its just the quote from the series

Actually, there is a word for that. It’s love. I’m in love with her, okay? If you’re looking for the word that means caring for someone beyond all rationality and wanting them to have everything they want no matter how much it destroys you, its love! And when you love someone y-you just don’t stop. Ever. Even when people roll their eyes or call you crazy. Even then. Especially then. You just- you don’t give up because if I could give up… If I could just, you know, take the whole world’s advice and- and move on and find someone else, that wouldn’t be love. That would be… That would be some other disposable thing that is not worth fighting for. But that is not what this is.

This is my favorite quote from the whole series

Reality Disintigrates

It gets lost in all the comedy of the blog but facts-i-just-made-up was originally a very angry spoof of numerous “genuine” fact blogs that routinely posted unsourced and incorrect facts, some of which seemed to have been things that people just thought would be cool if they were true, just made up. It was a trend I thought would die off in time as people began to realize that some fact blogs were liars, or at best just ignorant bloggers who didn’t check their sources.

Obviously this trend has not ended, it has instead gone mainstream. The most powerful people in the world now routinely lie on an unprecedented level and make up claims on the spot, almost pathologically. Many news sources parrot these lies without even the slightest reality checks. And many people simply trust what they see, be it a slight misrepresentation skewed to fit a point of view or a glaring, obvious falsehood written to deceive and destroy lives.

I just saw a fun lesson in how easy it is. Here’s a post that got maybe ten notes in its original form:

http://sharkchunks.tumblr.com/post/155138835773

It’s a joke, there are a bunch of Bob Ross quotes all over in this format, little grey subtitle boxes over him painting. It looks real on the surface. The post clearly states that the quote is in fact from the Akira Kurosawa movie “Ikiru.” It’s from a series of posts that play on how similar Kurosawa scripts can be to Bob Ross quotes, and on the numerous incorrectly attributed not-really-Bob-Ross quotes going around tumblr.

Then someone removed the caption. It got 17,000 notes in a day.

I’m pretty sure that in a year, maybe a month, maybe less, Google will find very few sites attributing this quote to the film Ikiru. Quote aggregators will find the thousands of reposts without the correct attribution and then the millions of people who blindly read over them will repost it in ten thousand forms, securing the quote as Bob Ross’s on every page commonly available. Maybe, maybe if we’re lucky, Wikiquote will at least keep it in the “attributed” section instead of just listing it as his own.

And that’s all the benign version, an innocent joke made reality by more or less innocent bloggers. Imagine what will become of reality after years of world leaders and globally trusted news sources lying intentionally without punishment, without negative consequences for the liars.

We are entering a new era in which nobody knows fact from fiction, and everybody makes up the facts as they go along.

In any case, happy 5th birthday to facts-i-just-made-up.

At MCM London today Matt came on stage for a QnA about Eddsworld: here’s a few of the key points he said-

•Matts favourite character is Zanta
•Eddsworld can never continue in its current format, as Tom no longer wants to voice it (and having only Matt would be silly) so he thinks it’ll either be an entirely new cast/style, basically a whole new direction.
•He said a new series in the Mirror dimension (Ellsworld) is totally something that could happen. Matt said he loves Ellworld, thinks it’s just fantastic and he thinks the girls are way cooler because they’re more confident
•His favourite Matt quote is “NOT THE FACE, but he’s also a big fan of "My face, my beautiful face!” from The End part 2
•Only Tom knows why his eyes are black (and they’re black, not missing) and at the moment he isn’t telling
•The team briefly thought of adding a fourth member, a talking Japanese spirit dog, but they immediately thought it was stupid and didn’t put it in
•They also thought that adding a fourth member (like Tord for example) would add a interesting new dynamic
•Tord is ‘going somewhere’ and won’t be back, but that doesn’t mean that his story is over. Matt said its a complicated situation
•Matt and Edd first met at sports day and played little games together. Matt’s teacher noticed (Matt was being bullied constantly at the time) and moved him into Edd’s form. Matt said he kept on hanging around with Edd until they became good friends
•In 'Saloonantics’, the guy who says “are you looking at my ass?!” was originally played by the actor of the main character from 'Project:Library’ but due to recording problems they couldn’t use his lines
•Matt’s guilty pleasure is listening to classic musicals in his car and singing along loudly
•Matt is the only one out of the three who has to put on a different voice (more squeaky)

{{july 4th, 2017}} // 1/100 days of productivity

I decided to start the 100 days of productivity challenge today on 4th of July (happy birthday America!) and I decided to just organize and clean my room. I organized my desk (please tell me if you recognize from which book series half of my pictures/quotes are from!!) and I watered my succulents as well! I’m also studying for the PSAT so I have some review books + some classics to read.

Why Come From Away Deserves to Win the Tony for Best Musical

Jet fuel can’t melt steel beams. Bush did 9/11.

Right, got that off my chest. Anyway, are you tired of hearing the same accounts of 9/11? We all know the stories of worst terrorist attack in US history that, for the first time, closed the US airspace and forever marked a nation (and especially the city of New York) with the fear of terrorism, muslims, and anyone from the middle east. These stories are all too often one-sided and seldom bring anything new to the discussion, but Come From Away dares to change that. Come From Away tells the story of a small town in Newfoundland, Canada where 38 planes were forced to land after the attack on the Twin Towers. Here’s is why this touching, intimate musical deserves to get that spinny coin.

We’ll begin with the visuals. Ordinarily this is where I might talk about the set, but…well, Come From Away doesn’t have a set. The show relies on creative use of chairs rearranged throughout the show to represent everything from planes to a bar. The results are a sort of trunk show that allows the audience to fill in the spaces with fantastic success. The focus in this show is not about what you see, but about what you discover. This is where the casting is important. The show is full of people of color, including a gay couple, an African family, and a muslim from the middle east (which, as you can imagine leads to conflict in the story). This diversity lends to the most important message of the show, which is to slow down from life and learn how to see the people around you as just that, people. We may have differences, but we are all human, and to quote President Barack Obama, “Despite our differences, we all share the same title: Citizen.” (though, to be fair this story takes place over two nations so…)

The music is less of a series of songs and more of a shifting melody as we pass from chapter to chapter. This medley works splendidly for the show as contrasting sounds blend into one another from one moment into the next, each feeling like its trying to tell its own story just as the characters do. The show features primarily folk styled music but it relies on quite a bit of a capella and harmonization from the ensemble, leading to every number feeling strong and supported by the entire cast, especially Screech In and 28 Hours/Wherever We Are. Even with this though, the orchestrations are clever, novel, and brilliantly written. The stunning vocals of the individual cast, especially Jenn Colella, help drive the messages home to the audiences, so that soon you’re laughing, crying, afraid, and inspired right alongside the characters.

On that note, the writing for the show is very cute but . It’s hard to know whether this show is for adults, like you would expect from a show about 9/11, or more for families. Certainly the story is one with lessons for everyone. I think one character’s really stands out as representing the central messages of the show, a man who was born a Polish Jew during the outbreak of WWII. He talks about how he was raised to be afraid of telling anyone of his ethnicity/religion, but in seeing all of the stories coming out amidst the catastrophe, he had to tell someone about his past and he learns to embrace his differences. In staying in Gander against their wills, the come-from-aways learn more about themselves, and in providing for these strangers the Newfoundlanders in turn discover something in themselves. Most important of all though, the audience discovers something about themselves.

Come From Away is a different sort of 9/11 story, and you often forget it’s even centered around the twin towers at all. Ultimately it is a musical about all of us, trying to go about our lives without taking the time to listen to other people, and what happens when we are forced to do so. It is a touching story, one that made me cry repeatedly the first time I listened to it,  and I’m sure it will hold a very special place in my heart, and the hearts of many other people for many years. It’s even more special because the show is base don real events. Overall, Come From Away is a very special, heart-warming show that fully deserves to be recognized as the best musical this year.

  • Lemony: Right, so what's the plan?
  • Jacques: Well, I thought you could write Beatrice a short note, expressing your honorable intentions.
  • Lemony: Yes, yes. I think so too. Alright then, take this down. From Lemony, to Beatrice: Tally ho, my fine, saucy young trollop! Trip along here with all your cash and some naughty night attire, and you'll be staring at my bedroom ceiling from now until Hanukkah, you lucky tart! Yours, with the deepest respect, etc. Signed, Lemony.
  • Lemony: Well, what do you think?
  • Jacques: It's very moving, Lemony. Would you mind if I just changed one tiny aspect of it?
  • Lemony: Which one?
  • Jacques: The words.

swanginghustla5  asked:

So have you heard of "City Shrouded in Shadows"? What do you think about it? And do you think it will be coming to North America?

Oh man, I have and I CANNOT wait for it!

I do not have a PS4 but I may get one JUST FOR THIS GAME!  Seriously it has not just the original Ultraman but now Ultraman Tiga is confirmed!  As well as Godzilla, Gamera and Evangelion?!  Oh heck yes I am excited for this!

As for its chances of getting released in the US, let me quote another of my own posts:

I sadly, don’t have much hope of it coming out stateside or in the West.  It’s a lot like the situation involving most of the Super Robot Wars games.  The only one to see a Western release were from the OG series which had only original character entirely owned by Bandai/Badai Namco.  The licensing headaches involved in the West are legion (no pun intended) considering who has the rights to distribute the individual properties in the West.

For example, Sony has some of the Godzilla movies, others are owned in the US by Universal, Warner Brothers and even Funimation has the distribution rights to Shin Godzilla.

The US rights to Gamera are held by Neptune Media (I think).

I am honestly not sure who has the actual rights to Evangelion right now, I know Funimation has the rights for the Rebuild movies but the TV series and I know the original movie (Death and Rebirth, The End of Evangelion) rights have lapsed.

Worst of all is Ultraman.  I could go on for hours about the mess that is the rights to Ultraman (at least the first six series) and how trying to get a game featuring him licensed in the West made in Japan would be hard at best.  There has been a protracted legal battle between Tsuburaya Productions in Japan and Tsuburaya Chaiyo from Thailand for years with both sides holding the rights at various times.

Currently, as far as I know, Tsuburaya Chaiyo (which has NO actual connection to Tsuburaya Productions) has the licensing rights to the first six Ultraman series outside of Japan.  This is one reason that the earliest Ultraman series licensed by Crunchyroll from Tsuburaya Pro is Ultraman Leo, because that one is the 7th series.  It all goes back to a suspect contract supposedly made out in the 1970s supposedly between Noburo Tsuburaya (Eiji’s son) and Sompote Saengduenchai that said Sompote’s Chaiyo production studio had the exclusive rights to the Ultraman franchise outside Japan.  Of course, this contract didn’t surface until after Noburo’s death in 1995 and that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how suspect that entire thing is.

Suffice it to say, getting a Japanese Ultraman product licensed outside of Japan involving the original Ultraman isn’t easy.  Even the DVDs we do have of Ultraman and Ultraseven are not from the original Japanese masters as they had to be secured from Tsuburaya Chaiyo, making them of much lesser quality than the ones available in Japan. This also makes a Blu-Ray release highly doubtful.

So while it is easy for Bandai Namco, who own the rights to produce merchandise for all of these franchises inside of Japan, to put them all in one game the chances of that game getting a release outside of Japan are slim.

As a quick addendum here, there is currently a court case filed regarding an Ultraman Movie made in China without Tsuburaya’s approval that may once and for all solve the international rights issues.  Maybe. We hope.

I still don’t hold out a lot of hope for this game to come out over here though.  I just hope for a decent fan translation.

When the tale of their journeyings was told, there were other tales, and yet more tales, tales of long ago, and tales of new things, and tales of no time at all, till Bilbo’s head fell forward on his chest, and he snored comfortably in a corner.

He woke to find himself in a white bed, and the moon shining through an open window. Below it many elves were singing loud and clear on the banks of the stream.

Sing all ye joyful, now sing all together

The wind’s in the tree-top, the wind’s in the heather;

The stars are in blossom, the moon is in flower,

And bright are the windows of Night in her tower.

Dance all ye joyful, now dance all together!

Soft is the grass, and let foot be like feather!

The river is silver, the shadows are fleeting;

Merry is May-time, and merry our meeting.

Sing we now softly, and dreams let us weave him!

Wind him in slumber and there let us leave him!

The wanderer sleepeth. Now soft be his pillow!

Lullaby! Lullaby! Alder and Willow!

Sigh no more Pine, till the wind of the morn!

Fall Moon! Dark be the land!

Hush! Hush! Oak, Ash, and Thorn!

Hushed be all water, till dawn is at hand!

“Well, Merry People!” said Bilbo looking out. “What time by the moon is this? Your lullaby would waken a drunken goblin! Yet I thank you.”

“And your snores would waken a stone dragon - yet we thank you,” they answered with laughter. “It is drawing towards dawn, and you have slept now since the night’s beginning. Tomorrow, perhaps, you will be cured of weariness.”

In Season 3 Combiner Force Episode 10 “Disordered Personality” ,
focus on a street race and you see someone familiar….
Knockout!!! Well, atleast the vehicle he scanned once. Point is: This is not the first time we see this car, in another episode (I don’t have a pic nor do I know which episode…) we see Knockouts vehicle mode next to Strongarm after she and Bumblebee got stuck in a parking lot where they got towed (sorry dont know the name).

It this some kind of forshadowing or just some kind of Easter Egg??
Is Knockout really back on Earth, just undercover alone? I mean, he was involved in street races in TfPrime before…
Anyway, it would be really cool to see him offically in the show! And even if he was, hopefully he would stay more than just one or few episodes long!!

Its cool to see the creators put this car in some episodes as some kind of Easter Egg! ^-^

But yeah, I wish a lot to see Knock Out in the series. How he would look like in this show, what he’s like (hopefully his old personality), who would voice him and most important; how he does as an Autobot!!

The last pic is about something different I wanted to point out.
You can see Dragstrip and Wild Break (I love him xD) and in this scene, we get a reference to Powerglide from G1!!!
Dragstrip quoting Powerglide (to Wild Break):
“And aawaayyy yyoouu gooo!!”

Sorry for the long post and my sometimes illogical sentences…^^“
I try to form better sentences so it doesnt sound weird…
Im not a native English speaker soo…its a bit difficult.

the finale of car boys got me kinda sad and reflective

unironically

i really appreciate nick and griffin’s sense of humor and improv storytelling

griffin especially, his content and essence means a lot to me, and is really inspiring. i feel like i have a lot in common with him, at least in terms of his car boys/monster factory/rose buddies/mbmbam raw goofiness vs his adventure zone sincerity and care. he is constantly creating things, but nothing is wholly serious or wholly goofy, he has an interesting brand of a little of both, and the degree to which each portion is portioned varies depending on which series it is, but its always recognizably him. i would know a griffin mcelroy quote just from the way its worded, and im not just talking about the amount of “boy”, though that’s a big part.

idk. i’m not gonna claim that the mcelroys are flawless angels because they aren’t and they would hate if people called them that. they’re just human beings. but i’m allowed to be inspired by human beings right? looking at the sheer volume of griffin’s prolific body of work just in the last two or three years alone is impressive. he had been writing for polygon and recording mbmbam every week for a long time, but around 2015 he started doing monster factory, car boys, mbmbam, polygon game overviews, the adventure zone, and in 2016: rose buddies, griffins amiibo corner, coolgames inc, the mbmbam tv show, the nuzlocke of pokemon y, and most recently peacecraft.

there’s so much that he does and it all has a certain standard of quality. and most importantly, he achieves that standard of quality on a weekly basis, for each of those shows.

whether or not you like him or think he’s a perfect angel, that’s impressive.

and inspiring.

it makes me want to work hard to be creative. i want to make things that i can be creatively proud of and i really have to thank griffin mcelroy for being the role model that he is. he’s not perfect, but when he fucks up, he works on it and strives to be better. all the mcelroys do. when someone pointed out his Lup voice could be a little transphobic, he took it extremely to heart and worked on it, and came back the next week with something natural and better. he didn’t include a trans character for leftist brownie points, he did it because he’s very genuine in everything he does, and he wants to represent a character that he feels is important. if he was doing it for uncaring “i’m so good” points, he wouldn’t have listened to that criticism. but he did, because he wants to do a significant part of his audience justice.

i appreciated car boys and i appreciate griffin’s passion for what he does and the commitment he has to constantly learning and improving. this all means a lot to me. i know im rambling but i dont feel like editing this.
