Angel Wings Part 1

The size and design of angel wings has changed several times throughout Supernatural’s 13 seasons. Most of the time these are mainly changes to the wing shadows which can easily be explained by shadows always being slightly distorted. Many things can distort the look of the wing shadows, the distance the angel is from a wall, the source of the light making the shadow, and the fact that angel’s never stand in front of a flat surface when displaying their wings.  Another way that I rationalize the differences in the sizes and shapes of angel wings is that the angels are all unique individuals so it would make sense that they would come in all sorts of sizes like people.

One thing i have had trouble understanding is the anatomy of angel wings. In particular Castiel’s wings as seen in 12x23 and 13x01. This is what the bone structure looks like to me but that doesn’t really match up to the shape of the angel wing skeletons we have seen before. 12.23 suggested a similar shape to the shape seen in 13.01 but it’s really hard to see.

Here are Castiel’s wings from 10.18. Besides some differences in size they seem to look exactly the same as Gadreel’s damaged wings in 9x02, and Benjamin’s and Ishim’s damaged wings in 12.10.

So why do Castiel’s wings look so different in 12x23 and 13x01? What is exactly is going on with the bone structure of angel wings on Supernatural? This has been bothering me since May and I have a theory but it is in no way perfect. One thing to note is usually angel wing prints are painted but in 12x23, and 13x01 Cas is laying on top of sand. I think that is why the wings were added to the footage later so someone wouldn’t have to try to paint something on top of the sand.  I think whoever added the wings in just happened to make them a little different, but lets give them the benefit of the doubt and try to figure this out.

This is the anatomy of a bird’s wing it is very similar to our arm. The previously seen damaged wings where we can clearly see the bones (including Castiel’s wings in 10x18) seem to match this bone structure.

Castiel’s wings in 13x01 do not match.

This has lead me to wonder if the first joint we see closest to Castiel’s body is a second shoulder. This would actually explain a lot of the anatomical problems with angel’s wings such as how high they can raise them and their shape. Which shouldn’t be possible if angel wings were exactly like a birds wings. @trisscar368 Came to a very similar conclusion except that I don’t think the bone, between Castiel’s body and his humerus, is a scapula. I think it’s a coracoid. The coracoid plays a very important role in bird flight because it attaches a bird’s wings to their sternum. Similarly I am wondering if this is the bone that connects an angel’s vessel to their wings.

So if angels have a second “shoulder” just to operate their wings this would explain why Castiel doesn’t have to move when he shows off his wing shadows, why angels can raise their wings so far up when extended which would be impossible for a bird to do, and some strange things about the shape of angel wings. But how does this theory fit with what we have seen of angel wing bone structure before? It actually fits very nicely with Gadreel’s wings because you can actually see this second shoulder just behind Sam’s shoulder.

This implies that most of the time it’s hidden behind the angel’s vessel and we only see it here because of the angle. Also there is a lot about Castiel’s wings in 10.18 that suggests we may not be seeing everything. Shadows are very easy to distort which makes them pretty unreliable when trying to get a picture of anything. I made a trace of Castiel’s bone structure as seen in 10x18 and superimposed it on a scaled picture of Castiel’s wing shadows from 8x07

It didn’t really match up.

But if you think about it according to what we see in 13x01 as far as bone structure. The shape of wing shadows actually matches up a lot better.

I think part of the differences can be explained by the angel’s with damaged wings not fully bringing their wings all the way up. Maybe the fact that there is exposed bone makes this movement impossible. Also if the coracoid attaches an angel’s wings to their vessel maybe it isn’t always visible when an angel dies. I am wondering if this is the bridge between a vessel and an angel’s trueform, that the reason we didn’t see it before is because those angels like Ishim and Benjamin were not alone in their vessels.  The reason the coracoid shows up on Castiel’s wings in 13x01 is because Castiel is literally more attached to his vessel seeing that it only belongs to him.

I know this theory isn’t perfect and I would love to have more input on what everyone thinks about this. I also understand that there probably wasn’t quite this much thought put into Castiel’s wings in 13x01.

I had to break this post down into parts. I don’t know how many parts but right now I am thinking about three.

@northern-sparrow is the fandom’s wing expert because they are an ornithologist in real life but this is my best stab at trying to figure this out because it has been bothering me since 12x23. Here is their post on Castiel molting after rescuing Dean from hell. I know a few people were looking for it.

I tagged some people who were interested in the ask I got a few days ago about this.

“Originally Isis was connected with royalty and not with any part of the cosmos but her role in the Osiris myths linked her to events which were of cosmic significance. As the cult of Isis and Osiris grew so did her importance and her aspects started to diversify. The Greco-Roman Isis kept all of her Egyptian powers and added more from the strong Greek influence in Egypt, particularly in the Delta region. She eventually becomes a beneficial Goddess of nature, a Saviour and, to many, the sole Goddess. There is a danger of being ‘all things to all men’ and through that losing uniqueness and individuality. Did this happen to Isis? Have we lost the character and essence of Isis as she transforms into the generic All-Goddess? How much of the Egyptian Isis was present for her followers in the Classical Period? From about 500 BCE Isis develops from an Egyptian Goddess into a pan-Mediterranean Goddess that virtually everyone could find a connection to. What was behind this meteoric rise? Was it Isis or the aspects attached to her which were so important and how much was manufactured for political reasons?”

Hello! I was wondering how could one write romance relevant to the plot. I don't want random ships in my novel and I haven't got a clue as to how I could make it significant to the story.

This might help: Taking the “Unnecessary” Out of “Romantic Subplot”

Some more specific tips are:

- This might be pretty obvious, but make sure both characters are major plot players. If one of them is erased, the plot should fall apart or be forced to go in a very different direction.

- Their romance, how it starts and develops, needs to make sense with their backstories and personalities. Creating Romantic Feelings Between Characters and Different Ways Characters Can Show Love cover a form of this.

- There doesn’t have to be intense drama over potential for breakup, but real-life couples do have disagreements and argue. Let disagreements affect how the plot plays out.

- Make sure they’re each unique individuals, are well-developed in their own way, and contribute to each other’s development over the course of the story.

The way romance fits into stories can be really unique when you get down to the details. You also have the option to write the characters as a pre-established romance, and then plot-relevance is not quite as important (but still matters).

Good luck with your romance!

Humans are adorable.

Supporting evidence:

1. Humans say ‘ow’, even if they haven’t actually been hurt. It’s just a thing they say when they think they might have been hurt, but aren’t sure yet.

2. Humans collect shiny things and decorate their bodies and nests with them. The shinier the better, although each individual has a unique taste for style and colouring

3. Humans are not an aquatic or even amphibious species, but they flock to bodies of water simply to play in it. They can’t even hold their breath all that long; they just love to splash!

4. When night falls and the sky goes dark, humans become drowsy and begin to cocoon themselves in soft, fluffy bedding.

5. Some humans spend time in each other’s nests! Just for fun! It’s not their nest; they’re just visiting each other.

6. Some humans use pigments and dyes to make their bodies flashy and colourful! They even attach shiny dangly bits to their cartalidgous membranes!

7. Humans are very clever, and sometimes adopt creatures from other species into their family units. They don’t seem to notice the obvious differences, and often raise them alongside their own young!

8. If a human sees another creature in distress, they can commonly be observed trying to help! Even at their own risk, most humans are deeply compassionate creatures!

9. If a human hears a particularity catchy sound or tune, it will often mimic it, even to the point of annoying themselves!

10. Sneezes are entirely involuntary, and completely adorable. Especially when the human in question becomes frustrated

11. Humans love treats!!! Some more than others. Many humans will save these treats specifically for a later date when they are in need of comfort or reassurance. IE, pickles, pop tarts, Popsicles, etc

12. They’re learning to travel in space!!! They can’t get very far, but they’re trying!!! So far, they’ve made it to the end of their yard, and have found rocks

R&V 4 o’clock ANALYSIS:  Who is the song really about aside from Jimin?

Do you all remember the moon & sun tattoo made of henna that V had in Hawaii ??? (Cr to @wingstyles) This means Taehyung thought of the song since then if not before. We always thought, why the sun and the moon? This song holds the answers.

WHO IS THE MOON?

It is said Taehyung wanted to write a song while thinking of Jimin as an element in it:

If we consider Jimin being the moon. The lyrics of 4 o’clock “I wrote a long, long letter to the moon“. Maybe he meant by writing a letter about whenever he vented to Jimin about his pain. Also In Nam Joon’s rap, “I collect myself that’s shattered beneath the moonlight“. Aren’t friends the ones who keep us whole when we are breaking? Or Taehyung was really in the park alone looking at the moon while thinking of someone, but who?

WHO IS THE SONG ABOUT?

“It would not be brighter than you, but I lighted a small candle at a dusky park … where are you” Why would Tae Hyung light a candle in a park? The ritual of lighting a candle to pay tribute to a life ‘passed’ has long been a part of many cultures.  Keeping a light burning in remembrance signifies that the memory still lives on and burns bright.  It is a ritual that promotes reflection and signifies remembrance. So maybe the song is at the end about Taehyung’s grandmother who passed away. V said that Jimin stood by his side the most during those hard times. The soothing ballad and the tone and feelings expressed in the song come to support this theory.

WHO IS THE MOON CHILD?

In rapmon’s part, he raps about a moon child “I call you Moonchild. The definition of a moon child is someone born under the astrological sign of Cancer. However when Rapmon says “We are the children of the moon“, knowing that no BTS member is a Cancer, we are left with the other meaning:  A unique individual, often described as being slightly crazy and over emotional. “Moonchildren sometimes say strange things”. Speaking of which isn’t Taehyung always described as the weirdest and most unique one in BTS?! Namjoon writes the lyrics as if he is consoling Tae about his lost one as the lyrics say “Yes we’re living and dying at the same time” asking him to accept the fact that all humans leave earth someday. V was so sad when his grandmother passed away because she was the one who raised him. So RM continues “but you can open your eyes for now” Trying to help him to move on

THE NOCTURNAL BIRD

The lyrics speak of a bird “A nameless bird that sings“. Normally we are used to birds singing during the day but Robins are insectivorous birds that are well adapted to foraging in dim light, and even continue to feed under artificial light well into the night (like the one in a park at night). It is one of the earliest birds to start the dawn chorus and one of the last to stop singing at night. With this tendency to be active in low light, robins can be easily triggered into a full song by a streetlight or any kind of floodlighting. Since robins keep territories all year round, they also sing all round the year. I also searched if the species is available in South Korea and it is HERE. But how does Taehyung knows about the existence of such a bird? Did this situation really occur? he  will interpret the singing of the bird as if he was too searching for that person “A nameless bird that sings where are you

In memory of Taehyung’s grandmother. May she rests in peace.

I really like Harrison’s, Harry’s, and Tom’s photography. They’re all so different.

Harrison’s photography perfectly captures special moments. You get a real sense of the atmosphere, and each photo invokes a very specific feeling of a moment in time. It’s timeless and makes you feel like you’re actually there. You don’t just get to see a pretty picture, you get to feel the moment.

Harry sees the beauty in seemingly mundane things, and his photography highlights how everything can be beautiful if you look at it the right way. You can find beauty everywhere, and his photography radiates hope and possibility.

Tom’s photography seems much more personal. It’s the times where he takes a second to stop and appreciate his life and the world he’s living in. It’s Tom taking a breath to count his lucky stars that he lives in such an amazing world, with wonderful people and beautiful things.

Harrison’s photography captures truly special moments, Harry’s photography turns simple things into art, and Tom’s photography is about appreciating his life.

From the very beginning you are being told to compare yourself with others. This is the greatest disease; it is like a cancer that goes on destroying your very soul because each individual is unique, and comparison is not possible.

There will be no one like us when we are gone, but then there is no one like anyone else, ever. When people die, they cannot be replaced. They leave holes that cannot be filled, for it is the fate - the genetic and neural fate - of every human being to be a unique individual, to find his own path, to live his own life, to die his own death.

Hoe Tips: Self Love/Self Confidence

The key to being a boss hoe is loving yourself, and reminding yourself that you👏are👏the👏shit👏. I know this is easier said than done sometimes, so here are some tips to change your self perspective, and honestly to change your life.

1. I know this is going to sound cliche, but eating healthy and exercising does WONDERS. Taking care of yourself physically is a huge aspect of taking care of yourself mentally, as it balances out hormones, produces endorphins, and makes you generally look and feel better.

2. For body confidence: take selfies. Take several. Try out different filters, angles, and lighting and see what you look best in. If you’re comfortable, even take some nudes or lingerie pics to boost your ego. Snapchat has a feature called My Eyes Only where you can passcode protect any pictures you don’t want people seeing to keep all of your selfies and nudes.

3. Cut off people who treat you like shit. Cut off people who aren’t important to you. Cut off people that contribute nothing to geting you where you want to be. Delete numbers, block social media accounts, whatever you have to do. Be civil if you interact with them, but do not let them suck you in.

4. Learn to say no. Say no to things that make you uncomfortable, or things that hurt you, or things that may put the things you work hard for at risk. You are not obligated to do anything that you don’t want to do. Say no, and don’t apologize, because it is your RIGHT to say no.

5. Take yourself on a date. Go for a walk, see a movie, eat at your favorite restaurant/cafe. I like to make a habit of doing this once at least every couple of weeks, for some alone time.

6. If you’re comfortable, or at least willing to try, masturbate. Invest in a sex toy, or rely on your fingers, and go to town. Physical pleasure can do *wonders* for your mood and your self confidence.

7. Do your hair/makeup/wardrobe the👏way👏you👏want👏. Pick out looks that you KNOW flatter you, and invest in more items and styles like it. Toss/donate clothes or items you don’t like, and make sure that the only things in your vanity/closet are things that you know you slay in.

8. Make playlists that make you feel like a boss ass bitch. Beyonce, Rihanna, 5H, Nicki, and Ciara are some personal faves of mine, but any songs that make you feel sexy or in charge will do. Listen to them in the car, during your workout, just laying around, etc.

9. Every month, reserve a day to treat yourself; do some yoga or workout, take an epsom salt bath instead of a shower, soak your feet (warm water+baking soda in a little bucket=super duper soft feet), paint your nails, do your eyebrows, do a face mask, meditate, read a book, knit, draw, paint, go for a walk, get a massage. Develop a monthly routine to have a day for yourself and do whatever it is that makes you feel best.

10. Invest in a freakum dress; everybody needs one outfit (doesn’t even have to be a dress) that you know DAMN well you look fine in. Mine is a black bodycon dress with ribbed sides and black heels, I look and feel like a bad bitch in it. When you feel down, put on ya freakum dress. Look in the mirror, examine your angles, hype yourself tf up because you fuckin slayyy boo

11. Educate yourself. Pick a topic that you want to learn more about (it can be anything, from an artist to a particular science to a sport) and research it. Do one topic per week, and be amazed with how much you learn and absorb. Treating your brain is too often neglected, and being rich in knowledge is the best kind of rich you can be.

12. Keep a journal. Write out what you feel about yourself, what moves you have made to take care of yourself, and what situations you can work on. This will help you keep track of your self love progress, and you can look back at certain steps for motivation.

13. Give yourself something to look forward to each day. Pack a delicious lunch before you go to bed, make plans with a loved one, reserve an hour for your favorite show, lay out your favorite clothes the night before, plan a nap, whatever motivates you to wake up a little happier the next day.

14. Watch ASMR videos or podcasts (you can find them on YouTube). These are videos that focus solely on sounds (wrappers being crinkled, nails being tapped, whispering, etc.), and stimulating your senses. Some get a tingly feeling from listening to specific sounds, others find it easier to relax/focus. It sounds stupid, but it genuinelt changed my life.

15. If you genuinely feel that you need more than just self-help tutorials on Tumblr, do NOT be afraid to seek professional help. There are plenty of affordable, helpful therapists, hotlines, and counselors to assist you in any emotional conflicts that you may be having. It is nothing to be ashamed of, and it is not something to give up on if the first try at therapy doesn’t work out for you. If you feel you need it, please please please, seek help.

16. Quit drinking/smoking/doing drugs if you do any of them. This one should go without saying.

17. Make a bucket list; list places you want to go, things you want to do, concerts you want to see, and start doing them one by one.

18. When you make minor mistakes (a bad grade, a missed play in a sport, an embarrassing moment, etc), use the two minute rule; take two minutes to be upset, assess the situation, establish what you could’ve done differently, and move on. After two minutes, take the issue as a lesson, instead of as a mistake. Learning that you are human, and furthermore mentally establishing how to be a better one, is a HUGE aspect in self love.

19. Know your worth. You are a human being, capable of endless things. You have your own flaws, and your own talents, and your own assets that are unique and individual to YOU. You can wear whatever, sleep with whoever, date whoever, eat whatever, do whatever, as long as you 1) respect legal values and the values of others, and 2) remember your own value. Do not let anyone demean you, because you are more than someone’s critique of you.

That’s all I can think of for now. Love yourselves, babies. I know from personal experience that it’s hard to go from rock bottom to the throne, but I swear with patience and resilience, it can be done. My messages are open for anyone who needs to talk or has any questions. Stay safe, queens💞

Camp Xavier’s caters to each campers individual, unique… skill. Like fishing! Or… ax wielding. And not telekinesis. Or anything.

Seeing as ‘Riverdale’ Jughead Jones is creating too much disagreement I decided to leave this here, hoping it would help you understand better what Asexuality really is and maybe lessen up this disappointment

Learn what it means to be asexual.

Asexuality is a sexual orientation that means a person feels no sexual attraction to people of any gender. However, a person who identifies as asexual can still choose to have sex, can still love, can still be involved with a romantic partner or get married, and can still engage in normal relationships.

Asexuality doesn’t describe what a person chooses to do, but rather how a person feels. Asexual people have emotional needs, feel attraction to others, and can even feel arousal: they just don’t feel sexual attraction.

  • Many asexual people still identify as lesbian, gay, straight, bisexual, or pansexual (attracted to people of any gender or sexual orientation) as well.
  • Asexuality is not the same as having a low libido, which can be caused by medical or health issues, nor is it the same as repressing one’s sexual desires.

Understand the asexuality umbrella.

As with any sexual orientation, the label asexual is a generalization that doesn’t explain or represent everyone who identifies that way. All humans are unique and individual, and sexual orientation exists on a spectrum of needs, desires, interests, and attractions. Think of asexuality as an umbrella term that describes people who identify as asexual, gray-asexual, and demisexual.

  • Gray-asexual means that a person experiences sexual attraction, but either not very often or only to a minimal extent.
  • Demisexual describes a person who only feels sexual attraction to people with whom a close emotional bond has been formed.

Differentiate asexuality from abstinence and celibacy.

Abstinence is the deliberate choice to refrain from sexual activity, while celibacy is the deliberate choice to refrain from sexual activity and marriage (or marriage-like relationships). These choices may be made for religious, philosophical, moral, or other reasons. Asexuality is a lack of sexual attraction, but not necessarily a lack of sexual appetite (libido). This means asexual people can be:

  • Abstinent or celibate.
  • Sexually active through masturbation.
  • Sexually active with partners.

Learn what asexuality isn’t. Asexuality is a sexual orientation that’s distinct from heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality, pansexuality, and other orientations. However, asexuality also has nothing to do with biological sex, gender identity, or gender expression. And being asexual doesn’t mean you are aromantic, which means a person feels no romantic attraction to others.

Dating an Asexual Person

Recognize that there are different types of relationships.

Just as there are friendships, mother-daughter relationships, father-son relationships, and innumerable other types of platonic (non-sensual) relationships, so too are there many types of romantic relationships aside from just sexual romantic relationships. Dating an asexual person may open your eyes to new types of relationships, which could include:

  • Romantic non-sexual relationships, which often involve physical affection, cuddling, and commitment.
  • Aromantic non-sexual relationships, which involve a deep commitment to one another. While these relationships can include physical affection, there is no sexual or romantic element.

Communicate openly.

Regardless of the circumstances, dating is always about getting to know someone better, and dating someone who identifies as asexual is no different. The key to any relationship is free and open communication. It’s important to discuss personal boundaries early in any relationship, so that partners know what is acceptable, what’s unacceptable, and what is and isn’t expected of each other. If you are unsure of something, it’s always best to just ask!

  • It’s important not to be offended if someone you’re dating comes out to you as asexual. It’s not an excuse and it’s not an attempt to get out of the relationship. That person is just trying to be honest and open.

Understand that an asexual person can be intimate.

Asexual people often partake in romantic partnerships or relationships, but whether a person is open to physical or sexual intimacy depends on the individual. But dating doesn’t necessarily require physical or sexual interaction, and two people can develop a strong emotional or romantic relationship with or without a sexual element: intimacy is much more than just physical touching or sexual activity.

  • An asexual partner may or may not be open to sexual activity, so it’s important to communicate so that everyone involved is on the same page. Feeling sexual pleasure is different from feeling sexual attraction, and some asexual people can enjoy sex.
  • Conversely, some asexual people are not interested in sex at all, and will not be open to exploring a sexual relationship.

And to finish this, some myths:

Asexual people can’t fall in love.

Many asexuals can feel the full range of romantic emotions, from a slight crush to true love.  It’s just devoid of a sexual component.  Asexuals are not limited to platonic love, either.  When an ace feels love, it can be every bit as complex and deep as the romantic love that anyone else feels.

There is a concept of romantic (or affectional) orientation, which describes who a person is romantically attracted to.  Romantic orientation is separate from sexual orientation, although in many people, their romantic and sexual orientations do happen to coincide.  Common romantic orientations include heteroromantic (romantic attraction toward the opposite gender), homoromantic (romantic attraction toward the same gender), bi/panromantic (romantic attraction toward both/all genders), and aromantic (romantic attraction toward no gender).

Asexual people don’t/can’t have sex.

Most asexual people can have sex, and some of them do. Asexuality is the lack of sexual attraction, not a lack of sexual ability.  Asexuals are physically and physiologically indistinguishable from other people, in other words, in most cases, the equipment is all there and in working order.  If an asexual person is incapable of having sex, it is usually due to some other condition, and not necessarily related to their asexuality.

So, I guess everyone has their own conclusions now as if Jughead can or can’t be in a relationship, can or can’t fall in love, can or can’t have sex. It’s pretty clear to all of us that this is different from the comics so as all the characters Jughead most likely won’t be exactly alike, that doesn’t mean Jughead is or is not asexual or won’t be in a near future.

I finished, hope it helped you.

NATIONAL ABORIGINAL DAY

National Aboriginal Day is on June 21st. If it doesn’t coincide with another event (I remember a few years back that it did with BlackOut, but was worked around), I think we should celebrate. If you’re Aboriginal / Indigenous, upload your selfies, post art, talk about Aboriginal characters that you know and love, talk about books and films made by and for Indigenous people. We are still here but we are individually unique and have our own experiences and stories to tell.

Use #HappyAboriginalDay and spread the word.

EDIT: The date for BlackOut is June 6th. We’re in the clear!

SECOND EDIT:

This post has gained a lot of attention over the last couple of days! Thank you to everybody who has shared and reblogged it. I want to take a moment to address a question that keeps popping up: if you are indigenous/aboriginal, you can participate if you choose to! This is not limited just to Native American / First Nations people. If you are Ainu, Maori, Saami, native Hawaiian, etc, feel free to participate! It’s great opportunity for us to represent ourselves, our cultures, our lives, our heroes, and celebrate both our differences and similarities.

I can’t wait to see you all on June 21st! Keep boosting this post and don’t forget to use the #HappyAboriginalDay tag!

From the very beginning you are being told to compare yourself with others. This is the greatest disease. It is like a cancer that goes on destroying your very soul because each individual is unique, and comparison is not possible.

The Sun in the Houses

Introduction

The House the Sun resides in represents the area of an individual’s life most affected by the expression of individuality and our unique powers. This is where we seek to make our mark, and how we feel our uniqueness.

Unless there is a House Stellium elsewhere in the individual’s chart, this House will be the most defining in the natal chart as the powerful influence of the Sun is directed there.

The Sun directs us to take action in the areas of life ruled by the House it resides in. We cannot lead happy, fulfilled lives without exploring our potential in these areas. This is an extremely vital contribution to our identity.

These areas of life are also where our egos are allowed to flourish, which means there is a necessity to be cautious of growing too self-confident or self-assured. There must be balance.

Sun in the 1st House

The House of Self

This position bestows great will and passion. The native possesses vitality, an air of confidence, and self-awareness. Their concept and understanding of their own identity is of great importance in their life, and to their overall success as an individual.

Natives of this position take great pride in their physical appearance and what they do and create. They seek to be recognized for what they are and what they are capable of in a way that other natives do not. They need recognition to feel secure in themselves.

They possess a presence that cannot be denied. Leadership comes naturally, along with comfort in one’s own skin. It is hard to manipulate this individual or sway their opinions. The determination this position bestows is far too great to be overcome by any force. Highly ambitious, these natives will work long and hard to achieve what they want in life.

Adversely, natives are egotistical, their individualism often taken to extremes. Despite their air of confidence, these natives are actually quite self-conscious. It can be difficult not to become consumed with the worries of others’ impressions and thoughts. This is especially true when the Sun is afflicted. Such a position leads to compulsiveness and a hunger for power.

Sun in the 2nd House

The House of Possessions

Unlike the Sun in the 1st House which leads to natives taking great pride in their appearance and abilities, the native of the Sun in the 2nd House leads to pride in possessions. Natives are driven to pursue material goods and financial security above all else.

They are determined, faithful, and have strong values. With this determination and drive, they pursue financial wealth. How they obtain their wealth depends on the Sun sign - ie. Sun in Gemini may indicate the wealth will be obtained through intellectual or communicative pursuits; Sun in Virgo may indicate caring for others as a doctor, nurse, or something similar.

Though they seek material possessions, they are typically not unreasonable with their money. Financial security trumps all else. Still, they may not understand that this wealth should be used to actually benefit them rather than satisfy temporary desires above true needs. Despite this focus on money, natives are not greedy but instead quite magnanimous.

There is a tendency to be far too materialistic and superficial. Natives must realize that they cannot believe their worth comes from themselves, not from the objects they surround themselves with. They must shift their pride from the manifestation of their hard work to the hard work itself.

When afflicted, this position may lead to squandering money or the feeling that the native is not worthy of love.

Sun in the 3rd House

House of the Mind

This position drives the native to achieve greatness through intellectualism, academia, and the like. Mental accomplishments define the native’s identity.

The precise nature of this knowledge may shift depending on the sign the Sun is in - ie. Aquarius would suggest scientific endeavors, while Scorpio may lead the native into the occult or psychology, or Capricorn into business. Overall, however, there is a scientific bent to whatever it is the native pursues. This also applies to their curiosity: Natives are highly investigative and driven to learn new, unique things.

Often, they are driven to travel, exploring the world and the many cultures it holds. Restlessness often plagues them, and they are left feeling as if they must be doing something at all times.

Friendship and communication are highly important to this native. Unlike the Houses before it, the 3rd House inspires the native to take pride in relationships. The native often has a unique knack for relating to others, and makes friends with ease. Their open minded nature also contributes to this ease.

Affliction leads to intellectual superiority complexes and the desire to force their beliefs on others. They can be extremely impatient with others, as well.

Sun in the 4th House

The House of Family

Pride in heritage and family is key to natives of this position. The home becomes a symbol of their pride and worth. They seek to showcase their ties and history.

This can also manifest in an interest in the land itself. Gardening, natural resources, and the like are of great importance to them.

The desire to be the head of the family is common. Much of the native’s energy is devoted to the home and family, and if their personal life is not in order they cannot focus on anything else until it is. The foundation of the family and home is one that supports them in all areas of life.

Within the first part of their life, there will be difficulties, and in the second part, prosperity. This is typically because natives understand they must plan ahead, and focus on the future instead of immediate pleasure.

Defensiveness and secrecy are common in these natives. When afflicted, this position leads to a struggle with parents and partners. They can be dictatorial in the home.

Sun in the 5th House

The House of Pleasure

When the Sun’s energy is directed into the 5th House, the native’s pride and power is their creativity. They desire - and truly need - to be recognized for this creativity.

Not only drawn to the arts, natives are often physical. They are interested in sports, and arts that combine the two such as dance. Their nature is competitive, as well, which manifests in these areas.

Romance, drama, and popularity seem to surround these natives. They have an air of regality more often than not, and their brightness draws in others. Their great sense of loyalty contributes to this, as well.

Children often play important roles in their life in one way or another.

Love is intense for these natives, and sometimes all consuming. When the Sun is in Taurus or Scorpio, possessiveness may overwhelm their relationships.

Egocentric and at times far too individualistic, natives often are taken down by their risky behavior and lack of sense. Natives seek adventure and action in life, which can sometimes be dangerous. There is a naivety that characterizes this position and can be hard to grow out of.

Sun in the 6th House

The House of Health

For these natives, pride stems from service. The identity is shaped by how the individual can contribute to society and directly to those around them. They must assist others in order to feel fulfilled and confident in themselves.

Because they take such pride in their work, these natives are hard working but somewhat difficult to work with. They need to feel appreciated, and to receive appreciation for this hard work. When this does not occur, there are often feelings of resentment that form.

They often need to keep busy in one way or another because they feel useless when not doing something.

This position often negatively affects health, ironically. The native may find it necessary to stick to strict diets in order to stay healthy. When well aspected, this position does lead to an innate understanding of their own health and the health of others. When afflicted, the position instead leads to a struggle to understand this part of their identity at all.

Natives must learn that their work should not be their identity in whole. They need a life outside of constant work, and a way to define themselves when not working. Their perfectionism can be difficult to manage, and actively hurt them. Anxiety can be so great it is detrimental to their health.

Sun in the 7th House

The House of Partnership

Pride and identity is found through close relationships. Marriage is their focus, and takes up a great deal of their energy. They take great care to ensure their partners are happy and healthy, making a great partner themselves.

Natives possess negotiation skills, the ability to harmonize with others, and motivation to form positive relationships with everyone they meet. They do their bests when working with others in all areas of life. Sharing experiences is highly enjoyable to them.

When the Sun is well aspected, they easily attract good friends. Their charm is great, and they are typically highly considerate of others.

Rejection can be extremely intense for these natives. Often, these natives put the needs of others above their own, causing themselves great pain and suffering at times. They can even lose themselves in relationships as they identify so strongly with their associations with others.

Sun in the 8th House

The House of Depth

When the Sun is in the 8th House, the native is drawn to the mysteries of the universe. Religion, spirituality, occultism, and the like are all areas of interest. This interest typically develops over the native’s lifetime, and may not be present right away.

Their energy is so powerfully directed to these areas that the natives are grounded in these areas of life, stabilized by these beliefs. They not only take pride in these beliefs, they are empowered by them.

As the 8th House also rules transformation, natives typically seek to evolve and grow in all areas of life, and take great pride in this ability to change. Not only this, but this position is quite severe, forcing the native to grow through quite difficult life lessons. This often involves the relinquishing, or death, of a part of the being.

Often, these individuals will begin as selfish or egotistical and be forced to transform into a more open, understanding, and beautiful being.

There is a certain magnetism about this native that draws others to them. This can be used to benefit the native throughout life.

Emotions are carefully controlled as they are so powerful. The native understands the great influence of emotion, and thus they understand that emotion can be a weapon.

When ill aspected, natives can seek money through unscrupulous means and be quite dangerous.

Sun in the 9th House

House of Philosophy

The native of this position is greatly interested in philosophy: Higher education, religion, law, etc. Overall, there is an interest in society, and influencing it.

There is a draw to other cultures, travel, and exploration unless the Sun sign is Fixed. Even if they never travel, these natives often have a knack for learning languages.

Even if the native is not religious, they often have strong morals and values from which they refuse to sway - even if these morals are misguided. Their ideals are quite grand, and they are impatient to reach them. This can lead to naivete and self-righteousness. Despite this, the native can grow into an open-minded, adventurous, and curious individual.

When afflicted, this position inspired dictatorial behavior, eccentric religious beliefs, or struggles in higher education. They can also be highly condescending and attempt to force their morals on others, even if they are hypocritical.

Sun in the 10th House

House of Status

Responsibility and authority are at the center of this individual’s identity. Natives defines themselves by their success and recognition. Ambition, power, and authority are highly important in their lives.

These natives will work remarkably hard to reach their goals. There is nothing that can stop them when they set their sights on something they desire.

Natives are so wrapped up in concepts of honor and dignity that they refuse to lower themselves even slightly, however.

This is actually a position many politicians possess as it bestows dignity and strong will. On the other hand, this also applies to their morals. They believe they are meant to serve as an example, and act as if they are always being watched in a sense; in many ways this is true, as others will look up to them.

Being lower than others is a struggle for them, and for this reason they must seek jobs in which they are in control. Their leadership abilities are strong, and when they nurture this aspect of themselves they can do great things.

There is a tendency to become wrapped up in material goods. The native’s arrogance is often their downfall, so they must take great steps to control this part of themselves. This is especially true when the Sun is afflicted, and the native may even resort to unscrupulous methods in order to achieve power.

Sun in the 11th House

House of Friendship

Humanitarianism is the most distinct aspect of this position. The native is intensely devoted to equality, and highly empathetic to the plight of others. The concept of human dignity is one that truly shapes the native and inspires them to help others in whatever ways they can manage. Natives take great pride in this part of their lives, too, seeing their devotion to humanity as honorable.

Society in general is the focus of this native. Friendship, group activities, and similar affairs define them. It is not social status that they seek, but connections with others, and many connections will be made.

The openness and tolerance granted by this position draws people in. Not only this, but the native adapts to social situations with grace and ease. It is all too easy for this native to form friendships, but the only issue is that they can be shallow, not truly deep. While these natives can make quick friends, they can also quickly leave.

The native desires to work in groups, and thus gain recognition through groups. This position also inspires scientific and, sometimes, occult interests.

In cases of affliction, the native either uses friends for their own gain or is used.

Sun in the 12th House

The House of the Subconscious

This is a highly introspective position. Natives are focused on their own mental state and identity, and occasionally that of others through psychology or psychic interests. This is where they may serve others, and experience personal fulfillment.

Comfort truly comes from assisting others, the compassion and care bestowed by this placement is so great. Despite this, the individual can find it hard to interact with others directly as they are so shy, particularly if the Sun is afflicted in this House.

The Sun’s energy, when directed in such a naturally dark place, can prove far too much. There is a conflict when the outgoing Sun meets the internal, hidden 12th House. The native can feel torn between these two natures. Individuals with this placement are often unnecessarily hard on themselves, as well.

There is a tendency to avoid the spotlight, instead moving behind the scenes. Alone time is needed to regroup quite often.

Self-pity can plague the native, as can lack of confidence.

Numerology: Calculating Your Life Lesson Number

Numerology Basics

Each one of us has four personal numbers that carry a specific vibration. They are the Life Lesson Number, the Soul Number, the Outer Personality Number, and the Path of Destiny Number. In this post, we’ll be focusing on the Life Lesson number.

The Life Lesson Number represents lessons one must learn in this lifetime and is most significant to career choices. It is derived from your full birthdate.

Though this post will be focused on calculating one’s number using the numbers in your birthday, I’m including information on how to calculate the numeric vibration of letters as well, because it’s intrinsically related.

To work with the value of letters beyond “I”, which is 9, we reduce the value to a single digit. For example, “O” is 15, so we reduce the number by adding the first digit to the second: 1+5=6. The number 15 is then written as 15/6. The letter “T” is 20. We reduce the 20 by adding the first digit to the second: 2+0=2. The number 20 is then written as 20/2.

Number Values of the Alphabet

A   1       J   10/1       S   19/1
B   2       K   11/2       T   20/2
C   3       L   12/3       U   21/3
D   4       M   13/4      V   22/4
E   5       N   14/5      W   23/5
F   6       O   15/6       X   24/6
G   7       P   16/7       Y   25/7
H   8       Q   17/8       Z   26/8
I    9        R   18/9

We can reduce any word to a numeric vibration by using the above table. Before we move on to calculating one’s Life Lesson number, lets experiment with a few words:

3  +  9  +  6  +  5  =  23/5
C     R      O     W

We reduce 23 by adding 2+3=5, which is written 23/5

5  +  9  +  2  +  3  +  8  =  21/3
W     I       T      C     H

We reduce 21 by adding 2+1=3, which is written 21/3

3  +  9  +  7  +  8  +  2  =  29/11
L      I       G     H      T

We reduce 29 by adding 2+9=11, which is written 29/11

There are four double digits which generally are not reduced. These are referred to as master numbers. Master numbers offer more opportunity for expression, yet demand more effort from the person or thing in question. The master numbers are 11, 22, 33, and 44. Whenever you arrive at one of these numbers in your calculations; retain the master value.

Because the word “light” vibrates to master number 11, it’s written as 29/11 instead of 29/2, which would be the case if reduced entirely. The number 2 is still acknowledged as the base number as the word will fluctuate between the vibrations of 2 and 11.

An individual will fluctuate between any master number and its base digit because the vibration of the master number is too intense to live under continuously. Living under the vibration of one’s base number offers respite while preparing to work with the master number vibration again.

Calculating Your Life Lesson Number

To calculate your Life Lesson Number, add all the digits of your birthdate together and reduce the sum. Here is an example of how someone with the birthdate of 24 October 1948 would calculate their Life Lesson Number:

10 + 24 + 1948
10 + 24 + 22 (1 + 9 + 4 + 8)
10 + 24 + 22 = 56/11

Since the reduced sum of their birthday is a master number, the sum is not reduced further.

Now that you know how to calculate your Life Lesson Number, read on to see the description of each numeric vibration. All number descriptions come directly from Numerology and The Divine Triangle (1979) by Faith and Dusty Bunker, the reference material for this post.
