A/N: Whoooo! First Matt Cohen x Reader request EVER, I feel awesome! The R2M questions you guys asked but were not included in the fic will be answered soon! ALSO, those fanfic writers I referenced (From Con to Con is by @nerdyforyourbooks, Aria being one of the most PHENOMENAL smut writer EVER, you can find her on ao3) are AMAZING so do me a favour and go check out their stuff!
(the guy who deserves more fanfiction written about him)
Welcome to week 14! A day late, sadly, hope you can forgive me. Please note that Drabbles are no longer included in Read it Wednesday. Also note that if you don’t see a series here, it means I’m behind on reading, but once I catch up you can be on the lookout for it here! This week is a little shorter but I tried to include at least one fic from everyone who tagged me. Alright, here’s this weeks compilation of fics!
Mon-El of Daxam – Hero’s Journey to Valor - Part 1
The Supergirl Writers know about The Hero’s Journey (Monomyth) steps as described by John Campbell (it is specifically mentioned in the last conversation that Kara and Cat have in season 2).
Mon-El is following all 17 steps through his journey to Valor. I’m going to explain how he does meet them pointing to specific scenes in the episodes. I’m going to divide this in 3 posts and this is Part 1.
I will also make guesses about how Mon-El could achieve the remaining steps of this journey during season 3 for his rise to Valor. It is going to be so awesome!
Btw, his transformation to a better person/ hero includes how to be a productive member of society, find a job and actually be good at it. Not only fighting bad guys.

A/N: Here is it, folks. The final installment of Home! It only took me about a year to write six measly chapters to a story heh … enjoy! Thanks for all the support! I gotta say, I am pretty pleased with how this turned out so I hope y’all feel the same way!
Characters: Jared Padalecki, bisexual!Reader, Jensen Ackles, Genevieve, Daneel, and a couple others
Word Count: 2368
Warnings: acting out a sex scene, pregnant!Genevieve, descriptions of fandom hate, sexual innuendo
Author’s Note: I’ve never written Jared or SPN cast before, so here’s me dipping my toes in the water. I’ve also seen a lot of actor/wife hate, so that inspired me to write this. Gen, Danneel, and the reader are friends in this story, so if you hate either of them, don’t read this.
Conventions were fun, probably one of the best things you’d ever agreed to do. Before you’d started acting, you’d been fond of traveling, and with the popularity of Supernatural, your convention travels extended out of the United States. You’d only been on the show for a year, but already you’d journeyed to Italy, London, and other parts of Canada you’d longed to see. Granted, you almost always ended them a little drunk, but you loved them just the same.
You’d always been open about your sexuality. Before joining the Supernatural Family, you’d publicly come out as bisexual on a talk show. When you’d successfully nailed the audition for Amanda “Mandy” Williams on Supernatural, the amount of welcome you’d received was staggering. Surprisingly, your courage to speak about your sexuality had inspired several fans to come forward about their own preferences.
What kind of ending do you want for Team Free Will? Dean and Cas? Is it enough to be together? To be on the same side? I'm curious about what other people think would satisfy them.
Hi, Nonnie! Around a month ago, I wrote something about the endgame I believe Sam, Dean and Cas will have and why. I didn’t exactly write what I want; I wrote what I think the show has hinted at or foreshadowed. (If you’re interested, you should click here.)
going to repeat the whole thing, but I’ll sum up the most important things for
our 3 boys. By the way, I must say that I do think Carver has moved from the
heartbreaking ending Kripke would have given us. I think with Carver we have a
little more hope that our boys will get a good ending somehow. Talking about
hope… here is what would satisfy me:
deserves a normal life. He’s always wanted to quit and has been able to do it twice
without remorse (when he went to Stanford and when Dean was in Purgatory). He
can and should easily move on. He should get a love interest, but she SHOULD
NOT be a damsel in distress. She should be a kick ass woman who knows EVERYTHING about Sam, including his life
as a hunter. She should know about monsters and demons and stuff; she should
know what is out there and how to defend herself and her family in case of need.
They both should have their normal life, but -because Sam will always be a Man
of Letters and will always be a complete nerd- they would be able to provide
any kind of lore to Dean. His wife would be by his side all the time, either to
watch a movie, have a birthday picnic or do some research on gorgons and how to
kill them. The two most serious relationships Sam’s had in Supernatural (Jess
and Amelia) were marked by secrets. Sam never told them about his past and the
family business. His endgame would be different. Sam’s love interest would know and understand even though she is
not a hunter and would not want to be one at all. The most important thing
about Sam’s endgame is that HE SHOULD FINALLY GET A FREAKING DOG!
deserves to quit the life for something completely different. I’m not saying he
won’t be a hunter anymore, but it won’t be his priority in life and things will
be different. I believe Dean will be able to let Sam go so that they both can
live their own life. I think that Dean might take some time off now and then to
nest in the Bunker and do stuff that he enjoys (including visiting his nerdy
brother and his awesome sister-in-law), but –because he feels good when he
helps people- if something weird popped up in the news, he wouldn’t hesitate to
go and check. He loves to be on the road, to take Baby for a ride, and to do
what he does best: hunt monsters and save lives. So I’m pretty sure he would
continue doing it. He would even call Sam occasionally to inquire about some
weird ass lore. Of course, Dean would NOT be alone. Dean would find love
because “who cares where happiness comes
from?” and “if it works, it works”
(Dean’s words to Garth in 9x12). Hopefully, Dean will share his life with his
weird, dorky angel.
are you being so hard on everyone?
there’s no way that all of this is what it looks like. No way.
on, man. I know you drank the kool-aid, okay? But come on.
amigo… I know this all looks nuts, but I found it. Love and a family? Who cares where that comes from?
DEAN: I do.
get it. When I first got here, I
COULDN’T LET GO, EITHER. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. But when it
didn’t, I had to accept the truth.
Dean’s mirror in that episode. When Supernatural ends, Dean will be able to let
go and will stop waiting for the other shoe to drop. He will accept the truth
and the love that has been offered to him since an angel gripped him tight and raised
him from perdition.
Cas? As I’ve said before: Cas will choose humanity. Once Dean lets Sam go, Cas
will stay with him not because he has to, not because they have to save the
world, not because there is a mission, not because he screwed up and has to fix
it. NOPE. Castiel will stay with Dean Winchester because he wants to. Because
Castiel’s goal has always been to save Dean Winchester since he was sent to
retrieve the soul of the Righteous Man from hell. Because even when Cas has
always “draped [himself] in the flag of
heaven, […] ultimately, it [has all been] about saving one human, right?” Cas
will be the one saving people and hunting things with Dean because both of them
have a great heart and helping others will always be part of their lives.
Pairing: SamxReaderxDean Word count: 2,161 Warnings: None Author: Brittiny Request: @philthepegacornOkay,
so Y/n is a writer of the show Supernatural (part of the alternate
universe in the French Mistake) and she get transported to the actual
SPN universe. Everyone loves her -she wrote them so she knows them
better than anybody- and she turns out to be a bad ass hunter because of
all her research and knowledge of the monsters. Not necessarily that
she can fight. Their mission is to get her back to her old life. Even
though none of them want her to go. And she ends up liking it there and
A/N: I was told I could pick the pairing, or make it poly. So, of course I went poly :P I didn’t include much hunting, however. I’m sorry T.T
Walking off the set, you waved goodbye to your coworkers. It had been another long day. Between writing up a new script, and making slight changes to the one they were currently filming, you were grateful for the weekend. Sliding into your car, you cracked your back before buckling up. Your car was nothing fancy, a simple 2012 Toyota. Pulling out of the parking lot, you hummed to yourself.
It was a peaceful drive home, and you enjoyed the sunset on your balcony with a glass of wine. It was just another day for you. You crawled into bed at ten, just like every other night.
You stood next to Daniela while Jensen answered questions in his solo panel. One of the staff members strolled in with the bottle of whiskey you personally requested for Jensen. You gave her a thankful smile when she handled the bottle and glass.
“I can pour it, if you want,” She offered.
You shook your head with a smile, “it’s okay, I got it.”
You proceed to pour some of the strong liquor Jensen liked to call ‘apple juice’ into the glass. Your eyes went up to see Jensen on his way to pour himself some water. In that moment Daniela called him, making him turn around to see you standing there with the glass of whiskey on your hand.
“Oh, yes - I was about to pour some stupid water.”
Jensen said through his mic on his way to you and then went back to the middle of the stage. He hissed a little when he took the first swig of the booze. You chuckled softly.
“Thanks for the apple juice, hun,” Jensen said through his mic.
A mic was handled to you, “Anytime.”
Suddenly the crowd started to shout and cheer. You saw some cameras pointing your way, waving your hand, you smiled for them. Jensen turned his head, flashing a grin towards you.
In light of the Studio’s not closing (and my boundless boredom) I made a top 10 list of their films in accordance to how I feel about them, so I’m only including ones that I’ve actually seen…and I haven’t seen some pretty important ones so there.
Ponyo! Everybody loves this movie because it’s ridiculously loveable, and I love it too! I just don’t think it’s that great. The thing I like most about this movie is the animation because I really love the way Hayao Miyazaki animates water. It’s just so damn cool! I really like the setting as well. It’s pretty standard Miyazaki fair, y'know it’s about the environment and stuff. But it’s very pretty and very fun!
9) My Neighbor Totoro
Another movie we all love! And only at number 9. Don’t get me wrong, this movie is great and iconic and is a great, safe way to introduce the concept of death and tragedy to young children, as I know many have. But, I just don’t think there’s that much here for an older audience. Which is fine, but yeah, it doesn’t do all that much for me. Most of the movie is the main characters going about their lives while occasionally running into Totoro. Which, for the record, is the best part. The animation on Totoro is great and you get a real sense of texture and weight. HE JUST LOOKS SO FUZZY.
8) Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind
Okay technically not a Ghibli movie but it has pretty much the exact same creative team so shut up. This movie is epic. I just really love the world here. Post apocalyptic but also really medieval but futuristic with a little steampunk thrown in, it’s great. And the creature animation is fantastic. For me, I don’t personally find it that engaging, but I think the word I would use to describe this movie is interesting. It’s just a really interesting movie. And I like it a lot.
7) Kiki’s Delivery Service
Okay, this movie is so important. I cannot think of a single better movie to show a kid who’s growing up. You know why? Because this movie teaches that feeling sad is okay. When’s the last time you saw that in a movie (it was probably in another Ghibli movie tbh)? Kiki is awesome, she’s determined and mature but is still a kid. And Jiji is just THE BEST SIDE CHARACTER, it’s a really pleasant movie. It’s a good one to watch when your down. I love this movie. It’s great.
6) From up on Poppy Hill
I like this movie for a lot of the same reasons I like Kiki’s Delivery Service. It’s a really quiet, comforting movie. The film takes place just before the Tokyo Olympics, Japan is still recovering from World War II and everyone is ready to throw out the old and bring in the new. So when a historic clubhouse at Umi’s private school is going to be torn down, our heroes band together to stop it. The movie is really simple and straightforward and noticeably devoid of supernatural elements, but it really gives you a sense of place. You really get a feel for what Japan was like in the early 60s. And the movie has a very pretty Japanese pop soundtrack that’s really nice, and there’s a really intimate romance (that’s imo the best one in all of Ghibli). Love it.
5) The Wind Rises
This film is a masterpiece (AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEAT OUT FROZEN FOR BEST ANIMATED PICTURE BUT THAT’S ANOTHER STORY). This is Hayao Miyazaki’s last movie, for real this time. And boy does it show. By telling the tale of a real life genius aviator who is forced to use his creations for evil, Miyazaki ultimately shows us creativity is fleeting. That you can only be a genius for so long, commenting on his own career in the process. Miyazaki felt like he just didn’t have much more creativity left in him. Whether or not he was right, we’ll never know. But at least we know why he retired. It’s kind of like The Tempest of Miyazaki films, and it’s amazing.
4) Princess Mononoke
Oh yeah. Now we’re getting down to it. This movie is epic. In fact, this movie so epic, it gives Lord of the Rings a run for its money. I mean DAMN this movie is huge. Our heroes travel over vast mountains and fields and engage in huge, epic battles, which by the way, are so brutal that the violence is never glorified. It’s definitely the most violent animated film I’ve seen, and the creature animation is GLORIOUS, and Ancient Japan is just as great a setting as you’d expect it to be. So good.
3) Porco Rosso
God I love this movie. Miyazaki knew exactly what kind of film he wanted to make, and boy did he make it. In it we have Porco, our Humphrey Bogart-esque loner who’s best friend is his plane, and he’s being hunted down by Bounty Hunters and the newly Fascist Italian Government. And he’s a pig. For some reason (well it’s probably a metaphor). And did I mention that this takes place in an alternate history on the Mediterranean Coast after WWI where fighter pilots use militarized sea planes to fight? Oh yeah. There’s that. This movie has great character development, a host of entertaining side characters, and it’s actually really funny, and has some great action scenes. It’s criminally underrated and I enjoy it immensely. Go watch it.
2) Howl’s Moving Castle
I’m a sucker for a few things, and a few of those things happen to be French things, Steampunk things, and WWI history. AND HOWL’S MOVING CASTLE HAS ALL OF THAT in one way or another, so it’s no surprise that I like this movie. A lot. I also really like Sophie’s character arch. For those of you who don’t know, Sophie has never believed that she’s beautiful, and is cursed to be old, but the curse deteriorates the more confident she gets. It’s just really empowering and amazing.
1) Spirited Away
(Okay I know original right) but SERIOUSLY this movie is insane I don’t even know where to begin. The movie starts of with Chihiro in the process of moving, and she’s terrified, and then she gets trapped in the spirit world and her parents are cursed. From there on, this movie, is unbelievable. One thing I love about this movie is that Chihiro gets scared. She gets so scared. But she keeps going. It teaches kids it’s okay to be scared. And I just love that this movie feels so lonely. Which might sound like a weird way to describe a movie but I think it fits. The scene on the train (gifed above) is maybe my favorite scene ever in a movie. You just get this feeling. Like you’ve been there. Like you’ve sat there quietly in a scary situation having no idea what’s coming next. It’s almost indescribable but it really speaks to me. And I just keep coming back to loneliness. I feel like every character here is afraid and lonely (except for a few). It’s just so different, and I find that oddly comforting. Because we feel lonely all the time don’t we? But media never seems to show that! We have our character and their group of friends. But here, we have our character, and a few outcasts, who I can’t say are friends. They’re just sort of brought together by their common alienation. And when Chihrio returns home, she’s not afraid of moving anymore. And if that’s not comforting as fuck, then I don’t know what is.
So, I was asked to recommend some Naruto Fanfiction after my last Httyd fanfic rec. Warning, I am a multi shipper. As in, there is very little I don’t ship. Actually, any good fic can make me love a pairing. So, because the Naruto Shipping wars are especially harsh, I’ll group them by pairing. ( And because there are so damn many of them, I won’t give long speeches about why I loved them, so….) So, without further ado: the Naruto Fanfic Rec!
Narusaku - Do you remember love? by Digifruit Naruto dies and then wakes up as a twelve-year-old genin. He discovers that the shadow clone technique duplicates his soul each time he uses it, and he is cursed to relive the tragedy that is his life over and over again for every soul he had duplicated. This author can make any idea come to life, so I truly recommend any story by Digifruit, especially (but not necessarily), when you like team 7 and/or Narusaku. Read it, love it.
NaruSasu(naru… Sasu…. Naru… Oh who cares) - Afraid of the Dark by Jelp Sometimes the monsters are closer than you think. NaruSasuNaru This author writes fluff and horror in an equally entrancing way. For an unexpected journey, read this stuff. It’s good.
- Slumberland by Ladelle When Naruto’s world literally fades to black, he is left with one resolve: to find the one who saved him. Naru/Sasu/Naru Another Author that just surprises you by taking roads less traveled and blowing you off your chair.
- Incubus by Kodak-85 Sasuke couldn’t keep himself awake, the back of his eyelids dashed heavily with crimson. Until Naruto grinned at him and talked of demons, of blood, and would he like some coffee? AU, NaruSasuNaru Kodak-85 writes weird stuff. Of the very best kind. If you’re into supernatural and horror-ish stories, this is your pick.
- Torrid by KageKitsuneXXX Sasuke believes that a little thing like marriage should never get in the way of a perfect relationship. Unfortunately for him, not everyone agrees. NaruSasu AU Engaging AU story? Check. Interesting Family dynamics? Check. Steamy romance? Double Check. This author is a goldmine.
- Exile by Oku Moku Banished from Konoha for crimes he did not commit, Shikamaru finds himself abandoned by everyone and everything. When he is rescued by ninja from Suna, he begins anew as his life in Konoha becomes nothing but a bitter memory he only wants to forget. What made me love this fic was the way the author delves into Suna’s culture, along with the budding romance between Shikamaru and Temari and the thread of Konoha in the background.
- In the shadows by Ellisama Having lost many good ANBU in the invasion, Tsunade sends Shikamaru into ANBU training. How does this simple change alter the entire future of rookie nine? And how will he cope with living his ‘normal life’, while hiding his true occupation? Shikatema This one is a shameless self advertisement, but hey, it’s my fic, of course I would recommend it to others! It’s about Shikamaru joining ANBU and slowly but surely losing his way.
SakuIno My name is Haruno Sakura by zephyras My name is Haruno Sakura. I am a straight-A student and am eligible for a scholarship to the top university in the country. My name is Haruno Sakura and I live in a cardboard box. AU, Modern. Sakura-centric, eventual Ino/Sakura. A modern time drama of Sakura’s life and characteristic unrelenting determination to reach her dream. Wonderfully written.
Sasuke-centric (He’s a special guy… )
- In good company by Fool.0 This will sound a little ridiculous, no matter how Sasuke phrases it. “I see dead people” is embarrassingly tacky, and “I’m half-spirit” seems like something Sakura might say when she’s stoned sky high. So he settles for a shrug. This is Sasuke + Sas + Puberty + Ghosts of dead Hokages = Hilarity. An amazing story that left me cracking up. Has some (unrequited) yaoi, some Sasuke-hits-on-girls-because-puberty, and just overall angst and fluff. Because, you know, Ninja puberty.
I’m a fake by shattered glass lilies Uchiha Sasuke has always had issues. AU. One-Shot. NaruSasu. One-sided NaruGaa. Before my depression I was taken in by this fic. After my depression I felt a certain kind of kinship to it. A truly one of a kind fic, that does include some Yoai, but is really about depression.
Gen fic - It’s for a good cause, I swear! by Sarah1281 After receiving a time travel jutsu as payment for a mission, the original four members of Team 7 each get a chance to go back to one event in their life and change it. Surely they will use such an awesome power responsibly…right? Don’t count on it. Basically, THE team 7 goes back in time parody…. that happens to have a better plot than half of them combined.
- The people we’ve become by Zephyras At first, no one could’ve guessed the consequences of Uzumaki Naruto’s disappearance. However, seven years later, Uchiha Sasuke and Haruno Sakura are rogue ninja, Team Seven assembles once more, and they all have secrets. Naruto/Sasuke, Sakura/Lee. This is hands down in my top 3 of the Naruto fandom. This woman, the worlds she creates…. Amazing. This is THE team 7 goes rogue fic, with an amazing characterization for all of them. Has some Narusasu and SakuLee, but because it is all about team 7 and the romance is far and in-between, I’m putting it into the gen category.
- Crossing Borders by Ellisama One year after the war, Naruto and his team return to Wave. Hidden in plain sight, he finds answers to questions he never even knew he had as he uncovers his father’s past. A take on Minato’s past. What if Minato was born in Wave? Ninja-verse. I always wondered what it would be like if Naruto found his family from his father’s side, and they turned out to be not-so-fabulous, so I wrote a story about it. (The last shameless self-advertisement, I swear!)
Consider this a part one, because this was just all I could think of at the moment, not everything I liked. Hang in for a part 2 (someday…)
Hey! Long time no see, right? Listen, I know we don’t talk much, but this is pretty serious. I saw what Sam and Dean said and… well, I needed to chime in with my two cents. I may not have gotten to talk to you much, but I’ll be damned if I let you feel this way about you.
PEOPLE CAN ALWAYS USE MORE
POSITIVITY AND ACCEPTANCE!
Summary; You are feeling insecure and angry and confused.
Chuck comes to you to help.
Title: Chuck Loves You
Parings: Reader (any gender) x Chuck
A/N: I I hope this is something that gets spread far and wide. I struggle a lot with being okay with myself and how my
brain works. I know a lot of other people do too. But, there are people like you out there. There are
people who can sorta understand your struggle (everyone’s is different and
unique). There are people who want to help you and want you to Always Keep Fighting and remember that You Are Not Alone. I love you all and my
inbox and ask box is ALWAYS open, even if you just need to go on anon and vent.
Stay awesome and kind everyone and know you are loved <3
Hate. Confusion. Anger. Sadness. Insecurity. Loneliness. To
name just a few. No matter what you did or what you said, they wouldn’t leave.
No amount of self-help books, positive self-talk, people
saying “oh I know how you feel”, none of it made it any better.
You weren’t even sure really how it happened, but you can’t
remember a time before this. A time where you felt completely comfortable with
yourself and your life.
People have let you down. People have hurt you. People have
left, and others have stayed too long.
You have hurt yourself. You have wanted to run away from it
all, maybe even end it all.
You sat there alone, wondering why the world had to be so
Why can’t people accept each other? Why can’t they support
each other? Why do people need to always fit in? Why do I always have to feel
left out? Or judged? Or less than?
am totally fascinated with the Sam-Dean-Cas
dynamic. I love it. I can’t get enough of it. I, personally, view it
very much as a love triangle, with Sam-Dean being platonic brotherly
love, and Dean-Cas being romantic. It’s painful, it’s dramatic, and I
LOVE IT. I know I’m in the minority (although @elizabethrobertajones
and I had a lovely mutual venting session about some of these
issues). I seriously see these three as one of the greatest fictional love triangles ever.
weeks I’ve been trying to find a way to explain the triangle, and I’m slowly realizing that I’m not going to be able to do it all in one sitting.
I’ll just try to get it out one semi-cohesive section at a time.
Today, I’m focusing on the way romance has been portrayed in the show
thus far, along with the codependency in season 8. (Most of this section will focus on Sam and Dean.)
entire Carver era finally shoved a spotlight on the codependency
it for what it was. Instead
of just poking fun at it like the show has done before, the audience
was shown just how
isolating and destructive codependent relationships can be. Season
8 showed us the isolation brought
on by the relationship itself, rather than outside forces.
Seasons 9 and 10 showed us the destruction, and season 11 showed us
the consequences and, finally,
has to change.
(This is why I kinda
the Carver era, even with all of it’s plot holes and missteps.)
i love your sam opinions so: how do you feel about sam NOT going back to law school? how do you feel about sam learning and growing from the ideals he had when he was 19 and realizing he'd feel more fulfilled as, say, a social worker? it's just one of my pet peeves where people write sam's happy ending as going back to stanford to do the degree he started so fucking long ago as if his character hasn't changed at all.
That honestly bugs me, too.
Canon-wise I’m of the opinion that Sam’s desire to be a lawyer has long-since dissolved. Now, this comes from my personal perspective where my life experience sort of crosses over with Sam’s. I wanted to be a lawyer, too, when I was a kid. Went to the law academy in high school. My ultimate goal was to become an FBI agent. I was honestly in love with the justice system.
That has changed, drastically, from my mid-twenties and into my thirties. (Sam and I are also nearly the same age.)
When you look at it from his perspective, you’ve got two questions:
Was Sam in love with the law in the first place?
Does he have any respect for the justice system as it stands?
I find it totally arguable that Sam didn’t have a real passion for the law in the first place. It was a place to find a good, stable career, yes, and he seemed to have been good at it, however it ran in wide opposition to all he knew.
First of all, he could have loved the idea of going into the justice system, the legal system, or law enforcement merely as a giant Fuck You to John. Their dad so obviously lived on the other side of the law and VERY obviously screwed his sons by making it really next-to-impossible that they could find a legitimate place in society outside of hunting.
John didn’t care about their gradeschool education enough to stay in one place or make sure Dean graduated. He was opposed - viciously opposed - to Sam seeking higher education. They were raised on less-than-legitimate jobs and schemes, encouraged to run credit card scams, and were clearly not discouraged from racking up criminal records. Dean’s arrest was clearly a blip on the radar and more of a School of Hard Knocks lesson than a real threat and certainly wasn’t any real form of parenting. To quote a man: if you get caught, that just means you fuckin’ up. That’s the only lesson John wanted to drive home. You get caught, that could mean your ass - you get caught, that takes you away from your family - you get caught again, we will forget about you.
Did Sam have any reason to love the law in the first place? No. Not really. Mainly in opposition to his father, that’s all. And certainly not in service to his father. It’s not like he’d turn back to his family once he had a law licence and use it for their purposes somehow. If anything, the law only separated Dean from him once and caused his brother harm.
If nothing else, he might love the law because it was a really above-board means to an end. It was a pole-vault into a creditable and stable life with either an awesome income or as a means to do good in the world.
Now. Doing good in the world is, of course, a subjective thing.
As a grown up I see (and I’m sure Sam sees) a lot of injustice in the justice system. In the day and age of Tamir Rice, Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, etc., would Sam see the justice system as a system worth serving from the inside or outside? I doubt it.
Punks become lawyers. That’s kind of what I wanted to do. So did my friends in the academy. We wanted to be lawyers to rock the system from the inside.
That’s easier said than done considering that, in order to make a living and get to the point of jolting the system, you actually have to assimilate.
Sam might think that’s worth the effort. Especially now that he knows how to act like a grown-up and is severely intimidating in a good suit. But not form where he’s arrived in his life.
To the second question, I direct your attention to 02.19 and every episode since then when the boys have been arrested. Too many unseen forces, which are ignored and disregarded by the legal system, impact people in the SPN universe. Sam would see no justice in the fact that the justice system refuses to remove that blindfold.
Yes, Sam acknowledges that he and Dean have killed lots of people and lots of creatures and that some of them shouldn’t be dead. Maybe there should be some real measure of justice in the world of hunting and men of letters. But, as the current season is establishing, as far as hunting goes in the world today, the US is the Wild West while places like the UK are clearly little Edens of progress and understanding – though not necessarily justice.
So far the UK MOL seem like they have a lot more interest in being superior than in meting out any real measure of justice. They are absolutist in their Ministry of Magic No Muggles Allowed To Watch type policies and that absolutism has seemingly led directly to fascism. Sam was seriously picked up, tortured, and grilled for doing the best he can in America, a land forsaken by the ~superior UK MOL who are so studied and amazing that they…. apparently can’t lift a finger to help the United States out except to say “What a shit hole! Let’s pick up the only guys there who are trying to fix the problem and torture them to death!”
Makes a lot of sense.
Somehow I don’t think Sam would be in love with any of the institutional justice he’s witnessed in his life. So, no, I don’t think he’d be complacent in the halfassed justice of the system he tried to enter via law school. And I don’t even think he’d enter the justice system to try to shed light on arrests that are actually the fault of supernatural sources.
Letting himself and Dean be the arbiters in whatever small ways they can is the best option of those, honestly. At least they’ve seen so much of this life that they can decide not to pick fights, not to kill everyone they come across just in case their meatsuits can be saved, etc. From Lenore on out, I think they’ve been learning a lot and that’s a lot more important than the blind “justice” I’ve seen from anyone else in the series, up to and especially including the British Men of Letters.
Therefore: In my opinion, it would be a WILD stretch for Sam to return to law school as a HEA ending. He’s dead like ten times over as far as public records go, which makes him at least somewhat recognizable, even if he wasn’t 90 feet tall, and I really don’t think his passion for that kind of apple-pie life could return.
I honestly don’t think he’d return to the apple-pie life via social services, either, really. I mean, it’s a better chance than the justice system, I’ll grant you that.
I work in family services, now, and I…. really don’t belong there lmaooooo
I am a callous person. I don’t have the respect for families and babies and whatever that the other people I work with do. They remind me of Sam a whole lot - they hear a sad story and ask if everyone turned out okay. They donate anything and everything they can. They come up with their own food drives and projects. I answer a phone and direct people to services. When I have to hand my phones over to my coworkers to answer for an hour, sometimes I’ll come back and they’ll be like reading them an entire encyclopedia of resources where they can get help, plus they have all the personal cell phone numbers for the people running those programs just in case the main line doesn’t pick up. That sort of thing.
Life is sacred and when a child cries an angel loses its wings and all that. Yeah, VERY not me. I don’t understand how these people work.
Though I’ve said (and I stand by the argument) that I think Sam is childfree, I don’t think he’s as, well, empty and callous as I am. Yeah, I think he’d be very involved in social services.
I think he’d make a damn good teacher. I think he’d make a good politician if he were okay with losing a lot because he doesn’t play the game right.
As far as canon HEA, for a few years now it’s been my opinion that Sam would settle down to a less-than-part-time hunting lifestyle and write a journal of all his experiences in detail, then move on to writing what essentially amounts to textbooks on different supernatural subjects. He would write the books that get passed down to future Sams.
Alright. I banged on about that for a while. Hope it answers your questions.
Derek wakes up from his afternoon nap to find that his dick is gone. It is literally gone; there is nothing there, and he’s as flat as a Ken doll.
You’ve reached the voicemail of Dr. Alan Deaton, leave a message at the tone.
Derek curses and decides to drive down to the clinic, only to find a definite “Closed” sign and no signs of Deaton anywhere.
He calls Scott.
“Oh, Deaton went out of town, man, what’s up? Is there a supernatural emergency?"
Derek winces, and looks down at himself. His pants feel oddly empty and there’s a huge part of him that is screaming, "YES, MY DICK IS GONE AND I WANT IT BACK RIGHT NOW” but he has no inclination of telling Scott any of this. “No, nothing is going on,” Derek tells Scott, and hangs up.
This probably has something to do with the fairy mound they had relocated out of the Preserve yesterday. Derek thought the meeting had gone well, but obviously not.
Anyways, it’s not life threatening. Some sort of magical prank, probably. He’ll deal with it until Deaton gets back. He’ll just…go about the rest of his day without his dick. Yeah.
Hi! In answering another anon, you mentioned that the writers have to make up their minds about what they're doing with Cas so they can write a proper storyline for him, and I'd like to here more about your opinion on that because I completely agree! You don't have to answer this, I was just interested.
here, I wish this could be short. But there are dreams that cannot be. :p
basically, what we’ve seen with Cas now for a couple of seasons; these writers
can’t make up their minds. To everyone with a pair of functioning eyes, it’s
obvious that they keep tiptoeing around his character, unable to pick a side,
and THAT is the very thing that’s keeping them from writing him the proper
story line that so many of us crave for our favorite character.
Even for the more optimistic people in this fandom; when you look back on the past couple of years and look deep inside your heart, you know that the writers have been half-assing Castiel’s story line on a lot of occasions. The ball has been dropped too many times
when it comes to his feelings and emotions, because these writers apparently
have a difficult line to walk when it comes to Castiel and his relationship
with the Winchesters.
‘We have to keep mentioning that he’s family, Dean
cares, TEAM FREE WILL, he’s part of the trio!!!’ But then there is this other side to it ‘Who are we going to please? The bro-only
fans who absolutely hate him? Or the also rather large part of the fandom that
is in fact here for Cas/Misha/Team Free will?’
time, they end up keeping Cas around; letting Misha leave is not an option,
they already learned that lesson the hard way during season 7.
And this is
what I meant when I said that they HAVE to pick a side if they want to properly
write (or end) the story of this character. Because roughly, they have three
Finally admit, with actions (not a few throwaway lines throughout the season),
that Cas means something to the Winchesters, them letting him know this, and him
truly being a part of their team and the main plot instead of him being separated
from them for most of the season because that’s the only thing the writers know
how to do.
Cas is very
important to a lot of fans, so him only ever giving giving giving, but never
getting anything in return from the only few people who supposedly love him…
that’s the most unsatisfying thing imaginable. (And I mean the familial kind of love, I’m not even talking about Destiel/romance, that’s a whole different matter.) Also, it makes literally NO
SENSE whatsoever for Cas to keep blindly serving the Winchesters if they never show
any gratitude or appreciation in return. If the show wants to keep the 'Cas and the
Winchesters’ thing going, they would have to make it very clear once and for
all that it’s a two way street, even if it pisses off the only-bro fans.
you make that decision, you can go back to writing a proper story line for Cas.
the bro-only part of the fandom, by making it clear that Cas is NOT the
Winchesters’ family, instead making him into an ally who sometimes works with
the Winchesters (much like Crowley). Of course the catch here is, with a
character like Cas who is a fan favorite, and has so much love to give; to
balance it out you need to have someone who gives him what the Winchesters
can’t. Some family of his own. Some other characters that he has a chance to
form a bond with; he’s earned that much after being on the show for 8 seasons.
And as much as I love Destiel/Team Free Will, if that is just not in the cards,
I think Cas deserves some loved ones of his own.
loved ones can come in many forms (plenty of forms that I could enjoy as well, as a Cas fan), because the show has had all of the chances and opportunities in
the world to do this; Cas was already getting along with Charlie, so them
keeping her alive (or bringing her back) and joining Team Cas as his bestie would’ve
been awesome. Then there is the opening of Claire and the wayward girls (Jody,
Alex, possibly Donna), which could totally work out. And of course lots of cool
angels who had excellent chemistry with Cas/Misha to bring back (Gabriel,
Balthazar, Gadreel), to possibly give Cas that brother that cares so that he
can have his own Sam/Dean like story line -hopefully a more healthy version though- to
satisfy that part of the fandom that just wants someone to care about Cas for
honestly, pick any of the above relationships for Cas. Because I’m not picky at all, but after being on this show
for 8 years as one of the good guys, the least that this character deserves are
a few loved ones to surround himself with. And if those loved ones are not the Winchesters, do pick
a side, and allow someone else to fill that space, and give Cas some emotional resolve every once in a while, someone to truly turn to like Sam and Dean turn to each other.
you make that decision, you can go back to writing a proper story line for Cas.
you honestly can’t be arsed to do either of these things; write him off the
show. When you have a character with all of this potential and a charming actor
to go with it, and you honestly can’t be bothered to figure out what to do with said character in order to include him properly… There is really no other option but to let it go.
you make that decision, you can go back to writing a proper story line for Cas (although in this case, it will end in heartbreak).
thing with TV shows is; you can’t please everyone. You’re always going to have
to let one group down. But if you forever stay in the middle and dodge
everything in the fear of letting a part of the fandom down, you can’t write
what needs to be written. You can’t do what needs to be done to do your main
when it comes to Cas/Supernatural, this is a decision waaay overdue. And I’m praying for someone to finally make that decision anyway for Castiel’s sake, even if it doesn’t work out in my favor.
