it's all gold and blue really

How the various generations handle generation one
  • Generation 2: Gold and Silver are for all intents and purposes a continuation of Red, Blue and Yellow. Old Pokémon get new evolutions, and the region itself is revisited in the post-game, with a secret final boss in the form of the player character from the games.
  • Generation 3: A good amount of the old Pokémon are not included in Ruby and Sapphire's original National Dex, and the focus is largely on the new Pokémon. Kanto itself only receives a few mentions. Red and Blue receive remakes later on.
  • Generation 4: Some more Kanto Pokémon receive new evolutions, but most of them are not included in Diamond and Pearl's regional PokéDex, though they are added to the regional PokéDex in Platinum. The Kanto region itself is once again revisited in the remakes of Gold and Silver.
  • Generation 5: Not a single Kanto Pokémon is in Black and White's regional PokéDex, and the focus is entirely on the new Pokémon for the main story. Even in the post-game, there is not a large amount of Kanto Pokémon available. And while the regional PokéDex in Black 2 and White 2 is expanded to include about 150 old Pokémon alongside the new ones, they do not receive any sort of special attention. Additionally, the Kanto gym leaders and champions return along with all the other gym leaders and champions for the Pokémon World Tournament.
  • Generation 6: WE HEARD YOU LIKE KANTO SO HERE'S AS MUCH KANTO AS POSSIBLE IN THIS NEW GAMES. WE ARE TERRIBLY SORRY THAT YOU HAVE TO START WITH THESE UGLY NEW POKÈMON, SO HERE'S THE KANTO STARTERS FOR YOU ABOUT FIVE MINUTES INTO THE GAME! AND THEY ALL GET MEGA EVOLUTION! FUCK, LET'S JUST GIVE CHARIZARD TWO MEGA EVOLUTIONS! AND MEWTWO, TOO! WHY IS IT IN THIS NEW REGION AT THE OTHER END OF THE WORLD? WHO THE FUCK CARES, IT'S HERE AND THAT'S ALL THE COUNTS! AND LET'S JUST GIVE THIS NEW MEGA EVOLUTION THING MOSTLY TO KANTO POKÈMON BECAUSE WHO THE FUCK CARES ABOUT ALL THE OTHER ONES?? THERE'S ALSO LIKE 70 NEW POKÈMON BUT WE'LL BARELY FOCUS ON THEM.!THE FIRST FOREST IN THE GAME IS VIRIDIAN FOREST IN ALL BUT NAME, THERE'S A FUCKING SNORLAX BLOCKING THE ROAD, AND YOU GET A GOD-DAMN KANTO BIRD IN THE POST-GAME.
  • Generation 7: THOUGHT THAT GENERATION 6 HAD MUCH KANTO? WELL WE HAVE EVEN MORE! YOUR PLAYER CHARACTER IS FROM KANTO, THE PROFESSOR JUST CAME BACK FROM KANTO, KANTO POKÈMON MAKE UP THE LARGEST PART OF THE REGIONAL POKÈDEX, THERE'S NEW REGIONAL VARIANTS OF POKÈMON BUT ONLY KANTO POKÈMON GET THEM, YOU FLY ON A FUCKING CHARIZARD EVEN THOUGH IT'S NOT IN THE REGIONAL DEX, A CHARACTER GOES BACK TO KANTO AT THE END OF THE GAME, A WHOLE BUNCH OF CHARACTERS FROM THE OLDER GAMES RETURN BUT WE'LL JUST FOCUS ON RED AND BLUE BECAUSE NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE OTHERS, RIGHT? Oh and there's like 70 new Pokémon again but you really have to go out of your way to find a good chunk of them so that's good.

“You! Yeah, the one with the shitty-lookin’ feathers, c’mere for a second. You were in that shop with me earlier, weren’t you? Pretty sure we both bought cigarettes. Anyway, I left before you did, and I think I might have dropped my lighter on my way out. Did you see it? It’s about this big, gold, looks like it’s got a lady on it.” His vague gestures didn’t really do his description justice, but he was frantic and desperate to find his precious keepsake.

White and Gold/Blue and Black Dress Explained

Here is a photoshop color sample of the colors of the dress pixel by pixel

As you can see the dress has several hues some of which are a gold brown, some are an almost black brown, some are a blue, and some are an almost white blue. So why do some people see it as white and gold and others as blue and black? Its all how our brains percieve color. Your brain has a really nasty habit of creating these things call schemas. Schemas are defined as an organized pattern of thought or behavior that organizes categories of information and the relationships among them.   Basicaly schemas are like stereotypes for your surroundings.

Your brain takes information from things you’ve previously seen to shape how your brain assumes other things should look or act. This is why optical illusions work, they play on your optical schemas, this is also why most optical illusions don’t work on people who were blind for most of their life and then gain the abilty to see, they have no visual schemas. The optical illusion below, I think, is a great example of schemas:

These squares are the same color in both pictures, but because your brain sees the shadows it expects the shadows to distort the colors, so it “corrects” the colors for you. This is one of the most commonly exploited schemas in optical Illusions.

So, in conclusion, your visual schemas, or what you’ve seen in your life up to this point, determine which colors your brain percieves the dress as. So noone’s wrong and noone’s right.
