Why Takumi is a 'wild card'

The main two routes in Fire Emblem: Fates (Conquest and Birthright) pit the two royal families of Hoshido and Nohr against each other. What each member does in the war is fairly predictable but Takumi consistently acts outside of what is expected of him as a third sibling. The younger the sibling, the less importance they are expected to have to the plot but Takumi throws this out of the window because he influences the plot more than any of the other siblings. Out of all the siblings, he is arguably the one with the weakest mindset, the one with the most mental weaknesses and is therefore vulnerable to manipulation among other things.

In Birthright, after his initial possession has been dealt with, you assume he’s now completely sound of mind like his other siblings. His persistent accusations are not perceived as unusual because he’s a naturally suspicious person, it’s in his nature to have doubt in strangers. This is exactly why Iago went after him; nobody would suspect Takumi of betraying them and Takumi himself didn’t even know he was still under Iago’s influence. He is an underlying factor in the tension and issues that arise during the Hoshidans’ journey in Nohr.

In Conquest, his influence is even more amplified. This time, it’s Anankos who is influencing him and even ends up fully possessing him after Takumi’s death. Like all his other siblings, he insists on fighting you. The pattern of what the Hoshidan siblings do has some similarities to the actions of the Nohrian siblings in Birthright. Take for example, Leo, who is in an equivalent position to Takumi. Leo fights you initially, disappears for a few chapters and then reappears to help you briefly before sending you on your way. You fight Takumi several times during the course of the game but he breaks the pattern when he jumps off the border wall. Though we suspect something suspicious is happening, we don’t yet have an explanation for it yet and just assume he’s dead. He’s dead so there’s no way he can come back to help you like Leo does…or so we think. He does return right at the end but he’s not here to help us. Anankos has seized possession over his body and he is now an endgame boss. Takumi has taken a position that is above even Garon who we expected to be the last one we fought. It is only when the avatar is in the coma like state that the true Takumi appears and he gifts you with the Fujin Yumi so that the Yato may be repaired. In this sense, he has appeared as both an enemy and an ally and has had equal importance in both aspects.

In conclusion, it is Takumi’s complex mentality that is developed on so vigorously which enables him to be a turning factor and be behind so many of the key plot points in both storylines.

EDIT: I’m getting some interesting points from ppl so I might edit this. Think of it as a first draft for now?

So… Real talk about Florida for a moment.

Butch is a very selfishsecretive and deceitful man. He trusts no one. He has a demeanor that says otherwise, being cheerful, open and friendly; but even that is a lie. Some on the MoI have a feeling about this, but even then they aren’t fully aware of his true intentions and goals. He’s scary enough that not even Texas wants to cross bad paths with him.

Some of that being said;

Florida has a rather selfless nature towards those he cares about, for those he deems worthy enough to have his care.

Let’s say he ends up ‘crushing’ or ‘loving’ someone, it doesn’t matter how that person feels towards him, they could reciprocate his feelings, just think of him as a friend or even hate him. Nothing will change how he feels towards the person and he will sacrifice things and even kill for them. He’ll protect them with everything he’s got and will not hold back. (Same with those he cares for in a family/friend matter, though it may not be as extreme.)

Even so, he may never vocalize his feelings towards someone he romantically fancies. He’ll joke about it, but always play it off as a joke. The only time he may reveal his true feelings about anyone is if he deems it worth telling.

Maybe this is all selfishness and isn’t selfless in anyway.

Regardless, Butch has a heavy desire for specific people and will do anything for them, no matter the cost. ]]

lmfao writing accessibly isn’t going to make you any less intelligent

Confession time! I haven’t heard a single song from Dear Evan Hansen. I don’t even really know what it’s about. But I’ve seen a lot about it recently and I kinda want to listen to it now?

I don’t want to ask if it’s good because clearly, it is. Everyone is crazy about it. What I want to know is: will I cry?

thoughts on A3-21 & the Railroad’s proclivity for mind wiping

I blame Harkness for the Railroad’s memory wiping hair trigger. I think when A3-21 escaped everything was new, and it was his decision to wipe his mind because he knew what the Institute and its Coursers were capable of, and knew that for him, a memory wipe was the best way to stay safe.

I feel like the Railroad sort of took that model and ran with it, because it worked so well with him who was himself a former Courser. He knew how the hunters worked because he was the best of them. It makes sense they’d take that model, but I don’t think it’s a good one for everyone and I think it’s forced on synths who are too afraid and too vulnerable to realize they have actual options.

DiMa talks about “victims of a mind wipe” and goes on to say: “A group dedicated to helping synths would convince them, though fear, that their only option is to hide. Yes, they volunteer for the memory wipe. Yes, not knowing you’re a synth makes it harder for the Institute to find you. But the cost…I know how frightening it is, the risk of capture” and goes on to say that it is a sacrifice of oneself.

And I agree. The newly escaped synths (H2 MY HEART MY SON) don’t know any better. They’re terrified in a brand new world, and they’re so vulnerable. They just need someone to trust and they trust absolutely.

I know the Railroad means well, and it’s a slippery slope here, but they’re halting any real progress the synths could make into becoming truly free on their own terms.

Let’s take a great line from Westworld:

If ALL THE HATE Lindsey Shaw received from emison sick shippers wasn’t enough, now this IMDb fake thing come up and she is getting more hate from people, EVEN IF HER CHARACTER IS AD, y’all have NO FREAKING RIGHT to spit hate on her. PLL IS A FICTION STORY about how bullying and hate can transform people, didn’t you guys learned nothing from this?

I’ve seen some confused about the nick name to Sana. Sana-sol is a Vitamin mixture we give young children in Norway, usually before they able to take Tran (fish oil) as Sana-sol taste likes oranges and children likes it, but the cod fish oil tends to….not taste so good. Doctors recommend 1 -2 spoons a day.

And yes, it’s very normal to take tran in Norway, it’s rich in omega 3, vitamins and more.

First Auror Potter I have ever painted was on his birthday, July 31st, in 2016, and it’s the first of this collection. I think that’s why I started to think of him as an +20 yo auror. Somehow, it’s like he’s growing with me in real time. My vision of Harry Potter has matured over the years. He’s no longer a young boy in my mind as I’m no longer a child or teenager. What motivates me is to think he’s got wiser and more serious and all shit he’s been through since he was a kid made him even more sarcastic then he was. “No need to call me sir, professor” would turn into something like “You need to call me sir”.

A messy little comic where Otabek calls it out.
