If the sun were to explode, you wouldn’t even know about it for 8 minutes because that’s how long it takes for light to travel to us. For eight minutes the world would still be bright and it would still feel warm.
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close - Jonathan Safran Foer
Reaching for the light // I’ve learned early on in my life that no matter how hard we try, we will always have times in our lives where we find ourselves in dark places. I’m currently in the darkest place I’ve ever been in, and it’s a constant battle for me to remind myself that it doesn’t end here. It’s in these darkest places and in these darkest moments that we are challenged the most; Causing us to learn the most, grow the most, and change the most…and by God’s grace, these dark places can transform into beautiful things. This is currently my deepest prayer and heart’s desire. Let the ruins come to life, in the beauty of Your name.
How people treat you says nothing about you as a person, it says something about themselves. It’s a reflection of their own thoughts. So when people call you a loser etc. you should rather worry about them than about you. Because you are absolutely beautiful the way you are. Even if you can’t see this beauty in yourself right now, believe me, it exists and there are people out there that see you as the incredible beautiful miracle that you are. But most important YOU should see you as that. Because only then you can be it. Your thoughts define who you are and if you always think bad things about yourself don’t wonder that others think them, too. You have to accept and respect yourself so you can be accepted and respected by others. You are tired of fake love? You can’t expect real love if you don’t love yourself either. So what about learning to love yourself first instead of waiting for love from people that can’t give you the love you deserve? I want you to know that you are a wonderful human being and whatever other people say about you, it doesn’t define you, it defines them, their negative thoughts. So don’t be one of them. Let your positivity and kindness flood the world.
this is originally a text one of my best friends - @mondastronaut - wrote as an answer to an ask I got lately and to which I didn’t know how to respond. honestly one of the most beautiful things I ever read
