The Pitch Lake. La Brea. Trinidad and Tobago.

Located at La Brea in southwest Trinidad, the Pitch Lake is the largest natural deposit of asphalt in the world. Known to many as the 8th wonder of the world, the lake is the major supplier of asphalt to the international market and is one of the many tourist attractions on the islands.

All Decked Out Like a Cowboy's Dream

CW: food mentions, homophobia mentions, being publicly out

When Jack and Bitty started publicly dating, the internet, well…the internet broke, just a little.

Though they were only known in their respective circles – most of Bitty’s colleagues hadn’t heard of Jack and vice versa – it was a big deal. Bitty was suddenly hailed as the “gay Carrie Underwood” and Jack had to order a moratorium on all jokes about his sexy “tractor.” They got the usual “keep your private life private” criticism from the AFA people (“Would that I could, y’all.”) and some nasty remarks from sports commentators, but it wasn’t as if either of them was coming out for the first time.

Mostly they both just had to suffer through the Blue-Eyed Jack memes. It seemed a fair price to pay for being able to date openly.

Hemingway, Prapso Shih Tzu (2 y/o), Granville Island Market, Vancouver, BC, CAN • “He toured with my band all over the US and Mexico. He’s a punk rock dog. He destroys every toy you give him – if you say, ‘Here’s a nice toy’, he’ll tear it apart. People ask if he’s a Tibetan Terrier, but both his parents are Shih Tzus. He has a recessive genetic mutation.” @hemingwayexner

Just over two months ago, I left Vanuatu after a year of island life. I’ve got an island count of 12 out of 83; not so bad. Classic Vanuatu memories: the weird noise that geckos make, the overpowering smell of pineapples in the market during pineapple season, having a tan (kind of) while being a redhead, the most beautiful and dramatic sunsets I’ve ever seen and getting up close with active volcanoes.

Here are some my favourite photos from beautiful Vanuatu.
