(ahhh i cant believe its over, really. when I think about this manhwa i feel nostalgic and bittersweet bc its over, even tho it only began and ended recently!
as soon as i read the last chapter I pulled up these two images side by side and its just so incredible!! look at how they started, and what their relationship became, endured, and grew into!!! also take a look at the development in BBong’s lovely art!!
anyways, I like to imagine that these boys live a warm and golden life together, always supporting each other, full of love!!!!)
For the last 6 weeks ive been abroad, so not had any access to my laptop/tablet… i did so many little doodles (mainly RWBY based lets be honest) and now im back Ive started tidying up/redrawing some of them.
Im really loving RWBY Avatar au which ive drawn a fewtimes already. Hopefully its pretty obvious what scenes I had in mind when i doodled…
The recent Wank resulted in a rewatch of Iron Man 2, which renewed my love for this movie. Iron Man 2 is hands down my favorite ever MCU film. Ill admit that part of this is probably because its also the first MCU film I saw, and it as a movie has literally shaped my life.
I hate that some people seem to forget the very specific set of circumstances that led to this movie. This is Tony dying.
It amplifies his best and his worst. Hell take on the weight of the whole world and not tell anybody because he doesnt want them to worry. He wants to take care of everything. He thinks its his responsibility to, and he thinks he doesnt have the right to complain or ask for help.
He pretends like nothing is wrong, and to keep up appearances, he behaves like how he thinks others think he normally behaves. Honestly, it speaks to his astoundingly low self-image that this who he thinks he is. He thinks these are the actions that would not ring any warning bells.
Even Natasha falls into his trap. That scene where he asks Natasha what she would do if it was her last birthday was so telling. This is where Natasha, I think, figured it out, and also where she sets out a test: Id do whatever I wanted. What do you really want, Tony Stark?
And Tony parses this as, pass on my legacy without alerting and worrying anyone, and proceeds to do the entire birthday party thing, which was, objectively, a mess. Natasha sees the birthday party and then parses Tony as this: I want to be the center of attention and blow things up despite endangering people and getting into a fight with my actual best friend. Conclusion: Will not work well in a team. Tony Stark, not recommended.
We, the audience, get to see Tonys inner workings. We see that this is a straight-up existential breakdown. The people around him do not preciselybecause he works so hard to keep it from them. They suspect that somethings wrong–Rhodey and Pepper ask him whats up; superspies Fury and Nat figure it out with the help of old Howard knowledge. But still, all they see is his erratic behavior because thats all he gives them.
Well, you say, theyre his friends. They shouldve seen through him. Im sorry, but no. Tony is acting against them. Pepper and Rhodey and Happy arent mind-readers, and they shouldnt have to be. Pretty much all the mess in this movie could have been averted if he just talked to them about anything at all. The fact that he doesnt is a result of who he is as a character–too noble for his own good. Whether thats a character flaw or strength is a matter of circumstance.
tl;dr please dont use IM2 to prove either that a) Tony is an asshole, or b) his friends are assholes to him because youd be wrong on both counts because youre ignoring the entire premise of the movie
Kevin has been freaking out about his big debut and worrying that he’s going to make a mess of the whole thing and he’s been trying to find someone to talk to this whole time and find someone who will reassure him that he’ll be great. He tries to call Kate but she’s not there, he tries to talk to Randall but Randall is clearly preoccupied with other things, he goes to see his mom and she’s not there so finally he talks to Miguel. Miguel talks to him about being like his dad and how he sees his dad in him. He tells him that he’s Jack Pearson’s son and it’s exactly what Kevin needs to hear to make him realize what’s really important. Family is important. Being there for the people you love is important.
When Kevin visited Randall earlier in the day he could tell that he was off and that he was distracted and then he got the phone call from him saying he couldn’t make it and instead of being hurt and upset about it, he realizes it isn’t about him. Kevin realizes he had to do what his Dad would do and be there for his brother when he needs him. He bolts away from his show…this show that he has put his heart and soul into, this show that was his vehicle to show the world that he’s a serious actor…and runs all the way to his brother and sees him on the floor of his office, clearly distraught. He goes to him and he cradles him in his arms and supports him and I LOVE how this is contrasted with Kevin seeing Randall having a panic attack/nervous breakdown when they were kids and just walking away from him to his reaction to this as an adult. Kevin and Randall’s relationship has improved so much now. Kevin actually acknowledges Randall as his brother and he is there for him when he needs him. I have never been prouder of Kevin or felt more for him than I did in this scene.
These family dynamics are where the show truly excels. This is where the show gets its gold from. This scene is the most emotionally connected and moved I’ve been in this show since it came back from the break. The stuff with Rebecca and Jack last week was great, but I feel like they’ve been floundering with Kate and Kevin for the longest time. Frankly, I don’t care too much about Kate and Kevin’s romantic relationships, but what I do care about is Kate and Kevin’s relationship and Kevin and Randall’s relationship and Randall and Kate’s relationship and all of them together as ‘The Big Three’. Their family dynamics is what drew me in in the first place so please give me more of this because honestly that last scene had me like
You know what, Booth and Brennan will always be my #1 otp because they gave me so much as a couple. I mean, I’m not talking about sex or smut because that’s fanfiction material (like you go girl, want to see your fave ship bang on a piano? go and read that !!!! that’s what that website is for) but everything else. The ‘platonic’ aspect of their relationship has always been the best part of their dynamic to me, but they were still able to overcome that phase and be a family. This being said, that original dynamic has never been compromized, not to me at least, because when it comes to the important stuff, Booth and Brennan are still partners first, they are still the people they would give up their life for, they would fight for each other. While the majority of other ships kinda change once they get together. Booth and Brennan never completely changed, so much that people complain because they’d rather have them being romantic the 100% of the time. I don’t. Also, it’s the little things that matter to me, like it might sound stupid, but I find it extremely adorable and precious that Brennan knows Booth by knowing his injuries. Every time something happens, she’s able to compare factures and other stuff to Booth’s. And that’s so IC, that’s something I really want to see because it’s them. And it’s been this way since she first found out about his past in 1x15 and it never changed. She imagined him on that autopsy table in 11x01 by looking at the bones, just like it happened on 12x04 with Aldo and in other many occasions. Brennan saying like I know that because of your brain tumor. She knows his brain scans. YAAAS. Give me this stuff. Give me Booth and Brennan that can’t sleep without each other at night when one of them is struggling with something, give me them talking about taking someone’s life and carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. Give me them hurting each other to save each other. They would never cheat on each other or hurt each other because they want to. They only do it because it’s the only way. Yaas. Screw sex, just give me this stuff.
So I was thinking about Trespasser today and I honestly believe that the key to that great big eluvian at the end of the dlc was the Anchor. Over the past two years Solas has been gaining control over the eluvians and I don’t believe the Anchor was all of a sudden acting up because it had reached its expiration date. The Inquisitor displays a good deal of control over it prior to Trespasser which leads me to believe that Solas flipped the killswitch on it. It was time. He just needed the final key and good motivation for the Inquisitor. The qunari were never a threat but a nuisance turned tool. When you speak to Solas at the end he flips the switch again so you can talk. But after he has said all he has needed to he turns it on again. Despite what your approval rating with him was or whether or not you romanced him it’s still the same. He brought you there more to get the key. Saving your life was just the effect. This may have been common knowledge already and I’m just the last one to figure it out that the Anchor was the key. Ive never done or really watched the scene as rivals. Maybe I should have before posting this but regardless. Its kind of sad. Especially from a romance perspective because It feels like you were used.
You know what’s really amazing about In The Heights? What makes it totally unique from Hamilton in its brilliance? The rich detail. Hamilton is set across a span of roughly thirty years; the In The Heights story happens in less than three days. That’s a big difference, and it makes a difference in how much can be covered. Hamilton gets the important parts, and In The Heights gets everything. There are pieces of songs that evoke the time of day, that magically make the setting tangibly real, that convey complex emotion, that hint at characters’ personalities, that show character dynamics. Of course, Hamilton has a lot of that - the battlefield feels real with the explosions and percussion, certain characters rap and sing in certain ways, and characters communicate with call-and-response fragments pulled from previous pieces. However, those intricacies don’t take front-and-center in the same way that they do in In The Heights. Hamilton doesn’t need them to, because it has narrators. It needs narrators, because there simply isn’t enough time to show, rather than tell, thirty-odd years of life. Usnavi narrates through the worldbuilding of the opening number, but after that it isn’t necessary. No one needs to narrate the story, because it’s unfolding before our eyes. And without narration, there is room for as much detail as can be crammed into 23 songs. There’s room for the slowly building beginning that really feels like the world waking up at 6 AM, the gentle singing in Spanish that both comforts and pressures Nina, the fun, easygoing beat that is Benny in a nutshell, the percussion and piano that somehow fabricates an entire train rushing past, and everything else that follows. Hamilton is unlike anything the world has ever see. It’s fast-paced and obscenely long, but somehow gets away with it because no one feels the story has really ended until the last cadence of Track 46. Part of what makes In The Heights so incredible is that it really is just a regular, two-act musical - but one that’s bursting with all the life and spirit of Hamilton. It stretches its own limits to the breaking point, and there’s so much to absorb that you could listen to its music and watch its scenes again and again, a hundred times over, and there would still be more to think about. I know I’ve heard somewhere that that’s what makes music immortal.
Gradence/Gravebone/Gredence/Graves x Credence Fic Rec list
WARNING: most if not all of these stories have some to a lot of smut, possibly dub-con and/or non-con and/or questionable situations and consent. please be aware, and proceed with caution. also lots of spoilers. these are rec’s and reviews beyond the flailing sorts of comments i leave on the actual fics so yes that too.
First off I must mention the fact that when I left the
theater after seeing the movie for the first time, the one thing I knew I wanted
was some kind of consensual BDSM stuffs, and THIS series is bringing that to
the extreme. I’ve dabbled and I’m still learning, the shit I include in my
writing is pretty damn tame but this series is not, and I LOVE it. it’s a Modern
AU where Credence and Graves are eventually living the scene 24/7 and it’s
intense but so so so good.
The fic you knew was going to ensue after the healing scene
and its frankly dreamy and perfect and I love it so much but its Credence and
Grindelwald!Graves, so if that’s problematic, you know to avoid.
and next we have more sin aka smut that’s just short of a
plot but you know what? that’s ok. Some of us just needed smut after all that
goddamned sexual tension, so here, enjoy some
next up is the newest of the A/B/O stories, only 2 of which I
have ever read, bc frankly its not usually my cup o’tea, but HOT DAMN for this
ship I’ll take anything with smut that’s not too non-con or dub-con so yeah.
this is a lil confusing bc it is Real!Graves and Credence,
but Grindelwald is sort of behind the scenes pulling the strings.
this next story is one of my legit favorites I think ive
read it about ten times and its just ugh, for those who wanted a
non!innocent/virginal Credence and Graves first time, and HELLA he is a bit of
a hoe but he’s fucking sweet and adorable so its FIIINE.
this needs a sequel like
soon pls but if not its ok ill survive
THIS story I found myself
reading at my car place awaiting the checkup, and let me tell you, reading smut
for these two in public is still a challenge to keep a poker face, esp this
little bit of fluff which sounds strange considering the plot-ish, its
Prostitute!Credence and its great.
THE LORDS WORK. Let me tell
you a bit about this story. I have lived a life full of oppressive religion and
plenty of gaslighting bullshit, and this story contains lots of that, but with
plenty of angstyfluffysmut and a happy ending (SPOILER) to make it worth it, to
me, so theres that.
This is also my fave trope
of young innocent Credence being (accidentally) corrupted by hot smexy older
Graves and its just bomb as fuck.
DID I MENTION ITS 15K?
Time for your come to jesus
moment. More like come to graves and come for
graves moments amiright?
Ok so i know its been a few weeks since haikyuu season three ended but ive been thinking a lot recently about what Tendou says in the last episode and i dont browse the Haikyuu tag enough to know if anyones talked about it yet so if not im here to talk about it. So in the final episode of season three after Shiratorizawa loses, we get a scene with Tendou saying the following: “Farewell, my paradise” as seen in the photo below.
So when i first heard him say this, of course, being the Tendou fanatic i am, i did get a little emotional. I thought he was talking about all the straight wins that he acquired while attending Shiratorizawa. But this scene truly got me thinking, “why is it so bad that he lost before going to Nationals, when he has gone the past two years?”, then i realized, he isn’t talking about losing, he’s talking about the safe haven he found at Shiratorizawa, or more specifically, the Shiratorizawa team. In a previous episode we gathered insight and flashbacks of Tendou’s childhood days playing volleyball. When he was just starting out playing volleyball, no one wanted to play with him because he was the weird kid, or a “monster” as they said in one of these flashbacks.
They even go as far as to say he looks like one. For what reason they believe that, i have no clue. I mean, hell, the kid on the right looks like something straight out of a toilet wand commercial but whatever. They leave Tendou alone and exclude them from playing simply because they dont like him. Later in this episode we get to witness a scene where Tendou finally gets to play with the other kids and he wins a point against them. Now going back to the second season for a second, we get to see Tsukki talking to Bokuto and Kuroo about how he has never truly experienced a moment where he loved volleyball. Bokuto then tells Tsukki, “it’s a matter of whether ‘that moment’ exists for you or not…If you experience that moment,…”
“…it’ll really get you hooked on volleyball.” In this scene, Tendou truly experiences his blooming love for volleyball, and doesn’t let anyone let him not play and he decides to do his own thing. So, great. He’s gained his love for volleyball and continues playing throughout elementary school despite being bullied by the other kids trying to exclude him. That’s great, but then comes middle school. In middle school, he experiences what it’s like having a coach telling him how to play, instead of coming up with his own play style, saying:
Though this is how he plays and how he feels comfortable playing, he gets scolded for doing it and for playing how he wants. Even though Tendou is later quoted saying “but I’ve scored a lot of points on just my hunch”, his coach continually berates him, saying:
Though this in and of itself is correct, do you really think Tendou cares personally? If he truly cared whether or not he won, wouldn’t you think he would follow his coaches advice? We saw before that he only started playing because he felt good while playing, he felt good when he was able to score a point. That right there doesn’t bother him. He just wants to play volleyball where volleyball is more enjoyable instead of stressful(though throughout season three he was always striving to win more points to win and even playing against the opposing team emotionally). Add another obstacle onto Tendou’s list, a controlling coach. Boom, done. After Tendou walks away, he head towards what looks like a storage closet in the gym, where he overhears his fellow teammates talking about him, saying the following:
Once again, he’s being judged for something that is just a part of him, his personality. He has already experienced this one time before, when he first started volleyball. Tendou, after overhearing the conversation, then walks away, presumably to get away from people who are talking bad about him behind his back. Tendou throughout his volleyball career has had to deal with unhelpful teammates, a coach that tries to control how he plays, and teammates that try excluding him from any club activity. Tendou just deserves a hug can we make a protect Tendou squad? I just love him so much. #ProtectTendou2k17. Anyways back to the subject at hand. After finishing middle school, he then has to choose the high school he wishes to attend. Like most other Japanese students, he probably did some research according to the things he wants to do in future life and, of course, according to his club activities. Assuming Shiratorizawa was already a major powerhouse school before Ushijima went there(i believe it was) Tendou decided to go there not only for his studies but also to pursue volleyball further. When he goes to meet the coach of the volleyball team at Shiratorizawa, he says that he “just want[s] to play volleyball that makes [him] feel good”. I wish i screencaped him saying that but i didn’t unfortunately so you have to deal with me quoting him. After he expresses his feelings about the matter he shows this expression:
This is the expression of someone who has gradually lost their love for something this is a very solemn expression. He feels somewhat embarrassed that he has to express what he wants in such a plain manner to the coach. The person in charge of exposing the teams true potential in matches. He tells this to the coach specifically because he’s already gone through not being able to play the way he wants and having to conform to the ways the coach wants him to. If the coach at Shiratorizawa doesn’t allow him to play how he wants, Tendou most likely would’ve quit volleyball, considering the way he looks and how desperate he acts towards the coach about this matter. You can even tell the difference between how he acts in front of this coach than he did with his old middle school coach. He talked back to his middle school one but over time he gradually caved inward on himself and no longer is the free spirit he once was, all because of how he was treated during his volleyball years. But then the coach responded to him(and i wish i had screencapped this too ughh), “I don’t care, as long as you’re able to win” (more or less).
Can’t you just feel his expression and mood lift? He finally gets to play volleyball the way he desires, the way he loves to play, and on a team where he feels needed. And that’s exactly what happens. Over the course of his next three years at school, he finally gets to play a version of volleyball he loves, a version of volleyball where he always has the upper hand and it’s just overall so beautiful. Then the game against Karasuno happens, and Shiratorizawa loses. As we see in the manga and also in the anime i believe, Tendou says he isn’t going to continue playing volleyball. When he says “farewell, my paradise”, he isnt just referring to their constant win streak. He’s talking about the paradise he found in the Shiratorizawa volleyball team, a paradise where he can play how he wants, a paradise where he’s included in the matches, a paradise that didn’t and couldn’t last forever, and this makes me upset. Tendou is such a complex character and he deserves a lot more love than he gets. I’m not going to be re reading this through so f there are any spelling mistakes i apologize. And remember, #ProtectTendou2k17. Thank you for reading!
5, 7 LANGST haha if you're still doing these! i love your writing :0
Okay, so you gave such a good prompt, that this turned into way too much for a one shot, so there’ll probably be at least another two chapters before the end. Stay tuned for more.
For a moment, Lance couldn’t tell if they’d won.
It was chaos everywhere. Below them, the city was in flames. Although most of the citizens have escaped, Lance knows that they’d find more than a few bodies under those crushed buildings, most likely burned to a crisp. Some of them by laser fire. Some by boiling flame. And a few, maybe just one or two, will have been frozen to death. The other lions hovered cautiously, waiting for Shiro’s direction. A solitary battleship sputtered in the sky, with thick, black smoke spilling out of the numerous holes in its hull. Lance didn’t think they’ll have to worry much about it, and although he’d prefer to shoot it down, it was better for it to stay afloat, rather than to crash onto the town beneath it. Keith did a lap around it, and gets no response.
They let out a collective breath.
Shiro’s gaze shifted to Pidge, and then Hunk. Both of their lions had sustained heavy damage during the battle, and the resulting tumultuous flying had left Pidge with a broken arm, and Hunk with multiple bruises. Whether they had concussions or not was yet to be seen. “Pidge, Hunk, I’m going to escort you back to the castle; you need to get checked out by Coran before you start helping with the rescue and repair efforts. Keith and Lance, go check out that ship. See if you can get any information out of it before landing it, away from the city.”
“Aye-aye, Captain.” Lance said, giving Shiro a mock salute.
Keith simply nodded, and they both headed off towards the ship. The coms switched over, muting their lines with Shiro, Pidge and Hunk until they’re spoken to; Pidge had implemented that feature after listening to Lance sing for the better part of his solo mission, unable to mute him.
Lance shifted gears, and his lion zoomed forward. “Bet I can beat you there.”
“In your dreams.” Keith retorted, as Red’s thrusters fired, closing the distance between them before Lance had a chance to reply.
Keith reached the ship first, but only by a little bit (Lance was kinda proud of that. Red is physically faster than Blue, after all). And then they parked inside. And then…
Lance can’t remember what happened after that. Maybe they missed life signs inside, or maybe they’d separated and Lance had gotten lost, but whatever had happened next has left him alone in a tiny, cold cell. He still has his Paladin armor, which is a good thing, but his helmet isn’t receiving a signal. Great.
god i love brotherhood hate so much tbh fuck brotherhood (sorry if you like brotherhood but fuck brotherhood)
listen basically that long post i just reblogged brought up my biggest beef with brotherhood and manga (tho ive never read manga and have heard its better with characters) is that it ignores its characters
i like good plots and i get bored when something doesnt have a plot and is ONLY characters. but whats even worse to me is when its ONLY plot. the characters and plot should drive each other and the characters should be affected by the plot
FUCKING BROTHERHOOD doesnt let its characters recover from trauma and shit
i remember reading ed didnt cry until the last episode and i was like “wtf i remember him having some awesome crying scenes” and then i realized i was remembering 2003, which has BEAUTIFUL and realistic character development and thats when i got super pissed
AND FUCKING AL you know when marta is killed in his armor in 2003 its so fucking horrific and then you have the same thing in brotherhood and youre like “oh no how is al going to feel after this poor thing” and he JUST BRUSHES IT OFF? and later he goes on this rant of “im sick of watching people die” and it just pisses me off like im sorry, al, i didnt even realize those deaths affected you but if you wanna bring them up to motivate yourself to become stronger then sure do that even though its total bullshit
AND NINA! i know nina IS brought up a few times in brotherhood, but every time im loterally like “oh yeah that happened.” And i dont feel anything. When ed says at the end how he couldnt even save a little girl, despite how epic the scene is, i was kinda pissed because it felt like such a cheap thing to mention since i didnt see ed or al actually affected by nina. just feeling sad for her every once in while isnt being affected by it. Being affected by it is when the experience permanently leaves an impact
you get that in 2003. every thing that happens to the brothers permanently affects their growth, rather than it all being episodic events that add to their male protag angst (“what doesnt kill me makes me stronger lol what emotions? What trauma? I use it to fuel my righteous fury hiyah!”), every thing pushes them slightly further to who they end up at the end of the series
i can and have gone on and on on how much brotherhood characters piss me off because they all came out of the series almost the same as they went in, learning concrete lessons but not actually changing psychologically/realistically nor GROWING, and how every character got what they originally wanted in the way they wanted it. and imo, thats BAD character writing. It works sometimes based on the story, but with something like fma with these goal-driven characters who face challenges and trauma im order to get what they want, they SHOULDNT ultimately get what they want. And if they do get what they want, it should be either that they dont need it, they dont want it anymore, or they get it in a more bittersweet/twisted way (like roy couldve gotten what he wanted without getting his eyesight back and becoming fuhrer. He would lose the more surface goal, but he could still achieve the more abstract underlying motive of fixing the country.)
Ok so I had a request to do a little meta on something and this might be a smaller version of a bigger one i’m gonna do. But I wanted to look at Daryl’s flashback in the lineup, which is in canon btw and the significance of the scenes chosen so lets got..
(gif by @oohhshiny)
This is an interesting look inside this theory about the flashbacks that’s gaining a little traction for me as well. Especially when you get further into the season and see the scenes and the story arcs develop. So take a look at Daryls here for a moment.
It hightlights his story this season so far as well as making interesting points about what he remembers, in canon, on what may be his last moments. Because these are Daryl’s memories here. Rick was not present for all of these.
So we the ‘your my brother’ scene with Rick, and the scene of them goofing off in the car here. Highlighting the bond between them. Its sort of forshadow of his reunion with Rick in ‘Heart Still Beating’. One of those scenes involved Rick telling him that its’ ‘not on him’ before calling him his brother and this is a very significant moment to Daryl. The hug they later share sort of reflects this moment in reinforcing this for Daryl when it comes to Rick.
The memory of the scene with Maggie (which also shows up in her flashback I might add) is definiatly a direct foreshadow of an upcoming scene with him and Maggie in which they discuss Glenn and his guilt over it. Part of the arc for Daryl this year is his guilt over this, and the scene is forshadowed as being necessary to both characters as a catharsis and a way of moving forward for both of them (cause like I said, its in hers too). Theres a reason Daryl remembers this scene.
Now the Caryl moments, which have been often discussed. The very distinct possibility that the showing of the reunion hug from ‘No Sancturary’ not only shows the importance of that moment for Daryl, and his feelings for Carol but forshadows the reunion in ‘New Best Friend’ that we saw as well. See what. I’m getting at here?
The intriguing inclusion in this flashback is the one of the bus scene from ‘Seed’. Its intriguing for 2 reasons. 1) It’s significance to Daryl, cause it was included in his canon memories. Its obviously important to him at that moment, and I and others have said, it might have been the first moment he looked at her a bit differently. Not just as a friend in others. It has importance to him. 2) It was put in canon by the showrunners and a corresponding moment has not been aired yet that reflects this one. It was put in there, I think as a possible reminder to the audience, but why that scene and not the ones in the trailer?
I have stated it was, at least for me, one of the first moments that I considered to be turning of the possible nature of their relationship from mere friendship to possibly something more. I think a lot of us have said that too. It’s very important in the history of the ship.
So ask again for anyone to ponder, why is it included in Daryl’s canon flashbacks at that moment he thought he would die if there wasn’t an importance reason why?
A/n- (feel free to change the friends name I was just too lazy to write y/f/n that
may times) IT’S HERE! bet ya weren’t ready for that plot twist ;)
The night ended with all six of you heading back to
the hotel. It wasn’t until about 2 am that the guys left.
“Wait!” you protested as they stood up. “We all need
to switch numbers so we can have group chat after we leave!”
“Ok,” Justin laughed as he grabbed your phone.
“Gimme,” you motioned for Tyler to give you his
After everyone had each other’s number, the boys
“Alright, I’m going to bed.” you said as you plopped
onto the bed.
“Same,” Alice yawned.
“I’m gonna go call Sean,” Olivia grabbed her phone
and headed to the balcony.
You three didn’t wake up until about 11 am. And none
of you rushed to get ready.
“Hey, I’m gonna call Anth and see what the plan is,”
you said as you walked out to the balcony, leaving the other girls to continue
After a few rings, Anth picked up. “Hey, Y/n.”
“Hi. What’s up?” you ask, looking at the city below.
“Nothing, just chilling at home.” He sounded
hesitant, but you brushed it off. It was probably nothing.
“Do you still want to go to the Santa Monica Pier?”
“Listen, Y/n…” he trailed off.
You laughed, “You can say no.”
“It’s not that…” he said and you began to worry.
“Y/n, Conor left.”
“What do you mean he left?” your voice cracked.
“He went back to London last night. He was really
upset,” Anth was biting his slip almost to the point of drawing blood. He
didn’t want either of his friends to be sad. He just wanted them both to
realize that they were in love.
“About what?!?!” you yelled, tears threatening to
fall. “What could he possibly be upset about?”
“He saw that you were hanging out with another guy,”
“Oh. My. God.” You sighed. “He’s so fucking
childish! Maybe if he actually talked to me then he would know he was just a
“Y/n, just please try to fix this. You guys are
perfect for each other.”
“Obviously we’re not Anth!” you began crying. “He
plays me like a fucking game. He treats me like crap and then gets mad when I’m
not interested anymore!”
“He likes you a lot,” Anth tried to level with you.
“He has a real shit way of showing it.”
“It’s not your fault,” you yawned. “Sorry for flipping
out on you; you didn’t deserve that.”
“It’s okay,” he chuckled. “You still want to go to
Santa Monica Pier?”
“Sure,” you smiled even though he couldn’t see it.
“Meet us there in an hour.”
You tried. You tired really hard. But you just
couldn’t. Every time you weren’t talking, your mind would flood with him.
Whether it be his smile, his hair, his voice or anything else. It was him.
Always had been and always will be.
You walked down the pier trying to stay tuned in to
the conversation, but you just couldn’t. You wanted to see him, feel him, and
be with him. And you couldn’t. And that killed you.
You needed him.
“Y/n? You aright, love?” Alice asked, wrapping an
arm around your waist.
“Yeah, just a lil homesick,” you plastered on a fake
“C’mon babes,” Olivia smiled. “We’ll be home soon
So a few more hours were spent at the pier and then
you four went out to lunch.
After lunch, you guys arrived at Anth’s apartment at
around 2 o’clock.
“So, you girls are leaving tomorrow…” Anth said as
you three entered his apartment.
“Yeah, our flights at noon.” Alice frowned.
“I don’t wanna leave,” Olivia pouted.
“Same, but I couldn’t stay here forever.” You said,
sitting on the floor.
“I could, 100%. This place is like paradise,” Alice
“Have you ever considered moving to London?” Olivia
“Yeah,” he chuckled. “I have actually. But I’m super
close with my family and I couldn’t do that to them. Tours are hard enough as
“That’s understandable,” you give him a small smile.
“So what do you ladies want to do on your last night
“Hmmm, movie night?” Alice suggested.
“Yes! Let’s have a Harry Potter marathon!” Olivia
“Do you have the Harry Potter movies?” you asked.
Anth gasped and put a hand over his heart, “I am
truly offended that you even had to ask.”
Anth put in the first of eight and you four spent
the rest of the evening making jokes and reciting entire scenes.
As the fourth movie came to a close, you looked at
“Bloody hell, its two in the morning!” you laughed.
“We better get back and pack,” Alice said.
“Since when are you the responsible type?” Liv
giggled, earning a glare from the brunette.
“Do you guys need a ride to the airport?” Anth
“Thanks, but we’d hate for you to go out of or way.”
He laughed, “It’s no big deal, I promise.”
“Wanna help us pack too?” Alice said sarcastically.
“No, but I can keep you company if you like.”
“Sure!” Olivia said. “Let’s use the little time we
have left to our advantage.”
“We’re not dying, Liv.” You laughed.
“Who knew packing could be so fun?” you laughed as
you shoved a pair of shorts into your suitcase.
Anth had decided to show you girls his playlist;
which was lit as hell. You all began singing while he watched you three back
Anth paused the music, “Its 10:30, you girls should
probably be at the airport by now.”
“Just a few more things!” Olivia said, cramming a
few more souvenirs into her bag.
“Here,” Alice laughed, grabbing one of the bags. “I
can put it in my bag.”
“Thanks,” she sighed.
“C’mon, you’re gonna be lateeeeeeeee.” Anth whined,
already halfway out the door.
The ride to the airport was also filled with many
good songs. Once you got the airport, the goodbye to Anth was sadder than you
“Thank you,” you cried into Anth’s shoulder. “For
trying to help us.”
“Of course,” he hugged you tighter.
After you finally let go of your American friend,
you three silently walked to your gate. None of you wanted to leave, but you
all three wanted nothing more to be home. The flight back home was filled with
sleeping. Alice and Olivia slept the entire way, except for small bathroom
breaks. But you, you only slept for a little bit. After a tiny power nap, your
mind was racing. You thought of all the things you could do when you got off
the plane. But only one stuck out.
You had to see Conor.
“Do you guys want to go to my place, and just chill
before we get back into our daily routine?” Alice asked as you three waited for
“I’m down as long as you have wine and pizza,”
“Sure, but I have to go somewhere before that.”
You rolled your eyes sarcastically, “I wonder…”
“Do you want us to go with you?” Olivia gave you a heartfelt
“No, this is something I need to do on my own,” you
said. “But thank you.”
“Anytime,” she winked.
The Uber ride to Alice’s was normal. You girls
quietly chatted until the car had arrived at her place.
“Alright, I’ll be back soon.” you said to the girls and
gave the Uber address Conor’s address. The nerves started to rise in your
stomach as you grew closer to the apartment. You had no idea what was to come.
You walked up the stairs to his floor and slowly
walked to his door. You knocked, and stepped back, heart beating faster than
The door opened and Jack Maynard stood there, a smile
quickly approaching his lips.
“So you’re the girl my brother went to America for,”
he chuckled, leaving against the door frame.
“Yeah, uh is he here?”
“Yep,” he said, opening the door and motioning for
you to come in.
“Conor!” he shouted. “Someone’s here for you!”
You followed him into the living room where Josh was
sat on the couch, controller in hand.
“Oh. My. God. You’re her?”
“Yeah…” you said slowly, who else knows about you
Literally everyone, you dumbass.
“Who could possibly be here to see me?” Conor
laughed from the hallway.
You and Jack turned around, watching his expression
It went from comical, to confusion, to sadness but then
settled on anger.
“What do you want?” he said coldly.
You were slightly taken aback, “I want to talk.”
“Why?” he crossed his arm.
“I think you know why,” you looked at him, your
heart breaking into a million pieces.
“Fine,” he said and led you to the balcony.
“What do you have to say?” he scolded.
“Okay. First of all, you can lose the attitude. And second
of all, I want you to explain.”
“Explain what?” he asked.
“I just want to hear your side of the story.”
“I don’t have one,” he said simply.
“So you can’t tell me why you did what you did? Why you
flew all the way to bloody America for me, but then left before actually apologizing?”
“No,” he sighed. “I was just confused. I was
jealous, but then I relished that I fucked up. But then I saw you with the
other dude. And I just got so angry.”
“What other dude? Clayton?” you asked.
“I don’t know how he is. He was on your Instagram,
and he was obviously into you. I just felt unwanted.”
“Really?!?! YOU felt unwanted? Are you fucking
kidding me???” you yelled at him. “You treated me like actual shit but got
pissed off when I wasn’t still hung up on you! You’re literally the epitome of
a fuckboy, yet I can’t help being in love with you! You piss me off more than
anything in the world yet you were the first person that I wanted to see when I
landed! So don’t you dare say that
you felt unwanted?”
“You gave me mixed signals! You would seem interested
but when you had picture of you kissing a guy! How was I supposed to know if
you were interested or not!!”
“What picture of me kissing someone?”
“The one with the balloon where you’re on his back!”
“Oh my god,” you laughed, yet you were far from
showing humor. “That’s my fucking brother, which you would know if you bothered
to get to know me!”
He stepped towards you, “I tried! You were the one
who got short with me!” he poked you in the chest.
Jack opened the door to the balcony, “Mate, back up.”
“Stay out of this Jack!” he yelled, yet his eyes
stayed looked with yours. “You said something. Say it again.” His features
“Which part?” you asked.
“The part where you say you love me,” he said,
turning his pointed finger into a flat palm, he wanted to feel your heartbeat.
“I am so incredibly in love with you Conor Maynard.”
“I’m in love with you too, Y/n.” he smiled. “Can I kiss
You giggled, “Of course.”
After you two awkwardly went back into his flat and
awkwardly said goodbye to Josh and Jack, you headed over to Alice’s.
You were all lounged around her living room, a
pointless show playing in the background.
Conor was deep into an awkward fan story when there
was a knock at the door.
“I’ll get it,” Olivia said.
“No! Alice should,” you smiled.
“Wow thanks.” She rolled her eyes but got up
you mouthed at Liv who gave you a questioning look. You two and Conor followed
the brunette to the door.
She opened the door and froze. Liv did the same, yet
you were smiling ear to ear.
(WARNING: I’m one week late and I’m aware of this fact. I just didn’t expect the analysis of the opening and the ending to be this long.)
It’s been four years…
And they’ve only announced 12 episodes.
To be frank, considering the messed up agenda, it’s not that bad. It’s better than having a completely rushed second cour with reused scenes. Remember the mess episodes 22 to 25 were? Yeah I’d rather not have that again.
Considering the openings and the endings, I’ve written a word here. I was planning to do it in the same post but there was useful notes that could foreshadow what was going to happen in this season and later in the manga. I thought therefore it deserved a post of its own.
After a short recap, the episode starts with the capture of Annie.
Annie being taken into custody - Ep. 26
This scene makes me think of the forensics taking a dead body, which implies this might be indeed the last thing we see of her.
The episode then hooks the ending of S1 with the events from chapter 34, with Pastor Nick from last season telling Hange to cover the Wall Titan, before going on with the episode titled The Beast Titan. The opening has been very dynamic, as expected from Linked Horizon. We’re holding our next earworm here.
From what I’ve seen so far, this season does have improved graphics over the first one: character faces drawn correctly, Erwin’s nose being right, Reiner and Bertolt getting beefier, more CG animations added, with titans and horses, which is a nice touch since it doesn’t go into Berserk 2016′s levels of obnoxiousness, to the point of making the animation awkward. There’s still the gross lipstick effect on female characters…
They added an extra Erwin scene, where he indeed expressed his lack of surprise concerning titans inside the walls. Him thinking it might have been possible stays consistent with his character.
They also added a different Hitch and Marlowe scene where both express how all these people died without reason. Needless to say, it’s very different from what the manga had to offer and almost feels… a bit empty.
Hitch and Marlowe’s scene in the manga - Ch. 34
Empty because it seems to happen after Googles took control of the situation, yet it would’ve been nice to see the two of them worrying about Annie, to see at least they care and her being off is a tad suspicious.
The next scene is the famous scene were Hange makes Nick talk. Another segment from the manga was excluded because the civilians did witness the Wall Titan, both in this episode and in the opening. So there was no point in adding it. Kudos to Romi Park’s performance for breathing life into Hange’s character. That scene was tense… however.
I can accept tiny bits being scraped to condense the episode to fit half a volume in it but I’m less forgiving with scraping tiny bits of dialogue that makes even a secondary character relatable. In this scene. While the anime did a good job at making Nick’s faith invulnerable to threats it omitted one of my favourite passages:
Pastor Nick’s backstory - Ch. 34
It was what made Nick human: he had no family left and sunk into alcohol as a result, and faith is the only thing that saved him from his crisis. So instead of a fervent pastor who found a new lifestyle, the anime makes him sound like a crazy fanatic.
His hairstyle is a bit different, not that I mind.
It was also one of the rare, but not unique moment where Hange was downright serious and scary, to the point not even Moblit’s word manages to resonate with them.
Next scene is the garrison member (instead of Thomas, or it’s him but he changed branches or something) rushing to warn Erwin, followed by a neat rewind effect to where the next events are going to unfold.
Shot of Rico and the wonderful Rogue Titan smashing the Female Titan - Ep. 26
As you can see, one screencap that implies the involvement of the Garrison and the other that’s… placed to fit the timeline at which these events happened. Not a bad move. The animation quality however…
Nice to see the apparition of these titans within Wall Rose coincides with Annie and Eren’s fight. There must be something fishy underneath this…
In the past, we have the whole sequence with everybody on standby, till titans appear. We’ve got a nice pack of people isolated to find who has been the conspirator, starring Connie and Sasha slacking, Reiner and Bertolt playing chess with a nice animation, Ymir and Krista discussing next to a table. As Sasha and Mike detect incoming titans with their sixth sense, the episode closes chapter in 10 minutes, opening included, leaving 13 minutes for chapter 35, the ending and the preview.
We’re seeing Nanaba hoping next to the window, looking as beautiful as ever, telling everybody to prepare themselves to rush within Wall Rose’s interior. Some parts have been deliberately scraped as to why members of the 104th have been isolated.
The CG animation - Ep. 1
That’s a pretty one I admit, with the previous preparations from each SL cadet. Too bad they scraped parts as to why these people were retained, which fleshed a sympathetic side to Nanaba’s character.
Nanaba feeling bad for the 104th - Ch. 35
This is the same case as Nick. Even if the reason had to be hidden, that passage could’ve been at least included for further implications.
I loved the break between the moment the titan appeared and the one where it suddenly started running towards the formation. The forte of this episode was without doubt a good action combined to excellent music. Good thing to kick off a 4-year long waiting.
I’m curious about who dubs Gelgar, as well. This part of the chapter ends on Mike in action before going on something completely different… A scene that wasn’t supposed to appear now. Aside from the Eren and Mikasa moment that was mostly added as an extra scene it doesn’t really serve a purpose now. I’ll take it as a foreshadowing for later.
No offense but Eren’s kind of a dick in this scene though. Telling Mikasa to buy another scarf when it was her only memento. Not cool.
Next is an eruri scene kinda similar to the one added much later that lasted a couple of seconds and it was mostly talking about Mike’s situation and that small hope he’ll make it out alive.
But since we’re following the manga and the episode has to end on chapter 35…
We’re introduced to that weird titan that enjoys taking a walk.
First shot of the Beast Titan - Ep. 1
Who also grabs Mike’s horse, abuses it while strangling him and aims for its owner a couple of seconds later.
And who can also talk.
Note: in the manga it looked like he wiped his hand from the midget titan’s blood, but in this episode he waits for it to evaporate, completely unfazed.
That scene is absolutely terrifying. I’ll remind everybody that Mike was supposed to be second compared to Levi as a SL member and he was completely terrified as that titan was stealing his 3DMG, with no horse, his legs broken and four titans surrounding him.
But Mike was someone filled with hope.
Mike screaming - Ep. 1
As long as the fight was going on, nothing was lost. But the Beast Titan, being a troll but not on purpose, sends the surrounding titans to devour Mike.
And this roar of fight became a cry of despair as Mike’s life ended with titans tearing him apart. Thanks a lot Kenta Miyake for the power put in Mike’s voice. Congratulations, seriously. The visuals made it worse.
And this first episode ends on an ominous ending. That was a nice kick to every SnK watcher to put us in the mood again. I forgot how much I liked this arc and waited so long for it to be animated.
AOS 4x18: AKA I’m sad, frustrated, and excited all at the same time!
Live footage of my Ask Box….
Fair warning guys, I have a VERY different take on things right now, especially with Fitz. I personally feel I got a lot of confirmation tonight. A lot of my theories have legs still…even more are off and running.
Even before I started my meta I had 20 asks in! Please do not send me rants about the story arc. Hate for the writers. Hate for the Characters. I will lay out what I see happening here in my meta as usual. I will answer questions and do theories. But I won’t post negativity for someone who is on Anon.
