it would be cool if she did

i can’t be mad that sarah won, because she really did deserve it out of the three. it’s just so funny that she literally copied tony’s technique (with much more grace), and she still had to fight a semi-bitter jury to secure her win. i mean, i would have rather had andrea, cirie, michaela, hali, aubry, or malcolm win, but that’s cool i guess.

since I now pretend at being a star wars blog, I’ve decked it out for the 40th anniversary of star wars tomorrow! icon and mobile banner are switched out, the queue is loaded with OT posts, and now, a star wars story.

you know how cool it would have been if my parents had met at the star wars premiere? well, that didn’t happen. however, the day of the premiere my dad closed his office early (which he never did) to go see the matinee showing of star wars with my mom because he “knew it was going to be a big deal”. after they got all settled in the theatre my mom decided she wanted popcorn, and that’s how she missed the opening scrawl. however, my dad was hooked and when it re-released in theatres when I was 10, he took me to the premiere showing of each re-release. we’re a star wars family (or most of us are).

anyway, on this most catchphrasey of anniversaries,

may you celebrate with blue milk and all the cantina music your ears can handle!

(also if you have read this far, drop a prompt in my inbox and I’ll write you a drabble for may the 40th <333 prompts will be open until 3pm EST)

I really wanted to see more of Savitar and Iris. I wish they would have explored that dynamic a little more. Obviously she would never choose him over Barry, but I wish they would allow her to explore the reasons why. I wanted to see her torn when she finally saw Savitar, I wanted to see her angry about what he did and then I wanted to see her war with her feelings for who he was and who he might be. And to be honest CP and GG had amazing chemistry in those scenes. It was kind of hot.

um hard pass on that. he is her murderer. don’t romanticize shit like that. yeah, grant and candice for sure have amazing chemistry and seeing versions of their characters interact is always cool but nah we don’t need some fucked up love triangle between barry/iris and savitar.

Cindy x Aranea for the ship meme 😎

ooooh. I’ve never thought of them as a ship before :O LET’S DO THIS!

Who said “I love you” first: Cindy. She said it so nonchalantly too. It took Aranea by surprise. It took Aranea a long time to return such a proclamation. Cindy was totally cool with it. The mechanic holds her heart on her sleeve and respects that not all people aren’t as willing or public as her.

Who would have the other’s picture as their phone background: Cindy! She definitely loves to show off her girlfriend who is extremely badass. Might as well have her picture for easy access… hehe.

Who leaves notes written in fog on the bathroom mirror: Cindy definitely does. Aranea actually blushes every time she sees the messages.

Who buys the other cheesy gifts: Aranae always finds really cool stuff on her travels as a mercenary. She is always sure to pick Cindy up something she’ll like.

Who initiated the first kiss: Aranea did, actually. I’m pretty sure their kiss is what got them together in the first place.

Who kisses the other awake in the morning: Cindy. Cindy usually doesn’t sleep… so she’s Aranea’s alarm clock. What a better way than to be kissed awake?

Who starts tickle fights: Aranea does actually. Cindy gets way too distracted in her garage. When Aranea wants attention… SHE GOES IN FOR A TICKLE ATTACK. Cindy’s attention is soon back onto Aranea.

Who asks who if they can join the other in the shower: Yes. Both. All of the above. They are so confident. These ladies like saying whatever they heck they want.

Who surprises the other in the middle of the day at work with lunch: Aranea always visit’s Cindy’s garage. Cindy works none stop. Aranea picks up some lunch from Taka’s diner and brings it over to the garage. They enjoy a nice, quick meal before taking on their busy schedules again.

Who was nervous and shy on the first date: Neither of them really. Both Aranea and Cindy are two confident women. They’re happy in their own skin and they already they like one another.

Who kills/takes out the spiders: Aranea. Cindy feels bad about killing anything. But she hates spiders a lot. Aranea has a great time hunting down spiders and making them meet their maker. *Evil laugh in the distance*

Who loudly proclaims their love when they’re drunk: Aranea. Cindy definitely can hold her liquor pretty good. She gets tipsy… but not drunk enough to start obnoxiously boasting about Aranea. Aranea on the other hand…. wow. VERY LOUD. MANY CURSE WORDS. MANY EXPLICIT DESCRIPTIONS.

My gramma just told me the best fucking story

When my gramma was in her early twenties (this was early 1950’s), she dated this guy named Larry and he was like SUPER FINE. One night after dinner Larry took my gramma to this bar where there was gonna be kind of a burlesque show type thing. She thought it was kinda strange that a guy she was dating would take her to something like that but whatever, she’s an adventurous lady.
So this blonde dancer comes out and starts her routine and she was super good and really gorgeous. Gramma’s impressed. But then Blondie comes over to Gramma and Larry and ruffles Larry’s hair like she knows him really well or something, so Gramma’s like ???????
Anyway the dancer ended her routine by taking off her bra and revealing that she was a drag queen. Gram says to Larry, “Okay that was cool and stuff but why did you show me this?”
Larry says, “That’s my brother.”
My gramma’s boyfriend brought her to see his brother’s drag show for like their third date.

The White Dress.

This story is about my friends MIL, and her wedding. Strap in guys, this is a wild ride in which I did THE THING that got me banned from any of her family functions. (Plus a few threats of dismemberment and bodily harm)

A good friend of mine from university was getting married! They had been a couple since Junior year of college, through her 2 years in the peace corps and currently her return to this continent. 6 years in total. She had been to all manner of family functions and always came back with a strange story about how she thinks her MIL secretly hates her. But she being a very quiet and sweet person pushed those thoughts aside.

Point 1: She is vegetarian and jewish, husband is not. She was invited and went to Christmas dinner and figured she would just eat sides, as well she brought a vegetarian casserole. MIL, after knowing her for THREE years, and being told by husband a few weeks before about not to forget friend doesn’t eat meat…proceeded to put meat in every dish. Friend drank water and ate her casserole the whole night while MIL cried to everyone that friend was so rude for not eating her cooking.

iris with that gun... what if she became a detective. she was one on another earth. would be cool but then i guess the paper wouldnt make sense if she quit. welp

remember she wanted to become one but joe didn’t allow it? so she did journalism instead. and yeah i guess the byline would change AGAIN lol. but she will still end up marrying barry regardless of that.

Here is a list of things that I am including in this book. Please send me my seven-figure advance.

• affluent family lives in suburb. The husband (who is a professor but also a novelist) is cheating on his wife, but he thinks it falls into a moral gray area because he is a Great Man

• they expected that their lives would be different than they are, and this makes them snap at each other with words that cut deep and carry a history, which they did not used to do when they were young and in love and the world held out its hand to them and said “COME!”

• wry aside

• several paragraphs to show that the author has read Proust or Kierkegaard

• much younger student somehow really wants to sleep with this professor novelist guy. That’s cool, great, she is the aggressor in this scenario

• sex scene containing one bizarre detail that makes you worry a little bit about the author, not in a judgy way, just in a does-he-actually-think-this-is-how-that-works?-how-has-he-been-married-for-six-years? way

Peridot (Steven Universe) is autistic

-Uses an alternative communication device (her pre-recorded voice), especially when she needs to get complicated thoughts into words

-Echolalia: “clods” “clod” “CLODS”

-Doesn’t understand why what she says hurts the crystal gems

  • “What did I say?”
  • “Mean? I was just being ~cool~. Amethyst loved it!”
  • *tries to joke and smile and wave at Amethyst*

-Has trouble with communicating (earth specific vocabulary) so she makes up a word system that makes sense to her

  • in addition to her amusing words for mundane things: “how do you feel?” “big.”

-very literal

  • “Oh peridot, you’re killing me!” “I am not! that would violate our truce agreement!”
  • “you’re funny!” “Funny?”
  • Garnet: ”You’ll know when I’m joking.” Peridot: “eaahhhh”
  • “What is ‘nerd’? can you use it in a sentence.”
  • “you’re a real gem peri” “yes I am a gem”
  • “this drill is pure irony!” “actually it’s mostly carbonite”

-Odd humor

  • “I could call her… two things! Two clods… one clod…”
  • “Amethyst! Check out this … rhythmatic pulverizer!”  *flails on ground laughing*

-Upset by the unpredictability of the Crystal gems

  • “that… was not the correct answer…” (when Amethyst didn’t laugh at her joke)
  • “I have come to the conclusion that they are all defective”

-mimics behavior (the shirt nose flick thing)

{Speculation beyond this point}

-her limbs might be both comfort items and weight stims. She’s very upset when she’s parted with them and she clutches the foot that steven returns to her and rocks back and forth a little

-Glasses- maybe for light sensitivity

-meltdowns? Pearl:“*sigh* another one of her temper tantrums.”

IDK if you saw the post about how, before the Death Star plans were captured, the asset Bail was sending was *Leia herself* to Obi-Wan. But I'd like an AU based on that. No Death Star Plans, only a 19-year-old-girl strong in the Force, trying to beat the Empire.

She didn’t—

Luke cocked his head, watching the girl in white move through the marketplace. He couldn’t figure out what it was about her, why one minute he had been engrossed in Waing’s new shipment of power converters and the next he was staring at her, totally unable to tear his eyes away. He wasn’t entirely sure how he’d gone from one to the other, except he had, and now he was watching her. It was important he watch her, he knew it was important, though he couldn’t figure out how he knew that, or why.

It wasn’t that she stood out—sure, no one wore robes of that clean white, not unless they had a lot of slaves or droids to do the laundry for them, and yeah, she was the sort of pale you generally only saw in traders, who spent more time in artificial grav than sunslight. But she could be a water merchant’s daughter slumming it in Toshe, or an off-worlder, taking in the sights. (Not that they had many sights to see in Toshe, Luke thought with a snort.) And nobody else seemed to notice her; she stopped at Kinqua’s stall and dipped her fingers into the bowl Kinqua left out for tasting, and lifted it to her lips, licked the droplets away.

Luke had seen Kinqua casually lop off a child’s hand for that.

Skywalker,” Waing said, startling Luke out of his thoughts. “You made a decision? Or are you just going to keep feeling up my tech until it agrees to go home with you?”

“Cool your drives, Waing,” Luke said mildly, but he was still staring at the girl in white. She had two droids trundling after her, he realized belatedly—an astromech and a protocol droid, though he couldn’t make out what they were saying at this distance. Their lights were flashing, though, and he wished he could read visual binary.

“Oh, I see,” Waing said after a minute, and Luke could hear them smirking. “My tech isn’t all you’re hoping to take back to the Whitesun-Lars homestead.”

Luke felt his face go hot, and he forced himself to look back at Waing. They were smirking. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said coolly, but he couldn’t focus on the power converters anymore. The girl in white, had she—

“Pardon me.”

This close it was abundantly obvious that she wasn’t from Tatooine—no one from this planet carried that air of interestingness with them, like they had a secret that might change the whole course of your life. She must be an off-worlder. “I’m looking for Obi-Wan Kenobi. Do you know where I might find him? I was told he lives near here—”

“Old Ben?” Luke cut in, before Waing could answer. “Do you mean Old Ben?”

The girl in white looked at him for a long moment, and Luke felt the back of his neck heating up. “I don’t know,” she finally said. “Is he near here?”

“Oh, sure,” Luke laughed, more out of relief than anything else. “Old Ben’s just a few klicks from here, he lives near the western gorge—I could take you, if you want,” Luke said quickly, because she looked increasingly put-out, and he felt something in his chest twinge in answer to it.

But she shook her head. “Thank you for the offer, but this is a personal matter.”

“It’ll cost you serious credits if you charter a speeder,” Luke said. “I’m headed that way anyway, let me take you. And your droids. Really,” he said, because she still looked uncertain. “It’s no trouble.”

She looked at him for a long moment, and her dark eyes were very serious. (He liked her eyes, for no particular reason he could figure out.) “My name is Leia,” she finally said, sticking her hand out.

“Luke,” Luke laughed, taking it and shaking it. It was cool and smooth, and if he’d needed any confirmation she was from off-world, that was it. “Skywalker. My uncle owns a moisture farm in the eastern hemisphere.”

“I’m—not from around here,” she said, and Luke almost laughed because—well, obviously.

“Consider yourself lucky,” Luke said, and something of her tiredness and tightness (why did he know she was tired, down to her bones?) eased. She smiled back, a small smile. Luke counted it as a victory.

“I am C-3PO,” the protocol droid cut in, sticking his head between them as though it would stop them from looking at one another. He was burnished gold, and in the high sunslight it hurt to look at him. “And this is my companion, R2-D2.”

The astromech whistled a greeting, and Luke laughed. “Pleasure to meet—all of you. My speeder’s docked by the Ithorian, if you want…?”

“Hey, Skywalker, aren’t you going to buy anything?” Waing interrupted, and Luke winced, barely managing to tear his eyes away from Leia, who was still smiling, very slightly.

“Sorry, uh—maybe next week?” Luke offered lamely, but he was already ushering Leia and her droids away, and he could hear her laugh, very softly. (His chest fell too full, hearing it.)

It felt strange, formal and right, to help her into the speeder. Her hand in his was a kind of symmetry, inexplicable, the way he knew how a speeder was supposed to fit together, how a full tank of moisture sounded when you rapped it with a knuckle. Organic and totally without reason, their hands fitting together. She still hadn’t told him her surname, if she had a surname. Where she was from. What she was doing here. What her droids were doing here.

Luke couldn’t help but trust her utterly. Otherwise, why did her hand feel like that, resting in his?

What do you need to see Old Ben for?” Luke shouted over the rush of air around the speeder.

I told you,” Leia shouted back. The white hood she wore had fallen back, and her hair was dark. Even carefully styled, those loops over her ears, strands came loose, whipping around her face. “It’s personal!”

They stopped at the farm first, just to refuel and drop off the handful of things Luke did buy—rations, holonews downloads, some sucrose-candies for Aunt Beru. But when they touched down, Owen went white beneath his sunsburn, staring at Leia like she was a creature from another galaxy. “Your Highness,” he breathed, and Luke had to correct him, just an off-worlder looking for Old Ben; don’t pay her any mind. Look, Uncle Owen, I brought you your Almanac—

Leia was silent; picking at a loose thread in her white, white robes.

(Afterwards, she was silent, her arms crossed over her waist. They sped across the desert, which was gathering dark by the armful. “Sorry,” Luke said, trying to keep himself from shivering, “I know it gets cold at night.”

“It’s all right,” Leia said. “On—my planet, it snowed. We had mountains, and we would build whole castles out if it, out of snow. It was beautiful.”

“I’d like to see snow,” Luke said, but he thought it was lost in the sound of the speeder, because she didn’t reply.)

By the time they reached Old Ben’s place, it was dark enough for a lamp to be burning, the light spilling beneath the door and out the window. Luke watched as Leia knocked on the daub doorframe, shivering.

Still, it was worth staying just to watch the flicker of Old Ben’s expression from surprise to shock when he greeted her. He called her by a name that was definitely not ‘leia’ and Luke watched her shoulders hitch. “No,” Leia said finally. “I am Leia Organa, Princess of Alderaan. I am the daughter of Queen Breha Organa and Viceroy Bail Organa, and I am—I am here to beg your aid for the rebellion.”

Luke wasn’t so surprised that he didn’t notice Ben’s eyes cut to him, and then away.

“Princess,” Ben said finally, with an awful heaviness. Luke had brought him ration packs and listened to his stories he had never sounded like that before, like it was something awful and deep beyond saying. “If they sent you to find me, they must be very desperate.”

“No,” she said quickly, and Luke knew she was lying. “No, but—we need Jedi. We cannot go forward, we cannot fight, if the Force is not with us.”

This time, Old Ben’s stare lingered on Leia, then on Luke. He seemed to be making up his mind about something, though Luke couldn’t say what. Old Ben had always struck him as a sort of harmless religious sort; in another world he might have been a Jedi like in the stories, but instead he was a desert madman, talking to the air and clutching at a bit of carbon tubing like it was a lightsaber.

There was nothing harmless about the way he was looking at them now.

“I’ve been happy here,” Old Ben muttered, quietly, like an apology.

“Fine,” Leia said, almost a snarl. Luke could only see her in silhouette, against the light from Old Ben’s hut. He thought suddenly of a predator, something that could leap on the unsuspecting. “But no one ever promised us happiness.”

Luke could see Old Ben’s throat work. “Come in,” he said at last. His gaze darted to Luke, and Luke caught his breath. “What I have to say is—for both of you, now.”

Luke shut off the speeder.

(He had followed Leia into Old Ben’s hut, and didn’t come out the same man. No, not the same man at all.)

RFA + V and Saeran react to overhearing MC's family scold her because they despise who she's dating? Maybe they think they aren't successful and responsible enough or not loyal or trustworthy or feel like MC deserves far better than what she's getting our of them? Specifically I'd like to see Saeyoung's reaction given his insecurities.

And we’re back! Did you guys miss some scenarios?

Hope you like this! ^^

RFA + Saeran and V finding MC’s family disapproval

Zen

  • “Sweetie, I just think he’s playing with you.”
  • He heard that coming from your father when you two were washing the dishes in the kitchen, Zen noticed you two forgot a plate and was bringing it to the kitchen.
  •  “And what makes you think that, dad?” “Well, he’s handsome, I bet he has tons of women running after him. Maybe famous women? What makes you think he won’t dump you for some famous actress? He’s a public figure, honey, his image is everything. Plus… he sounds shallow like that.”
  • Shallow? Zen could deal with being called narcissist, workaholic, but… shallow? He was sounding shallow to your father?
  • He wanted to walk into the kitchen, maybe subtly, maybe not. He wish he had some really witty and smart statement to give so your father would realize he wasn’t just image
  • And he was about to step into the kitchen when he finally heard your voice: “If he sounds shallow, maybe you didn’t pay attention enough to what he was saying, dad. Have you listened to his story? His problems with his family? The way he struggled when he started his career as an actor? Have you heard when he told you how much he loves me and how guilty he feels that we’re still not married? Come on, dad. Either you weren’t listening, or you don’t know what shallow means.”
  •  “But, honey…” “His family is broken enough, dad. Let’s not break ours too just because you’re seeing Zen as just another actor, not as the man I chose to share my life with.”
  • Zen could almost cry right there. How did he manage to find someone who can see so deep inside him? Yeah, he definitely likes being known for his looks, but the fact you see beyond them is really overwhelming.
  • When you two are saying goodbye to your father, he gives a firm handshake to the man.  “I hope we can spend more time together, sir.”
  • “I would like that a lot. I see you have a bike, what brand is it?” that goodbye turned into a long conversation about bikes, which was super boring to you, but seeing them bonding was worth it.

Yoosung

  • “I honestly thought it was a joke when you introduced him as your boyfriend, sis.”
  • He heard when you and your sister were in your bedroom trying to find something for you to wear, Yoosung accidentally spilled wine on you.
  • “Shut up.” “No, I’m serious! What are you thinking, MC? He seems like a teenage mama’s boy. Look at what he did to your shirt, he’s so clumsy and… nerve-wracking! You’ll have to play his mommy all the time!”
  • Well, it’s not like he haven’t thought about himself like that before, but listening when it comes from another person, that person being someone who grew up with you hurts a lot more.
  • His first instinct was head out of there without anybody noticing he’s gone. But… then your sister would be completely right.
  • “He just spilled wine on me because his spatial notion is still a little compromised due to his eye. Have I told you he hurt his eye trying to protect me, sis? And yeah, he’s still a little nervous because he doesn’t know my family too well, but your hostility definitely won’t help him calming down. If you’ weren’t such a bitch, maybe you would have noticed by now he’s an amazing smart man that makes me really happy.”
  • “You just called me a bitch because of that guy?” “I did, just so you know how serious I am about him, to the point I’m fighting with my favorite person in the world.”
  • Well, he’s glad he didn’t run and stayed to listen to this. You made him sound like a really cool reliable guy, the type of man he’s trying to be for you.
  • After you and your sister go back to the living room, she makes sure to sit next to you two. “So wait… you asked her to be your pre-girlfriend before you got together? Oh my God, that’s so adorable…”
  • Then you two kept squealing over that photo of his with the roses, and though he’s super embarrassed, he couldn’t help feeling a little smug when your sister said ”Huh, I wish my boyfriend were like this.”

Jaehee

  • “She seems a little cold, MC. Are you sure she really likes you?”
  • She heard when you and your brother were setting the table while she was talking to your parents in the living room, she decided she needed to help as well.
  • “Ugh, don’t even start, bro.” “I’m not saying this to be an ass! Come on, MC, she’s so formal! She’s almost like a granny, you’ll get bored if you stay with her! This if she doesn’t dump you first, she seems cold like that.”
  •  You warned her about your brother’s brutal honesty, but this still felt unexpectedly hurtful.
  • She was really trying to loosen up, and she honestly felt she was doing a good job, at least next to you and to your friends, maybe she wasn’t and people close to you were feeling she wasn’t real about your relationship?
  • “She’s been working her ass off on a very strict company basically since she graduated, she’s still learning to loosen up. You would have noticed this if you weren’t so desperate about finding something to complain about my girlfriend, as you typically do.”
  • “Jeez, MC, calm down! I’m just worried for you.” “I appreciate it, but you’re the one boring me right now, let’s end this before I stop feeling bored and end up getting angry.”
  • She can’t help feeling this warmth growing inside her. Knowing that you are willing to fight for her like this is amazing! Not only because she never had that before, but also because it’s you.
  • Your brother decides to talk a little more to her. “Whooooa, so you’re a judo blackbelt? That’s awesome! You gotta teach me some moves!”
  • Well, giving this guy an ippon after he pissed you off would satisfy her more than she cared to admit.

Jumin

  • “Are you sure this is a healthy relationship, honey?”
  •  Your mother asked you when you two were making dinner while he was setting the table, as you asked him, but he didn’t know where to find the forks.
  •  “What do you mean, ma?” “I mean, he seems so intimidating and, everything is happening so fast, you barely know each other and are already engaged, he seems very intense, for that matter.”
  • Well, he was indeed very intense, but… intimidating? He never wanted to come across as intimidating, not to you, not to the woman who raised you.
  • Was he intimidating you to the point you were feeling pressured to get married?
  •  “Mom, I know what you’re trying to say. He’s not like dad, okay? Yes, he is very intense, just because he never had the chance to express his feelings like all of us do.“
  • “Well, your father wasn’t good at expressing feelings either, then he expressed with actions…” “Ma, Jumin would never hurt me, emotionally or physically. I know you might be thinking I’m on a cycle, that I have daddy issues, but… just give him a chance, okay? Let him prove he is nothing like my father.”
  • He was really sad for you and your mother. Two amazing women were suffering due to a man’s behavior, this was awful in so many levels…
  • He walks into the kitchen, pretending he didn’t hear a thing. “Why don’t you just rest while MC and I cook, maam?”
  • “Oh wow, what a gentleman… nothing like her father.” He smiled genuinely, neither of the women were feeling intimidated by that smile.

Saeyoung

  • “Your mother and I think you deserve better.”
  • Your father says when you were helping him changing a light bulb, Saeyoung decided to help when he heard this.
  • “Why would you think that, dad?” “Sweetie, he’s a train wreck! He’s immature, irresponsible, you told me how rude he acted with you. How can you be sure he won’t start pushing you away again?”
  • Of course he knew how immature and irresponsible he was, but he never really thought about what if he started getting snappy to you again. He promised he wouldn’t, but… was he good at keeping promises? Ask his brother.
  •  If he had any good sense, he would walk away and pretend he didn’t listen to any of this. He was already immature and irresponsible, he didn’t need o be nosy as well.
  • “He just pushed me away because he was worried and pretty sure he would die at any moment back then, dad. He was scared, he’s been scared his whole life! Have I told you what kind of hell he and his brother grew up at?”
  • “Sweetie, it still doesn’t justify…” “It does to me. He is scared and willing to change for me, I know that because I trust him. Can’t you trust the man your daughter loves? Not even a little?”
  • Well, if you asked him anything with that tone, he would oblige without thinking… ugh, you’re so sweet, so lovely, so caring… he can never push you away again! Not right now his life is so great with you and his brother, but it isn’t perfect, since your parents don’t like him…
  • “I’ll be honest with you, son. I still don’t trust you, but my daughter does and she never failed her judgments, that, and only because of that, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt.” You looked at him and smiled.
  • “Thank you, sir. I’ll prove it will be worth it.” Not so immature and irresponsible right now, is he?

Saeran

  • “MC, listen to me, this guy is trouble!”
  • He heard this through the baby monitor when you and your sister went to check on her son.
  • “Why are you saying this?” “MC, he is… creepy! Are you dating him to punish dad? Look at him, he looks like he’s on the edge of a mental breakdown! Are you sure you want to play his nurse forever?”
  • He wasn’t on the edge of a mental breakdown! At least not now… at least not since you came along, but there were a few says, though…
  • Your sister is so right! He’s so weird and creepy, he doesn’t deserve you at all! Why did he even think he could handle trying to be normal and do normal things with you?
  • “I’m not playing his nurse! I like to help him because I love him, and he had mental break downs in the past, you would have too if you were locked up and forced to drugs after growing up with an abusive mother. All he needs is support and a loving family, not this… judgment from you!”
  • “MC, calm down, I was just…” “I know you’re concerned, but focus your concern on helping me give him what he needs. If you have nothing else nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
  • Saeran didn’t hear any of this, he hid in the bathroom when you two left the bay’s bedroom and kept talking as you walked into the living room.
  • Then you two heard the baby crying through the baby monitor, but he quickly stopped, you two found it odd and went to check on him.
  • He was fine, Saeran was holding him. “Am… Am I doing this right?” Making yours and your sister’s heart explode from sweetness? Yep, he was doing this right.

V

  • “What are you even thinking dating this guy, MC?”
  • Your brother asked you when V went to the toilet, he got lost and tried to get back to ask your brother where was it, exactly.
  • “What do you mean?” “I mean, he’s an old blind man, MC! You’re wasting your youth with a guy like this, he won’t be able to keep it up with you!”
  • V already thought about it, yes, you were so young, did you really need to take such a responsibility by dating him?
  • And that coming from your brother, who sounded so worried… he hated being a burden and provoking this arguing between two family members…
  • “He’s just one year older than you, so chill. And what century are we in? Do you think just because he’s blind, he’s not able to have a normal life? Dude, we’re planning a trip to Italy for my birthday, I think that’s pretty normal, don’t you?”
  •  “MC, take I easy, I’m just…” “You’re concerned, but you don’t have to.  He’s pretty good by himself, and he’s independent, he doesn’t need me, yet he wants me, and I want him, so there’s nothing for you to worry about.”
  • He needed you, maybe not to do things for him, yes. But he needed you because he loved you, and he was so happy that you were so sure about him not being a burden.
  • You were saying goodbye, when your brother said: “I’m sorry, dude.”

Morgan Brian and Lauren (Cheney) Holiday on their friendship on and off the field:

“Every time I came into camp, she was the first one to talk to me, and make me feel comfortable. I was coming to camps from college and it was kinda surreal to be surrounded by players that you look up to and she [Holiday] always made me feel welcome and made sure I was okay. On the field it was the same thing I remember some girl got a yellow card on me and it was a really bad tackle,” Brian said of a friendly against Canada in 2014. “She [Holiday] was the first one in the referees face. She has another side to her when she gets mad, so everyone calls her alter-ego ‘Shanaynay’, so that came out and I thought it was really cool. ”

“I’ve told people this before- Morgan is going to be the star,” Holiday said. “I think that you guys just saw a glimpse of what she can bring to the table in the World Cup. I told her a year before the World Cup started, she would be starting in a World Cup final and I don’t think she believed me at all. But, she did and I think she did a great job for us.”

“Off the field, just having fun, enjoying it and being young. You forget what it’s like to be that player,” Holiday said. “That was me, that was A-Rod [Amy Rodriguez], that was Tobin [Heath] years ago. Just being around her and hanging out with her and getting to know her, I’ve gotten to experience that again and that’s been fun for me.”

I don’t think this friendship got enough love & recognition.

Dreadneldritch

No pets were allowed on campus.

The freshman orientation guide was very, Very clear about this point. Absolutely, positively, no pets allowed. (minor exceptions to be made for service animals.) And yet here she was, 3 weeks into her first semester, sitting on the ground, staring at a cat. It was staring back.

Dread had always been fond of animals. She had never been allowed to have any pets, (her father was allergic to most things with fur, and her mother just hated animals) but she had always wanted a cat. Multiple cats, preferably. And now she was sitting on the steps of her dorm, in a college where No Pets Were Allowed, staring at the most precious little ball of fur she had ever set eyes on. She knew far too well about the other rules (she was on her second roommate, now, and the delicate horns curling from the thing-that-was-not-her-first-roommate’s face had left an… impression.) She was very good about remembering iron, salt, and not to say please or thank you. But this was a very cute cat, and she was willing to risk a little bit.

It meowed. She held out a hand, and it walked right up to her, and “oh my goodness you are just the cutest thing!” she squeaked. The cat seemed satisfied.

She was, to say the least, conflicted. The rules were very clear, and the rules were generally right, but this was a very small cat, and she did not have very many friends, and really, she already knew what she would do. “C’mere, you.” She scooped up the cat and it snuggled into her jacket. “I’m going to name you Eldritch.”

—-

It was about three weeks later that things got… actively weird. She had managed to smuggle in, via the Walmart (which had no employees that day, she left the money on the counter and hoped that nothing Else would take it) a litter box and cat food. Eldritch seemed to settle in fine, and she traded her roommate 3 dollars and a cool rock in return for not telling anyone about the very, very illegal pet currently snoozing on her lap. The roommate, whose name was Chalkboard, seemed to like the cat. Chalkboard even gave the cat a cat-toy. When Chalkboard vanished (decided to take the “fake your death to avoid breaking up with your s.o” advice a little too much to heart), Not-Chalkboard did Not like the cat. Dread caught Not-Chalkboard making what looked like a very rude hand gesture at the cat on multiple occasions, although it’s hands were strange and it was hard to be sure. It was when Not-Chalkboard, after having a Very Intense staring contest with the cat for about 6 minutes, saw the error of its ways and vanished, leaving Chalkboard in its place, that Dread began to think something might be up. Eldritch said nothing, as cats are wont to do, but it purred a great deal when Chalkboard let it sit on her lap while she was doing her homework. This was, to say the least, Rather Suspect. Nothing more was said about it.

Watch Me Babygirl [ pt.6 ]

Summary: Jungkook is your brother’s annoying best friend. You can’t stand him but he just can’t resist teasing you. How far will he actually go?

Warnings: slight language and smut (pretty vanilla smut tbh)

[pt.1] [pt.2] [pt.3] [pt.4] [previous part] [next part] [pt.8] [pt.9] [pt.10]

“Switch partners.”

You sighed, placing your hands on the kitchen counter. Jimin had been pestering you for the last hour about being assigned to a project with Jungkook.

“For the last time Jimin, I can’t. The teacher won’t let us,” you replied calmly.

It was half true you supposed. The teacher had paired you and Jungkook up because the two of you sat by each other but it was a total lie that she wouldn’t let you switch partners.

When did it become OK to be a dick to Taylor Swift?

She has every right to be proud of her achievements

~~

It’s cool to hate Taylor Swift.

If you were to believe what people say about Taylor Swift you would think she is nothing less than an evil mastermind bent on world destruction when, in fact, she is simply a musician whose work has been justifiably recognised for its more than considerable merit.

You may say that people hate on Taylor because Kim Kardashian exposed her as a snake, but in reality this was just the final straw. The tide has started to turn against Taylor well before that. The hate she received and is still receiving for winning the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2015 (which was completely beyond her control by the way) is a perfect example of that.

The fact is that people loathe to celebrate successful people, especially women. When it seems like someone is getting popular, they are immediately seen as too big for their boots and the criticism starts rolling in. They are the real snakes, not Taylor.

A perfect example of this is this article from BuzzFeed which accuses Taylor of making her entire career off playing the victim. BuzzFeed have previously been very supportive of Taylor, publishing articles like “21 Times Taylor Swift Proved She Has A Heart Of Gold”, “17 Reasons Why Taylor Swift Couldn’t Possibly Top “1989”. If you’re going to be critical, then please show a consistent line.

The truth is that now that it’s in vogue to hate on Taylor, publications like BuzzFeed have readily jumped on the bandwagon. Penning a 20-page long essay about how much you despise someone is tantamount to creating a ‘Mean Girls’-esque burn book. Not only is this playground behaviour, but also a colossal waste of everyone’s time. The whole article is redundant because by engaging in a personal attack upon Taylor’s character it ends up doing very thing it claims Taylor Swift has based her whole career on – turning her into a victim.

The disturbingly ruthless character assassination of Taylor has come about in an age when America is rebelling against the traditional girl next door. This once practically untouchable archetype has now been thrown out of the window in favour of celebrating diversity, which is undoubtedly fantastic for society. What we must be careful of, however, is to not go too far the other way in order to achieve this goal of equality.

How can the persecution of what Taylor stands for – the girl next door – belong in the diverse accepting society we want to create? This is a society where there is room for the gay kid, the black kid and the girl next door to sit at the same table, rather than one where the girl next door is left out to justify the years she enjoyed the spotlight over others. That’s called reverse discrimination, which benefits nobody. What we need to strive towards is equal spotlight, equal recognition.

There now exists a paradox whereby white artists like Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, who all received Grammy nominations this year, are still clearly favoured by established institutions such as The Grammys, as evidenced by the events of last Sunday, but their work is unfairly dismissed by the masses as redundant fluff.

Taylor Swift winning Album of the Year angered a lot of people and whether or not it was the right decision it was the decision which was made and Taylor has every right to be proud of her achievement. After all, this was the moment she had worked for since she was 15. The culmination of the fruits of her labour. The fulfilment of her dreams. To rob anyone of that satisfaction is bullying no matter what the reason.

The fact is that ‘1989’ was, in fact, one of the best albums in recent memory, you can check out this BuzzFeed article for all the reasons why. You don’t need to carry a political message in order to be a bloody fantastic album. Taylor’s mastery lies in reinvention and pitch perfect PR campaigns. And newsflash, every single artist manipulates the media – Beyonce herself is just as shrewd a businesswoman and people adore her. It’s a fickle business.

The matter is one of respect. Artists, generally speaking, are much better at showing respect for one another, which is important considering that we lived in an era when pop is looked down upon as a lesser art. Taylor Swift had already declared herself a fan of Kendrick Lamar when she asked him to feature on her song ‘Bad Blood’. If Lamar did not respect Taylor’s work he would have declined, which begs the questions as to why the general public is so damning of Taylor on behalf of Lamar when the artist himself publicly has already declared his respect for her work.

Taylor Swift is an intelligent, strong woman who has managed to create a successful career for herself out of nothing and that is purely based on talent, not playing the victim. Do you think people who buy her albums if they carried the same message, but without her level of musical mastery? Absolutely not. Does society need to change to recognise more diverse talent – of course, but don’t blame Taylor Swift for a problem that should be equally shouldered by all of us.

Language

(This post is going around.  Since I pretty much like the post, I’m making my own post rather than introducing this in the responses there, but I do want to link to it for context.)

A really cool and classy trans lady I corresponded with for a while on a different social site used words like “transsexual” and “transgendered.”  She spoke of herself as being born in the wrong body, and she spoke of herself as being biologically male, MTF.

She was in her late 60s.

I did not correct her.  I would not in a hundred years have dared.

Given the social climate and hostility she had endured, I was fortunate to be speaking to her at all.

I have occasionally seen younger people criticizing older people quite harshly for that sort of thing.  That hurts.

The use of language changes, my friends.

It is so, so very important to help people outside the community understand what language is most appropriate, and it’s important to discuss this stuff within the community so that we can reach some kind of consensus (however messy) moving forward.

It is also very, very important to respect the elders among us, and to understand that their experiences and the wisdom they have to share with us are of tremendous importance and incalculable value.  And the language they use?  Is part of their history, and our history, and respecting that fact in all its complexity is part of respecting them . . . and respecting ourselves as a community.

Language is so important, but in thirty years I guarantee you some of the language we defend so vigorously now will be woefully outdated, and many of us will still be clinging to it, much to the consternation of the younger generation.

I’m not saying it isn’t important to strive to create the most respectful, helpful language possible, and educate others when it is right to do so.  It is vitally necessary that we do so.  But we have to remember that this is a process that, thank heavens, never, ever ends.

Language cannot, and should not, stop evolving.  Look at us.  Look at all of us.  So beautiful, so many.  We are a dynamic community, a vivid community, full of art and history and passion and pathos and great, great power.  Something so lively is always surrounded by change.  That is so beautiful, and should be welcomed going forward … and it should be respected looking back.

There are words not yet invented that will apply to those not yet born.  Those people should be respected when they join us.  And the words we use now, they are good for now, and we should be respected.  And our elders should be respected.  Letting language take that from us is a horrifying prospect.

So.  Let us not forget that language is primarily meant to be what helps bind us together.  Let us remember not to let it set us apart, to squeeze us like a fist.

Please remember your history when discussing language.  You will eventually be part of our history.  You already are.  Please.  Go with open hands.

Myrtle & Draco Friendship

okay but guys it was established in half-blood prince that myrtle sort of comforted draco right?!!! or he confided in her or whatever. “…he’s sensitive, people bully him, too, and he feels lonely and hasn’t got anybody to talk to, and he’s not afraid to show his feelings and cry.” SO i think that they were possibly acquaintances (*whispers* friends) BEFORE it was canonically confirmed in the 6th book. And draco would literally just go up to the girls’ bathroom and bitch about BLOODY POTTAH when everyone else was fed up with his rants and told him to piss off. Myrtle would always listen, intrigued. And in 4th year she would tell draco that she saw harry’s…package (prefects’ bathroom, golden egg and all that) and draco would be like “haha HA HA probably tiny as fuck bloody pottah” and myrtle would just smile slyly and deadpan, “quite the opposite, in fact” and draco would blush furiously and like sHIT?! i might be reallyfuckinggay. And then he would constantly ask myrtle, for academic purposes of course, whether she saw potter naked again and could she, you know, be a LITTLE more descriptive. HE JUST WANTS TO MOCK POTTER OKAY?! He needs deets to be able to do that!!! Shut up!!! Myrtle would totally ship them and lock them in classrooms together all the fucking time. And draco would definitely update her on what they did in there afterwards (as if she wasn’t spying like c'mon this is moaning myrtle)!!! gUYS LIKE AM I THE ONLY ONE?!
