What's your favorite Rachel story? Like something funny that she did or had happened to her or something kind or sad or whatever what's your favorite moment of her life?
So many! That’s hard to choose. Probably one of the first ones I came across. This is Austin’s story:
A few weeks after Rachel’s funeral, Rachel’s dad was visiting her grave and saw a man watering the flowers on the gravesite. Darrell introduced himself and told the man that he was Rachel’s father and asked if he had known Rachel. The man’s name was Austin and he began to tell Darrell about the day he met Rachel. It was a few weeks before the Columbine shooting happened; Austin was driving home after a bad day at work. The weather was bad and he realized he had a flat tire, and no flashlight or umbrella. He started chang- ing the tire in the rain when a little red Acura pulled up. Rachel got out and began to help him change the tire; he thought he had met an angel. A few weeks later he saw her picture on the cover of the Denver Post as a Columbine victim. He went to her funeral and vowed to follow Rachel’s example and start a chain reaction of kindness and compassion. Now, Austin and his family carry on Rachel’s Legacy through their own acts of kindness and compassion.
It was one of the first videos about Rachel I had found, I can’t find it! Austin ended up naming his daughter after Rachel.
