Can you stand alone?

Who are you? Who are you when you are alone? Who are you when nobody is watching?

On the other hand, who are you when you are with people, with your friends?

This summer was a very interesting experience for me. I got to participate in a summer program known as big books–It’s basically canvassing (door to door literature evangelism), but it’s a little bit different from the magabooking form of canvassing. Magabooking is selling (or leaving on donations, because we don’t technically sell) individual soft-cover EGW books, kids books, prophecy DVDs for donations starting at $10 each. (They are called magabooks because they look sorta like magazines). In the magabook program, you get to work with leaders, people who drive you around to houses, make sure you’re safe, come help you out by delivering books and training you, and are constantly communicating with you through walkie-talkies. Big books is a little bit different for a few reasons. You are your own leader. You get your own map, plan where you are going to go, and you are literally out there by yourself working. Nobody is there to see if you are doing your job right. Nobody is there to tell you to wake up at a certain time, sleep at a certain time, etc.

But even still back then, I had the work of canvassing pushing me through the summer. Now that the summer is completely over, now that iShare is over, now that campmeeting and all the spiritually nourishing programs are pretty much over, what am I to do?

Who am I? Who are you? Are you able to stand alone? Are you able to stand when there’s nobody there to stand with you?

Prayer Starter: God, I know that Your timing is perfect, even when I grow tired of waiting. Help me to trust in You and rest in Your plan for me. “This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed. Youth Rush vespers last night was so packed of youth that we didn’t even all fit to sit on the floor! Getting to see my students from our summer program was SUCH a huge blessing. Thank you Lord for each and everyone of them. I love them so much! #youthrush #sandiego #team #students #advetist #friday #night #vespers #isharechrist #brothers #sisters #secc #lovethem

This picture of Mary Magdalene reminds me so much of myself. The worst thing we could do is forget where we have come from; where Christ has brought us out of. It’s easy to become lukewarm in our Christian walk and think we’re so well off once we become Christian. But I’ve come I the realization that I need to remember the things of old so that I don’t forget what my Jesus did for me. He brought me out of the bondage of sin and my “righteousness” is just filthy rags. I no longer grieve over my past but rather, remembering who I used to be reminds me of how gracious and loving Christ has been for taking my place on that cross and for giving me another chance with Him; though I forsook H, fled, and nailed Him to that cross many times. I thank Jesus so much for all He has done. “Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God. Remember therefore how ou have received and heard; hold fast and repent…” (Revelation 3:2-3) #jesus #christ #saved #forgiven #called #loved #marymagdalene #new #life #scripture #isharechrist
