Magickal Uses for Kisses

A kiss is a very powerful thing, even in fairytales and lore of the past the power of kisses are told of (true love’s kiss, siren/mermaid kiss, first kiss, etc). a kiss can be a powerful tool for any witch. Here are a few suggestions for using kisses and the power they hold.

  • Use a kiss to charge objects: crystals, tarot cards, charms, amulets, etc etc. Use it to send your emotions and energy into the object. Love is a good emotion, but any positive energies you wish to charge the object with can be transferred this way. Adding your love to something can really give it a boost as well! Especially if it is for another to use. (Note: do not kiss toxic stones please! Be safe and smart)
  • Spell Sealing: Use a kiss to magically seal spells such as jar and bottle spells or use it to strengthen a (cooled!) wax seal. Imagine placing the kiss its like placing an invisible seal upon it, stamping in energy to lock th spell inside.
  • For Air and Wind spells: For all of my fellow witches who use air and wind spells, blowing a kiss after a chant or spell to summon a wind in the direction you wish it to blow is a good way to guide the wind but also show it positive reinforcement. Use it to show your gratitude for the wind’s cooperation. It is best for gentler wind spells.
  • Glamour and Beauty spells: Kiss the mirror after a beauty or glamour spell. Thank the mirror for its aid and seal any negativity into it. It also a wonderful way to reflect love back at yourself!
  • Love Spells: Kisses are great for powering up love spells! Kiss a candle before lighting it (careful if you are using essential oils be sure not to kiss where they are), kiss the written name of the one you desire, kiss a charm or amulet to help bring love into your life, and finally blow a kiss when finishing the the spell to close it.
  • Kitchen Magic: blow a kiss to finish a dish (don’t be too close though, don’t want to spread germs) to put a final charge of love into it before serving it to others. Good for with tea and coffee spells too!
  • Public Magic: Want to remain discrete while casting a spell in public? Blow a kiss! Its much subtler than pointing or hand motions, especially if it is a positive spell you are casting on another or a friend but it is also good for curses, either way its a wonderful way to send your intentions. Whisper the words or chant needed for the spell (if any) under your breath, imagine them them gathering in an orb of energy at your lips as you do so. Then do a subtle kiss motion on your lips (no hands and no ‘fish lips’, you are trying to be subtle). Then release the energy and words towards the target with a gentle blow of breath, sending the ball of energy in that direction.
  • Mourning/Remembrance Rituals: Ending such a ritual with a blown kiss to close it can help release your feelings in a positive manner and close the ritual with love and sincerity.
  • Thanking tools: As someone who uses tarot cards and many other divination tools, I like to place gentle kisses to the sides of the decks after using them to help bond with them. To show them my gratitude for assisting me in not only readings but also in my spell work. I also before days where I know i will be doing a lot of divination work, I will kiss them to help charge them up (as said above). It is an excellent way to bond with your tools!

let’s hone in more about lance, leadership in general, and keith’s leadership (vs. shiro’s), culminating in his overall feelings about keith’s departure.

first of all, i’m not someone who wants to see lance as the black paladin. i think his narrative is very much about him realizing his intrinsic worth. validating his idea that he must lead in order to “contribute in some way” would be detrimental to him in the long run. what i want to see is lance recognizing how essential his is to the team as he is now.

that aside, we know that lance does possess strong leadership traits.

we’re introduced to lance when he’s leading the garrison trio. although that simulation was a disaster, what it did showcase was that lance could quickly identify what the problem was and who could best fix it. he also applies this to himself; he tends to fill any role that needs filling at the time.

time and time again, we’ve seen evidence that lance is very, very perceptive, both of people’s emotions and of his surroundings. this is a very useful skill not only in a leader, but also in a support character such as lance.

when keith is leading, in one particular instance, it’s lance whom the team follows, not keith.

even when the team is technically following keith, without lance’s guidance tempering keith’s impulses, the team isn’t confident in his judgment.

furthermore, it’s lance, not “shiro”, who delivers the pep talk to allura that saves voltron.

essentially, lance is perfectly capable of leading, but in the end, the black lion does not choose him.

How To Perfect The Tone In A Piece Of Writing

The tone in writing is one of the most important characteristics of a piece of writing. Books, poetry, songs, articles, any writing whatsoever; the tone is everything. That being said, there are a lot of ways in which writers can either mess it up or completely forget to set the tone. Below is a guide to setting the tone to come across exactly how you want it to.

Some Things To Note

  • Tone is the character or attitude of a text that invokes emotion in the reader
  • There are two things you want to ask yourself when reading a text and studying the tone:

How does the text make you feel?

and

How is the text designed to make you feel?

Things That Create Tone

There are several different elements in writing that create the tone. Here are a few:

Body Language

How your characters act, interact, and speak all play a large role in how your readers perceive your story. If your characters are speaking cryptically, fidgeting, and the tensions are high, your readers will feel the suspense.

Volume (Dialogue Tags)

How loud people say things is a big indicator of how they mean for it to come across to whomever they’re talking to. It’s the same this with dialogue. While it’s important not to overdo it with the dialogue tags, you must also use them to your advantage. It’s kind of when you’re writing a script and you sometimes feel the need to add a note for the actor to say something a certain way in order for them to portray what you envision. Use specific dialogue tags sparingly, but use them well.

Context

The context of the situation is everything. If your reader doesn’t know what’s going on and your main character is super relaxed all of a sudden when they thought they were in the middle of a very stressful situation, it’s going to give them very weird vibes. Knowing where the character is, how they feel, and having some idea of what’s about to go down is imperative to creating the right tone.

WORD CHOICE

Word choice is the main way you can set the tone in your story. You must be clear, intentional, natural, and consistent with the way you choose how you phrase things in your story. We all have certain associations with specific words and using those associations will bode well for you.

Clear Word Choice…

Be clear before anything else when setting the tone. Portray what you need to in order to create the scene itself and put the reader in the story. Then change what words you’re using in order to make the reader feel a certain way. However, never sacrifice clarity in exchange for the use of a fancy word. If your read doesn’t know what you’re saying, what good does it do anyway?

Intentional Word Choice…

Be intentional when you’re deciding where to switch out words and where you decide to really hit the reader with a huge wave of tone. Don’t just fling words anywhere there’s a gap in the hopes that it will accomplish the same thing as intentionally injecting words where it will pierce the reader’s soul. See what I mean?

Natural Word Choice

While it’s important to choose words that fit the tone, they must flow naturally with the dialogue and descriptions. Don’t just slap your reader in the face with “OMG Becky did you hear what that brat Jessica said about you and your bae? She’s such a vacuous shrew!” because that’s not exactly natural is it?

I have a whole post called Improving Flow In Writing that expands on this quite a bit.

Consistent Word Choice…

Be consistent in your word choice. Don’t use the same words over and over again, but don’t go from calling dogs to “canis lupus familiaris”. Well.. unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Examples Of Tones

Some of you might be a little fuzzy on what I mean by tone in the first place, so here are a few examples of tone:

  • Comedic
  • Suspenseful
  • Enticing
  • Desperate
  • Terrifying
  • Happy
  • Dramatic
  • Romantic

Etc.. You get the picture.

It wasn’t every night your parents would leave you to take care of your 8 month old sister, but after your father got a promotion at his job, they wanted to celebrate. You really didn’t want to ruin their celebration, so you offered to take care of little Anna for as long as they needed you to.

The only bad part was that you had to cancel your date with your boyfriend. You were dating Steve Harrington, the “King” of the school. He had told he really didn’t care about that title, and it was a bit stupid. You have been dating for at least 3 months, and your parents absolutely adored him, and you like to think his parents adore you too.

Anyway, Steve had been a bit upset when you told him you had to cancel. You were both going to watch a movie at his house since you worked at the theater and didn’t want to be there any longer than you needed to.

“Come on (y/n), we’ve been planning this for a week,” Steve said over the phone, you sighed.

“I know, I know- maybe tomorrow I can come over,” you said, feeling bad. Steve was silent for a moment.

“I’ll let it slide this time, but you have to promise me that we’ll spend the whole day together.” You furrowed your eyebrows.

“The whole day?” you asked, you can see him nodding.

“Yup! To make up for all the other times you had to cancel!” You scoffed.

“I only canceled once before this!” you claimed, he hummed.

“All day tomorrow so clear your schedule, babe,” You were silent for a moment, before a smile grew on your lips.

“I’ll get to that…I’m really sorry, Steve,” you apologized again.

“It’s alright (y/n), what are you doing anyway, I didn’t even ask,”

“I have to watch Anna, my parents are going out to celebrate or something,” you shrugged, moving on your stomach, holding your phone against your ear.

“You have to babysit?” he asked, his voice changing suddenly, like he was excited. You nodded as if he could see you.

“Yeah- I’m not canceling on you for no reason,” you laughed, Steve laughed as well. Your heart sped up because you really loved hearing his laugh.

“You know what- our date is not being canceled, tell your parents I’ll be there in 10 minutes,” Your smile fell, and you tilted your head.

“What?”

“You heard me! I’ll be there in ten minutes,” You could just hear him get up, and grab his car keys. You sat up.

“Steve! My parents aren’t going to like it if my boyfriend comes over while they’re gone- they might think-”

“Come on- we’re going to babysit, that’s all! I’ll see you in ten minutes! Love you!” Your jaw dropped. Was he seriously going to come over?

“(y/n)?” his voice broke you out of your thoughts and you shook off.

“I love you too, but if my parents turn you away at the door- don’t blame me!” He laughed, and you did too, before the line went dead.

It is our mind, and that alone, that chains us or sets us free.
Types of empaths

Empaths

Being an empath is when you are affected by other people’s energies, and have an innate ability to intuitively feel and perceive others.  Your life is unconsciously influenced by others’ desires, wishes, thoughts, and moods. Being an empath can be draining and hard to even deal with. I know a lot of time you just want to give up and cut it all off. Which I’ve done once it isn’t good for you. So I’m doing these lessons to help you cope learn and heal with your empathic ability. I’ll try and take you step by step to figure out just what you are and how to handle the daily stresses of being an empath. This is lesson one What is an empath and how to tell if you are even one and the different kinds of empaths.

What is an empath

An Empath is someone who tends to be hypersensitive to the emotions and emotional states of others. But in saying this it does not mean an Empath will actually be empathic/empathetic toward others. It simply means they are more sensitive to the emotional undercurrents that surround them than other people. Now not all empaths connection is with humans. Some are with the earth itself and nature. Others its animals.

Types of empaths

1. Emotional Empath

The emotional empath is one of the most common types of empaths. If you are this type, you will easily pick up the emotions of others around you and feel the effects of those emotions as if they were yours. The emotional empath will deeply experience the feelings of others in their own emotional body. For example, an emotional empath can become deeply sad around another individual who is experiencing sadness.

For emotional empaths, it is important to learn to differentiate between your own emotions and those of others. In this way, you can use your ability to help others without becoming drained.

2. Physical/Medical Empath

Those with this type of empathy can pick up on the energy of other people’s bodies. They intuitively know what ails another person. Many people with this type of empathy become healers either in the conventional medical professions or in alternative ones. Physical empaths may ‘feel’ an awareness  in their physical body when treating someone. They may also ‘see’ blockages in a person’s energy field that they sense need treating.

If you are a medical empath, you may pick up on symptoms from others and feel them in your own body. Taking on the physical symptoms of others may lead to health problems. Some people with chronic illnesses such as fibromyalgia or autoimmune diseases might find it helps to strengthen their own energetic field so that they can turn this ability off when necessary. Taking some training in a form of healing can also help to hone this ability.

3. Geomantic Empath

Geomantic empathy is sometimes called place or environmental empathy. Those with this ability have a fine attunement to the physical landscape. If you find yourself uncomfortable, or really happy in certain environments or situations, for no apparent reason, you may be a geomantic empath.

If you are a geomantic empath, you will feel a deep connection to certain places. You may be drawn to sacred stones, groves, churches or other places of sacred power. You may also be sensitive to the history of a place and be able to pick up on sadness, fear or joy that have occurred in locations. Place empaths are highly attuned to the natural world and grieve for any damage to it. They watch with horror when trees are cut down or landscapes destroyed.

If you are this type of empath, you will probably need to spend time in nature to recharge. You may also find helping in an environmental project very healing for you. It is also important for you to make your everyday surroundings as harmonious and beautiful as you can. You may feel happier if you fill your house with plants and natural scents. You might also like to choose natural materials such as wood and linen for your clothing and furniture.

4. Plant Empath

If you are a plant empath, you intuitively sense what plants need. You will be green-fingered and have a true gift for placing the right plant in the right place in your garden or home. Many plant empaths choose to work in parks, gardens or wild landscapes where they can put their gifts to good use. In fact, if you have chosen an occupation that involves plants, then you are probably a plant empath. Some people with this gift actually receive guidance from trees or plants directly by hearing it within the mind.

If you are this kind of empath, you will already know that you need a lot of contact with trees and plants. You might like to strengthen this bond by sitting quietly by a special tree or plant and attuning more closely to its needs and guidance.

5. Animal Empath

Many empaths have a strong connection with animals. However, an animal empath will probably devote their lives to working for the care of our animal friends. Those with this gift will know what an animal needs and may be able to telepathically communicate with the creature.

If you are an animal empath, you probably already spend as much time with animals as you can. You may find that studying the biology or psychology of animals helps you to refine your gift. You could also consider training as an animal healer as your special talent can enable you to find out what is wrong with an animal and treat it accordingly.

6. Claircognizant/Intuitive Empath

If you are a claircognizant or intuitive empath, you will pick up information from other people simply by being around them. One glance at someone can give you all kinds of insight into that person. You will immediately know if someone is lying to you because you can sense the intentions behind their words. Those with this gift resonate to others energetic fields and read the energy of others very easily. This is closely related to the telepathic empath who can read another person’s thoughts.

7. Medium Empath

A medium empath is a medium who feels the emotions of spirits who have crossed over. This empath feels it deeply and is affected by such emotions. An ordinary medium can communicate and sometimes see spirits; the medium empath however has a very strong sense of the emotions and is drawn in by them.

If you have this ability, you need to surround yourself with people who you feel aligned with. With this gift, you may need to strengthen your energetic field so that you are not constantly bombarded with the thoughts and emotions of others.

Being an empath is not easy. You may find it confusing, disorienting and exhausting. However, understanding which of the types of empath you are can help you to use your gifts and abilities to help yourself and those around you.

To Aid in Job Hunting

I was asked for one of these earlier today and I knew I had written one (in one of those notebooks or google files lol) so here we go! This can be made into either a spell jar or a charm bag, whichever you feel more comfortable with!

  • bay leaf prosperity
  • cedar chipssuccess
  • caraway seed luck
  • sunflower seedspower & manifestation
  • ginger confidence

Just like any other jar or bag, intent is the key ingredient. If you’re making a jar you can light the candle to seal it now (bonus – feel free to carve sigils or words on intent into the wax if this is the only thing you will use this candle for – tea lights are perfect for this!)

Go ahead and add those ingredients one at at time. Think about what you want to get from this, imagine yourself working, nailing an interview, etc. If you aren’t great at meditating or focusing, I find that saying them out loud, or writing out the things you want to manifest help tremendously, fold it up and put it in the bag!

Seal up the jar or tie up the bag. Bring it with you when you look for jobs, apply for jobs, have interviews, etc.

Remember– magic will NEVER take the place of hard work, you can’t get a job if you don’t put in the effort to get a job, this is just to help you along the way!

Best of luck, my loves!!

Also if you have trouble sealing jars, I have a tutorial here. And all of my other spell jars, tutorials, grimoire stuff, etc can be found here.

A little tip for all my witchlings and new witches.

You don’t have to use spells.
You can, and if you want to you should use spells, but you don’t have to.

A spell is Intent put into words so it is easier to visualize.

Without Intent magic spells are pretty useless.
If you’re just reciting words of a page without a Will you might as well read the telephone book out loud.

So, yes, intent is essential, words? Not so much. Magic can be silent, if you want it to be.

It doesn’t even matter what you say. When you don’t mean it, it wouldn’t happen. Much like when your mom asks you to do something you don’t want to do, you say yes, of course you do. But will you do it? Probably not, and if? It will be halfe assed.
Magic is the same.

So: intent, intent, intent.

Also, you have to feel a spell for it to work.

It sounds pretty and says what you mean, but It doesn’t feel right? Don’t use it. Intuition is a key factor of magic.
You know what you want and you know how to get the result.
Don’t let anyone ever tell you that the only way to get said result is trough a spell you don’t like. It’s not.

Hope this could be helpful to someone.

Shouto: Guys, let’s stop with that name… Someone might mistake me for a villain…
Izuku: S-Sorry about that! We promised we won’t call you that anymore!
Tenya: Yes! We wouldn’t want you to feel uncomfortable about it. Please forgive us.

How about something to lighten up the mood? Especially after laughing along with Midoriya and Iida due to Todoroki’s ‘unintentional’ joke. XD   And I just noticed that they both point at Todoroki using their ‘wreck’ hand/arm. 😂
