it's impossible for me not to ship these two with all my heart

i’ve been getting a lot of messages lately (and unsurprisingly, considering how unrepentantly i’ve been reblogging stuff from them) from followers asking me for podcast recommendations - and i love getting those so thank you, guys! - and i thought i’d make a masterpost of what i’ve both a) finished and b) enjoyed since i’ve started bingeing them.  and, as an extra added bonus, what has canonical lgbt+ representation (since i know what you guys are into [waggles eyebrows]).

1. the bright sessions

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  this is definitely the first podcast that i’ve fallen in love with as hard as my original gateway podcast: welcome to night vale.  it’s so well-written, the characters well-drawn, the premise fascinating - atypicals, or people with some sort of special ability, in therapy - and it’s such a positive story and experience that i can’t help but feel better on days i listen to it.  it really believes in humanity and that’s such a wonderful thing in this day and age.  plus, the voice acting is killer.

2. eos 10

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  i don’t think it’s been officially confirmed that dr. dalias is, at the very least, bisexual (in fact, the official channels seem to be dancing around it, possibly so as not to spoil anything in the upcoming season), though it’s been hinted at plenty in story.  especially as i don’t know how else you can explain a supposedly “straight” male character getting called out on repeatedly thinking about a naked man during a group mind-link experience.  that aside, it is freaking hilarious.  the premise is doctors in space, one formerly drug-addicted doctor helping to stabilize a currently alcoholic one with amazing side characters including nurse jane johns and levi, a hypochondriac alien and deposed prince who seems to have a personal vendetta against wearing pants.  it’s well-acted, cleverly written and a freaking joy to listen too.  so funny and so smart, i can’t recommend it enough!

3. the penumbra podcast

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  so much queer representation it’s bananas.  this ask the creators got is actually pretty representative of their approach to the show, slyly funny and very gay.  our main character is a genderbending queer private investigator who’s lost his heart head over a sweet-smelling thief with a heart of gold and more aliases than jennifer garner, all set against a noir backdrop.  oh, and on mars.  yeah, you read all of that right.  there are a few awesome side stories as well, including a couple of horror ones (that have no effect on the main juno steel story line, so can be skipped - and the creators are VERY GOOD about warning what’s to come in the episode notes), as well as lesbian outlaws and a disabled knight.  there’s literally nothing not to love.  EXCEPT FOR HOW JUNO STEEL WON’T LET HIMSELF HAVE NICE THINGS.

4. the black tapes

hey, hi, if you’re into horror, suspense, creepery or demons, this is so very much for you.  the premise is that alex reagan, our host, begins a podcast to interview people with interesting professions.  she starts out with dr. richard strand, a paranormal investigator whose mission statement is to debunk all things paranormal.  he even has an institute that offers a one million dollar prize for proof of the paranormal, which he has never even come close to having to part with.  while alex is interviewing him, she comes across a handful of black vhs tapes: the only cases that strand hasn’t been able to definitively solve yet.  the technology to disprove these incidents simply hasn’t come far enough, in his opinion.  needless to say, she never moves on from dr. strand and the mystery of the black tapes.  each episode, alex investigates another of the black tapes and much later on realizes it’s possible that they’re all connected.  oh my god, i almost got chills just writing that, it’s so good, it’s so real, because dr. strand is such a good anchor to reality.  alex will occasionally lose her skeptic’s perspective; dr. strand does not.  and once alex starts experiencing intense insomnia, making you realize your narrator might not be so reliable?  things somehow manage to get even murkier.  i really, really adored this one.  it’s paranormal set in the most normal of normal worlds, only making it that much spookier.

5. wooden overcoats

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  okay, well, if you’ve ever watched black books?  this is kind of like black books, aka one of my all-time favorite shows.  rudyard funn is just as incapable and universally disliked as bernard black, which was all well and good when the village of piffling vale (which is very nearly a town, you know!) only had one funeral home to choose from.  unfortunately, that’s not the case anymore.  eric chapman has moved his funeral home right across the street and stolen all the business from rudyard, his embalmer (cum part-owner) and twin sister, antigone, and georgie, their assistant.  to add insult to injury, he’s charming and universally adored by everyone except those at funn funerals.  very british, very ridiculous, and very funny!  WE GET THE BODY IN THE COFFIN IN THE GROUND ON TIME.  (well, like that one time they did.  [coughs])

6. ars pardoxica

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  i listened to this one pretty slowly, for me.  it’s very much plot over character, at least in my opinion.  which is fair since there’s quite a lot of plot and set dressing to establish.  we’re following (dr.) sally grissom, a scientist from the twenty-first century who accidentally creates time travel and ends up stuck back in the 1940s.  think a bombs and eisenhower.  it was always interesting, and the paradoxes created by the time travel experiments they kept doing were fascinating (i love time travel stuff because of the paradoxes it creates) but i didn’t get really ravenous for it until season two, which is when i really felt it picked up speed.  you’ve got anthony stuck in a literal CAGE - a “blackroom” bubble set outside of time, sally trying to garden (oh god), a gang consisting of a veteran, a (former) widow and time doubles trying to bring down ODAR (the company sally used to work for, and that anthony still does) and esther sliding down the ladder of morally unsound one determined rung at a time and it makes for a REALLY grabbing audio drama, eh?

7. the strange case of starship iris

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  i’m already in love with violet liu, all right?  she’s a science officer on starship iris–well, what was starship iris.  when we first join violet, every single one of her crew mates has just died in an explosion on the pod they were traveling off ship with and the starship iris is in its last throes as well.  luckily(?) a passing ship comes along with a plan to get her to safety.  this has a real illuminae vibe to it (which is an amazing book btw) and all the characters are already so freaking likable.  it’s only on episode two and already shaping up to be a favorite!

8. the orbiting human circus (of the air)

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  if there’s a more heart-warming podcast out there, then i haven’t run across it yet.  first of all, julian koster’s voice is so vulnerable and soft that i would use myself and everyone i know and also puppies as a shield against everything terrible in the universe for him.  second, the rest of the cast - leticia especially - is just as freaking talented.  the premise is that julian is the janitor at a radio show that broadcasts from the top of the eiffel tower and has strange and impossible acts every night, from tale-telling crickets to singing saws to the orkestral, a bird that can play every orchestral instrument (except that it refuses to play the viola, because reasons).  it’s fun and cute and breaks your heart with happiness regularly and often!

9. alice isn’t dead

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  this is a horror podcast about a truck driver who is looking for her missing wife.  jasika nicole has to have one of my favorite voices around and having it be so heavily dependent on that makes me ridiculously happy.  throw in the story-telling of joseph fink, the depth and cohesiveness of his writing, and there is nothing not to love here.

10. within the wires

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  this is really sufficiently creepy considering it’s not often overtly creepy.  this is set up as a series of relaxation tapes, which progressively get more and more interested in helping the listener break out of the facility in which she’s being kept.  super chilling at times, because the voice is so calm and the action so dangerous.

11. welcome to night vale

canon lgbt+ is a ✓.  okay, well, what more can be said about this at this point?  if you’re not listening to it, you’re wrong.  why wouldn’t you want to visit a town that can’t be visited and where every conspiracy theory is real and a part of everyday life?  yeah, everyone knows about the vague yet menacing government agency, steve carlsberg, you’re not hitting on anything new there.  there’s a dog park that doesn’t allow dogs, angels that are never to be identified as angels, mountains that aren’t real, a glow cloud that–ALL HAIL and a love story so complete and perfect that it can and will utterly steal your breath at times.  go, listen, inhale.

anonymous asked:

Can you recommend me some SuperCorp fanfics?

god that got… a bit longer than originally planned

  • such unruly heads and hearts - Lena wonders if the universe does this to everyone. Just recklessly bowls them over with people and realisations that they can’t ever really recover from. The one with Lena (who’s suffocating under the weight of the Luthor name and everything that comes with it), Kara (who just wants to make friends and cheer loudly for Alex at Quidditch matches, even when the quaffle isn’t near her), and the years over which they gravitate together. Hogwarts AU.
  • I Always Want You - Supercorp Hogwarts AU! (yes another one, i have a weakness ok)
  • heroism is a full time job - With her brother after her life yet again, Lena Luthor requests the protection of Supergirl until they can figure out who he’s hired to kill her and how to bring them down.
  • 12" by 8" - Objectively, it’s a beautiful photograph. A high definition immortalisation of a kiss in the sky, two figures pressed impossibly close, hands tangled in hair and around waists as they hover sixty stories in the air, illuminated gently by the neon of the CatCo Worldwide Media sign. But all she really sees when she looks at it is proof of Lena Luthor cheating on Kara Danvers. The one where Cat discovers that Lena’s stepping out with Supergirl (and decides to deal with the problem herself).
  • Lord, Save Me from Your Followers - A tumblr prompt, spiraled out of control. Kara, perhaps out of a want for thoroughness in her story, perhaps out of a Millennial-born urge to creep on a the social media of a woman she finds intriguing, discovers that Lena Luthor has a pretty active following on Instagram one afternoon not long after their first meeting. She debates it, just for a moment, before following Lena.
  • Call It Aggressive Negotiations - Kara’s first assignment as a reporter is to interview Lena Luthor for Catco Magazine. She’s a professional reporter now, so why does she feel so nervous? A fluffy introduction to the Kara x Lena ship.
  • epiphany - Lena’s just trying to drink away the day when she gets a not-so unexpected visitor on her roof. Post 2x08. Fix-it fic. Kind of. warning for the angst
  • no one but you (got me feeling this way) - It’s not like Kara deliberately sets out to make her life harder than it should be. It’s not her fault that she’s excitable, okay, and she forgets things sometimes and maybe those things should not be forgotten under any circumstances. Maybe those things include, well, housing forms, which as it turns out are super important to submit on time if she wants to not be homeless on her sophomore year of college. Her sister’s going to give her so much crap about this. Alternatively: in which Kara forgot to fill out the housing form and was left with no choice but to live in the most exclusive apartment on campus.
  • One And The Same - Lena Luthor has two crushes: Supergirl and Kara Danvers. This is the story of how she discovers they are one and the same.
  • second star to the right - She wasn’t aware of its presence until it was too late. It started small, a creeping sensation crawling down her spine, a tingling in the back of her neck that had nothing to do with the frigid fall air, the stuttering of her heartbeat at random intervals. or Kara somehow gets roped into stargazing with her not-so-secret-giant-gay-crush. (it’s a wip but with the way the last chapter ends it could be finished!)
  • Busted - Kara Danvers is worried about coming out to her not girlfriend Lena Luthor about the Supergirl thing. She’s worried about how the Luthor will take it. But if she wants more, she’ll need to come clean eventually. She just hadn’t realized how soon it would happen. And how it would come about. Canon up to episode 2x05.
  • Flower Shops and Loopy Signatures - Kara Danvers just keeps coming back to Lena Luthor’s flower shop. Again and again and again. Supercorp Flower shop AU
  • Our Souls Are Connected - There are no accidental meetings between souls. SuperCorp Soulmate AUs. Series of oneshots based on different reimaginings of the concept of a soulmate.
  • Lonely Youth - “And so Kara Zorel is left feeling small and unwelcome in a large and unfamiliar place (but what else is new, really?)” or Boarding School AU where Clark actually tries to raise Kara, decides that he can’t, and ships a small and shy Kara off to school instead.
  • Trust? - Lena’s reluctant to believe Supergirl or reluctant to believe she would look past the Luthor name.
  • of potstickers and preferences - Because really, who serves potstickers at a gala? Shameless fluff. Fix-it fic (sort of) to make up for the lack of Kara/Lena interactions at the gala.
  • Special Deliveries From ‘L’ - Lena somehow finds out that the way to Kara’s heart is through her stomach; Kara agonizes over whether Lena might be trying to bribe her as part of the 'favor’ she owes her.
  • Bruises - “It makes sense in a way you never thought all of this would: she was not born here. She is not from here. Fire and steel will not break her skin, but they clearly mar yours.” or: every bruise, bite, and scratch you get appears on the skin of your soulmate; and while supergirl may not bruise, lena luthor does.
  • (Super)Man’s Best Friend - When Kara saves a puppy from drowning on a rainy night in National City, she can’t bear to give him to a shelter; they’ve bonded. Except her apartment doesn’t allow pets. And her sister is allergic. And none of her friends’ apartments allow pets…except for one. Lena Luthor’s (Kara gets Lena to adopt a puppy. Dog owner related shenanigans ensue.)
  • of art room supply cabinets and a lack of caffeine - The last thing Kara Danvers expects to find in one of the art room supply cabinets is a person. Vaguely suggestive figurines? Sure. Abandoned sculptures? Maybe. But definitely not a person. And especially not one with dark hair, green eyes, and a downright killer smile. OR: The university SuperCorp oneshot AU you were all hoping and praying for.
  • Of RedK & One-Night Stands - After Jimmy rejects her, RedK-infected Kara Danvers finds some fun in another person’s company instead.
How Yosuke Hanamura broke my heart

It’s incomplete, but I had to get this out of my system:

How Yosuke Hanamura broke my heart

Persona 4 is a funny game. It is also a long game, and that allows the social simulation aspect of it to really work, allows you to feel at home with the characters, through charm and repetition - grumpy Dojima, overly energetic Chie, confused heart of gold Kanji. Through little bits of interaction, day by in-game day, you at some point start to realise that when this is over, you might actually miss them. All of them.

And then there is Yosuke.

You play Persona 4 as Souji, a quite detached guy moving in from the city, hand on his hip, jacket slung over his shoulder, and while you, the player, grow fond of the game’s characters, Souji always feels like he doesn’t quite belong. He is the leader, the one who pulls the strings, the one grown up far beyond their age, with the world’s weight on their shoulders.

You juggle realtionships, help people out, they call you senpai, sensei - and then there is Yosuke.

Yosuke, who somehow, magically, manages to transcent Persona 4’s charming but game-y relationship system and becomes something else. Yosuke, who calls you Partner, and rings you up at night asking about your dreams or which girl you like. Yosuke, who does and says so many silly things that you never quite know what to expect - Yosuke, who ultimately breaks the boundaries of Persona 4 and makes Souji/Yosuke the most unexpectedly real-feeling relationship within a video game that I’ve ever encountered.

I don’t know what I thought when I first laid eyes on him, it’s likely that it was something along the lines of “Hey, this is quite cool-looking for an anime video game guy. Nice headphones.”

Then, in quick succession, things happened that made it clear that Yosuke was many things - heartbroken, repressed, funny, lazy, loyal, competitive, insecure, reckless - and that there was something building between him and Souji that seemed like a stunningly natural depiction of friendship. Somehow, this is rare - a video game showing two guys becoming friends, a process that just like falling in love requires making first moves, and opening up, and getting comfortable with each other. It seemed like Yosuke was the person in the cast that always wanted to know a little more, the one to push Souji a little bit, willing to ask stupid questions just to get a reaction, and unlike the other characters, he seemed to always act out of a desire to be level with Souji, to break through the calm, collected, leader-shell of his and address the human being inside.

Now, that alone would be a remarkable thing for a video game to depict, and worthy of high praise. What complicates things is that Yosuke, no matter how much he might deny it, seems like the most obvious case of a closeted gay person the world has ever seen.

When I started playing Persona 4, I had a pretty good idea of what I was getting myself into, through reading about it and actually having played a bit in the past. I also knew about the game’s realtionship system, and was aware, or thought I was, that you could only get romantically involved with girls. Thus, when the game started to tease the possibility of a gay option, I raised an eyebrow, then another one, and then I lost my marbles.

When it started, the closeness between Souji and Yosuke had already been established, and since I’m a sucker for guys not actually hating each other, I started to favour Yosuke a little bit - choosing him to eat lunch with on the roof, studying together, spending afternoons at the Junes food court, talking in the soft glow of the sun on the Samegawa river bank. When Yosuke asked which girl I liked, I chose “neither”, cheekily, thinking I was playing the metagame, when the next midnight channel story twist came up, I bet each time that Yosuke would be the one to call Souji, outraged, worried, flustered, and each time when the phone rang and it was indeed him, I smiled to myself. But surely it was all in my head - I was starting to ship it, but it was just a fun little thing to do, to spare a thought here and there and layer it on top of these two characters whose interactions I enjoyed way more than expected.

Then, these little moments started happening - the group sitting together at Junes’ and Yosuke remarking how good Partner is with his hands, a comment that might not even have stuck out so much if weren’t for the fact that immediately after saying it, Yosuke became a hot mess of backpedalling embarrassment. His insistence to know whether Souji had a crush on somebody, and who it was, despite the awkwardness. His remarks about inviting a third person to their activities, “or else people might think we’re gay.” And ultimately, the sheer time the game devoted to the Souji/Yosuke relationship - way more than any of the other characters got.

Persona 4’s social link system is fairly rigid. You choose to spend time with people, and if things go well, and even sometimes if they don’t, it raises your relationship level with said person, allowing you to climb the social link ranks, which has gameplay and combat benefits and also allows you, in some cases, to pursue a romance. What is remarkable about Yosuke is that the game spends a significant amount of time showing interactions between Yosuke and Souji outside of this system, building their relationship beyond the confines of you walking up to a person after school and answering “yes” to their proposal of hanging out. This not only serves to create a markedly more natural and complex relationship, it also sets Yosuke apart from the other characters - he is the one to choose to interact with Souji while the other characters can only wait to be chosen.

And then Kanji entered the picture, Yosuke freaked out completely and I looked on, amazed at the fact that this game would dare to introduce a gay character, who, despite being closeted, met up with dates after school and whose dungeon was, of all things, a gay bathhouse, with sexual content that wasn’t even the slightest bit concealed. Of all the characters, Yosuke reacted most strongly to this, outright refusing to enter and making a big fuss about being afraid of Kanji taking advantage of him.

It culminated in the camping trip - Kanji, Yosuke, Souji sharing a tent - a scenario that could have been used very easily for a gay romance movie of questionable quality, full of the usual tropes of late night talks, denial, confrontation and very real confusion on my part of where exactly this was going - the game laid on the armored gay homophobia on Yosuke so thick that it seemed almost impossible to read what was going on in any other way. Combined with the unusual qualities that had been established in the realtionship before Kanji joined the group, it started to feel like an entire plot was going on behind the scenes, inexplicit yet persistent and increasingly impossible to ignore.

A few in-game days after that camping trip, Yosuke broke another boundary the game had set up to this point - he visited Souji’s home. More importantly, his room, a place that up until then you, the player, had always been alone in. The conversation that followed, in that intimate space, can’t adequately be described as subtext anymore, it’s text, and very gay text at that. I was streaming the game at the time, and I bet if that session’s video was still up, you’d hear my breath hitch when Yosuke, no homo Yosuke, asked about Souji’s porn stash and teasingly, suggestively stated he’d find it while Souji was out of the room. That was only the top of the iceberg, the whole scene and its context hit me like a 10 ton truck - could it be real? Was there really, explicitly something going on? The fact that I, after learning through research that there was no gay option, felt the need to double check after that scene, to make sure there wasn’t one, should speak volumes.

That’s when I learned of the fact that Yosuke very likely was a gay option, that there were unused text and voice lines left over on the game’s disk that turned the inexplicit explicit, both in english and japanese, suggesting the developer changed their mind after the localization was done, i.e. very late in the game’s development. Only, they had ripped out very little, leaving in tons of sublte and not so subtle parts of the relationship, and that was when I realised that Persona 4, beyond being one of the best games I have ever played, would also have the potential to make me very sad, and very angry.

It wasn’t just that gay rights had been dear to my heart for as long as I could remember. It wasn’t just that the progression of Souji and Yosuke’s relationship eclipsed any other possible pairing in the lineup by miles in terms of complexity and depth and just feeling right. It was the loss of an incredible story being told, a story that would have been unique in the history of video games - the story of two fully realised, multi-faceted male characters that you, as a player, like, falling in love, and dealing with the fact that they both happen to be guys, with all the issues that might bring in a society where homophobia and hate are still so prevalent.

While this has been done in movies to great success in recent times, mainstream video games haven’t dared to show male homosexual relationships in positive light and up front and center. Persona 4 does dare to spend significant time on very progressive subjects, including homosexuality and transgender issues, but it falters and pulls back just on the brink of being truly groundbreaking, which, to anybody playing the game with an open mind, can only scream injustice both in a worldly and in an in-game sense.

The level 9 rank of Yosuke’s social link progression has the two of you standing on a hill overlooking the town of Inaba. Yosuke’d probably call it a village, and the two of you talk about coming to terms with your place in the world, literally and figuratively. It’s autumn, and the evening sun plays with the coloured leaves on the trees - it’s a beautiful spot, a wistful song is playing, and despite the Playstation 2’s aged graphics you can’t help but marvel a little. You’ve never been to this spot before, you think Yosuke probably brought you here, and you wonder if there are any other locations in the town you know so well by now that you haven’t seen.

“There is still nothing here,” Yosuke says, meaning Inaba, a place he resented for the longest time, “but I have family, and friends…and you.”

I sat in front of the TV for a long time, the soft piano notes of the song playing making me ache, and then I realised that while Yosuke Hanamura was denied the chance to become part of video games’ first positively framed gay male relationship, he had acomplished one thing:

Yosuke Hanamura broke my heart.

Adlock For Dummies

I was supposed to write some fanfiction, and as usual, I decided to scroll through the Adlock tag to get some feels rolling. But instead, I found myself disappointed at the fact that there has been another fiasco involving hate being present in the tags that caused a back-and-forth between Adlockers and, based on my observation, some Johnlock shippers (and yes, I’m using the entire ship name to have it appear on their tag because tit for tat).

So first off, bless you my fellow shippers, @i-am-adlocked, @redwulfgirl, @marvelfangirlandsherlockian4ever, @magicalpostface, to name a few for defending the ship to the core, and for @thank-you-for-being-with-me and @themissadventurer for explaining wth happened.

Now, this isn’t me putting gas to the already burning fire, but it is sickening to go over this again and again and again. To be fair, I have tried to be level headed back then about this whole conundrum, but seriously though, this has got to stop.

So I decided to approach this the Adlock way. I laid out the most common arguments against this ship and I’m going to give my most logical answers to it. Is this going low? Maybe. But hey, it’s a slow night for me so here’s to sharpening up my good ol’ brain cells.

Note: All quote references came from this brilliant post.

PART ONE: Disproving common arguments

1. “But Irene is gay…”

Yes, Irene had said this herself. From what I’ve seen in the fandom, people have a split opinion on the matter, taking Irene as either a lesbian or a bisexual, and coming from individuals who are part of the LGBTQ community, there should be a huge amount of respect for these opinions. But sadly, it has become a fiasco on its own. Now, as someone who is a genderfluid sapiosexual (putting this here because otherwise I would be called out for pushing heteronormativity or spreading homophobia and all those things), I personally think that Irene used the term gay loosely. She obviously prefers women, but is also evidently attracted to Sherlock.

So referencing what Lara Pulver stated back in 2012, “It’s just a label, isn’t it? Because, at the end of the day, I think she had feelings for Sherlock. So then people say, ‘Well, so she’s obviously not gay. She must be bisexual.’ But actually, let’s not label this. Let’s just know that human beings fall for other human beings.”

2. “Shipping Adlock is homophobic”

If we are going by expressed declarations of sexuality, it is important to not only take in Irene Adler’s preference into question. John Watson has been very vocal about not being gay, having been engaged into several relationships prior to his marriage with Mary Morstan, and yet has been subject to claims that he is, in fact, in love with Sherlock Holmes. So, logically speaking, rejecting one point over the other completely disproves the argument.

3. “There are undeniable proof that Sherlock and John are in love”

This is something I didn’t want to tap on, but felt like I needed to do so. From the ACD canon to the BBC version, there are arguments falling ill to the common notion that the relationship of the two borders on romance.

It has been a common fictional trope, where a character who is angsty and misunderstood is accepted by a trusty and kind comrade – or a brother not by blood but by bond if you will – and it is something intriguing because it is not so common in real life. This is because as much as it is embraced in fiction, males in real life are often pushed into the stigma of being macho men, for the smallest amount of affection showed towards someone else is regarded to as romantic attraction.

Love is very much present between Sherlock and John, but similar to characters like Frodo and Sam from LotR, Jem and Will from The Infernal Devices, Steve and Bucky from Captain America, and other ‘shippable bromances’, this is, in fact, nothing romantic, because newsflash, romance isn’t the only type of love there is. And the main reason why there are often claimed as so is because of this underlying patriarchal effect that two men can be friends, ‘but hey, no homo’, which frankly makes this all the more absurd. It’s like we hate this thinking but subconsciously, we have fallen deep into the expectations it represents.

4. Queerbaiting

In millions of interviews and conventions, the writers have explicitly said that Sherlock and John are not together, at least not in a romantic fashion, and this is first and foremost a story of their adventures as a detective and his chronicler. So blaming them and accusing them of queerbaiting is very much unfair.

All the ships have the liberty to ship what they ship, to hold on to every evidence and claim that they have as presented in the show, but to push through with an idea once a conclusion has been drawn seems unfair to the entire fandom altogether. It is fair to feel disappointed towards an episode you didn’t like, but a story and a writer that reels toward what the audience asks it to be is nothing more than laziness.

YOU. CAN. ALWAYS. STOP. WATCHING. Don’t go as far as ruin the experience for everyone. It’s like because you’re allergic to nuts, then you expect your entire school to ban it and close all the shops in town selling it.

PART TWO: “Adlock does not make sense”

I felt this needs to be a section on its own because as much as our ship only has a handful of references to play with, I can at least say that Adlock has sailed by itself even without our help.

1. “So you like policemen?”

Most people who do not ship Adlock claim that Sherlock ‘malfunctioned’ in this scene because he was jealous ‘of’ Irene. But if we look at it, John was the first one who flirted with Irene by trying to make a move using the soldier card in contrast to Irene’s supposed liking of policemen.

Now to quote Mark Gatiss, “He suddenly meets someone who fascinates him. Holmes and Adler have an intellectual attraction. He doesn’t understand it. It’s like falling in love, but he doesn’t know what it is.”

It was obvious that having this woman one up him distracted him for a fragment of a second that he wanted to get back this air of superiority. Still, she outsmarts him. Also note that the morning after, he has already looked her up on Twitter, showing that she did pique his interest.

2. “You barely knew her.”

Abruptly answering is a way to tell when someone is lying according to Sherlock himself. So why did he give a clipped ‘yes’ when John asked if he was okay upon deducing that Irene Adler was ‘dead’?

Plus, nicotine was supposed to be something to keep him at bay – to keep his mind sharp. We saw how much he needs it if he’s an emotional wreck to enable him to think. But when Mycroft gave him low tar because he deemed that Sherlock barely knew Irene, he scoffed. He gave a grunt that sounds humorously offended. If you didn’t catch this then please watch the scene again.

3. “Craving the distraction of the game, I sympathise entirely.”

Sherlock and Irene were each other’s distraction, like the king and the queen of the opposing sides of the chessboard. And this was clearly a declaration that Sherlock was aware of how attracted he was to her, probably more so on an intellectual level, and that he genuinely wanted to understand and even impress her, much like her attempts to do so with him.

Oh and a challenge from Mr. Cumberbatch himself from 2015:  “They had a night. Irene Adler and Sherlock had a night. I’m absolutely certain of that. Deal with me.”

5. “I’ll still have it.”

Why would he ask for Irene’s Vertu? What did “The Woman… THE Woman.” mean? Going back to ASiP, the most obvious reference is “If she’d left him, he would’ve kept it. People do, sentiment.”

It was his obvious admission that Irene did in fact beat her, because she made him show that he did care about whatever it is that they had.

And add to his collection of all sentimental things, plus in reference to a Chekov’s gun, the rose in the hospital window in HLV disappeared, meaning Sherlock took it with him when he escaped. They wouldn’t show that camera play without meaning tbh.

6. “Get out of my head, I’m busy.”

Seeing how Sherlock’s mind palace works, he projects people in his mind as he needs them to be – whether it be their opinions, the moral balance they lead him to, etc.

As his mind illustrates, Mycroft is often shown in a setting where he is regarded to as an important compass for intellect and logic, whereas John is often the one who offers practical and emotional approaches. Molly in HLV was presented such as a medical reference, and Anderson represents the firm believer that despite the perils and impossibilities, he can surpass death once more – quite a touching nod to TEH Anderson, tbh.

Anyway, going back to that scene in ASoT, it was clear that the mere thought of The Woman sent him a wave of distraction and nostalgia. His representation of her was with the look of affection and longing, something projected by his own subconscious.

7. The pocketwatch in TAB

As this is all happening in his subconscious, the mere idea that John ‘his moral and emotional compass’ Watson brings up the thought of Irene Adler in the pocketwatch is an internal dialogue of his logic going against the musings of his heart.

8.  “People text. Even I  text. Her, I mean. Woman. Bad idea. Try not to, but you know, sometimes…”

Sometimes, what? That is the question, don’t you think?

In addition to the whole bromance thing, John expressing his grief in front of Sherlock cancels out the whole macho man facade and simply offers what years of friendship between them developed: trust. In this, Sherlock must’ve felt like the whole ‘I don’t text her back’ statement was already overdue, and just as how John confessed that he’s not as good as anyone holds him up to be, Sherlock also felt like it’s time to not be embarrassed to reveal that he is also, at times, vulnerable against his own impulses.

9. Irene knows Sherlock’s birthday + “The Woman will cry”in HLV

As I see them as people who don’t really fall much into these formalities, and also averting to the common notion that Sherlock and Irene’s relationship circulates in nothing more than lust, I’d like to point out that the main tether that tied them together is their intellectual connection. BUT, bordering to personal information, especially as  they are not people who would succumb to conventional topics of conversations, knowing Sherlock’s birthday and having his subconscious relate Irene Adler as someone who will be deeply affected by his death mean that their relationship has been long past simply passing time with mind games and solving cases.

10. He still has all her texts, has her name in his phone as The Woman, and saved that bloody text alert EVEN AFTER CHANGING PHONES

If this doesn’t shout sentiment, then I don’t even know…

11. “Play you.”

Now one argument about this is that maybe Sherlock played this because ‘play you’ simply means ‘play something you composed.’ BUT, Eurus also did tell Sherlock to play something he understands

After the statement regarding sex, it is clear that Sherlock is not as fazed as he was back in ASiB on the matter, and going beyond the implied physicality, it also shows that after all those years, Sherlock finally has an understanding as to why he wrote that piece for Irene Adler. It’s another solidification that they have developed a deeper relationship than just two people enjoying the company of the other for the mind games they provide, but they can even go as far as claim that they deem the other person as important.

And so, any other statements about Sherlock and Irene’s relationship in front and behind the camera is found in the post I used as a reference, which you can read here: http://sorrowsflower.tumblr.com/post/156423437518/compilation-of-adlock-quotes

Hollywood U Reflections

Inside Choices is a weekly behind-the-scenes blog from the Pixelberry team. This week, we took the chance to reflect on our Hollywood U journey.

Not long ago, we released the final quest of Hollywood U (Pixelberry’s 2nd of 3 games), something I’d been a writer, story lead, and producer on. This big moment caused me to take a step back and remember the long journey we’ve made together.

We launched Hollywood U two-plus years ago in December of 2014. What’s crazy is that we did so in a matter of months. The energy in the office then was electric, with everyone scrambling around trying to hit their impossible deadlines.

We seem calm here, but the excitement on launch day was through-the-roof…

After our launch, we celebrated with an on-theme film festival. Several brave souls dug up embarrassing videos of themselves for everyone to watch.

The team has always been passionate about whatever it works on. And that passion comes through in cosplay… Recognize these characters?

…in dedication. Many of our writers wrote quests week in and week out. But we still managed to have fun together in our writing and in our brainstorms.

…and in collaboration. Here we are blitz-writing hundreds of dates for HWU’s Couple’s Corner. It was a very busy lunch.

The best part of Hollywood U was, well, all of you. Your creativity and enthusiasm – expressed through fanart, headcanons, ships, and messages – was what drove us to keep writing and doing our best. Eddie, who you might know from our livestreams, had this to say:

“To all the HWU players, thank you for all the love you’ve given us, thank you for the hours of livestreaming, and thank you for this adventure that was a big part of my life.” -Edward

Some of you have already played the Hollywood U finale and even reached out to us about how the game has influenced you. That means the world to us. The next game update for Hollywood U will be its last, and weekly quests will no longer be released… but the spirit of Hollywood U continues to burn bright.

And for those Choices players who have no idea what I’m talking about… I hope you’ll take a minute to check out Hollywood U and see this awesome game now that the story is complete. There’s literally hundreds of hours of romance, adventure, and Hollywood excitement that we’ve poured our hearts into bringing to life.

When I look around our office, I see the Choices team dedicating the same hard work, creativity, and love that they put into Hollywood U. As we shift focus to Choices, the team will grow and evolve, but our love for storytelling remains the same.

It’s been a long journey, but we’re glad we made it with you.

anonymous asked:

Top 5 ships in general

When you mean in general, I am going to presume ALL FANDOMS, not just League.

OKAY.

- Number 5.

Plague Knight and Mona (Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows)

(Fantastic artwork by @pickles4nickles)

I simply cannot stop loving these two. Unlike alot of ships I enjoy, these two are just pure, unadulterated adorableness and fluff. I don’t want to ruin the DLC for anyone who hasn’t played it, but the ending is possibly the sweetest thing i’ve seen from a video game. Cannot recommend it enough, its sad, sweet, a little sappy and a whole lotta cute.

- Number 4.

Dr. Eva Rosalene and Dr. Neil Watts (To the Moon)

(Wonderful artwork by @unoobang!)

To the Moon is by far my favourite game of all time. The experience was roughly the same as getting a piece of paper, making it into a paper rabbit, ripping it in half, taping it back together carefully and with extreme amounts of love, then watching it be thrown into a wood chipper, only for your best friend to present it to you all Mike Wazowski style like in Monsters Inc. Watts is a silly, laid-back goof with a big heart, meanwhile, Rosalene is a cold, calculating woman with a big brain. The balance between the two, combined with their inner, hidden desires and sins are so…. Human. Everything about them is human, and that’s why I love them so much.

- Number 3

Sky Hart and Takumi Nakamura (League of Legends)

(Lovely artwork by @ionian-storm-chaser)

Perhaps I am bias… Since as you can tell, I am the creator of Takumi. But in all honesty, I did not expect this simple relationship to snowball into so much emotion and development. Takumi, a disowned, wandering gunman with a vendetta, and Sky, a mercenary with an enchanted sword and a strong moral conviction seem like a generic story couple. But, its not only how fleshed out the two are, but how human they seem to me. Sky, who is portrayed by my good friend, Penny, is a strong-willed, compassionate soul who was dealt the hard hand in life, but came out better for it. Takumi is the opposite, someone who’s had his back shoved into a corner and had to fight like a rabid animal to escape. Right now their threads are few, and most their interactions are short, but how much they carry means more to me in the end.

- Number 2

Genji Shimada and Dr. Angela “Mercy” Ziegler (Overwatch)

(Superb artwork by @girlcarnivore!)

HA.

Honestly, I fell in love with Gency the second I saw it. Genji, a character which I find very interesting due to his internal war with himself, holds similarities with the good doctor that most can only see past the surface. Both had lost family in the past, Mercy losing her parents and Genji losing his brother, both through the burdens of wars, one being a physical one and the other a moral one. I feel that Mercy and Genji are two of the most personality rich characters in the game, period. Mercy, a doctor, who’s purpose is to heal and protect, has her creations turned to weapons, her research used to hurt, everything she’s stood for crumbling around her while she can only watch. Genji, a warrior who is torn between who he is and what he is, a machine, or a man, this internal struggle between himself, his brother, and his place in the universe. The tragedy that both had to face must have been unbearable, but in the grand scheme of things, all wounds heal, and all scars fade.

Honourable mentions!

- Steven Quartz Universe and Connie Maheswaran (Steven Universe)

- Jordan “Thermite” Trace and Yumiko “Hibana” Imagawa (Rainbow Six: Siege)

- Mugen and Fuu (Samurai Champloo)

- Marco Pagot and Madame Gina (Porco Rosso)

- Darwin Raglan Caspian Ahab Poseidon Nicodemius Watterson III and Carrie Krueger (The Amazing World of Gumball)

- Valkyrie Cain and Fletcher Renn (Skullduggery Pleasant series)

And now….

- Number 1

Yasuo “The Unforgiven” and Riven “The Exile” (League of Legends)

(Amazing artwork by @talgyu)

INHALES.

Okay, let’s do this.

Yasuo and Riven are perhaps my two favourite characters in any fictional setting, franchise or series. Yasuo, a disgraced warrior bent on honour and retribution, travelling the fine line between justice and vengeance with the woman who most likely killed his elder and forced him on this road, leading to the death of his friends and even his own brother? Impossible! That can’t happen!

Well, can’t it?

The main appeal for me, is how these two are identical on the opposite sides. Both were cast away from their nations, one fighting a war against it to save it, one fighting to save himself. They both believe in honour, in the hopes of justice and redemption. Both have endured so much pain, losing all the family they had, losing everything to the bloody sin we call war.

Riven, who’s most notable feature is her shattered sword, is a symbol of the ties being cut from her past. Yasuo, who’s blade is still whole, represents a very different story. The man who thinks he is whole is broken, and the woman who thinks she is broken is whole. The similarities, how they’ve hurt eachother so much without even knowing, is something which I want to see develop. Alot of people presume Yasuo will simply try to kill her outright. Why would he do that? That is against his whole character. The Unforgiven ended up here because of his foolish actions, by thinking too fast, by rushing in like a chaotic gust of wind. That man learned and was punished because of that. His symbolic ideals of balance, of life and death and creation and destruction that are so prevalent in his character would carry to his meeting with Riven.

Does he suspect her? Without a doubt. But will he rush to conclusions? No, only a wild and young wind will do that. Even in-game, everything he says to her is never a death threat, but always questions, questions he wants answers to. Their meetings are the beginning of the story, not the end.

If you wish for a wonderful piece of writing that almost perfectly explains their relationship, find “Follow The Wind” on Fanfiction.com by @tahimikamaxtli, I assure you will not be dissapointed.

Okay, now i’m gonna lie down.

Epic Movie (Re)Watch #108 - The Road to El Dorado

(GIF originally posted by @dreamworksmoments)

Have I seen it before: Yes

Did I like it then: Yes.

Do I remember it: Yes.

Did I see it in theaters: No.

Format: DVD

1) Not only is this one of my favorite animated movies, it is one of my favorite movies period. I found it while scrolling through Cartoon Network or HBO Family or something and watched it every chance I could get. 12 year old me found it very edgy. The mild swearing, the cigars, the blasphemy, all of it was very enticing and that’s fed my love of the film since.

2) Elton John & Tim Rice, the songwriting duo behind The Lion King, re-teamed for this film and churned out a nice set of songs. But the strange thing is if you listen to the soundtrack most of the songs are recorded differently than how they appear in the film. The one exception I think is “Someday Out of the Blue” which plays during the end credits. Still, they songs add the fun and energetic flavor to the film. The opening song in particular, “El Dorado,” does a nice job of setting up the mythology we need to get the movie started in a very short amount of time.

3) If you’re a fan of voice over work, you’ll recognize Jim Cummings as Cortez.

Cummings is one of the most prolific and talented voice over artists out there. It would be impossible to list everything he’s done, but his most notable work has been as Darkwing Duck, Winnie the Pooh & Tigger too, Hondo on "Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, Razoul in Aladdin, and Ray the firefly in The Princess and the Frog. It’s fun knowing what he sounds like because not only do you hear him in Cortez, but you also pick up the random nameless characters he plays too with his different voices.

4) The heart of the film, the thing that makes it great: Miguel & Tulio.

The bromance between Miguel & Tulio is what makes this film work as well as it does, it’s what makes it fun! Kenneth Branagh and Kevin Kline voice the pair respectively, and their chemistry is off the charts. It doesn’t hurt that the pair actually got to record their performances with each other, a rarity in animation (although Pixar has done it with Monsters Inc for John Goodman and Billy Crystal).

Their relationship and roles are clear from the start, they balance each other out. Tulio is mildly selfish with a great hunger for gold and an ability to think things through. Miguel’s heart is bigger than their brain, being the dreamer/softie of the group (wanting the map to El Dorado, saving Altivo the horse when he almost drowns, etc.). And they play off each other beautifully.

5) 12 year old me was very fascinated with the slight profanities this film had.

Tulio [when he’s about to roll his dice]: “Come on baby, papa needs that crappy map.”

I thought crap was a real swear when I was twelve. I didn’t lose my innocence until thirteen.

6) Chekov’s Fake Fight.

(GIF originally posted by @somehow-you-will)

The fight comes into play later in the film too, but is a showcase mainly for the wonderful banter between Miguel & Tulio and - therefore - the excellent writing of screenwriters of Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio. These guys were my favorite screenwriters when I was twelve, and can you blame me? Their resume consisted of: Aladdin, The Mask of Zorro, Shrek, The Road to El Dorado, every Pirates of the Caribbean film, Treasure Planet, and both National Treasure films. They have a strong penchant for strong dialogue too. Consider the exchange above, and also this:

Miguel: “You fight like my sister.”

Tulio: “I’ve FOUGHT your sister! That’s a compliment!”

I love that.

7) According to IMDb:

The film shares several attributes of its namesake, the "Road” comedies made famous by Bob Hope and Bing Crosby during the 1940s (which helps explain anachronisms such as shared language, pop culture references and lack of historical accuracy).

I just thought that was a fun share.

8) God, I love the banter between these two.

[Tulio & Miguel jump into barrels of water in a chase scene but can’t escape because the barrels are being loaded onto a ship]

Tulio: “What’s happening here?”

Miguel: “We’re both in barrels. That’s the extent of my knowledge.”

9) Even the bad guys have great dialogue!

Cortes (upon discovering Miguel & Tulio on his ship): “My crew was as carefully chosen as the disciples of Christ.”

10) I’m just going to let you know now, so many of my notes here are just quotes from the film I love.

Miguel [giddily, after Cortes tell the pair they will be enslaved in Cuba for being stow aways]: “Alright! Cuba!”

11) For example, another quote:

Miguel: Yes, that’s it Altivo. Find the pry bar!

Tulio: Yes, “find the pry bar”. He doesn’t understand “pry bar”! He’s a dumb horse, there’s no way he could understand…

[Altivo drops keys into the brig]

Tulio: Well… it’s NOT a pry bar.

12) The Trail We Blaze

Animated films are usually short so as to be not too time consuming. It can take years to make 80 minutes of animation. This film has a nice device of compacting what could be very long scenes into neat little montages with the use of a song. We still get Tulio & Miguel’s fun journey through the jungles to find El Dorado, but it’s done in three and a half minutes to a fun Elton John tune. It keep the energy, the adventure, but doesn’t waste the time of the animators or the audience.

13) Immediately Tulio and Chel have great chemistry as they play “pass the golden idol” together!

14) El Dorado.

(GIF originally posted by @dreamworksmoments)

Immediately upon entering the city the audience is filled with a sense of wonder, achieved through gorgeous animation and also Hans Zimmer’s subtle music which adds for extra bone tingling. You marvel at it with Tulio and Miguel, and you understand how it is such a mythical place.

15) Edward James Olmos does some great voice over work as Chief Tannabok.

I’ve never seen “Battlestar Galactica” so I am mostly familiar with Olmos from his work in Blade Runner, Stand & Deliver, and even “Agents of SHIELD”. I think he shows off a nice amount of range with this addition to his resume. Chief Tannabok is not an angry man. He is kind, soft, gentle, patient, but also you can tell that he’s kinda sad. You don’t HEAR Olmos, you hear the chief and that makes him an excellent addition to the cast.

16) And of course our big bad, Tzekel-Kan

Tzekel-Kan is the opposite of Chief Tannabok. He is angry, an overlord of sorts. He wants blood because he believes it is what’s needed. He believes people are wicked and evil just for enjoying life and being kind, and it is his righteous duty to smite them. He pisses me off way more now than he did when I was twelve.

17) This whole bit with the volcano! Miguel goes too far and says that the gods should not be questioned or else they will be forced to release their awful wrath…but Tzekel-Kan wants to see that. Only they’re not gods! So he and Tulio turn away to try and figure it out and we get this…

There’s an old addage in writing: “A coincidence to get a character out of trouble is lazy.” However in this case I’m 100% okay with that because it’s just funny as hell.

18) How many of us have used this GIF?

19) Chel.

Chel is a nice way of making the duo a trio. Voiced wonderfully by Rosie Perez, she is just as crafty and cunning as Tulio (if not more so) but also understand Miguel’s sense of adventure. The pair balance each other out already, bit if Miguel acts too dreamer-y or Tulio is too gold hungry they throw each other out of whack (as this film shows). Chel helps stabilize them by film’s end and is a lot of fun to watch. Also, bonus points for being an animated female character with a body that is physically possible.

20)

Chel [on why she wants a life of adventure]: “You’ve got your reasons…and I’ve got mine. Let’s not make this personal, okay?”

WHAT ARE HER REASONS!?!? WE NEVER LEARN!!! I MUST KNOW!!!

21) So Chel needs to prove to Tulio and Miguel she’s a good con artist…

[Chel shows the pair the dice she stole from Tulio]

Tulio: “How did you get those?”

Miguel: “Where was she keeping them?”

I’m with Miguel, that’s the more important question.

22) Oh Miguel…

23) It’s Tough to be a God.

The only time this film is a traditional musical (ie: the characters themselves break into song & dance), and considering Kevin Kline’s and Kenneth Branagh’s singing here that might not be the worst thing. The interesting thing is that their version doesn’t even appear on the soundtrack. Instead we get a duet with Elton John and Randy Newman.

24) I need to remember this excuse.

Tulio [trying to convince Tzekel-Kan not to make a human sacrifice to the gods/them]: “The stars are not in position for this tribute.”

Miguel: “Like he said…”

(GIF source unknown [if this is your GIF please let me know].)

25) I don’t identify totally with Miguel or totally with Tulio, but with parts of them. Like I identify with Tulio being kind of the dreamer who thinks things are possible, but this is a very me thing to say:

Tulio [after Miguel tells him he worries too much]: “No, I worry just the right amount! You can never worry too much!”

Same, Tulio. Same.

26) Remember how I said this movie was edgy to 12 year old me. Well it features a scene where Chel tries to seduce Tulio. Like, more than wanting a kiss. But like she shows off her shoulders for a back massage, they’re later found on the ground together all disheveled, it’s not even very subtle when you know what’s going on. Twelve year old me was very innocent.

27) I love their banter.

Miguel [when he and Tulio end up in a big arena to play ball for the locals]: “Well don’t blame me!”

(GIF source unknown [if this is your GIF please let me know].)

28) The ball game is a lot of fun to watch, if for no other reason then Chel on the sidelines.

Chel: “Foul! That was a foul!”

And then it’s her idea to use the armadillo as a ball replacement to cheat.

29) So earlier in the film we got this line from Miguel:

(GIF source unknown [if this is your GIF please let me know].)

And then later in the film Miguel tries to convince Chief Tannabok that the boat they are using to leave isn’t good enough (because Miguel wants to stay) when in fact it’s perfect. When Miguel admits his mistake, we got this line from the chief.

Chief: “Hey, to err is human.”

Miguel goes to get in the boat, but then he looks over his shoulder at the chief and the chief looks at him knowingly. And they don’t say anything else about it.

I love that. I love that the chief isn’t an idiot, but he knows. He knows and he knows it’s good for his people and he knows Miguel is a good guy and…I just love it!

30) I love little things like this.

[A giant stone jaguar, controlled by Tzekel-Kan, attacks the city. It grabs a warrior, ruffs him up A LOT, then lets him fall to the ground.]

Warrior [patting himself down]: “I’m okay!!!”

[Jaguar steps on warrior]

Warrior [from under Jaguar’s foot]: “I’m still okay!”

31) Remember how I talked about Chekov’s Fake Fight?

Tzekel-Kan [when he was Miguel & Tulio cornered]: “I know what you are and I know what you are not. And you are not GODS!”

Tulio [after a beat]: “Y-you’re not a god!?”

The pair then continue to have a very real argument where they say some pretty cold things to each other…

Tulio: “You’re buying your own con!”

Miguel: “At least I’m not DATING mine!”

But it has the same effect. Tzekel-Kan is distracted, enjoying their fighting, and the audience is as surprised as he is when the pair work in sync again and punch the guy out. It’s a nice way of playing the scene out.

32) Friends Never Say Goodbye. A very sad song that plays when it seems like Tulio and Miguel are going to take separate paths in life and are really mad at each other. It actually has some nice truths to it, and again is slightly different on the soundtrack. Elton John is backed up by the Backstreet Boys for the song on the album. I hope that didn’t ruin it for some of you.

33) The film ends with the citizens of El Dorado crashing a pillar into their gate so as to keep Cortes from finding the city, only it is falling too soon. So Chief Tannabok grabs some of the ropes and holds it back for a while. And this is probably REALLY mean of me and I apologize in advance but I just thought of this:

I’m so sorry.

34) According to IMDb:

A series of sequels featuring Miguel, Tulio, Chel, Altivo and even the armadillo going after other legends about gold was planned, similar to the Shrek (2001) series, but following the disappointing box-office results they were immediately canceled.

While that would’ve been interesting I’m kinda glad this film just stands on its own. It’s a nice little gem that way.

I love this film, and think a lot of people out there will too. People don’t really talk about it these days except to talk about how no one talks about it. It’s a nice variation from standard Disney fare, the music is great, freaking Miguel & Tulio are just awesome, and it is just such an enjoyable/adventure filled film. I think you should all watch it now! It’s on Netflix if you have it. So go. Go follow that trail! (Too easy?)

Human Connection

Cat meandered through the twisted wreckage of desks and chairs. She took her time, stepping over fallen light fixtures and scattered pieces of decor. There were holes in the drywall and several of the mounted television screens lay smashed on the floor. The Daxamites had done a number on CatCo.

Still, she couldn’t help the small quirk of her lips as she surveyed the place, her place. Noticing one of the large CatCo magazine cover prints on the floor near her feet, Cat bent down to pick it up. She remembered this one. It was August, two thousand ten. It had been one of their best selling issues, thanks to an exclusive interview with Michelle Obama. She remembered all of the covers.

Walking to the wall, Cat reached up to hang the frame back in its place. She tilted her head and, with the tip of her finger, scooted the frame into a perfectly straight position. With a satisfied, “Hmm,” and a tiny pop of her shoulders, Cat made her way to her office.

About the Realm of the Elderlings and fanfic, and also the greatest love story ever told

There are some stories that are not made for fanfiction. Some stories, some story worlds, are private playgrounds - you can visit, but you can’t build anything there, and all you can take home is memories.

Robin Hobb’s Realm of the Elderlings is one of those story worlds. Let me be clear - I’m not saying this because she doesn’t like fanfiction. The opinion of an author about fanfiction is largely irrelevant. If there is space in the told story for other stories, those stories will be written, one way or another. Fanfic can’t be stopped and it can’t be contained, and if your story allows it (not you, but your story) then it will happen.

The only way to stop that is to leave no room for it. If your story is complete, in a way that very few stories ever are, then fanfic won’t happen. Or, it will happen, but there won’t be much of it and it won’t satisfy.

That’s what Hobb did with RotE. There’s just no room for fanfic. Oh, maybe there was once, between the third and fourth trilogies, when Beloved had gone away and Fitz was with Molly. I can see how some people might want to write a reunion scene or something similar, but there wasn’t much of it.

Fanfic lives in the liminal spaces, in the gaps between what we are told has happened and what might have happened, what could have happened. It lives on things we don’t know, about the characters, about the world. We need those mysteries to feed into the fic - what is the Giant Rat of Sumatra? How would the books have gone if Harry Potter had been a girl? There are mysteries in RotE, but they bind the story rather than freeing it. Don’t get it? Let me explain. I’m going to use the most obvious example, and please do remember that this is not a criticism, nor is it a complaint. The fact that I believe that is is not possible to write good fanfiction in this ‘verse is the highest compliment I am capable of.

Obviously a lot of fanfic is ship-orientated. Not all of it by any means, but you know, a significant percentage of fanfic is written so that two characters get together, one way or another. RotE has the ultimate ship. It spans seventy years and all of Fitz’s life. They literally bring each other back to life. They have a child together (sort of. It’s complicated). They…well, that’s a spoiler. And yet there is never what you might call a romantic resolution. Beloved admits his love to Fitz (freely, throughout the series, but notably when asked about the face they chose for Paragon), but Fitz only confesses his feelings for the Fool in a roundabout way, and not even to Beloved themself.

How is it that we have twelve novels (and not thin novels either - Assassin’s Fate took me almost fourteen hours of nonstop reading to finish, and the first time I read the books when there were only nine, I didn’t sleep for an entire weekend) of this bone-deep love, this absolute devotion and adoration and pining…and we haven’t flooded the world with it? Where are the AUs? Where are the coffeeshop AUs and the high school AUs and all the others? I can’t believe that Hobb’s (with all love said, stupid and reactionary) opinion on fanfic could have stopped that from happening.

I think I know what could stop that, though, and that’s Beloved. If there was ever a cypher in the world of fiction, that would be the Fool. We know so little about them - they’re a White, they’re a Prophet, they had three parents and a sister who loved them. We know about Clerres, and we know that they love Fitz far, far more than Fitz deserves. What we don’t know about them could fill volumes, however, and there’s one thing we never find out which makes writing shippy fanfic about Beloved and Fitz…tricky.

Yes, I’m talking about the gender thing. I’m not sure whether Beloved is genderqueer or genderfluid or what. The point is, though, that we know that the Fool is just as real as Amber is just as real as Golden is just as real as Beloved. We know that they have many identities, some of which are female, and all of them real, for a given value of real. We’re never told what the Fool’s plumbing is actually like, which is fair enough. It’s really none of our business, after all.

But it does make writing harder. Because we tend to think in terms of the gender binary, so in a lot of the fic I’ve read, Beloved is sort of…assigned a gender. Generally, it appears, male. But what about Amber, then? What if the Whites don’t actually have sex and gender the way we understand it (although from what we learn in the Fitz and the Fool trilogy it seems they do)?

We can’t write effective shippy fanfic in this world because we don’t know what actually goes on under Beloved’s clothes - and that’s sort of essential. And there just isn’t room for any other kind, not really. Taking the relationship between Fitz and Beloved to another level (I don’t want to call it the next level, because as far as I’m concerned there isn’t a level beyond what they share) is the only space in the world for more story. We could write more about the dragons, we could go back and write about Elderling society - but with that we run into the same trouble as we do with Fitz/Beloved - we just don’t know enough. And besides, the heart of the story is in its characters, so why would we even bother writing in a time where they don’t exist?

Is that actually bad, though? Wouldn’t assigning Beloved a biological sex in the canon actually make them…less-than? Less than what they are, which is amazing? We can grump that Beloved’s identity makes writing love stories about them more difficult, but what of it? Isn’t it amazing that Hobb has managed to create this character, this beautiful, gloriously complicated character, so complicated that it’s actually impossible to get deep enough into their head to write fanfiction about them?

If pressed, I could write fanfiction about almost any character you care to name. I might have trouble with other things (I can’t imitate Wodehouse’s style well enough to write Bertie POV Jeeves, but I can fake Jeeves’ voice well enough, and I’m desperately intimidated by Watson’s voice) but I can get into the character’s heads, and I can play around there. But with this? I can’t get deep enough into Beloved’s head to write them, they’re just too complicated. And that’s fucking amazing, because you don’t often see characters with such depth and mystery - most mystery is contrived, but with Beloved it feels natural. It’s just who they are.

I think the point I’m trying to make is that what Hobb has achieved is a rare and beautiful thing - a story world that doesn’t need fanfiction. The plot is complete - there are no holes that need filling, and very few alternate paths to follow (very few that would be in character, anyway). There are no moments where the reader goes, not ‘I wouldn’t do that’ (there are many of those) but ‘Fitz wouldn’t do that’. The characters are either so well known that writing about them is redundant, or so cloaked in mystery that writing about them is almost impossible. RotE is like a crystal ball. It’s complete in itself. It doesn’t need anything more, and if you trying to add anything…well, the phrase ‘gilding the lily’ comes to mind. And that, my friends, is fucking amazing. Hobb has done what she wanted - she’s made it almost impossible to write fanfiction in her world. And isn’t the way she did it clever? She made the story so perfect that writing fanfiction in it seems almost like a desecration.

That’s not to say that nobody can write fanfiction in this world. I can’t stop anyone, and I wouldn’t if I could. I just can’t imagine reading it (I don’t need to. I tried, and was unmoved).

Since we’re already here, let’s talk about love. Specifically, let’s talk about the love story that is Fitz and his Beloved. When I was reading Assassin’s Fate, I kept hoping for…something. Some…moment of affirmation, that said that yes, they love each other. Yes, they’re soulmates. I thought it would be something like a kiss, something romantic.

I didn’t get a kiss, or a declaration. I think, though, that I got something better. Because their love is so…there’s so much of it, and it runs so deep. It’s written into their bones. It’s complicated and beautiful and so real. It’s so obvious that it doesn’t need that moment of declaration, that moment that says ‘yes, you are the love of my life’ because that’s basically what their story has been, one moment of ‘I love you’ after another. In fact, the only thing that was ever needed was that moment of ‘Yes, you love me.’ It doesn’t need a kiss, or sex, or anything other than the knowledge that they love each other, equally and eternally. It’s the kind of love poetry is written about, the kind of love every human being desperately desires, the kind that is so rare and precious that most of us can’t even understand it. We keep confusing it with want, with sex, with things that are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, but while those things can be part of it, it doesn’t need to be.

Twelve novels is a long time to spend on a love story, but that’s fitting, because there’s never been a love story like this. The closest, I think, may have been BBC Sherlock, but that show was betrayed, and the love story had no culmination. Not so here. By the end of the series, you may doubt anything you like, but you will never doubt that Fitz and the Fool love each other as much as two people can love.

It’s a love story that spans seventy years and the fate of a world. Twelve books (not counting the ones that don’t deal directly with Fitz and the Fool)and almost three million words.

All I can say is that I’m fucking honored to have read it, and eternally grateful that @sarahreesbrennan flailed about it on her blog almost ten years ago, because the thought that I might have missed reading it is horrifying.

Hey! How are you? So... I have this thing. Lena and Kara are together but they don't make a show of it, don't deny it, just don't confirme either. Kara shares with her some Krypton theory and they discuss it and Lena learned how to apply some of them. One day, some alien threatened earth and the DEO couldn't figure a better way to fight it without some sort of sacrifice, Kara is about to give herself, and while everybody's on the central room at DEO, Lena was figuring something out in... (1)

… in her lab. When she’s out, a lot of things happened, then Supergirl was about to give herself as sicrifice, when Lena tries to get in touch. When nobody answers her, she simply hacks on DEO system and get herself on the coms with Supergirl and everybody hears she giving Kara the solution and her own threat: “i told you I was going to figure it out, if you’re no in bed with me when I wake up tomorrow, Kara Zor-El, I’ll find you in Rao’s light, just to bring you back and kill you… (2)

… with my bare hands. And if you never heard a Luthor’s threat, there’s your first one. I love you.” Everybody’s livid, Alex wants to take her in, J'onn want’s a chat with Lena and Winn is paralyzed… (3) Yeah… see, my thing… I don’t have vocabulary enough to make it, but could you be kind enough?!?

hope this suffices!!

“Kara, you don’t have to do this.”

Alex tries to keep her voice from cracking, but it’s almost impossible. Because Kara is out there, and she’s about to die (to save them all sure, but the thought does little to calm the dread swelling in her chest.

“But I do, Alex. I can’t let the people I love die. If that means sacrificing myself… “

“Kara, please.” Her voice does crack then, she practically chokes on the words. Normally she would be embarrassed about so many of her agents seeing her like this, but right now she doesn’t care.

“Alex, I love you. Please know that I love you. And please, tell Lena … “

Lena? What does Kara’s best friend have to do with any of this?

Was she behind this attack?

She swears to god that if she finds out Luthor is behind this, she will personally go down to L-Corp and -

Her ranting is cut off when Kara continues.

“Just tell Lena I love her.”

In Her Eyes You’re Everything

Lena watches Kara almost constantly. Kara doesn’t notice, she’s pretty sure, far too encompassed in whatever she’s doing (she doesn’t do anything halfway, putting her whole heart into everything around her). Also because the moment she turns to look at Lena, Lena glances away, hiding her face and her blush. But when Kara isn’t looking, Lena watches her and falls in love.

Lena knows all her mannerisms, the way she adjusts her glances with her thumb and forefinger most of the time, but if she’s been eating donuts she uses her palm to avoided getting powered sugar on them (it ends up in her hair instead, a light dusting like snow and Lena can’t bring herself to tell her). Her smiles often start out slow, just the slight upturn at the corners of her lips, as if she’s not sure she’s allowed to smile. But when she decides she is allowed (Lena would be crazy to forbid it) they’re so wide and bright that Lena’s heart races. She purses her lips when she’s thinking and scrunches up her nose, but her eyebrows only draw together into a crinkle if she’s actually upset.

Next Chapter:(Chapter 2)

Pairings: NozoEli, NicoMaki, and KanaMari

Summary: This is a story a girl who became a monster called “Godzilla”. Her life went from being a normal young adult to the rampaging kaiju king. Her life has been plagued with a curse of being a destructive force of nature but will her destructive nature lead to something more than just a curse?

Word Count: 10+K words

Note: This AU idea popped a while ago but couldn’t get into it until I remember a certain AU story that I read long time ago. So while this story might be dramatic and sad in nature, there will be some minor fluff and such as well. This AU is based of the Godzilla Heisei Era series(1984-1995).

Special Note: First chapter is build and based off the events of The Return of Godzilla(1984). With a more modern day feeling.

Disclaimer: I do NOT own Love Live or any of the materials used in this fanfic: only my imagination. Feel free to correct me and I will take responsibility of my actions.

Author’s Note: Welcome all to this new AU story adventure. This idea has been in my mind for quite some time and I wanted to start this out as soon as I can while working on the current story at hand. This will be quite a ride for familiar and new readers. Thank you for your support and please leave feedback for me so I can continue to improve and update this story.

It Started With Scrap Metal

Leonard is a simple man that just wants to give his daughter an amazing gift for her birthday – that as a bonus will also anger the ex-wife – and pretend he isn’t in love with his two best friends – who also happen to be in a perfect relationship.

That’s not too much to ask for, now is it?

Prompt for my 250 celebration: McSpirk AU: “I sculpt for a living and you commissioned me to make a 30 feet tall statue of Cthulu for your three story aquarium. Your board members are pissed and called me at home, begging me to deny the job, but I simply can’t pass this up.”

This is for the amazing and ever-patient @soldtosatanforonecornchip. She’s been waiting for this prompt since I first saw it when I was in the ironwinter pit and never finished it. Now it’s here in all it’s McSpirk glory and I’m so sorry honey, it’s nothing like the original prompt…

Notes: nothing, just 6.000 words of cuteness, fluff and drama. Do be kind, it’s my first time writing Spock!

IT STARTED WITH SCRAP METAL (and ended as a love story)

They’re having Tuesday-evening drinks on the patio of Leonard’s house on the McCoy homestead – because really, being a doctor it’s kind of impossible to adhere to office-job standards and have thank-god-it’s-Friday drinks when the weekend is just another working day – when Leonard points his beer bottle at Jim. “I want to commission you.”

Jim raises an eyebrow from his very un-charming slumped position in the dark wooden patio chair. “For?”

“Jo’s birthday is coming up and I know the perfect thing.” Leonard says with a small smile.

“Bones you can’t give your ten-year-old a scrap-metal sculpture for her birthday.” Jim shakes his head.

Leonard frowns, thinks that Jim shouldn’t downplay his own work so much. Sure, it’s unconventional to make art from scrap metal and discarded wood but Jim’s made it into an art – literally and figuratively speaking, plus it’s surprising how big the market has become for out-of-the-box sculptures with hipster-culture thriving.

Jim smirks, points his own beer at Leonard and adds: “Unless it’s an interpretation of the world’s-worst-father, which is what you’ll be.”

“First of all, you’re a dick.” Leonard huffs. “Second if I want to give my daughter a sculpture, I can. And besides, she asked.” He raises an eyebrow, dares Jim to argue with that.

It’s not, however, Jim that speaks.

“It does seem like the kind of gift that could also serve an educational purpose.” Spock comments with an approving nod.

Leonard beams at Jim because darn it, it’s not like Spock agrees with him regularly –Spock sometimes sides with Jim like a good boyfriend but usually he just completely disagrees with the both of them.

Jim shakes his head at Spock, kicks him teasingly in the thigh and then turns to Leonard with a raised eyebrow. “Like?”

“Science.” Leonard quickly says, taking a big swig of his beer bottle to hide his grin. “It’s for science.”

so bout that samurai jack episode

so I really like samurai jack, always have always will

which makes me feel the need to make a bit of a post on my perspective on what happened in the recent episode with Jack and Ashi becoming a couple

I really didnt expect peoples reactions to be as extreme as they were, but I also entirely understand all the arguments that would make people want to reject this ship so harshly

but given that, I don’t think the creators of the show handled things as undelicately as everyone seems to think, and this coming from a person who has a pretty similar life and “origin story” if you will as Ashi AND Jack (minus the obvious impossibilities like time travel :P but growing up in abusive isolated cult home? check. constant hyper vigilance and feeling disconnected altogether from a sense of time? check. nightmares and ptsd symptoms in general all around? check. I’m just saying, I connect to both characters here lol)

Collectibles

alrighty!! i just completed my first prompt!! this is for @boldlydeepestcheesecake , who requested lance giving himself up to the galra in order to save keith! i hope u enjoy reading it as much as i did writing it!!

Their helmets were long gone, making communicating with each other impossible. Shiro, Pidge and Hunk had been separated from them during the fight. Keith had been captured. And Lance?

He was lost. So lost.

He was as far into the Galran ship as he figured he could make it. The sounds of running druids rang loudly in his ears, adding to the headache ebbing its way into his brain. He crouched lower when he heard voices coming his way, and held his bayard out as steadily as he could given the circumstances. However, it didn’t seem to be enough, and two druids spotted him.

anonymous asked:

I need a fic where Ashoka from Rebels finds Anakin (either she time traveled or Anakin does) and Ashoka just hugs him and cries--thinking how can this man become Darth Vader and Anakin is really confused but he hugs her and it's all cute and yes. Or for angst--Anakin finds out about his future from Ashoka and he's terrified but idk I need older Ashoka talking to Anakin ahhhh.

It’s not Anakin.

It cannot possibly be Anakin.

“Just hang in there. We’ll get you back to the medics in one piece. Just don’t give up on me, okay?”

But that voice and hair and those too-old eyes in a too-young face are Anakin’s. The thin scar is Anakin’s and the impossible balance of cold durasteel strength and warm, calloused skin around her hand are Anakin’s.

The sounds of battle all around her, is the music of his life, of his existence. Anakin Skywalker was born to wage war and Ahsoka Tano knows this better than anyone.

She has watched him perform this dance for almost two decades now.

“Anakin?” Ahsoka croaks out, grimacing in pain as she looks up at his young, unscarred face. This is not the burning demon with hellfire eyes and a dead star for a heart.

This is not Darth Vader.

This is her Skyguy.

But even know, she can feel the darkness eating away at him.

“Sir! She’s awake!” Kix cries out and Ahsoka wants to weep. It has been so long and she has missed her family so much. So many of them are gone, so many lost to time and Palpatine’s machinations.

“Kix?” she whispers, marveling as he turns to look down at her, the familiar blue paint of the 501st scratched up on his helmet and chest plate. “Is that really you?”

Why does it hurt to breathe? Where did she get hit? When did she get hit? Where had she been before this?

“General! The charges are set!” Rex’s voice crackles out of his helmet as he runs into Ahsoka’s vision, firing back at battle droids as Anakin continues to protect her, deflecting bolts like he was born with a blade in his hand. “Ready when you are.”

She’s back. She doesn’t know how she’s back or what brought her back but she has to tell Anakin while she has the time. While she’s still aware, before she passes out.

There are sounds of gunships and suddenly she’s being lifted up, shouldered between Kix and someone else as they drag her to the gunship. She lets out a groan and tries to keep the contents of her stomach down as they run, jostling her and nearly knocking her out as whiteout flashes of pain wash through her.

The world tilts sideways and then Anakin is running for the ship, Rex hot on his heels. They jump inside as the ship starts to take off, the doors sliding shut in a perfect symphony of skill, bravery and sheer dumb luck. It is an evac only Anakin Skywalker is capable of.

Anakin Skywalker, the man slowly turning into Darth Vader.

The man being eaten alive by his fear and his love.

“Skyguy…” she whispers, trying to reach him in the Force, trying to tell him everything he needs to know before she loses consciousness, before she wakes up and it’s all a horrible dream. “Please… master… You have to… listen to me.”

“Sir? I think she’s trying to tell you something,” Kix shouts over the sounds of battle, as the ship is buffeted by the explosive force of cannon and laser fire. The lights flicker out for a moment and Ahsoka stifles a cry.

She has to tell him.

She has to stop him.

“Skyguy…” she nearly sobs, holding out a hand. “Please!”

Anakin manages to climb over the wounded to make it to Ahsoka’s side, confused. “Kix, what did she say? I can barely hear her.”

Kix shakes his head. “I don’t know but she says you have to listen to her. I think… I think she called you Skyguy.”

What?!” Anakin snarls, anger flaring and dying before he looks down at her. The edges of her vision are going grey and then black and for a moment she quails and thinks those dearly-missed blue eyes have burnt away to gold but then it’s gone and Anakin is holding her hand and it’s Skyguy and Master and everything is warm and all right again.

For a moment she is Snips again and she did not realize how much she missed being Snips.

For a moment she is sixteen and Anakin will make everything better.

“Master…,” Ahsoka whispers, trying to squeeze his hand. “I… I have to tell you… about Darth Sidious… and v-Vader. I… have to… tell you… I won’t… leave you…”

“Kix?” Anakin’s voice is harsh and demanding as her vision turns to black and she starts to fade away. “Kix, get her back! Snips! Talk to me! Ahsoka! AHSOKA!”

Ahsoka closes her eyes and her last thought is I’m sorry I can’t keep my promise, Skyguy.

There is a convoree outside the window of the hospital room, hopping from branch to branch, fluttering its wings and tilting its head to the side as it watches the inhabitants of the room through the transparisteel.

“All biological markers are identical. How is that possible?”

“The Force works in mysterious ways, Anakin. Especially around you.”

“Ha ha. Very funny, Obi-Wan. I’m serious. That’s Ahsoka. This… this… this woman is my Padawan!”

Neither of them say Former Padawan even though they both think it.

“We shall simply have to wait and see when she…”

“She’s waking up! Ahsoka? Ahsoka, it’s me. It’s your ma… It’s Anakin.”

Ahsoka’s vision slowly comes into focus as her montrals tell her that she is in a private room, several monitors cheerfully cataloguing her biorhythms and her continued existence. The light is too bright for a moment and then it’s softer, darker, a shadow falls over her vision and when she finally opens her eyes, Anakin is smiling down at her, worried, terrified and cautiously happy.

The Force sings with his presence. Master! Master! Your master is here! He’s here and he’s safe and you are back home where you belong!

Ahsoka takes a shallow, watery breath. “Anakin?”

He touches her cheek and smiles, squeezing her hand with his gloved hand. “Yeah… Hey Snips, you uh… you got taller.”

“How are you feeling, Ahsoka?” Obi-Wan seems to simply appear in her vision, hovering behind Anakin, his anxiety barely hidden behind his Negotiator’s mask and a gloved hand nervously combing his beard. “Should we get a healer?”

Ahsoka shakes her head and squeezes Anakin’s hand back and give him the best smile she’s capable of. “No. The healers can wait. I have so much to tell you.”

“Snips…” Anakin’s tone is familiar, the rumbling warning of his displeasure at her self-neglect and brings tears to her eyes.

To be Snips again meant to be cared for, cared about.

To be Snips again meant that someone loved her.

Ahsoka takes a breath.

“Skyguy… I’ve missed you so much but… I have to tell you about Darth Vader.”

Trouble- Cassian Andor

Pairing: Cassian Andor/OC

Prompt: Jealous/Overprotective Cassian with fluff ending

Warnings: None that I can think of other than the fact that this fic is a monster lol SO LONG

A/N: This took my DAYS so I really hope it turned out alright <3 I did a lot of research, but I also made up a lot of things so if any of it’s wrong, you’ll just have to suspend your disbelief and find it in your hearts to forgive me lol thank you for reading and hope you like it! xD

“Cassian has asked me to inform you that we will be leaving for Kafrene shortly.”

I placed my hands on my hips, raising both eyebrows. K2 stared back, although it was impossible to tell the expression on his face considering he was a robot. Usually I had to wait for him to open his mouth to pinpoint what kind of mood he was in.

“What? He couldn’t drag himself back here and tell me himself?” I asked, turning and heading back into my room to grab my jacket from the bed. “Didn’t take you for an errand boy, K2!” I called over my shoulder.

i know this isn't really related to your art but how do you figure out when ship weeks are? like lol i don't know anything about them and then ur like haha kiribaku week y'all and i am confuddled please share your magic

… so you know how tumblr (the site itself, I mean) has that kind of one track mind for which once you start following one (1) blog related to Thing it’ll start suggesting you all the blogs about Thing? I’m the type of person to go “… why the heck not” and click on the follow button of every single one of those suggestions so now I kind of follow most of the blogs related to the ships I’m on, which means that the posts about the weeks are kind of bound to happen across my dash one or a hundred times in a row

👍👍👍👍 the magic is having no implulse control at all my dashboard is a magical disaster 👍👍👍👍

My OTPS Are Driving Me Crazy

Name your top 5 SHIPS that are driving you crazy right now. The ones that are still at the WILL THEY OR WONT THEY STAGE, STOP BEING IDIOTS, or the worst of them all FOLLOW YOUR HEARTS ALREADY. Oh and because the creators love to see us cry, ITS MORE THAN THE ADDICTION and SHOW CROSSED LOVERS.

WILL THEY OR WONT THEY-BELLARKE

These two have been teetering on maybe since late season one and even though it seems THEY WILL, every time they have a heart to heart or life or death moment, THEY DON’T. BELLAMY and CLARKE have a deep connection, and the thing that makes it unbreakable is that above all they are best friends, but it’s clear their is more. Still I will never abandon this ship or loose hope because this ship has all of the makings for true OTP status.

STOP BEING IDIOTS-KICHIE

From the moment they met KATE and RICHIE had a spark and even though he brought her into a living hell she found the humanity in him that no one else took the time to see. The sexual tension was palpable from the first kiss and had it not been for her death and possession by and evil Aztec goddess they would most likely have been together by now. Unfourtiantly this show is in major limbo and may not get the chance to show us that happy otp ending, but if it does I’m still screaming STOP BEING IDIOTS ALREADY because you have that thing that screams endgame.

FOLLOW YOUR HEARTS-BRALLIE

BRANDON and CALLIE have been IT for each other from the beginning. This has been proven through both of their failed attempts to get over each other. Starting out as friends and moving on to something more passionate than most married couples, their hearts had to take a back seat for family. After accepting their roles as siblings and trying to make it work they only found distance, but now that Brandon has taken a stand and made it publicly known that he won’t shut Callie out of his life anymore in order to quail the awkwardness, it’s clear that they are on their way back to being best friends. If they both finally decide to FOLLOW THERE HEARTS this time around, they will find that their is never going to be anyone else for each other. They have always put family first so here’s hoping they find a balance and become the OTP they were always meant to be.

IT’S MORE THAN THE ADDICTION-RIZZY

RAPHAEL and ISABELLE status came out of necessity. She needed the drugs to quail her addiction and he succumbed to his long gone thirst for flesh blood from the sourse. Had isabell not needed a fix from someone she knew then these two probably wouldn’t have mingled much, other then the occasional Ali in the fight against evil, but alas they did and something came of it. While most people only see the addiction some of us choose to look past the substance abuse and see the deeper connection. Raphael is someone who doesn’t open up to others very easily and yet he is basically an open book when it comes to Isabelle. The same might be said for Isabelle in regards to her need to keep things bottled up. Somehow in-between the highs, these two found a connection and if we are lucky they will get the chance to explore that SOMETHING MORE with out the drugs. While I know due to book circumstances of cannon Sizzy and Raphael’s sexual status this may all end rather quickly, but I still can’t help love this pairing. I would love to see Raphael an asexual character find something he’s been missing in a relationship with Isabelle an extremely sexual character who is never found that profound connection with anyone. As probalimatic as they started they too have all the makings of an amazing OTP.

SHOW CROSSED LOVERS- KLAROLINE

From the moment they met their was an imediate attraction between Caroline and KLAUS. Although He was one for the chase Caroline could not come to terms with what she was feeling. The thing that made their connection so powerful was the fact that while Caroline could see the bits of humanity in the monstrous klaus, he could see how much more alive she was when she became the monster herself. He was in awe of how unbelievably human she was when she became a vampire as it simple heightened all of her amazing qualities. Caroline in return started to piece together the type of man Klaus could be. These two as many other would be lovers were torn apart by obligation and family. Once they were actually put on two different shows it seemed impossible, but now that their are whispers of a possible move to New Orleans it just may happen. Another issue for these two was time, it was never right, but that may all change very soon. These two may have once been SHOW CROSSED , but with the ending of TVD their is hope. Klaus has always maintained that he intended to be Caroline’s last love and that intently echoes endgame.
