7 Things You Can Do to Help Planned Parenthood and the Communities We Serve

What can you do right now for Planned Parenthood? Try these 7 things.

1. Donate to Planned Parenthood

The work to protect Planned Parenthood patients’ access to care starts now. Your support is more important than ever.

Donate to support Planned Parenthood health centers: Our health centers are open, and they’re continuing to deliver vital reproductive health care — like birth control, cancer screenings, and STD testing and treatment.

2. Speak Out Against Hate

Planned Parenthood’s patients are from all walks of life. They are immigrants, Muslim, Black, Latinx, and LGBTQ — and they all deserve access to health care in a safe and welcoming place.

Wherever you are (online or IRL), declare your rejection of hate and your solidarity with these communities. Show that you believe every single person is deserving of respect, dignity, and equal rights under the law.

You don’t have to speak out alone. There are several groups supporting solidarity with intersecting communities:

  • American Civil Liberties Union: Help the ACLU fight unconstitutional policies.
  • Color of Change: Join the nation’s largest online racial justice organization.
  • Human Rights Campaign: Help LGBTQ people get treated equally, everywhere.
  • National Disability Rights Network: Advocate for people with disabilities.
  • Our100.org: Take a stand with 100 women of color leaders.
  • ShowingUpForRacialJustice.org: Now is the moment for white people to be bold and join the movement for racial justice.
  • Southern Poverty Law Center: Make the promises of the Civil Rights Movement a reality for all.
  • Transgender Law Center: Ensure all can live safe, authentic lives regardless of gender identity or expression.
  • Trust Black Women: Report anti-abortion activity in the Black community to SisterSong and a Trust Black Women partner.
  • United We Dream: Fight for relief and fair treatment for all undocumented immigrants.

3. Volunteer for Planned Parenthood

Go to PlannedParenthood.org to sign up to volunteer with Planned Parenthood, or call your local health center.

4. Make an Appointment for Health Care at Planned Parenthood

Our health center doors are open. Like always, every person can get health care at Planned Parenthood, no matter what.

You can support Planned Parenthood by making your next reproductive health care appointment at your local Planned Parenthood health center. Need birth control? A well-woman exam? STD tests? We can help you with that and more. Some Planned Parenthood health centers also provide hormone replacement therapy for trans patients.

Go to PlannedParenthood.org

5. Tweet Your Defiance With #WeWontGoBack

Use social media to reject hate and refuse to let the next president roll back the rights we’ve fought so hard to secure.

Tweet your defiance along with the hashtag #WeWontGoBack.

6. Share Cecile Richard’s Message of Strength

Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards shared a message of resilience earlier this week. Read it here — it’s sure to give you strength.

7. Sign Up for Email & Texts

Join our email network to stay on top of the issues. Our email alerts will also help you learn how to get involved with campaigns that advance and protect reproductive health.

Want text alerts? Text “StandwithPP” to 69866 to join our Planned Parenthood mobile action network. Standard data and text rates may apply. You can text STOP to quit at anytime.

Of course, these are just a few things you can do. The opportunities to get involved and fight back don’t end here. For 100 years, Planned Parenthood has faced challenges and attacks from people opposed to our mission to provide expert sexual and reproductive health care, no matter what. Through every attack, we’ve come out stronger. We’re going to use that strength to lead in the coming days, months, and years — for the patients who rely on us and for our allies across progressive movements.

The notion of “I will wait for you to be ready” is always, always, always more romantic and captivating than the “I will win you over and you’ll be mine” mentality. Every. Single. Time.

Senior Initiate Kenobi

Hello There! I just wanted to thank everyone for their overwhelming response to my first little bit fun with Ahsoka and Tiny BB! Obi-Wan. (That is totally his name now and no one will convince me otherwise.) I am so, so humbled by all of the lovely comments and tags and reblogs you’ve given me and I cannot thank you all enough!

And now, we return to our previously scheduled Adventures of Ahsoka and Obi-Wan!

And if you have no idea what I’m talking about Part One is right here! And you can find Part Three here!

Was Ahsoka losing her mind?

“I’m sorry. What did you say your name was?” she sputtered in shock.

If it was possible, the boy in front of her looked even more crestfallen than before, his blue eyes darting off to the side as he hunched his shoulders defensively and bowed his head. “My name is Obi-Wan Kenobi.”

Yes. Ahsoka decided she was losing her mind.

Or maybe this a dream? Or a Force vision? Yes! Let’s go with Force vision. But what is the Force trying to tell me?

And why did this tiny version of Master Obi-Wan look so terribly depressed?

“It’s nice to meet you, Obi-Wan,” Ahsoka finally said, returning his bow with one of her own. “Where were you headed in such a rush?”

Obi-Wan seemed startled at her kind words and looked up at her, his wide blue-grey eyes doing that squinting thing Master Obi-Wan’s did whenever Anakin was trying to pull a fast one over him. It was almost comical coming from a child half her age.

Comical and heartbreakingly familiar.

“I was on my way to saber practice with Master Drallig,” Obi-Wan sighed, apparently deciding that Ahsoka was to be trusted. “I’m afraid I shall be late now. Master Drallig will be most displeased with me.”

Saber practice? With Master Drallig? Then that meant…

This is the Temple. I’m in the Temple. On Coruscant. This is a vision of the past. Of Obi-Wan’s past.

But why was the Force showing her this?

“Why don’t I go with you and explain it to him?” Ahsoka offered, a smile on her face. “If it hadn’t been for me, I’m sure you would have been right on time, right?”

Obi-Wan bit his lip and looked off to the side, his hands clasped behind his back as he rocked on his heels. “Ah… well, to be perfectly honest, Master Ahsoka, I am already tardy for my instructions.”

“How late are you?” Ahsoka asked, incapable of believing that Obi-Wan Kenobi could be late to anything, let alone to a class on lightsaber instruction. Anakin, yes, but Obi-Wan? Never!

Obi-Wan frowned. “Class started fifteen minutes ago.”

“Fifteen minutes ago?” Ahsoka echoed, shocked. That did not sound like the Master Obi-Wan she knew. “Why are you already so late?”

And why do you still look so sad?

Pursing his lips, Obi-Wan managed to get out a pained but polite answer. “I was talking with Master Sinube and he can be a bit… loquacious. It would have been terribly rude of me to interrupt him! He is a very wise master and I… eh-hem. And now I am even more late, Master Ahsoka.”

Then Initiate Obi-Wan did the same thing that Master Obi-Wan did when it was clear he was done explaining himself: he pulled his hands from behind his back, set his chin, and nodded solemnly. When she had been younger it had been intimidating at first, then amusing and now, to see the origins of that little head nod on such a small boy, it was positively endearing.

“Well then at least let me go with you to explain my part in this whole mess,” Ahsoka smiled, a soft and affectionate laugh following her statement. “Where is the class being held?”

“In the Northern Solar Room,” Obi-Wan explained, marching forward and his head held high. “And thank you, Master Ahsoka, but you need not impugn your honor on my account. I, alone, am responsible for my actions. I chose to offend Master Drallig’s sense of punctuality and I should pay the price for it.”

Ahsoka shook her head, a feeling of warmth and affection for this tiny version of her master’s master suffusing the Force. “I think my honor can take the hit, Obi-Wan.”

Obi-Wan looked back at her, one eyebrow arched in skepticism. He gave her a long look with those clear blue-grey eyes before he came a conclusion and shook his head. “As you wish, Master Ahsoka.”

when my animation class took a break last night, i started showing my friend how SU's art has gone down. by the time break was over, half of the entire class was with us complaining about it's lack of story, lighting, chibi like drawings and how the entire show has become a "what not to do" example. one dude got so mad over the zuke thing, and kept yelling "WHAT DO YOU MEAN AMETHYST GOT FRIEND ZONED? LET AMETHYST GET LAID! LET AME GET LAID!"

Your animation class sounds amazing tbh!!

Channel 101 started as a series of short film “challenges” between the two creators, but developed into a monthly film festival at the Downtown Independent Theater in Los Angeles. Creators would pitch ‘pilots’ for shows, the audience would vote on the best ones, and the winners would get posted … on the INTERNET. W-woo?

Despite having the worst possible prize, Channel 101 became the launching pad for comedy groups such as The Lonely Island. Who went on to create like, 9 of the first 12 viral videos in existence, as well as some objectively legitimate masterpieces.

Also, Derrick Comedy, whose member, Donald Glover went on to star in Community, create the FX show Atlanta, launch a rap career as “Childish Gambino,” and taunt us with the best potential Spider-Man casting that will never be.

Ellie Kemper, from Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and The Office made an appearance. Tim & Eric were there, before they were eternally joined by ampersand. Also Human Giant, which was the first major appearance of Aziz Ansari, who’d go on to star in Parks and Recreation and Master of None.

It was even the birthplace of a little show called Rick and Morty.

This single, pre-YouTube internet comedy festival wound up launching the careers of countless talents who, one decade earlier, would’ve been lucky to even be invited to the massive fight over the one available NBC primetime slot (which would’ve ultimately gone to John Larroquette, anyway.)
