anyways tumblr is fucked up bc the concept of “call outs” have been completely appropriated by rich white kids with low social interaction who use it as a platform to handle any and all slightly messy conflict. like? the purpose of a call out post should first and foremost be centered around warning others about a potentially dangerous user. and that can mean different things (such as abusive ex partners where you cant contact the police/authorities or violently racist/misogynistic/homophobic weirdos) but it definitely shouldnt mean “this user vagued me last week and is friends with someone who is mutuals with someone who did smth mildly microaggressive two years ago”

and ik jokes about “show me the receipts” are over done but godfuckingdamn there is some value in actually showing what the person did directly so other ppl can judge for themselves. like its a very easily manipulated tactic used often by abusive ppl as a way to isolate their victims. and more recently its a very easily manipulated tactic used as a way to fuck around w ppl who pissed u off mildly.

like if yr using call out posts as a way to handle yr interpersonal drama uve already fucked up. if ur going around and messaging ppl abt a “dangerous user” bc they vagued you once and has some tentative connection w some other user nobody knows or cares about uve double fucked up. these are aggressive fear tactics being used to keep a group of friends in line. these are abusive tactics being used to punish and subdue anyone who has a disagreement on the simplest shit. and overall its a really dangerous way to handle shit bc it opens up the person to attack and harassment.

and also, like lol sidenote: yall are annoying bc cant we just go back to middle school where we get in arguments and fight someone and then its chill? that was so much fucking easier.

i don’t really have any specific reference places but here’s some things i do. 

 drawing birds is arguably one of the hardest animals because of their feathers. unlike fat and fur that folds to the body in a way that’s usually readable to whats underneath, feathers sort of create a ‘bubble’ around the body which makes a lot of body parts indistinguishable to where one ends and another begins. so its important to always think in terms of skeletal anatomy:

birds are dinosaurs and therefore reptiles. looking at birds this way, it’s a lot easier to see their evolution.

with that in mind, say we wanna draw this dude. owls are pretty tough because their outward appearances are so deceiving.

we’ve got a neutral pose, feathers are generously surrounding most of the body so its no sweat, we don’t really know whats going on. but we can hide it. but now we want to make him move and look cool. without really knowing whats going on we might get stuck on something like this:

its always kind of stiff and frustratingly unrealistic. mostly this is because we just don’t have enough knowledge of the skeletal structure to work with. eyeballing anatomy on our first drawing might get something like the left, more than anything people aren’t generous enough with leginess of birds:

 owls do indeed have regular proportioned necks with the rest of their bodies. and their skulls are like that of any other stereotypical raptor under their mask of feathers (minus their freaky eye sockets and ears)) they can open their mouths wide just like a hawk or eagle can. it’s important to remember that birds with large wingspans do not magically lose their length when hidden. they are just conveniently folded in against their bodies.

knowing this we can try again. suddenly things seem to click in place more and have a believable-ness to them.

the rule of thumb for most birds is they have less body mass and more leg/neck than one thinks. they are lanky dinosaurs.

when we are looking at this:

we are seeing this:

with that rule, drawing birds becomes a lot less confusing. with practice you might just eyeball their feathered appearances but if not, going back to skeletal/muscle structure gives the base you need to draw convincing birds.

when it comes to specific body parts, the most challenging part for me personally have always been feet. birds with super twiggy feet are easier because one line per toe is easy to get away with. but when you get to birds with meatier feet, especially raptors, it gets difficult. my way of getting around this is to think of the actual ‘feet’ last. drawing each separate toe first gets confusing because you just find yourself trying to get them to each fit evenly together at the base of the foot. one always seems kind of skinnier or fatter than the others in my experiences, and by the time you correct it the gesture gets muddled and lost.

so i just skip that part until later, i draw talon first.

perhaps this is very unorthodox, but just like artists might square in the hands first on a human before working out the arms, i square in the talons to know where i want them before worrying how they go on exactly.

that way we have a clear gesture captured, and in my experience it is much more readable.

thats’ really all i can think of now in terms of my techniques, i hope this helps :V

I am not shy. Having a social disorder does not make you shy. I can be loud. I laugh a lot. I’m outspoken and will do crazy stuff. I can take up all the space and I can voice my opinion. I can take attention. But ONLY around people I’m comfortable with.

I get panicked at the shop. I can’t go shopping or anywhere on my own. I can’t pay for items by myself. I have to count my change 20 times first. If I can’t plan the conversation I won’t talk to them. Talking to people i don’t know is almost impossible and talking in front of people is torture. I have to rehearse the words yes Mrs every morning to answer a register. If I’m out alone i can’t breath. Someone is always judging me. The way I look, how i walk, the clothes i wear… if someone laughs it’s always at me. These thoughts will drown me. I am terrified of telling new people about my interests from fear of judgement. When out with friends i will always watch what i say, I might slip up otherwise and everyone will hate me. I worry my friends just don’t know how to get rid of me. Every. Single. Day. When I leave a social situation i always regret most of what I say and think nobody really likes me. They just tolerate me. When someone asks if I’m ok. I have to say yes. If I talk about my real feelings, they will think I’m annoying and won’t care. They will call me dramatic. So it’s easier to say I’m good. If a friend even jokes about me. I take it to heart and pretend it’s funny. The minute I’m alone, I think of ways to change. I dwell on awkward moments that I shouldn’t. I can’t make eye contact, its to much. I cross the street so I don’t pass anyone. I’m terrified when someone says can we talk. I have read this post about 100 times for mistakes, from fear someone will point out a flaw.

These are some of what I go through. But I am not shy. No where near. Don’t confuse the two. There’s shyness but there’s also social disorders. They are not the same thing.

some SOFT CIVILIAN ANGEL CONCEPTS, because i love civilian angels:

1.

a lone virtue, much smaller than many virtues but larger than some, is assigned with just one miracle– any miracle, it doesn’t matter, so long as it is moved by grace. some virtues turn planets with their miracles, but this one knows it should start smaller. much smaller, probably. it touches down in new york city, 1947, between a bustling club and a small pawn shop.

it’s very easy, once both feet are on asphalt, to stop listening to the hum of every voice in heaven and to focus on the the chorus here on earth; new york is as busy as the gates to purgatory and twice as noisy. and the music… there is really something to be said for the boundless nature of human music. the virtue sits in the window of the club and watches the musicians’ hands, losing days learning swing jazz measures.

after a while, the virtue sends a prayer up to God: “can i stay right here, where music and light never stops? there are countless patterns to it, and i want to see how people dance.”

so the virtue completes its task– one miracle, moved by grace: it learns to play the double bass, and joins a jazz band.

2.

there are a few reasons God never sends seraphs to earth, the first of those being that they can never seem to stick the landing. the first seraph’s attempt is long, long before humankind is around to be embarrassed for it.

“smaller. slower. much less fire next time.” God says, grimacing.  “try again in 65 million years or so.”

3.

it is the duty of a throne to know and impart all the wisdom of heaven, intermediaries for the rest of the angels and saints. this is an awful lot of knowledge, even for a mind as endless and intricate as a maze of mirrors– so much that some thrones can’t be bothered with the sharing. some find that human ears don’t take too well to their voices, simply can’t hear them at all, like colors outside a visible spectrum. one throne finds it’s much easier to whisper secrets to the dirt, all her voices at once, and make flowers bloom.

4.  

a few odd million years later, the seraph finally makes its way to earth. it gets the pacing right, squeezes itself into a form just about perfectly human, and causes no extinctions this time. but here’s another reason God never sends seraphs: they just don’t know how to shut up once they get going.

“listen, you’re on earth now. there’s only so many hours in a day for talking, learn to make it count.”

the seraph approximates a frown and says “but talking is my favorite.”

“and you’re very good at it. just maybe try only one voice and language at a time. speaking in multitudes scares the kids.”

“that seems fair.”

“– and enough with the flames.”

“i will try.”

“and remember you don’t need to cover your face when people look at you– i promise they won’t burn up.”

5.

there’s a principality who spends all their time with dogs.

they abandon their post in heaven and come to earth with the express purpose of opening a shelter for abandoned ones, big and small, young and old. “but… couldn’t you have just let a human do that? isn’t that what humans do?” asks one skeptical angel, a malakhim, lowest of the choirs. “aren’t you supposed to be overseeing the rest of us? isn’t that your job?”

“because,” says the principality, comfortable under a pile of sleeping puppies. “half of you are so tiresome. look at these– these are the real angels.”

Writers: Break the Rules

The entire reason we want to have writing “rules” is so that we can break them

Between my annoyed ranting and my personal opinions, it slipped my mind that many people haven’t been told this, and it’s only been brought to my attention recently that my own posts (and many others) don’t emphasize this point nearly enough.

Please take every writing guideline with a grain of salt. 

If someone says don’t do this it should never mean don’t ever do this but rather do this sparingly in order to get the effect you want out of it.

If you use stammers and ellipses to show pacing throughout your story, those things become the pacing itself. But if you use the sentence structure and action tags to show pacing, you can use stammers and ellipses to show anxiety, or create a unique speech pattern for a particular character, or a multitude of other cool things.

If you constantly use epithets to describe every character in your story, they become a long, often annoying alternate to a pronoun or name. But if you cut out most epithets, and just use a specific one to refer to a particular person or group of people, you can show something about your pov character’s view of the world, whether prejudice or admiration or adoration; the possibilities are endless. 

The same idea can be applied to most things pertaining to writing. Remember that almost anything you use frequently throughout your writing will loose its point. That’s why said is such a good dialogue tag. Once you use it enough times, most readers don’t notice it anymore. 

So when you read a writing guideline, one of your first thought should not be that’s a foolish rule or wow my writing must be terrible, but rather in what ways could this rule be broken in order to achieve a certain effect? 

Once you know that, it’s much easier to tell if the rule itself (and the breaking of it) is something you think would benefit your writing, or if you’d be better off ignoring it entirely.

PR relationship vs Private...

I’ve stumbled across a few fandoms in my time; real life ships vs on screen. Many who expose themselves pretty early on as being nothing but pushing a person(s) career along, networking a show, promotion of a movie or movie franchise and so on. It’s usually pretty easy to point them out; getting faces out there, carefully planned shopping trips or eating out in places ‘all of Hollywood’ go to eat. A stroll down a street that is ear marked by paps as the street a certain someone or someone’s will be walking; my PR calls your PR agency to arrange a time and a place.

I could list the amount of 'PR’ couples who have and still do just that, but I’m not writing this to name names and point fingers. I’m merely putting across that this did, does and still happens in the show business industry. And those who are new to following shows or movies with fandoms attached, better train your BS skills in to what is 'fact’ over what is 'fiction.’ A real couple (as in one who have got together privately off screen, regardless of time, work ethic or closeness) know the dangers involved in getting together; media attention, scrutiny from other cast, fan scrutiny and public appraisal or disappointment. Outside of work is very limited to where you can go without being seen, particularly if you don’t want anyone to know about you. It’s too easy to get trapped into that kind of pressure, actors are after all still human and stress over the same things you and I do. Except their lives are like living in a goldfish bowl, swimming around aimlessly while the outside world judges them and boy! Do we judge.

So…it’s not uncommon for a 'private’ relationship to remain private for the time being. If you are 'like most shows/movies’ a couple who are linked romantically in the storyline; your face and acting are the main base for promoting, it becomes even more stressful, when forced to understand that a movie or shows success rides heavily on your 'believable’ chemistry with your lead. When it becomes 'too’ believable, well that’s when tongues wag and if tongues wag it can mean failure to not only the show/movie, but also the financial investment (studio, media advertisement, merchandising, futures tie ins etc) as an actor you are known as the cash cow; marketing earns money of your back. A show that may have the prospect of longevity, does not want to damage itself, bolting before it’s been released from the stocks. Nor does the movie want to cripple itself financially, before it’s even released to the public. So yes, a 'private’ relationship between two actors can cause a huge headache for both investors, studios and networks trying to push an investment and again I will stress TV shows or movies are financial investments as are the actors, whose faces 'market’ that investment.

You’re only as good as your last performance.
Many believe that you have a choice, fans seem to think you can March right into the board of directors, demand they allow you to live your life, that they cannot tell you want to do with your private life as it belongs to you - wrong, so very wrong. Everything about an actor belongs to a studio. Your public life is a performance, your private life should never be seen. You are a piece of clothing, to be promoted, advertised, displayed and sold to the highest bidder…as long as your agent and manager get as much money as you are worth out of it, of course.
This is unfortunately the black and white, you need to earn money, they need to earn money, the studio or network of studios need money and financial investors need the money they put into the project they invested heavily in, in order to create a profit and success. Romantising in a different light does not work, simply because it’s not reality. Your 'private’ relationship is the difference between success and failure. Off screen romances are a huge no no, your agent, manager, studio want nothing more than it to remain hidden from the public. Studio bosses will be sweating with clauses you many have broken, NDAs are scrutinised and checked to make sure no leaking to the media happens…it’s a financial noose around a studios neck, particularly a very young TV show or the beginning of a movie franchise with the hope of more movies to come.

So…this is why a couple, who no fault of their own, but human nature, fall in love on set, off set - in the privacy of their own private bubble…find themselves in a situation were they cannot disclose what really is going on. Instead play the dumb 'we are best friends, best buddies, supportive and deeply fond of each other’ card. Except body language tells a different story.

The wonderful world of a 'PR’ relationship.
A relationship with nothing to hide. Happy to walk arm and arm down a busy street, go shopping together, get seen at wineries or dinner in an exclusive well known restaurant. Go to public events together or are simply seen as nothing short of 'fake Ken and Barbie’ it’s all to do with image, with promotion and little to do with personality. A good PR agent will see the opportunity of promoting careers, help image, get work. It’s all to do with networking a story, get the media chatting, all along its just a performance. Friends yes, they would need to have some kind of razor or slight chemistry to pull it off. Although there have been a few awkward ones in the passed where neither looked entirely happy to be with each other and yet were supposedly selling a sizzling romance? You also get others behind it; work colleagues, people with clout in the industry, well known faces or names to support this 'showmance’ and yes it has been done in the past, to act as someone’s 'beard’ (ie to cover up the truth) mainly due to the actors sexual orientation or (despise the use of the word gay) relationship with another… they are easier to spot, its always promoted in such a way to get it out there, it doesn’t gradually appear, it just gets put into the public eye in a way that just screams 'too much’

Don’t believe me? How many recent romances, indeed horribly ended marriages have happened due to PR? How many look at a recent paparazzi saturation of a couple, who just looks 'too convenient, too set up, short lived’ to not want you to roll your eyes so far to the back of your head? I can name a few famous singers, whose agency promotes that kind of romance; when an album or single is about to drop, or the eye candy at the time has a movie needing a lot of promotion? As I said PR romances or showmances happen all the time. Self serving for a period of time and then it’s time to move on. No self respecting actor wants their private life splashed across the media. Have fan sites dedicated to pap photos taken of them when they don’t want to been seen. Get hounded by endless questions by parasites (photographers freelance) at airports, calling your name, insulting the person you are linked with by nasty comments to get a reaction from you. That unfortunately is what happens when your 'private’ life is 'out there’ but a PR relationship they are humorous with. They, like other keen sighted people know it’s just for show, so don’t really make much of a fuss over it. It’s titillation, because they (media) know it won’t last for long…they never do.

So before you join a fandom of a movie or TV show, think long and hard of what you are about to get yourself into. There will be tears, there will be tantrums. And unless the object or objects of your desire are already married to each other or another person, then the likely interest will be purely on the cannon story arc and not off screen romances. But then again, frenzied fans see that as a challenge to ship the couple regardless and hate on their real life husband or wife, but that’s going down an even more darker path of fantasy. Or as it has happened in the past, marriages are tested when working very close with your co star, and unfortunately end. Sad but true - that’s just life…I suppose.

Writing Tips

OKAY SO I wanted to make a few tips for writers out there just because I felt like it would be a good idea and a lot of these are what people have told me that improved my writing. So let go. 

  1. OKAY SO 1st of all, you need to shut everything out tbh??? Lol that sounded weird BUT what I’m saying is if you write something and think it sounds too much like something else someone else has written just stop thinking about that AND CONTINUE!! I mean, sure it may be the same ideas BUT DIFFERENT PEOPLE WRITE DIFFERENT THINGS. Like you’ve seen Coffee Shop AUs, right? They’re all pretty much the same, but EVERYONE WRITES THEM DIFFERENTLY. I bet you if you gave three people an outline of a fic and told them to write it, it would all come out as completely different fanfictions/writings. Some people may choose to center it around a kiss and build up to that point and some people may not feel the need to explain that, so they emphasise the dialogue and how the characters interact. So when you write something, then realize that it sounds a lot like a book you read or a fic you’ve read, then don’t worry about it because chances are it’s a completely new thing entirely
  2. Okay so I really shouldn’t have a say in this because I am awful at it and don’t do it much BUT DON’T BE AFRAID TO EDIT. Usually when you first write something its more about just getting the words on a page than making a final piece. Also, complete rewrites sometimes help. I have finished a novel, and I wanted to edit, but I found it was easier to have it off to the side and open a new document and rewrite it that way. This is probably confusing but ye
  3. KEEP A NOTEBOOK ON YOU AT ALL TIMES. Sure, its a lot easier to use your phone and you can write things on it, but if you’re like me as you get towards the end of the day your phone kinda starts to reach the end of it’s life. So having a notebook kinda helps when you get an idea and NEED to write it
  4. Continuing with that, if you’re stuck on a certain part of a story, sometimes a change of materials helps. A lot of the time I was typing something on the computer and I got stuck and closed the computer. Then I take out a notebook and BOOM I write a million words a minute. So its good to keep your fanfics and stories on Google Docs or something like that so you can type on your phone and on the computer. Then you can switch between those three things if you need to 
  5. Okay so this is something that I need to start doing and a lot of amazing people on here have suggested it (*cough* *cough* @dwarf-scum) but try setting up certain times to write. It will help train your mind to focus on that during those times
  6. Close tumblr when you write. I have a hard time doing this, but when you turn off all notifications and close the tab, it really focuses your mind
  7. Despite what people might say, FANFICTION IS GREAT!! It is great practice despite what people say. It’s helped me expand my writing abilities and gave me experience with different genres that I wouldn’t normally write about. It also helped me find my strengths and weaknesses, which is a good thing to know.
  8. OKAY THE BEST ADVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED IN MY 14 YEARS OF EXISTENCE IS details. I can tell you, this advice was what changed my writing completely. A lot of us write something and get so caught up in the moment that we forget to slow things down and give readers a clear picture. Take your time to explain the scenery or the emotions swirling through a character as they prepare to go onstage for a play. Take your time with it not everything has to be one thing after another. For example, you could say, “She ran through the abandoned corridor of the school into her classroom.” Or you could say “She ran through the abandoned corridor, the pale blue lockers seeming to make it stretch forever and ever as her feet slapped against the white tiles, her flats flapping with each footfall. Her heart racing, she reached the door of her classroom, sweat trickling down her neck as her hair came loose of it’s neat pony-tail.” As you can see, both of these are very different and the second one helps you better picture the scene. 
  9. Lol this is literally something I learned in fifth grade but SHOW NOT TELL. THis is literally so helpful when writing and kinda goes along with what I said before. Basically don’t just say “she was angry” explain how she was angry. What kind of things might she do in order to seem angry? Would she slam things? Stomp? Would her face be red with a frown? EXPLAIN IT!

lol so those are 9 tips and I could /possibly/ add more if I think of some. But I think the most valuable ones are the last two because that’s how you pull readers in. Hope you enjoy!!!!

This world is much to big to blind yourself to the wonder this world has to offer through its abundant and beautiful people.

And if you can’t write a character that’s different than you, research. If you can’t do good research, reach out to those people. If you somehow think that white and straight people are the default, if you think that they are /so/ much easier to write on account of their whiteness and straightness, you are, simply put, not a good writer.

The best way to get better at writing is to write. What is difficult to write now will become so much easier after you write, and write, and write. There’s a big world out there just waiting for you to put them to paper. Never underestimate your imagination and how creative you are. You are only limiting yourself if you don’t push your limits.

This 2017, and for years to come, challenge yourself and become the best writer you can be!!!

Asthma Attack

Not requested, but this idea has been on my mind for a while because I think we all need worried, concerned boyfriend Shawn. Also who had asthma when they were younger or still have it?? 🙋🏻 I never had bad asthma attacks so sorry if this is inaccurate. Just focus on how adorable worried/protective Shawn is.

Shawn is spending the week in LA to do some writing so he asked you to come along so that you two could spend some time together and explore the city whenever he had time off. You agreed, but you didn’t realize until you were already in LA that it wasn’t a great idea because it made your asthma act up. When you were younger, you used to have really bad asthma. As you grew older, you grew out of it a bit, but you still have to deal with it and worry about it once in a while, but for the most part it doesn’t affect your everyday life.

Episode 15...

Okay… I don’t have a lot of time to write this so if I’ve missed anything, if there are any huge grammatical errors, if I’ve COMPLETELY missed the point then I’m very, very sorry!  (I may write more later as I have a lot of thoughts)

Here’s the deal.

This episode was basically the writers way of telling us Oliver and Susan aren’t going to make it. Which is why I’m so okay with it. Did chunks of it feel off? Yes. Did Oliver come across as kind of spineless? Yes. Did Shady Snoozan come across as even more of a selfish cow than we thought she was? Absolutely. Did we feel for Felicity? Damn straight. Did we see everything we HATE seeing from Arrow ON Arrow? Yup…

Do you think the writers, directors and producers don’t (etc) know we hate it?

Of course they flipping do.

Is episode 15 normally the episode where we what we really don’t want to fucking see?

Again, YES.

Would it have been better to just be rid of SW? Oh hell yes- I’LL FREAKING DO IT!

But then, how will Prometheus succeed in turning someone Oliver cares about against him?

Starting, I’d like to say something about Oliver.

He’ll always do dumb shit: I expect it now. I’d love to be rid of it. But I expect it.

In episode 15, a lot of the time I was basically wondering when he became so needy. And by needy I don’t mean ‘he lives and breathes SW’. I mean, he desperately wanted her to see him as the good guy. The hero. Someone who has succeeded in securing the affections of a woman determined to see him as a thug.

Notice how Felicity tells him he’s a hero in this episode without prompt? Don’t you think that was a deliberate script device?

It’s been done before; right when he needs to hear it, there she is. Telling him. Again. SW didn’t say it; she did.

The wonderful @almondblossomme hit the nail on the head: episode 15 was a compare and contrast of how Felicity and Susan differ.

Just one example: SW cared more about her job than anything else. The moment she got it back she was all over him. Hate the bitch. Whereas Felicity has, time and time again, given up professional standing for Oliver. I’m just going to leave that there because I don’t need to hammer in just how much better Felicity is.

What I do want to say – to emphasise – is how alone Felicity was.

Now I’d like to stop you before you all go off on the rampage because, as much as I understand why, this was also deliberate. This episode was the point where Felicity didn’t just feel alone, she was alone. They deliberately had everyone miss this about her: Dig who knew her better than most and Oliver who knows her best of all… even Thea.

No one saw it.

They even had Oliver come to ask for her help with Susan.

In her head, she has nothing.

So she turns to Helix.

Now I’m thrilled with this because Olicity’s ADULT CONVERSATION is going to happen whilst SW is kidnapped: no shady lady to interrupt. But I’m also guessing that Felicity once again uses her skills and connections to help Oliver in HIS life. To help him be happy or at least that is what she’ll believe she’s doing.

He might see this; her wanting him to be happy and he’ll wonder why SHE ISN’T. He’ll ask questions. He’ll ask why are you doing this for me? And she’ll say some variation of: “I just want you to be happy.”

Pause.

They really are reversing it this year between them aren’t they?

Now we’ve been informed that SW will be held by Chase for more than 1 episode. This is to drum up the panic of it all – though they know we couldn’t care less – but it also gives Prometheus enough time to infect SW.

To pervert her easily changeable perception of Oliver. There’s more than a good chance she’ll come out of it either openly hostile towards him or wanting nothing to do with him out of fear.

(Now, it’s almost possible that she could be working in collaboration with Prometheus but either way they’re making her a victim.)

They’re also making her a loose end and a nuisance. A weak point. Unnecessary. A target, Like Billy. On purpose.

Look Green Arrow: look how easily you loose the people who care about you?

Oliver was trying so hard to move on and his first true attempt has fallen flat on its ass, he knows it has. But he’s fighting. He’s fighting because taught him to, he’s fighting because she said NO. She didn’t want him to fight and it’s so much easier beating your head against play-do than it is against steel.

THAT’S WHY HE WANTED SW TO FORGIVE HIM.

The questionable circumstances of HOW would have come to him later; but all he wanted right then was to succeed.

This is all about Olicity: if he can make it work here, maybe he can make it work there.

Prometheus deliberately targeted Billy. He did this in the hopes of screwing Oliver’s life up some. But, though this created a vacuum of guilt in Oliver, it did not turn Felicity against him.

Now, he’s taken SW, when CONVENIENTLY the only way to help find her rests with HELIX. With Felicity. Role reversal.

Either the writers are being very obvious or very sneaky.

Remember Ray? Remember how Felicity was all over keeping him safe and with her in episodes 17 and 19? She even did PDA IN FRONT OF OLIVER.

Episode 15 of season 5 is roughly our 17 equivalent.

Either – like Billy – SW is going to bite it, or it’ll be the consequences of what happen to her that cause a ripple effect afterwards on Olicity.

It caused a ripple after Billy’s death too: Oliver and Felicity had a very real, very honest conversation/argument.

THIS will force another one: possibly more than one (dear God PLEASE).

I always thought that two or three very brutal, very open talks between them would shift EVERYTHING. It just so happens the writers had to space it out for an entire season.

This season has been one full of ‘how to not do relationships with Oliver’. It focuses on 3 women: Laurel (his past) Susan (his present) and Felicity (his future and always).  Learn from the past and present to make way for the future.

I still believe this; we have been told in one way or another (by the cast, the directors, the narrative etc) that Olicity will rise again and that their time is coming. Soon.

BE angry at this episode! Go for it. They want you to be livid so that they can surprise, shock and awe us all later like in season 3!

But don’t judge any later progression or any episode following this on number 15. In fact, leave episode 15 behind at the door. It isn’t needed anymore. It’s in the past.

In season 3, after episode 15 aired, the fandom threw an absolute shit fit.

Looking back at it, it was hilarious; we had nothing to worry about.

But at the time, it was awful. No one wanted to see Felicity with Ray whilst Oliver lay on a dungeon floor, while Oliver pinned. And we had to wait TWO WEEKS before episode 16 aired.

Remember episode 16? Like the sun shining again we received these little spots of hope. She’d slept with a man who ISN’T Oliver and yet, none of their chemistry was diminished. In fact; it just showed us that even sex can’t get in their way.

In that relationship Felicity and Ray fell out with each other because of the truth or lack of it. They got back together shortly afterwards.

Felicity and Billy did the same: I think they actually did it twice.

Now, so have Oliver and Susan.

Another deliberate tool.

Regardless of what happens, Felicity’s lack of blame on Oliver will reflect brightly on the very real blame SW will throw at him. The actor playing Chase has confirmed that an odd relationship will build between him and Susan and that she may feel betrayed by Oliver.

She may come to hate that she developed feelings for him, but be unable to act on it BECAUSE of her feelings for him.

Felicity couldn’t be played with – couldn’t be marred - but Susan can. Because she’s weak. Because she isn’t fit to be Oliver’s love interest. Because, like with Billy, she’s a tool.

We don’t care about Susan but we DO care about Olicity and this should generate a reaction from them both.

Now, I didn’t see Oliver as crapping all over his alter ego by labelling the Green Arrow a criminal. I think it could have been done far better but I also saw it as two things: first, he was taking on the sins and pains of others (like they do with some comic superheroes; they make them into Jesus figures) and second, because Prometheus wanted him to do it.

And Prometheus has been very adept so far at making Oliver go down the route he wishes him to.

The big reveal for Prometheus was lame (maybe it’s MEANT to be) but you can’t deny the man is a criminal mastermind. In a way, he’s more capable than any other bad guy has been at hurting Oliver. And Oliver has no idea how close he is to loosing EVERYTHING.

We already know that Thea and Felicity are his big ‘no-no’s’. Criminals do not touch them and live to tell the tale.

Yet he as lost them both: he just lost Thea (she’ll return a little later on) and Felicity – though he doesn’t know it – is already gone.

Worse, she went away and no one noticed.

Bear in mind that we’ve been told by Marc G, that Oliver will end the season balanced as a hero: he’ll be both Oliver Queen and the Green Arrow. So obviously this ‘let’s vilify my alter ego to by us time’ moment of glory was just that: a moment. An episode to show that Oliver Queen has evolved just as much as his alias.

Remember Talia who gave him the outfit to wear so that he could ‘vent’ for lack of a better word, his demons? So he could express his violence so that he could wear the mask of Oliver Queen?

Well, he doesn’t NEED it anymore.

But soon he’ll CHOOSE it. And he’ll do it in front of an audience Star City.

And a big part of how he’ll do that will be Felicity. There’s no way he can become this balance human without knowing she’s right there with him, balanced too. Either he’ll step up to guide her or her actions will push him in her direction but it will include her.

What I’m trying to say, is that – in terms of Oliver and Felicity, this is the low point. I’m concentrating upwards.

Admittedly I’m hastened on this by Stephen who answered some ‘damage control’ questions earlier. One of the things he stated was that a lot of Oliver’s choices that people are hating on so much are a sign that Prometheus’s plan is working. Oliver isn’t out of the woods yet: this is a decline. The next 3 episodes will decide the fate of SW and Oliver and either someone will die OR something very bad will happen to someone.

Even with this crap, I can still see a love scene guys. Pacing has always been an issue: don’t think they won’t do it. And we know (like with 3x20) how much can change in 1 episode. But love scene or no, I’m watching till the end and believe that we’ll see what we need to.

A reunion.

The narrative STILL leads there. If it changes then I’ll change my opinion.

(I d have a lot of OTHER thoughts about Oliver in this episode though… Jesus)

Idk if it's just me but I imagine Tony Stark will 100% be making good functioning prosthetic limbs for people (particularly kids) and I imagine him really wanting to find a way that reduces pain for people that wear them

Going with how quickly he seemed to come up with rhodey’s braces, something tells us that he was already working on similar projects on his own, before he had a personal reason to. But all the more once he does. 

Tony like RDJ, showing up with prosthetic arms/hands that look like iron man gauntlets that make little kids’ lives so much easier and little kids so excited cause hey, they’re just like iron man!

I know a lot of people are bugged by the fact that Sanvers don't hold hands but I kinda like that Alex always has her arm around Maggie's shoulders cause it's like she doesn't want to settle for holding hands, she wants to have as much physical contact as possible with her even when they're out in public. Not to mention it makes it easier to pull her out of the way/shield her if they were attacked on the streets so Alex can keep her safe more easily. (I have feelings about this.)
