i’m a big fan of mythology aus, so i thought i’d add my own modern twist to it!

@maidofstars here’s the au lol @2bedroom-baddestbidderlove @bolt8826

For the longest time, the gods lived in the heavens, far from the humans’ reach —at least, that was what people thought. In reality, the gods lived among the humans, silently masquerading as regular people to observe and judge the actions of humankind from up-close and personal. One day, MC, a minor goddess in the guise of a barista, receives a foreboding message from the council of major gods—apparently, all her years of hard work have deemed her a possible candidate fit to join the council. Nervous, she makes her way to the lair of the major gods, or more commonly known to the humans as the penthouse of the Tres Spades Hotel. There, she meets eight of the major gods, and from there on, she has to choose which one will mentor her.

Eisuke: The king of the gods and the god of wealth, prosperity, and abundance. His human front is (surprise, surprise) the CEO of the country’s biggest company. He’s the most beloved god because humans believe he brings prosperity and happiness to them. Because of that, he has the most lavish shrine with the most offerings. Most people don’t know, however, is that he himself used to be human a long, long time ago. As a human, he lived a life of suffering and died in poverty. When he was reborn as a god of wealth, he saw humans as a reflection of his former self—powerless, weak, and helpless. Of course, this changes when MC enters the council. He’s baffled at MC’s dedication to the humans despite how much they shun her, but he eventually comes to realize that there is more to humankind than just what he sees.

Soryu: The god of justice, law, and order. His human front is a feared, but just prosecutor. Like his human persona, he’s also a widely-feared, but respected god. He’s in charge of keeping things in the right place, especially when it concerns social order. His job is arguably one of the most difficult, but he still does the best he can because he believes every human deserves the right to justice. He butts heads with Eisuke most of the time because Eisuke (in spite of being the king of the gods) doesn’t care much for order and  views humans as just tools for amusement. Honestly, some of the gods think Soryu’s efforts at trying to make things better is futile because humans, in their history, are inherently doomed to repeat their cycle of mistakes. At the very least, MC still believes in him, and for that he’s grateful.

Baba: The god of love and attraction. His human front is the owner of a quaint flower shop. Like Eisuke, he’s one of the more popular gods. His shrine is a fountain people thrown coins in so people can make wishes about love. He thinks humans are wonderful, adorable creatures, and he always does what he can to get their love wishes granted. In truth, he chose a job as a flower shop owner because he loves seeing the different people who come in every day to buy flowers for their loved ones. Still, despite being a god of love, he himself has never fallen in love and becomes quite curious about experiencing it for himself when MC becomes a part of the council.

Ota: The god of the arts and inspiration. His human front is a museum curator. People pray to him to look for inspiration and guidance. Being a major patron of the arts (and being an artist himself), he admires humans for their ability to create beautiful works of art. His shrine is the museum he works as a curator for. People leave offerings by the biggest painting in the gallery—a blank canvas. To be honest, he’s been looking for inspiration of his own. For the longest time, he hasn’t found anything worthy of putting up on that blank canvas. However, when he meets MC for the first time, he suddenly knows what to paint on that canvas.

Mamoru: The god of sleep, rest, and dreams. His human front is the receptionist of a quiet little inn. Back then, the other gods used to pick on him for being such a “useless” god. At first, his job and title don’t really seem that valuable as compared to the other gods, but eventually, he gained the respect of the council (and eventually became a member) when they saw how much the humans valued him. Though he doesn’t look like he does much, he’s actually a well-loved god among the humans because he grants them well-rested nights and good dreams. Nevertheless, he’s pretty lowkey about all the praise he gets and is content with his position. He doesn’t have much of an opinion on humans, but if he thinks they’re in the wrong, he grants them nightmares. He’s on good terms with MC and respects her for her dedication to the job.

Shuichi: The god of wisdom and knowledge. His human front is a Political Science professor at a university. He immensely values the pursuit of knowledge, so he specifically chose a day job that would reflect that. People always pray to him or give offerings to his shrine whenever exams are coming up, and he finds that endearing. He’s one of the gods that doesn’t hold a negative opinion of humans; in fact, he’s quite pleased that despite everything humanity has been through, they still try to learn from their mistakes and become better. He wishes his friend Hikaru could see that humans weren’t all that bad. He and MC get along well, as they both enjoy what they do and try to make the best of what they have.

Luke: The god of healing and medicine. His human front is (again surprise, surprise) a surgeon. At the hospital he works in, he’s known as the surgeon with god-like hands because of his skill.  A lot of people always place offerings at his shrine in order for him to grant good health. He isn’t really interested in the affairs of the gods, but when it comes to humans, he gets really passionate. He thinks humans are creatures that have to be protected; unlike the gods, humans are mortal and are prone to sickness. Sometimes, he gets too immersed in his job that isolates himself from the other gods completely. He admires MC for her passion and love for her job.

Hikaru: The god of death and mortality. His human front is a coroner. He’s not a very popular god due to his title. His shrine only gets offerings during funerals, and his name can usually be heard at hospitals or cemeteries. He’s in charge of making sure that humans can successfully move on to the next life. He’s honestly not a very big fan of humans because he’s seen the cruelty they’re capable of. Being a god of death, he’s seen and heard the souls of those who pass on to the afterlife, and some of the things he witnesses aren’t exactly the best reflection of humankind. After a long time of doing this job, he slowly came to hate it. He doesn’t understand why MC loves her job, seeing as though she still loves humans after seeing their true nature for so long.

MC: The goddess of fortune, chance, and luck. Her human front is a barista at a coffee shop. Sadly for her though, she’s not a very favorable goddess because most humans believe she only brings bad luck. She never gets any prayers or wishes from people, and nobody ever turns to her for aid. The other gods look down on her because she gets the least amount of offerings at her tiny, dilapidated shrine. Despite all of that, she still loves humans and wants nothing but for them to be happy (thus her job choice as a barista, so she can make people smile with her coffee). When the major gods recognize her hard work, they invite her to be part of the council and mentor her so that she can gain more recognition from the humans.

This sudden attention is giving him stage fright.

how to survive the house

- get a good night’s rest the day before you arrive. ignore any nightmares you have.
- drive there alone. don’t write down the directions. just go. you will find it.
- take as little there as possible. a lot will not be coming back with you.
- do not take any pictures in or of the house.
- do not pet any cats you happen to see anywhere. they don’t know human touch.
- ignore the holes in the floorboards. they’re not important.
- if you lose something, it’s gone. don’t go looking. you don’t know what you’ll find.
- the streetlights don’t come on until midnight. do not look outside until they do
- there’s nothing under the house. ignore the noises. they’re just pipes.
- do not trust the hallways, they have bad intentions. they will take you somewhere.
- the paint will be peeling. it’s best you don’t touch it.
- do not make eye contact with yourself in the bathroom mirror.
- stay away from certain channels on the tv after dark. you will never find them again
- do not lose the key. it’s all over if you do.
- time passes differently. get used to it. don’t go to bed until it’s dark out. get up at the crack of dawn. cover the clocks, they will lie to you.
- it will be cold. you will begin to forget who you are. let yourself.
- remind yourself that it is just a house. ignore the way the windows rattle sometimes.
- lastly, never look behind you. no matter what. no matter what.

I’ve decided to attempt to do 50k words of random fics for NaNoWriMo this year, so here’s 7912/50000 of self-indulgent vampire fic to start off~

For centuries, she had waited for this moment. She’d listened to the tug of her heart, anticipating when his existence would torture hers again. A few times, she’d missed the mark and there hadn’t been any space to put plans into motion.

But now, it was finally time.

Lightning glanced at the locket down in her hands. It was open to show the miniature portrait inside. Quite honestly, it was an impressive piece of work, something that people these days would claim had been edited or was fake.

Though it’d been so long, she could still recall every tiny brushstroke, the look in his eyes as he dared to catch her glance, the little smirk…

She made an unimpressed sound and snapped the locket shut. That was in the past. Now, finally, she would get her revenge.

Finally, she would destroy the man that had ruined her life.

do me a favor: kiss me until the sun comes up so i have something to write poems about.

i’m tired of writing about places that don’t exist, homes we built and watched burn. i’m tired of pretending that there were no fires; i’m tired of pretending that it doesn’t hurt.

i’m tired of writing letters that no one reads, i’m tired of giving everything to people who don’t love me.

you see things differently when you don’t have home to go back to. a bed is just a bed, an old piano is just cracked black and white keys, a person is just another body with too much potential to ruin you.

so let me love you now, slowly. i am ready to write about something real, something i can prove; i want to write novels about the way you look at me -and baby i can write until your name is inscribed on walls in foreign cities, until the words you say to me are tattooed on stranger’s hearts - but more than anything i want to be able to say that every word i write about you is true.

just give me some time. give me time to figure out how to come back from years of fiction, years of pretend. give me time and i promise, i’ll learn to hold on to the important things and let go of the rest. i’ll learn to breathe without the memories suffocating me.

and then i’ll write, and write, and write; and we’ll never die.

anonymous asked:

Scenario with Tendo Satori proposing to his fem s/o please?

Sooo, I wrote this in the bath which I think was a major part of my inspiration. Lol! But I had so much fun while writing this! Thank you for requesting it, Anon, and I hope you enjoy it!

Everything was leading up to this moment. From the first moment she had seated herself next to him in their shared intro to literature class on their first day of college. Tendou had known then, when she had turned to him and smiled, that this was going to be something great.

It was only two days out of the week they would see each other and for only an hour and a half at a time, plus the occasional study sessions. It wasn’t enough though, not for him, not when he really wanted to know her. And with the end of the semester fast approaching, he could feel the panic of never seeing her again on that large campus. So he reacted impulsively the next time she had gotten up to leave, the words of ‘see you next time’ on her lips when he took hold of her wrist to stop her.

She did stop and Tendou wasn’t sure what he was doing, had no words in his head to say except that he wanted to see her more. The expectancy in her eyes pushed him forward despite his malfunctioning brain as he opened his mouth to let the words “Can I take you on a date?” tumbled out. Instantly, a terror washed over him, because - fuck - what if she said no? Would she even be willing to hang out with him casually if she knew that he wanted more than that? It would be awkward, it would be strange, it would hurt.

The redhead was in the middle of working out a way to fix his mistake when he was brought out of his spiral by the smile that stretched wide across her face. “It’s about time,” her voice held delight as it delivered the small tease. She took hold of the hand that had originally taken hold of her wrist and gave it a small squeeze. “Pick me up Friday.”

He watched her walk away after that, leaving him reeling as he tried to catch up with himself. There was nothing stopping him from smiling for the rest of the week.

Their first date led to a second followed closely by a third. It didn’t take long for them to jump over all the formal dates to declare themselves as an official couple, their fingers linked together as they walked across campus. Kisses were shared in hallways and they made love for the first time on the floor of her dorm with the long forgotten television dimly lighting their actions. And he realized as he loved her that he had never known what love really was until that moment; it had just been some obscure concept until she had brought it meaning.

And with each day he spent with her new meanings emerged within his heart of what love was. Love was her. It was her studying late with a mug of coffee in hand. Love was her hair between his fingers. It was her face when they had moved into their first apartment together. It was her laugh late at night when they had stayed up far past their bedtime. Love was their shared life together.

It was love that led him up to this moment where his long fingers fiddled with the small box he had stored away. Eyes lingered to the open doorway of their shared bathroom where she was soaking in her weekly bubble bath. Maybe the timing was mundane, but it was in this moment that she was entirely her; entirely everything that he loved. She was bare and open and at ease just as he always wanted her to be when she was with him for the rest of their lives.

When he entered into the room, he gaze wandered over her. Her feet were propped on one end, her toes wiggling with the soft beat of the music that played and her head was resting on the other end beneath a pillow, eyes closed as she soaked in the calming atmosphere around her.

Maybe he made a noise or maybe she sensed him, but her eyes soon fell on him, a smile instantly pulling at her lips. “Care to join?” she questioned lazily, hand rising from the bubbles to beckon him closer and there was no way he would ever deny her anything.

Kneeling beside the tub, he leaned to press his mouth to hers, his heart raising in rhythm just as it had the very first time he had been graced to kiss her. “I love you,” he breathed against her mouth, body instinctively moving to capture her mouth once again. She moved back though, a small laugh leaving her lips when he followed. Her hand was at his shirt collar then, gripping him tightly as she pulled into the sudding water. Their laughter mingled as his stuck his hand into the depths of the warm water to support himself and it only took him one more second before he was placing his whole clothed body into the tub with her.

He kissed her again and again and again. He never wanted to stop, never wanted any of it to end. “Marry me?” he questioned against her lips, fingers tracing the length of her jaw and he kissed her when she shuddered against him.

“Yes,” her reply came back quick but just as breathless as he felt. Tendou kissed her again, deeper than the ones previously shared before he was quickly pulling back, his eyes wide and mouth agape. he was sure water was lining the bathroom floor now but he paid it no mind.

“Yes?” he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

“Yes!” she beamed at him, hands reaching for his wet clothes to bring his lips back to her’s.

“You’re saying yes?”

“Yes, you dope! I’m saying yes!” her head fell back as she laughed and it was definitely the most beautiful sight he had ever seen. And he would get to see it everyday for the rest of his life.

“Oh!” Tendou’s hands were dipping into the water then, eyes trying to see past the suds as he searched for that small box. “Here, uh–” he pulled the box free from the depths, turning it over to open and display the ring within, “–[Last Name] [First Name], will you marry me?”

Her eyes darted to the ring for merely a moment before she was looking back up into his eyes. Closing the close distance between them, she brought her mouth to his again, “Yes.”

Merlin AU | The Hour (Part II)

In the middle of the eternal mess that was Merlin’s desk, Arthur found a copy of Casino Royale. The copy was worn but well cared-for showing that it must have been loved.

“Still reading that book, Merlin?”

“Still stating the obvious, Bond?”

“Bond? If I am 007, who does that make you? Moneypenny?” Arthur smirked. “I’ve always thought you were a girl.”

“I am no secretary, thank you very much,” Merlin retorted, snatching the book away from him. “I am your Quartermaster.”

“You must be joking.”

“Don’t you have an important show to produce in five minutes, James?”

“Shut up Q.”

When Arthur left, Merlin opened the book. A photograph fell from the pages. His blue eyes were instinctually drawn to the laughing face of his best friend. Merlin felt a slight twinge in his heart before he quickly put the photograph back in the book and shut it with a snap.

He had an important interview to prepare.

{Part I}

We remember in flashes. The brush of their skin, the laughter that made your sides ache, the nights spent awake running wild and utterly free. Funny thing is, we think it’ll last forever. And when it doesn’t and forever ends, we wonder how long until forever begins.
—  Maybe we can start from the beginning. -gaa
