MORE Beauty and the Beast things I LOVE (collected upon a second viewing):

-The Enchantress/Agathe is played by Hattie Morahan, who played Elinor against Dan Stevens’s Edward in BBC’s 2008 Sense and Sensibility, and I love it when actors are brought back together. Gave me the same smiles as watching Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth in their one scene in The King’s Speech

-LeFou paying everyone in the tavern before “Gaston” because you know he choreographed that months before and they rehearse it every Thursday just in case.

-Cadenza is playing “Be Our Guest” when Maurice overhears the music!

-Maurice’s reaction to Chip is everything

-Maurice and Belle’s relationship is so sweet and wonderful and perfect, and the fact that hearing about it and seeing evidence of it is what finally convinces Beast that not all fathers are douchebags!

-Lumiere’s not a womanizer anymore! He’s devoted to Plumette, not just flirting with her and I love it

-I love Mme. de Garderobe attacking fragile masculinity with gowns and makeup, and then shouting “BE FREE” after them like some gender-role smashing fairy godmother

-”I am not a beast.” Ugh. Just, kill me with perfection why don’t you

-The Beast’s face and eyeroll and nine-year-old boy reaction to Belle’s love of R&J, and the fact that he GIVES HER HIS LIBRARY not because he wants to win her over, but because he just wants her to read better material, and if that isn’t 183% what I would also do, I don’t know what is

-Belle’s happy little shriek after the Beast leaves her alone in the library is all of us don’t pretend it’s not

-Belle trying to hide the rope out the window by standing in front of it. Like, sweetie.

-The juxtaposition of the opening and closing dances! With Adam in the first one flitting from partner to partner and even when he’s dancing with someone, he’s always looking around for a better option, versus that final dance when his eyes are 100% on Belle

-The castle getting more and more dilapidated as each petal falls

There were so many more things but I couldn’t remember them all and I need to go see it again with a notebook, but SErIOUSLY until then COME GUSH IN MY INBOX I need to talk to people about this movie and I’m driving everyone in my real life crazy

anonymous asked:

If you don't mind, please share more of your thoughts about Star Wars 2018? Thank you. I really like your way of thinking about movies! (Sorry my English is weird.)

The upcoming Han Solo movie is unnecessary, and nearly every choice they’ve made so far (both in casting and conception) has been boring and/or unpleasant. So here we go:

First of all, how DARE Disney think that they can play God and somehow recreate 1980s Harrison Ford? how dare they think they can just cast some white boy with brown hair, slap a leather jacket on him, and that’ll do the trick?? do they not understand, do they not comprehend, how lucky lucas films was the first time they found Harrison on a fucking construction lot and sent him to London?? Do they NOT KNOW that they have taken on an IMPOSSIBLE TASK, one that they clearly have already failed at??? I’m aghast. Whoever made this choice at Disney……..shame on you

2) The first time Emilia Clarke gives a prolonged, nose flaring glare and then erupts into some kind of speech about how competent she is, I’m going to LAUGH, i’m going to CRACK UP and i’m not going to stop laughing until I get out of the theater and go home and find something to punch for 20 to 30 minutes

3) WHO ASKED FOR THIS ANYWAY?? remember what a douchebag han is for the first couple of scenes of a new hope? how much he needed to be balanced out by Actual Angel Luke Skywalker to even be palatable? who wants a whole movie of this? who needs two hours of him stealing and presumably flirting with actual piece of cardboard emilia clarke?????

4) A Leia Organa movie should have come first because it would have actually been interesting and here’s Billie Lourd, totally ready to take that role and more or less the right age, it’s foul that they didn’t sweep up this chance when they had it

5) have I mentioned it’s All Men + Emilia ‘I have exactly 2 facial expressions and that’s it don’t ask for more’ Clarke?

6) Harrison Ford deserves better

7) His legacy of being really fucking hot deserves better

8) Every girl who grew up having sex dreams about Han Solo deserves better

9) Carrie Fisher, who actually got to tap that ass, deserves better

puffyball13  asked:

I loved billdip for a long time but often other fans of gravity falls said mean and rude things about it and to those who ship it? As a fellow shipper, I ask for your wisdom to tell me why?

Hello sweetheart, I’m sorry for taking so long to reply you.

For your question, I pretty much don’t want to discuss about this publicly but I think it would be better if I say it out one more time.

As much as I hate to admit this but BillDip is neither the most popular ship AND the most hated ship in this fandom, the reason can be summarized in one word: pedophilia - which stands for a relationship between an adult with a child. Others reasons is about abusive relationship or some sort.

If you ever want an advice from me, let me tell you one thing, that is certainly important to remember if you ever see someone harrassing the ship again: they are fictional characters. None of the thing we artists/authors draw/write are real, it’s just our own imaginations.

Sure when I say this some of you might wonder: “Then it’s okay to ship pedophilia with fictional characters because it’s your imagination?”. If I answer this in my very opinion, I’m the kind who would like to build a proper relationship for the couple I like so I can avoid all the bad things happen to them, but if I answer this in the role of all BillDip shippers, I must say yes and no, cause we all people and we have weird tastes in something sometimes but that not mean we support/are that kind in real life, fiction and real life are really, really different, please remember. It’s like watching some Disney movie which make you wondering “How the heck can two characters fall in love in like one day?”, but yet you still ship them. Yeah, that’s pretty much it mate, fiction don’t happen in real life.

So if someone don’t like the ship please just move on, this fandom is not about us shippers so don’t pull the rage to you by yourself just because you don’t like it or want people to stop shipping it, trust me, they won’t stop…

( TRANS ) wonwoo’s japanese md pamphlet — february ‘17

my role in seventeen is ‘brains.’ i like books, be it mystery novels, historical novels, literature, poetry; i don’t choose based on genres. if there’s time, i’m always reading. after reading an emotional book, my tears don’t stop. i’m usually not the type to cry, but when i’m touched by a movie or book, my tears become a lot. recently, i read 3 of higashino keigo’s books. in korea, higashino keigo is very popular (his books). the one that left a deep impression on me was 'miracles of the namiya general store.’ it’s a story about communication between the past and the future via letters, it was very emotional.

my birthplace is changwon, gyeongsangnam-do. i can’t really remember much regarding kindergarten, but the thing that remained in my memory is a high slide. i often went to the nearby park with my friends, it was a very average childhood. in elementary school, i goodheartedly joked around and played with my friends. the most fun was after class, we would have a drawing battle on the blackboard. now that i think about it, it was comedic and cute. (laughs)

i liked playing with my friends, but i also liked doing stuff at home quietly, since then i often read books. in 1st grade someone bought me the whole set of the record of the three kingdoms, i read it multiple times. also, i liked solving quizzes on computer games.

i got into music in middle school. the rock band buzz was popular, so i got excited with my friends and said 'let’s try being a band too!’ and we learned how to play instruments together. i learned guitar, my friend learned drums. i had the vague dream of 'it would be good to have a concert in seoul someday,’ so i started going to a music academy. practicing dance with my friends, we even recieved an offer to stand on the stage of our middle school academy. i couldn’t dance well then, but it was a fun memory. (laughs)

at the suggestion of my teacher at the music academy, i went for an audition. i said to my friends, “if i have a dream to be an artiste, it’s definitely going to be a good experience,” i went to the audition with the purpose of gaining experinece, in the end i couldn’t believe i passed. so i came to seoul, and became a trainee from my 3rd year in middle school.

actually, before passing the audition, i thought 'when i grow up, i want to do music with my friends freely’ or 'i want to travel the world,’ there were a lot of things i had interest in, but i never thought about what i wanted to do for my future job. however, having passed the audition, i formed the goal of being a singer. my father is very happy and is supporting me for chasing my dream now. i’m always concerned about seventeen’s activities, so i search my name on the internet (laughs). my father looks after and treasures my family; at work, he’s someone who devotes himself to his work persistently. i respect him as a father, and looking at the back view of a man who lives confidently, there are a lot of things to learn from him. for the first 6 months in the dorm, there were so many things that i couldn’t get used to from my original lifestyle, it was tiring, but the friends who became trainees first taught me many things, and i could get used to it later on. when i got the sense of things, i could do well in terms of singing and dancing, it was like jumping over a wall. also, i felt reassured that i gained friends who did it with me.

originally, i listened to many genres of music. i also liked hip-hop, so i started doing rap. even thought it was my first time rapping, i was unexpectedly natural. i think rap matches me.

in my opinion, the charm of rap is its lyrics. writing about what you think and feel, and expressing it along with a rhythm was very fun. you can feel the charm of it especially when the rap is very natural. using literature as an example, a vocalist’s lyrics would be a poem, a rap would probably be an essay.

anonymous asked:

So, I'm American & fairly new to the Skam fandom and unfamiliar with Norwegian anything, so I was just wondering about something. On the show they play songs in English and the characters, most notably Noora, sing American songs in English, so does this mean they also speak English and understand it? Like if I went to Norway and ran into one of them and spoke to them would they understand what I'm saying? Is it common for Norwegians to also speak English?

I have to admit me (French) and my Swedish friend had a good laugh over your ask.

I’ll answer it seriously instead of the million of ways I could sass you in the hopes it’ll help other people realise how USA-centric (and sometimes “just” English-as-a-first-language-centric) they can be.

English has been one of the most prominent world language for a while now.
It is taught in schools, as a second language, in most countries that do not have it as a first language. It is often required for someone to know English if they want to hold any job in their native country (from being a waiter to practising medicine). When two people from different countries that do not have English as a first language want to communicate, they will often do so in English: since most people speak it already.

The USA is an economic power that influences the entire world. From its politics to its pop culture, the country dominates. People in Europe often consume more media coming from the USA (and the UK) than from their own country (this is from my personal observations). We are used to hearing English.
The internet is mainly in English too, for the reasons I listed above: it’s easier for people of different nationalities to talk to each other in English. You also have more online dictionaries that translate your native tongue to English than to other languages.
When Isak googles his questions about being gay, it is in English. Because if he were to google them in Norwegian, he would get much less results. It’s as simple as that.

Everywhere you go (apart from rural areas) you’re sure to find people who will speak English. We’re knee-deep in the English language and have been since we were born.

The fact that this is news to you is a baffling show of how USA-centric Americans can be.
How were you able to live your life without realising how much your language and country influences the rest of the world?
It almost seems like other countries seem to exist more to us than to you.
Because, since we were little, we were taught that we needed to speak other languages to be understood outside of our borders. We were taught about the English and American culture in text books and in our movies and novels. (I remember making an independent bookseller in France sweat when I asked him if he knew of any funny novel not written originally in English) We watch Disney Channel shows and are supposed to understand the intricacies of the American school system and what cheerleaders even are.

So yes, people in Norway (like mostly everywhere else) speak English.
They understand English. They listen to songs in English.
English slips into their everyday language and they’ll say things like “Jesus Christ!” with an American pronunciation because they heard it so much in American movies. Things like “I read it last week” just because the phrase comes to them this way. Things like “I know what you’re playing” because, again, it comes this way naturally and maybe they heard it on a TV show and it stuck and they know the reference will be shared (or that, at least, the English will be understood).
They’ll post on Instagram in English because they’ll want their text to be understood worldwide.

See, French is my first language, and yet I wrote all of this in English without the help of a dictionary. Most of the Europeans in the SKAM fandom communicate with each other in English on the daily.

I hope this answers your question. And I hope Americans start looking outside of their borders without needing to be prompted every single time.

I just have to say, I love Daisy Ridley so much!  I admire her because she is talented, kind, and incredibly positive.  I love how passionate she is about the role of Rey and Star Wars in general.  I love that she promotes the movie in funny videos and connects with her fans.  I love that she acknowledges Reylo and has liked Reylo fanarts on social media in the past.

What I love most is seeing a woman who has serious illnesses that only affect women starring in a lead action role.  PCOS and Endometriosis are no joke…they can be incredibly painful, exhausting, and can cause an imbalance of hormones which can affect your physical and mental health.  If you have never experienced it, you can’t understand the toll it can take on your body.  Women have different experiences with PCOS and Endometriosis, different symptoms can occur in one woman that does not in another.

I remember reading an article about Daisy having to eat so much of the bread Rey eats in that one scene in the movie.  She stated how exhausted she felt after eating so much of the bread which is an effect of the PCOS.  People with PCOS tend to produce too much insulin which in turn causes extreme exhaustion.  I’m not talking about I’m tired and I could use a nap, I’m talking about I could stay in bed and sleep for days and still feel exhausted.

It is amazing watching Daisy overcome both of these illnesses and rock the role of Rey, which is intense both physically and mentally.  I appreciate her candidness about her illnesses in the past, it has helped her fans who have to deal with these illnesses greatly.

Daisy, you rock and I love you!  Thank you for being an amazing role model and inspiration to women everywhere including us who have PCOS.

reminder 36582 that westallen is so important. not just cause they are a pure, healthy relationship who are soulmates in every timeline/universe etc. but because they are the MAIN interracial couple on a pretty racist network on the highest rated show. you can be pressed about it all you want and wish barry was in love with your white fave but that’ll never be the case. years from now it won’t matter why you disliked them together. all people will remember was that the main white character was in love with a black woman. and that candice patton as iris west created opportunities for other WOC (i.e flash movie). that.will because representation matters. and more shows ought to do the same.

I see everything now

So this amazing theory got me thinking about an old theory that I never posted.

Some clues I caught during my rewatch made me believe that Ali was on to the game from the beginning. And the purpose of a movie was the first thing that came to my mind ( @prettylittlesession ‘s idea of a live show is even better, instant money and much less trouble). Ali wanted fame. She was gathering money before she left. She had just found out about the NAT club and that might have given her an idea. A plan that she could never carry out without help - and that’s when Mona comes in.

Remember the Ouija Board flashback in 3x07? This is the episode of Cece’s first appearance by the way. Hanna flashes back on one stormy night just before ‘Ali’s’ body was found.

Aria pointed it out directly: Mona hired someone to scare the hell out of Hanna. The thing is, by then nobody knew Ali was indeed alive. So this was most probably Alison. Why on earth would she be there at that precise moment if she was not working with Mona?

I think the “arrangement” between Mona and Ali goes way further than a wardrobe advice. Ali was totally aware that Mona was harrassing the girls and she was even helping herself.

One other big clue is the Ali “dream” Aria had in 3x16.

And how does she see everything? Through Mona’s eyes.

Erm, excuse me? How could Spencer have figured out that a character she met 9 episodes ago was actually her transgender half-sister brought up in Radley??? One more clue that the writers changed the direction of the show halfway. Alison was supposed to be involved or at least all-knowing and in on the game. She came back as an innocent sheep in season 4 because the writers needed her to (keep in mind they had to last 2 more seasons than planned). So either she they decided to clear her completely and give her a happy ending, or she is still on A’s side. That’s something that will be cleared in the finale I believe.

(Note: the last image is Mona speaking, not Hanna).

When Ali comes back in season 5, Mona is extremely defensive. She is determined to show everyone Ali is still the old Ali. It’s because she KNOWS Ali is still the Ali who enjoyed the game so much.

On a side note, I think Mona was really afraid of what Ali could do, and this is why she was so threatening.

And who was she pretending to be?

Right on. Alison. What if she has been trying to open the girls’s eyes all along?

Ps: if you’re watching this on your mobile, half of the images might be missing!

I love Finn so much, and I love how thoughtfully and how beautifully John Boyega inhabits the role–

He’s spoken in interviews about how he sees Finn as a much needed departure from overly assured, macho, hypermasculine heroes, and it’s SO visible in the movie–

Finn is so vulnerable, so flawed, so human-

I love how he wears his emotions on his sleeve:
“Keep calm, keep calm…”
“I am calm!”
“I was talking to myself…”

How both he and Rey look overwhelmed and terrified at the prospect of flying a ship-

How he runs to save (what he thinks is) a poor girl being attacked and outnumbered by thieves  (let’s remember that Finn is unarmed and outnumbered too!!)
BUT then he turns right around and runs for his life when she runs after him with a weapon:::
He’s BRAVE, but it’s bravery that’s tangible, not the Movie Hero’s insensate lack of fear.

Finn is so funny, but he doesn’t have the zingy one-liners of a guy who has it all figured out-  Mostly he’s making witty observations or stating an ironic truth, or bantering with Rey or Han-

He and Rey both feel so young and they relate like people– Finn may be attracted to her, but aside from wanting to impress her he never gives any indication-
he doesn’t hit on her or make innuendos or act like a man is generally supposed to act in movies to prove he’s a DUDE-

Finn just reacts with joy and excitement that he’s found such an awesome, badass friend— just look at the way he and Rey rush to compliment and gush over EACH OTHER after flying the Millenium Falcon for the first time.  He’s so not cool!!
He should probably be shrugging and squaring his shoulders like “Oh yeah, that’s me: hero of the resistance, glad you could keep up…” if he wants to keep up the charade that he’s part of the Resistance,

but he’s THRILLED and he forgets his Cool Guy persona and wants to gush and nerd out like a little kid, and tell Rey how cool she is, and say “No no, I only hit the target cuz you set me up for it!!”

I’ve totally lost my train of thought, but yeah Finn is a wonderful character and I love him a lot

the danvers sisters & lilo and stitch

inspired by: (x) (x) (x)

like, look guys,

alex makes kara watch lilo and stitch - it’s a few months, maybe closer to a year since kara crash landed. and kara is struggling with everything - with fitting in, with being normal, with understanding the true loss she suffered, with not breaking what she touches. alex has to practically drag kara to the living room and sit her on the couch and put the movie on.

and tell me that kara doesn’t watch lilo and stitch for the first time and immediately identify with stitch. and not just for the way stitch bonds with lilo (although believe me, we’ll get there) - but for the destruction.

tell me kara, new to earth with a body that’s supposedly hers but is utterly foreign, doesn’t feel like she was somehow programmed to destroy everything she touches. that when she can’t so much as hold a glass without shattering it, or close a door without ripping it off it’s hinges - tell me she doesn’t look at stitch and be like that’s me.

and god,

she watches stitch exploring all of these weird earth things

and kara relates so hard and so immediately. because here is an alien who crash lands to this planet, who doesn’t speak the language, who can get hit by a truck and survive, who destroys without really meaning to because stitch doesn’t have control. not to mention the fact that stitch is, as far as he is aware in this movie - the only one of his kind. alone in the universe.

imagine how powerful it is for kara to watch as stitch finds love, and finds acceptance. finds family. tell me kara doesn’t end up sobbing because here’s a story tailor made it seems, to tell her it’s going to be okay.

and god, alex had the idea on a whim - show her alien little sister a movie about another alien who crash lands. but like, alex doesn’t realize just how hard it’s going to hit kara - not until she’s got kara sitting next to her crying. not until alex pulls kara into her arms and kara starts sobbing.

and just, kara who feels like both lilo and stitch sometimes. and then alex who feels like both lilo and nani sometimes. both of them the weird kids in class, both of them having lost parents. alex trying to make sure her kid sister doesn’t reveal herself as an alien. alex who tries her hardest and still sometimes feels like it’s not enough.

i just,

stitch using his alien abilities for good - to help save lilo. tell me kara doesn’t see that and think “i can do that.”

and of course, she’s sits on it for a while. years, because she’s trying to fit in and she’s trying to be ‘human’ - but then there’s the the plane with it’s engines on fire,

and there’s kara who, all she can remember is

so of course kara saves alex. and of course, kara thinks about this scene when she’s back in her apartment with alex. [even if alex is angry at her, even if alex is worried - but this is all kara is thinking about.]

Your father would be angry. You quickly threw the stem down on the ground, trying to hide it between the grass. You heard footsteps behind you, and straightened up quickly. Turning around, you came face to face with your brother. He smirked, looking at the dirt on your dress.
