it's hard to pick favourites because i love it all

The Princess Saves Herself in This One by Amanda Lovelace

Goodreads: 4.7/5
My Rating: 5/5

a poetry collection divided into four different parts: the princess, the damsel, the queen, & you. the princess, the damsel, & the queen piece together the life of the author in three stages, while you serves as a note to the reader & all of humankind. explores life & all of its love, loss, grief, healing, empowerment, & inspirations.

first I would like to say I’m not big on poetry. second I would like to say that despite that, I adored this. I read it in one go because it was simply too beautiful to put down. it is so full of emotion, full of empowerment and full of truths. you can tell so much was put into it. one of my favourites (picking just one was incredibly hard btw) is the following:

“the princess
locked herself away
in the highest tower,
hoping a knight
in shining armor
would come to her

- i didn’t realize i could be my own knight”

I would 100% recommend this to anyone I know, so what are you waiting for? go and read it!

I feel like I was born in the wrong generation.
  • Everyone my age is happy listening to Kanye and people like that. Although I admit I do love artists like Drake, Twenty One Pilots and the Weeknd, I find myself more drawn to artists such as The Beatles or Frankie Valli (and obviously John Lloyd Young even though he wasn't from the 60s he sings songs of that era). It's hard to pick music during parties, especially the ones I throw, because I don't listen to contemporary music all the time. Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith are my two favourites, but they remind me of another era, one where musicians could actually sing and write. Although there are worse things in the world than being out of touch with current music, I feel like my tastes are elsewhere. I'm still a teenager, and I worry that I'll be judged a bit for my interests and musical affinities (although I have no problem admitting I think JLY is really cute). None of my friends have been judgmental but I feel like they realize I like other music and think it's weird or something but don't say anything. I don't really care that much, it's just sometimes I think about it and I freak out.Idk. Okay mini rant over sorry 😂
