it's an all out buzz

The fact that kids have to ‘come out’ to their parents basically means that parents assume their child is straight until they are officially told otherwise. And that is so messed up? It’s like raising your child and assuming their favourite colour is blue because you think that’s most people’s favourite colour and then one day they have to tell you it’s actually yellow and for some reason that’s a big deal. Like, you don’t have to tell your parents if you’re straight because they just assume you are, but if you identify as anything else, it’s this big deal of “I’m not who you thought i was”, when the thing we should be making a big deal about is WHY DID THE PARENTS ASSUME ANYTHING IN THE FIRST PLACE? CAN WE STOP RAISING CHILDREN AND BELIEVING THEY ARE STRAIGHT UNTIL THEY TELL US OTHERWISE?

WHY CAN WE NOT MAKE TALKING ABOUT SEXUALITY AS CASUAL AS TALKING ABOUT YOUR FAVOURITE COLOUR:

YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE COLOUR? FINE.
YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE? FINE.
YOU DON’T HAVE ONE? FINE.
ANYTHING ELSE? ABSOLUTELY FINE.

Stop raising children and believing they are straight until they say otherwise.

Stop raising children and believing they are straight until they say otherwise.

  • me: one time a fly got caught in my coffee and i felt so bad for it that i got a q-tip and dug it out and gently rinsed it with the damp cotton part and let it sit on my hand to dry itself off, and when it was all done buzzing out its little wings it flew up and kissed me on the cheek
