it was supposed to be a sirius

Dear Journal,

Today we all went to Diagon alley to shop for school suplies. Our little Teddy was going back to Hogwarts in a week. I don’t want him to leave me again! Sirius and I were walking hand in hand and Teddy was texting to James Sirius. We were supposed to meet him and James and Lily at the three broomsticks but they weren’t there yet.

“Prongs probably lost a sock or something!” Sirius commented, laughing.

Around five minutes later, they arrived.

“I’m sorry, it’s all my fault! I had lost my sock!” James said.

Sirius started laughing.

“What? It’s the truth! I lost my sock!” James said, pushing Sirius’ shoulder.

“No we believe you! It’s just that I guessed you would be looking for a sock or something because you’re always late for stupid reasons!” Sirius laughed.

“I am never late!” James said.

“You were late to our wedding!” Lily smirked.

Sirius high fived her laughing and James rolled his eyes.

“I was not late, I was lost in the building! Not the same thing!” James said to his defence.

“Okay Okay. Whatever you say baby..” Lily smiled, kissing his cheek.

“Oh my god… Lily Evans just called me ‘Baby’?!” James joked.

We laughed and remembered our old times at Hogwarts. We ate this delicious meal and talked about nothing and everything. During lunch, James Sirius and Teddy were exchanging heart eyes. It was actually quite adorable.

We bought Teddy’s books and school suplies. It was his last year so he was excited. We went back home with James Sirius on our back seat. He was staying over for a few days since Lily and James had a trip planned.

“Dad?” Teddy asked from the back seat.

“Which one?” Sirius asked laughing, the wheel in his hands.

“Hum.. kinda both.. James and I were wondering how you handdle things when you had to come out to the whole school…” Teddy said, getting a bit anxious.

“Oh.. well, it was hard to gain up the courage but we were so happy afterwards. It just takes a few minutes of discomfort and you might get scared but it’s all worth it. It’s almost like ripping a band-aid off..” Sirius said.

“You just have to both be confident. You need to both help eachother get trough it.” I added.

“Okay..” Teddy said.

“Are you guys nervous?”

“Yeah..” they both said.

“It’ll be okay. If people don’t accept you, they’re just not worth it..” Sirius said, probably thinking about his parents.

“Okay.. thanks dads.” Teddy said.

“Anytime Teddy bear.”

James Sirius giggled a bit and Teddy sighted.

“That’s actually the cutest nickname! I’ll call you my Teddy bear from now on!” James Sirius laughed.

We all laughed at Teddy’s red cheeks. They were going to be alright.

“Sirius, where have you been? We were supposed to have dinner an hour ago,” Remus sighed when he heard the front door to their apartment open.

Sirius barrelled through the kitchen, barely kissing Remus on the cheek as he flew by. He mumbled something under his breath until he reached the bedroom. Remus stared after him, perplexed, and momentarily forgot about the roast in the oven. The timer on the counter buzzed erratically and Remus jumped. He swore as he tried to save the roast from its crispy death.

Meanwhile, Sirius found his way back to the kitchen. With a great sigh, he plopped down into one of the two seats at the kitchen table. Remus risked another look over his shoulder to see what the hell was up with his boyfriend. All he saw in the two seconds he had to give Sirius a once-over was that Sirius had both elbows propped up against the table and his head bent between them.

The roast hadn’t suffered a most untimely death and for that, Remus was more than thankful. He slid the pan out of the oven and onto the stovetop to cool. Now that the roast was taken care of, Remus spun around to face the curious scene that was Sirius at the kitchen table.

“Um, Sirius?”

“Hm?” Sirius’ popped up from between his forearms. “What?”

“Well,” Remus gestured in his general direction, “what’s going on?”

“Oh, this? James and I went and got our nails done, which is why I was late. It went way longer than bloody expected. Can you believe getting a manicure takes longer than five minutes?”

Remus raised a skeptical eyebrow. “You think a manicure can be done in five minutes?”

“Uh, yes,” Sirius snorted. “God, Remus, it’s like you’ve never painted nails at a sleepover before.”

There was an elongated pause while Remus turned to check on the roast. Sirius scoffed.

“You haven’t, have you? All right, that settles it.”

“Settles what?” Remus asked without turning back around. When there was no response from Sirius, he sighed and turned to see the reason for his boyfriend’s silence. “Siri, what d—”

Sirius stood by the fridge with a tiny bottle in between his fingers. It only took a second for Remus to understand what the bottle had inside of it.

“No, absolutely not,” he shook his head. “I just took out the roast!”

“Like I said: five minutes.”

Remus covered his face in both hands and groaned.

“Fine. Five minutes.”

“THANK YOU. I have blue with sparkles or one that changes color with your mood.”

“Do you think it’ll change color when it gets closer to the full moon?”

“Dunno, wanna see if it changes color if I take you into the bedroom and—”

Orion - Sirius Black

Ever since you were little, you have dreamed of owning a dog. Unfortunately, that couldn’t happen because of your mother’s allergies. It devastated you.
Sirius realised this and thought it was time to take some action.

I don’t know what is wrong with me. This was supposed to be just a small draft on my computer to get the idea out of my head… but NO! I had to write a full on 4000 word story…
It’s probably way too long and the whole plot doesn’t even make sence anymore…but I like it, so it stays.

One day you were hanging out with your friends: James, Sirius, Remus, Peter and Lily, in the Gryffindor common room.

You were currently in your sixth year. It was the middle of the night, it had just turned midnight. There was a huge party going on the hours before to celebrate a glorious win in Quidditch. Even though Hufflepuff had gotten the snitch, Gryffindor won. And it was all thanks to James. Right before the snitch was caught, he made one more goal, which resulted in a 160 point difference. So when the snitch was caught, they still won by 10 points.

As it was already the next day, most people went to bed. The six of you kept on laughing (and drinking). It was very visible that you were all drunk.

You can’t clearly remember why, but Sirius, who was seated next to you on the ground, started to imitate a dog. He barked and growled, making everyone laugh. As he stopped, you sank onto his chest and sighed.

“I wish I had a dog. I love dogs.”

“What you love so much about them?”  Sirius said.

“I don’t know, I just do. But I can never have one. Not until I move out at least.”  you were still leaning against Sirius, he was playing with your hair. It was a weird thing he often did when you were drunk, but you liked it.

The next morning, all of you were dead at the breakfast table. At this point, most of the Gryffindors knew better than to talk to you, or as if everything was okay. They all knew the reason behind it. HANGOVER.

“Never again,” mumbled Sirius, with his head in his hands. But you all knew that next week will be the same. James, who was wearing sunglasses to protect his eyes from the sun, said: “so, what are we gonna do today?”

“Die,” groaned Remus, who was trying to eat his porridge, but looked as if he was going to get sick at any moment now. You all agreed. But you still had other plans for the day.

“I have to study.”

“Excuse me!” Sirius shouted in shock, receiving death glares and hisses from the people around him, “Sorry, sorry. What are you talking about (Y/N). you’re head will explode if you don’t do anything today.”

“Actually I’m fine,” I said as I stood up, “I clearly didn’t  drink as much as you thought I did. See you at lunch.”  and you were off, leaving your hangover friends at their table.

Instead of the library you decided to go to your favourite spot on the grounds to study for your test. It was a nice and sunny day, so why not?

You sat down under a tree and took your book out of your bag. With the fact that the weather was wonderful, not many people were actually outside. It was better for you: this way you could study easier.

You were maybe studying for about 10 minutes, when something rustled in the bushes nearby the spot you were sitting at. At first, you thought nothing of it - thinking it was just a bird or another small animal. But after a few minutes, it still didn’t stop. You sighed in frustration and walked up to the bush. You probably should know better than to check for wild animals in bushes on your own. But you weren’t too far away from the school and you were sure you just saw somebody walk around here somewhere.

You peaked through the bushes, meeting a pair of big eyes. You jumped back. Out of the bushes, a big black dog walked out. It did so very slowly, as if it was scared himself. It reminded you of something that you remember from a lesson of Divination.

“The Grim,” you gasped. You slowly walked backwards to your books when the big dog suddenly started to run at you. You screamed as he jumped on to you. You fell on the ground, with the dog still on me. You closed your eyes, ready to die at any second now. But nothing happened. The dog got off of you and licked your face.

“Oh, gross,”  you laughed and petted the dog on his head. He wiggled his tail and put his head on your lap.

You actually stayed like that past lunch. You were there such a long time that at some point, you heard your name being called. “(Y/N)! Are you there?” it was Remus. The dog’s head immediately shot up from your legs. He looked very observant. “Hey, it’s okay.”  you tried to calm him down, but the dog got up and ran away. You got up too and tried to run after it, but he was gone. You turned around to find Remus, James and Sirius.

“Oh, hey guys. Feeling better?” you said. You tried to listen to whatever Remus was saying, but you kept looking around. Hoping that the dog would show up again.

“I’m sorry, am I boring you,” Remus got your attention back, “because we can go. It’s just that we were actually worried about you, but you clearly-”

“No, it’s not that. There was this dog here.”

“A dog?”  Sirius said. You looked around again, but there was still no sign of the animal.

“Yes, a dog. He was big, black and absolutely adorable.” you said and it was followed by James who started to laugh. “And what is so funny, if I may ask?”

“Nothing,”  he shrugged, “It’s just that - er- often when people see a big, black dog they run away, not hang out with him the whole day.”

“Well, to be honest, at first, I did think it was the Grim or something like that. But then he turned out to be the sweetest thing.” you sighed, “and now he’s gone.”

“That’s a shame,” Sirius said, “Come on, let’s go have some supper.”

“Is it already that late?”

The next couple of weeks, you kept seeing the dog around the castle. At first, you thought you were hallucinating, but a few other people started to comment about a huge dog that walked around the building.

You found yourself going back to the tree several number of times too and most of the times, the dog would accompany you.

“I should probably give you a name, shouldn’t I?” you asked the dog one day. it was a very nice spring morning and you were only reading your notes, as the dog was sleeping next to you. As you had spoken, the dog looked up at you, his head a bit lopsided.

“Hmmm,” you thought for a moment, “how about Snuffles?”  you suggested. The dog clearly shook its head. It had made movements like this before. The ones that made it very clear he understood what you were saying.

“What do you think about Orion?” you said after looking at your astronomy book for some inspiration. The dog barked and you just assumed that it was a bark of approval.

“Than it’s settled,” and you went back to your studying. This time the dog put his head on your leg. The two of you were enjoying the day, until you heard a rumble in the sky. You looked up, the sky was starting to become more and more grey. Suddenly you could feel small droplets of water fall on your forehead. The dog whimpered and you smiled: “Go, I’ll see you around… Orion.” The dog replied to you with a wet lick on the cheek and then ran away.

For a few moments you wanted to followed the dog, to see where it was hiding when he wasn’t with you, but he was already gone. At this point, the slight drizzle had changed into a full on storm. There was no choice, but to run inside.

Right as you were about to step inside, somebody called your name.

“Sirius?” you said as you turned around. It was indeed Sirius. He was just running inside, completely soaked. “What were you doing outside…wait, do I even want to know?” he just laughed at your comment, so you assumed for yourself.

“I could ask you the same question, really.” Sirius draped his arm around you as you walked to the common room.

“Just studying w..” you stopped your sentence at the sudden smell that came off of your friend. “Dear Godric, you smell like a wet dog.” you immediately pushed him off of you.

“Who were you with?” Sirius ignored your comment.

“Uhm, no one.”

“Don’t lie. You wanted to say something before. Was it that dog again?” he sighed.

“That’s none of your business, Black.”

“I’m just saying, (Y/L/N), that dog could be dangerous.” you rolled your eyes at his comment.

“I highly doubt that.” you said as you both made your way towards the stairs - in silence.

“You know what,” Sirius stopped just as you were about to step on the first set of stairs, “I’m starving.”

“But it’s way too early for dinner.”

“Who says I’m going to the great hall,” he winked, “you want anything?”

“I’m good.” you said. Sirius walked the other way as you walked up the stairs. You had wondered for years how  the boys got all of the food, but you never got around to ask them. So, you turned around and started running in the direction that you saw Sirius walk to minutes ago. Maybe you could still catch him if you were quick.

Turning corners, there was still no sign of your friend. How was that even possible?  There was no way that he could turn invisible… was there?

Walking into another corridor, you suddenly took a step back, feeling that you stepped on something soft that made a sound as soon as you did. You looked down, seeing it was Orion. You had woken him up by accidentally stepping on his tail.

“I am so sorry, Orion,’ you wanted to pet him, but Orion growled and snapped towards your hand. You quickly pulled it away before he could bite you. Taking a few steps back, you looked at the dog, which was still growling and showing his teeth. You just turned around and walked away.

Walking back to your first destination, you thought about what Sirius had said before. Maybe he was right and it wasn’t the best idea to hang out with a wild animal.

“Hey, (Y/L/N). Wait!” Sirius was walking down from another flight of stairs, his arms filled with cookies and fruit. You held the painting of the Fat Lady open for him. He thanked you and the two of you walked into the common room.

“Here, I got some strawberries for you..hey, what’s wrong?” he looked at you as he put down all the food on the table in front of the couch that he had occupied. Apparently you were looking just as bad as you were feeling. You sat down on the spot that Sirius offered you.

“I guess you were right.”

“Excuse me?”

“Or- uhm, the dog. He almost bit me.” you stared into the burning fire.

“What! When did that happen?”

“A few minutes ago. I thought I would go back and see what you were up to, and then I walked into him.. a-and I accidentally stepped on his tail, waking him u-up.” at this point, tears were, very slowly, forming in your eyes. “So he got mad and almost bit me.” you sighed.

“I don’t get it.” Sirius said, “Why is he such a big deal to you? It’s just a wild dog.”

“It’s j-just that… I’ve always wanted a dog. And at first, he almost felt like my dog. I just wanted a dog!” you cried into his shoulder. Sirius let you until you were done.

“You still smell like a wet dog.” you laughed.

“Strawberry?’ sirius neglected your comment again. But you didn’t realise. You were enjoying the delicious fruit that Sirius had gotten for you. It was just what you needed.

“Who can tell me what a Patronus actually is?” your professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts asked the class. Only Remus put his hand up. Most of the class wasn’t even listening to what he had said. It was simply too hot in the room to function properly. You tried to listen to your friend who was actually sitting right next to you, but it was just so hard to concentrate. You only caught a few things about it being: “a representation of one’s soul.”  which was followed by a comment of from James or Sirius that made the whole class laugh.

“Thank you, mr. Lupin…mr. Potter.” the teacher looked at the messy-haired boy that replied with a wide grin.

“Now, the Patronus Charm, itself is far beyond your abilities now. So I will only teach you the theory.”

“Then what’s the point, professor?” Sirius asked from the back of the class.

“Do not interrupt mr. Black. As I was saying…” the rest of the lesson faded by you. It was inconvenient as the homework was to write an essay about the charm. “And, maybe, I will help the writer of the best essay in conjuring a patronus.” the teacher said as the bell rang and everybody walked out.

“He’s just saying that so everyone will make their homework,’ Sirius said as you all walked down the stairs to the Great Hall.

“So you’re not going to make it then?” Peter asked.

“Of course I am! Who would I be by skipping a chance on learning the Patronus Charm?”

“I’m sure we can do it by ourselves.”  I rolled my eyes as we sat down at the Gryffindor table. “With some practice, that is.”

“We will have all the information from the essay’s.” Remus agreed.

“So let’s agree on it: if none of us win with our essay (I doubt that, said Sirius, patting Remus on the shoulder) we are going to learn it by ourselves.” I said. Everyone said yes.

The next couple of days, everyone from your year was working on the Patronus essay. To your surprise, Sirius was one of the people that was working the hardest on it. He had much more written down than you… or Remus.

“I wonder what he has written there.” I asked him, as we both looked at Sirius.

“I have no clue.” Remus shrugged and went back to work. I looked at Sirius for a few more seconds. You could see he was working extremely hard. He had his tongue sticking out and the only time you saw him doing that was when he was working on some extravagant prank with his friends.

“Why’d you think he wants to win so much?’ you asked Remus. He looked up from his parchment, a bit annoyed that you kept interrupting him.

“He’s very competitive, I suppose. Now excuse me,” he pointed at his essay.

“Oh, right. Sorry.” you went back to work too, but not without the occasional looks at the boy sitting a few tables away from you.

“I have graded all of your essay’s,” your teacher said, looking through them, “and I must say that there are a lot of very well written ones.” you glanced quickly at Sirius, who was looking exceptionally proud of himself.

“With that in mind, I just couldn’t carry the thought of choosing just one.”

“So you will teach the whole class then?” James asked.

“No, mr. Potter. The deal was one student.”

“Oh c’mon. This is humbug,” Sirius spoke up, “my essay is 10 pages long!”

“And I must say that not all of the information in it is correct.” the teacher said. Sirius slid down his chair, his face looking a bit red from the anger. Soon after the bell rang and you were excused.

“So, when will we be practicing?” Sirius asked, startling all of you.

“How about this Saturday? Most of the people will be at Hogsmeade anyway.” Remus said. Everyone agreed on a time and place.

The next Saturday, you were all sitting in an empty classroom. You had moved the desks away, not knowing what effect you should expect.

“Will this actually work without a Dementor?” you asked Remus. Before he could answer Sirius spoke: “Yeah, but it won’t be as powerful as it with a Dementor nearby. With a Dementor, the patronus can staun in form as long as the wizard pleases. Without one in the neighbourhood, it will probably hang around for a minute and then vanish….What?” he looked confused as all of his friends stared at him in bewilderment.

“Nothing. It’s just… you really know everything about it, don’t you?” James smirked.

“I had to fill ten pages somehow.” Sirius shrugged. “Should we get started.”

“Good idea.” you said. “Tell us, professor Black, how do you conjure a Patronus?” you giggled.

“Very funny, (Y/N). It’s quite easy actually. You have to think of the happiest memory you have and say the incantation: Expecto Patronum. The happier the memory, the stronger the Patronus.”

“Sounds easy enough.” you said, getting out your wand. “Who want’s to go first?”

“I’ll go.” Sirius volunteered. Everyone watched in excitement. Sirius closed his eyes in concentration. After a minute, he took a deep breath and said, very clearly: “Expecto Patronum”. At first, nothing happened. Then, out of the tip of his wand, a bright, white light emerged. A vague shopping was forming, but it disappeared just as quick as it turned up.

“It is harder than it look like.”  he said, looking a bit disappointed.

“Nobody’s judging you, Padfoot, this was already pretty impressive for a first try.” James said, taking his wand out. He also thought for a moment and then spoke out the incantation. Only a small spark erupted from his wand, cheering Sirius a bit.

“Let me try.” you stepped up to the middle of the classroom. After James’ attempt, it made you feel a bit more sure about yourself.

You had to think about a memory. But not just a memory… it had to be the happiest memory of your entire life. But there had been so many…  Then, one came up that you didn’t think about in a long time.

It was at the beginning of your second year. You were sitting in an empty corridor, crying. A Slytherin girl had just made fun of you  (After so many years, you couldn’t remember what it was). You were feeling very lonely. It was already your second year at Hogwarts and you barely had any friends (maybe that was what that Slytherin girl had said.)

“Hi.” a soft voice pulled you away from your thought. It was a boy with a lot of black hair. You said hi back and went back to softly crying. Thinking that the boy would just walk away, you were pleasantly surprised when he sat down next to you.

“Why are you so sad?”

“It’s nothing.” you shrugged. The boy clearly did not believe it.

“You’re (Y/N), right?” he asked.

“Yeah.” you said through tears.

“I’m Si-”

“I know who you are.” you interrupted the boy, whose cheeks turned slightly pink, “you are James’ friend.” you said, thinking about the boy with the messy black hair who had just gotten into the Gryffindor Quidditch team.

“Yeah. that’s me.” he said with a grin on his face. Then it disappeared. “I uhm, I gotta go.” he said and ran off to somewhere. It made you a bit sad. For a second, you thought you actually made a friend. But you were wrong.

But then, you heard footsteps. They were running. Looking up, you saw Sirius coming back. This time he was holding a gigantic chocolate cake with strawberries. He handed it to you as he said: “Sorry I ran off like that. Had to get this for you. I hope you like the strawberries. They didn’t have anything else.”

“I love strawberries. Thanks.”

“You’re welcome.” he said. You both sat down and enjoyed the cake together. At first he didn’t want to share it because it was for you to cheer you up, but you insisted. “It’s what friends are for. They share.” you said, not realising what you just had said.

“Er - if you want to be, of course.”

“I would like that. Yeah. James is starting to be a bit of a pain sometimes.” you both laughed and ate the cake together.

It wasn’t necessarily the memory itself that was so happy, but the thought what it made possible. It was the moment your wonderful friendship started with Sirius and also with the rest. All of those adventures that you had, would have never happened if it wasn’t for that moment.

You shouted out the incantation: “Expecto Patronum!” it was immediately followed by a silvery light. Then, a dog appeared out of the light. It was big and looked very happy to be able to run around the room. Everyone looked at it in admiration. You were the first to conjure a full patronus… on your first try!

The dog ran around until it saw Sirius. It ran at him with extreme speed and then bumped into him, making SIrius fall over. As soon as they collided, the dog disappeared.

“Wow! You’re patronus is- Ow, what’d you do that for?’ Peter over the arm James had just hit with his hand.

“It’s Orion?” you whispered to yourself. But why?  You didn’t understand. Why was he your patronus?  You haven’t seen the dog since the accident in the corridor.

“Orion? Who’s Orion?” Remus asked.

“Er - that’s the name I gave to that dog that used to visit me by the tree. Remember?”

“You called it Orion? That’s very fitting, isn’t it?” James…giggled?

“How come?” you said.

“Sirius’ middle name is Orion. You didn’t know?” Remus said.

“He never told me.” you glared at your friend, who was suddenly very interested in his shoelaces. “Every time I asked him, he just joked it was Lee.”

“I wish,’ Sirius huffed.

“So what. It’s just coincidence. I was reading my Astronomy book when I gave it to the dog.” James wanted to comment on my rebuttal, but was interrupted by Sirius.

“Expecto Patronum.” he simply said. A dog appeared out of the tip of his wand. It was almost identical to yours, just a bit bigger.

You turned around to say something, but Sirius had left the room. The dog wanted to follow, but as soon as he had closed the door, it vanished.

“I - er- I’m gonna go..”

“You do that.” James smirked. I rolled my eyes and walked out of the room. You looked around for the boy, but he was nowhere to be seen. You could hear footsteps, so you followed them. They went outside. It was raining again, but you didn’t care. After only a few steps, you were completely soaked. The footsteps were lost in the sound of the heavy rain, but somehow, you knew where you had to be.

Just like you predicted, under your favourite tree, lay a big, black dog. It didn’t look up or wiggle his tail as you walked up.

“Why didn’t you tell me it was you?” you said, kneeling next to the dog…well, at your words the dog changed back into your friend.

“I don’t know. At first it was just a one time thing. I remembered you telling us how much you wanted to own a dog so.. Urg..” he groaned, “you must think I am an absolute creep.”

“Now that I think about it, we did share a few intimate moments… but at most, I would say it was sweet.”

“Yes.” there was a silence for a moment.

“You know what our patronuses mean, right?” he said as he took a step towards me. The rain was dripping in his hair, covering his face. You swepped a few locks away, looking deep into his eyes.

“I think I do.” you took a step closer too. There was barely any space left between you… and then suddenly none at all. Sirius put his arms around your waist and pulled you into a deep kiss. You immediately kissed back. It was a truly magical moment. For a moment the time had stopped and the sun was shining again. You both could have stayed there forever. You only let go once you had to breath.

“But why didn’t you ever tell me you were an Animagus?”

“I actually have no idea.” he laughed.

“We should probably get back inside. I don’t want my boyfriend to get sick.” you laughed.

“Boyfriend?” he smirked, making you blush.

“Er - if you want to be, of course.”

“I would like that. Yeah. James is starting to be a bit of a pain sometimes.” laughing, you walked back inside and the rest of the day, you spend sitting in front of the fireplace, warming up from the rain. But not before Sirius had gotten some chocolate cake for the two of you.

“You really have to tell me how you are getting into the kitchen.” you said, all cuddled up into his chest.

“Just because you are my girlfriend, doesn’t mean I am going to tell you all of my secrets at once.” he winked.

  • So the patronus isn’t straight up taught in Hogwarts, as a wise professor once said, it’s a ‘highly advanced spell, well beyond O.W.L level’
  • But you know, this is the marauders, the rebellious little nerds that we all know and love.
  • So James got hold of a book from  the library one day about how to do the patronus and it seemed very cool. Not the whole fighting dementors part, but the distant and simple communication? priceless for a marauder.
  • And so they all stayed up one night trying to learn how to do it.
  • Sirius was actually the first to successfully do the spell. He had spent the last hour lavishly flinging his wand in the air shouting ‘Expecto Patronum!’ to no avail. Them Remus told him he should try to think of a happier memory.
  • He thought of the first time he had called Euphemia Potter ‘mum’. It had been an accident and had really just slipped out. He had been so embarrassed. But none of the Potter’s seemed to have noticed. A few moments later James had turned over to Sirius and said.’Could you pass your brother the salt then?’
  • And Sirius had never felt more part of a family in his life.
  • He was so engrossed in the memory he didn’t even notice the frantic black dog shoot out to his wand and knock Peter onto his backside.
  • Peter was next, he was thinking of the moment when some of the Slytherins had been bullying him earlier one day in first year and he had been crying down by the lake all afternoon, only to have Remus come up and sit behind him, rubbing his back and comforting him. Then Sirius and James had pushed the Slytherins into the Black lake right in front of him. How they had laughed. Real friends.
  • The small rat that scurried out of Peter’s wand that night was the first and last one Peter could ever produce. This was 6th year and soon the war became to much for the young boy.
  • Standing next to a struggling James, Remus was viciously whispering and flicking his wrists over and over again. ‘Expecto Patronum. Expecto Patronum. Expecto f’fucks sake. This is hopeless.’
  • ‘You can do it Moony.’ Sirius smiled.
  • Remus thought about the first time he had kissed the stupid black haired Gryffindor in front of him. Sirius had been stealing something out of one of the cupboards along the school corridors when Remus had caught him on prefect rounds.
  • Looking back on it Remus couldn’t help but laugh at how unsubtle Sirius had been about the whole thing. ‘Oh, we seem to have bumped into each other Moons’ ‘What a coincidence.’ Remus of course had just assumed Sirius was trying to tease him into giving him detention, something Remus would never do, and had ended up getting pretty annoyed and flustered about being this close to Sirius in a small space and omg he could feel the heat of his skin and ah this was too much and he couldn’t stop talking.
  • Until Sirius closed that little gap between them to shut him up.
  • And Remus had never been happier. And he had never looked back.
  • And then a large animal came running out of the end of his wand, and Remus thought to himself.
  • ‘It’s a dog! Sirius and I have the same Patronus!’
  • Only Remus’ was much bigger than Sirius’ dog… and it’s tail was bushier.. and did it just howl?
  • No. This wasn’t fair. Not this. That wasn’t how this was supposed t be. It was meant to be a happy memory. This wasn’t fair, after all this time, the one thing he thought he could share with his boyfriend.. and this was what he gets… another reminder about how imperfect and unworthy and unwanted…
  • And then there was Sirius standing next to him, sliding his arm around his back and kissing him gently on the cheek.
  • ‘I love it.’ He whispered.
  • ‘ ‘s not fair.’ Remus mumbled.
  • ‘Remus look.’ Sirius replied. ‘it’s not that. It’s a wolf. A normal wolf. A loyal and pack having, friendly wolf.’
  • And Sirius was grinning.
  • But Remus just shrugged.
  • James was having the most trouble of them all.
  • Something was wrong, he just couldn’t seem to do it. He kept thinking of happy memories, first time he rode a broom, first time Sirius came to stay, first time he transformed into a stag.
  • And still nothing.
  • Tiny wisps of silver.
  • And then nothing.
  • ‘It’s fine James, we already know what it’s going to be.’
  • ‘I know,’ James replied through gritted teeth. ‘I just want to see it.’
  • And he was so fustrated.
  • And making a crap load of noise about it too.
  • So much noise in fact, that he started to wake the other residents of the Gryffindor tower up from their slumber.
  • And so a very grumpy and tired Lily Evans came storming down the staircase.
  • ‘What in Merlin’s name are you twats doing now!’
  • ‘Ah Evans.’ Sirius grinned. ‘care to join us?’
  • ‘It’s three in the fucking morning Black! I’m supposed to be sleeping, except someone has been screaming for the past half hour about how hard this is and he trying but it’s not working, and I can’t tell if James is finally losing his virginity or doing his homework for once, but what I do know is that it’s stopping me from being able to enjoy the few hours of the day that I don’t have to be around you lot.’
  • A rather deeply embarrassed James pushed past a bent-over-with-laughter Sirius.
  • ‘Actually Lily,’ he said, trying to act suave and like he hand’t just heard the last bit. ‘We are trying to do the patronus charm.’
  • This had peaked Lily’s interest, and although she knew better, she asked. ‘Really? The patronus charm? Wow. A proper one?’
  • ‘Yepp.’ peter chimed in. ‘And we’ve all been able to do it, except for James.’
  • Lily cocked her eyebrow.
  • ‘Oh.’ She smiled. ‘Let me try then.’
  • James, not wanting to be shown up any more by the fiery red head who was hopelessly in love with, quickly butted in. ‘No no. I mean, you can try.. but its really hard and took everyone ages to master and you’ll be up all night trying and-’
  • ‘Potter.’ She replied sternly.
  • It only took her three attempts.
  • And there it was.
  • A beautiful silver shimmering doe burst through the tip of her wand and gracefully ran across the common room, galloping past it occupants before turning and vanishing as Lily dropped her arm. She grinned.
  • ‘See? Not so hard then.’
  • James just stared. Open mouthed. Like the rest of the marauders. Dumb-founded in total and complete shock, until Lily just gave up on them and went back off to bed.
  • James didn’t have any trouble producing a Patronus after that.

  • I have this headcanon that Sirius has a Black family ring that he wears even after he’s left home.
  • (Because rings on guys are hot AF)
  • And one night Remus and Sirius are passing a bottle of firewhiskey back and forth
  • The common room is long empty and halfway through a game of truth or dare Remus finally gets up the guts to ask something that’s been bothering him for a long time
  • He catches Sirius’s hand in his own and holds it up so the ring glints in the firelight
  • “Why do you still wear this?"
  • Sirius just smirks darkly and curls his fingers into a fist
  • But Remus keeps staring at him
  • "You chose truth. Tell me.”
  • After a long pause Sirius shrugs and says
  • “It’s got a protection charm on it.”
  • His lips curve upwards “Ironic, right?”
  • Remus’s mouth is hanging open
  • All those times Sirius beat him in duelling club
  • All those times no one could land a single curse on him…
  • Remus stutters, scrambling for words
  • “You cheat!”
  • Sirius’s bark like laugh is almost loud enough to wake the Gryffindors sleeping upstairs
  •  But it fades quickly
  • "Yeah, I suppose I am.” He says
  • Remus shakes his head
  • “And that time your cousin tried to hex you…"
  • A smile curves both boys’ lips
  • "The whole family is trying to destroy me.” Sirius says
  • “…and their own heirloom is bouncing the curses back."
  • Remus looks stunned for a moment longer, before he breaks out into laughing fit that almost wakes the whole of Gryffindor
  • Time passes and Remus keeps Sirius’ secret
  • Until one day they’re pitted against eachother in duelling club
  • And Sirius swaggers right up to him, confident as ever
  • Remus looks into those grey eyes, and extends a hand
  • Sirius shakes it firmly, leaning in
  • "Sure you can handle me, Moony?” He smirks, arching an eyebrow
  • “I can handle you whenever you like, Pads.” Remus murmurs, tugging Sirius’s hand up to his mouth.
  • For a split second he swirls his tongue around the tip of Sirius’s middle finger, before plunging his lips right to the base.
  • The feel of his warm, wet mouth and that tongue flicking back and forth makes Sirius’s eyes flicker shut, if only for the short second the sensation lasts
  • Giggles ripple through the crowd around them, but all Sirius can hear is a thumping heartbeat in his ears
  • And all he can see is Remus’s mischievous grin
  • For a moment the air is thick between them
  • When the two boys part and take their places opposite eachother, Remus flashes a grin.
  • There’s a ring between his teeth.

Request: Can you write a Sirius Black x Reader but the reader is James’ sister and Sirius tries to flirt with the reader and James is all like are you flirting with my sister and Sirius fires back or something?
Warning(s): Bar scenes, drinking, swearing, intense hugging(?), major Sirius feels. Honestly, just look at the title.
Note: This is my first Marauders’ imagine, so feedback is appreciated.

⇢  A Sirius Black x Reader work where the reader is James’ younger twin sister.

Most brothers preferred to keep their social life separate from their siblings’. James Potter was no exception. Which is why, when Lily and Marlene urged you to meet the Marauders at the bar with them, you fervently declined.

“A bar? Filled to the brim with drunkards? James would never let me out of his sight,” you argued, moving away as Marlene approached you with a tube of lipstick. “I’m not going.”

She crossed her arms, her lower lip jutting out. “Please, Y/N.” Marlene gestured at your attire: Black hot pants and a long sleeved crop top. “You’re already dressed for it.”

You glared down at your outfit, tugging at the hem of your shorts. “I didn’t know you guys chose clothes for me to wear to a bar.”

“What did you think? Your arse is hanging out for tea with the Minister of Magic?”

Lily gave Marlene a warning look as you flushed a bright red. “Don’t listen to her, Y/N. Your arse is not hanging out.” She paused, giving you a once over. “Well…You’ll blend in, at least.”

You groaned, pinching the bridge of your nose. “James is going to kill me.”

“So what?” Marlene interjected. “He’s your brother, not your dad. Who cares what he thinks?”

I do; he’s my brother.”

A slight snort came out from Lily. “Marlene is right. You’re your own woman. You shouldn’t let the opinion of that arrogant toerag dictate your decisions.”

You and Marlene exchange glances. It was quite obvious that, over the years, James’ crush was becoming less unrequited. And although it was disturbing at first, you quickly accepted the idea that one of your best friends fancied your brother.

“You mean that arrogant toerag you so happen to like?” you said, raising an eyebrow.

Lily raised hers back defiantly. “I don’t like James Potter.”

“Yeah, right,” Marlene scoffed. “That’s like saying Y/N doesn’t have the hots Sirius Black.”

You frowned, ignoring the slight amount of heat rising to your cheeks. “But I don’t.”

Now it was Lily and Marlene who gave each other incredulous looks. It was clear neither of them believed your poorly concealed lie. They knew, no matter how much you denied it, that you had developed a crush on Sirius the moment he gave you a bundle of white flowers for Christmas. Just the thought of his hand brushing against your cheek as he tucked a single flower behind your ear made your butterflies come alive.

“Let’s pretend, for now, that we believe you.” Marlene checked the time. “But in this moment, I hear the firewhisky calling my name. Are you coming?”

“Sirius will be there,” Lily sang.

You threw your head back defeat. “Fine.” You paused. “But not because I want to see Sirius.”

Okay but hear me out

Professor Mcgonagall and Teddy Lupin

Harry, Ginny, Hermione, Ron and basically everyone being super busy one day so there’s no one to take care of 2 year old Teddy.
”All right Potter,” Mcgonagall says, popping up in the middle of his living room. “I will watch over him. Go and do whatever you have to do.”
Teddy Lupin sitting in the Headmistress’ office, crying because he misses Harry and Ginny.
Mcgonagall transforming into a cat to comfort the boy.
By the time Harry comes to pick him up, he’s curled up next to Mcgonagall, fast asleep.
After that, whenever the Potters are busy, Harry sends Teddy to “Aunt Micky” to play
Mcgonagall practically beaming as an eleven year old Teddy Lupin is called up to be sorted by the Sorting Hat.
An eleven year old Teddy Lupin watching his Aunty Micky in awe as she addresses the entire student body.
Teddy Lupin popping into the headmistress’ office because he feels like he’s failing potions.
Mcgonagall calling up Professor Longbottom to her office and the three of them having tea together.
Neville comforting Teddy and explaining that he himself was never good at Potions and it would take some practice, but he would get it eventually.
A fourteen year old Teddy Lupin being sent into the headmistress’ office for hexing a Ravenclaw boy who was insulting Bill Weasley.
“But professor, he had it coming of course. He was saying all those horrible things directly to Victoire’s face. Of course I had to do something.”
Mcgonagall taking 20 points from Hufflepuff, but letting him off with a warning. “And please, fix Mr. Flint’s face as well. It would do no good for him to walk the grounds looking like that.”
Mcgonagall warning all students with a special announcement at dinner that no one was to leave the castle because of some unknown dangers lurking in the Forbidden Forest.
Sixteen year old Teddy Lupin sneaking into the Forbidden Forest past curfew with a couple of Slytherin and Gryffindor friends.
Teddy Lupin being hauled by Filch to the headmistress’ office at 2 in the morning.
Teddy Lupin standing in front of the headmistress’ desk, his head hung slightly as his friends tried to come up with excuses.
Teddy standing with his arms folded over his chest, his eyes focused on the floor, refusing to meet her gaze.
Mcgonagall ushering the other students out of her office, then taking a seat at her desk.
Mcgonagall waiting for Teddy to sit down by himself.
Teddy Lupin feeling like the worst person ever for betraying his Aunt Micky like that.
Teddy Lupin opening his mouth to form some sort of apology but is interrupted.
“What you have done tonight reminds me of a group of students that attended Hogwarts years ago.”
Teddy looking up at her for the first time all night. He did not expect her to say anything like that.
“Yes, these four students seemed to get into trouble every single day. It is quite possible that they hold the record for the most detentions in a single year.”
Teddy Lupin not understanding why she’s telling him this.
Minerva Mcgonagall looking at him with a piercing gaze before continuing. “Despite all of this trouble, these four boys were absolutely amazing. They were amazing wizards, far more talented than most of the students in their year. And I loved them as if they were my own sons.”
“Professor I still don’t–”
“Would you like to see what kinds of trouble they would get into?”
“I don’t understand Professor.”
Mcgonagall taking a deep breath before answering. “I trust Potter has shown you his memories of your father.”
Teddy Lupin nodding slowly, still unsure as to what was happening.
Minerva Mcgonagall bringing Teddy Lupin to the Pensieve and showing him, for the first time, who Remus Lupin truly was.
Harry Potter knew the Remus who had been hurt and affected by the First War. He knew all of the pain and suffering that was felt during this time.
Minerva McGonagall knew the Remus Lupin before the war. She watched the social outcast find a family. She watched him grow. She saw him let his walls down and become more carefree. She stood by as he broke the rules and learned from his mistakes. She knew the real Remus Lupin.
Teddy Lupin not being able to handle all of the memories at once.
Teddy Lupin coming back three times a week to learn new things about his father, and even a few about his mother.
Teddy Lupin, for the first time ever, truly understanding the sacrifice his father made so that he could live in a better world.

sirius black is 145 days older than james potter and don’t think for a moment that he didn’t hold that over his head

sirius, inspecting his facial hair: don’t worry, prongs. you’re bound to hit puberty soon, i’m sure of it.

respect your elders, prongs: dumbledore, mcgonagall, your mother, me.

what’s that? i’ve got a watch from your parents before you? 144 more days, prongs. hang in there.

age before beauty, prongs. no wait, i’ve got that, too.

as the fairest, tallest, and oldest marauder present, you ought to listen to me.

to lily, when she turns 20: i can’t believe you’re married to a teenager.

how am i one-hundred and forty five days older than you, and i look so young? one of life’s mysteries, i suppose.

to a hungover james: when you’re older, you’ll be able to hold your liquor properly, young buck.

“I want you to listen to me very carefully, Harry. You’re not a bad person. You’re a very good person, who bad things have happened to. Besides, the world isn’t split into good people and Death Eaters.”

what they saw in the mirror of erised
  • james : himself, old but still healthy, surrounded by his children and lily at his side, laughing. the marauders are here laughing too, sirius ruffling his hair and probably making fun of them. everyone has a large smile and feel close.
  • remus : himself, but his scars are gone. his clothes are tidy and look new, his prefect badge still on his robes. sirius is holding his hand and they are staring lovingly at each other
  • sirius : the marauders all together, chatting and laughing. they are all happy, the heaviness of the war and their trials is gone. they are who they are supposed to be, carefree teenagers with nothing to worry about except but their exams and homeworks
  • peter : himself, but not quite. he's taller, and thiner, a bit athletic. he seems more confident too, and is it a hickey on his neck ?
  • regulus : his whole family, including sirius, is here, but they aren't fighting. in fact, they seem to be talking and enjoying to be together. he notices there is nothing on anyone's forearm
  • none of these ever became true

Request: Hey, I just love your imagines and could I request about a Sirius imagine where the two of them have been the closest of friends for years and Sirius loves her so one day he’s like “Fuck it” and runs over to her and kisses her and when they finally pull apart she goes “what took you so long?” THANK YOU SO MUCH (sorry this was so specific) 😍😍😍😍😂

“Budge over,” Y/N gave Sirius a gentle nudge as she tried to sit down next to him in the common room. “But I’m so comfortable,” Sirius smirked, stretching out even further across the couch. “Sirius,” Y/N whined. She tried to shove him to one side of the couch, but he wouldn’t budge. “Fine,” she sighed dramatically before throwing herself into his lap and obnoxiously sprawling out on top of him. “Fine,” He laughed, not bothering to try to move her. “Are you going to move now?” She asked him triumphantly. “Mm, nope. Don’t think so,” he shrugged. “Okay, I tried,” Y/N sighed, moving to stand up, but Sirius wrapped his arms and legs around her so she couldn’t move. “No! Spend time with me!” He shouted, burying his face into her neck. “Then move!” She laughed, trying to squirm out of his grip. “But you’re so warm,” he whined, holding onto her tighter. “You are a pain, Sirius,” She shook her head with a laugh, but nonetheless stopped trying to escape his strong grip. “If you’re going to hold me captive here, can I at least get comfortable?” Y/N asked after a few minutes of silence. “I am not holding you captive, you love this,” Sirius corrected her. “But, yes. C'mhere,” He let go of her for only a second as she got comfortable on the couch, and began to reach for a book out of her bag on the floor.

“Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N don’t you dare reach for that horrid book,” Sirius warned. “You don’t even know what book it is!” Y/N protested. “I know that it is going to take your attention away from me, therefore it is horrid,” Sirius stated, matter-of-factly. “You’re so needy,” Y/N laughed, ruffling his hair. “Oi! Be careful with m'hair!” He whined, but made no effort to stop her from continuing to run her fingers through his locks. “Sirius, your hair is a mess. I couldn’t possibly do anything to mess it up,” she told him. “I like it messy,” Sirius pouted. “I’m making a statement,” he declared, causing the girl to laugh. “Yeah, okay. Whatever you say, buddy,” she laughed, patting his head before continuing to play with his hair. “Feels nice,” he admitted with a content sigh after a few minutes of more silence. Y/N nudged her nose against his head and hummed in acknowledgement. “Sleepy?” He asked her. “Little bit,” she admitted with a small nod. Sirius began to draw patterns on her arm with his fingers.

“For the record, I could have been reading this whole time,” she said sleepily after a few more minutes of silence. “No, you’re spending time with me,” Sirius pouted. “We aren’t even talking,” Y/N laughed. “We’re bonding!” Sirius cried dramatically. Y/N laughed and shook her head, but she snuggled into him, losing the energy to do anything but take a nap.

“Sirius!” A high pitched squeal woke Y/N from her peaceful nap.
