it looked better in my head (as usual)

today ☕

I’ve been feeling really unmotivated recently (have two tests next week and am burnt out from lots of work at my internship) but my mum and bf took me out thrift shopping and to a french cafe (turns out our usual cafe was closed so we went to this french one Ive never been to instead and it was super cute) so I’m feeling better now and am starting to get the urge to plan my study and tackle it head on! also my phone screen is finally getting fixed so things are looking up woo!

I’ve learnt that for me, relaxing is so so important when dealing with stress - I will get a lot more done this week if I go in to it motivated, rather than forcing myself to do work too early and end up with sub par results.

adulting is hard sometimes, but I think I’m slowly getting the hang of it ^*^

Morning Light

Filthy smutty smutty smut. That’s all this is.

Please enjoy and send me your feedback! I love hearing your thoughts!

When I woke up, I could feel his breath hot and heavy on the back of my neck; his arms were tightly secured around my waist. My back was pressed to his toned chest; his left thigh was trapped between my own. He was snoring lightly. There was a little light coming through the crack in the curtain. I guessed that it was still pretty early morning.

I rolled over in his arms to face him. There was a beam of light illuminating his face. His eyes were closed, eyelashes fanned across his cheeks. His lips were parted slightly, but there was a trace of a smile there. I petted my knuckles down his jaw line before leaning forward and pressing a light kiss to his soft, pink lips. He stirred in his sleep and his eyes fluttered open slowly. I kissed the corner of his mouth and leaned back again. When I opened my eyes he was regarding me thoughtfully, a sleepy smile spread slowly across his lips. I grinned and nuzzled my nose against his.

“G’morning,” he greeted, his morning voice deep and raspy, vibrating the air around my mouth.

“Morning.”

“Sleep well, love,” he asked. I nodded my head.

“Mhmm,” I purred, “How about you,” I whispered as I traced his plump lips with my fingertip.

“Much better now that I’m here with you,” he replied quietly. I looked into his bright green eyes as I smiled again and he smiled back at me. I wrapped my fingers around the back of his neck and pressed my lips to his. The hand on my waist pulled me flush with him. I was wearing a t-shirt and panties but he was fully naked as per usual. I placed my palm on his bare chest as he closed his mouth around my bottom lip, gently sucking before releasing it.

I felt his cock stir against my leg as his hand made its way up my shirt; his fingertips gently ghosting up my stomach. My tongue flicked out and licked at his bottom lip before pressing my mouth back on his. He rolled over on top of me and I welcomed the weight of him, having been too long since I had last felt it.

Summary: Bucky and Y/N have been fairly successful at keeping their relationship hidden from the rest of the Avengers. That is… until Nat walks into the kitchen one night and finds Bucky kissing Y/N. While Y/N is relieved that their relationship is out in the open it soon becomes more complicated than she could have ever imagined.

Author’s Notes: Thanks to the lovely @melconnor2007 for the request.

Just brace yourselves, okay?

I knew if I wanted to keep the rest of the team from knowing the awkward drama that was unfolding between half of its members I would have to keep calm for appearances’ sake while trying the best I could to avoid Bucky. As we neared the dinner table I took my place between Sam and Steve.

“Not gonna sit with your boyfriend?” Sam asked with a wink. I sighed internally. I obviously was already off to a bad start. From the corner of my eye I could see Bucky shift slightly to look at me.

“Why would I do that when you’re here, Sam?” I countered with a flirty smile.  He chuckled into his beer as he shook his head.

“Better watch out Barnes or I might steal your girl,” Sam chortled as he raised his eyebrows playfully. I braced myself and looked in Bucky’s direction. There was no humor in his eyes as he stared unblinkingly at me.

“Wine?” Tony interrupted – pulling my attention away from Bucky.

I smiled at him warmly as I nodded my head. He poured a small amount and was about to leave before I placed my hand gently on his. “Tony, you might as well top it off,” I suggested. He laughed as he shook his head and poured me more.

“You’re usually not one to drink in excess like the rest of us,” Tony chuckled as he looked at me inquisitively.

“People change,” I shrugged as I lifted the glass to my lips – looking directly at Bucky. His eyes narrowed almost imperceptibly as I turned away and offered my attention to Tony who was diving headfirst into our meeting while we ate.

“Y/N, it’s your turn to clean the dishes!” Sam proclaimed with a slap on my back. I felt a small surge of panic. Bucky could easily corner me in the kitchen and start the conversation that I was already talking myself out of having.

I groaned as I got up from the table and began collecting everyone’s dishes. Nat had luckily excused herself quickly after eating so I didn’t have to force a pleasant interaction with her. As I neared where Bucky sat and reached for his plate he mumbled, “I’ve got it.” With that, I spun on my heel with the empty plates in hand and made my way straight to the kitchen with Bucky following closely behind.

We began our task in silence. I washed the plates and handed them to Bucky to dry – never taking my eyes away from what I was doing. The tension between us was palpable, but I refused to be the first to speak. As I handed him the last plate his hand brushed against mine causing me to nearly drop it as I jerked back. I turned to look at him and saw the hurt that filled his eyes. “Y/N, I…” he began, but I held my hand up. I was more than a little tipsy from all the wine I had had with dinner. It was making it increasingly difficult for me to hold my resolve.

“I… I can’t… not tonight,” I finally managed to say.

“Then when? Y/N, I need to explain,” he added as panic seeped through his voice.

“You’re right. You need to explain, but not tonight Bucky. For one night I don’t want to cry over you. I just want to have a nice night with my friends. Is that too much to ask?” I added angrily.

“Everything okay?” Steve asked as he leaned casually in the entryway to the kitchen.

“Yeah, Steve. Bucky was just finishing up,” I added as I threw the sponge back into the sink and walked out of the kitchen with Steve walking beside me.

“Are you really okay?” He asked under his breath.

“Yeah – I just… I drank too much and I just want one night with all of us together before I fuck it all up,” I muttered miserably. Steve wrapped his arm around my shoulder and gave me a light squeeze.

“Well luckily for you its movie night,” he said as we strolled into the common room.

“And we’re watching The Hangover!” Sam shouted as he held up the dvd case. I groaned as I rolled my eyes playfully. In all honesty, this was exactly what I needed.

Steve and I settled ourselves onto the couch. I secretly prayed that Bucky wouldn’t sit by me, but given the fact that the only free seat in the room was beside me there was no way he could get out of it— at least not without drawing unwanted attention to us.  A few minutes went by before Bucky strolled out of the kitchen. He scanned the room looking for a seat and saw the only one open was next to me. He casually grabbed my favorite blanket for movie nights before making his way to the couch and sitting uncomfortably close to me. Of course, for the others he was still my boyfriend so nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

“I can take it from here, Steve,” Bucky whispered, a little too intensely, prompting Steve to remove his arm from around my shoulders. Bucky casually replaced it with his – holding on to me a little too tightly. “I brought your blanket,” he whispered as he spread it over us. I grunted softly in reply. My intake of wine was making me tired, but I was also acutely aware of Bucky’s fingers gripping my arm, and the warmth of his body as he sat next to me. I had been afraid of this – being around him and becoming intoxicated by his presence. It was so easy for it to happen, and I suddenly found myself trapped – unwilling and unable to break our contact. Maybe it was the wine, or the lonely nights at the cottage that caused my sudden lapse in self control, but for a few moments I allowed myself to forget everything that had happened… just so I could feel his comfort again. I rested my head softly on his shoulder and felt his small sigh as his fingers caressed my skin under the blanket. My body relaxed as my heartbeat slowed.

As I drifted to sleep I wondered if it was possible for us to find a way back to each other.

I blinked wearily to a strange sound coming from the other room. I vaguely remembered falling asleep with my head on Bucky’s shoulder, and him carrying me to my bed. I heard the noise again – this time it was louder and longer. I sat up rubbing my eyes. With a surge of panic, I realized that the noise was coming from Bucky’s room and, more importantly, that it was Bucky. I jumped out of my bed and made my way to the hallway. As I pushed his bedroom door open the sight caused my breath to catch in my throat.

“Y/N,” he called wearily as Nat held him to her.

“Oh… I’m… Okay…” I muttered as I spun on my heel and quickly retreated. I could hear Bucky get up from the bed and follow me. I didn’t want to go back to my room so I walked the long hall to the elevator – hopeful that I could get the doors to close before Bucky could catch up. I was just in luck – I pushed the button to the rooftop balcony as the doors closed on Bucky’s panic-stricken face. I sighed with a sudden surge of relief.

“FRIDAY,” I said to the empty elevator.

“Yes, Ms. Y/N?” FRIDAY responded.

“Don’t let Sargent Barnes know where I am,” I responded flatly.

“Yes, Ms. Y/N.”

Stark Tower was expansive. With any luck Bucky would give up his search and go back to his room – giving me time to think. I wearily dragged my feet as I exited the elevator. I felt like I couldn’t breathe. So this was it – after all this time, after all of my running – I had never been able to admit to myself that I wanted to come back to Bucky and make everything okay…. but now in the face of losing him to someone else, I could? My heart sank as I laid myself on the couch in the sunroom that overlooked the New York City skyline. I felt miserable as tears spilled over my swollen eyelids. For some reason what I had just witnessed seemed like a bigger betrayal than Bucky not telling me about Nat in the first place. It was intimate and personal – something that I had always helped him with, and in the span of a week I had been replaced. I hugged myself tightly as I laid on the couch and cried myself to sleep.

RIP To My Youth pt. 2

Pairing: Jughead x Reader

Description: It’s the next day and despite the nerves, Y/N is ready to show off her new look to everyone at school. How will they react? With the Vixens tryouts right around the corner and unwelcomed run-ins with Jughead, support from other members of the scooby gang will be needed.

Warnings: Just a few swears it’s all good.

Word Count: 4343 (Yeah I know it’s pretty long so yano, make yourself a cup of tea, sit down, get comfy and give it a read)

You know in those cliché teen movies where the protagonist walks through the halls of their high school and it’s all in slow motion with some kind of empowering music playing in the background and it’s just completely over dramatic?

Well, that’s pretty much exactly what I felt like walking into school today, whether that was a good thing or not was an entirely different issue. I was turning heads, to say the least; I put so much effort into my appearance today that I kinda felt like if I didn’t achieve this response I would have completely failed. I tried my best to keep up a confident demeanour, and to my surprise, I was holding up rather well. I think that little pep talk I had with myself in the mirror this morning might have actually worked, hell yes.

My burgundy dress clung to my body as I glided down the hallway, ignoring the stares I was receiving a little further up I could see Archie, Ronnie and Kevin in a group by their lockers, they were deep in conversation and hadn’t spotted me yet. Unfortunately for me, in order to get to them, I was going to have to walk past the vast majority of the football team, who were all laughing about something in a group by their lockers.

My heart sped up and I could feel my pulse quicken, I prayed they wouldn’t say anything as my usual encounters with them usually involved them teasing me in some petty juvenile way.

As I passed them I held my breath and to my dismay but also surprisingly I was met with a symphony of cat calls, without thinking I turned my head to look at them, I made direct eye contact with the big man on campus himself Reggie Mantle, he just looked at me arms folded leaning against his locker and smirked. I was surprised because usually, he’d call me a freak or something uncreative like Wednesday Adams which Jughead and I had both been called numerous times throughout our years here.  I rolled my eyes rising above it and quickly made my way over to the three familiar faces by the lockers.

“OH MY GOD” Veronica nearly yelled as she eyed me up and down when I stood next to her, “oh my god is right, YES why didn’t you tell us you were going all extreme makeover, that dress and your hair is literally giving me life right now” Kevin said with a look of amazement in his eyes. “Well, I thought I needed a little change,” I said laughing at the look on their faces. “You look amazing Y/N, I can’t get over this” Ronnie continued, she proceeded to literally poke me in the face, I looked at her as if to say ‘what the hell are you doing’, “sorry I just had to make sure this was real” a big smile was now painted across her face. “I think you broke Archie” Kevin motioned to the red headed boy whose mouth was wide open. Kevin’s words immediately brought Archie out of whatever strange trance he was in “H-hey Y/N, sorry it’s just really weird seeing you look so, so” Archie started “So hot!” Veronica finished. This made all of us laugh in unison.

“I was actually wondering if you two would come shopping with me this weekend, If I’m going to keep up this look I’m gonna need help from the experts” I motioned towards Kevin and Ronnie. “Of course! We will be your fashion fairy godparents, ready to give you all the style advice and direction you need” Veronica said looking at Kevin who nodded in approval of her statement.

“Thank you guys so much” I breathed a sigh of relief, “Sorry Arch, I’d ask you too but I don’t think girly shopping trips are really your forte” I said looking at Archie.

“Don’t worry no offence taken you’re right, but maybe I can meet you guys at Pop’s afterwards?” Archie replied. “But of course Archiekins, after a day of retail therapy Pop’s milkshakes are the only way to regain one’s strength” Veronica answered.

“Oh my god I completely forgot to mention, Cheryl’s having a party at her house this Saturday too, apparently her parents are heading out of town to meet with a private investigator and she’s throwing a party to celebrate her mother giving her back the River Vixens and the new recruit she’s picking after school, so naturally I got the whole gang invited, Veronica Lodge does not disappoint” Ronnie said clapping her hands and grinning, this was met with the rest of us grinning excitedly and thanking her.

However all I could now think of was that damn audition today, I’d almost forgotten about it, this news of a party being thrown practically in honour of the new recruit was enough to turn the butterflies in my stomach into grenades. The bell signalling the start of first period cut off this thought and brought me right back into reality. “Oh god, we’d better get going, see you guys in the student lounge at lunch break?” Kevin asked, we all agreed to meet there and went our separate ways.

What class did I have first today? Shit, it was English. My stomach dropped and the grenades started exploding in a far fiercer manor. Jughead was in this class, what the hell was I going to do. Taking a deep breath I started walking rather slowly, in some last ditch effort to delay what was to come; however, in the back of my mind, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to escape the inevitable.

By the time I reached my class everyone was already inside and the teacher had begun talking, great if I wasn’t nervous enough to see Jughead I’d have to do the awkward “dash to my seat/ apologise for being late” stunt.

I took a deep breath and quickly opened the door to the classroom, like ripping off a Band-Aid. Walking in I looked at the teacher who had a surprised look on her face, “ah sorry I’m late Mrs Jackson” I said, before I could scan the room for a seat, the teacher quickly added “oh I didn’t know we were getting a new student today, why isn’t there an office aid with you?”

What the fuck, did she really think I was a new student; honestly I didn’t think I looked THAT different. Then again she was pretty damn old, needless to say, I was still rather embarrassed. I heard some muffled laughs coming from the students already seated, ignoring them I looked at my teacher, in hope of her getting a better look at my face “Uh Mrs Jackson, it’s Y/N Y/L/N, I’ve been in this class all year” I said trying to sound as polite as possible, the muffled laughter continued “oh so It is! I’m so sorry dear you look quite different today, please take a seat and try not to be late next time” I gave her a flat smile and turned to scan the room.

The first time Feyre was painted and dressed up by the shadow sisters, so Rhysand could take her to the midsummer party, I noticed this sentence: “My hair was coiled around a small golden diadem imbedded with lapis lazuli.”

Let me over analyse and explain why this sentence is significant. When Rhysand brings Feyre into the throne room all she can think about is how debased she looks with her sheer gown. In her mind Amarantha looks better because she’s dressed modestly. But lets forget about the dresses for a moment and look at what’s on Feyre’s head and not on Amaranthas, a diadem. What is that exactly? Well a diadem is a type of crown usually worn by monarchs, an emblem for regal power and dignity. Not only did Rhysand give Feyre a CROWN but a crown with a lapis lazuli. What’s the big deal about lapis lazuli, you ask?

Well, Lapis Lazuli is historically one of the most sought after stones. It has always symbolized the starry night (so basically the night court). Also, if you believe in crystals having some sort of “powers” lapis lazuli is often used for its strong emotional components, known for helping people overcome abuse, trauma, depression and grief (Which clearly Feyre needs help with).

Let’s also not forget the discussion between Rhysand and Amarantha when they stroll into the throne room.  “What have you done with my captive?” she said but her smile doesn’t reach her eyes.  “We made a bargain… one week with me at the night court every month in exchange for my healing services…for the rest of her life.”  This was Rhysand telling Amarantha that Feyre is his and not hers. Not only did Rhysand save the life of the human that Amarantha wants dead, he waltzed right up to the foot of her throne, and in front of all the courts, announced not so subtly that he thinks Feyre is going to beat Amarantha and he’s going to support her through it all. Feyre was so wrapped up in her concern over Tamlin that she believed this whole thing was just a way for Rhysand to torment him, when in reality it had nothing to do with Tam. It was Rhysands way to say to Amarantha that her reign won’t last forever.  This was Rhysand rebelling against his abuser.

Request: “Hi I was wondering if you could write a Derek x reader where she likes stiles but he’s with Lydia and stiles begins to ditch the reader for Lydia. Derek notices how sad she is so they start hanging out with her more (as a friend) until she catches feelings for Derek. And idk maybe she’s his mate and Derek know all along but he wanted her to be happy and want him?”

Can’t make it tonight, sorry! Lydia’s over, rain check?

I bit my lip in frustration at Stiles’ text. This was the sixth time he ditched me for Lydia. I get that they are dating and everything, but he’s always ditching me for her lately. We use to be best friends, and now it feels like we’re barely even friends. I shook my head as a couple tears fell, but took a seat on the steps of Dereks’ loft, waiting for Scott to take me home, being as we lived right next to each other. I know it seems silly to cry over getting ditched, but when you’ve liked the person since 5th grade, it hurts.

I saw feet stop in front of me, and I wiped the tear away, before looking up to see who it was. Derek looked down at me with furrowed eyebrows, before taking a seat next to me.

“Are you okay, Y/N?” He asked, concern, unlike his usual stone-cold tone. When I went to open my mouth to speak, he gave me a look and I knew I couldn’t lie.

“No,” My voice cracked, “Nothing hurts more than watching him love another girl.”

“I can understand that,” Derek murmured, thinking I couldn’t hear him but I did. I sent him a confused look, and he just shook his head, “I wish you realized you deserve better than him.”

“Why are you being so nice to me? I literally make your life more difficult and crazy,” I asked, Derek as he pursed his lips into a thin line.

“Believe it or not, I actually consider you a friend. You make my life more interesting not difficult or crazy,” He replied, making me smile.

“AWWW, sour wolf does have a heart,” I giggled, leaning into him as his arm wrapped around my shoulders. I heard him let out a low chuckle.

“I know I’m not Stilinski, thank god for that,” He mumbled the last part under his breath as I laughed, “but how about I go with you since he bailed?”

“I’d love that, actually,” I agreed, making him stand up and offer his hand to help me. I took his hand, and we made our way to his car to head to the new movie.

It’s been about two months since Derek went to the movies with me, and honestly we’ve hung out a bunch since then. I’ve pulled a couple Stiles on Stiles himself, ditching him to hang with Derek, but I don’t really care. Hanging with Derek has been the a blessing. He makes me feel safe, like I can be myself with him. I know that I can always talk to him about anything. He makes me happy, he makes me laugh.

It took me weeks to even realize the change in these feelings, that I no longer liked Stiles. I’m in love with Derek.

I shook my head, sliding to a stop on ice in the skating rink, looking at Derek who was making conversation Mama McCall, Sheriff, Chris and Peter.

It had been decided that we all needed a break from the supernatural world, so currently we’re at the skating rink. Everyone (Scott, Kira, Allison, Isaac, Malia, Lydia, Stiles, Liam, Mason and Cora) gave up on skating like 20 minutes ago, leaving me alone. I was use to skating alone, but it was getting quite boring, so I skated in front of the bench Derek was on.

“Der,” I whined, earning looks from everyone around him, “Come skate with meeee?”

“I don’t skate.” He replied, simply, looking at me with a raised eyebrow as I continued pouting, “Okay, okay. I’ll skate if you do something impressive.”

He smirked, thinking that I couldn’t but I just smiled innocently. I backed away, and skated around the ice rink a couple times before I did a simple triple jump. I stopped in front of Derek, who now held a shocked expression.

“You were saying?” I smirked, as Derek grumply slipped on skates. Once he was on the ice, I grabbed his hand and led him around the rink slowly, giggling as he stumbled. We continued skating for a while, making small talk along the way.

“Woah,” I murmured, skating a few feet in front of Derek as the lights went out and lit the rink up with glitter lights. I laughed, staring at the lights in awe, until I saw a flash of light come from behind. I turned, just in time, to see Derek putting away his phone.

“Did you just take a picture of me?” I asked, skating till I was a few feet directly in front of him, as he nodded, “Why?”

“Cause you look beautiful,” He replied, smirking, as I turned red.

“Thank you,” I told Derek as he walked me up to my front door, “for, uh, skating with me and driving me home.”

“Anything for you,” Derek replied, winking as I turned red, once again. I bit my lip, as I turned to face Derek.

“Can I try something?” I asked, looking up at him. At the nodd of his head, I closed my eyes and pressed my lips against his. It took him a minute to respond, but when he did, the kiss was full of passion. After a few minutes, we broke away breathlessly.

“Wow,” I breathed, looking up at Derek who was smiling down at me, “What does this mean now?”

“It means anything you want,” He told me, placing his hands on my waist.

“I want you,” I told him honestly, earning a full-blown smile from the usual sour wolf.

“Then I’m yours,” He breathed, tilting my head up and kissing me again, “Finally.”

“What do you mean finally?” I pulled back, looking at him confused. Derek looked conflicted.

“Can we talk inside?” He asked, and I nodded, unlocking my front door, and leading him to the couch.

“Every werewolf has a mate. Werewolves know in an instant who their mate is once their eyes set upon the person. When they catch the scent of their mate, the wolf inside them goes crazy. In most cases, the female mate has ultimate control over their male counterpart. Only the strongest of wills can overcome it,” He chuckled weakly, while I just furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

“What does this have to with me?” I asked, really confused.

“You’re my mate, Y/N,” Derek said, looking at me as I blinked in shock. He had my hands laced with his, and was staring at me in worry.

“How long have you known?” I asked, taking a hand away from Dereks’ hand, and laid it against his cheek. He closed his eyes, and leaned against my hand, sighing.

“Since I met you,” His eyes shot open as I dropped my hand, staring at you in shock.

“Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” I asked, slightly hurt.

“I wanted you happy, and I wanted you to want me for me, not because of the mate,” Derek whispered, looking down at the ground, “You also were in love with someone else.”

“I wasn’t in love with him, not like I am with you,” I corrected Derek, whose head shot up and stared at me with a smile, as I grabbed his shirt and brought him into a rough kiss.

Many people’s view of the Lennon/McCartney collaboration is a simplicistic one: that Lennon was the rough and ready rocker, while McCartney was the soft sentimentalist. While that might have been partially true, their relationship went a lot deeper than that.

Perhaps the most important role each played for the other was that of unbiased critic. John was pretty much the only person in the world who could turn to Paul and say “That song is shit.” – and Paul would take it. Paul was the only person who could look John in the eye and say “You’ve gone too far.“

They were usually diplomatic with each other – Paul might say to John, “Oh, I think you can do better than that.” or something similar – but that’s what it came down to. Certainly George Martin couldn’t get away with that. If he dared try, they would bite his head off.

Summary: There was a sadness in his eyes that vanished when he saw you.

There was always a boy on the train. Since you were young, he’d be there and as you grew up he was still there. He would always sit at the back of the train and he would stare out the window. When he was too small to see out the window, he’d stare at his hands, but as he grew and now that he’s older, his were trained outwards at some mysterious force. His eyes were always a little moist and his head was always a little tilted. He never smiled and when he did, it was a sad and small smile, as if he were reminiscing.

Summary: Professor Evans notices one of his student struggling so he has a meeting with them to find a solution.

Pairings: Professor!Chris Evans x Reader

Warnings: None, except reader feels like her best isn’t that good

Word Count: 1k

A/N: Chris Evans’s Esquire magizine photoshoot came out and broke the internet and made every fangirl imagine him as a teacher. So @chrisevansthedoritobastard wanted this and I volunteered, I present to you Professor. And the fic is based on this picture from the photoshoot (from Google) 👇🏻

Y/N argued with herself if she should see Professor Evans during his office hours, she wanted to but at the same time, she didn’t. Professor was a nice person, he wasn’t bitter like the others and he was understanding; if you couldn’t hand in a paper he would listen to why and help you out. Y/N thought she was doing well, always trying her best but after she got her paper back marked she realized that it wasn’t too good. Not only the mark was not expected but also the comment that Professor Evans left at the back;

Please come see me during my office hours

Right when class ended Y/N ran out, pretending not to see Professor Evans trying to catch her attention. The thing is if she didn’t go she would have to face him during the next class and Y/N hated confrontation. So here she was knocking softly on the Professor Evans office door. When Y/N heard a quiet ‘come in’, she took a deep breath and gave herself a mini pep talk and turned the knob. As she entered, she scanned the room looking for the professor; finding him lying on his couch prompted up by his left elbow, wearing his glasses. He was writing something and kept on going back to the red book he was holding in his left hand. There was no doubt that Professor Evans was attractive but she always reminded herself that it could never happen, that Professor would never risk this amazing job because of crushing on a student or even dating one.

The sun rays flickered through the line of trees, the Impala’s roaring engine becoming more comforting as you became accustomed to it. The wind blew your hair in every direction, twisting it into tendrils that flew in the air, flicking your face with tiny stings that made you giggle. Castiel watched you smile to yourself, your hand hanging out of the window, your fingers stretching through the fast airstream that passed over the car going about 100 miles per hour.

Cas started going over the little facts he knew, trying to distract him from the blissful scene that took place right beside him. Again, the car was going about 100 miles per hour. 103 to be exact. It was 3:52pm, and your moving bodies were travelling along the Mayfair highway in Arkansas, at this second to be at a latitude of 35.2010 degrees North, and a longitude of 91.8318 degrees West. In about 4 minutes and 23 seconds it would start to rain, but would only spit down for 54 seconds before the small cloud evaporated and the sun reined the skies once more.

He recalled these facts with ease, his angel capabilities aiding him with a limitless supply of useless knowledge. But there was one fact he couldn’t push from his mind, no matter how many others he tried to pull over the top of it.

It was the fact that he was in love with you.

anonymous asked:

my mom won't let me get therapy cause I rly need help and I've just been real fucked up lately and i can't deal

Ok listen hun, I’m not a professional, and I’m so sorry that you’re unable to get therapy. But you should know that there’s help out there that you can get without therapy! Sure, it may not be what you’re looking for or what you really need, but it can appease for the wait when you can finally get help. Because believe me, if you stay strong and hold on help will come! and if not, look for it, because it’s out there. There are forums and apps and all kinds of people you can talk to, assuming you’re a student it’s likely it can be within your school too. I’m mentally ill and therapy for me has always been rocky, because things don’t usually work out in my life and I can’t seem to be able to really find the help I’m looking for. But I learned from my years of being independent and helpless that it’s in my hands and that I can reach out for what I need easily. It might not be as life changing as I’d want it to be, happy pills don’t exist but strength sure does. Hold on, keep your head up high. It’s ok to break, but remember that you’re better than whatever struggles you go through. I’m sorry if this isn’t the advice you’re looking for, but please stay safe and know that I care about you, and I’m sure others do too! <3

Dragging yourself down the steps of the bunker you tried your best to ignore your Uncle and Dad’s worried stares. Thankfully, they didn’t have time to question anything. Your head was bearing sharp pains, making you feel ten times worse. But, again, you said nothing.
“How did you get here?” Dad’s defensive statement caused you to glance up form your feet. There was Mick. He had a glass of whiskey and was sat comfortably at the table. Her smiled “Alright lads…you know, this is our building. It’s men of letters.”
“It’s creepy.” You mumbled, rolling your eyes.
“That key of yours opens up the door to every Men Of Letters bunker there is.”
“What do you want?”
“It’s urgent, so here me out. A few weeks back our lab picked up some sort of cosmic energy-”
“A nephilum.” Dad nodded, the three of you were well aware.
“You knew?” Mick looked offended, like some sort of trust between you had broken. You didn’t remember making something to be broken in the first place.
“We had her.” Uncle Dean admitted.
Had?”
“She got away.”
“You let her get away!” Mick was in shock.
“She wanted to get rid of the baby too. We didn’t think she was just going to up and run like that. Besides, while you lot were off sipping tea they were locked up!” You snapped at him.

Everyone hesitated and fell silent. You glared at him before saying “I’m going to bed. Don’t try to wake me up.”

You trudged away from them, feeling their confused stares on your back. Making your way to your bedroom, you closed the door and sunk to the floor. Your head was now throbbing.

You clutched it, trying not to hit it against something in some sort of desperate attempt to stop it. Flashes of the one before Claire, the experiment, appeared in your mind. You hissed in pain. This wasn’t normal. This can’t have been-

A surge of agony broke you from the thought, making you curl into a ball, shaking lightly from the never ending pain. Your hands clenched into fists. It wasn’t fair. Nothing was fair.
Why didn’t she survive it? Why didn’t she survive?
You were angry and desperately trying to keep yourself calm. Each breath was harder than the last. Your grip tightened around your hands as you pictured her screams and cries for help.
Anger was swarming inside your mind and everything changed to shapes. Reds and oranges took over as the vibrant hues danced in your vision. The rage was reaching it’s peak, a breakdon was rising up rapidly as your felt your hands shake in attempt to free themselves from their own grip. Your heartbeat throbbed loudly in your mind, muffling out any other sounds.

Then you broke.

At first you heard nothing, but a deafening white noise as it pierced your ears. Then a smash.
Everything fell dark as shards of glass scattered about the floor. Some sliced through your own skin, but you didn’t even flinch. You shouted and cried, burying your head in your hands, bringing your knees to your chest. You coughed- your head now ready to explode.
A harsh cough escaped your throat, sending acid and bile up with it, it seeped through the edges of your mouth, making you choke on the bitter foam.
Then, you felt nothing.

“Anyone seen, Y/N?” Mick asked, walking in on two slightly hung-over and very tired Winchester brothers.
“She told us not to wake her and judging from the way she was I’m keen to obey.” Dean explained, taking a sip of water.
“Alright. I just thought I outta say sorry. She wasn’t wrong, to be fair.” Mick admitted.
“If she’s up she’ll be in her room. Knock and wait.” Dad ordered, making sure an angry teenager wasn’t added to the list of problems.
“Alright, cheers.”

When Mick reached Y/N’s room he knocked on the door and waited for almost a full minute before sighing. “Here goes nothing.” He mumbled, turning the door handle. Only, when he opened the door he saw something he wasn’t expecting. “Y/N?” Mick asked hesitantly, hurrying over to where her unconscious body was. She was on her side, eyes closed, breathing even. If it weren’t for the cuts along her body from the broken light bulb, it would have looked like she was sleeping peacefully. “Sam!” Mick called in a panic.
Running footsteps sounded as Sam sprinted towards Y/N’s room. When he arrived he nearly stepped back at the sight of it.

His daughter was lying in the middle of what looked more like a bomb-site than a bedroom. Shards of glass were plastered across the floor, a few pieces sticking into her bare arms and some on her face, both orbited by specks of dried blood. “Y/N!…Sweetheart?” Sam knelt down next to her, his eyes glistening with tears “Can you hear me?”

Please.” Sam begged. Dean followed after his brother, kneeling next to his niece.
“What happened?” He demanded. No one knew so no one spoke. Sam sat his daughter up against his chest, taking some tissues from the box and wiping away the sick that was around her mouth. Mick began to clear away the area surrounding her body as Dean grabbed the first aid kit. He opened it up and took out a pair of medical tweezers. Dean gently pulled some of the glass from her skin, wiping away any excess blood that oozed out of the wounds.

She groaned a little, trying to grab back hold of consciousness. Dean paused. “Y/N…?” Sam encouraged, squeezing her hand.
“It…it didn’t…” She never finished, her eyes drooping shut. She faded in and out of consciousness as Dean finished clearing her wounds up.

Sam lifted her up gently- bridal styel. He then lay her down on her bed, pressing a kiss to her forehead before pulling up a chair next to her. He put his elbows on the mattress, resting his head in his hands. “I don’t understand.” He admitted- lost. “What the hell happened?” Sam looked up to Dean. His older brother. His guide.

“Sammy, I-“ Dean gulped “I don’t know.”

“Some sort of fit…” Mick said “Did she ever tell you about her…power?” He didn’t like to use the word ‘power’.
“Yeah. When we found that other psychic, she used it a little.” Sam nodded, determined to understand what had happened. Mick nodded slowly “She’s dangerous. Or she can be.”
“But she wasn’t using it.” Sam didn’t understand.
“No….but she was angry. Of course.” Mick nodded to himself, suddenly understanding the mood you were in “She was angry.” He repeated.
“Why?” Uncle Dean questioned, folding his arms against his chest.
“The cure. It worked for Claire.”
“Why’s that a bad thing?” Dean pressed.
“Because it didn’t work for Max.”

You awoke to the sounds of muffled voices and a throbbing head. You heaved yourself up from the bed, sitting up straight and taking in your surroundings. This was your room. You had a few bandages on your arms and there were two chairs next to your bed.

You pressed the palm of your hand up to your head as though it would help with the pain.
You were still angry, but maybe because you weren’t fully recovered you wouldn’t lash out aomeone by accident. After a moment of hesitation you made your way towards the voices. Occasionally, you stopped when everything started swaying.
Your throat was dry.

The voices kept growing louder until you turned the corner. You held onto the door frame, your eyes falling on the backs of Dad and Uncle Dean as they discussed Kelly…the one pregnant with the nephilum.
You opened your mouth to say something, anything, like “hey” or “sorry for breaking your lightbulb”, but only a cough came out.

Their heads turner towards you in shock. Dad rose from his chair and smiled: “Y/N”.
He headed straight for you and hugged you tightly, wrapping his arms around you protectively. “God, you scared us.” He said, relaxing as you hugged back.

“Sorry.” You smiled sheepishly.
When Dad let go Uncle Dean shot you a smirk before hugging you too. You hugged back, smiling in his embrace. You nearly stumbled when he let go, but managed to balance yourself.

Your eyes squeezed shut for a few seconds as you tried to stop the room from turning.

“The hell happened in there?” Dad asked, taking your hand and guiding you a little.
You followed them to the table, too tired to refuse the help. You shrugged.
“Let me guess, you don’t want to talk about it?” Uncle Dean rolled his eyes. You found it hard ot tell if he was being serious or not. “Sometimes I can’t control it. I think I can. But I can’t. Like…everything’s fine,  but suddenly something happens that reminds me of all this shit I’ve been through and it happens.”
No one knew what to say.

“My head hurts. Then I break something. Then I throw up. Then I pass out.” You went through the same stages. “Always the same. “
“Did you smash the lightbulb…with your mind?” Dad asked, leaning forward.
“Yeah. Not on purpose, though. I just. God I don’t know…” You paused to try and think straight “I feel everything rising up and it all snaps. Then something breaks. Or sets on fire. Or falls down.”
“Like I said,” Mick appeared behind you all “She’s dangerous…” He paused, looking at you sympathetically “but, she’s not a bad person.”
“She’s also sitting right here.” You noted.
“Yes…” Mick caught on and added a quiet “sorry.”

“How’re you feeling?” Dad asked. Maybe he was changing the topic for a reason, or maybe he just didn’t have anything else to say. You sure didn’t. “Fine. My head hurts I guess. But it usually goes after a while.”
“I remember when this happened for the first time,” Mick said “Your Mum wasn’t home and I panicked.  You basically made yourself get better.”
“You lived together?” Dad questioned Mick’s word choices, making you look away.
“Well,” Mick stuttered “It was the Chapter House…there were a few different family’s living together.”
“Really?” Uncle Dean raised an eyebrow in disbelief “You’re a terrible liar.”
Mick didn’t say anything.

“Y/N.” Dad’s firm voice forced you to look at him “Care to shed some light?”
“It was the Chapter House, there were a few different families living together.” You lied, copying Mick’s exact words. “There’s a huge one just north from Central London. “
Your Dad seemed to calm down a little when the words came from you. “Okay.” He didn’t push, but something told you he wasn’t fully convinced either.

Almost two days later you were leaning up against the table, Uncle Dean at your side. Both of you were waiting in anticipation, this was the fifth time you’d called Cas. Once again it went straight to voice mail. “This is my voice mail,” Cas’ awkward voice filled the air once again “Make your voice a mail.”

“Come on Cas we’ve called you about five times already.” Uncle Dean sighed, out of words to say. You shrugged when he glanced at you, followed by him hanging up. “This is hopeless.”
“Is he usually like this?” You asked, still not sure if it was like Cas to leave for quite some time. He was an Angel, so who were you to say what was normal for him?
“Not so much lately.” He shook his head “But even still he usually says what he’s doing or where he’s going.”

A woman called Eileen was sat in the war room with your Dad. She was deaf and used sign language when she spoke. And my God was Dad in love. You didn’t say anything, but watched as he blushed when she spoke. “He’s like a ten year old with his first crush.” You whispered to your Uncle, making him chuckle “Yeah tell me about it.”.
“She’s badass.” You noted, realising just how intelligent this woman was. Not to mention the fact that she was a Hunter. Your Uncle gave you an unreadable look before giving in “Yeah. She sure is.”

Stood next to Eileen, you both watched in amusement as your Dad pretended to be a Doctor to get more information. When he hung up Eileen gave up a thumbs up, Dad grinned back and joined the mini line you’d made. You were with Mick and Rawlings, who were now part of the whole nephilim predicament.
“You might wanna take this back with you.” Mick handed over the Cult and Dad took the opportunity to sass him “Gee Mick. I thought we’d gotten past the trust issues.”
You gave Rawlings a glare before getting in the Impala.

Everyone arrived at some sort of abandoned looking carpark. You were waiting for Dean who, hopefully, would be with Kelly and maybe even Cas. “Who’s this?” Dean pointed at Rawlings.
“I’m Rennie…Rawlings. Graduated Kendrick’s-”
“Great. I don’t care.” Uncle Dean ignored his ‘look how amazing i am’ speech and opened up the door for Kelly. She refused any more help and got out of the car, staring at you all with brave fear.

Dad stepped up “Kelly, we all know what difficult situation you’re in and we..we want to help.” He kept a calm voice as not to frighten her anymore.
“You call this help?” She asked, rubbing her stomach where the baby-bump was.
“That kid, “ Uncle Dean began “It’s Lucifer’s.”
“I know!” She snapped “Do you think I wanted this? I love this child.”
“You will mean absolutely nothing to that child when it’s born. It’ll kill us all.” Mick scolded.
“Not helping.” You hissed at him.
“This is absurd.” Rawlings reached for his gun.

“Don’t!” You and Uncle Dean warned him, only to be cut short by a menacing sound with a strong wind. You paused…this wasn’t natural.
“She’s here.” Kelly managed, looking ten times more afraid than she had been.
who?’ you thought.

Everyone reached for their gun and stood apart to cover more ground. You all protectively glanced around to see who, or what, it was. “Hey!” A shout came from behind. You glanced around, seeing a woman…well…demon, with yellow glowing eyes and a determined expression. She threw her hands up, sending everyone except Kelly to the ground. You smashed against one of the broken up cars, your gun trying it’s best to slip from your grip,

She walked forward with a blank expression as everyone fired at her. You stopped, putting your gun down. This was a waste of bullets. She was a Prince Of Hell, she’s not going to die from bullets. She threw her hands up at those still left with guns in their grips, making them drop their weaponry, and continued to advance towards Kelly.

You watched as Eileen reached for the cult, lying just in front of her reach. She grabbed hold, cocking it and holding her finger over the trigger. She aimed for the Demon’s head, squeezing the trigger.

However, as the gunshot sounded you watched in a helpless realisation as the Demon disappeared from view, along with Kelly Kline. The bullet continued further along it’s path than it should have and hit Rawlings in the chest. His eyes widened in shock and pain before he fell to the floor. Blood seeped down his shirt.

You stayed close to your Dad as you watched Mick kneel down next to Rawlings, well aware of the bloody code. “I- I didn’t mean to.” Elileen apologised, moving closer to where Mick was. “I meant to shoot the demon.”
“It’s okay it was an accident.” Dad reassured her, but Mick was unconvinced.

You opened your mouth, halfway between wanting to warn Eileen and shout at Mick. Mick reached for his gun and held it up in front of Eileen. “Woah woah!” Uncle Dean gasped.

“What are you doing?” Dad demanded.

“Mick put the gun down!” You shouted at him loudly. Everyone else had their hands up in defense except you.
“B-But she shot a Men Of Letters. She has to die!”
“It’s not as simple as that!” Dad protested.
“But it’s the code.” Mick was lost.
“Fuck the code!” You practically screamed at him. You stormed past Eileen and your Dad who grabbed onto your shoulder to stop you. You shrugged him off, marching right in front of the barrel. “Y/N, get out of my way.”
“You know I won’t.” You glared at him, trying your best not to look scared.
“Then I’ll shoot you too!” You could see up close that Mick’s eyes were teary.
“You won’t do that.” You said calmly “You don’t have to answer to that stupid code. You can answer to yourself.”

“Your Mum did that.” He was close to crossing a line you’d clearly drawn “And look where it got her.” Your eyes narrowed as he continued “Max tried. Look where that got her.”
“You’re not Mum! You’re not Max! And you’re not my family!“ You cried.
Mick’s expression fell at your words.

Please.” Eileen begged “Please don’t…”

Mick squeezed his eyes shut and took a deep breath. “Mick…” Dad had stepped forward, putting his hand on your shoulder and dragging you away from the gunpoint. Mick followed with the gun absentmindedly before putting it back in front of Eileen. “I know you have this code that you blindly answer to. But you’re better than that.”

Mick lowered his gun, looking in pain as he did so. He avoided everyone’s gaze. “Just go…” he whispered.
Dad nodded, backing away. Only he stopped when you didn’t move. You didn’t know what to do. Did you mean what you’d said? Half of you wanted to apologise whereas the other wanted to walk away. “Y/N,” Dad put his hands on your shoulders “Come on, kid.”

The four of you trudged down the stairs. Eileen was in front, her hand went to her face where she no doubt wiped away an escaped tear. You watched sympathetically as she stumbled to a halt.

“You okay?” Uncle Dean asked her.
She nodded for a few seconds, before changing her mind “No…hee wasn’t a monster…he wasn’t” Dad stood next to her, perhaps about to offer some form of comfort, but she hugged him without needing an offer. He hugged back, his head resting protectively on hers.

“Morning…?” Dad raised an eyebrow at you. It was at least 2 or 3am by now. You’d been up for quite some time.
“Morning.” You hummed, not glancing up from your fidgeting hands.
“Been up long?” He asked, sitting down on the table next to you. Your feet swung, not quite touching the floor.
“A few minutes.” You shrugged.
“Right.” He nodded, still in his night clothes. You both knew he didn’t believe you, but no one said anything.
“What were you reading?” He asked, nodding towards the open book on the table.
“I wasn’t actually reading it…” You admitted, not sure how to explain.
“What else do you do with books?” He asked, slipping off the table and folding it over to read the title “This is in Latin. You can read this?”
“Yeah, but I wasn’t reading it. I was just..turning the pages.”
“Turning the pages?” He echoed. You nodded, not wanting to say it out loud. Dad noticed your slight awkwardness and took a moment to think through everything you’d said. “Oh…you mean, Turning the pages like…with your mind?”

You nodded. “Maybe if I use this…whatever this is…for harmless stuff it won’t build up. And I won’t hurt anyone.”
He offered a sad smile then joined you again, his feet touched the floor. “Maybe.”
“I never told Mum.” You admitted.
“What?”
“I never told her. As far as she was concerned I was normal.” You explained.
“You are normal.” Dad reassured.
“Max couldn’t do it.” You ignored him.
“Really?”
“Just me.”

“I’m sorry…”
You frowned in thought “Why?”
“Mick told us what happened to Max.”
“Oh…” You looked away again.
“I know it must have been hard to watch it work on Claire after.. But, that is a good thing. It’s not fair, but it did save a life.” Dad tried to calm you down, but you’d already lost it over that.
“They made me watch.” You said blankly.
“Watch?”

“When they realised that the cure wasn’t working they made me watch her die.” You took a deep breath. ‘Don’t cry’ you told yourself.
“That’s horrible, Y/N I’m so sorry.”
“I think-” You paused, having never said these words out loud before “I think they meant for her to get bitten.”
“What makes you think that?”
“They never liked us. They could just pass it as an excuse for an experiment. Nothing they did for us was ever due to good intentions.” You didn’t know how to say it without sounding way too suspicious of them.

“What did they have against you?”
“I’m not traditional. I’m not obedient. I didn’t go to Kendrick’s. I have a brain-”
You were cut off by him chuckling at the last point “You’ve been through a lot.” He commented.
“Not compared to some.” You shrugged it off.
“Doesn’t make it insignificant.” He countered, smiling at you.

You didn’t move for a while. “You should get some sleep.” He said, placing a gently hand on your shoulder.
“Yeah.” You agreed absentmindedly.
“Come on.” He said calmly, guiding you away from the room.

When you reached your bedroom you noticed he hadn’t left your side. “Y/N, hey. Look at me.”
You glanced up, your eyes tired and teary. He had a sullen look.

Without saying anything he wrapped his arms around you and hugged you tightly. You squeezed your eyes shut in his embrace in a desperate attempt to keep the tears from falling. Dad’s arms held you close in comfortable silence. “I’m proud of you.” He whispered, pressing a kiss to your head. “So proud.”

5. Play dirty: Try slapping when kisses don’t work

SIMON

“Four times?” Penny is giving me a Simon-are-you-off-your-trolley stare that not even her thick glasses can buffer. “You’ve slept with him four times,” she accuses, rather than asks. Pure Penny style.

“Not with him,” I tell her. “Beside him, rather.”

She adjusts her glasses with her middle finger and decides she’s done with lunch. “Different preposition,” she says. “Same difference.” She’s now giving me her patented Judgemental Stare. This is bad.

“Merlin, Penny,” I protest, taking her plate and stuffing the last piece of roast beef in my mouth. “There’s a huge difference, and you know it,” I mumble.

“Fine,” she gives in, softening her features. “I hope you know what you’re doing.”

“Yeah.” I fix my eyes on the now empty plate. If only we were allowed to repeat lunch, then I could avoid this conversation. Plus, more food. Double win. “Baz is evil and has a plan to finish me off, but I’m one step ahead this time,” I say, my eyes still on the plate.

“I’ll regret asking this later but,” Penny pauses for a moment, as if reconsidering it. “What is this evil plan, exactly?”

“Oh, uhm,” I say to the plate. “Baz is… Trying to…” I take a breath and say, “He wants to seduce me and attack me when my guard is down.”

Penny lets out a laugh. A loud one.

In my defense I’ll say it sounded better in my head. Why do some things lose all sense when you say them aloud?

I look up at her again.

“Nicks and Slick, you’re serious,” she realizes. “Attack you how? With his mouth?” She tries and fails to suppress another laugh, then continues, “So what are you doing to fight this terrifying plan of his?”

“I’m making him fall for me instead.”

“I think you have no idea what you’re doing,” she says, so matter-of-factly that it leaves no place for arguing. Penny usually has that effect on people.

Breaking news – I may have no idea what I’m doing.

We start heading out of the dining hall in silence and I think she’s going to leave without any further discussion when she stops and turns around, looking at me. Studying me. Penelope’s studying face can be very frightening. Hands down one of the most terrifying things I’ve seen. And I’ve killed a dragon. “Are you sure you don’t…” she starts. “Like him?”

Wait. What?

“I don’t like Baz,” I hurry to say. “He’s the enemy.”

“You’ve slept with the enemy, Simon,” she says. “Four times.”

“I’ve slept beside the enemy. Since first year,” I clarify. “And you kissed Agatha during the game, too, that doesn’t mean you like her, does it?”

“Yeah but we don’t go around snogging between classes.”

“You saw that?”

“You’re not being as sneaky as you think.”

“Anyway, it’s not like he likes me either… He hates me,” I say, realising for the first time that I’m not exactly happy about that. “And I don’t like him,” I add.

“Okay,” Penny says.

I run a hand through my hair. “I don’t like him,” I repeat.

“Sure, Simon.” I can see she’s trying hard not to laugh.

“I don’t,” I insist.

Penny raises one of her accusing eyebrows and says, “Nobody said you did.”

“You asked. I just want to make it clear.”

“Yeah, Simon. You made it clear.” Penny stares me down, smiling like she knows better. (She always does.) (Know better.)

“Let’s play Slap or Kiss tomorrow and you’ll see,” I suggest. “I’m going to slap him so hard.”

“What about the evil plan and your,” she pauses. I see the corners of her lips fighting a smirk. “Clever comeback?”

“This will confuse him.”

“Simon.”

“What?”

“It’s ridiculous,” she says. “This will backfire. Spectacularly. Like most of your plans do.”

Okay, she has a point.

“I don’t. Like him,” I insist for the last time.

“Okay,” Penny finally concedes. She breaks her know-it-all façade and grabs my arm.  “Just– Be careful.”

If I could be anywhere else in the world right now, I would. I hated being at the club. Full of nothing but rich grumpy old men walking around drinking their scotches and smoking their cigars and occasionally partaking in, what is possibly, the most boring sport in the entire world. Golf. It seemed to have become more of a social club at this point for the older members, with the younger, newer members filling out the greens and the putting lanes.

So, yes, I hated it. The only time I remotely even pretended to tolerate it, was when it was absolutely, crucially necessary. Basically only showing up to look pretty and stick on a smile for whatever family photo-op my Dad needed for the club’s yearly annual or if we were referenced in the city’s paper and on the news, which was often the case. We were a highly influential family, rich in money and our many charities.

See, my father owned the most prestigious and exclusive members only golf club in the state. Has since before I was born. A southern country club girl born and raised, I don’t really know much of anything else besides attending the best private schools and how to successfully run a golf club. I’m an only child, and a bit of a Daddy’s girl, and proud of it.

But none of that meant that I enjoyed lagging around after my father as he got ready to play his morning round before the club opened on this particular day.

Part 2  Part 3

“Uhm, excuse me?”, you asked a young girl passing by you while juggling a bunch of pears without touching them. It amazed you how openly those kids used their powers, as if they weren’t peculiar in any way. Well, they weren’t at this school, you reminded yourself. The girl stopped and eyed you curiously. “Would you mind telling me where I can find Professor Xavier’s office?”, you asked and smiled.

“It’s down the hall, to the left.”, she responded and turned around to pick up a pear she had dropped.

“Thanks.” Your heels loudly hit the floor as you walked past doors behind which you could feel the presence of students and teachers, children and adults. You were neither, you thought, and still, you were here. Right now you were just looking for someone to tell you how to use your abilities. You were hoping the Professor could maybe provide you with some information.

March 25

Baz

I hear Snow before my eyes have even opened, his steps across the creaking floor too loud for the tranquility of the morning.  I don’t move, listening to the water run, to the soft sound of him brushing his teeth, and the familiar pang returns to my stomach.  If only I could keep this moment of perfect softness and live in it, never moving forward from it.  Just pure, quiet, contented bliss.

But the pang reminds me that I have to get up, have to move from this spot, have to face another day of his hatred, of my family’s expectations.  That I can’t lie here and listen to him brush his teeth forever.  It’s the reason that the pang exists at all.

I stretch under the covers as far as I can, my legs hanging off the end of the bed by at least a foot, my wrist banging the wall behind my head.  I turn over to glance blearily at the nightstand, my wand, the time on my clock…

           Hang on.

My eyes dart back to the wand, because it sure looks shinier than usual.

It takes my vision a few hard blinks to focus, but once I can see clearly my jaw drops open indignantly.

There’s a cross on my wand.

More specifically, there’s a silver chain, sporting an all-too-familiar silver cross pendant, wrapped around my wand.

I sit up and drop my feet to the floor, leaning closer for a better look.  Not only has Snow tangled my wand in his necklace, but he has gone far enough to secure it with tiny pieces of tape.

Next to his little display sits a card, the kind people attach to gift bags.  Inside are two words.  Your move.

I grind my teeth as he shuts the water off. I can’t tell if he’s made a stupid move or a clever one.  Snow makes vampire jokes all the time, like he’s trying to see if I’ll give myself away, but I didn’t think he was this serious about the theory.

Because if I’m not a vampire, this trick will only mildly inconvenience me.  If I am a vampire, I won’t be able to remove my wand from his necklace without burning myself.

Either way, he’s about to have a very pissed-off roommate on his hands.

When Snow emerges from the bathroom he leans against the doorframe and watches me, making no effort to be stealthy about this particular prank.

I raise an eyebrow at him.  “Really?”

“What’s the big deal?” he shrugs with a sly tilt of his head.  “It’s not like it’ll burn you, right?”

I want to hold his gaze and show him I know exactly what he’s doing, but I can’t.  Not if I value what little secrecy I still hold over him.

So I turn my face away from him and pick up my wand with a lightly trembling hand.  I don’t hesitate before peeling away each scrap of tape, and I bite the inside of my lip to keep from flinching as the silver bites into my skin, leaving stings all over my fingers.  They won’t turn into scars, but they will burn until I can feed again.

“I believe this is yours,” I say as the chain drops to the table, my wand free once again.

           “Toss it here.”

I should drain him dry right here and now.

But instead I take the cross fully in my hand, the shape searing into my palm, and toss it like it’s a ball or a key or anything that doesn’t burn.  I hold his gaze as he catches it easily.

“You’ll have to do better than that,” I growl as he leaves without another word.
