Tears in the Rain

Eventually we all have to move on,
So I don’t blame you for deciding to go.
But before you are truly gone,
I must ask you to walk slow.

Go slowly so I can walk with you—
So we can talk while my chances last,
And I can ask you in the way I kiss you
Not to base the future on the past.

But you will refuse to listen me
No matter how hard I try.
You’ll keep walking as if right through me
And I will begin to cry.

Then the sky will begin to shed tears
To see me in so much pain,
And it will send down silver spears
And soak us both in sweet rain.

And when on the corner of a cobblestone street
You say goodbye and walk away,
If you look back then you might see
My tears mingling with the rain.
