Mediterranean Mermaid Lovers 🌊 ❤ 🌊
عاش من شافك (”Meeting you revived me” - used to express longing and affection to loved ones after a long time of not seeing them)

*deep intake of breath*

This took me a month to complete. (┛`д´)┛ For some reason I decided I would base the design of each mermaid off of real Mediterranean species as much as possible…. even though I did bend that rule quite a few times. (`∇´)

Greek Mermaid

Body: Exocoetus volitans (Blue Flying Fish)
Headband: Black pearls

Moroccan Mermaid

Body: Sparisoma cretense (Mediterranean Parrotfish)
Hijab: Caulerpa taxifolia (a type of seaweed–which I made red instead of green)
Hair ornaments: Echinaster sepositus (Red Sea Star/Starfish) and white pearls
Bodice: Paramuricea clavata (Violescent Sea-Whip, a type of coral)
Bra: Paracentrotus lividus (Purple Sea Urchin (but dead))
Sleeve: Sabella spallanzanii (Mediterranean Fanworm)

i’m never going to shut up about this.

i saw a middle-eastern, muslim man on u.s. television depicted as a real human being. someone who faces struggle and tries to approach it with humor. someone who is kind and is capable of love. someone who has desires and seeks to give and receive affection. i saw a middle-eastern, muslim man on u.s. television who loves other men.

in fact i saw two muslim men depicted with such dimension and humanity. and i got to see them become intimate with one another. clothed to fully naked. from gentle touches to loving sex. all of it.

i don’t think some people understand how immensely important this was on so many fucking levels.

You guys I think I found the best kid to play Damian:

His name is Ayman Amin, he’s a Singer/Actor that made his start on the Arabic version of “The Voice: Kids” this year (so he’s still not that famous), he speak fluent english, he’s the same age as Damian, the same hight and most importantly he’s the same ETHNICITY as Damian, what more can you ask for?

I hope she kicks his ass.

And I hope she would still look as good as this as she does it.

11 stages of love in arabic.

1. الْهَوَى (hawa) = Attraction

The beginning of love. This love can arise suddenly, but is transient, not yet firm in the heart.

2. الْعَلاقَةُ (‘alaqah) = Attachment

Love that becomes attached to the heart, and loses the transitory property ofhawa.

3. الْكَلَفُ (kalaf) = Infatuation

Love that begins to intensify and have a physical affect on the lover.

4. الْعِشْقُ (‘ishq) = Desire

Love that engulfs the heart of the lover entirely, and takes it as its residence, such that love and the heart in which it resides become intimately familiar with one-another.
This love blinds the lover to any faults in the beloved.

5. الشّعَفُ / اللَّوْعَةُ / اللعَاج (sha’aflaw’ahli’aj) = Passion

Love that starts to burn, but at this stage, the love is still pleasurable in the heart.

6. الشّغَفُ (shaghaf) = Affliction

Destructive, all-consuming love. The heart begins to be devoured by the love.

7. اَلْجَوَى (jawaa)= Grief

Love that started with the outer covering of the heart. It takes over the entire heart, and results in an inner grief and sorrow.

8. التّيْمُ (taym) = Enslavement

Love to the point where the heart is enslaved to the beloved.

9. التَّبْل (tabl) = Malady

Love, which was once living pleasurably in the heart, having made it its home, now turns against the heart, and so overwhelms, confounds and bewilders it, that it is as though it were its enemy.

10. التَّدْلِيْه (tadleeh) = Disorder

Love when the heart is thus being destroyed from within, and begins to lose all sense of balance and reason, it goes into a state of chaos and disorder.

11. الْهُيُوْمُ (huyum) = Insanity

Love that comes to its conclusion.

I stumbled across this little note that I left for myself about 2 years ago in my sketchbook for a future reminder.
SubhanAllah, it could not have reached me at a better time than now, Alhamdulillah. ❤️

“What is destined will reach you, even if it be underneath two mountains. What is not destined, will not reach you, even if it be between your two lips.

What ever is meant for you will be coming your way, while you are led and directed toward it.

As for that which is not meant for you, you will be deflected from it as it is turned aside from you.

Go easy on yourself, for the outcome of all affairs is determined by Allah’s decree. If something is meant to go elsewhere, it will never come your way, but if it is yours by destiny, from you it cannot flee”
– Umar bin al Khattab (RA)
