it started out with a sketch

Ska! How do you ink your traditional drawings? And. Would you mind sharing some tips for traditional?

Yes of course, thank you for asking! ; 7 ; / To start, don’t think you need expensive tools to draw traditionally, even just a $1-$2 ink pen or sharpie can look nice against paper! The tools I usually use for all my ink work is a red color pencil, $2 ball-point ink pen, and a sharpie (occasionally white out)! If you’re like me (someone who has trouble doing a large-scale picture and do better with smaller thumbnails), I would suggest to buy yourself a small canvas sketch journal!

It’s a lil beat up, but this is what I use! It works well with sharpies/ink and feels great to draw on! As for sketching, I find red color pencil sketching looking better than a regular pencil! It feels like guidelines and makes the black ink pop out more! Here’s a comparison with an old doodle!

A great way to make your lines look nicer is extra line weight! I usually give my outlines an extra stroke with the pen to make the lines thicker on the outside, and you might also want to go over your lines twice if your ink is not dark enough! ; 3 ; / I also occasionally use whiteout to fix mistakes or add lil stars/sparkle by dipping a toothpick in it.

The next thing I suggest is using an app called CamScanner! It uses your camera to capture your pictures but defines the lines/colors better and works great if you want to use the lines as lineart when you scan it to color digitally (don’t think you need a tablet to color it! Half of this picture was colored with my tiny trackpad. You can totes do it with time and effort)! Here’s another comparison!

CamScanner on the left, and regular camera on the right! It also changes lighting, crops pictures (I had to crop the right one on sai), changes toning, and even fixes angled shots for you! It works wonderful and I recommend it! The last thing is that please have fun and take your time!

I think that’s about it! Sorry if I went a lil long! Of course, I’m not a professional and obviously there’s probably more benefits with professional tools, but this is my process! Thanks so much for asking! <3

I'd like to point out just because someone believes a character to be white doesn't mean they aren't pro-racial. You're doing a great job! ❤️

Thank you for understanding this <3

And it’s not like I’ve never drawn poc!Hermione

or Zabini

or Angelina Johnson

or Dean Thomas

or even Asian!Harry

I’ve started my consistent greyscale sketches 2 months ago and I can’t ignore the fact my number of followers have grown very fast since then. It’s funny receiving messages asking me “do you draw jily?” because people who follow me before then know this fact that I drew a lot of Jily fanarts :) I get that they won’t look for all the contents of my blog so people might think Auror Harry Potter is the only fanart I’ve done. But I would like to point out the fact I’ve been in the fandom as fanartist/potterhead for years… I’m defending myself before  more people come in my inbox accusing me for being someone I am not because they don’t know me and don’t know half of what I do as an artist… because I just didn’t draw what they were expecting one time… I am very open minded about headcanons. I enjoy fanarts of all kinds. I never judge people, so I really don’t like when people judge me.

Again, thank you for understanding this!

crashtan  asked:

do any of the band members have tattoos? it seems like the sourballs would be covered in them (whoop this is my 2nd question but im in lov w this comic thank u for making it its perfect 💕)

Thank you! They don’t, at least not in any place we’ve seen (which started out more than anything because it’s tricky to keep consistent in the drawings) - but maybe this is something for the future. I’ve definitely sketched some Turpentines covered in tattoos that feel really correct.

First dance class and they’re already done, shoelaces untied, tempers reached, puns as passive aggressive attacks - the whole shebang. I think they’re so irate because neither of them do any form of exercise, so to be backed into a corner like this wasn’t a desirable experience for either of them, but they have to do this in order to beat Blue and Edge

So I started with the sketch on the very left of the previous post because it could’ve gone anywhere tbh. I think I made Stretch’s face super pissed off by accident so, um, I kind of added text to accommodate? Idk, it wasn't my plan but I rolled with it anyways. Hope you coped with them foot puns

I’m still figuring out how to draw the head shapes but I think I definitely nailed Stretch’s this time and Red’s doesn’t look too potato-like. I NEED TO GIVE THEM NEW SHOES AT SOME POINT THOUGH, RIP. oh and don’t bother zooming in to see their hands, you won’t find them. nope.

Star sign aside, Bellamy/Bob has the most difficult face to draw! I started a sketch of him in that promotional photo as 'King' sitting on the wooden throne? 3 times! and ended up abandoning the mission altogether! Yes bob Morley your face is frustrating, it's so perfect, one tiny thing out of place just ruins the whole thing on paper. So, good luck to Clarke for sketching his jawline erday, cause the bravest of us have failed to conquer.

like i’m not even an artist or anything but just from like an anatomy point of view it’s?? so?? difficult??? u right, kudos to clarke for sketching that sharp as fuck jawline everyday

i want to go buy new paint so i can finish this giant virgen de guadalupe crying kewpie doll i started but i don’t want to go to the overpriced art store here ugh
i just want to put this sketch onto something nice because the idea came out really cute tbh at this point i might just embroider it onto a jacket or something because i have SO much embroidery floss and Nothing else

i don’t want to murder the tiny prismacolor pencil set i got for my birthday like i think i would have to to get the colors as deep as i want. 🙃 my art teacher senior year of high school taught me to just grind as hard as possible with them for color payout and i haven’t taken another class where i actually got to color any drawings since so i still don’t know if that’s correct because he was one of those -actually smokes weed in his car everyday during lunch- art teachers.
he saw a video clip of the little despicable me girl saying it’s so fluffy i’m gonna die and spent our whole 2.5 hour class watching it on a loop crying from laughter. he proceeded to repeat this every class for the next two weeks. I ran into him at awesomecon the first year i went and he was just standing in the lobby, mouth in a huge open smile, wide eyed as hell, and i came up to him to say hi and he said “i have no idea how i got here.” with a very dreamy expression. then he gave me a hug and started spinning around with his arms out.
but he sent my self portraits in for contests so i always liked him anyway

ellstersmash  asked:

Who has been your favorite character to draw so far?? And, if you don't mind sharing, what is/are your favorite piece(s) that you've done?

Thanks for asking, Ellster!! ^_^

So, this question was so intriguing that I literally pulled myself out of bed at 6am to think about it. My portraits started as just retraining myself how to draw, because I stopped at around 18 or 19 and never picked up a pencil again until last November or December. This watercolour was the last painting I ever did back then, and as you can see, this huge old thing has fallen apart:

Eventually, I wanted a series of Inquisition portraits to look sort of like what you would find at the end credits of a movie. I can’t say they’re up to that quality, but I was just happy to be sketching again.

At first, I thought my answer for favourite character to draw would be Bull, because I got him bang on the first try and the sketch was actually retweeted by Freddie Prinze, Jr., Mike Laidlaw, and Patrick Weekes. Although I was extremely happy with how he turned out (especially the metal of his eye patch) and I fangirled for about three days straight over the retweets, he wasn’t really my favourite to draw. Then there was Sera. Her quirky smirk and the smile in her eyes was so pleasing to capture. And then there was Cole, and I had to use 4 separate references for him, but it was worth it because he is my baby and I adore him.

But hands down, Madame de Fer has been my favourite character to draw.

It took me a cool minute to warm up to Vivienne as a character, but once I did, there was no going back. Everything about her, from her soft smile to her laugh, to her poise and the way she holds herself, and even her grief at her loss of Duke Bastien de Ghislain, I JUST! And all of her intricate details were so fun to capture and really challenged me to try harder for her. Honestly, I just love this one because I really value her as a character, and whenever I play, darling, I always make her Divine. Her greatest fear is irrelevance. I mean, baby look out, because I’m about to make you the most relevant woman in all Thedas! I just love her and had a great time getting her on paper.

As for favourite pieces I’ve done, this one isn’t part of my sketch series and was something I drew quickly as a February prompt. Someday (read: when I’m not lazy), I’ll fix the lettering and correct the washout of the colours here (maybe even redraw the entire thing), but I loved this idea and had a lot of fun with it lol.

I just have a lot of feelings for Varric and Cassandra, okay?? My ancestors built ships and loaded them with cargo. Shipping is in my blood, and I will ship these two so big and hard that Isabela’s gonna wanna commandeer it and take it out to sea!

Okay, I’m done, lol. Thank you for the ask!! This was fun! ^_^

🌠 Welcome back, Shiro.

Hello and this is what happens when I experiment with thumbnails and dynamics they “Magically” turn into space dad… yeah ‘magic’

An anon in my inbox was asking about how the bokuro got together and let’s just say it was an eventful day

We dangerous ones

Aaah, the Lethifold! One of my favourite creatures from reading the book as a child. Thanks to @zinfandelli for suggesting it as a creature, I was psyched to draw Credence with one.
(And of course I saw the official design on the bluray just as I was about to start colouring, and had to change up a bunch of stuff from my sketch haha)
