it was fine when i saved it

What happens when I see a “Open Commission” post

Me: *Sees commission post* *Eyes widen as I slowly reach into my wallet*

Brain: Uh, Jay? What are you doing?

Me: Commission!

Brain: No, Jay, we’ve talked about this. You’re in school, you have debt, you can’t afford commissions without being more in debt.

Me: But…commissions…

Brain: If you save your money you can buy a single, cheap, piece.

Me: But the artist is open NOW and if I don’t help them then who will!?

Brain: They’ll be fine just be patient…

Me: Yeah, I guess…

[literally the next second]

Me: BUY IT!

Brain: Damn it Jay, NO!

Our story #1

She said she’s got me

She’s got me when my heart bleeds

When my tears run

And my fears speak

She said “baby talk to me”

But I cant speak

Cuz I cant breathe.

God save me

From me and me alone

Throw stones

Break my bones

Feeling all alone.

Im leaving scars on top of scars

Marks on top of marks

Tears drowning out tears

Plucking out my hairs.

Sick of the pills

Sick of the lies

Try to convince my self that the lies are fine

Self destruct

I dont trust

No one

Not even myself.

Full of shit pricks

That chip chipped

But I don’t give a shit shit -

Anymore.

One step forward

And 10 steps back

Wishing for a heart attack -

So I dont have to live in self hate

Open up the gate

To the place where I belong

Hell is home.

Running in rage

Right to my grave

Spilling these words

It’s the only spilling that works.

Sip sip on poison

You can’t give give

me a reason to stay.

Let my heart skip skip

Several beats

Survived several bleeds

Been on my knees

Begging please

Take me now

Or I’ll take my plea

Guilty!

Head loss

Vision fogged

Thoughts blocked

Can you help me.

Full stop

No question mark

Rhetorical question

Cuz I know you can’t.

Lost control

But all I know

Is that my humming bird has got me.

Full on collision

Crashed in to my reflection

Brittle

Broken

Barely living.

But she says “baby I got you”

Words I didnt know that I’ve been longing to hear.

Clear clear my thoughts.

My healer got me healing

Feeling -

Loved

Bleeding -

Blood

I’m - fiending for love

Unfolding my self like a scrunched up piece of paper being unravelled

Imperfection

Bumpy gravel

But I’m learning to walk again.

  • PEPPER
  • AFTER CREDIT SCENE Vulture is either protecting Peter bc he saved his life or he wants to kill Peter himself

come yell at me about any and all of this please

You know, for all I really love the episode “Crystal Venom” I can’t help but see how rough it was on Lance. And he doesn’t hide it, not one bit. It starts with getting locked in the healing pod, he obviously isn’t very thrilled about that. But we get to see how much it really affected him once he gets out of it:

He’s on an alien ship with fancy advanced tech that just froze him and locked him away. And he’s Lance, he can roll with the punches, but that’s a little much. He’s fine as long as Coran talks to him, but as soon as he leaves he just-

-and runs. He’s still hugging himself when he walks along the halls of the castle before the lights go out:

And I don’t even need to provide screenshots from how freaked out he was when that happens, we all remember that. But while he’s screaming for help there are moments where he looks positively defeated - he genuinely thought he was going to die there:

Once Keith saved him, he just sits like that for a while:

Close to the ground where the wind can’t reach him, legs still in position to run away. Just looking at that I can feel how shaky and weak he must be feeling. And once he meets Pidge and Hunk, he actually legitimately gets angry at them for “floating around” while the castle was trying to kill him. He’s agitated, he’s shaken up, he is fucking done with everything:

But the most important part is probably when they run to Allura after the alarm has sounded. He has reached his limit, he is done, he can’t deal with even more weird stuff that’s trying to kill him. As soon as he catches sight of a pretty much sleepwalking Allura, he hangs back:

No more. Lance loves his friends, he has proven in the exact same episode still that he would run down a haunted hall to save Coran - but that turned out to be a trap, so he’s not taking any chances anymore. He is scared enough that he doesn’t join the other paladins in running forward to help Allura. And once he finally tentatively catches up-

-he’s still in the very back, body turned away, ready to run. Just. I hope he got a lot of sleep after this episode was over, he deserves the rest more than anyone D:

Ramen hacks 101

Hey does anyone else have a lot of trouble getting out of bed and feeding themselves sometimes? Yeah me too. BUT I’ve basically gotten the cheap, easy, fast ramen thing down to a T by this point and thought I’d share it with you guys. It can be made very easily for any type of diet, including gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian.

Time: Will vary depending on your ingredients, but at minimum it’ll take about 5-10 minutes.

For just a soup base+noodles, you will need:

  • A package of cheap-ass ramen noodles - throw away the seasoning packet or save it to use with something else. Buy in bulk if you don’t want to go to the store every time you want noodles. If you’re gluten-free, get rice noodles or another gluten-free option.
  • Miso paste - I got mine for about $3, and it lasts for a very long time in the fridge. Pro tip: it’s cheaper at an Asian grocery store or market if you have access to one.
  • Stock cube/paste - around $2 at my local grocery store. I went for low-sodium chicken stock cubes, but you use your preferred type.
  • Water - about 2-3 cups for one portion depending on how big your bowl is. Remember, if you’re adding in extras, the liquid level will rise. I’ve made that mistake way too many times.

If you want extras, some good options to mix and match at your preference/budget/convenience are

Vegetables:

  • Bean sprouts - super cheap at the grocery store. Just throw a handful in and call it a day. I like mine to still be a little crunchy so I do it in the last 2 minutes of cooking.
  • Snow peas - ditto to the bean sprouts. Extras can be frozen.
  • Onion - I typically use half or a quarter of a white onion cut into thin slices, and tossed in the broth asap because I like it a bit more tender. Freeze the rest if you’re not going to be using it within the next few days.
  • Green onion/scallions - 1-2 will be good for one portion. Slice in thin disks, or on an angle if you’re fancy. Also you can use both the tops (green) and the bottoms (white), but that’s to your preference. I typically use these as a garnish, but you can add them in whenever you’d like.
  • Bok/pak choi - one of my favorite vegetables in the entire world. It can be found in most grocery stores nowadays, but is much cheaper at an Asian market if you have access to one. Cut off the very bottom part and then cut the pieces in half length-wise. Throw them in at the beginning if you like them softer, or in the last 3 minutes if you still want them a bit crunchy.
  • Spinach - just chuck in a handful whenever. Spinach can also be used frozen and is often cheaper to either buy it already frozen, or buy fresh in bulk and store it in your freezer to have forever. Get those vitamins!
  • Shredded carrot - you may not have the time/energy to shred carrots. Buy the pre-shredded kind and freeze whatever you have left over.
  • Corn - use frozen.
  • Mushrooms - slice thinly or buy pre-sliced. Add to broth toward the beginning.

Protein:

  • Tofu - silken tofu is usually the best option for this, but use whatever it is you have/can afford. Cut into small cubes and add whenever you’d like.
  • Soft-boiled egg - how to boil an egg or whatever your favorite method is.
  • Chicken - use leftover cooked chicken to add to your soup or slice a raw chicken breast thinly and poach it at a gentle simmer in the broth for 7-10 minutes or until it is white and opaque. It does take a little extra time, but you don’t actually have to do anything while it cooks and this will add extra flavor. Pre-marinated chicken is good for this as well (look for “Asian” flavors like soy, sesame, ginger, garlic, chili, etc.). Again, more expensive or time-consuming if you’re marinating it yourself, but it’s up to you.
  • Shrimp - use pre-cooked frozen shrimp to save time and just dump in a handful. Buy the frozen stuff in bulk. Or, like with the chicken, poach raw shrimp in the broth until they are pink and opaque.

Additional flavorings:

  • Garlic - either use a garlic crusher if you have it or just toss in thin slices into the pan with a little bit of veg or sesame oil for about 2 minutes, before you add your liquid. I buy pre-crushed frozen garlic that comes in little cubes and just pop them straight into whatever I’m cooking. There’s also that pre-crushed/chopped garlic in a paste or little jars. The pre-prepared stuff is more expensive than just buying bulbs of garlic BUT it will last you a while and saves a lot of time and energy.
  • Ginger - same as the garlic.
  • Chilis - chopped into thin disks. Take out the seeds and white part inside the chili if you don’t like it too spicy. Add as a garnish or into the broth if you like it a little spicier.
  • Hot sauce - use your favorite brand.
  • Chili oil - I got mine for about $1.50 and it’s a must-have for me in my soup. I drizzle a couple teaspoons on top when my soup is all done.
  • Soy sauce - light or dark soy is fine. Add as much or as little as you like.
  • Sesame oil - this is quite strong, so a little goes a long way. Use about a teaspoon.
  • Fish sauce, oyster sauce, rice wine/mirin/sake - these are great flavors but may be a bit harder to find and tend to be a little more expensive. Use about 1-2 teaspoons if you have it.
  • Cilantro - throw the stalks into your broth and strain them out afterward or just use the leaves as a garnish.
  • Lemon or lime - a squeeze to taste.
  • Sesame seeds - sprinkle on top.

Like I said, all the above ingredients are simply suggestions. It’s up to you to decide what you want, what you have the time and energy for, and what you can afford. This is just to show you the range of options.

Method:

  1. Prep whatever ingredients you’re using (slice/chop/take out of freezer). If you’re not using any, just go to step 2.
  2. Bring 2-3 cups of water to a boil. If you have an electric kettle, this will make the process much quicker.
  3. Add in your stock cube and miso paste and cook for about 2 minutes until they dissolve. You may want to stir a couple times just to help it along.
  4. Add in whatever vegetables/protein/additional flavorings above suit your fancy and cook to your liking.
  5. Add noodles and cook for 3 minutes.
  6. Put food in bowl. Don’t worry about making it pretty. Garnish as you like.
  7. Put food in mouth.

Done!

Put any leftover soup you may have into a tupperware or thermos and take it to work/school the next day. Or save it for 3-4 days in the fridge and heat it up when you’re hungry.

Another pro tip: you can make the soup base in bulk and freeze whatever you don’t use. when you want soup but don’t want to go through the whole process again, stick the frozen soup in the microwave/melt in a pot on the stove, bring to a boil, add in your noodles/extras and you’re good to go.

Enjoy!

First avengers fic please be nice

“Y/n can you come here please?” Natasha called from somewhere on this floor.

Where on this floor was a completely different matter.

“Where is ‘here’, Nat?” I called back, standing from my bedroom floor.

“My room,” she shouted. “I need your help with something,”

I stepped out of my room into the dark hallway, and stealthily made my way to Natasha’s room. just casually using my shadow abilities to blend in with the darkness and travel through the shadows to get to Natasha’s room faster.

“What do you need?” I leant on her door frame after stepping out of the shadows and watched as she awkwardly tried to assemble a step under her light. “What are you doing?”

“I’m trying to change the light bulb but someone’s taken the ladder and I’m small,” she huffed as she stacked another book onto the pile of crap in the middle of her room.

I felt someone walked behind me and saw Bucky and Steve headed down the hallway. I caught Steve by the arm, making him stop.

“Y’know Nat,” I said, dragging Steve into the room. “I can’t help you change your light, but the Star Spangled Man With A Plan Sure Can,”

I smiled like a goofus as they both stared at me and Bucky snorted before continuing down the hall giggling to himself.

“You’re so proud of your shitty jokes aren’t you?” Natasha laughed finally.

“Actually I’m just proud of getting that whole sentence out without fucking it up,” I grinned before skipping out of the room. and back into the darkness.

“You guys swear so much,” I heard Steve mutter.

The following night we’d all settled in the huge living room to hang out and watch a movie.

I couldn’t remember the name of the movie but it had dragons which was cool.

“Hey Tony,” I called across the room.

“Yeah?” he said through a mouthful of popcorn.

“Can you get a tanning bed for the tower?” I asked.

Natasha laughed and Sam choked on his drink at the randomness of my question.

“Y/n we go outside daily what the hell for?” Tony chuckled at me.

“I wanna force Steve into it so I can called him The Star Spangle Man With A Tan,” I said plainly, succeeding in holding in my laughter.

Clint clearly wasn’t trying as hard as me as he burst into a fit of giggles on the couch.

Bucky laughed and muttered something that sounded like “eat it Steve” But I couldn’t be sure.

Steve just shook his head turned the volume on the movie up.

The next day we went on a mission was the best I’d ever been on because Steve just kept finding himself in positions where I could take the piss.

The first was in the gym that morning we were working on an agility warm up game and Steve was explaining what he wanted us to do.

“First you’re going to run the beam while dodging swinging punching bags,” He pointed to one end of the room where that course was set up. “Then you have to make it over the sponge pit via the money bars and avoid being hit with a dodge ball, and then you will climb over the A frame, rescue the ‘civilian’ and carry them back down to safety all the while being attacked by ‘Villains’”

“What’s the catch?” I crossed my arms as I looked at the very easy course.

“You have to make it from here,” he gesture to the start of the track, and still keeping his first arm up he pointed to the end with the other. “To there in 30 seconds or less,”

I noticed he still had his arms both out pointing at each end of the course.

I nudged Natasha in the arm and chuckled.

“Star Spangled Man With A Wide Arm Span” I stifled my laugh through one hand while pointing at Steve with the other.

“Y/n your time limit is now 20 seconds,” Steve huffed before hitting the buzzer and Clint began running the course.

The Second time was when we were first out on our mission and some bad guys were fuckin shit up down-town with alien weapons.

A woman was cornered between some cars that had collided and a man with a very strange looking gun that blasted purple plasma rays.

I sank down into the shadow cast by the building I stood behind and traveled to the shadow under the cars behind the the man with the plasma gun.

Sliding out from under the car I kicked my leg out and brought him to the ground, elbowed him in the nose and took his gun.

While he lay squirming in pain on the ground I took the womans hand and began running as fast as I could drag her away from the man. Tossing the gun up to one of Tony’s uninhabited suits.

“Cap where are you?” I shouted into the coms.

“Be by your side in a second,” his voice rang in my ear. “Don’t move,”

I stopped running and withing second Steve landed on the hood of one of the bad guys cars right next to me and the woman, holding a couple more of the alien guns.

“Give me the guns,” I said. “I’ll take them to the suits,”

He tossed the guns to me and I squealed.

“DON’T THROW A PLASMA RAY AT SOMEONE YOU DOLT!” I shouted.

I secured my grip on the guns and turned to the woman.

“Hi are you okay?” I asked her. “I’m Shadow what’s your name?”

“I’m fine,” she said breathless, clearly ecstatic that she’d been saved by the avengers. “My name is Anne,”

“Ugh YES” I was suddenly so very happy.

The woman looked very confused.

“Star Spangled Man, Look After Anne,” I shouted as I shoved the woman into Caps arms and dove into another shadow before he could retaliate.

The last was when he was chasing a bad guy and was thrown back through the window of a bakery.

I fly kicked the bad guy into the wall and he slumped to the ground out cold.

“Cap you okay?” I called as I climbed through the shattered window frame to see a few customers helping him stand.

The owner of the bakery came around the counter with a pastry dish in her hands and gave it to me.

I mean we just smashed through the wall of her shop surely it’s not a thank you?

Cap and I exited the bakery and were met by Hawkeye and Black Widow looking at us.

“Whatcha got there?” Clint eyed the pastry dish in my hands.

It was now that I realised what it was. Immediately I handed it to Steve.

“The Star Spangled Man With A Fruit Flan,” I put my hands on my hips and grinned proudly so wide my eyes were squinted shut.

My happy streak didn’t last very long because something impacted with the top of my head and I was suddenly very cold.

And sticky.

I opened my eyes and wiped custard out of my eyes.

“Did you just dump a perfectly good fruit flan on my head?” I turned and growled at Steve.

“Dude we could’ve eaten that,” Clint whined.

Steve just smiled with pride that could have mirrored my own.

For the next week or so there was no joke I could have used at the right time so I just had to wait for the right opportunity.

One finally came along.

Cap and Black Widow were sent on a small mission and I was bored so I followed them in the shadows.

During a scuffle between Cap and one of the targets, Cap was thrown from a 2 story roof and smashed into the roof of a parked (and thankfully empty) minivan.

I immediately pulled out my phone and snapped an unflattering photo of the scene and sank back into the shadows and portalled home.

I sat waiting for their return in the living room ready to project my photo onto the largest screen in the room. As soon as the walked in I called all the other to join me.

“Guys, guys,” I was shaking with excitement.

“oh god what did you do?” Bucky sighed with a laugh as I hopped back and forth from one foot to the other.

“I snapped a really awesome photo,” I half squealed.

I clicked the button that projected what was on my phone to the tv screen and held my hands out in a presenting manner.

“Ta-daaa!” I smiled and looked around the room at the confused faces of my team.

“What exactly am I looking at?” Tony asked.

“It’s The Star Spangled Man In A Minivan,” I yelled happily.

“How did you even get that picture?” Steve looked astonished. “Did you follow us?”

“No that would be creepy,” I giggled before sinking into the shadow in the floor and traveling into the hallway.

“I don’t think anything will ever be as creepy as seeing a smiling chick sink into the floor,” I heard Clint shiver.

I woke up a few days later to F.R.I.D.A.Y telling my that I’d overslept and breakfast was being made in the kitchen where the others had already gathered.

I shot out of bed and ran out of my room, very annoyed at the well lit rooms and hallways that I could’t shadow travel through.

“Please be Steve, please be Steve,” I chanted to myself as I sprinted down the hallway and jogged on the spot in the elevator to the recreation floor.

I got a number of odd looks from the team who were all assembled around the breakfast table when I burst into the kitchen very short of breath.

Much to my joy, I was greeted by the beautiful sight of Steve frying bacon and eggs on the electric stove.

I failed to control my laboured breathing and huffed my way to the island bench, awkwardly posing on the edge of the counter with a smug grin.

“Y/n please don-” Steve looked so done but I cut him off.

“Star Spangled Man With A Pan,” I wheezed with a proud smile.

“Damnit!” Clint beat his fist down on the table, startling most of the team. “I’ve been trying to thinkof one for ages I can’t be;live I missed that,”

“Get your own joke Katniss,” I giggled, siting on the bar stool and winking at Steve.

“You’re not getting any bacon,” he grumbled and plated some for everyone but me.

Twenty things I’ve learned in Twenty Years

1. Life will break you down until you’re crawling on your hands and knees, until you feel like you are Atlas holding the world upon your shoulders, until you feel like the raging inferno inside of your chest is going to combust. These are the moments that will forge you in a fire and make you more unbreakable than diamonds.

2. We are made of stardust, at least that’s what they say. I remember someone told me that every atom in my body once belonged to a star that exploded. At night I stare at my hands and wonder when I will erupt. I know now that I cannot trust anyone else to keep me whole in the darkest hours of the night but my own two star infused arms.

3. You will fall in love, and that is okay. Sometimes we need to fall in love to remember that there is good out there. Fall in love with the boy who opens the door for you, fall in love with your boss who works too hard, fall in love with the woman who hands out roses on that one street corner, fall in love with yourself.

4. They weren’t lying when they said we accept the love we think we deserve. I grew up being told I was a mistake and so I adopted the idea that no one could ever love a mistake. I was wrong (they were wrong) and now it’s up to me to prove them wrong. Don’t believe the things they said, you are so much more than the toxins they tried to poison you with.

5. Close your eyes, count to ten, and open them again. You are not alone. I know it may feel like you are the only one, but believe me when I say that you aren’t. I was where you are, and now I have talked to more people that have been through much worse than I than I would like to admit to. You are never alone, not really.

6. Music can save. Play it as loud as you can with the windows down as you drive (probably a little too fast). Play it while you are at work and while you are in the shower and play it when you want to give up in the middle of the day and when you want to give up in the middle of the night. Just play the music that tugs at your heartstrings, it may save you.

7. Nothing in life is easy, not really. You will catch a few breaks here and there, but the rest of the time you will find yourself fighting tooth and nail to make it back to the top. Don’t give up, I almost did this year and if I had I wouldn’t be able to witness what the sun looks like shining in her eyes.

8. You will have scars, and that’s fine. We all have them but it’s up to you if you want to hide them or show your battle wounds to the world so they know how strong of a warrior you are, so they know not to fuck with you.

9. Watch the sunrise, and watch the sunset. There is something about the sun that screams life; let the light bleed into you and consume you until you shine with it. Sometimes it’s the simple things we are missing in life that we need the most.

10. They will say they love you and then they will turn around and break your heart. You cannot compare your life’s worth to the empty spaces that were once filled around you. People will leave (willing or not) and life will go on. Let life go on.

11. If you are under the impression you are broken, then it is up to you to decide if you are or not. It took me years to admit that I was never quite whole, but when I did it was the most freeing feeling ever. Brokenness does not take away from perfection, and you are the very definition of perfect.

12. It’s okay to let people in, you don’t need to cage yourself away from the rest of the world, don’t forget to live your life while you pursue safeness.

13. Hobbies will save you when all else fails you, find a hobby and stick to it. When the world feels all too loud, a hobby can make you go deaf.

14. The moment you realize Wonder Woman or any other superhero you idolized as a child is not going to swoop down and save you is when your life changes. You have to be your own hero in this world. Stop waiting for someone to save you and go save yourself.

15. They are gone, she took her own life and he died in a car crash and she died from cancer and he left. You cannot live your life counting how many people that held a piece of your heart vanished, I’m not saying to forget about them I’m just saying that it’s okay to say goodbye.

16. It’s okay to cry; cry in the shower and in bed and in your car, being sad is okay as long as you don’t let it consume you.

17. Smile as much as you can even on the bad days.

18. For God’s sake, don’t let them ruin you. You are so strong, you’ve made it this far and that means you can make it another day. If you can get through today you can get through tomorrow and every day that follows. If you feel like you can’t get through the day then sit down and don’t move until the light is peaking in through your window.

19. Never say never. If you think you can’t do something try anyway, this is your life, you are the main character of your own story, but you are also the author of your story. Write it however you want, but don’t give up halfway through.

20. Just don’t take your life. While this is something I learned this year I’m also writing this as a reminder to myself and to you. Don’t do it, please. There can be more to life than what you are feeling right now, don’t rob yourself of the beauty of this world. Don’t give up, no matter how much it hurts.

Hey! Question, so you have a really good understanding of keith and I was wondering if you'd explain how being with the blade is a toxic environmenf? I'm not tryna argue against it I genuinely just don't get it haha

ahh thank you anon!! it’s actually kinda flattering you think i have a good understanding of him sksjsksksm i love my angel..

so, there’s a lot of posts that articulate this better than i can, and i can’t link you right now bc i’m on mobile :( but i’ll give you my short version:

the blade of marmora really emphasizes individual sacrifice for the greater good. this is fine, in theory, but keith has just come from voltron, a team where yes, there is plenty of sacrifice involved, but they care for the other members of their team and would go to rescue them in a heartbeat (this has stuck with Keith— we see this when he saves one of the other blade members last minute) and that’s….not healthy at least for keith?? like, he needs people surrounding him who would love and support him and save him if he was in need (even if he wouldn’t want them to). he needs that tight bond— and the blade of marmora doesn’t provide him with friendship or family. there are no close-knit bonds, little attachments. yes, this is what keith wants, but it’s not what he needs.

keith is pushing his friends away out of fear of being rejected (honestly, he probably felt quite rejected already when they got so angry at him, which is why he made the final decision to join the blade). what he needs to learn is that it’s okay to be vulnerable around people and it’s okay to let people in, to make friends, to have a family

the blade does not and cannot give him that. the blade sees him as completely expendable, because they see all of their members that way. and that’s how keith sees himself. he really doesn’t have a sense of self-worth—at least, not a strong one. sure, he knows who he is, but that doesn’t mean he likes who he is.

the team means everything to keith and we know this. the blade of marmora is him running away to a place that is cold and devoid of love. it’s what keith has known all his life. it’s not what keith needs

keith needs family, and he needs love. the blade is not any of that, and we know this

When Rhys died...

Tarquin: *lunges forward*

Tarquin: I WILL SAVE YOU BECAUSE WE ARE F R I E N D S!!

Tarquin: *throws half of his life force into Rhys*

Tarquin: *performs mouth-to-mouth*

Tarquin: *Frantically blowing into lifeguard whistle*

Tarquin: IT’S UNDER CONTROL EVERYONE, HE’S GONNA BE FINE, STOP CRYING FEYRE, WHO IS SCREAMING?

Helion: You’re the only one screaming…

Tarquin: WAKE UP RHYS IS YOU STAY DEAD I’LL GIVE YOU ANOTHER BLOOD RUBY

It went downhill pretty quickly.

Context: We were fighting a group of goblins, and a goblin boss, with a party of a Dragonborn Fighter, a Dwarf Fighter, a Human Sorcerer, a Wood Elf Druid, and myself as a Dwarf Ranger, all level 1.

Druid: How far away from me?

DM: All the remaining goblins are 10 feet away from your group.

Druid: I run up to the group and cast Thunderwave.

Me: You know you’re going to kill us, right?

Druid: I look back apologetically as I cast the spell.

DM: Ok, everyone roll con saves

All but 2 of the goblins fail, and everyone in the party saves, except for myself.

DM: Roll the damage.

Druid: *rolls 15 on the damage*

Me: I’M DEAD YOU FUCK!

*Once it got to the Dragonborn fighter’s turn*

Dragonborn Fighter: Fuck them all, I’m using my cold breath!

DM: Even though you’ll hit the Druid!

Dragonborn Fighter: EVEN BETTER!

One of the goblins failed it’s save, the goblin boss saved.

DM: Druid roll a con save.

Druid: *Nat 2*

Dragonborn Fighter: *rolls 10 for damage*

DM: Fuck… Orruk (the dwarf fighter), please kill this fucker.

Dwarf Fighter: I think it would be best.

Me: I fucking hate you guys.

A little bit later

DM: You find the gem you were sent into the dungeon to search for.

Dragonborn Fighter: I pick up the gem

DM: Roll constitution, as once you pick up the gem, you are hit with sparks of electricity that shoot through you.

Dragonborn Fighter: *makes save* I want to throw this at the Druid

DM: Fine, roll AC, add strength, no proficiency

Dragonborn Fighter: *Rolls 14, hits the Druid*

DM: When the hell did this turn into a PvP session?!

Me: I don’t even know where to begin.

You and Sam looked around the hallway you were standing in; there was nothing special about it. Just a hallway of what appeared to be an empty factory. Glancing over at Sam, you nodded at each other, silently communicating that you should move.

The two of you were looking for Dean who had been taken by the djinn who fed off of fear. Sam had killed it a day ago but Dean never woke up, which led to where you are now; walking in Dean’s nightmare, trying to find him so that he could wake himself up.

You had just turned the corner when you heard a voice chuckling from what sounded below you. Sam heard it too because he glanced at you before walking to the railing to view what was going on below you.

Your eyes widened as you took in the scene; the dream’s version of you and Sam were each tied to a chair while Dean stood five feet in front of you. A man, a demon with black eyes showing, stood off to the side a few feet away.

“The hell?” You heard Sam say next to you.

“What is going-” You began but stopped when you heard the demon begin to speak.

“Alright Dean, choose. Do you want to save your brother, the one you raised and spent your entire life looking after.” The demon paused, “Or your little half sister who you didn’t even know about until the apocalypse? Your choice.” He said while handing Dean a gun, “You better choose quickly, otherwise I might just kill them both.”

KIM SEOKJIN
winter swimming | cr.

“I’m going to side with Jungkookie next time you chew him out for being too hard on himself.”

Your voice pulls Seokjin above the waters that engulf his body. He hears you in waves of clarity, every other word drowned beneath the pool water as he completes his butterfly lap. He swims to the edge of the pool where you’re crouched down, a paper bag in one hand, a towel in the other.

He shakes his hair gently and laughs as you flinch away. He’s beautiful like this; in this pool, surrounded by the water he claims saves him, and you argue will swallow him up one day. Maybe you’re right. Maybe he doesn’t care, as long as you keep coming around to warn him.

He sweeps his wet hair back and away from his forehead. “That for me?” He points at the towel.

“No, it’s for the other guy in the pool,” you sit down, criss cross.

“I’m jealous of him then. He’s got a real pretty girl taking care of him.”

He hoists himself out of the water and stands next to you. You were never quite sure whether Jin was made and born to be a swimmer or whether being a swimmer sculpted the body he has. Something like an Adonis; well proportioned limbs beneath layers of muscle and the perfect amount of squish, lovely all the same. He always gives himself credit for that face of his—as he should, you think, it’s a pretty one—but that body.

That body that towers above you as he dries his hair and torso, wraps the towel around his waist and extends an arm.

“No way, this kimchi is mine,” you tell him, moving the brown bag behind your back.

Jin only laughs softly and shakes his head, “No, give me your hand, love. I think it would fit in mine swimmingly, don’t you agree?”

“Seokjin,” you blink, “I’m leaving.”

“Aww, come on that was a good one!”

MIN YOONGI

“Kind of unfair that your boyfriend’s short as a stump, but better than half the team,” a sweaty, unhappy Seungcheol sits next to you.

You only chuckle and watch as Yoongi makes another perfect swish. “He’s persistent.”

“He’s crazy,” Seungcheol counters.

“That too,” you hum, “You chose your fate when you voted him captain.”

You lean back into the bleachers and watch as Yoongi instructs the rest of the team to run play number seventeen again in preparation for their upcoming championship. Seungcheol is mid-sip of his water bottle when Yoongi calls out for him and you see his body visibly choke up.

“Choi, get off your ass, back on the court, and away from my girl.”

You snicker as you watch Seungcheol scurry back onto the court, mumbling something about how Yoongi has it out for him. His presence is soon replaced by that of your blonde haired boyfriend; he places his hands on either side of you, looks down with little beads of sweat on the side of his face, and a slight smirk on his lips.

“Hi,” he sings after a minute of silence. You can’t help but laugh, sweeping his bangs out of eyes before returning the hello.

“You should give Scoups a break, he’s’s tired,” you pout. ”Besides, I thought you wanted me to be friends with your friends.”

Yoongi rolls his eyes. “When I said you should make friends, I meant with Seokjin and Namjoon, not these idiots.”

“Then why’d you invite me to sit in on your practice? Jin and Namjoon are on the swim team.”

“I figured you see me all hot and sweaty, get turned on, and then we’d go home and have great sex.”

He chuckles as you hit his bicep and leans over slightly to kiss your forehead, while mumble about how greasy he is. “Alright, fine, since you care about them so much, how about I end practice early, then you and me can go grab some food?”

“What, no great sex afterwards?”

Yoongi laughs, breathy yet full. “Shutup and get your stuff ready,” he tells you before walking back to center court.

He sure is something else.

JUNG HOSEOK
spring tennis | cr.

“Come on, babe, one more round!”

Of course he’s still jumping off the walls. Only Hoseok could manage to attempt to teach someone how to play tennis in the blazing hot sun for two hours and still have enough energy to run a marathon.

“Hobi, I have a confession to make,” you huff, holding the ridiculously bright tennis ball in your hand, “I only asked you to teach me to play tennis for the aesthetic of the whole thing and because you look good in your uniform. Now can we please go back to your dorm and take a nap?”

Your words paint a heart shaped smile on his lips. He throws his head back with laughter—and suddenly it’s hard to tell whether you’re suffering because of the heat or his beautiful jawline. Probably both.

“You think I look good in my uniform?” He sniggers.

You roll your eyes, “The whole school thinks you look good in your uniform.”

He does though. He manages to not look ridiculous in his neon yellow shirt and matching tennis shoes. His calves are incredible and hidden behind his white shorts are the strongest pair of thighs you’ve ever seen. Somehow he’s pulling off his slightly transparent visor. For some unknown reason the sweatband around his wrist is attractive too. And when he swings on the ball his biceps flex and it’s a sight for sore eyes.

“I didn’t ask about the whole school, I asked you, sunshine.”

“Yes, Hobi, I just said that, stop being greasy,” you pout, “Now can we please get out of this heat?”

He laughs at your pain and if he weren’t so angelic you’d probably have already kneed him in the balls.

It’s too hot for touching but when you feel his arm wrap around your shoulders you don’t push him away. “Alright, let’s go,” he kisses the top of your head and leads you off of the courts.

“For the record, you look really good in your uniform too,” he winks, “That skirt does wonders for your legs, babe.”

You take the racket out his hand and hit him atop his head, “Yah! Jung Hoseok, I told you to stop being greasy!”

KIM NAMJOON
winter swimming | cr.

You make your way around the couch and settle down next to your boyfriend who’s watch the taping of his last swim meet for the tenth time today, at least.

“Only you could set the record for fastest backstroke and still be upset, Joonie.”

Namjoon works harder than anyone you know, whether it be at his school work or training. He’s constantly on the grind to improve himself, push himself to be a little better than he was yesterday. It’s admirable, but he’s also the most self-critical person on the planet.

“He was tailing me, (Y/N). If I had been even one stroke slower, I would have lost.”

“But you weren’t one stroke slower, Joon. You won.”

“But I could have—”

“You could shutup and pay attention to your girlfriend,” you interrupt with a smile. “I made popcorn.”

Namjoon’s eyes soften and a gentle smile graces his lips. You’re an angel in his eyes; why you choose to stick with him and his self-criticism and hectic practice schedules is beyond him. He only knows he’s grateful for it.

“You know I’m not supposed to eat that,” he sighs.

“Popcorn is healthy for you! Jin told me so.”

“Pretty sure you mean pizza, not popcorn.”

“Alright, then let’s go get pizza.”

“Baby, I can’t—”

“Can’t? That doesn’t sound like the attitude of a winner to me,” you pout, and his eyes grow at your use of his own words against him. When he doesn’t say anything, only looks down at your lap and sighs, you reach your free hand to cup his face, gently stroking his cheek with your thumb. “Kim Namjoon, you just broke a regional record that hasn’t been broken in thirty years and you’re telling me you can’t let your girlfriend treat you to a slice of pizza?”

He kisses you with his soft lips and smiles back. “I love you, you know that?”

You peck his lips again and run your hands through his hair, “I know, Joon. But you should love yourself just as much.”

Yeah, he thinks. You’re an angel sent from above. His angel.

“You know, you kind of look like Elsa,” you hum.

“Like, the Disney princess?” he asks, “Why’s that?”

He takes your mitten-clad hands in his and leading you onto the ice. You stumble, but he’s there to catch you. “You know, with the blonde hair and the ice and everything.”

Jimin only smiles and emits a breathy laugh. “Whatever you say, love.”

You’re about to remark on his resemblance to the ice princess again, but Jimin soon starts skating backwards, dragging you along with him by the extension of your hands.

“Wah—Jimin, you said we’d go slow!” You yell and he makes circles around the rink, giggles flying at your distress.

“Going slow is no fun!” He quips, suddenly changing directions. The speed makes his bangs fly over his forehead and cover his eyes—and he really does look like Elsa, you think—or at least you try to think when you’re not thinking about how you’re going to die if he doesn’t stop.

“Jiminie!” you screech, as he comes to a sudden halt, holding you close to his chest. His eye smile is the only thing saving him from a serious beating right now. That and the fact that if he skated away, you couldn’t catch him in your wildest dreams.

“If you’re gonna wear my jersey, you’ve gotta go faster than two inches an hour, babe. I don’t want people thinking I’m in love with a wimp.”

You roll your eyes. “Fine, then I’ll just wear Seokmin’s jersey.”

“Not a chance,” he rolls his eyes back at you.

You take in his wind brushed hair and flushed face. He scrunches his nose slightly, flashing a smile that reaches his eyes. You almost tilt your head wondering if this Park Jimin is the same boy who bodychecked a guy so hard he knocked his tooth out last Tuesday.

“Your nose is red.”

Jimin wraps his arms around your waist and shrugs, “It’s okay. The cold never bothered me anyway.”

No way this could be that same guy.

KIM TAEHYUNG
fall soccer | cr.

“Gross, Tae, get off of me, you’re all sweaty and grassy!” You shove your indeed sweaty and grass-stain infected boyfriend away from you to no avail.

Taehyung only giggles into your ears and hugs you closer. “I thought you said I look hot when I’m sweaty.”

“You look hot, but you smell gross. Tae, come on, this shirt is new.”

“That shirt is mine.”

You feel the heat rise to your face and shove him again. “You can’t even be here it’s a thirty second time out!”

He finally retreats and looks at you with messy hair and a rectangular smile.

“Kim! Get back here!” His coach yells on cue. Taehyung gives him a thumbs up, and you a quick kiss to cheek before running back to his team’s side, yelling about how you jinxed it. Only your Taehyung would think it’s appropriate to run to the sidelines to hug his girlfriend mid-time out.

“You two are gross,” Yoongi comments. Jungkook agrees with him.

“They’re cute, hyung,” Namjoon beams.

The whistle is blown and Taehyung is back in action, weaving the soccer ball between his feet and past the other team. He winks at you when he scores; Yoongi is seconds from barfing up his lunch. You only shake your head and watch ahead.

Tae’s team is quick to jump on him when he scores the winning goal. They carry him off to the sidelines as the game ends and players and spectators alike begin to pack up their belongings. Tae looks at you from across the field, gloriously sweaty and grass-stained, and mouths “now?” to you.

You can only giggle and nod your head. He runs and engulfs you in a warm (and overdramatic, according to Jungkook) hug. He’s spinning you around, his giggles swirling with yours and you feel like you’re floating—all of his sweat and stains forgotten. When you stop, he doesn’t give you time to congratulate him or scold you for messing up your—his—shirt; he kisses you, happily and deeply, grime and all.

Yoongi and Jungkook pretend to vomit in the background, but he doesn’t care. “I love you,” he beams, before kissing you again.

JEON JUNGKOOK
spring baseball | cr.

There are pros and cons to dating a varsity athlete.

The pros include laying underneath your boyfriend as you “help” him do pushups and receiving a kiss each time he leans down; resting your head on said boyfriend’s toned chest; the feeling of his calloused hands ghosting along your sides while you cuddle on his futon; wearing his alternate jersey at games, despite it being too many sizes too big for your smaller frame; and cute picnic dates in the middle of an empty baseball field.

The cons include waking up at five in the morning to attend said picnic date.

“Come on, this is cute!” he exclaims as you take another bite into your breakfast sandwich. He hadn’t even opted for you two to sit in the bleachers—instead, setting up picnic over the pitcher’s mound.

You only stare back at him, thinking about what you wanna do more: kiss him or smack him. It is cute, you reason, so you won’t smack him. It’d be cuter if you didn’t have to wake up at five to do it, so you won’t kiss him either.

In lieu, you give him a soft smile. He sure is precious with that his two-row bunny smile he’s got.

Jungkook breaks your train of thought with a sudden squeal, “Ooh, come here, it’s starting.” He motions for you come over to his side of the small bump. You shuffle over, having given up on keeping your leggings clean, and sit next to him. He takes the blanket he’d kept in his lap and spreads it over your shoulders as he wraps his arms around you. (That’s another pro—those damn arms).

Jungkook points just over the edge of the top of the stadium where the sun can be seen poking out. The sky is a gorgeous yellow-orange hue as the ball of light makes it way high into the sky. You look up at him, smile as warm as the sunlight being cast on the two of you lean slightly to kiss his cheek.

“I guess this is cute,” you lean on his shoulder afterwards (pro number twenty-seven), and wrap your hands around his waist.

“Told you so,” he hums. You smile into his neck, because who would have thought star pitcher of the varsity baseball team, Jeon Jungkook would be into cheesy picnic dates and watching the sunrise?

“You’re cute,” you quip afterwards.

“Are you flirting with me?”

“Jungkook, you’re my boyfriend.”

“How embarrassing.”

Tom Holland x Reader: Apartment

Summary: You and Tom Holland are neighbors in the same apartment complex. You have a crush on him, he has a girlfriend. What could go wrong? You could think of five separate incidents.

Warnings: cursing

Word count: 7,132

No 1: the coffee maker incident (which was all harrison’s fault)

The moment your knuckles leave the door it’s already swinging back, revealing a face flushed with relief. Tom Holland’s eyes flutter closed, leaning his head against the door frame and looking up at you through his lashes with a smile plastered on his face.

“Oh thank god you actually came. You’re good at fixing things, right?” he asked, ushering you into his apartment before hearing your answer. You’re a little reluctant to enter, thinking that you’ll somehow track mud across his pristine white carpet, or smudge a stain on his suede chairs that weren’t in there the last time you’d been over.

“I’m good at putting Ikea furniture together, if that’s what you mean,” you call after him as you hop around on one foot, attempting to slide your boots off without appearing like a fool. You look around once more, taking in the features of Tom’s place.

You can’t say you like what he’s done. There are too many colors; blues and yellows that are too bold, an abundance of throw pillows against a couch that you swear your parents had gushed over in a Rooms-To-Go catalog. None of it looks like him, and you have an inkling as to why, but you keep your mouth shut as you follow the sound of two voices into his kitchen.

“You help me with my T.V all the time. Are you good with stuff like this?” Tom inquires, looking at you over his shoulder. He’s standing in front of something, hunched over the island in the center of the room. On his left, staring at you over his mug, Harrison is sipping away on something.

There’s a smug look in his blue eyes that makes you want to tip his drink onto his shirt, but instead you ignore him, standing on Tom’s right. In front of you is a simple small coffee maker; not a Keurig, but something akin, you could imagine.

“What’s wrong with it?” you question, looking around the top and sides for damage. Tom has his knuckle in his mouth, looking worriedly at the device in front of him. You’ve never seen such an anxious look on his face and it makes your brows crease. “Tom?”

“Hm?” he says, snapping his eyes back to you. The normally sparkling brown hues are muddy, clouded with something you can’t identify. “It’s just… I don’t know what’s wrong with it. I noticed it was out of water and I went to refill it, but when I pressed the button, it wouldn’t make anything.”

Perplexed, you flipped open the lid, seeing nothing wrong. You checked the coffee ground compartment, seeing a pierced, but otherwise unused k-cup sitting in there. With crossed arms, you pressed the power button again, just to be certain.

The three of you watched as the machine’s light started to blink. You cut your eyes over to Tom, wondering what kind of stunt he was pulling. Opening your mouth to speak, you were cut off by the red light blinking out, only for nothing else to happen.

“See!” Tom cried out, fisting his hands in his hair. It curled out of his fist, making two small pony tails at the top of his head. Your eyes narrowed, realizing just how much his hair had grown in the past few months. You hadn’t seen too much of him to have a decent comparison, but you remembered it being much shorter.

“—just wait till she comes home and sees this broken! She’s going to kill me!” Your heart drops into your stomach, limbs suddenly feeling heavy. The coffee maker belonged to his girlfriend. You nodded, now understanding why he had sounded so urgent when he’d called you.

“You’re fucking Spider-Man, ya? Just go out and buy a new one with all that Marvel money,” Harrison pointed out, rolling his eyes as he took another sip of his drink. “She won’t even know the difference.”

“They don’t even make this stupid model anymore, she’s going to know it’s broken. And I didn’t even break it!” he exclaimed, his voice shaking with worry. “What am I going to do?”

“You’re going to calm the hell down, that’s what,” you chided, resting your hands on Tom’s shoulders. He relaxed under your touch, walking backwards as you steered him onto a bar stool. “It’s not the end of the world, dude, just breathe,” you reminded him, watching as his chest heaved heavily. Your hands felt warm as they slid down his arms, coming to rest on the island as you examined the coffee maker.

You drained it of its water, checking the main compartment for any irregularities. Immediately you noted a white film around the sides, and you paused, looking from the sink, to the device, and finally at Harrison.

“Harrison? What are you drinking?” you asked, pulling your phone from your back pocket and shining the flashlight down to the bottom.

“Hot chocolate,” he replied carefully, eyes darting between you and Tom. Peering down, you carefully wiped your finger against the bottom of the compartment, your nails scratching against a hard surface, coated with something.

“Haz, there’s no pot in the sink, or in the dishwasher. What—HAZ!” Tom growled, having put the pieces together. “Did you put milk in the coffee maker?”

“I mean, yeah,” he admitted a not-so-guilty look across his face. “It was sitting right there, and it was faster than heating up a pot.”

“Ah-ha,” you chuckled, closing one eye to look down into the coffee maker. “That would explain this weird shit covering the bottom of this thing.” You gave a pointed look at Harrison, who hadn’t even tried to look remorseful. “You do realize that when you don’t clean up heated milk, it leaves a hard coating on metal. This coffee maker basically has a hot plate that boils the water and then sucks in into a tube. My best guess it that the milk hardened, and the water can’t get through,” you assessed.

“Well how do we fix it?” Tom asked, crossing his arms and looking at you. He seemed to believe you had all the answers, and you bit your lip to hold back you stutters. You didn’t want to disappoint him, to make him think you weren’t the person for the job.

Cutting your eyes over at Harrison, you gave him a pointed look; you made it look reprimanding, but it was really to wipe the smirk off his face. He’d had a smug look since the moment you walked in and it bothered you, making the tips of your ears feel hot.

“Well for starters, don’t do it again,” you bit out, glaring daggers at Harrison. He didn’t reply, but he did walk out of the room, shrugging his shoulders as he walked behind you.

Tom noted the fixed stares you gave him, but said nothing of it. You pursed your lips before looking at the brunette, holding out your hand and asking for a knife.

He blinked, warily pulling out a butter knife and placing it into your palm. You frowned at it, turning it over in your hands. “I need a sharper one.”

Tom raised a brow, hazel eyes glimmering with suspicion. You snorted, wondering if he was actually afraid of you with a knife.

“What, you think I’m going to kill you or something?” You joked. You wondered for a moment if your joke was too dark for a guy who was just your neighbor, but he eventually chuckled, handing you a knife with a sharp, long blade. You gave him your phone, and asked him to shine it down into the machine. Silently, with the two of your heads close together, you both bowed your heads with work to do.

This was an awkward fifteen minutes. Every now and then Tom would pick his eyes up and watch as your face scrunched in concentration. Your lips would part as an almost inaudible curse passed through, making him laugh a bit. Every time you felt him move you would try not to catch his gaze, attempting to discreetly look at him. You could feel how close he was and it felt wrong that your heart was beating so fast, or that you couldn’t breathe.

After what felt like hours, you retracted, taking the machine to the sink to wash it out. You filled it and plugged it back in, waiting patiently with a mug as you started it.

Tom looked as though he was holding a breath, and sure enough, when the coffee streams out he sighed, leaning against the counter with his entire weight, looking as though he’s been saved from the fires of hell.

He turns, eyes shining in praise as he gushed a bunch of rushed thank you’s, his accent slurring everything together. You’re really just nodding and smiling, telling him that it’s fine and no big deal. You’ll tell yourself anything to get rid of the hammering in your chest, louder than construction work as you feel blood rush to your face.

“I seriously don’t know what I’d do without you.” He sounds like he’s speaking about your presence in general, but that can’t be true. All you’ve ever done for him was put together furniture and now fix his coffee maker, but he seems to like you, as a friend and neighbor. Which you’ll take.

“It’s no problem at all Tom. And it’ll be less of a problem if I can have this,” you pull the mug away, bringing the rich black coffee to your lips.

“Yeah, yeah, of course. Do you want to stay for a bit? I feel like you’re always in and out, and-“ his words die as his cell phone rings, the ringtone that default sound that makes you jump. He takes it, holding his hand up apologetically, but you shake your head. You weren’t going to stay anyways.

Grabbing your things, you pass Harrison, who looks pretty comfortable on a couch that isn’t his, sipping on the last of his hot chocolate. He smiles when you walk by, but it’s a knowing one, as though he can read your thoughts. You scoff, but before you can get your shoes back on, Harrison says, “You should be thanking me.”

That really riles you up, and you laugh, a forced, sarcastic thing. “For what?”

“If it wasn’t for me you wouldn’t be making any moves.” There’s a wink, but you don’t really care to return his comment. You strain out a “Bye, Harrison,” before closing the door and leaning your back against it.

The cup in your hand is scorching your palm, but you smile regardless. Another reason to knock on Tom’s door.

No. 2: The incident where you meet his girlfriend and things go wrong

You had this sick feeling in your gut that toady wasn’t the best day to bring back the mug you borrowed from Tom. It was simply the day after, the most reasonable time to drop by and say, “hey, I forgot I took this” without seeming like you harbored it, or cast a spell on it. The little thing sat neatly in your hands, cradled gently as though it was made of crystal.

Your knock was verging on two minutes ago, so you decided to go again, wondering briefly if you should say his name. Calling him may have been a bad idea, but before you could form his name, the door swung back, revealing a brunette that was not Tom.

His girlfriend’s caramel colored hair was a cascade of freshly made curls, evident from the fact that her makeup and outfit were already complete. She lacked shoes, and a sense of hospitality, sizing you up like bully on a playground. When she reached your eyes, you balked, deciding whether it was better to state your purpose, or just drop the item near her feet and scram.

It would have been much easier for her as well, until Tom caught your eyes from farther behind her. “Y/N?” he questioned, but excitedly, as though he was happy to see you. That made his girlfriend’s lip curl into a sneer, an action that didn’t go unnoticed by you.

“Oh, uh,” you started, wanting so bad to bolt, but transfixed by Tom’s smile and gentle demeanor. He was dressed, indicating that he was probably going out. And from the progress they both had on their outfits, you could guess it was possible they were going on a lunch date.

You felt foolish, your heart drooping in your chest as you resigned yourself to stick with the plan. What did you expect, that his girlfriend would just magically be missing every time you came into his apartment? A dumb idea, one fueled by your fluttering heart, but also by your jealous mind.

“I accidentally took this last time I was here. Sorry,” you said, holding the cup out to the girl. She dropped her eyes to the cup, but made no moves to take it from you. Her hands stayed rooted on the door, and you felt like you could melt under her scrutinizing gaze.

Tom saved you, however, taking the cup from your hands with care, wrapping his hand around it. Your hands brushed each other’s, and your fingertips felt so warm and fiery, igniting your nerves in flames. You looked up to send him a smile, but you caught the look his girlfriend gave you.

Her blue eyes startled you, being so wide and so angry at the same time. Her perfect nails seemed to dent into the metal door as she gripped it with all her might. Her posture was rigid, feet set apart in a fighting stance. You thought her unoccupied hand was going to reach out and punch your teeth out.

The silent threat made you jump, the ware slipping from your fingers and smashing to the floor before you had time to react. You could only pull your feet away and watch in horror as it fell on its handle, small shards of grey porcelain scattering across the floor.

You want to cry, curl up beside the shards and be swept away into a dust bin, you’re so mortified. To your right, she’s smiling a little, resting her hand on Tom’s shoulder as she proceeds to ask if he’s okay. She tiptoes to look over his shoulder, as though she wasn’t standing feet away when it happened. Milking the moment, you catch the glint in her eyes when she rubs his back, saying that she’ll get a broom.

Tom nods, saying a faint, “okay babe,” before he’s taken aback by the kiss she plants on his cheek. You note the pink mark it’s left, a small, but powerful reminder that he’s taken, and that no matter how shy and polite and cute and neighborly you are, there’s nothing you can do about it.

She casts a look that is part sinister and part mocking over her shoulder, but it turns into surprise as the door closes, Tom stepping out into the hall. He’s got his hands behind his back as the door clicks shut, leaving the two of you in the hall.

“Sorry about that, I don’t know how that happened.” He rubs the back of his neck now, as if he’s really considering the idea that he might have done this.

“No, you have nothing to be sorry about. I’m the one who broke it, I should be cleaning it up, I,” your head is fixed towards the ground, unable to meet his gaze. You really just want to walk away, but it was hard, with him so close to you, his height and yours almost the same. There’s no need for tilted heads when every time you look up, it’s just his eyes on yours, and it makes you so frustrated.

“I’m really sorry about this, I promise I’ll get you another one.” In some really nice universe, this is the part where Tom chuckles and says “You don’t have to do that. Just go on a date with me and we’re even.”

But this is not a nice universe. It’s not even close. This universe is horrible and cruel, laughing at your pitiful crush on a taken British boy and your shitty attempts at being his friend.

This universe sucks, so you leave him with that half assed promise and run down the stairs, not looking back as he calls your name.

No. 3: the incident where you hear something you shouldn’t have (but always wanted to know)

It’s late, and probably your own fault that you’re miserable and at home and have to watch a fucking slideshow about Roswell, New Mexico. The lights are mostly off in your apartment, save for three little hanging lights above your kitchen counter. One sole bottle of Heineken is untouched, probably warm since your friend left over two hours ago for her date.

And now, with a pounding headache and an impossibly bad mood, you felt your limit snap as loud shouts and a bumping bass sounded from Tom’s apartment. He wasn’t a rowdy guy, and his girlfriend didn’t seem like the type to annoy the neighbors at ten pm, but you could think of a certain blonde that would.

It had been weeks after ‘the breaking of the mug’, weeks of building back the confidence to look Tom in the eyes, and weeks of him being crazy nice to you. He was always asking you to come over, wanting to make up for how bad your last encounter was. Eventually you both settled back into a comfortable friendship, but that only persisted as long as his girlfriend wasn’t around.

After another week of that arrangement, you felt guilty, almost as though you were doing something forbidden. You remembered the shame and palpable tension in the room that occurred every time she came home to find the two (or three, there was no way she could get rid of Harrison) inside. Almost any conversation would drop, and you would leave, giving him a curt goodbye.

It was dumb, it was strenuous and it was so unnecessary. But it felt exciting.

You swallowed that excitement down fast, knowing that there was nothing between you two. You were neighbors, and finally friends; you weren’t going to ruin it because of your unrequited crush on him.

The pounding in your head increased when you heard with clarity and annoyance the repetitive yell of shots. The song seemed to shake your entire apartment and you growled, stomping over and banging on Tom’s door with your fist.

“Hey! It’s a fucking Thursday night!” you yelled, despite your normal timid manner. You seriously just wanted to fall straight asleep and head to work tomorrow and make a final decision on this location. You were losing time and patience and the capacity to care when a face split into a wide grin upon seeing you at the door.

“Hey hey, Y/N!” Harrison’s blue eyes were unfocused and shiny, his smile too big for his face. He stumbled to grab your arm, his grip much tighter as he used all his strength to pull you in.

“Guys, look who I found!” The word “guys” had you at unease, but you surveyed the people around you carefully. You would know the Spider-Man cast anywhere, and Tom’s apartment was definitely a place where you’d seen them the most.

Tony and Jacob both had on tilted ball caps, and when Tony ran to hug you it fell off. “Oh thank god you’re hear Y/N!” he hiccuped, slinging an arm around your shoulder. “Our man Tom has something to tell you.”

The room dissolved into giggles. It sounded like a first grade classroom, their laughter so innocent and playful. The only boy who didn’t seem to be partaking in the fun was Tom, his lips set in a pout as he shoved Jacob weakly.

“Knock it off, boys,” he told them his voice sharp against theirs. He didn’t appear to be as drunk as they were, but the goofy grin that followed proved otherwise.

After another round of laughter, you tried to shrug Tony away from you, but he was heavier without full control over his body. You felt uncomfortable being around four drunk men, who were all stronger than you. Despite knowing that they meant well, the entire situation read badly.

“Tony, please get off me,” you mumbled, which seemed to earn his attention. He stood up straight, raising his arm up mechanically. You took a step back, holding your arms to make yourself small. “Guys, I get that you’re having fun, but I have work to finish, so can you-“

“You’re a location scout, right?” Jacob asks in the moment of lucidity. You nod, watching warily as Jacob stands, holding his hand out to you.

“Jacob Batalon, best actor in this room. If you’re ever in a pinch for actors, you know where to find me.”

“Jacob,” you said slowly, your handshake becoming too long. “We’ve met before.”

“Best actor in the room? Tom has a fucking BAFTA!” Harrison argued over the music, but you both paid no mind to him.

“Uh, I think I’d know if I met anyone as pretty as you. At least, I think you are. I can’t really see, but you’re Y/N, right?”

“Jacob,” you sighed, exasperated. Pinching the bridge of your nose, you were halfway to launching into an explanation before he cut you off.

“Tom’s been going off about this Y/N girl. She lives across the street or something. I’m like, Tom, dude, amigo. How do you know if she’s pretty if she’s all the way over there?” He pointed out the window and you frowned, wondering just what in the world he was on about.

“Jacob I know you! I live next door.” He snapped his fingers loudly, looking back at Tony with wide eyes.

“Tony! It’s the girl, the one Tom mmhmm-“ Harrison covered Jacob’s mouth with his hands, trying to sit him back down. You raised a brow, looking between the four of them before sighing.

“Clearly I’m not getting anything through to you, so I’ll just do it myself.” You huffed, turning to what you believed was the source of the booming music. A stack of black rectangular sound systems sat on a shelf below Tom’s T.V, each of them appearing to be on. In the background, yelling had ensued, with Jacob’s mouth finally free of Harrison’s grip. You paid no mind as you decided to simply turn the volume down. You twisted the dial a little too far, making the music so quiet, that their shouts became clearer.

“Why the hell not! You’re not going to have any other chance!”

“Your girlfriend dumped you, now is the perfect time to tell her!”

“And say what? ‘Hey Y/N, I’ve been in love with you since the day we met’?”

It kept going, not even missing a beat as the four boys started piling shout after shout on top of the others. You, however, had your hands over your mouth, slowly rising to stand up. Your mind tried to process the words in the order you heard them in, making sure it matched what you thought. Your heart felt like it would leap from your chest, knees knocking as you struggled to understand.

Tom liked you. He had since the day you met. And he didn’t plan on telling you.

It was news to you that his girlfriend was no more, but even bigger than that was the idea that each of his friends already knew that he was in love with you. That sentiment seemed like common knowledge, considering its blunt outburst hadn’t shocked anyone to silence.

Suddenly Harrison’s cheeky winks and Tom’s bright smiles seemed more than just coincidences. You wanted to run up to Tom and tell him that you felt the same way, that he meant more to you than just a neighbor or a friend. You felt your heart clench as you realized that those words were never meant to be presented like this. You weren’t supposed to know.

In some nice universe Tom would tell you over another shared mug of coffee, or an a first date somewhere sweet and thoughtful. In some nice universe you could kiss him for saying that, and he’d kiss you back.

But this was not some nice universe, and this shit always happened. You let yourself out, sliding back against the cold metal door and letting out a sob that had been working its way through your chest.

Perhaps that nice universe would only ever be a daydream

No. 4: the incident where the tables have turned

Not but two days after the drunken episode, you walked up the stairs to find Tom, sitting outside his apartment like a lost puppy. He bounced his phone on one knee, the other keeping his forehead up as he scrolled through his phone. After a moment he locked it, turning his head to see you, dazed and confused.

“Y/N!” he exclaimed, his loud voice reminding you of Thursday night, and the deflated way he had yelled your name, saying that he was in love with you. You were starting to believe it; you could see his eyes light up whenever they found you, a small but genuine smile tilting his lips upward. For someone who had just lost a significant other, Tom seemed pretty much in one piece.

Maybe because you were the one seeing him.

Nevertheless, you raised an eyebrow in silent question, to which Tom sheepishly smiled. “I seem to have locked myself out of my own apartment,” he told you, standing up and shoving his hands in his pockets. He was well cleaned up, considering the last time you’d seen him he was smashed beyond compare.

Before you even had the thought of stopping, you blurted, “Doesn’t your girlfriend have a key?”

It was like kicking a puppy; a small, adorable little puppy that only wanted your attention for half a second. The mirth drained out of his face and his eyes quickly dropped to the floor. His hands swung aimlessly by his side. You wanted to take it back, say you were sorry or that you forgot, but you weren’t even supposed to know in the first place.

“Alice and I broke up,” he sighed, and all you could think was ‘So her name was Alice.’

You tried to morph your face into sympathy and surprise, but you weren’t sure how well you pulled it off. “Oh, shit Tom, I’m sorry,” you expressed, wanting to reach out and touch his shoulder, but withholding yourself. Pretending you didn’t know about his feelings for you was so difficult, and you weren’t sure why. It wasn’t like you to be flirty or drop hints, but for some reason that was all you wanted to do: wrap your arms around him, tell him he’d be fine, and remind him that you were next door if he needed you.

In some nice universe that would work, but this wasn’t time or place.

“My spare key is with Harrison, surprise surprise,” Tom joked, which you smiled at.

“You’re never going to see that key again,” you laughed, bringing back a sliver of a smile to the man’s face. He looked better with it, you thought, doing nothing for the butterflies in your stomach. Your laughter calmed down enough for you to shrug. “You can come stay at my place until he gets here, if you don’t have anything to do.”

His eyes widened, but he hid it by raising his left brow. “Are you sure? I don’t want to intrude or anything.”

“Considering it returning the favor. Besides, I’m always in your apartment. We need a change of scenery.” You unlocked your door, coming into your apartment with tense shoulders. Tom had never been in here before, and there was a reason for that. His presence in your apartment would gradually become less and less strange, making him just a part of your home than the couch or the curtains. You didn’t want him to be so familiar that it seemed like he belonged here, because he didn’t. He belonged in his nice white apartment, far away from whatever you had going on here.

There wasn’t much. You weren’t a minimalist, but you preferred less pillows and decorations than actual furniture. The colors were mostly neutral blues and greys, with red here or there. Along the walls were huge posters of cities you’d visited for work. Ashville, Slab City, Roswell, and other obscure towns were littered across your living room, and when you looked back you noticed Tom was staring at all of them.

“You’ve been to all these places?” he inquired, awe lacing his voice. You were shocked by his curiosity, considering he travelled all the time for his job. His face was fixed on the posters, before catching the little framed photos around the bookshelves. “Holy shit, is that you?”

He had the frame in his hand now, and judging from it, you were sure he was indulging himself in staring at a truly mortifying high school photo of yours. “Who are these people?” he pointed, and you grimaced.

“High school friends, if you couldn’t tell by our bad fashion choices,” you groaned, coming up beside him and studying the picture. You were in the middle, as you often were in group photos because everyone was taller than you. It didn’t particularly matter in this instance; you were squatting down, your hands clasped as if in prayer, staring down the camera with a smirk. Above you, four of your friends had lifted up the shortest girl in your group, perching her on their shoulders. It looked like a dysfunctional human pyramid.

“I don’t think I have a picture of me and my mates half as cool as this,” Tom remarked, and you couldn’t help but laugh.

“You think that’s cool? I think we were more crazy than cool,” you spoke wistfully, setting the picture back down. “I’m not even sure why I keep that around. It doesn’t really fit in with this whole thing,” you gestured wildly, pointing at the dozens of colorful photos. Tom’s eyes landed wherever your finger pointed, until the rested back on you.

“Which one of these is your favorite?” he asked, turning in a circle to view every landscape. You put a finger to your lips, eyeing each one carefully, until you landed on one filled with green and purple.

“I took this in Glasgow, about four years ago,” you stated, standing beside a quite large picture of a sprawling field of bluebells. “First time scouting overseas, and a studio needed pictures of old woods to use as concept art. I was with a senior photographer on this one, but he let me take the shots they eventually used.” You glanced up at the photo in reverence, before looking over to Tom.

His face expressed pure adoration, and you found that his eyes rested more so on you than the photo. He seemed to be in a trance, only snapped out of the daze a minute after you’d stopped talking. He tried to shake the grin off, but it was too late. So he went with it, smiling even wider.

“Wow. I’ve been to Scotland before, and I knew it was beautiful. But that?” he threw his hands down and you laughed at his gesture. “I’ve never seen anything like that before.”

“You just have to know where to look. I know I never would have found this place if David wasn’t so familiar with Glasgow,” you told him, heading into the kitchen for drinks. “Next time, take someone who knows what to look for.”

“Maybe I should take you.” It was supposed to be mumbled under his breath, just a wish he kept to himself, but he let his guard down. You heard him, freezing as you stuck your head into the fridge, thanking the heavens that you had a cover for your burning face. You wanted to turn around and tell him yes; absolutely, positively, one-hundred-percent were you on board with going anywhere with him. You wanted to joke that you’d pack your luggage right then and there, that between two seasoned travelers like you, there was sure to be a discount somewhere.

But all you could do was force down the thoughts, grabbing two cokes from the fridge before pressing them to your face. You turned to Tom and smiled, a restrained, glowing thing that startled him, for he hesitantly stepped towards you.

“Maybe you should. Glasgow is one of my favorite places. I’d be happy to show you around.” You hoped you didn’t come off as anything other than friendly, but knowing the situation you were both in, there was no telling his response.

Tom just blinked, his face like a deer in headlights. Suddenly his face was tinted in pick and he smiled, looking down at his shoes bashfully. “I don’t know when we’d ever do it,” he commented, rooting you two back in the reality, the place where you both had jobs to do and obligations to others. But it had been nice, dreaming of Scotland with Tom. Perhaps it would come true.

There was a calm silence that settled in between the conversation, which was ripped away when Tom’s cell rang. He picked it up with reluctance, before making a face at the id. “Haz you better be downstairs or else I’m hanging up.” There was a bit of yelling on the other side, Harrison’s voice distorted by the traffic outside. Tom listened for a moment more before nodded, cutting his eyes over to you.

“Yeah, you can just open yourself, you’re always there anyways,” he quipped, ending the line before sighing. “Sorry, that was Haz, he’s here with my key.” Every word he said sounded breathless, a string of words in an almost incomprehensible British accent and an apology mixed in somewhere. You smiled, before jumping up.

“Oh! Before I forget,” you babbled, reaching into a packed kitchen cabinet for something. You stood on the tips of your toes, reaching for a turned handle before it landed gracefully in your palm. You smiled, handing it over to the dumbfounded man over the counter.

“What’s this?” he asked, turning over the red and blue designed cup. “Is this for me?”

“Yeah! I told you I was going to get you a new mug, I didn’t say what it would look like though.” You bit your lip, wondering if a Spider-Man mug was really the way to go in this situation. In addition to playing the wen head, you knew he had an affinity for the character as well, hoping the combined coincidences would lead him to like it.

He pressed it into his palms, turning it over in the daintiest of ways. He clutched it tight, as though he might break it from just breathing on it. When he picked his head up, you noted the watery glimmer in his brown eyes, which he tried his hardest to blink back. There were so many small things about Tom that made your heart flutter, but you didn’t have time to study them all.

“Thank you,” his small voice took you from your thoughts. “That was really sweet of you. You didn’t have to do this.”

“I wanted to,” you relied firmly, placing a hand on his shoulder. “And I couldn’t live with myself if I never replaced it. Seriously, take it,” you told him, seeing as he was unwilling to leave with it. He stared at it a little while longer before he jolted, a buzzing sounding from his back pocket.

“Harrison’s here, I should, uh,” He stammered out, slowly taking some steps back. You nodded, giving him a slight wave and then headed back to the kitchen. You didn’t look up until you heard the door open, and then click shut, the air in your apartment much colder than it had been.

You stared around, wondering if you could find differences in your home now that Tom had been inside it. Your old theory was clearly correct, because your place had never felt so lonely and empty since you’d moved in. With a frown, you stared at the picture of Glasgow, wondering if in some other time and place, it was taken by you and Tom.

No.5: the incident where everything becomes clear

You actually burst into his apartment, a loud banging noise that sounds like it belongs in a movie. You’re too dramatic, and for reasons only you can understand.

Two heads turn, almost in sync. Blue eyes stare your form up and down, a quirk in his brows, while Tom just screams “Y/N!” It’s more of an exclamation that a question, which prompts Harrison to ask the obvious.

“What are you doing?” It’s so posh coming from him, the accent highlighting the annoyance in his voice. Or maybe it’s confusion, because he seems baffled not only by your presence, but by your urgency.

Tom doesn’t seem to mind. He’s got wide, shining eyes, and a posture that’s halfway out of the chair he was sitting in. He crosses the length between you two in an instant, throwing you off for a second before you regained proper footing.

“What’s wrong?” He questioned, staring you down with those concerned brown hues of his. You wanted to take his face in your hands, and reveal your purpose for being here in the first place.

You were out of breath, from both being so close to him, and from running up three flights of stairs. After getting started on a scouting job earlier this week, you requested half the day off to start finalizing your travel plans. Within the next week you’d be flying into Tokyo and Hong Kong for a few days with Shanghai as a backup plan in case you didn’t get the shots you wanted.

You had been so psyched to start packing and start sharing about your trip, when you came across a moving truck in front of your complex. And lo and behold, you caught the sight of Alice, her arms full of those yellow throw pillows you had seen in his apartment all those weeks ago. Her blue eyes scanned the street until they came to rest on you, shouldering a hand bag that probably cost less than her foundation.

Her eyes turned to steel, lips curved in the most menacing grimace you’d ever seen. Her eyes appeared watery as you came closer, the grimace turning into a full-blown snarl the longer you stayed in her vicinity.

You practcally ran away, heart pounding out of fear. It wasn’t that Alice was mean or nasty towards you; it was that you could understand why she didn’t like you. You didn’t know the specifics of their breakup, but if you could guess, you figured Tom’s affection towards you might have played a factor in it.

The guilt burned your chest, but there was something else there you didn’t understand, something that led you to Tom’s unlocked door. In the awkward silence between you two, you wondered why it was unlocked, and why he didn’t seem to question why you were here. The longer he stared at you, the more your fingers itched, and the more you yearned to touch him.

So you pulled him out of the apartment, his feet tripping over the threshold as the door closed behind him. You caught a glimpse of Harrison’s face, blue eyes shining with mirth before he winked, clicking it shut. Tom turned his head to look back, but you grabbed his cheeks, making him face you.

He opened his mouth to ask something, but the question was caught it his throat. Your lips were suddenly on his, and he shifted closer to you, like it was an instinct. Like he got kissed by breathless girls outside his apartment on a daily basis.

His arms wrapped around your waist, before coiling tightly, his nails digging into your jacket. Your hands left his cheeks, instead falling to the nape of his neck, where you brushed small curls of hair with your knuckles. Everything about kissing Tom felt like fitting into a jigsaw puzzle; you knew exactly where everything went. From your hands to your chest to your lips, every part of you felt in place.

Tom eyes opened as he pulled back, gazing at you like he would a star in the sky. “Why did you do that?” His nearly inaudible voice was shaky, his hands running up and down your sides. He tried to still himself, but you could feel the skittish energy he was trying hard to contain.

You wound your arms around his neck, pressing yourself closer to him. “I don’t actually know,” you told him seriously, a smile in your lips.

He tried to roll his eyes, but he too was smiling at you. “You just did it, because? Just because you could?”

“Because I’ve wanted to for a long time. Because you accidently said last Thursday that you were in love with me. And because I’m in love with you too.”

Tom’s arms dropped and he balked, watching you with a gaping mouth. “You heard that? You heard me say that?” he reiterated, looking you in the eye. When you nodded he groaned, placing his head in his hands. He refused to look at you when you coaxed him out of his shame.

“I can’t believe you knew that,” he muttered, his face turning redder by the second. You tiptoed up and kissed the crown of his head, causing him to peek at you through his fingers.

“I’m sorry you’re embarrassed, but if I didn’t know I’d never have the guts to kiss you,” you compromised, pulling his hands away from his face. “C’mon, this situation isn’t all bad.”

“It’s not bad at all, really,” he sighed, a content smile gracing his lips. “I mean, you did say you were in love with me too, right?”

“Do kisses not mean anything to you Brits? Is that just like, a thing you guys do?” You poked fun at him, earning another small peck on your lips to shut you up. You smiled and laughed, making it messy and causing his lips to end up short squish against your cheek. He rolled with it though, smothering your face with tiny little pecks, squeezing you tight in his arms.

From somewhere in the apartment, Harrison screamed “Finally!”

High Lords at a Water Park

Rhys: The one who gets in trouble for running around, he’s so excited to get from one ride to the next. “Come on, Feyre darling, hurry!” “Rhys, the wait for this one is an hour long, we’re not going to miss anythi–” “HURRY”

Feyre: Being pulled along with Rhys; she likes the rides, but her favorite things are the water slides, she goes down all the time. Wearing an adorable black bikini that she rocks; it made Rhys trip when he first saw it

Helion: Chilling in an inner tube as he goes down the lazy river, he’s sipping a pina colada and reading a book. Someone protests (”Sir, no food or drink in the pool please–”) but they forget what they’re supposed to say when they see Helion’s Thighs™

Kallias: Slathering sunscreen all over his body definitely helping Viviane get all of those hard to reach spots and trying all of the new food (turns out he has an affinity for ice cream)

Thesan: Won’t set foot in any of the pools because, hello, the germs. Dr. Thesan knows exactly what kinds of diseases are festering in that water, and he absolutely will not touch it. Almost dies when he sees his Peregryn lover splashing around. “Come on, we’re getting you into a bathtub.” “Okay–hey, this isn’t water!” “No, it’s hand sanitizer and bleach, now close your eyes.”

Tarquin: The Hot Lifeguard™. He chills up in his hot lifeguard tower, a whistle resting idly on his lips as he scans the wave pool to make sure nobody’s messing around or drowning (he has to yell at Rhys for running all the time). When someone needs help, he executes a perfect dive into the water and saves a damsel in distress it’s me I’m the damsel

Beron: The one who complains about everything but when he gets into the very crowded wave pool, he immediately gets trapped underwater, caught beneath a bunch of inner tubes. “Tarquin, I think someone’s drowning–” “He’s fine, Varian.” “Shouldn’t you throw him a life preserver at least–” *Tarquin throws away the life preservers* “He’s fine, Varian, let him figure it out, this is the only way you learn.”

Tamlin: He wanted to get a tan, but Rhys switched out his sunscreen for suntan oil and he didn’t even notice. Now he has a massive sunburn and can’t walk for the rest of the trip because it hurts so much. Bonus: while he’s sleeping, Feyre writes ‘I am a tool’ on his back in sunscreen, so when he wakes up he’s cherry red, except for the pale skin that reads ‘I am a tool.’
