The “me” couple are not really partners. They may love each other; they may be happy enough. But they don’t operate as effectively in love or work as the “we” couple. The “we” couples are unquestionably a team. You see it in their body language and especially in their speech. And when they have successes or problems they view it as something happening to both of them.
Greatest/sweetest ranking of BL movies/series that you don't wanna miss!!
UPDATED: As of April 4, 2017 !!!!! Hi guys!!! been addicted by Bl movies/series/webisodes/ and even short movies and these are my rankings of it from best to worst xD

***My bromance:the reunion - this is the series remake of the movie my bromance. and thank goodness that in the first season nobody dies! a different conflict altogether but still the same plot.
Counter Attack Web series - QingYu for the win xDD. they are sooooo married. I also recommend their photoshoot sessions, more kissing scenes than the series xD loving the doctor’s cow licked hair, kawaiiii xD
Addicted/Heroin Web Series - Sweetest punk I ever watched really. I wish for uncut scenes! and I demand a continuation!
***Ame to kisu - Love this movie! it made me read the manga and you will love how cute the uke is and how the story was very well portrayed in the movie
*** The right man - there are only a few BL movies/series who would portray the love of a parent and their worries. i loved this film because other than the love story unfolding, the relationship between the mother and the son progresses too <3
Yandaixie No.10- honestly, the story has a lot of promise! it was very good but I didn’t like how the first season ended being them still in bad terms…then hearing that there won’t be a second season!!!! or so i heard.
***SOTUS - hazers! hihihi. if you’re ooking for a cute-tsundere uke then this is what you’re looking for! it has the all goody kissing scenes and a very good college plot. very recommended
Love’s Coming - Nai x Gump xDDD
Love Place 2(Shiawase no Katachi)- A continuation of Love Place 1. Finally an English sub that I’ve been waiting! Typical BL story, most of the time you can read in a manga but you can feel the characters feeling very deeply!
Grey Rainbow - Has every thing I want in a BL,marriage, sweet moments and even a kid! and it also has something I didn’t like…death! why!?!
Doushitemo Furetakunai - the story is great and is really based on the manga. Loved the characters. this is my first BL ever just forgot to post teehee :P !!!
***HIStory webseries: My Hero - so this is one of the ghost themed BL. Comedic. but I do not like that the ghost girl experienced all the sweet moments using the boy’s body. oops spoiler. BTW the seme is sooo hot *wink*
To you for me–chocolates - I laughed at this BL so much. It really portrayed the case of miracles to two people that should be in love. wonder when it will end?
Paternity Leave - you’ll love it, Mpreg xDD
eCupid - movie about the greatest app for semes who take advantage of their uke’s love xD
Just Friends? - hottest and sweetest forbidden love I have ever watched!! sadly it was tooooo short for a very good plot movie xD
Udagawachou de mattete yo - sooo cute! as in supeer!!! one of the best live action next to Doushitemo Furetakunai <3 <3
***HIStory Webseries: Stay away from me - brother’s theme! yehey! though I wished for more sweetness. the eyes of the uke seem to catch my attention a lot in a not so okay way. but I STILL LOVED IT.
Two Weddings and a funeral - I loved the comedy aspect of it. It mainly focused on the life of gays and how the ‘two weddings” conquered it with love. but why Tina !?!?! why ?!?!?!
My Bromance - I love the on-relationship scenes but I just hope the ending was not when one dies. I bawled for this one,it’s like rising you up,then pulling you dooown, why!?!?!?waaah! But the story was really good!
Happy together - loved the couple sooo much! being 6 years together, those fights and make-ups seems like a typical married life
Oppressive Love - half-horror and half BL and they actually became a couple! to bad the older brother had to possess him…ooops spoiler ;-P
Ai no kotodama 2
***Bad romance the series - another side story BL but because they started the series already together and the ending was so sweet so it is okay.
***I’m here our twelve years is a reincarnation legend - short shounen ai chinese BL. if you’re on to watching just the sweet, innocent stuff, then this is good for you :)
Takuya and Joon jae “the lover” - you may be a bit disappointed because it is missing some smexy moments like kissing and “you-know” but the story is great with lots of laughs and sweetness. hoping for season 2
***Love Complex - this is a thai series but the BL part is a side story and doesn’t develop much though it is still on the first two episodes. some of you may not like it because it is on a side story but promise, the main story is very funny.
Docchi mo Docchi - may be low budget, but that romcom theme was perfectly executed xD sooo funny xD
Itsuka no kimi e - loved the story so much. It was like reading Junjou Pure Heart again xD soooo cute! Wishing for more kiss scenes though.
Ai no kotodama 1
Seven Days Monday-Thursday, Friday-Sunday - perfectly executed as of those of the manga
Hollyoaks (Ste and Harry) - lots of problems; closet gay, HIV, parents are against, even teachers then there are also cocaine involvement. wut?! haha but the story and how they still get back together is what makes it great.
Diary of Tootsies - Very very funny!! as in very funny! but they left Gus and Top’s story hanging, which is what I’ve been waiting…sigh
Fujimi orchestra live action - it’s like the BL version of Nodame Cantabile. the movie needs a sequel. it’s not that they did not end up together but the movie ended with the seme still pursuing the uke xD
Go go go G boys - very funny, packed with hot bishies. Last part after credits is a must seen
Farewell my ghost boyfriend - short movie. I’m not on vote on the new ship. i still wish there was some kind of miracle for the ghost. huhu
Love Place - I preferred the part two (2) than the first one, more Bl action, though it is still not translated
Boku no Kareshi wo Shoukai Shimasu - was hoping for more kiss scenes xD
Gloomy Salad days - ep13-14 only. Hidoku Shinaide story, bully and the bullied. You’ll be hoping for more.
Love of Siam - honestly, a good plot, really. It just needs some tweaks on that bad ending, urgh. Hoping for season 2 to change it.
I’m yours - a one-sided love of a robot to a human and he’s quest to help the guy to achieve love. it was badly cut, I don’t know. it was missing some parts when I watched it so I am still heavily confused.
Love next door 2 - Watched XD but still looking for subs. but very promising especially in terms of comedy and hotness.
Mr x and I - First Season: First and Second story only, the other two has horrible ending, I advise this to those who do not wish to see a sad ending. Second Season: Loved the ending, hated the hetero guy, urggghh
Princess Princess D - actually, this is a live action adapted from a shoujo manga. full of fanservice and crossdressers and will leave you laughing at the clichès and corniness.
Love next door - the story escalated quickly and the ‘love’ (sweetness) I was searching for was too short in the plot.
A Pair of Love - so-so xD
Time line - Watch the first couple only, and/or the last one. never ever the second one, it still gives me goose bumps till now
Me my familiar people - uhhh…actually I didnt quite get the story. it was soo confusing. its like he has s*x to another then I don’t know maybe his bestfriend too?
Teacher and student - because I was expecting that light, romantic theme I was deeply disappointed by that twist as it turns out to be too psychological. One of my least favorites next to Kindan no Koi.
Kindan no koi - simple……i hated it. the plot twist at the end was just tooo much, really, too much. Still a good movie though, but definitely my least favorite.
This is an edited list XD those with *** are newly posted as of April 4. Will update for more lateerrr! Ask me for links if ever you are interested xDDD hehehe
“What’s wrong with death sir? What are we so mortally afraid of? Why can’t we treat death with a certain amount of humanity and dignity, and decency, and God forbid, maybe even humor. Death is not the enemy gentlemen. If we’re going to fight a disease, let’s fight one of the most terrible diseases of all, indifference.” — Patch Adams (1998)
Today the Eren & Levi merch from the Asano Kyoji x WIT STUDIO Exhibition finally arrived! I fell in love with these when they were first announced and I knew I had to get them no matter what. It’s been a while from then until I was able to find them, buy them, and get them shipped to my country, but the wait was so worth it!
The board is my favorite, it’s so beautiful. I am pleasantly surprised with its size, I expected it to be small like the others, but nope, this one is huge! I wonder if I should frame it and put it on my wall…
Oh and at the same time I got 2 older ones that were given with the movies because I didn’t have them yet:
I think I’m still missing one with Eren, I’ll have to get it next time! (＾ω＾).
”I’ve heard there were people who could charm bees; I’ve just never seen it done before today. You’re just a bee charmer, Idgie Threadgoode. That’s what you are. A bee charmer.”
One of my favorite things to do is tell straight gals that this movie is about a romance between women. While this is made clear in the original novel, the relationship was watered down for the movie just enough to be passable as a Strong Female Friendship so that (I guess) straight women wouldn’t be alienated by the story and we could choo-choo on down into Women’s Picture Sobfest territory. Unsurprisingly, I’ve still found that it was an eye-opener for many a queer gal. This movie for sure has its problems but it will always have a special place in my heart for being the first PG lesbian romance I ever saw. As a young & pretty innocent queer girl I was getting discouraged after finding so many highly sexualized portrayals of lady-lovin’-ladies, and was so swept away by the beauty and power of this period romance. I’m still holding out hope for one that will be this lush but also let the love dare speak its name beyond the point of subtext.
Heyyyyyy there, sorry for the hiatus (which is still going to continue at least until June I think) but med school is really taking its toll on my spare time. Plus, my tablet is broken so I can only make pencil doodles until I get a new one
But anyway, I watched Moana about one month ago and I ADORED it. It’s definitely my favorite Disney movie ever, for a bunch of different reasons. So here’s a quick screencap redraw I made as warmup
Can you recommend me some bl movies/series? It could be thai, chinese, Korean or japanese. I've watched Addicted(Heroin), Uncontrolled Love and Ghost Boyfriend (which I cried when I watched it btw). Thank you!
Hello :) sorry for replying late, it took me more than I expected. I have too many things to recommend so this is gonna be long ^^”
- Counterattack (nice and funny and totally worth watching because of QingYu, even though they compressed a lot of things from the novel so if you want to fully enjoy the story I really recommend to read it)
- Make It Right the series (I haven’t liked it that much to be honest so this is a recommendation based on the popularity it has, you may like it ^^)
- Seven Days (super sweet, if you find the 1st movie a little slow remember to give a try to the second, though, it’s the one I appreciated the most)
- Takumi kun 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 (Takumi is Takumi, super saccharine but it’s something that should be watched; Pure, the 4th one, is different from the others, though, and it’s absolutely my favorite - sorry Takumi, sorry Gii ^^”)
- Boys Love 1 | Boys Love 2 (these are basically the first BL movies I watched, so I had to include them lol; tragic content alert, though)
- Waterboyy (here I’m biased since I love the two leading actors, but the whole movie is enjoyable)
- Red Wine in the Dark Night (I watched it recently and I’m still deciding if I liked it or not; it’s pretty peculiar, but if you like vampires, loneliness, hot scenes and shocking contents you can give it a try)
- Lost in Paradise (among my favorite vietnamese movies, it’s very realistic yet delicate)
- Like Love + Like Love 2 (another thing I’m gonna recommend because of its popularity, since I’m still deciding if I liked it or not; it’s cute and everything, but… well, idk ^^” but you may like it ^^)
I stop here, otherwise I would go on forever >.<
For other stuff in case you may take a look at this list, I mainly did it for my italian pals (so ignore my comments lol) but it has links for the english subbed versions too; the titles with the star (★)
are the ones I liked ^^
Are you asking if I can give you some fic suggestions? HOW FUN! I’ve never been asked this before :’) To be completely honest, I’m not a huge fic reader. I wish I could be but my time usually goes into different things. BUT I do have a few that I love.
-I’ll start with my all time favorite Kakasaku fanfic. FATED by leafygirl(Rated M/Completed). It’s a slow burn and has GLORIOUS angst. I cried, and it wasn’t like, a few tears. I had to put my phone down and ugly cry for a minute. Anything by leafygirl is amazing.
-My next rec is the Will of Fire by Cynchick(Rated M/Completed). Another slow burn that is just so great. Awesome plot, great twists. It has a lot of Hinata in it so if you dislike her, you might not want to read it. She is pretty awesome in the story though.
-Third rec is Unbroken by princezsupastar(Rated M/Completed). It’s an AU where Sakura travels to the past and meets Kakashi. I love it, its fun. It’s another long one but worth the read. I’m all about those multi-chap fics lol.
-Adeline is another fic that I love, but it’s still in progress. That one is by @nikkigrand. It is an AU of the movie Adeline. I’ve never seen it but the fic is gooooooooood. Good angst. MMHMMM.
From Emergency Couple to Ex Girlfriends Club to Princess Hours and My Wife is Having an Affair this Week, no two of her roles have every felt the same. Sometimes quirky, sometimes untouchable, she is always engaging on screen. While not all her shows have been my personal favorites, I still enjoyed watching her subvert expectations. With an even more prolific array of movie roles plus her versatility on Running Man, she moves from embodying model standards to every-day working life with ease that the industry finds hard to label.
“the silent hill movie is bad because it made alessa’s fucked up powers into just The Devil”
1. its ur choice to interpret it as the devil 2. the dark being approaching alessa can just as easily be interpretend as Alessa’s Fucked Up Powers Manifesting And “”Approaching”” Her Even Though It Came From Her 3. the reason we have Rose instead of Harry may be because the director was a misogynistic asshole but in the end we got a movie that’s like 80% female characters and a female abuse victim getting Her Own Revenge so i dont care
The dream starts and I am in Blockbuster. Everything seems normal, I am browsing through the tapes, taking my time. Everything is in first person view, super vivid. I go to reach for a movie (I do not remember the title) and another hand clasps over mine, reaching for the same one. Startled, I turn to look at the face, our hands still together.
He leans close to my ear and whispers. “We are all in this together.” And I wake up.
As someone who's heard that Romeo + Juliet (dir. Baz Luhrmann) was the "most accurate to the screenplay, technically" but also that it wasn't as accurate as it could be, plus all the other pro/con arguments abt it that float around, I was hoping you could tell me why you dislike it? Thank you!
So, I decided to watch the movie again before answering your message (that’s mainly why I took so long to reply! I’m sorry) because the last time I watched it was like five years ago, and I actually loved it this time around? I’ve been fangirling the whole night.
I agree that Luhrmann did a fantastic job in ‘translating’ the society of Shakespeare’s Verona into the contemporary world. The misogyny, the cult of violence and masculinity—all these aspects were brilliantly shown by Luhrmann. Besides, the rhythm of the movie is marvelous. All the scenes are governed by this impulsive, erratic speed. It gives you no time to think; you get carried away by its rash haste. The crazy speed of the play is one of my favorite things because it’s like, a huge emotional rollercoaster.
Still, I’m uncomfortable with the way Luhrmann filmed Romeo and Juliet’s first conversation—Juliet literally has to step back to prevent Romeo’s mouth from touching hers right when he says, “have not saints lips and holy palmers too?”. It looks so self-assertive, it makes me cringe. They’re literally creating a sonnet together, it should be beautiful and not creepy. And then there’s this new scene where we see Romeo arrive at Juliet’s bedroom on their wedding night, which I think is nonsense. I talked about it here.
Another part that I found disappointing was the portrayal of Romeo’s despair when he receives the news of his banishment in the friar’s cell. He should be “on the ground, with his own tears made drunk”, “taking the measure of an unmade grave.” He is so desperate and anxious that he even attempts to kill himself just to destroy his Montague self. However, Leo is too serene. I can’t help comparing his acting with Leonard Whiting’s portrayal, who was cut out most of the lines in this scene but who managed to accurately show Romeo’s anxiety nonetheless. Another thing I’m not sure I like entirely is the “balcony” scene. In the original play, Juliet is locked inside her window and therefore they cannot touch, let alone make out in a pool. I find it very significant that they don’t even touch in the longest, probably deepest conversation they have, but I felt like Luhrmann over-sexualized the scene unnecessarily. And then, as usual, they didn’t make Tybalt come back after Mercutio’s death. It’s quite an important little detail—both the fact that Tybalt came back to Romeo and that Romeo only suggested revenge after Tybalt’s return. (Tybalt would never run away from a fight? He is too arrogant to do so.)
The death scene is most likely what I dislike the most, though. To begin with, I think the scenery, pretty though it is, isn’t really appropriate—it should be dark, scary, the way a “nest of death, contagion, and unnatural sleep” should be, only lightened by Juliet’s beauty and not by pretty candles all around (“Her beauty makes / This vault a feasting presence full of light”). The place should correspond to Juliet’s fears:
Shall I not, then, be stifled in the vault,
To whose foul mouth no healthsome air breathes in,
And there die strangled ere my Romeo comes?
Or, if I live, is it not very like,
The horrible conceit of death and night,
Together with the terror of the place—
As in a vault, an ancient receptacle,
Where, for these many hundred years, the bones
Of all my buried ancestors are packed:
Where bloody Tybalt, yet but green in earth,
Lies festering in his shroud; where, as they say,
At some hours in the night spirits resort—
Alack, alack, is it not like that I,
So early waking, what with loathsome smells,
And shrieks like mandrakes’ torn out of the earth,
That living mortals, hearing them, run mad.
It should be that terrifying. And, most importantly, it should specifically be Capulet’s crypt rather than some random church. Basically because by poisoning himself in the vault of his wife’s family, Romeo is destroying the patriarchal system (as well as reinforcing again his rejection of his own surname and the whole feud; he chooses to “set up” his “everlasting rest” in Capulet’s tomb rather than in that of Montague).
I find it very symbolic that they both die alone, surrounded by Tybalt’s and Paris’ corpses—the two men who thwarted their love the most—; I actually think it’s very significant to make them die separately. It reinforces the repressive isolation that they both experimented throughout the play. If you think about it, we not only witness the evolution of their love but also their evolution as individuals. We get to see how their relationship alters their social identities (i.e. Romeo’s willingness to love Tybalt, Juliet’s sexual liberty, etc.), and when their society rejects these new identities, they tragically decide to commit suicide. (More on this here.) I think they not only kill themselves for each other, but also for themselves, and this is something that’s highlighted by the fact that they die alone.
Besides, having Juliet wake before Romeo’s death kind of blurs the Liebestod trope—that is, death is not truly dividing them, but finally bringing them together. They kill themselves because they cannot be together in life, ergo Romeo promises he “will still stay with thee” because death will turn him into Juliet’s husband again. (There are actually lots of references to wedding rituals in this scene.) So when he says “thus with a kiss I die” (“die” meaning both to lose your life and to have an orgasm) he is not really saying farewell. He is kissing her right before dying to “seal with a righteous kiss / A dateless bargain to engrossing death”. However, in the Luhrmann version, Romeo dies thinking that death will separate him from Juliet, and so his last kiss is not a “dateless bargain” but a goodbye. (Overall his death lacks something if Juliet wakes in time. This awesome lesbian version also made Romeo die after Juliet’s awakening, but neither Luhrmann nor the lesbian production dared add new lines and he just stays speechless until he dies and I find it very weak? If Romeo saw Juliet live again, he would surely say something. If Shakespeare had wanted Juliet to wake before his death, he would have written it like that, but he didn’t. I feel like Luhrmann is changing the meaning of the scene just to increase the dramatic effects of it.)
I also think it’s highly important to make Friar Lawrence enter the scene between Romeo’s and Juliet’s deaths—he gives Juliet a very suitable option in terms of religion:
Come, I’ll dispose of thee
Among a sisterhood of holy nuns:
Stay not to question, for the watch is coming.
Juliet is breaking the rules again by refusing to hide at a convent and spend the rest of her life devoting herself to God and mourning her dead husband. She prefers to commit suicide. But what’s even more irritating about Luhrmann’s version is that Juliet doesn’t say a word after Romeo’s death, which weakens the character a lot. Their conversation ends with Romeo’s “thus with a kiss I die”. It’s a pity, because her last words are really potent, especially considering that daggers were seen as a masculine form of suicide (whereas poison was often attributed to women. My kids love burning down gender roles): “O happy dagger! This is thy sheath: / There rust and let me die” (with another pun on “to have an orgasm”). By introducing Romeo’s dagger into herself she’s again claiming her right to be sexually active. This metaphor is weakened by making her use a gun instead (AND BY CUTTING OUT HER DEATH SPEECH LIKE!!! HOW DARE YOU!!!).
Another thing that I wish were included in the movie is Capulet and Montague’s reconciliation. I find it vital for the message that the play wants to transmit. After all the violence, the prejudice, the social oppression, Romeo and Juliet’s death puts an end to the war between both households (I say households and not families). The patriarchs admit the wrong they did, and it’s just so satisfying to hear them apologize. I think this is kind of the whole purpose of the play—I would dare say this last conversation is the reason the whole story was told in the first place. The prologue focuses on the households’ violence, and it actually mentions Romeo and Juliet to express that their death ceased the violence:
Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life,
Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Doth with their death bury their parents’ strife.
However, in Luhrmann’s version, Capulet and Montague only stand side by side without saying a word while the Prince reprehends them, leaving up in the air whether or not they will take their children’s advice and replace hate with love.
My personal thoughts on all of the Nicktoons (so far as of May 2017)
Cute, sweet show. I love it. Sad how it tends to be labeled as "boring" now- it's still a great show. And of course it kicked off the whole "slice-of-life cartoons" trend so that's pretty cool. And yes, I did like the Disney version. But it's nowhere near as good as the Nick version.
Probably one of my favorite cartoons ever. Funny, clever, great characters, great music, great '90s aesthetics, and Klasky-Csupo's style is perfect. One of THE best Nicktoons..too bad it got dumbed down in 2001. Ugh...it was such a great show and then I don't know what happened there. Rugrats in Paris should've been the finale. But...even the later episodes are better than it's spin-offs.
The Ren and Stimpy Show:
While I'm not the biggest fan of most gross-out shows, I LOVE this one. I'm pretty much with Mr. Enter on how most gross-out cartoons seem to be TRYING to be R&S but rarely getting it right. The characters are hilarious and it's so weird, it's funny. But the less about Adult Party Cartoon; the better.
Rocko's Modern Life:
Amazing show and I'm really excited for the TV movie...whenever that's coming out. I love the visual style, the music, the characters, and I'm sure I love it even more as an adult than I did as a kid (and I did love it as a kid)
Aaahh!!! Real Monsters:
Another great show (really, Nick was at it's highest point in the '90s, but the early-to-mid '90s especially). Love the characters, the intentionally ugly style...it's just great. Shame it tends to be so underrated.
One of the greatest cartoons ever and probably the best Nicktoon ever. I love how it never tried to shy away from more mature themes that other kids' shows wouldn't try touching and it did a great job at it. Looking forward to the Jungle Movie, and of course...Helga was the best.
I loved it as a kid. As an adult, I REALLY wonder why. The wraparounds try way too hard to be "hip", just akwardly shoehorning in references attempting to be the next TTA or Animaniacs, but falling completely flat. Characters were annoying but the voice acting was awesome. I do need to give the show credit for making me a ska fan. Most of the individual shorts kind of sucked but Action League Now! was hilarious and The Off-Beats was cute. And of course...
Life With Loopy:
Yes I had to give this it's own mention because it's just that good. Nick really needs to give this one it's own series because the campy and surreal nature mixed with the overall sweetness was just a perfect blend, and the animation style was pretty awesome. The title character is just so perfect and so underrated. And I LOVE how aesthetically '90s the whole show is.
The Angry Beavers:
Another one that's pretty underrated. I always really loved this show. I love all the banter and ad-libbing between Norbert and Daggett. And the music was great. I still listen to "Beaver Fever" and "I Think I Like You" now and again (also...Salem and Zim as beavers. How could you go wrong there?)
Everyone hates this show but I really loved it. I love the character designs, CatDog themselves, and the theme song is NEVER going to leave my head. Sure, it's no Rocko or Hey Arnold!, but it's still a funny show.
Oh Yeah! Cartoons:
Unlike KaBlam!, this one had different shorts in every episode rather than just four main short series, so it would take too long to go over all of them (not to mention that a good chunk of them aren't even online!). A lot of the shorts on this show were really funny and had some great visual styles. And Mina and the Count still needs a TV show.
The Wild Thornberrys:
Really loved this show; I was the "animal kid" in my class so obviously I really liked this one. I just really love Klasky-Csupo. The movie was awesome and so was the show.
One of the funniest cartoons ever. While it got annoying seeing it become a schedule clog, the earlier episodes are still great. I heard that it got itself out of seasonal rot (look, let's pretend most of what came in-between the movie and the second movie never happened), but I rarely watch Nick anymore so I wouldn't know. Let's hope so.
Not one of my favorites as a kid or as an adult (I wasn't really into the extreme sports craze), but my friends really liked it so I watched it with them and yeah, I enjoyed what I saw. It does have it's funny moments and while it's incredibly cheesy and way too late '90s/early 2000s that it hurts, it's a fun watch just for the cheese.
As Told By Ginger:
A great show that I don't think I really appreciated enough until I got older. I guess I was just a LITTLE too young when it was new and by the time I was older and getting more into it...the show got cancelled. It's a really great show and one of Nick's best slice-of-life shows.
The Fairly OddParents:
Really funny...for the first four seasons. S5 was when it started to slip and everything after that just got worse and worse. I still have fond memories of watching the older seasons and they're still good...but let's hope that jump to Nicktoons meant something.
Great show, great animation, great character designs...did NOT deserve to be screwed over. I'm really looking forward to the TV movie. But...while I do love GIR (though he's not my #1 favorite character), the whole Hot Topic worship of GIR was pretty annoying. Let's face it- 2006/2007 on the internet was a bad time.
Really cute. Admittedly I like the worldbuilding elements and characters a little more than the actual episodes (I did love all of S1 though; I think it was the best season), it's still great. S4 was...not the best though. From what we know about the canned S5, it was probably gonna be a lot better but...Nick had to be Nick. Let us have S5, already. And really- why didn't we get a ton of Snap merchandise?
The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius:
Good show but I liked the movie more. Had some really funny moments and is so aesthetically early 2000s that it's pretty fun looking back on.
My Life as a Teenage Robot:
Loved this one and I wish it got more recognition. Jenny was absolutely adorable and she was a hero to me as a kid (okay, looking back...I'm sure I had a crush on Jenny). Sad that the network treated it like shit.
All Grown Up!:
The special was good. The first season was pretty good. After that I felt like I was reading glorified Rugrats fanfic. All it was really was "Ginger Lite" as ATBG was dealing with the heavier stuff while this was all the leftover stuff. Rugrats was great and had an interesting premise. AGU! was more of the same.
This was the last Nicktoon I REALLY loved as a kid. A really good show that could've gotten even more awesome had it's own creator not fucked it up. Ugh...I want a revival but PLEASE let it be by Steve Marmel and not Butch. Also Sam was like...my hero...as a preteen. And I've got tons of purple and black in my wardrobe (and the same purple lipstick) now that may or may not have been influenced by her (well, that and/or the fact that those are my favorite colors anyway). Like many others...I totally had a crush on Danny as a kid.
Avatar the Last Airbender:
Okay, admittedly...I was never into this show. But I praise it for it's themes, animation, story...while I personally couldn't get into it, it still is a great show and probably the last really good Nicktoon for a while. And yeah- we don't talk about that movie.
I didn't really see enough of it but what I saw I liked. Wanted to see more but it came and went really fast.
While the previews for it looked pretty good, I...did not like it. I watched it when it premiered and everything but it was a letdown. Felt like they were trying WAY too hard to make their own version of The Incredibles but with Erin Esurance-esque animation. Voice acting was great though (I noticed that Wendie Malick was the saving grace for TWO bad 2005 cartoons)
Okay this was RIGHT around the time I was starting to lose interest/outgrow Nickelodeon. Had a great premise and could've been a really good show and I was looking forward to it, but it felt like tons of other flash cartoons at the time and the voice acting could've been a lot better (great talents- direction-wise though...). Maybe if I were a younger kid when it came out, I would've liked it more, but...it was annoying. But the creator has made some other great stuff and I STILL need to see The Book of Life. I'm kicking myself for not seeing it in the theaters due to my work and college schedule.
Tak and the Power of JuJu:
Didn't play the games but I already knew the franchise was pretty much dying by the time the show came out. It was awful. And we never heard from Tak again...
Back at the Barnyard:
The movie had it's problems but was at least watchable. The show was just annoying and unfunny.
The Mighty B!:
Unpopular opinion, but...I really loved this show. It has problems, but there was something about it I couldn't hate. Bessie was just such a great character. Wasn't a big fan of the grossout elements but otherwise it was really funny. Not a great show, but I was entertained enough.
Rugrats Pre-School Daze:
YES THIS IS A REAL SHOW. Ugly art style (I'm pissed that K-C didn't use their signature style and went for something more "cutesy"; it just looked awful), bland writing, and really not a very interesting series. No wonder why it only lasted four episodes and didn't even air in the US until 2008 after all the episodes were released direct-to-video as bonus features on those Tales of the Crib DVDs (the less about them, the better). All it felt like was a desperate attempt to keep a dying franchise alive.
The Penguins of Madagascar:
I was pretty neutral to the Madagascar franchise- saw the first movie in theaters and it was alright; wasn't dying to see the sequels so I never did. The show however never did anything for me.
Fanboy and Chum Chum:
While I was already losing interest in Nick around 2005-2007, this was right around the time where I was officially done. I was a teenager at this point and not into this stuff anymore, but I stuck around for the old SpongeBob or FOP rerun and well...guilty pleasure Mighty B!. Then they changed the logo. And then this show came out. God...it was SO annoying. Annoying theme song, annoying characters...animation style would've worked a lot better if it was in 2D rather than CGI; it just fell way too deep into the uncanny valley for me. I wouldn't say this was the final nail in the coffin for me though; it was definitely the logo change.
Didn't like it. Jokes weren't that funny. I did love the character designs though.
Sheen didn't need a spinoff. This was one of the worst ideas ever.
Kung-Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness:
Liked the first movie (I need to watch it again), haven't seen the sequels but I should. Was bored with the TV show.
Haven't seen it but I've heard nothing but good things about it. Maybe I should check it out.
The Legend of Korra:
Heard it was pretty good, but as I wasn't really into Avatar I probably wouldn't be too interested.
Robot and Monster:
Monsters vs. Aliens:
Saw the movie and it was...alright. Didn't think it was warranting of a TV series. Didn't watch it.
Sanjay and Craig:
Saw some of it while waiting for another show to come and...I never wanted to watch it again. Not a fan of the character designs and it was really unfunny. But it's better than Breadwinners.
I did like the Rabbids games as a preteen but...by this time, I don't think they were that popular anymore. Didn't watch it. How is it still running?
Worst Nicktoon ever (so far). Ugly characters, awful animation, shitty writing...how did this get greenlit? Nick...just because "it's for kids" doesn't mean "we can half-ass it"
What's this? A GOOD NICKTOON? Yes- it's such a cute show with cute character designs, really nice animation...it's got a nice, nostalgic feel to it while also feeling like something brand new that Nick hasn't done. I'm pissed that it was screwed over.
Pig Goat Banana Cricket:
Like Monsters, I like how it's "intentionally ugly" and some of the jokes/line delivery managed to be pretty funny, but is otherwise pretty meh to me overall. I'd like it more if I were seven, because hey, that's the show's target audience.
The Loud House:
I'm glad it has positive representation (thank you for including gay parents in one of your shows, Nick!), but otherwise it's just too bland and cliched for me. Nice character designs; animation could be better. Again, I'd probably like it more if I were in the target audience.
Bunsen is a Beast!:
Haven't watched it. Don't plan on it, either.
Hey :) could you do a Ricky Horror imagine, one where I have have been friends with motionless in white for about 7 months after mutual friends introduced us and Ricky has feelings for me but is to scared to tell me and one night me and all of the guys and their girlfriends are hanging out at Rickys place and their all dropping hints about Ricky liking me and then they all make a excuse 2 leave and its just me and Ricky so we watch a movie and we start to cuddle and he tells me his feelings 4 me
I’ve been sitting in my car for a solid 10 minutes, my bottom lip between my teeth and a small smile tracing along my face. I can see the lights are on and through the window I can see a few people, Kylie, Devin, Balz and Ryan. I know the others are somewhere else throughout the house as well.
Finally I gather up enough courage to turn off my car and get out. I smooth down my hair and shirt quickly as I go up the driveway to the door, knocking on the wood and then waiting patiently.
The one person to answer the door was none other than Ricky. I smile at him, a light blush on my cheeks.
“Y/N! Glad you could make it. Come on in!” Ricky says in an exaggerated tone of voice, making myself giggle.
“Why thank you, kind sir.” I reply back in my best attempt at a posh English accent, stepping into his house.
Immediately I can spot everyone else, all sitting in the living room with some sort of drink in hand and snacks on the table in the middle.
“Finally she’s here!” Chris cries out in mock exasperation, a grin on his face.
I simply shrug my shoulders, taking a seat on a pile of blankets as all the chairs are taken. Ricky goes to sit on the empty space on the couch, but Balz scoots over in the way. Ricky then goes to sit on a different spot, and again someone takes it before he can sit down. I can’t help but laugh to myself at the situation. Chris gives Ricky a pointed look, an amused grin on his face, and then Ricky sits by me on the floor. I swear, I could see a faint blush on his cheeks as well.
It starts to rain right then, but it’s just a light drizzle so far. Throughout the night, Chris, Ryan, Balz and Devin kept making comments towards Ricky, doing weird hand motions and giving him looks but I was oblivious to the glances being thrown my way as well with smirks on everyone’s faces. Even Kylie and Ryan were giggling to themselves, whispering unknowns.
Suddenly lightning flashes and thunder books through the night, the lights flickering for a second before going back to normal.
“Well we are going to leave before the storm gets any worse.” Balz says, him and Ryan getting up from their spots on the couch.
“We’re gonna hit the road as well.” Devin says, him and Kylie following them out the door. I look around, seeing as it’s only Ricky, Chris and I left. Ryan must have left without saying anything.
“I might as well leave too. Don’t get to crazy when we’re gone.” Chris teases, but I don’t know what he’s getting at.
“What do you-” I start to say, but he interrupts me as he opens the door, “Bye!” And then he’s gone.
“Since everyone else is leaving, I guess that’s my cue to go as well then.” I say, a bit reluctantly though. I didn’t want to leave, I kind of wanted to be alone with Ricky.
“Um, actually why don’t you just stay here tonight?” Ricky says, but I can see a faint blush on his cheeks, “So you don’t have to drive through the storm, of course.” He stammers out the last bit.
I smile slightly, nodding my head with my own blush on my cheeks, “Sure, of course. Could we maybe watch a movie then?”
“Of course. If you want, I think I have a pair of clean clothes in my room you can borrow for tonight. If, you know, you want something else to wear.” Ricky again stammers out.
I smile gratefully, “I think I’ll take you up on that offer. Thank you.”
I don’t see it, but as I’m walking down the hall to go change Ricky is grinning ear to ear, muttering something under his breath but I couldn’t make out what he was saying.
I get to his room, sliding off my jeans and trading them out for a pair of his sweatpants I find sitting on his bed. They hang low on my hips, but I don’t mind. I leaving my hoodie on, but take off my t-shirt so I just have a tank top on underneath. I also take my hair out of its bun I managed to throw it up in last minute, having my hair fall past my shoulders slightly messy.
Satisfied with my comfort level, I walk back out to the living room, seeing Ricky already put the movie in and was sitting on the couch waiting for me.
He smiles at me appearance, and we don’t say anything as I take a seat next to him on the couch. I sat closer than necessary, but I knew neither of us would complain. The movie starts to play and I notice it’s a horror movie, one of my favorites but it still can scare me no matter how many times I’ve watched it.
The lights are dimmed, and the storm is raging about outside. A scary part comes on, and just as someone is about to be killed thunder shakes the entire house and the lights flicker once again, causing me to jump closer to Ricky. I didn’t know he was resting his arm over the back of the couch, so when I jumped closer to him I guess I startled him a bit and he dropped his arm over my shoulders. I saw him blush lightly, and I’m sure I was as well, but before he could move again I took a risk and cuddled closer to him, wrapping my arms around my own body and resting my head on his shoulder. I could almost hear his heart pounding, and instead of moving he holds me closer to him, keeping one arm around my shoulders and hand holding my own.
“I like this..” I mutter out loud, unintentionally. I knew he heard me, and it only causes my blush to grow.
“Me too. I’ve… I’ve actually been meaning to tell you something.” Ricky says, and I can sense his nervousness in his tone.
“What is it?” I ask, although I could already kind of tell what he was getting at.
He’s silent for a moment then, as if figuring out what to say. And when he does start to talk again, I can’t help but smile to myself.
“I want to be able to hold your hand, laugh at your jokes, walk by your side, cuddle on the couch, look into your eyes, talk about whatever and kiss you whenever I want. Every day. Meeting you was fate, being your friend was choice, but… But falling in love with you was completely beyond my control, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
I don’t look up at him as I talk next, knowing if I looked into those beautiful blue eyes of his I’d completely forget what I would say.
“Before I met you, I never knew what it would be like to smile for no reason. When I’m with you, I’m happy. When we hug it’s like I don’t ever want to let go, and when you make me smile it seems to bring out the sunshine in me. When I see you and our eyes meet, it’s like something I’ve never felt before.”
It is only then I look up at Ricky, a shy smile on my lips, but when I see him my smile grows, and as does his.
We don’t need to say anything to let each other know we love them. Because that shows in the words we say and the actions we do. I know we’ve handed each other our hearts in our words, and I vow not to break his as I know he won’t break mine.
Because our love is more than words. It is the silent nights with the rain drizzling on the window pane. It is quiet mornings, a coffee our hands and his arms around my waist. It is rough nights, where I hold him and reassure that everything is alright because I know he’d do the same to me.
It is a love that doesn’t need to be proved, because we already know.
