“Why do you put stickers on everything?”

“To show that they’re mine”

———

After several window tilting, minimizing and feigning to browse artworks I finally managed to draw homo in front of my parents. Oh my goodness. Someone said I should draw dan stroking phil while he’s on his lap but then I got carried away and drew stickers aha – drew this while listening to smooth jazz and sunday morning. how very fitting

Day 21 / 31  #‎MonthOfPraise‬

I normally don’t weigh in on things like this, but it’s actually something that’s very close to my heart. The US supreme court have legalised homosexual marriage in all 50 states this week. As someone who is straight, but struggles with the reality of homosexual attractions and feelings, I just don’t feel like I can be quiet anymore.

Just because the “laws of the land” decide to make something legal or “okay” doesn’t justify it, or make it right - it just makes it popular. I believe the Word of God and I know that homosexuality is not natural and it’s not something that we need to glorify.

My struggle is not something that I’m ashamed of, however I am not gay, nor am I calling myself that. It’s a struggle that I have. And we all battle something, addictions to porn, eating disorders, drugs, gossiping uncontrollably, jealousy, lying, greed etc.

I’m speaking out because I know the reality of the struggle. I know so many young people, often creatives, like myself who struggle with this. Enough is enough, it’s time to take off the shame and help our brothers and sisters.

To struggle is human nature. What we DO with that struggle is our character. It’s up to us. Believe me, I have trusted people around me who I am journeying this with and I fully believe in restoration and healing from this, but until that happens - even if it doesn’t, I choose to praise God. I choose to walk in faith and do my absolute best to live in righteousness, integrity and purity.

True freedom isn’t making something legal. True freedom is knowing the One who made the rules and trusting His leading and walking your journey with Him, laying down the struggle at the foot of the cross every day and choosing not to succumb to it. It’s hard, believe me - this post is made through tears - but I hope you see my heart and I pray that you’re encouraged to pursue true freedom in Christ - whatever your struggle may be.

I’ve tried to turn away from God so many times. I’ve tried everything else. I’ve spent and chased and invested and used. In the end: Where else could I go? Nothing else fulfills me when I find it; nothing else forgives me when I fail it. No one takes me back like He does.

Christians cause so much hurt and harm. Even when they offer love, it is a hurtful and attacking love that feels a lot like hate. They can’t agree with one another about what they believe but still think everyone should believe in it. They are on the wrong side of history and society and in years to come all christians will be looked at with the same disdain as we look at christians groups like westboro baptist and the kkk. Christianity is the hate group of this time, and time will expose them as such.
