I made excuses for the 2004 ASOUE movie and jim carrey for years and now I see it was for nothing, I was wrong, that was not the best they could’ve done, and I know that now. Why did that director not keep jim from going too over-the-top? Why did they boot the author from the writing process and then leave lots of half-developed new storylines he created in the finished product with no follow-up or explanation? Why did they make it so Klaus didn’t need glasses when they knew full well the entire plot of the fourth book relies on his inability to see without them? Why did they try to end it on an uplifting note when everyone in the production and the audience knew damn well they were bringing those kids to work in a lumbermill?
