First Look: The Ferrari 812 Superfast

Ferrari has selected the 87th edition of the Geneva International Motor Show for the world premiere of the new 12-cylinder berlinetta, the 812 Superfast, the most powerful and fastest Ferrari in the marque’s history.

This new car not only introduces a plethora of innovative features but is also particularly significant as the V12 series marked the official start of the glorious Prancing Horse story in 1947, 70 years ago this year.

The 812 Superfast thus ushers in a new era in Ferrari 12-cylinder history, in doing so building on the invaluable legacies of the F12berlinetta and F12tdf. It is aimed at clients demanding the most powerful and exclusive Ferrari in the range: an uncompromising sports car that will deliver exhilarating driving both on road and track yet also be comfortable enough to allow its owners to enjoy it as an all-round experience.

2015 Geneva Motor Show: Hyundai presenta la nuova Tucson…

Per l'erede della ix35, Hyundai è tornata al nome Tucson: la nuova versione è stata svelata oggi, in attesa dell'imminente Salone di Ginevra.

L'auto è tutta nuova, con fari frontali a LED collegati alla griglia(viva la fantasia), posteriore alto e snello e interni rinnovati, con materiali di grande qualità, sedili riscaldabili, portellone con apertura automatica(con bagagliaio ridotto da 591 a 513 litri) e sistema di infotainment tre volte più veloce rispetto a prima.

I motori disponibili saranno due benzina, un 1.6 GDI da 135 cavalli e un 1.6 TGDI Turbo con 176 cavalli, e tre diesel, un 1.7 da 115 cavalli o un 2.0 con 136 o 184 cavalli, combinati con un sei marce manuale(l'automatico a sei rapporti sarà disponibile per le 2.0 diesel, mentre per il turbo-benzina ci sarà il DCT a sette marce, tutti optional).

Sarà costruita in Repubblica Ceca e le vendite avranno inizio nella seconda metà del 2015.

Innovative Features and Advanced Technologies

A suite of state-of-the-art driver assistance systems and infotainment features designed to enhance safety, comfort and convenience make the Bentayga an innovative, advanced and connected luxury SUV.

It offers the widest range of on- and off-road drive settings of any vehicle via Bentley’s Drive Dynamics Mode and optional Responsive Off-Road Setting. Up to eight modes are available, allowing drivers, at the simple turn of a dial, to select the perfect dynamic set-up for any surface or road condition. This versatility is complemented by Bentley Dynamic Ride (electrically activated 48V active roll control) and Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS).

Responsive Off-Road Setting allows the customer to select the appropriate vehicle settings for a wide range of off-road surfaces, while the Driver Information Panel displays information on pitch, roll, wheel articulation, steering angle, compass bearing and altitude.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) including Stop & Go, Predictive ACC and Traffic Assist enables the driver to maintain a set distance to the vehicle in front. Predictive ACC uses the navigation data, sensors and cameras to predict upcoming corners, city boundaries and speed-limit changes and can then modify the vehicle speed accordingly, improving both comfort and fuel economy.

In urban environments, there are a number of driver aids available on the Bentayga. These systems - such as Traffic Sign Recognition, which detects a wide variety of traffic signs and displays information to the driver; Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, which uses radar technology to detect crossing traffic when reversing out of a parking space; and Top View, a system which uses four cameras to display an overall picture of the vehicle’s surroundings - combine to enhance everyday usability.

The Bentayga is also available with Park Assist - a system that detects suitable parking spaces (both parallel and perpendicular) before autonomous steering takes over to support parking manoeuvres, even in narrow and tricky spaces.

Other innovative systems available on the Bentayga include Electronic Night Vision, which uses infra-red technology to identify potential obstacles ahead, and a Head-Up Display, which reduces driver distraction and increases safety.

The Bentayga’s all-new, cutting-edge 8" touch screen infotainment system boasts class-leading navigation technology, a 60GB hard drive, and a choice of up to 30 languages.

Rear seat passengers benefit from the introduction of the Bentley Entertainment Tablet - a removable 10.2" Android device with 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth for effortless, high-speed on-board connectivity.

Customers can choose between three different sound systems for the Bentayga: Bentley Standard Audio, Bentley Signature Audio and Naim for Bentley Premium Audio. The latter is the most powerful system in the segment, with 1,950 watts, a network of 18 speakers and super-tweeters for unrivalled recreation of the highest audio frequencies.

Sculptural Form, Sharp Lines and Elegant Execution

The Bentley Bentayga’s wheel arches, fenders and bonnet deliver a balance between sportiness and SUV presence. The ultra-sharp Bentley power line and muscular rear haunch display a taut tension in side profile, as part of the largest single-piece aluminium pressing in the automotive world. Trademark Bentley features such as the large matrix grille and B-shaped wing vents afford the Bentayga a modern, dynamic elegance.

The grille is flanked by four distinctive floating all-LED headlamps. The lights sit flush within the seamless superformed aluminium front fenders. Innovative design features, like the discreet headlamp washers contained within the outer lamp’s body-coloured centre, demonstrate remarkable attention to detail.

To emphasise the go-anywhere nature of the Bentayga, the Bentley design team have integrated a stylish skid plate into the lower section of the front bumper, just below the floating wing motif.

At the rear, within the segmented tail lights, a new ‘B’-shaped illumination graphic is incorporated that affords the Bentayga an instantly recognisable and striking night-time signature.

A combination of advanced design, innovative engineering and state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies - including the use of lightweight aluminium - has enabled a total weight saving of 236kg compared to a traditional body construction.

As standard, the Bentayga comes with a panoramic glass roof. Making up almost 60 per cent of the total roof surface, the 1.35m2 glass feature is split into two panes. The front panel tilts and slides, and the whole glass surface can be obscured via an electric, full-length roller blind.

Either side of the glass roof are aluminium roof rails that combine two different finishes - a high-gloss black base and bright anodised top section.

A new range of bespoke Bentayga alloy wheels are available, ranging in size from 20" to 22".

Step inside the new Bentayga and you find the finest automotive interior in the world, with handcrafted wood and leather throughout - engineered with precision to deliver absolute perfection.

The attention to detail in metal, wood and leather is the epitome of modern British luxury, and is only achievable thanks to the exceptional skill of the workforce in Crewe.

The Bentley Bentayga’s cockpit sets new standards for both luxury and precision, with meticulous tolerances between the exquisite veneered woods and metal elements. The dashboard takes the iconic Bentley 'wing’ design as its inspiration, with the beautifully finished surfaces flowing gracefully from door to door over the top of the instrument binnacles, down under the centre console and back up around the passenger side fascia and foot well.

The hand-selected veneers form pure and elegant surfaces throughout the cabin, and each of the 15 pieces are shaped by Bentley’s artisans from a choice of seven different veneers, and finished with trademark Bentley attention to detail.

Highly polished, handcrafted metal elements adorn the dashboard, centre console and doors. Trademark Bentley knurling on the drive mode selector, gear knob, iconic bulls-eye vents and organ pulls adds sophistication and tactile refinement.

Sumptuous front seats, individually handcrafted in Crewe and featuring 22-way adjustment including adjustable cushion and backrest bolsters, provide superb support and comfort for all conditions. This cosseted feeling is further enhanced with a six-programme massage system, seat heating and ventilation.

Whether selected in four- or five-seat configuration, all of the leather seats in the Bentayga are available with contrast stitching and a quilted diamond design applied to the 'shoulders’ and bolsters, echoing the design of a finely tailored British hunting jacket.

Bentley specialists individually select only the finest bull hides, all of which are sourced from cool European climates, naturally tanned and never over-printed.. Customers have the choice of 15 colours, in three duo-tone and one single mono-tone colour split.

The four-seat configuration makes the ultimate statement in design, comfort and luxury. The two individual rear seats adjust in 18 different ways and include massage and ventilation functions as well as footrests. The veneered rear console hides additional functionality such as cup holders, generous storage areas and USB charging sockets.

The opulent feeling is completed by the fixed back, dividing the interior cabin from the boot. Also trimmed in the signature diamond quilting and including a ski-hatch, it creates an enclosed rear cabin space that sets new standards in the SUV sector.

A full-length panoramic sunroof with acoustic interlays allows ample natural sunlight to highlight the surfaces and detailing.

Activate the hands-free tailgate and not only is a large, practical storage space revealed, but also another of the Bentayga’s unique features - the optional folding event seat. Ideal for those wishing to stop for a moment and enjoy a spectacular outdoor environment or pursuit, the innovative leather-trimmed folding seat matches exactly the style of the cabin seats and integrates seamlessly into the rear of the car with characteristic attention to detail.

All-New W12 - Efficiency with Unrivalled Power and Torque

At the heart of the Bentley Bentayga is the all-new Crewe-built W12 TSI engine. This 6.0-litre twin-turbo unit combines efficiency and refinement with the luxury of unrivalled power and torque.

It is the most technologically advanced 12-cylinder engine in the world and develops 600 bhp (608 PS / 447 kW) @ 6,000 rpm and 900 Nm (663 lb ft) from 1,250 rpm to 4,500 rpm. These mighty outputs result in equally impressive performance figures. The Bentayga is capable of dispatching the sprint to 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds) on its way to a top speed of 187 mph (301 km/h).

The new W12 uses both direct and indirect fuel injection. Switching seamlessly between the two technologies, the combination of these systems maximises refinement, delivers low particulate emissions and maximises power and torque delivery.

An impressive efficiency figure of 292 g/km CO2 is made possible in part thanks to Bentley’s Variable Displacement system, which shuts down half of the engine under defined conditions. Intake and exhaust valves, fuel injection and ignition are all shut down on defined cylinders, with the engine running as a six-cylinder for improved efficiency.

The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The transmission and four-wheel-drive system has been strengthened to handle the demands and high torque levels of off-road driving.

In Bentley’s advanced application of Start-Stop technology for the Bentayga, coasting is also available, as the engine rests not only when the vehicle is stationary but also at 'near to stop’ speeds.

In 5th to 8th gear, when the driver releases the throttle (at motorway cruising speed, for example) the car will open the torque converter, dropping the engine to idle and simply allowing the car to roll or 'sail’. When the throttle is reapplied, or the car starts going downhill and detects an increase in speed, the transmission is re-engaged.

The new W12 sees a 11.9% efficiency improvement compared to the existing powertrain. The Bentayga will also be available as diesel and hybrid variants in the future.

Genuine Luxury with Go-Anywhere Ability

Never before has a vehicle so coherently combined genuine luxury with go-anywhere driving ability.

The development programme for the Bentayga has been the most exhaustive in the Bentley brand’s history, ranging across five continents. From the dirt and gravel of South Africa and the dunes of Dubai, to the muddy fields of Cheshire, and from -30°C in the frozen North Cape to searing 50°C desert heat, the Bentayga’s ability to perform on any surface and even in the most extreme conditions has been proven.

The Bentayga has also driven more than 400 laps of the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit, as part of developing the dynamic performance of the chassis and fine-tuning the relevant control and stability systems. The unique features of the Nordschleife, including the high level of topographical change, variety of surface grip levels and wide range of cornering speeds, made it the perfect place to develop the fastest, most powerful SUV in the world.

The Bentayga introduces Bentley Dynamic Ride - the world’s first electric active roll control technology that utilises an unrivalled 48V system. Inherent in larger vehicles with a higher centre of gravity, this system instantly counteracts lateral rolling forces when cornering and ensures maximum tyre contact to deliver class-leading cabin stability, ride comfort and exceptional handling.

While conventional anti-roll bars present a compromise between body control and ride comfort, Bentley’s adaptive and reactive system provides variable torsional resistance, allowing the Bentayga to be both dynamically capable and comfortable for all occupants at all times. The pioneering use of a 48V system results in silent, instantaneous responses and sufficient power on hand to deal with all road surfaces.

Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS) is also featured on the Bentayga. The new system improves feedback to the driver, while providing isolation from steering kick-back both on- and off-road. EPAS also features a variable rack ratio, permitting light and fast steering while manoeuvring at low speeds, as well as a more subdued response for excellent stability at high speeds.

The Bentayga offers class-leading ride comfort, steering feel and handling thanks to the partnership of a highly sophisticated chassis and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). In addition to advanced, multi-mode Traction Control (TCS), the Bentayga also features Hill Descent Control (HDC).

HDC automatically regulates the vehicle’s speed on steep declines, allowing the driver to concentrate fully on steering and obstacles ahead. It can be pre-set at speeds between two and 30 km/h (going in either direction) and works on gradients greater than five per cent.

As with all Bentleys, the Bentayga comes with multi-mode air suspension. The Bentayga driver has four different modes to choose from: High 2, High 1, Normal and Low. High 2, for example, can be manually selected when tackling more severe off-road surfaces. Customers can also lower the rear suspension via a switch in the boot, to ease loading and trailer hitching.

Bentley Personalisation Options and Mulliner Bespoke

The Bentley Bentayga redefines personalisation and bespoke luxury. Paint, leather, veneer and lifestyle options are unlimited and tailored to the individual.

The standard palette alone comprises 17 exterior paint colours, with up to 90 hues available in the extended range. There are also 15 luxurious carpet options, seven different handcrafted veneers and 15 choices of interior trim hide, which means that customers are able to specify their own choice of luxury finish. In addition, customers can choose between a new range of bespoke Bentayga alloy wheels, ranging in size from 20" to 22".

Six lifestyle-orientated specification packages will be available from launch, including two styling packs. In addition to these options, the Bentayga is available with the widest range of lifestyle accessories ever offered by the Bentley brand. For example, customers with an interest in watersports may wish to specify the Load-Assist Tray and Wet Gear Stowage options.

As with all Bentleys, the Bentayga can also be handed over to the highly skilled and dedicated craftspeople at Mulliner, who will respond to bespoke customer requirements.

At launch, the Bentley Bentayga is available with an exquisite integrated Mulliner Hamper Set, complete with refrigerator, bespoke fine Linley china cutlery, crockery and crystal glass, and storage area for dry goods. For comfort in the great outdoors, sections of the hamper can be removed and used as seats.

A bespoke mechanical Mulliner Tourbillon by Breitling clock can also be specified. The most complex of watch mechanisms, the Mulliner Tourbillon is automatically wound periodically by a dedicated high-precision winding mechanism within the car. This masterpiece is machined in solid gold (customers can select from either rose or white gold), with a choice of either a mother-of-pearl or black ebony face and decorated with eight diamond indexes.

1. Pacaran

Di kalangan masyarakat, kita percaya bahwa dengan mendapatkan seorang pacar, kita masih belum bisa memastikan apakah si dia adalah jodoh atau bukan. Walaupun banyak pasangan yang tetap bersama, mulai dari pacaran hingga menikah serta hidup tua. Tetap saja, tahap ini sama sekali tidak bisa menjadi ukuran untuk menentukan keaslian jodoh kita. Tiap hari ada ribuan pasangan yang putus hubungan. Tiap saat ada ribuan pemuda pemudi galau di sosmed; nulis status kayak mau mati, videoin dirinya nangis mewek kayak monyet sange, nyebar foto aib mantan lalu ditangkap polisi, sampai ada yang menjual online ginjal dan paru-paru dari tubuh mantannya.

2. Menjadi Istri atau Suami

Banyak orang yang beranggapan, bahwa kata jodoh lebih dikonotasikan sebagai pasangan nikah; istri ataupun suami.

Tapi apa betul tahap ini bisa menjadi tolak ukur keabsahan jodoh kita? Tidak juga. Buktinya tiap hari pengadilan agama selalu menangani perceraian suami-istri. Tiap bulan di infotainment, ada saja artis-artis yang rumah tangganya berantakan dan pisah ranjang. Tiap malam di diskotik, selalu saja terlihat ada janda dan duda yang bertemu setelah baru saja habis cerai, lalu asyik berjoget sambil curhat satu sama lain. Saya tidak pernah ke diskotik.

3. Menjadi Ayah atau Ibu

Pernikahan butuh bukti konkret untuk benar-benar memperkuat bertahannya hubungan suami-istri; buah hati contohnya. Setiap saya nonton film, ketika seorang istri dinyatakan positife hamil, bahagianya minta ampun. Kok teman perempuan saya yang juga dinyatakan positife hamil, stressnya minta ampun. Skip.

Kenapa seorang istri bahagia? Karena dengan ia mempersembahkan seorang anak, ia dapat melantik dirinya menjadi seorang ibu, dan melantik suaminya menjadi seorang ayah. Mereka naik level ke tingkat lebih tinggi dalam berumah tangga. Nah, apakah di level ini, buku nikah bisa dipastikan sebagai print-an file lauhul mahfudz kita? Masih belom. Tiap sekolah, kita punya teman yang orang tuanya kembali jomblo, hingga dikatakan; single parent. Artinya, masih banyak orang tua yang pada akhirnya berpisah pula, bahkan setelah memiliki anak sekalipun.

4. Menjadi Kakek atau Nenek

Sungguh, di tahap ini, saya bener-bener ingin mengatakan, “Tolong, wahai pasangan kakek-nenek, janganlah ada satupun di antara kalian yang berpisah. Supaya kita betul-betul mendapatkan barometer yang pas, untuk menentukan kapan jodoh itu bisa dipastikan. Lagian, pensil alis sudah tak bisa lagi diukir dengan lurus karena keriputmu. Punggung kuatmu tak bisa lagi bergendongan dengan pasangan barumu.” Dua kalimat terakhir abaikan.

Saya punya kenalan, seorang adik junior pas sekolah dulu. Dialah orang pertama yang membuatku mendengar kabar bahwa kakeknya menikah lagi dengan nenek cabe-cabean di kampung sebelah sana. Bahkan saya sempat melihat berita di Tribun Kaltim, “Dari tahun 2011 hingga Juli 2015, terjadi 242 kasus perceraian kakek-nenek.” Masya Allah, padahal kakek-nenek adalah ukuran kebahagiaan terbesar setiap cucu yang main ke kampung halaman ayah atau ibunya.

5. Ditinggal Mati Pasangan

Saya adalah tipe orang yang sulit move on. Jadi, saya tidak habis pikir, jika saat jaman sekolah saja saya sangat sulit melupakan mantan kekasih, bagaimana nanti kalau ditinggal mati oleh istri? Saya tau setiap perkataan itu doa. Tapi, tolong Malaikat, ini hanya umpama saja, jangan turut mengaminkan kalimat barusan. Bisa bisa, saya juga bakal mengakhiri hidup, dengan sengaja lompat dari pohon terong.

Kita lihat fakta deh, seorang suami atau istri yang ditinggal mati oleh pasangannya pun, banyak yang menikah lagi. Makanya jika ada undangan pernikahan yang nama mempelainya bertitel DD dan JD. Itu artinya, pasangan nikah tersebut adalah duda dan janda. Juga besar kemungkinan mereka ditinggal mati oleh pasangannya. Kondisi inilah yang banyak digambarkan sinetron-sinetron; dispalitas cinta keluarga oleh ibu baru. Sebab ibu tiri, hanya cinta kepada ayahku saja. Tapi bila ayah pergi ku dinista dan dicaci.. kok malah nyanyi.

Lalu kapan kita bisa memastikan bahwa seorang tersebut benar-benar pasangan yang dimaksudkan Tuhan, jika ketika ia mati pun, kita tetap bisa menemukan satu orang lain untuk bersanding lagi dengan kita?

Kesimpulannya; semua tahap kehidupan di atas memungkinkan kita untuk saling meninggalkan hubungan dan saling bertukar pasangan. Jadi, mana sebenarnya pasangan yang betul-betul bisa kita yakini sebagai garis takdir yang Tuhan beri?

Ada yang lebih bijak untuk dapat menjawab pertanyaan di atas. Tapi menurut saya pribadi, teorinya adalah; jodoh tidak diketahui dari kapan masanya, tapi bagaimana kita mendapatkannya. Kita mendapat pasangan hidup lewat jalan yang sesuai rindho-Nyakah? Atau lewat jalan yang dimurkai-Nyakah?

Tuhan telah memberi kita bocoran tentang bagaimana sosok jodoh kita. Sehingga sedikit banyaknya bisa menjadi acuan, selama kita mencarinya di jalan yang ditetapkan.

“ Wanita-wanita yang tidak baik untuk laki-laki yang tidak baik, dan laki-laki yang tidak baik adalah untuk wanita yang tidak baik pula. Wanita yang baik untuk lelaki yang baik dan lelaki yang baik untuk wanita yang baik.“ (Qs. An Nur:26)

Sederhananya, jodoh adalah cerminan diri. Maka jika kita menginginkan pasangan yang baik, maka proses menemukan jodoh adalah proses menjadikan diri lebih baik. Jika kita menginginkan pasangan terbaik, maka untuk menemukannya jadikan diri kita bagian terbaik dari yang bisa kita lakukan.

Maka dua kunci ini yang akan mengantarkan kita pada jodoh yang sesungguhnya. Pertama, dengan berusaha semaksimal mungkin untuk memantaskan diri mendapatkan pasangan terbaik kita. Kedua, dengan selalu ikhtiar penuh di jalan yang direstuiNya. Maka selebihnya, kita hanya perlu tawakkal atas segala keputusanNya. Insya Allah, jalan kebaikan akan menunjukkan kita pada tujuan akhir yang baik pula.

Apple is catastrophically late to the self-driving car game

After thinking that the Apple Car — “Project Titan” — was pretty much dead, we saw it crawl from the grave via a filing in California to test a self-driving technology on public roads.

With this move, Apple joins a host of other automakers and tech companies that are already permitted to test their autonomous experiments on the Golden State’s highways and byways.

And thanks to some intrepid reporting by Business Insider’s Kif Leswing, we now have some idea of what Apple is actually up to. 

The tech giant is clearly developing some type of self-driving car technology. That much is obvious from the test vehicle setup, which consists of a Lexus SUV with self-driving controls in the backseatUp front, it’s a regular old steering wheel, so that if anything goes wrong, a human driver can take over. I’m pretty sure that the “fly by wire” system is something that Apple has engineered in a bolt-on capacity.

There are some serious problems with this approach. For starters, bolt-on technology doesn’t work, you have to develop a self-driving technology that’s designed to be integrated into a vehicle as it’s assembled — but that’s beside the point.

The real takeaway here is that Apple’s self-driving program, although evidently not dead, might as well be. 

This is because Apple has fallen catastrophically far behind the competition. 

Just for the record, Google started outfitting Lexus SUVs back in 2009 with the first of its own self-driving technologies. Eight years later, Google has become Alphabet and the Google Car has become Waymo — and Waymo has racked up an enormous number of self-driven miles, with precisely zero monetization in sight.

Waymo’s concept of a self-driving car is very out-there, very futuristic. Meanwhile, Tesla has been taking a here-and-now approach with its Autopilot semi-self-driving tech: incremental improvement through software and hardware updates. It, too, has been racking up the real-world miles.

A lot of other automakers have been reeling in experimental miles including Ford, General Motors, BMW, Mercedes, and Audi. In fact, almost every major car company has some kind of autonomous plan under construction.

And let’s not forget about Uber, which stunned the auto establishment last year when it debuted its fleet of self-driving cars in Pittsburgh.

So let’s run through what the self-driving world is up to:

The self-driving systems powering these cars use similar hardware, but are ultimately different. 

Some companies are using complex and expensive laser-radar or Lidar systems, some have combined radars and sensors, and some are using cameras. It’s not entirely clear yet what Apple’s setup consists of, but according to BI’s reporting, the training protocol demands some simple maneuvers and scenarios. 

Maybe Apple’s systems and/or vehicles are capable of more. Maybe. But the permit applications suggest that Apple has made rudimentary at best progress on autonomy. 

I have a theory about this, which is that Apple was at one time, under Project Titan, working on a fully-fledged car with a radically innovative driver/infotainment interface, an electric powertrain, and some self-driving capability.

Given that I’ve been saying the Apple Car is vaporware since the get-go, I still think that Project Titan writ large has been abandoned. But Apple has probably decided to keep the self-driving component going and is likely focusing most of its efforts on developing the software for autonomous vehicles. Hence the crude-looking setup in the test vehicle.

The problem is it has to play catch-up. Apple has a gigantic heap of cash to spend on doing just that. But sometimes, money isn’t enough when you’re running a decade behind.

Tahun lalu, Majalah Time menulis judul di atas sebagai berita utama untuk salah satu edisinya. Judul lengkapnya “The Me Me Me Generation: Millennials are lazy, entitled narcissists who still live with their parents”. Saya mengetahui edisi Time tersebut saat sedang main-main di Periplus PIM bersama Oknum F, Oknum V, dan Oknum N. Saat Oknum F menunjukkan majalah Time tersebut kepada saya, saya langsung tersenyum-senyum melihatnya, merasa tersindir. Bahan yang sebenarnya tidak penting itu diangkat menjadi satu bahasan khusus oleh Time. Berarti ada suatu masalah yang penting pada generasi Millennials ini.

Siapakah generasi Millennials? Mereka adalah saya, kamu, dan orang-orang di sekitar yang sebagian besar waktu kita habiskan bersamanya. Seperti model yang digambarkan dalam cover majalah tersebut (gambar seorang perempuan remaja berbaring sambil berpose narsis menggunakan ponsel), mereka adalah generasi yang lahir di kisaran tahun 1980-2000. Generasi Millennials biasa juga disebut generasi Y (sebagian menyebut juga generasi Z, merujuk pada sebutan generasi X untuk orang-orang yang lahir sebelum generasi ini), generasi Echo Boomers (karena generasi Millennials adalah anak-anak dari para generasi Baby Boomers), generasi Net (generasi yang tidak bisa hidup tanpa internet), generasi Boomerang (disebabkan kecenderungan generasi ini untuk hidup kembali bersama orang tua setelah lulus kuliah), generasi Peter Pan (kecenderungan generasi ini mengalami fase remaja yang lebih lama dibandingkan generasi sebelumnya, akan dijelaskan kemudian). Generasi Millennials, untuk mudahnya, adalah para remaja masa kini hingga mereka yang berusia 20 tahunan. Mereka inilah yang dalam hidupnya memiliki 4 kebutuhan pokok: sandang, pangan, colokan, dan internet. Mereka adalah golongan yang percaya internet sama pentingnya dengan makanan dan air sehingga hampir seluruh dari mereka tidur bersama ponsel di sisinya. Merekalah penguasa utama (penyedia konten, kritikus, komentator, penonton, konsumen) di jagat dunia maya. Generasi Millennials selalu terkoneksi ke dalam dunia maya dan percaya bahwa hidupnya akan menjadi sulit tanpa aplikasi-aplikasi yang mereka download di Playstore atau Apple App Store. Generasi Millennials memiliki telepon genggam, tetapi jarang menggunakannya untuk bertelepon. Mereka adalah spesies pertama di dunia ini yang menjadikan ngetweet sebagai bagian dari aktivitas sosial sehari-hari. Bagi para Millennials, kebutuhan papan tidak terlalu penting. Ada tiga alasan: harga properti tidak terjangkau kantong mereka, mereka masih tinggal dengan orang tua (bahkan hingga mereka sudah menikah sekalipun), dan kebutuhan mobilitas yang lebih besar (sehingga membeli mobil adalah pilihan yang lebih rasional bagi mereka).

Dalam memandang diri mereka, generasi Millennials percaya bahwa mereka adalah orang-orang yang supel, open-minded, cerdas, bertanggung jawab, peduli, mandiri, kreatif, dan antusias. Namun, data yang ada menunjukkan insidens gangguan kepribadian narsisistik (atau mendekati narsisistik) pada generasi Millennials mencapai hampir 3 kali lipat dibandingkan generasi Baby Boomers (mereka yang lahir pasca perang dunia kedua hingga tahun 1960-an). Sehingga, generasi Millennials cenderung untuk menilai diri mereka lebih, jauh dari realita diri sebenarnya. Generasi Millennials adalah pemuja ketenaran. Dalam sebuah survey, banyak remaja di US memiliki keinginan untuk bekerja sebagai asisten pribadi seorang tokoh terkenal atau memiliki pekerjaan yang memiliki potensi dikenal banyak orang. Ada tiga masalah utama yang dihadapi oleh generasi Millennials ini, yaitu narsisistik, materialisme, dan ketergantungan pada teknologi.

Hidup di era yang kompetitif, generasi Millennials harus bersaing dan berusaha keras untuk menjadi yang terbaik. Salah satu modal yang mereka andalkan adalah kepercayaan dan penghargaan diri. Mereka percaya bahwa dengan memiliki penghargaan terhadap diri sendiri yang baik, mereka akan dihormati oleh masyarakat. Sayangnya, dengan mencoba meningkatkan nilai penghargaan diri, mereka secara tidak sadar juga meningkatkan nilai-nilai narsisistik di dalam diri. Bukannya mendaki gunung untuk tujuan melihat dunia secara luas, mereka justru berusaha mendaki gunung tertinggi supaya dapat dilihat oleh dunia, untuk menjadi pusat perhatian. Ketika mereka sudah berhasil mencapai gunung yang tinggi dan, ternyata, penghargaan dunia tidak sebanding dengan apa yang mereka harapkan, mereka lantas jatuh dalam kekecewaan. Tidak heran angka depresi pada generasi ini begitu tinggi.

Angka narsisistik meningkat seiring dengan bantuan berbagai aplikasi sosial media yang mempermudah setiap orang menjual dirinya sendiri. Istilah selfie pun muncul. Perangkat tongsis menjadi primadona di mana-mana. Bayi dan anak-anak saat ini sudah belajar narsis sejak dini, dimulai dari lingkungan keluarga serta media. Seorang bayi usia 1 tahun di masa kini memiliki foto diri yang lebih banyak dibandingkan seorang tokoh terkenal di abad ke-19.

Melalui sosial media, generasi Millennials mengubah diri mereka sebagai sebuah merk atau barang dagangan dengan teman dan follower sebagai konsumennya. Mereka berusaha keras mendapatkan penerimaan dari banyak orang melalui sosial media sehingga fokus pandang mereka adalah diri sendiri. Kemampuan mereka pun menjadi rendah dalam hal memahami sudut pandang orang lain. Kemampuan empati mereka menunjukkan penurunan yang signifikan sejak tahun 2000an akibat semakin berkurangnya interaksi tatap muka dan semakin parahnya derajat narsisistik.

Sebagai pemain utama dalam dunia teknologi dan internet, generasi Millennials seolah membangun dunia baru untuk generasinya dengan keahlian yang mereka miliki, berhadap-hadapan dengan industri yang telah lebih dulu mapan. Misalnya saja, bloggers (berhadapan dengan media cetak), artis youtube (berhadapan dengan musisi profesional), pembuat aplikasi mobile (berhadapan dengan industri IT), dan twitter-famous (berhadapan dengan selebriti infotainment). Melalui dunia teknologi dan internet yang mereka bangun ini, mereka menjadi begitu tergantung dengan teknologi, jika tidak mau disebut kecanduan. Mereka hidup di dalamnya, di dunia maya. Mereka nyaman dan bertahan di sana.

Setiap orang di setiap generasi memiliki fase hidup yang sama, anak-anak, lalu remaja, lalu dewasa. Generasi Millennials memiliki fase remaja yang lebih panjang dibandingkan generasi-generasi sebelumnya. Hal ini diakibatkan, kemajuan teknologi dan pendidikan mengakibatkan mereka dengan mudahnya dapat berinteraksi dengan teman sebaya. Interaksi dengan teman sebaya yang intens meningkatkan potensi tekanan sosial teman sebaya (peer pressure) dalam hidup mereka. Padahal, peer pressure ini bersifat anti-intelektual. Untuk bisa mencapai kedewasaan dalam hal intelektual, seseorang harus sering berinteraksi dengan orang-orang yang lebih tua usianya. Akibat peer pressure ini, generasi Millennials lebih terlambat mencapai kedewasaan. Hal ini berbeda dengan generasi sebelumnya di mana teknologi IT masih belum menemukan bentuknya dan akses terhadap pendidikan sangat terbatas sehingga generasi tersebut banyak berinteraksi dengan orang yang lebih tua di keluarganya atau di tempat kerjanya.

Generasi Millennials berinteraksi hampir di sebagian besar hidupnya melalui ponsel. Tujuh puluh persen dari mereka mengakses ponsel setiap jam. Interaksi yang terjadi di antara mereka adalah interaksi melalui layar kaca di permukaan gadget. Mereka sangat giat bersosial media dan teradiksi oleh dopamin yang meningkat di dalam diri mereka ketika seseorang menambahkan like atau merespon postingan mereka. Padahal, akibat adiksi ini, lama-kelamaan kreativitas seseorang bisa menjadi semakin tumpul. Diketahui, angka kreativitas generasi Millennials semakin rendah sejak tahun 1998.

Beberapa waktu lalu, Oknum G memberikan link sebuah artikel dari Huffington Post kepada saya tentang analisis yang memaparkan kenyataan mengapa generasi Millennials ini menjadi generasi yang tidak bahagia. Jika zaman dahulu kita mengenal istilah rumput tetangga selalu terlihat lebih hijau, hal itu terjadi ketika kita membandingkan kekurangan diri kita dengan kelebihan orang lain. Tetapi di masa pencitraan media yang begitu kuat saat ini, tingkat depresi, frustasi semakin meningkat. Ini terjadi karena kita membandingkan kelemahan diri kita dengan kelebihan orang lain yang sudah dicitrakan puluhan kali lebih baik dari yang sebenarnya.

Selain sifat-sifat yang negatif yang dipaparkan di atas, ada banyak juga hal positif yang dimiliki oleh generasi Millennials dibandingkan generasi pendahulu mereka, di antaranya mereka adalah tipe family oriented (menganggap keluarga sebagai elemen penting dalam hidup mereka), berpendidikan (memiliki akses pendidikan tinggi yang lebih besar), memiliki nilai toleransi yang tinggi (akibat terbiasa hidup di lingkungan multi-etnis, ras, dan agama), optimistik, menyukai tantangan baru, dan memiliki visi jauh ke depan (terbiasa berpikir 2-3 langkah ke depan).

Pada akhirnya, generasi Millennials bukanlah generasi yang anomali, bukan pula sebuah spesies baru di muka bumi ini. Setiap generasi memiliki caranya tersendiri untuk beradaptasi dengan keadaan lingkungan di masanya agar dapat bertahan hidup. Demikian pula generasi Millennials, setiap hal yang mereka lakukan adalah sebuah upaya bagi mereka untuk beradaptasi dengan lingkungan. Di masa generasi Millennials ini, informasi adalah kunci. Informasi adalah segalanya. Seperti yang pernah dituliskan Oknum A di status jejaring sosialnya bahwa saat ini ada banyak pribadi unggul di muka bumi, tetapi tidak semua orang mendapat kesempatan yang sama. Untuk itulah akses terhadap informasi menjadi pembedanya, mana orang-orang yang akan melesat jauh ke depan, mana yang akan tertinggal di belakang. Informasi atau mati, mungkin itu semboyan hidup saat ini. Hidup para Millennials.

Menjadi generasi Millennials yang tidak memble, tapi kece:

1. Tidak semua hal bisa kita Googling. Hal-hal seperti pengalaman dan kebijaksanaan hidup akan didapat dengan berguru kepada orang-orang yang berasal dari generasi sebelum kita. Belajarlah menjadi dewasa bersama mereka.

2. Tidak semua hal ada di Playstore atau Apple App Store. Tuhan tidak punya situs jejaring sosial. Masalah tidak bisa diselesaikan hanya dengan update status. Dengan terkoneksi ke internet, tidak berarti semua hal akan kita ketahui. Dunia maya tidak selalu memberikan solusi untuk masalah dunia nyata.

3. Karena informasi adalah sesuatu yang berharga, maka salah satu perbuatan baik yang bisa dilakukan oleh generasi Millennials adalah berbagi informasi kepada sesama: informasi yang benar, informasi yang baik, dan informasi yang berguna.

4. Kita adalah bagian dari generasi narsisistik. Kita tidaklah sespesial yang kita kira. Untuk saat ini. Kita adalah bagian dari orang yang biasa-biasa saja. Kita akan menjadi spesial, seiring dengan waktu dan seiring dengan usaha keras yang kita lakukan.

Mercedes-Benz Announces Pricing for S-Class Coupé Range

The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé is now on sale, with prices starting at £104,115 for the S 560. The Mercedes-AMG S 63 costs from £128,015, while the AMG S 65 is available from £189,615.

The S 560 replaces the outgoing S 500, and introduces a new 4.0-liter biturbo V8 petrol unit capable of producing 469 hp and 700 Nm of torque. It has an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph, and can sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds. It emits 188 g/km of CO2, and delivers up to 34 mpg combined.

The AMG S 63 uses AMG’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo petrol engine, generating 612 hp and 900 Nm. It can achieve up to 31.7 mpg on the combined cycle. The S 65 is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 petrol engine which has an output of 630 hp and 1000 Nm, and delivering 23.7 mpg. Both cars are electronically limited to a top speed of 155 mph. The S 63 can travel from 0 to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds, while the S 65 takes just 4.1 seconds.

Pertanyaan menarik : Sering orang berkata, laki-laki dilihat masa depannya, wanita dilihat masa lalunya, bagaimana menurut mas Gun?

Ini saya jawab :

Saya akan menjawab dengan pendapat pribadi, jadi ini subjektif ya :)

Menurut saya, kalimat tersebut sangat picik dan cenderung menyudutkan perempuan. Saya laki-laki dan ketika membicarakan perempuan saya selalu berkaca bagaimana bila itu adalah ibu saya, saudara perempuan saya, atau istri dan anak-anak perempuan saya nantinya.

Masa lalu itu dimiliki setiap orang, baik laki-laki dan perempuan. Tidak ada yang salah dengan masa lalu. Sayangnya, manusia di jaman kita ini senang sekali membicarakan masa lalu sampai dibuat di program televisi sebagai infotainment (hiburan informasi). Saat informasi mengenai aib justru dijadikan bahan hiburan. Ya keadaan memang seperti itu kan sekarang.

Kalimat pernyataan bahwa “Laki-laki dilihat dari masa depan dan perempuan dari masa lalu” seperti propaganda untuk menguntungkan laki-laki saja. Saya lebih suka melihat seseorang di masa sekarang dan visinya di masa depan lalu dilihat bagaimana dulu dia di masa lalu. Masa depan-sekarang-masa lalu adalah satu kesatuan. Berada dalam satu jiwa dalam satu individu dan jasad. Masing-masing memilikinya dan tidak bisa dipisahkan satu sama lain. Kecuali orang itu amnesia, tapi tetap saja orang lain akan menyimpan memori tentang masa lalunya itu.

Perempuan, dengan segala penghormatan saya. Sebab ibu saya adalah seorang perempuan. Masa depan yang ada padanya jauh lebih penting daripada apa yang terjadi di masa lalunya. Seburuk apapun masa lalu itu.

Bahkan Allah saja selalu memberikan kesempatan kepada manusia untuk mengubah dirinya menjadi baik. Memaafkan masa lalu yang mungkin penuh kesalahan.

Bila kita berada dalam posisi itu, dilihat dari masa lalunya. Apa kita mau? Coba tanya ke diri sendiri :)

Kita semua diajarkan untuk berprasangka baik, kan? :)

Apple is catastrophically late to the self-driving car game

After thinking that the Apple Car — “Project Titan” — was pretty much dead, we saw it crawl from the grave via a filing in California to test a self-driving technology on public roads.

With this move, Apple joins a host of other automakers and tech companies that are already permitted to test their autonomous experiments on the Golden State’s highways and byways.

And thanks to some intrepid reporting by Business Insider’s Kif Leswing, we now have some idea of what Apple is actually up to. 

The tech giant is clearly developing some type of self-driving car technology. That much is obvious from the test vehicle setup, which consists of a Lexus SUV with self-driving controls in the backseatUp front, it’s a regular old steering wheel, so that if anything goes wrong, a human driver can take over. I’m pretty sure that the “fly by wire” system is something that Apple has engineered in a bolt-on capacity.

There are some serious problems with this approach. For starters, bolt-on technology doesn’t work, you have to develop a self-driving technology that’s designed to be integrated into a vehicle as it’s assembled — but that’s beside the point.

The real takeaway here is that Apple’s self-driving program, although evidently not dead, might as well be. 

This is because Apple has fallen catastrophically far behind the competition. 

Just for the record, Google started outfitting Lexus SUVs back in 2009 with the first of its own self-driving technologies. Eight years later, Google has become Alphabet and the Google Car has become Waymo — and Waymo has racked up an enormous number of self-driven miles, with precisely zero monetization in sight.

Waymo’s concept of a self-driving car is very out-there, very futuristic. Meanwhile, Tesla has been taking a here-and-now approach with its Autopilot semi-self-driving tech: incremental improvement through software and hardware updates. It, too, has been racking up the real-world miles.

A lot of other automakers have been reeling in experimental miles including Ford, General Motors, BMW, Mercedes, and Audi. In fact, almost every major car company has some kind of autonomous plan under construction.

And let’s not forget about Uber, which stunned the auto establishment last year when it debuted its fleet of self-driving cars in Pittsburgh.

The self-driving systems powering these cars use similar hardware, but are ultimately different. 

Some companies are using complex and expensive laser-radar or Lidar systems, some have combined radars and sensors, and some are using cameras. It’s not entirely clear yet what Apple’s setup consists of, but according to BI’s reporting, the training protocol demands some simple maneuvers and scenarios. 

Maybe Apple’s systems and/or vehicles are capable of more. Maybe. But the permit applications suggest that Apple has made rudimentary at best progress on autonomy. 

I have a theory about this, which is that Apple was at one time, under Project Titan, working on a fully-fledged car with a radically innovative driver/infotainment interface, an electric powertrain, and some self-driving capability.

Given that I’ve been saying the Apple Car is vaporware since the get-go, I still think that Project Titan writ large has been abandoned. But Apple has probably decided to keep the self-driving component going and is likely focusing most of its efforts on developing the software for autonomous vehicles. Hence the crude-looking setup in the test vehicle.

The problem is it has to play catch-up. Apple has a gigantic heap of cash to spend on doing just that. But sometimes, money isn’t enough when you’re running a decade behind.

So I’ve bought this book recently, Unnatural Selection

…and it’s very, very interesting to read about the early versions of the script, and scenes that were shortened or cut. One of the things that changed the most is the concept of the Infotainments made by the DJ in Light City.

One particular version of the concept has to be seen to be believed ; it took me a while to make that post, but Yellowbessie recently got the book too and we briefly talked about that particular version yesterday since we were both baffled by it, so yeah, here goes nothing.

Tulisan : Belajar Menerima

Dulu, semasa pengetahuan kita masih sebatas apa yang kita lihat. Kita menilai seseorang hanya karena bisa tidaknya dia main basket, atau pintar tidaknya dia dikelas, atau piawai tidaknya dia main gitar, atau bahkan dari sekedar wajahnya bagaimana. Dulu, ketika kita hanya tahu sebatas itu. Mungkin kita akan tertawa mengetahui kita pernah memiliki pemikiran yang demikian.

Hari ini, ketika apa yang kita ketahui semakin luas. Orang yang kita temui pun semakin banyak. Bahkan buku yang kita baca pun semakin beragam. Kita tahu bahwa ada beberapa hal yang menarik dari diri seorang manusia.

Pertama bahwa kebaikan itu nilainya relatif, setiap masing-masing kita pun menilai berbeda atas kebaikan orang lain. Kebaikan tidak lagi kita ukur dari harta, wajah, ataupun tingkat kecerdasan. Karena kebaikan akan selalu menjadi kebaikan sekalipun dilakukan oleh seorang preman pasar, pemulung, pejabat negara, siapapun itu.

Kedua bahwa setiap orang memiliki masa kelamnya masing-masing, ada yang sangat kelam ada yang tidak begitu kelam. Sifatnya relatif. Dan kita sendiri pun memilikinya. Setiap orang berusaha menguburnya dalam-dalam, kita pun demikian. Tapi, ada orang-orang yang pekerjaannya suka menggali itu semua, dijadikan komoditi infotainment, ataupun bahan obrolan. Pelajarannya adalah keburukan akan selalu menjadi keburukan sekalipun dikerjakan oleh seorang ahli agama, pejabat negara, siapapun itu.

Tidak pernah sesuatu hal buruk menjadi sebuah kebaikan hanya gara-gara yang melakukannya orang (yang dianggap) alim. Tidak demikian.

Hari ini pun saat kita semua sedang berkelana sendirian, mencari teman untuk melakukan perjalanan. Kita belajar bahwa teman itu tidak selalu dalam bentuk yang sempurna. Kadang dan lebih sering yang terbaik itu justru yang kita perbaiki. Yang paling tepat itu justru yang selalu bermufakat.

Karena setiap perjalanan manusia itu berbeda, ada yang terjal, ada yang lurus, ada yang mengayuh sepeda, ada yang mendayung perahu. Teman yang kita butuhkan pun tidak sama antara satu dengan yang lain.

Kita tengah belajar untuk melihat seseorang melalui pikiran dan hati kita secara utuh dan jujur. Tidak lagi dari bagaimana parasnya, tidak lagi dari bagaimana cerdas dirinya. Tapi, menyadari dan jujur pada diri sendiri dan mengakui bahwa kita membutuhkannya meskipun, bukan tapi.

Kita akan belajar menerima orang lain melalui bagaimana kita menerima diri sendiri. Pada akhirnya yang terbaik itu mungkin benar adalah ia yang bersedia diperbaiki. Saling memperbaiki lebih tepatnya :)
