is partially responsible for this

anonymous asked:

If Genji and Mercy ever had a huge argument, the kind where they screamed at each other and then gave each other cold shoulder, what would the argument be about? Who do you think will give in and apologize first?

I’ve answered something similar to this before here.

Neither of them are really the ‘screaming’ type when it comes to arguments. It’s more like they’d snap at each other until they both go off and sulk before they say something they’ll regret. But I guess if there was something for them to argue over, it would be the fact that Mercy’s still trying to ‘cure’ Reaper (and it’s also a preventative measure to keep Talon from making more Reapers) and Genji’s like, “Okay no, he’ll definitely kill you if you get too close and I know you’re still guilty over being partially responsible for his current state but I’ve nearly watched you die before from him and I seriously cannot go through that again.” So I mean… both sides have good points and it’s this really angry, angsty thing for both of them. Neither of them likes staying mad at the other for too long, but I think Mercy would sulk a bit longer because she would probably register Genji’s “I really really really don’t want to see you die because of this,” as “I don’t think you can do this.” When she’s mad she tends to throw herself into her work which means that she’s shoving her feelings down because she doesn’t want to deal with them, so she can generally stay angry longer. Genji’s a lot more in touch with his feelings thanks to Zenyatta and would apologize first.

YO THIS GIRL JUST STRAIGHT UP CAME OVER TO MY LITTLE TABLE AT THE FOOD COURT IN THE MALL AND KNOCKED MY SHIT OFF OF IT CLAIMING I WAS HAVING SEX WITH HER DUDE. I ALMOST GOT INTO A FIGHT WITH A HEAVY SET RACIALLY AMBIGUOUS WOMAN. HER BOYFRIEND WAS THERE AND CAME OVER AND THEY STARTED ARGUING ABOUT HOW I WASN'T REALLY THE GIRL AND IM LIKE BRUH, MY LOADED FRIES THOUGH. I WAS PISSED. I MADE THAT GIRL GET ME ANOTHER LOADED FRY AND LEMONADE AND TOLD HER TO LEAVE HIS WACK AS IF HE MAKES HER ACT LIKE THAT. ESPECIALLY IF HE DIDNT EVEN HAVE MONEY ON HIM TO BUY ME ANOTHER LOADED FRY KNOWING DAMN WELL HE WAS PARTIALLY RESPONSIBLE TOO. THERE IS A MORAL TO THIS STORY AND I FEEL LIKE I'D BE DOING ALL OF YOU A DISSERVICE IF I DID NOT SHARE IT: ALWAYS COUNT YOUR FRIES. COUNT OTHER PEOPLES FRIES. COUNT ALL FRIES. BECAUSE I WAS ALMOST DONE WITH MY LOADED FRIES. IT WAS ONLY LIKE FOUR FRIES LEFT. AND I GOT A WHOLE NEW ONE FOR FREE BECAUSE THOSE TWO WEREN'T SMART ENOUGH TO LOOK ON THE GROUND AND COUNT FOR THEMSELVES. THIS IS A TRUE STORY AND I AM CACKLINGGGGG

I can’t believe the movie Baby Driver is literally based off this early 2000s music video that Edgar directed, which featured Noel, Julian, and Nick Frost. That’s why they played a clip of it in Baby Driver.

anonymous asked:

why do you hate yoda? not an attack I'm just really curious

I appreciate your curiosity because I am ALWAYS up for the chance to rant about my hate for that lil green fucker. Ok so here goes:

To me, Yoda represents everything that is wrong with the Jedi Order. The way he interprets and enforces the code is just highly misguided and allows for no exceptions, and this is one of the things that ultimately leads to Anakin’s issues and the downfall of the Jedi.

Let’s start with Anakin. So you have this nine year old kid who was literally just rescued from slavery and whose life has changed drastically within a matter of days. He’s going through a whirlwind of extreme emotions, as would be natural for anyone in that situation, especially a NINE YEAR OLD CHILD. It’s fucked up enough to not expect any child in that situation to feel fear, but this isn’t even a typical case of a padawan who is recruited by the Jedi from a young age from a healthy family environment with parental consent. This is a boy who was rescued from slavery in order to become a Jedi, and who is reconciling the fact that he is now a free person while the mother he loves dearly is still enslaved. That’s a big fucking emotional burden to deal with. Considering the situation, Anakin actually deals with it in a much more mature and controlled way than many other kids his age would. But nooo, apparently that’s not good enough for Yoda, who can “sense” his fear. How dare Yoda, who is NOT a slave, has not EVER BEEN ENSLAVED (to our knowledge) try to police the emotions of a child who is fresh out of the system of slavery. Who the hell is he to know or say what is right to feel in that situation. But not only does he condemn that Anakin feels afraid, he acts in a way that suggests to Anakin that his fear and emotions might keep him from being trained as a Jedi. Mind you, this kid had JUST BEEN FREED in order to BECOME A JEDI. From Anakin’s perspective, he might think that if he doesn’t get to be a Jedi he has to go back to being a slave on Tatooine. So this is a pivotal moment for Anakin, where he is told that his fear and emotions will not be accepted, and he makes the decision going forward that he needs to repress these things. Right here in this moment is when Yoda already predisposes Anakin to be vulnerable to Palpatine’s influence. He is already putting this kid on the defensive and setting the path for him to repress his emotions in a dangerous way. Then, even after Anakin is granted status as a padawan and then a Jedi Knight, Yoda never fully accepts or trusts him. He is always wary of Anakin and is pretty damn obvious about it. And he’s a representative of the Jedi Council. So instead of Anakin seeing the council as people who are on his side who he can trust and turn to in times of need, he sees a council who does not like him, does not trust him, and who he can’t be open with about issues he’s facing. So many of the bad events of RoTS stem from a lack of communication between Anakin and anyone else. Because he’s been taught that his emotions and fears are not normal to have or an ok thing to experience, he doesn’t feel comfortable talking about them—not just to the Council, but to anyone. So he doesn’t turn to the council, he doesn’t turn to Padme, he doesn’t turn to Obi Wan, because he believes that what he’s feeling is unacceptable and should be pushed aside rather than discussed. And THIS is what makes him vulnerable to Palpatine. And I would argue that all of this is primarily Yoda’s fault.

So if THAT wasn’t enough… this little green nugget of bad kush learns nothing from his mistakes. How do I know that? Because he tries the same bullshit with Luke. Like, fucking up one Skywalker apparently wasn’t enough for him. He goes into hiding for a long time and you would think that during that time alone on Dagobah MAYBE he would find some time to take personal responsibility in his role of failing Anakin and realize what practices and shortcomings led to the downfall of the Jedi. You’d think that he’d realize that maybe the “no attachments” part of the code was outdated and wrong and partially responsible for what led to Anakin turning to the Dark Side. Nope. None of this happens. On Dagobah when Luke realizes that Han and Leia are in trouble, Yoda tries to stop him from going to save them! He tries to argue that Luke should let Han and Leia die so that he can “honor what they fight for.” What bullshit is that? Luckily, Luke doesn’t listen to this mess and still goes and saves Han and Leia, but honestly after all this time Yoda STILL doesn’t realize that MAYBE he’s been doing something wrong.

I won’t go into it, but he’s also kinda a piece of shit regarding Ahsoka’s trial in TCW. Basically,to me, Yoda represents this pervasive toxic masculinity of the Jedi Order that views having emotions as weak and dangerous. I’ll finish my rant with this excerpt from some book that I think is in the legends-verse now.

no but (among the 1424356 other things on my list) i so need to write a book about medieval history for a popular audience, just because the reality would blow people’s minds

there are so many things you can learn from it, so many misconceptions to destroy, and such an interesting social and cultural study of people learning to do things in different ways after rome fell. they had a period of almost 1000 years where classical culture was NOT the automatic standard. that is why we have gothic architecture and script. why they invented new literary and artistic genres, why they developed new laws. where, unlike in the ancient world, women and slaves were not relegated to a position of utter inferiority – in fact, slavery was abolished throughout most of the middle ages, and only began returning in the 16th-17th century when people were determined to replicate the criteria and legal systems of antiquity. same with women. you can find records of women doctors, bookbinders, copyists, shopkeepers, traders etc throughout the high middle ages. women religious were HUGELY influential; the abbey of fontevrault in france was required to have an abbess, not an abbot, in charge. queens regularly ruled whenever the king wasn’t around. it was only in 1593 that france, for example, decided to outlaw them from public/professional life. the salic law, made by philip iv in the early 14th century, barred them from inheriting the throne and later spread throughout europe, but that was not the case beforehand.

don’t talk to me about how “feudal anarchy” was a thing. feudalism was the last thing from anarchy, and it wasn’t about a lord mistreating or killing his peasants however he pleased. it was a highly structured and regulated system of mutual obligations – not a desirable condition for the serf, but still the bedrock on which society functioned. serfs were not slaves. they had personhood, social mobility, could own property, marry, form families, and often obtain freedom once they were no longer in an economic condition to make serfhood a necessity. abbot suger of france (late 11th-early 12th century) was most likely a son of serfs. he was educated at the same monastery school as the later king louis vi, ran the kingdom while louis vii was on crusade, and became the foremost historian of the period and partially responsible for establishing the tradition of ecclesiastical chronicles.

don’t talk to me about how everyone was a fervent and uncritical religious fanatic. church attendance on the parish level was so low that in 1215, pope innocent III had to issue a bull ordering people to take communion at least once a year. the content of clerical grievances tells us that people behaved and thought exactly as we do today – they wanted to sleep in on sunday, they wanted to have sex when they pleased, they didn’t believe the guy mumbling bad latin at them, they openly questioned the institutional church’s legitimacy (especially in the 13th century – it was taking assaults on every side as splinter and spinoff sects of every nature grew, along with literacy and the ability of common people to access books and learning for themselves). in the 14th century, john wycliffe and the lollards blasted the rigidly hierarchical nature of medieval society (“when adam delved and eve span, who then was the gentleman?”) partly as a result, wat tyler, a fellow englishman, led the peasants’ revolt in 1381. yes, the catholic church had a social and institutional power which we can’t imagine, but it was fought and questioned and spoken back to every step of the way.

don’t talk to me about how they were scientifically ignorant. isidore of seville, in the frickin 7th century, wrote books and books on science and reason from his home at the center of the andalusian “golden age” in muslim spain. toledo in the 9th century was a hotbed of theology, mathematics, and writing; admiring western european observers called multicultural, educated iberia “the ornament of the world.” in the 8th century in the monastery of jarrow in northumbria (aka in the middle of FRICKING NOWHERE) the venerable bede was able to open his “ecclesiastical history of the english people” with a discussion on cultural, linguistic, demographic, historical, geographical, and astronomical details, and refers to britain’s location near the north pole as a reason for its days being long in summer and short in winter (“for the sun has then departed to the region of Africa”). while bede’s information is obviously imperfect by virtue of his social and chronological location, he is a trained scholar with a strong critical sensibility and the ability to turn a memorable phrase; discussing an attempted imperial coup by an illiterate roman soldier, he sniffs, “As soon as he had seized power he crossed over to Gaul. There he was often deluded by the barbarians into making doubtful treaties, and so inflicted great harm on the body politic.”

don’t talk to me about how they were uneducated and illiterate. they were well versed in antiquity and classical authors through the high middle ages. they didn’t just suddenly discover them again when the 15th century started. the renaissance wasn’t about finding the texts, it was about deciding to apply them in a systematic way. beforehand, the 13th century saw the rediscovery of aristotle and the development of a new philosophical system to compete with the long-entrenched and studied works of plato. thomas aquinas and the dominicans were writing in this century. dante wrote the inferno in this century. i could go on.

don’t talk to me about the stereotype of the silent and oppressed woman – we already discussed that a bit above. i should also add, women usually had voting rights on the level of their community and this wasn’t regarded as odd. i already wrote a ranty post earlier on the myth that “it was just medieval times” and thus a rapey free-for-all.

we should also talk about how a form of gay marriage was legal for hundreds of years – two men could take wedding vows in a church and live together like any other married couple (though they called them “spiritual brotherhoods”). we should also talk about the cult of male bonds between knights in the 12th/13th century, and how it was idealized as the highest form of love. i also wrote a post a while ago about richard the lionheart and how sexuality worked. so.

we should talk about how all of this was happening in the time period that routinely gets written off as basically a wash between the fall of rome and the renaissance. we should remember that the renaissance was what led to modern structures of oppression for women, slaves, etc – everyone who had been worth nothing in antiquity. we should tear into the myth of historical progress and how it was invented to justify massive, wholesale colonization, genocide, and “civilization” in the supposedly enlightened 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries – because nothing we do now, apparently, can be as bad as what those bad ol’ bloodthirsty ignoramuses did back then.

we shouldn’t idealize the medieval era as a golden age either. that is never the right way to approach history. but we should take a long, long look at why we are so insistent on our simplistic, erroneous concepts of this time period, and how exactly they serve to justify our behaviors, mindsets, and practices today.

What are we supposed to make of Dany's reaction when Jon calls her his queen? Is it like shock that he'd bend the knee or confirmation he loves her or what? Really having trouble deciphering that moment.

I think it’s a little of both. I don’t think she wants him to bend the knee anymore. She already promised her help without that declaration. Losing Viserion and actually feeling what it would mean to lose Jon has rocked her to her foundations. People are saying she didn’t react but I think it was shock, which is fitting for the scenario. We are probably going to see a Dany with different goals and intentions from here on.

Also, I think in this moment she has new respect for Jon. She saw him fighting, protecting his men, his bravery in volunteering for the mission even if she thought it was foolish. She’s seen his scars and realizes that Davos was telling the truth about him. So I feel pretty sure that even though she isn’t ready to say it yet, she loves him. We’ve already seen her admiring him in past episodes. Touching Drogon was huge. And now she also knows he was right all along about the WW. There have definitely been time skips so she’s known Jon for months and that means simply that she knows Jon. And let’s be real. To know Jon Snow is to love Jon Snow.

In light of all this Dany is probably ashamed for having doubted him and so when he called her his queen I think she’s so moved because even though she is in a really vulnerable place where she might not even have faith in herself (she was wrong to doubt Jon, probably feels partially responsible for Viserion’s death, has been reminded twice that she can never have a child), Jon just declared his faith in her

That’s why her sort of sobbing and saying, “I hope I deserve it,” was so powerful to me. People call Dany arrogant and entitled. I saw none of that in this scene. She is shaken and unsure of everything and instead of criticizing her Jon has seen her courage and her compassion. It means the world to her that he believes in her.

And I do think his feelings were obvious in addition to the political or symbolic significance of him swearing fealty. I mean he was looking at her so tenderly god it just killed me. And he didn’t want to let her go when she tried to pull away. So I also believe that in light of Tyrion’s words to her that Jon is in love with her, she’s starting to realize that might be true.

But we’ve been given every reason to believe that she feels a little unworthy of that love right now. So I think the emotional weight of it along with her grief and guilt was too much and that’s why she left when she did :(

Summary: You hated his guts, especially after he ruined your chance at getting a good grade in one of your toughest classes. But why did your heart beat a little faster every time you saw him? And why did he feel the same way?

Reader’s POV

“I’m afraid I’m going to have to give you a failing grade, Y/N…” Mr.Ransford frowned,“ You should’ve saved your work somewhere separately you know?”

You gaped at him in complete shock, as everything came crashing down on you.

“B-but you don’t understand! It wasn’t my fault-” you stammered, your hands flailing around in a frenzy as you attempted to explain your dire situation to your psychology professor.

“Y/N, I’m sorry I’m afraid we can’t discuss this right now, I have a class in 2 minutes. We’ll talk later, hm?” he said as you sighed, your shoulders slumping in utter defeat.

He patted your shoulders in sympathy as you walked out of the door, tears welling up in your eyes as you thought of all your hard work that was now flushed down the drain. All because of one boy.

That damn Jeon Jungkook.

—-

“YAH!” you yelled, raging, as you approached the boys, a deadly glare in your eyes as you grabbed Jungkook by the collar of his tshirt. Pulling him up from the bleachers where him and the rest of his friends were sitting, all of them gasped, mouths going agape as they witnessed their golden maknae get manhandled by you.

“Y/N~What a pleasure,” Jungkook said, giving you a lazy smirk.

Your blood boiled at the audacity the boy had, to address you in such a way, after he had destroyed your chance at a good grade- heck a good year of college. Without thinking first, you lifted your hand and slapped him across the face, the contact shooting vibrations of pain down your arm as the noise echoed in the air. Immediate silence followed, everyone looking at the two of you with rounded eyes as Jungkook himself, was in shock.

You stood there, your chest rising up and down, breathing heavy as you glowered at him. His hands flew to his cheek as he let out a stream of curse words, his gaze landing on yours, fire kindling in his eyes as he reddened in embarrassment.

This is honestly the best scene with Sangwoo in it throughout the entire series.

When I first read it, i thought it was just Sangwoo being fake as hell to make him seem caring, but the last face he makes leads me to believe that this was a sincere genuine reaction.

Bums slit wrist is a trigger. It was something that caused such an emotional uproar in Sangwoo and he sees it as something that could take Bum away, whom he has accepted that he really does have feelings for.

But it also shows a little more of his controlling side as well, since his response , partially being fake but some true, shows that he really does not like anyone else handling Bum except himself.

Idk, his face in the last panel is so protective I feel that Sangwoo would almost be growling like a guard dog here.

Also, everyone else is surprised by his outburst, as Sangwoo has been quiet or calm the entire time, probably to keep an innocent appearance to the other officers, but here, he doesn’t seem to care that he has a killing intent in his face.

And yeah, he screams some more about bum not being treated well by the officer, but it came off as fake concern unlike this scene in particular.

Mutsuki and the Tragic Irony of TG134

(Sorry not sorry for talking about Mutsuki again; he’s one of my faves so I’m probably always going to talk about him no matter what happens.)

It’s just so tragically ironic that in his desperate quest to maintain the family that he truly felt safe among–the only time he really felt safe in his life–and in his quest to get Sasaki–an illusion–back, he’s ignoring the family he still has (Urie and Saiko).

While he’s off chasing Sasaki under the delusion of loving him, the man who actually has feelings for/quite possibly loves him is dying.

While I don’t think there’s even a remote chance Urie will die here, he’s probably going to frame out and then either be captured and scheduled for execution or be forced to flee and abandon Mutsuki. Either way, Mutsuki is the one who set this in motion (not that he’s in his right mind and is possibly not capable of understanding what he’s doing) by going after Yoriko to get at Touka and Kaneki, and now he’s facing consequences for it: he’s hurt Saiko, because Yoriko is her friend, his actions have led to Urie trying to talk to Furuta and now Urie’s being attacked, etc. If Urie is captured and scheduled for execution, Mutsuki will know he is partially responsible; hopefully Saiko will confront him about it like she confronted Urie and said she would do a few chapters ago.

If Urie is forced to flee and leave them, it’s going to be tragically ironic that Mutsuki’s attempts to bring back Kaneki after he left them directly led to Urie–the one Mutsuki seems to trust most–being forced to leave him too.

His attempts to save the family he desperately wants have only hastened its destruction. Whatever happens next, as Urie forewarned Mutsuki back in 126, there’s no going back to that house Mutsuki wants to return to.

And whatever happens in the 24th ward, he’s going to return to the CCG and find that what he told himself he was fighting for has fallen apart. Hopefully then Mutsuki will be forced into a realization instead of sinking further into denial/an inability to face what he’s done like he did after the deaths of biological family.

Okay but what about the Gotham Sirens adopting Jason?

  • Selina was so sweet on Jason when he was Robin, he had the best sense of humor out of the Bats because it was just like her’s. The rare times Jason was off on his own she would always drop by and listen to Her Little Robin, comforting him after a fight with the Bat because he ‘used too much force’ or because ‘he’s too reckless’. Selina would even ask Jason to pull off small heists with her from time to time. He told her that he would only do it if she would either return the items before they went missing or if she donated most of it to charity. The Gotham City Museum was hijacked so many times by Catwoman and Robin but no one ever knew because she would always return the items so Jason didn’t get in trouble.
  • After Jason died Catwoman disappeared for a week, even Selina Kyle disappeared. After that week Catwoman was back in action but the first few weeks she didn’t steal anything that was worth the normal amounts that her previous heists had been, these were more like trinkets and Bruce couldn’t figure out the pattern. Selina had stolen every item she and Jason had ever stolen together; she donated them all the homeless center for abused children.
  • Selina never looked at Bruce quite the same way after Tim showed up that first night in a Robin costume, in Jason’s costume. She yelled and screamed about how Her Little Robin was already being forgotten and replaced. That Jason was worth more than just a few weeks of grief before just going back to normal. Bruce tried to explain that Batman needed a Robin, that Jason had known the risks and that he would never be forgotten but Selina didn’t listen. After that she still flirted with Batman, but it was only half-hearted at best. Bruce would never admit it but he was slightly heartbroken by the tearing of their relationship, it never really healed even after Jason was brought back by the Pit.
  • Bruce saved the Joker from the rubble in Batman Under the Red Hood but Jason had to drag himself out. With his injuries he couldn’t get far but he remembered this little roof-top where Selina told him many years ago she went to clear her mind. It took over an hour but Jason eventually managed to get to that roof-top and wait for Selina if she would come. Selina had gone out to check the huge explosion that had echoed through the streets but when she’d gotten to the sight Batman was gone and the Joker was being taken back to Arkham. Seeing nothing for her to do she retreated to her little roof-top only to find someone already there. She couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw the blue eyes open at the sound of her approach, Her Little Robin had returned to her. She didn’t know how it was possible but she didn’t care, he was back in her arms and back in her life, she wasn’t letting go again.
  • When Selina saw the extent of Jason’s injuries from his fight with Bruce over the Joker she was furious. How dare the Bat hurt Her Little Robin after everything he’d already been through. She got him into a warm bath so he could soak and maybe take some of the edges of pain off, he was barely conscious, putty in her arms and trusting her to keep him safe; tears welled up in her eyes again and she didn’t even try to stop them. While Jason was in the tub she stripped her bed and put on the nicest silk sheets she had and made the bed for Her Little Robin because he deserved something nice for once in his life. After getting Jason settled in the bed she made a call to Harley and Ivy, telling them to meet her on top of her building. When Jason heard Selina open the window he let out a broken little whimper, he didn’t want to be alone again. Selina immediately went over to Jason and curled next to him, holding him to where he could hear her heartbeat and promising him that she wasn’t leaving him, she just had something to take care of; she stayed till he fell asleep.
  • Selina explained what she knew to Ivy & Harley, both righteously angry over what the poor boy had had to endure in his short life. Harley confessed that she’d always felt partially responsible for Jason’s death because she had left the Joker at that time due to a fight, if she had stayed maybe the Joker wouldn’t have gone so far. Selina told Harley that she should tell Jason that, that Her Little Robin would understand and wouldn’t blame her. Harley was doubtful but Ivy promised she would go with her to talk to the former Robin when this was all over.
  • The Gotham Sirens broke into Wayne manor and cornered a drunk Bruce in his study. When Selina started to growl and hiss at the man about the cut at his collarbone, that she would recognize the wound of a batarang anywhere, and how dare he attack that boy after everything. Bruce was so out of it that he broke down, he broke down and talked about the Pit, the explosion that killed Jason, about how he almost got himself killed because he was so angry and raw about Jason’s death, about how he didn’t let Tim do nearly what he’d let Jason and Dick do. But the last thing he told her about was the case with Jason’s costume. When Catwoman heard about that and about the engraving ‘My partner. My soldier. My fault.’ and she lost it. Harley and Ivy had to restrain her from scratching out Bruce’s eyes. How dare he call Jason his soldier, what about a son, was he ever a son to you Bruce? but Bruce was so far gone in his misery that he didn’t even notice.
  • Before they left Selina gave Bruce a warning to stay away from Jason. After she had climbed out the window Harley and Ivy stepped in front of Batman and threatened him as well, they might not know the boy as well as Selina did but if he was that important they would protect him for their friend too.
  • Harley apologized to Jason and, though he was wary of her for a while, he told her that most of his anger had never been at her. Sure he’d always thought she was a psychotic bitch but he didn’t blame her for his death. When she’d heard that, a huge burden lifted from Harley’s soldiers and without even thinking anything she hugged Jason tightly. He hissed at the pressure on his wounds but he gave her awkward pats on the back to let her know there weren’t any hard feelings.
  • Ivy gave Jason a shot that would render him immune to all of her plants and poisons. When Jason questioned her she told Jason that he was important to Selina and that he had given Harley something her girlfriend had desperately needed so she had no problem helping him. Jason stared at her blankly for a moment before asking when she’d left the Joker. Harley explained that after the Joker had murdered Jason, Harley thought he had taken it too far. Sure they’d killed before but this time it as so…personal and unnecessary that it felt wrong to Harley. She quickly packed up and never looked back.
  • Selina curled up in bed with Her Little Robin that evening and he let her hold him, just like a mother would. Once he’d fallen asleep Harley had decided to drag Ivy onto the bed and there was a huge pile of bodies on Selina’s giant bed but no one seemed to mind. In the morning Jason woke up first and saw that he had the three of Gotham’s most powerful villainous women curled around him and he felt…safe for the first time since he’d first laid eyes on the bomb that he knew would take his life. He made breakfast and eventually the smell of food woke the three ladies up enough for them to shuffle into the kitchen; they declared that Jason was going to be their stay in son from now on.
  • Jason put up a half-hearted fight but for some reason, his chest was getting really warm and he felt strangely giddy. He jokingly asked Selina if that meant she was his new mother and Selina merely got up and pulled Jason down to where she could plant a kiss on the boy’s forehead ‘I let you die once, I’m not letting my son get hurt again’ and that was how Selina Kyle adopted him of sorts. Harley had cried and told Jason that if Selina was his mother that since they were close as sisters that meant that Harley and Ivy were Jason’s aunts! He’d put his hand over his heart in mock horror but he couldn’t fight the smile that was making its way onto his face. It was crazy and not nearly what he’d imagined all those years ago as a street rat but he finally had the family he’d always wanted.

Ya’ll always fucking sleep on the fucking sunshine that is Jung Hoseok, when there is a good fucking chance that Bangtan would not be as great as dancer’s without him.

He literally helps everybody with the choreography. He’s extremely talented, someone WHO learned how to rap just so he could be in Bangtan. He’s got a beautiful singing voice, fuck I’m so just peeved right now.

I’m tired of people fucking sleeping on him because he’s, “ugly,” or “extra,” etc. He’s not fucking ugly, and who cares if he’s extra? That’s his personality - he’s extra to try to make his fans smile. There’s a reason he gave himself the nickname, “Jhope.” He wants to be your hope, your angel when you need it and one.

C'mon people. Wake the fuck up.

DONT ask Vetblrs for emergency and time sensitive veterinary advice

I mean it, seriously DONT. I don’t care what your reason is, if you need emergency or urgent veterinary advice then you pick up the phone and CALL someone.

You are potentially endangering your pets life by delaying treatment.

Veterinarians are only licensed and registered to provide veterinary advice in the state or country they practice in. On the internet you don’t know where someone lives, you don’t know where we live, and so we’re not legally covered if we give you specific veterinary medical advice.

We also might not be online. If you’ve got a situation where your animal needs emergency treatment within the hour and we’re not online, who’s fault is that if your pet suffers or dies? Yours, realistically, because you thought messaging someone you don’t know online is a substitute for calling a clinic. But morally, we will feel partially responsible for not being online at the right time to stop you being a bloody idiot.

And we can’t do anything for you. We can’t write you a prescription to have medication delivered by drone. We physically can’t do anything to help your pet.

CALL A CLINIC. I don’t care if you think ‘vets are expensive’, a phone call is not.

CALL A CLINIC. I don’t care if you think they’re closed, more and more clinics are open late and most clinics either divert the practice phone to a vet’s mobile overnight, or give you the contact number of clinics that are still open.

CALL A CLINIC. I don’t care if you’re shy. It’s always fine to call a clinic, especially if you think your pet is at any risk at all.

Don’t think Google is a substitute either. Googling wastes precious time, and there’s a plethora of false information out there. You can’t be certain of anyone’s qualifications online. CALL A CLINIC.

Don’t shift responsibility off yourself by thinking messaging a Vetblr here is adequate care. We have enough mental health rubbish to deal with without the guilt of knowing that your animal might die because you chose to message us.

DO NOT ASK A VETBLR FOR EMERGENCY, URGENT OR TIME SENSITIVE ADVICE.

Call a vet clinic.

YouTube's biggest star PewDiePie causes controversy with 'Death to all Jews' video
World's most popular YouTuber lands himself in hot water again.

The performers, who call themselves “funnyguys”, advertise that they will paint any message on their body in exchange for money while dancing in the jungle.

While many choose their own name or a funny message, PewDiePie jokingly asked the pair to display: “DEATH TO ALL JEWS”.

He published the resulting clip, showing them dancing and laughing while holding the antisemitic message above their heads, on his YouTube channel.

While some fans found the clip funny, others said the star had gone too far.

Despite requesting the hateful message to be displayed, and publishing the resulting video, PewDiePie apologised to fans at the end of the video – but still gave the performers a five-star rating.

He said: “I am sorry. I didn’t think they would actually do it. I feel partially responsible. I mean I’ve got to give them five stars for an outstanding experience because at least they did what I asked.”

He added: “I don’t feel good. I don’t feel too proud of this, I’m not gonna lie. I’m not antisemitic, or whatever it’s called, okay so don’t get the wrong idea. It was a funny meme, and I didn’t think it would work, okay. I swear I love jews, I love ‘em.

"I am so sorry. I don’t know what else to say.”

pewdiepie paid some guys actual money to hold up a sign that said “DEATH TO ALL JEWS”, published it, gave them a 5-star rating, and then tried to shrug off any responsibility by saying he didn’t think they would really do it. he even says he only feels “partially” responsible and he’s “not antisemitic” despite the fact that he 1) posted this video so close to a surge in antisemitic hate crimes following trump’s election and 2) posted this video at all.

this isn’t funny, this isn’t satire, it’s gross and hateful shock humor at the expense of people who are already unsafe with the increasingly emboldened neo nazis–i mean, “alt right”. it’s not defensible. stop supporting him.

surviving (and maybe even thriving) in the sherlock fandom after s4

…OR, maybe even kind of sort of learning how to enjoy oneself again while being a johnlocker.

This is a post for people who are on the fence / still turned off by s4 / still struggling with how to frame it for themselves.

In light of the upcoming fic writers’ retreat, in anticipation of (I hope) having a conversation or two about this very topic, and in partial response to comments that my good fandom friends have dropped recently about their struggles with feeling like they don’t want to engage with the show or the fandom after s4, I’ve been thinking about how to continue on as a johnlocker, and why I feel more motivated than ever to find a way to have a relationship with the show (albeit a substantially altered one than before), and what fandom engagement means to me.

It probably doesn’t look like it, because I’ve participated full throttle in all kinds of conversations about the show since s4, but I do get why s4 was entirely offputting for a lot of people. While I strongly suspect that mofftiss are doing something interesting and unusual with s4, that whatever-it-is came at a heavy price: a series that looks like a hot fucking mess and actively does things that one should never do (i.e., constantly throwing into question the reality status of the story one is telling) if one wants to avoid frustrating the shit out of one’s audience.

What’s worse, the series was promoted with a promise of FINALLY answering the question of who Sherlock loves, without delivering on that promise in a way that was in any way definitive (John? Molly? Irene? Chips?) or satisfying (JOHN???). We got a scene that was really close to the kind of thing we’ve always wanted to see, at the end of The Lying Detective, an episode that also brought us an interaction between John and Sherlock that was so awful, it singlehandedly ruined the show for a lot of people.

Even though I love the shit out of talking about the puzzle of s4, I love it because I love how smart everyone in the fandom is, and how much I’ve learned about Doyle, and the many many intertexts the show engages with. I love how stunningly great people here are with teasing complex arguments out of this hot mess.

I don’t love that we got this weird thing to figure out instead of actual story. I don’t love that for some reason a major plot point was John and Sherlock detonating their relationship even more profoundly than they had before. I still think that the more skillful thing to do would have been to make a puzzle for viewers to figure out, but make it actually enjoyable to watch. (Personally, I did enjoy TLD, but I’m a sucker for Nick Hurran’s direction, I thought Ben and Martin performed incredibly, and I have a high tolerance for creepy shit and violence, so.)

SO: WHAT TO DO?

I’ve been thinking about a few of the strategies I’ve put in place / fallen back on for approaching all of this. I don’t know if any of this is helpful but here it is, for what it’s worth.

Acknowledge that the showrunners are human people and human people make good choices and bad choices and questionable choices

Before s4 aired, I wrote about the fact that mofftiss had set up a highwire act with extraordinarily high stakes, as of the end of s3. This meant they could pull off an astounding feat of storytelling, or they could fall. Instead they sort of burned down the circus tent and re-encoded all the elephants…not what any of us were expecting. I mean, surprises in storytelling can be great, but this was like hey everyone, suddenly the show is going to be performed in Esperanto instead of English, have fun with that.

Questionable at best.

To sum up: good choices resulted in the following:

Ben and Martin in s1 and 2 creating this beautiful dynamic together, eyesex and all the subtext and a tragic love story with mistakes and denial and pining and hope. s3, which bumped up the subtext to the point of ridiculousness. And TAB, which doubled down on that subtext EVEN HARDER. The purple shirt of sex and the swishy coat of alone protects me and a stalwart and broken John who is finally strong enough to partner his Sherlock and enough sexual and romantic tension to drown the population of the earth planet and a Mary Morstan who is actually Moran and there’s always two of us and hey did I mention romance yet?

We got all that, and then we got–this s4 thing.

Let me tell you about writers (speaking as one). They shit the bed all the time. They make weird choices. They have strange ideas. They fail to stick the landing. When that happens, it’s their tragedy. It doesn’t have to be yours.

Maybe this story isn’t done yet. I don’t think it is. I’m willing and able to reserve judgement, but this post is for those of you who aren’t, or can’t.

You can still like the parts of the show that you liked before. You weren’t wrong for liking what worked for you before. You would not be wrong now, for still liking those bits. All the shitty choices the showrunners could make, did make, and might still make, do not make you wrong for liking the bits you liked.

You can still like the parts of the show that you liked before.

Need permission for that? Here it is: BECAUSE MAY SHEPARD SAYS SO. I’ll make you a certificate if you want.

Need more specific help? Here’s another idea:

Get selfish. Get really, really selfish.

Remember that you are here for you. You came here, probably, because thinking about John and Sherlock together is something you enjoyed. Back immediately after s4 aired, and I was still stuck firmly in the wtf zone, I had to have a talk with myself about this.

I asked myself what I liked about the show. Why John and Sherlock, together, were so crunchy and beautiful to me. It came down to one thing: the fact that I read the show as a love story.

I’m here for my own entertainment. This is my happy place. This is where I come when my regular writing is stuck or I want to try to hack out a new part of my skill set. I get a lot out of thinking about John and Sherlock, as characters.

I still read the show as a love story, and I will continue to do so.

That means, in light of s4, doing a lot more reading in to the little moments than I used to have to. It means cherry picking a lot harder. It means ignoring vast swaths of what we actually saw onscreen. (The fact that this is the current state of meta too helps a whole heck of a lot.)

Playing the what if game a lot harder than I have previously has become the rule of the day.

What if John and Sherlock are in love? They are. For me, they are, and they always will be. Will they be in canon? Get yourself to a place where this question doesn’t matter, where your personal happiness doesn’t hang on this. We’re several months on after s4. It’s time to give your head a shake and remember that John and Sherlock love each other and will always find their way back to each other, because we say so.

If you don’t believe this, try because May Shepard says so. I’ll say it until you believe it, too: John and Sherlock are in love. The show is a love story.

I will read the show as a love story, regardless of whether it wants me to. Hey show, get ready for some sweet sweet interpretation. I hope you’re in the mood.

Still not convinced? Try this thought experiment:

Put Some Distance Between You and S4

So a few nights back I was chatting with @laughing-at-the-darkness (who is the best, go follow her immediately), and I jokingly said that what we need in this fandom is a reset, like the kind of perspective you can only get ten years after a television show has finished airing.

Try this on for size:

The year is 2027. You’re looking for some good content to watch. You remember hearing, dimly, about the fact that, a while back, BBC made a Sherlock Holmes adaptation with some pretty famous actors.

You read about it a bit first. Ah yes: the adaptation that everyone was raving about, but that did a weird thing in its fourth series. Bearing this in mind, you decide to watch.

You’re charmed by series 1-3, and the one-off Victorian special. You decide to watch s4, bearing in mind what you know about it, that it seemed to go off the rails relative to everything that had come before. You watch, prepared to laugh along at Mary’s bullet tango and the way she just won’t seem to go away and Sherlock has a sister who is also an X-Man? What????

You watch it. You shrug. You carry on thinking that s1-3 and TAB are great, like you were prepared to do.

We know what we know now: that s4 is a difficult part of canon, a stumbling block for a lot of us. If you can accept that, then you can move forward, liking the parts you like, and leaving the parts you don’t.

Moving On

I still personally have some questions about how to deal with s4 as a fic writer. There are so many potential interpretations–how does one go about sorting through the detritus? A lot of people don’t want to / can’t bring themselves to rewatch, so how much can I assume they do and don’t remember about the episodes? But these are mostly logistical issues, and solvable with some rational decision making. (I did start a fic a while back based on TST, but I wasn’t ready to finish it, and I don’t think people wanted that type of fix it in that particular moment.) s4 changed the stakes for a lot of people, so writing fic now is all about writing to a different emotional register, I think. I’m personally having fun with that, while sorting through the implications for the wips I started before s4 aired. I’m hoping we can talk about some of these issues, as writers, and as fans, but that’s a post for another day.

In any case, I’m here, John and Sherlock are in love, and I hope this is helpful in some way. I don’t want anyone to lose the thing that used to give them enjoyment, nor (on a more selfish note) do I want to see people still leaving the fandom if they don’t have to.

Not Your Fault (Avengers X Fem!Teen!Reader)

Characters: Avengers X Fem!Teen!Reader

Universe: Marvel, Avengers

Warnings: Mention of extreme injury, disability, guilt.

Request: Hey! I was wondering if I could have one in which the reader is Tony’s teen daughter and she is really good friends with everyone in Team Cap but then during the airport fight she gets hurt and is unable to walk again (like Rhodey kind of) and then when she sees Team Cap again they feel really guilty specially because one of them caused the injury and Natasha feels angry at herself because she was supposed to be her mother figure and look out for her. Thank you, hope it’s not too much trouble!

It’s been nearly two years since the incident. Since the team split and had that fight. You didn’t like it. You were close with everyone on Steve’s team. Wanda got along with you since you were close to each other’s ages, Clint was just good with kids, and Scott was the same and funny. Sam you could joke with, and despite barely knowing Bucky, in the time you knew him, you had managed to get to talk to him a bit and you managed to get him to smile. Steve was probably the one you were closest to. His ego was nowhere as big as your dad’s, Tony, and if he ever got too much, Steve always offered dinner at his after school or just to help with homework. He gave you a glimpse of a normal life- well, as normal as life could get. He was like an uncle.
