Instaburb: 50 Images of Australian Suburbia Melbourne Launch

Hi Everyone, Oliver Lang and I are super excited to announce that Instaburb: 50 Images of Australian Suburbia will launch in Melbourne at 7pm Friday 13 April at the Dumbo Feather HQ.

If you would like to come to the launch and share a few party pies with us then please RSVP through this form:

Information about the Instaburb competition and book is provided below:

Neon-green lawns, concrete cul-de-sacs, and a rotary clothesline spinning in the breeze are some of the images of suburban life explored in the photography book Instaburb: 50 Images of Australian Suburbia.

One of the first curated books of Australian mobile photography, the publication is the result of a nation-wide competition seeking photographs of Australian suburbs shot and processed on mobile phones.

The book features 50 photographs from 35 Australian photographic artists. The images capture slices of suburban life in cities and towns all across the country. The winning ten images will also be announced on the night.

Instaburb was created by mobile photographers and active Instagram users, Misho Baranovic and Oliver Lang. Impressed with the high-quality photographs being taken and shared by Australian Instagram users, Baranovic and Lang created the competition and book project as a way to showcase some of the best of these images in print.

Baranovic and Lang decided to partner with Blurb because of the high quality of the books and ease of publication through the dedicated Instagram app plug-in.   Instaburb will be available for purchase from the Blurb Bookstore on the night of the launch.

Joining Baranovic and Lang on the Instaburb judging panel were Nick Moir, internationally awarded documentary photographer, and Kate Kendall, one of Australia’s foremost digital media specialists.
