I’m horrified that Mary didn’t hand over what she’d stolen to save Cas’s life. Somehow, she does believe that the MoL are still trying to do good here, and she’s convince their system works. She said as much to Wally while they were on their stakeout.
BUT. She also is unaware that her boys have a LONG history with the Colt, and that it had been the weapon that Dean had used to kill another Prince of Hell back in 2.22.
(not to mention the fact that he’d used it to kill the phoenix in 6.18, since this episode literally used the same musical cue from their gunfight when Ramiel pulled out his stopwatch)
And now the nasty old BMoL are in possession of arguably one of the most dangerous weapons in the world. The fact that Mary doesn’t get its full history, and the ties to her family’s history and would just ~hand it over~ to Ketch… I’m extremely dubious here.
Hopefully Ketch doesn’t know how to make the bullets for it. Far as I know Sam and Dean are the only ones left who DO know how, since Ruby and Bobby are dead.
But I think Mary’s not quite so confident that the MoL are really in the right here now…
And unlike Cas in s6, her partnership with the MoL isn’t hinging on her need to stop the war in Heaven or another apocalypse. Hopefully she’ll come clean before she goes too far…
The fact she brought in Wally as an excuse to get Sam and Dean’s help on this “case” so they “wouldn’t ask the wrong questions” made me VERY CONCERNED about the lengths she’ll go to… And nearly letting Cas DIE rather than hand the Colt back to Remiel… well, the fact she referred to him as one of her sons at the end of the episode makes me think she’s reconsidering that act, as well.
At least, for her sake, I certainly hope she is.
