Honestly, being a fic writer sucks. Like, I know I’ve joking talked to @xambedo about how if fandoms were totem poles (probably a super bad analogy, I know) fic writers would be towards the bottom. Not the very bottom, because fics are generally more relevant than AMVs (which are hella awesome and deserve way more recognition because editing videos and matching clips is hard), but certainly not towards the top either.
Some lovely things that come with being a fic writer:
Being told you’re not a “real” writer. Because it’s entirely irrelevant that fanfiction has created a new wave of writers and most are entirely self-taught. I learned more writing fics between the ages of 13-18 than I ever did in school, so much so that my Creative Writing professor in collage told me there was “nothing more he could teach me.”
Fanfiction, as a whole, has a generally negative connotation. You find any book to movie adaptation that didn’t go well at all and people say it was “written like fanfiction.” Not “bad fanfiction” just “fanfiction. Never mind that there’s so much good fanfiction (some of which being better than the actual source material).
Need to pay the bills? Want to try commissions? A patreon? Good luck!
The overall lack of response sucks. Generally speaking, even the most popular writers in fandoms struggle to get their work spread around. On a good day you can get maybe 100-300 notes on a fic (wide range, but that’s exactly how much it varies), and that depends on when you post it, how many times you reblog it yourself, and chance. A lot of people just don’t reblog fics
There are no good sites to post fics. FF.net is dysfunctional 70% of the time, AO3 is complicated to use and people are even less likely to leave comments there, and Tumblr just isn’t very welcoming to writers (I’ve been told several times that I should just move to a different platform. Jokes on you, even sites dedicated to fic writers absolutely suck. There’s no winning, only exhaustion and resignation.)
Reviews/Comments are frustrating as all heck. Either readers don’t review, they leave magnificent comments that touch your soul, or you get twelve reviews telling you to “update” despite the fact that you just did an hour ago. I promise you, fic writers watch their email like a hawk after updating, and the moment they open that first email saying they have a review and see it’s just telling them to update again, they deflate. And it’s not that people don’t have the time or don’t know what to say, they just… don’t want to.
(Sidenote: try bribing your readers sometime, just to see for yourself. If you have a consistent schedule, casually slip in that “hey, if this chapter can hit *insert number slightly higher than the average* reviews, I’ll update *insert earlier date than when you would be updating*.” Like, just try that once. I swear you’ll get least a few more reviews than normal.)
Blahblahblah, I’m whining, if you’re going to reblog this to be a snarky asshole and call fic writers entitled/greedy/etc how about you consider not doing that and maybe just let fic writers be frustrated over things. Writing is hard.

Hello! Happy International Women’s Day!
I want to share something with you…
Do you see this image? It’s Chichi/Milk from Dragon Ball. This image/meme is about this day, that regardless what you are (a mom, a wife, a girlfriend, a sister, a good friend, a worker and/or anything else), you’re awesome and women are awesome.
What is this so relevant here? This image was uploaded by the Civil Registration Departement’s Facebook from my state (Nuevo León, in México), A PUBLIC DEPENDENCE ADMINISTERD BY THE NUEVO LEÓN’S STATE GOVERNMENT!
They chose Chichi/Milk over other strong female characters to celebrate Women’s day because two reasons:
1.- Dragon Ball is important and known by most of Mexican people.
2.- Chichi/Milk is strong, kind, loving, severe, tender, energetic and many other qualities… and she’s recognized as a worthy character by a lot of Mexican people.
I’ve seen a lot of anti-Chichi and anti-Gochi post about how Chichi is an “annoying, insufferable woman” whose purpose is annoy Goku and her children. I’m sick of them, sick of the negativity and sick of people who treat women poorly because they’re not “a hot, sexy lady who does whatever she wants”.
I feel so happy when I saw this in Facebook that I congratulated the admins. It makes me feel that Chichi/Milk is an actual cool and worthy character, complex and relatable. And that a government’s Facebook account creates memes and quality content like this (they make funny and relatable memes about current themes to inform the services they offer) it’s priceless.
I often find so much negativity about Sam y destiel blogs... why is that? and if you could lead me into some sam positive blogs...
Hi! This confuses me, everyone I know loves Sam too :D
The only thing I would say is that we meta writers in the Destiel side don’t have a blind martyrising view of Sammy, we view him flaws and all, as we do both Dean and Cas and everyone else, so if you want OMG SAM IS AMAZING HE HAS NEVER PUT A FOOT WRONG HE IS TO BE ADORED AND WE MUST IGNORE ALL HIS MISTAKES then I would say we are not for you.
We pick apart all the characters and their flaws as well as their amazingly positive points and tbh we focus more on the positive, because why would you want to bring the mood down when the show is something we all love and seems to be in itself going down a more positive route these days?
Sam at the moment is having some awesome plot points that are going to get really relevant going forwards for his arc, which I call his self forgiveness arc (whereas Dean’s is self acceptance and Cas’ is self worth).
I’m sure the writers of this damn show knew what they were doing when they unleashed this photo of Katie and Mel literally within an hour of the show airing.
Or perhaps not… but even so. I am going to go out on a limb and say I am happy with my choice to let this be the last episode I watch until I hear about the rest of the season. This episode, though it’s only 1/15, gave me some hope that perhaps better things are on the horizon.
What I loved was firstly, Mon-El was not the primary character of the show as he has taken up a LARGE amount of screen time this entire season. Aside from the irritating ending, which I can comment on later, I didn’t mind him as a side character with side commentary and brief comedic relief. I don’t mind the actor anymore, and when the character is not an asshole (which is rare on this show), he isn’t terrible… but again, a few okay moments don’t make up for all the crap he’s done/ said all season long, nor the lack of story the writers/ CW have given Kara in S2. But moving on…
What made this episode AWESOME was we had some real plot with real issues that are totally relevant to the political climate we are facing today (at least here in the US). This was a tragic story, no doubt.
We finally, FINALLY, had multi-character interactions, responses, confrontations, you name it on many different fronts, and I’ll list them here;
James/ Winn Brotp goals.
Alex/ Maggie support/ relationship goals.
Alex/ Jo’on confrontation, fight, conclusion and resolution.
Alex/ Kara confrontation, fight, ultimate sister love and bonding that we’ve missed all season long, and somewhat of a resolution.
Kara (&SG)/ Snapper Carr conflict, fighting, actions, and major consequences/ Kara professional development FINALLY.
Kara/ Lena friendship and professional talk goals.
Supergirl/ Lena working relationship/ alliance goals.
Lena/ Lillian still going head to head and more Luthor drama.
Jeremiah/ Alex conflict, fight, resolution/ solution, more still to come!
Cadmus plot furthered with Lillian, Hank Henshaw, the fate/ future of Jeremiah, etc. The mystery ensues, eyes are everywhere, and more plot for the future of L Corp as well.
And most importantly?!?!?!
Alex kicking ass, Maggie kicking ass, Lena kicking ass, Guardian kicking ass, Lyra kicking ass, Kara kicking ass, Jeremiah kicking ass and even Winn attempted to kick some damn ass. Like, FINALLY, this is what a show encompassing every character and giving each person a story, some damn potential, some damn plot, can look like y’all!!! It rocked!
All of this happened in ONE episode, and I was like, damn…. we actually have a bit of Supergirl back, thank you season 1, where have you been!?!?!
Reality has to come back around y’all….
I MAY have tolerated Mon-El as a love interest for Kara if he had been as background in this episode throughout the season, but that hasn’t been the case. He was relatively sweet, somewhat annoying, I give him some benefit of the doubt here alone. The real disappointment though, which this show gave us at the very end was, Kara was willing to give up her professional dream of being a reporter. Being Supergirl and being with Mon-El was “enough.” And to that, I just…. shake my head.
What made it all worse was we had one episode of the old Supergirl back, only to give us promos for the next episode, which is entirely revolved around Daxamites/ Mon-El/ the Prince of Daxam/ Mon-El’s parents…… and the very end gave us some clips of that too, but….
It was like, we got to jump for joy and have hope because we had awesome plot development and multi-character/ relationship growth…. only to be whipped back into the Mon-El Show…. and that’s the real fucking bummer of the whole thing.
I saw the pic of Katie and Mel, I saw all this badass action, totally swooned at some Supercorp moments, but in the end, it’s like…. it doesn’t really matter because the CW is going right back to the same old song and dance. Mon-El centric, here we go.
In conclusion to this long rant/ bullshit review….
Thank you writers for doing something right and giving us a taste of the old show with actual complexity and not some weird frat boy story of nonsense. Sincerest thank yous, like, you were on the right track.
With that being said, one episode doesn’t make up for a whole season, and we all know this goes back to being Mon-El centric next week. We hope he gets taken away, but truthfully, we have no clue. So until more fruitful efforts are taken on to make more episodes like the one tonight, I’m not supporting the show and I’m hoping it turns around for the better in season 3 and the writers take our feedback… :)
Oh… and yes, I ship Supercorp. Thought that was obvious. ^_^ But also, some key moments….

Two years ago today, The History Channel premiered their miniseries Sons of Liberty. I have met SO MANY amazing folks thanks to this show. Discovered amazing actors. Rediscovered my love for history and writing. So thanks guys. For everything. Keep being awesome.
Greetings! Awesome drawings! Could you please draw a scenario in which an INTJ male is crushing on an INFP female? It'd be very relevant to my current situation. Again, awesome art, keep up the good work!
The intj I know has only had 1 and a half crushes in her entire life so idk if this is an accurate intj response but I’m rooting for you my dude
