the howlies got in a lot of bar fights. you might think that the last thing a bunch of soldiers would want to do with their free time is fight people, but actually bar fights were a great stress relief. nobody really got seriously injured, and we tried to keep property damage to a minimum. (and we also almost never started bar fights, for the record. most of the time it was guys from another unit who wanted to prove how badass they were by taking on the infamous howling commandos.) so bar fights themselves weren’t that unusual.
but peggy’s bar fights…oh, they were glorious.
see, peggy never got in a fight for no reason; she was smarter than that. but when she did fight, it was truly beautiful. ive never seen a better right cross, before or since.
so one time we were on leave, sipping drinks in this english pub. the howlies were at the back table, enjoying a couple pitchers, while peggy was up at the bar, chatting with the barmaid. many of the bars and pubs back then had female bartenders–filling the gaps with the men off at war. and generally barmaids (which was what a female bartender was called back then) were the sort of girl pegs got along with–sensible, dependable, and not willing to take shit from any man. so she often enjoyed commiserating with the barmaids while we drank. she used to say she had to be free of us ‘charming gentlemen’ before she wound up blowing things up as erratically as we did. which was hurtful. our explosions were very intentional. mostly.
so peggy got to chat about the best ways to hurl drunken idiots out doors and we got to ply steve with alcohol to see how much booze it would take to make him drunk. (tragically, we never found out.)
on this particular occasion, peggy was sitting at the bar when this mountain of a man came in. and i mean huge. thor-sized. like the hulk’s pinker younger brother. and with him came a dozen or so of his closest friends, all locals. (they may also have been poorly disguised orcs. im not sure, but i wouldn’t discount it as a possibility after seeing all the nonsense ive seen) the group of them made their way up to the bar, wedged their way in, and started harassing the barmaid.
now, i don’t know what they said. peggy refused to repeat it. all i know is that one of the larger idiots said something stupid, laughed, and reached out to grope the barmaid. his hand made it about six inches from her chest when peggy’s fist broke his nose. he hit the floor like a tree falling, and the bar went quiet for a split second before one exceptionally suicidal idiot lunged at peggy.
everything went crazy. there were a good few dozen of us 107th guys in the bar, and all of us knew and adored pegs, so when the mountain-men went after her, every fine man of the 107th went after them. but it turned out that the locals defended their own, and we were pretty evenly matched for numbers. within seconds, everyone was throwing punches. bottles were thrown. dernier used a tablecloth to blind a man and threw him out a window. dumdum used one guy’s fists to hit another guy. i hurled bottlecaps at people’s eyeballs, because it’s fun.(im a sniper. we like distance) steve tried to wade through the chaos to get to peggy, but people kept punching him and then clutching their hands in agony, so he got kind of bogged down.
at the bar, peggy was demonstrating exactly why she was the 107th’s darling–because she could put a grown man twice her size on the ground in two seconds flat. she knocked out six men; seven more promptly fell in love with her.
as the chaos began to wind down, most of the locals had either been beaten down or fled, and only the mini-hulk and a couple others were left, brawling like berserkers. we were just about ready to turn steve loose on them when the barmaid handed peggy a stool. peggy took it, walked up behind where most of us howlies were still duking it out, and broke the stool over the big guy’s head.
he went down hard. the rest of them surrendered out of terror.
(and, possibly, they had also fallen prey to abruptly-in-love-with-peggy-carter syndrome. but really, who wasn’t?)
WIP of a business card I am trying to make. I really like the look of these however I dont think I really like how they work with the type of design Im trying to make for the card. Its disappointing when you have to go back to the drawing board but its not like this experience was a waste or anything. Im happy to be sharpening my skill when it comes to digital painting so it was valuable practice.
Anywho, enjoy the various styles I attempted while trying to make this card!
There’s a beautiful man reading a book in the field behind
Zhenya’s backyard. The field is technically Zhenya’s property, but he never
bothered to do anything with it. At first he thinks he’s dreaming. Then, after studying
the guy’s clothing, looking as if he stole from the set of Little House on the
Prairie, he thinks he’s seeing ghosts.
“Are you ghost?” Zhenya asks, reeling Jeffrey in, who is
suddenly very interested in bounding over to the man and—sniffing him or
mauling him, Zhenya isn’t too sure. “Please say no.”

I have a weird headcanon that Steve absolutely hates The Dark Crystal. He cant stand the creepy puppets.
When Billy randomly picks it up from the movie rental shop for a date night with Steve he wasnt prepared to watch Steve struggle to watch it. Steve has his hands pretty much covering his eyes the whole time.
So yea, I’ve been playing Battleborn since its release and wanted to draw my main, finally. I love this Time joking, Hobo hating, sociopathic german butler bot. Shoot me up for a game perhaps. XD Have a nice day guys.
+yoi presents: fandom-wide day of creator appreciation
#yoiappreciationday august 11-12, 2017 !!
fandom-wide day of creator appreciation is a day (or in this case, a set of days) dedicated to showing how grateful we are to the people who create, and how much we admire their hard work and dedication to the fandom and to their craft. this includes but is not limited to the following medias: fic, art, graphics, edits, music, meta, translations, fsts, amvs, rpers, event organizers, and bakers.
show your appreciation on august 11 and august 12 by sending your fave creators kind messages through @positivelyyoiask/submit boxes, or posting dedications/gifts under the #yoiappreciationday tag!
+yoi will ensure anonymity for the shy or anxious among you, and going through this blog will also save your asks if you have a lot of people to appreciate! if you have gifts, pls make sure you tag them or @ the blog so we can share the love!
other ways to participate include commenting on your fave fics, reblogging your fave art/graphics, and gushing in the tags of your fave meta posts!
creators are the cornerstones of any fandom. these are the people who finish a long day at work or at school by providing fandom with fic, art, music, and edits that they spend time and effort creating. these are the people who make your headcanons and requests happen. these are the people who translate, bake, transpose, organize, and research. its time to make sure they know how necessary they are to our community!
if you have any questions abt this event pls direct them here!
id really appreciate if you could give this a reblog to help spread the love!
Thirdly: I am doing this more for the sake of my upcoming fic, Cherchez la Femme, which I have been working on for MONTHS–probably since Septemberish–than I am for Napoli. Also doing this for the sake of other authors who may feel this way, but don’t want to say anything for fear of making people mad. I personally am tired of dealing with my own anxiety about this subject, so I’m getting this off my chest.
I am exceedingly frustrated by the majority of attitudes (or non attitudes) I see towards anything that is not a one-shot on here. ESPECIALLY if it’s smut.
I like smut. I love smut. I’ve read some really good smut on here. But… that’s not all I’ve read on here. When I first got on Tumblr, I found some really unique and interesting fics, and I got very invested in them. But lately, the majority of what I’ve been seeing on this site is the same damn thing, over and over and over again. Smut one shots, no plot, no character development, no nothing. Those fics I was invested in were discontinued (temporarily, I hope) in favor of smut one shots, which, like I said, I don’t mind, but ya know… I also do.
Authors are capable of writing more than smut one shots.
Authors are capable of writing more than smut one shots. And many of them do write more than smut one shots. But I have seen two (2) of the multi-part fics I follow being seriously reblogged. That’s out of A LOT that I happen to read and like. One of my favorites got put on hiatus because there were no reads on the most recent chapter at the time.
Tumblr, seriously, what is going on? Like, I recognize that we all want to imagine ourselves having sex with some version of Sebastian Stan (ME TOO, I AM NOT EXCLUDING MYSELF FROM THAT GROUP) but some of these people have worked ages, ages on these fics. With well-developed characters and plot and settings and serious issues that are worked through. THESE PEOPLE I READ SHOULD WRITE ORIGINAL CONTENT AND GET PUBLISHED. In my world, they would. Because they are that good.
And yet, they get almost no recognition. And it frustrates me, and scares me, and makes me really, really sad. Some might say, “Tumblr is more (something else) than fanfic for me”–which is fine. Please engage in whatever joy may have brought you to Tumblr. But also remember that for others, it IS about fanfic, and they enjoy doing that just as much as you enjoy doing whatever you do. So hit the like button every once in a while. Read more fics of your favorite characters. Some might say, “I have –something that gives me a shorter attention span–, I can’t remember what happened before this chapter/can’t concentrate enough to get through a whole fic in the time I have”–in which case, you are fine, don’t worry about it, not a big deal. Some of you may say, “Works in progress are annoying, I hate waiting for new parts to come out”–and trust me, I’m right there with you. I’m waiting on a few new parts for fics myself (I’m also waiting for Diana Gabaldon’s next Outlander book, goddammit), but that doesn’t stop me from reading and commenting on the parts that are there! Tell the author that you have something to look forward to until the next part comes out! Also, TELL THE AUTHOR IF YOU ARE WAITING FOR THEM TO COMPLETE IT, or ask to be tagged in the final masterlist! We won’t mind if you do it that way! Some of you may just hate longer fics and there’s nothing anybody can do to change that. In which case, whatever floats your boat.
I’m not getting on anyone in the above paragraph to suddenly change your preferences and start reading fics with more than two parts. What I am saying, though, is if you consume, but don’t comment AND reblog (or at least tag and reblog), or if you don’t consume at all and blatantly ignore what authors are putting out there… come on, guys. We put our heart and souls into this stuff. Some of the stuff we write is taken from real life. Some people don’t have anything but their writing to help them get through what may be a really bad stage. Likes, comments, reblogs–writers need these. We don’t all have to be JK Rowling here, but we do hope to see that someone smiles or laughs, or cries, or feels in some way with our fics.
One of my friends on here was very sad a couple of days ago because she was getting very few notes on even her one-shots, or reblogs with no comments. She has 700+ followers and a taglist that’s a mile long. It made me sad for her, and I can’t even hug her because she lives far away from me. Readers, you don’t have to comment or reblog every chapter of a fic that’s been written, it’s really okay if you don’t, but let the reader know that you like it and acknowledge the work that’s been done.
I’m still relatively tiny on here, and I definitely need to follow more blogs, so I will now go looking. But, indulge me for a second: If, when I publish Cherchez, I deem it as not getting enough notes, I will make a goddamn video of myself deleting the thing off my computer and burning the damn notebooks. I started by writing this stuff for me. Napoli ended up being about someone I know who recently died. Cherchez was what I wrote when I was coming out of a breakdown. So yes, I write for myself. But as soon as I put it up here, it becomes yours. You consume it, you feel because of it. So really, guys, read all the smut you want. I know I’m going to. But read more than smut, too.
Someone who is a teeny bit oversmutted
(If you want to, you can check my tags for more info)
ok am i the only one who remembers that shit show with max meyer a while ago? like do y’all remember all of those articles about him but like people on here were really low key about it except for a few people who spoke out? idk i just get bad vibes from that but i may just be confused
I am SO TIRED of losing points on “participation” in class because of my fucking social anxiety.
There are something like 30 people in my History of Theater class. Out of those 30 people only maybe 8, at most, ever talk during the discussion portions of the lecture. EIGHT PEOPLE. And I’m pretty sure that 90% of those 8 people are performance emphasis people AKA they’re acting majors and/or fucking extroverts.
It’s NOT FAIR. Every other class just counts attendance as “participation”.
I’ve never missed a class, I always pay attention, I’m not on my phone or laptop or talking during class. And what do I get? A 70% for “participation”.
I loved this fucking teacher until this very moment. She can fight me in the fucking PIT.
They know that tragedy is not glamorous. They know it doesn’t play out in life as it does on a stage or between the pages of a book. It is neither a punishment meted out nor a lesson conferred. Its horrors are not attributable to one single person. Tragedy is ugly and tangled, stupid and confusing.
Because of this ask I received, I was inspired to find the clock in Mason Industries at the end of each mission to see how long they were gone. The clock starts the second they leave for the past and stops when they return. It is not visible every time (especially not in later episodes), but I’ll share what I can find or derive.
So, for anyone else curious just how long the team was in the past each episode, here you go.
1.01 - Pilot
15 hours, 8 minutes, 46 seconds
1.02 - The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
23 hours, 48 minutes, 56 seconds
1.03 - Atomic City
13 hours, 48 minutes, 18 seconds
1.04 - Party at Castle Varlar
21 hours, 29 minutes, 26 seconds
1.05 - The Alamo
N/A *This timeline is a conundrum.
Historically, the Alamo falls early in the morning on March 6th. Jiya says Flynn jumped to March 2nd. Lucy says the Alamo is not supposed to fall for four more days, so March 2nd. And yet the date that the title card flips over from in the beginning of the episode says, “03041836″: March 4th.
Considering the long shadows coming from the tents in Santa Anna’s camp, Flynn does not first meet with him at midday. It is morning or afternoon. Enough happens during that day (also the team would arrive later than Flynn and did not do so at night) that I’ll assume it’s morning and Flynn interrupts Santa Anna’s breakfast. That night, Flynn kills William Travis. Most of the episode takes place during the second day, March 3rd. I see no evidence of a second night, but for the title card to say March 4th implies that is when the battle takes place. (Even though the displayed date is usually the first day they jump to. However, 1.07 is another exception to this.) The conclusion for this trip is indeterminable. Perhaps the title card date is wrong, confused by the fact that their interference made the Alamo fall prematurely. I will ignore the title card and remark on what I see. Flynn arrived in the morning. There is one night. The Alamo fell in the afternoon of the second day.
This trip lasted two days but less than 48 hours.
1.06 - The Watergate Tape
N/A *Given Flynn’s time limit of five hours + any time before/after it until they returned, this trip most likely lasted 8-10 hours.
1.07 - Stranded
*NOTE: This screenshot is taken at the beginning of the episode, three hours after Flynn returned. The team remains in the past another night and day.
This trip lasted four days.
1.08 - Space Race
N/A *Flynn arrived late at night and left the next afternoon. The team was there for a lesser amount of time.
This trip lasted less than one day.
1.09 - Last Ride of Bonnie & Clyde
N/A *They arrived during the day, stayed the night, and left early the next morning.
1.10 - The Capture of Benedict Arnold
58 hours, 46 minutes, 38 seconds
*Blurry but the best shot I could get. I could be reading it wrong. I know the adventure itself lasted two days, and, logically, Wyatt and Rufus would then have to travel back to where they left the Lifeboat. 58 hours is a reasonable length of time, though it pertains only to Wyatt and Rufus. Flynn and Lucy would have been there less than 48 hours (perhaps 36 hours). They arrived on the morning of September 25th and left early in the night on September 26th, just after sunset.
1.11 - The World’s Columbian Exposition
N/A *After the episode first came out, I calculated that Lucy was with Flynn for at least 18 hours. Then she escaped.
Lucy and Flynn arrived, presumably, at night (if not before) and left at night. They were there a full day. Wyatt and Rufus were there for a shorter amount of time. We don’t see them until the next day.
This trip lasted one night and day for Flynn and Lucy, around 24 hours (or possibly more). Wyatt and Rufus were there 20 or less hours.
1.12 - The Murder of Jesse James
N/A *In the original timeline, Jesse James was killed by his partners in the morning. The time travelers were there that entire day. They camped at night. Spent the next day traveling. Made it to Emma’s cabin that night. Left the next day.
This trip lasted three days and around 48 hours.
1.13 - Karma Chameleon
N/A *Don’t hold me to this, but I believe Claire’s plane landed at around 1pm. I think the clock on the screen with the flights says 13:17. Last call for bars in Ohio (when Joel’s shift would end) is 2am. Shortly after that time, Joel and Claire went back to her hotel room, and later Wyatt interrupted them. After Joel’s death, Wyatt and Rufus leave. In the present day, it goes from being late at night/early in the morning to nighttime again in the end.
This trip lasted around 14-16 hours.
1.14 - The Lost Generation
N/A *Charles Lindbergh was supposed to land after 10pm. Flynn must have intercepted him in the late afternoon. The rest of the episode takes place at night without ever seeing morning.
This trip lasted several hours of an indeterminable count. Probably no more than 12-13 hours for the team.
1.15 - Public Enemy No. 1
N/A *I believe the clock above the hotel’s front door when Flynn first meets Capone says 11:10am. (But he would have been there a few hours already to steal all of the evidence he presented. Maybe since around 9am.) The team arrived four hours after him. When they go to the hotel later with Capone’s brother, the clock says 1:29am. They parked the Lifeboat in a field outside the city so travel needs to be included.
This trip lasted 14-16 hours.
1.16 - The Red Scare
N/A *They arrive during the day. The exact time is unclear, but with the Rittenhouse summit being that night, Flynn wouldn’t have risked waiting around for Lucy and Wyatt to show unless he had time to spare. He probably arrived in the morning or midday. The summit and climax occur that night. Don’t know what Flynn, Lucy, Wyatt, and Ethan spend the rest of the night doing, but they don’t drive into the warehouse with the Lifeboat until early the next morning.
This trip lasted two days but less than 24 hours.
There’s no real purpose behind this list besides curiosity. However, if you are interested in setting a fic during any of the episodes, here is the time span you have to do it in. Maybe that will help someone somewhere.
