is this even a cosplay

I have a serious question that I wish to be answered seriously:
Does it count as whitewashing when a white person cosplays a poc character?
I just saw a debate on this and it gave me pause for thought.
I personally never even considered it as such, because I think that cosplay isn’t about physical resemblance to a character, but about dressing up as that character and trying to make them come alive by acting like they would.
So I don’t have an issue with white people cosplaying asian characters as much as I don’t have a problem with black people cosplaying white ones, or short people cosplaying tall ones and overweight ones playing slim ones. As long as the costume and the act is convincing, I don’t care about anything else.
Is that wrong of me? If so, can you explain why?

Sliding into your asks to tell you that your Velma cosplay is literal goals. Like how even? You make a perfect Velma.

I’m so flattered that you’d think so! Thank you! ❤️ It may be a simple cosplay but I did put a lot of thought into this one and I love how it turned out!

how to be a schnee: own only white and light blue outfits ( and tiaras )

did a super simple and quick makeup test for Genji, still thinking about gluing actual fibers for the brows but there’s time for that later. There’s still a month till the con and I pray my skin won’t turn against me a week before (ó_ò)

Some of the paladins being like really testy about being stuck in the one outfit they left in, because “these are like, my least favorite socks!” (Lance) but some of them being fine with it, like Pidge (“I always wear this shirt anyway. It’s my ‘sneaking’ shirt.”)

Crazy the difference makeup and 12 years in Azkaban can make, huh? ;) My makeup on the left was done by the amazing @aegiskitty ; I did the Sirius cosplay makeup on the right. I’m actually more familiar with fx makeup than the regular stuff, so I definitely needed some pointers. Pointer one: we nixed the beard on the left.

Here’s my breakdown of what happened at C2E2!

I spent Friday attending professional panels for the comics industry, which probably deserves a post of its own, but I don’t think anyone is interested in me talking shop. But Saturday was devoted to Agents of SHIELD stuff with Iain and Liz. I had an amazing time and so many awesome things happened. Truly it was the best con experience I’ve ever had and, as @bigfunnywords (HEY Tumblr finally let me tag you!) said, I lived my best life. I’ll try to do the tl;dr version but this will probably get long.

Putting the rest behind a cut for your scrolling convenience.

LBM17 is over, but I have a little gem for you: Visiting my favorite “item shop” on the convention. I went there like 5 times a day (because it was nice and cheap) and greeted the cute cashier this way upon entering. Always.

The convention was amazing. Being Ardyn for three days (instead of two) was the best thing ever. Really. It was so much fun meeting all the other FFXV Cosplayers. Maybe a small selfie-post will follow later. (and i have a cute little clip of Noctis)
