It’s not the first time you’ve been in the common kitchen at Avengers Tower, but it is your first time as a resident. Finally, officially, with your last box of sci-fi novels rescued from the wrong removalist van, you’ve moved into the Tower. The coffee from Tony’s state of the art machine has never tasted so good.
Tony rarely uses the kitchen for breakfast (he’s never around before noon) but today he’s made an exception. He’s not feeling so out of character as to put on actual clothes, and so while you’re in your usual pressed best, he is un-ironically wearing a matching Iron Man pyjamas set.
Jason Saint of @shitloadsofwrestling reviewed a match of mine last year and his biggest critique was that it seemed as if I went through every move I had within the first handful of minutes. He advised me to rewatch Bret/Shawn’s WM 12 match and note how many moves were actually done…so that’s what I did yesterday; I counted every move (excluding basic punches/kicks, rest holds, and pins) from Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels’ 60 minute Iron Man match at WresltleMania 12.
Just proves you don’t need to pull out every single trick in your bag in order for a match to be considered a classic:
The hot potato with the title notwithstanding let just appreciate the many times these women made history this year: First Women to main event Raw since 2004(twice) First Women to be in a Hell in a Cell match First Women to main event a WWE main roster pay per view First Women since 2007 to be in a Falls Count Anywhere match First Women to compete in the first ever Iron Man Match on the Main Roster
So to these two women, thank you for giving us all of these special moments.
“Probably one of my all-time favourite matches is Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart; Iron Man match for the championship at WrestleMania 12. That match is the very reason why I wanted to learn how to wrestle. Both men displayed inspirational amounts of athleticism and technicality; brawling for over 30 minutes straight with barely any rest breaks? Seriously impressive. It’s the athletic side of wrestling that really interests, entertains and motivates me.”
Alright, I actually needed to bust my laptop out for this. So, I don’t speak for everyone. People have different reasons for not liking him and liking him. These are my reasons and my opinions:
He is lazy- I will never EVER deny that at one time, Brock was one of the best athletes the company had. His iron man match with Kurt Angle is absolutely amazing. Now though, not so much. His whole gimmick of ‘Suplex City’ relies on him being able to…you know…actually do a suplex. Suplexes are when the opponent’s hips are at your upper torso, Brock can barely get them up.
He is paid six million a year- according to Heavy.com which uses information from July 2016, their sources are Forbes and Celebrity Net Worth. The only wrestler that get’s paid more than him, is John Cena. That means, Brock gets paid more than Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, Triple H (THE VICE FUCKING PRESIDENT OF TALENT), and so many others. He gets paid more for being a one hit wonder than some of the most talented wrestlers in the world.
He get’s special treatment- Now, I want people to look around at all of the wrestler’s gear and look at Brock’s. There is a subtle difference. Brock has sponsorships. In MMA, there is nothing wrong with that, it is one of the biggest parts of their look. It’s how they make money. WWE superstars don’t get sponsors, well at least not ones they wear on their clothes. John Cena doesn’t walk around with Fruity Pebbles on his back. Also Brock kinda just pops up when ever he wants. The only other person that is allowed that is The Rock. The Rock is one of the biggest stars in the WORLD not just the WWE.
He is disrespectful- This, this is the one that kills me the most. Goldberg is so kind and very loving of his fans and his reception. What does Brock do? He ignores it. He swears and he doesn’t try. Yeah, when wrestlers swear its kinda enjoyable but Brock, he just doesn’t care. For some people, that’s the cool part of him. But nothing people can do can change the fact that WWE is strictly PG. He puts little to no effort into his matches and gives nothing back to the community and doesn’t do his part in the WWE world. He just pops up, gets put over, flips off the fans, and leaves back the UFC. Speaking of UFC, I know that the Summer Slam spot was all planned but still. The blatant disrespect to not only WWE but also to UFC since the move that he used is BANNED in UFC. John Cena is put over all the time, but he is respectful and always ALWAYS gives back. John Cena is always put on such a high horse is because he works hard, all the time, not just part time.
It’s true that Brock is the last novelty in wrestling but that doesn’t excuse the fact that he is just…not good anymore.
