This may be an unpopular opinion, but while I don’t think Danger Days is MCR’s best album, I think it’s the most timeless. Bullets, Revenge, and TBP are all great albums, but also undeniably influenced by/associated with the time period. Danger Days had its own influences, but it never seemed like a “product of the times.” If I didn’t know when it had been released, I probably wouldn’t be able to guess the date.
I also feel like Danger Days was ahead of its time–now EVERYONE’S doing the whole “colorful rebels in the desert” thing, but at the time it was still fresh and original. And it still stands out as a unique work, not another generic post-apocalyptic tale.
