steve is 30 when he takes on leading the avengers full-time and, a few months later, he is 30 years old and standing in a flying city talking to natasha how that would be a good place to die

May I just say that I LOVE Rick Riordan? Not for any other reason than the amazing characters he creates:
-Percy Jackson: a boy with ADHD and dyslexia. If you didn’t know, Uncle Rick originally created Percy like this for his son Haley who also has ADHD and dyslexia. But also, Percy comes from an abusive household. Smelly Gabe, even though he, from what I can gather, never hit Percy, nor did he hit Sally while Percy was around, but he was verbally, economically and emotionally abusive toward both Sally and Percy. And Percy overcame that.
-Annabeth Chase: a girl, also with ADHD and dyslexia, who came from a family who she thought hated her. So she ran away. And found a new family. She ended up losing that new family by the time she was twelve. She believes that she can rebuild the world, and make it better. And in a way, she does.
-Grover: a satyr that, when originally introduced to us, is disabled. Even though we find out he’s not, he still has flaws. He has made mistakes, and he feels inadequate. He overcomes this and becomes a member of the Council of Cloven Elders.
-Thalia Grace: a girl who comes from an alcoholic home. She lost her brother, and ran away. She ended up turning into a tree, but came back from that. She became the lieutenant to Artemis.
-Rachel Elizabeth Dare: a girl who comes from a rich home, but just doesn’t like it. She loves the earth despite her father’s company trying to destroy it. She can see through the Mist, and becomes the Oracle of Delphi.
-Jason Grace: a boy forced to grow up too soon. He was two when he was abandoned, then he made his way to being praetor at 15, maybe younger. He never knew his family, and always wanted to bring about change. He was looked on as a hero, but didn’t feel like it inside.
-Piper McLean: a girl raised by a movie star. She disliked being tied to that name, hated the idea of being beautiful. She made herself blend in, except when she stole. Or convinced them to let her have it. She overcomes her insecurities, and becomes beautiful, not through her mother, but through her own power.
-Leo Valdez: a Hispanic boy who grew up with a loving mother, and then accidentally caused her death. He grew up in the foster system, being funny to try and cover up the pain of his loss. He didn’t like looking back, but Camp made him. He grew into his power, and fell in love. Now, he’s mature, and a leader.
-Hazel Levesque: a girl who grew up when it was a sin to be black. New Orleans, in the forties. Her mother seemed to hate her, and she was an outcast. The one boy she loved she never saw. She died, then came back to life. She grew into her powers and made herself new. She started fresh, and now she has found love, and can shape the world however she sees fit.
-Frank Zhang: a Chinese Canadian who lost his mother to a war. He was clumsy, he didn’t fit in. He hated himself. He went to the old country, where he fought and became what he was originally meant to be: A warrior.
Also: The majority of these characters come from single parent homes.
But that’s just PJO, HoO, and ToA. Let’s talk about other series for a second:
Kane Chronicles:
-Carter and Sadie are MIXED RACE. It is canon. Their dad is African American and their mom is British white. Again, that’s not something that really happens a lot in literature, period.
-Carter traveled a lot, he had no permanent home. He was really lonely, and very close to his dad.
-But seriously, even in modern society just imagine how hard it is to be mixed race. You’re not one or the other, you’re both, which also means that you’re neither.
-Sadie grew up with her grandparents, being rebellious and just not wanting to be in England. She wanted to travel with dad, and when he died, it was hard on both of them.
And Magnus Chase:
-Magnus Chase: a boy who loved his mother, and grew up on the streets after she died. He was actually similar to Leo in his back story. He had a rich uncle, but he hated money, hated being confined. Then he died, and now he’s grown to accept himself.
-Samirah al Abbas: a Muslim girl shown in a POSITIVE LIGHT AND DO YOU REALIZE HOW IMPORTANT THAT IS RIGHT NOW WITH ALL THE PEOPLE HATING MUSLIMS???? And in Hammer of Thor, she PRAYS!!!!!! Like do you realize how beautiful this is? She doesn’t believe in the gods as gods, but as creations of Allah. Like, she is one of my favorite characters.
-Blitzen: a guy of unknown sexuality who loves fashion. The best part about this is that Blitz is not openly straight, gay or otherwise. He is just a dwarf who loves fashion, and this proves that you don’t have to be gay to love fashion.
-Hearthstone: HE’S DEAF! Do you realize how many deaf kids will read this and realize how cool it is to be what they are??? A lot, is what I hope. It’s just so refreshing to see a disability like this shown in a positive light. Also, he comes from a home where he is made fun of for his disability. It is shown that he has it hard for being the way he is, which I also think is important. It is important to show that people can overcome people who think they’re stupid for not being like everyone else.
In conclusion, Uncle Rick has taken the time to write amazing, beautiful, powerful, unconventional characters that we love. And it’s important that these are good characters, protagonists, because then we love them, and see that unconventional is good.

It was already past midnight on Friday when the news arrived in Norway: A day after meeting with Norway’s prime minister in Washington, President Trump told members of Congress that the United States needed more immigrants from places like Norway and fewer immigrants from countries like Haiti.

Many in this prosperous Scandinavian country were already asleep, but several prominent Norwegians who were still online took to Twitter to vent their outrage and disgust, not only at Mr. Trump’s vulgar language but at what many saw as a racially tinged insult.

“The real White House: Trump calls Haiti and African countries ‘shithole’ countries to the face of members of Congress, and uses Norway to prove his racism,” wrote Andreas Wiese, a newspaper commentator who manages the House of Literature, a popular cultural center in Oslo, Norway’s capital.

Prime Minister Erna Solberg’s visit to Washington to meet Mr. Trump — where they held a joint news conference on Wednesday at the White House — was big news in Norway, and the encounter had not gone without a hitch: Mr. Trump pointed to the sale of American-made “F-52s and F-35 fighter jets,” a remark that puzzled many listeners since there is no such thing as an F-52 fighter jet. (There are F-52s in the video game “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.”)

Helge Ogrim, a veteran journalist who used to cover the United States for the Norwegian News Agency, said of Mr. Trump’s latest remark: “It falls into a pattern of nativist and very unpleasant language from a poorly qualified president, if not worse. President Trump seems to relish in derogatory remarks about others and praise for himself. This incident, just after his blunder with the fictional ‘F-52’ planes, further lowers the respect for his office and for the U.S. abroad.”

… Haitians and members of the Haitian diaspora were aghast upon hearing of Mr. Trump’s latest remarks.

Paul G. Altidor, the Haitian ambassador to the United States, said that Haitian officials “vehemently condemn” Mr. Trump’s comments, which he said were “based on stereotypes,” according to Yamiche Alcindor, a journalist reporting for the program “PBS NewsHour” who interviewed him. “Either the president has been misinformed or he is miseducated,” she quoted him as saying.

Ms. Alcindor, who is Haitian-American, also quoted Mr. Altidor as saying: “Haitians fought along U.S. soldiers in the Revolutionary War,
and we continue to be great contributors to American society.”

Meet Stephen Bannon

(I would place a picture of him here, but I don’t want to get sued.)

Bannon is basically Trump’s right-hand man. Hell, he may even be the shadow dictator.

Because I want people to be aware of this dangerous man, I entered Bannon’s name into Tumblr’s search engine. Ultimately, I didn’t see any articles that were comprehensive enough, so I compiled a list of quotes that show what we’re up against.

This is probably the most important quote:

“Lenin…  wanted to destroy the state, and that’s my goal too. I want to bring everything crashing down, and destroy all of today’s establishment.” Bannon was employing Lenin’s strategy for Tea Party populist goals. He included in that group the Republican and Democratic Parties, as well as the traditional conservative press.

Source: Steve Bannon, Trump’s Top Guy, Told Me He Was ‘A Leninist’ Who Wants To ‘Destroy the State’.

He is also obsessed with a book called  "The Fourth Turning: What Cycles of History Tell Us About America’s Next Rendezvous with Destiny.“

According to the book, the last two Fourth Turnings that America experienced were the Civil War and the Reconstruction, and then the Great Depression and World War II. Before that, it was the Revolutionary War.

All these were marked by periods of dread and decay in which the American people were forced to unite to rebuild a new future, but only after a massive conflict in which many lives were lost. It all starts with a catalyst event, then there’s a period of regeneracy, after that there is a defining climax in which a war for the old order is fought, and then finally there is a resolution in which a new world order is stabilized.

This is where Bannon’s obsession with this book should cause concern. He believes that, for the new world order to rise, there must be a massive reckoning. That we will soon reach our climax conflict. In the White House, he has shown that he is willing to advise Trump to enact policies that will disrupt our current order to bring about what he perceives as a necessary new one. He encourages breaking down political and economic alliances and turning away from traditional American principles to cause chaos.

In that way, Bannon seems to be trying to bring about the Fourth Turning.

Source: Steve Bannon’s obsession with a dark theory of history should be worrisome.

Trump also put him on the National Security Council. This is illegal. As a Slate article reads:

According to Title 50 of the U.S. Code, Section 3021, which established the National Security Council, it “shall be composed of” the president; the vice president; the secretaries of state, defense, and energy; and “the secretaries and undersecretaries of other executive departments and of the military departments, when appointed by the President by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to serve at his pleasure.”

As the president’s chief political strategist, Bannon is not a secretary or undersecretary of any department. Nor, as a member of the White House staff, has he been confirmed by the Senate. So he is not eligible to serve on the NSC, and if that’s the case, he is doubly ineligible to sit on its Principals Committee—the assembly of Cabinet secretaries and department heads (sometimes including the president) that discusses and makes decisions on high-level U.S. foreign and military policy.

Source: Steve Bannon’s Presence on the National Security Council Is Not Just Terrible. It’s Illegal.

Fortunately, though, Congress can remove him.

And, here’s one, last thing: Bannon said we’ll be going to war with China in the next 5-10 years.

Source: Steve Bannon: ‘We’re going to war in the South China Sea … no doubt.’

This worries me, because, unless the next Presidential election is fraudulent, I can’t see Trump winning a second term, no less a third (the USA only allows Presidents to serve two terms). How will these idiots be in power ten years from now?

We Americans need to find a way to stop Trump and Bannon. Otherwise, we may be beyond hope.

Let's get to know the most decrepit , demonic, former angel who fell from Yahs grace....... Satan!   Top 5 things that Satan  did to fall from grace & How certain characteristics  are directly of Satan -Part 1

We know,  we don’t want to bring this worthless entity up either. But it’s important to know exactly who this degenerate is in order to know how he works. Here’s the top 5 facts about Satan, The Adversary!

Before we begin, it’s important to kick this Top 5 off with the #1 way to avoid Satan and his snares…… Resistance!

#1 Resist him and he’ll flee"

James 4: 7

Submit yourselves, then, to Yah. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

#2  Yah considered Satan the ‘Seal of Perfection"  " Full of wisdom and perfect beauty"

Ezekiel 28: 13-15

“You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 13. You were in Eden, the garden of Yah ;Every precious stone was your covering: the sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and jasper,Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes Was prepared for you on the day you were created. 14. “You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of Yah; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones. 15. You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, Till iniquity was found in you

#3  Yah has two angels covering his throne at all times. One on the right and one on the left. When satan was an angel, he was one of the two who stood guard at Yahs thrown.

Ezekiel 28:14:

“You were the anointed cherub who covers, And I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of Yah ; You walked in the midst of the stones of fire.

#4   Once Satan rebelled,  there was a war with his unrighteous Angels and Yahs Angels. Satan and his minions lost and was thrown out of Heaven

Revelation 12:7-9:

7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him

#5  The devil has fallen!
Satan was the most anointed angle of Yah! Yah crafted satan in beauty, splendor & wisdom. But just like most, it all went to his head. He then got greedy and filled with too much pride. He started plotting to de-throwne the Most High, Yah- and take his place. Similar to Nimrod.  Yah then throw him to the pits where he belong.

Isaiah 14:12-14:

How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn. You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! 13. You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.[a] 14. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.”

Ezekiel 28:17-19:

Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom on account of your splendor. I threw you down to the ground; I placed you before kings, that they might see you. 18. By the multitude of your iniquities, In the unrighteousness of your trade You profaned your sanctuaries. Therefore I have brought fire from the midst of you; It has consumed you, And I have turned you to ashes on the earth In the eyes of all who see you. 19. All those who know you among the nations are appalled at you. You have become an object of horror and will never exist again

Satan is our adversary; and as scripture states, his job it to get us to turn against Yah  just  as he has. And believe it or not, it is really easy to do so. Here are a few characteristic that many have, but may not  realize that they’re also the characteristics of  Satan.  Also note;  that anything that is not of Yah, is of satan!

#1.  Lying & Lust

John 8:44

44. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and  not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it

#2  Lack of Self-control is a doorway to satan

1 Corinthians 7:5:

5 Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

#3 Not honoring Yahs laws!

Let’s not forget that we are to keep and honor all of Yahs laws. And doing anything to the contrary is giving in to satan and his snares. It’s not easy being righteous, but it’s a must!!

Matthew 5:17-18:

17 Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfill. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished.

1 John 3:8 : 8

The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning

Thanks for reading! Yah bless & Shalom!

James 4:7: Submit yourselves, then, to Yah. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

ok so after the newest episode im seeing a bunch of posts talking about Jaune and complaining about him and his storyline and how it undermines the other characters and i just want to talk about that for a bit and the different arguments against him

1. Jaune Arc is Miles Luna’s self insert character

ok so i hear this a lot in posts about Jaune and while i can totally see why people think that i just want to say that its not true at all. you see Monty Oum, the creator of the series who died sometime between season 2 and 3. but what most people don’t know unless why watch a lot of rt interviews and pod casts is that he had actually written out the first 10 season (in great detail) of the show before he died. Monty had actually talked in detail with both Miles and Carrie about the plot point, story lines and character arcs each character would be going through. so Mile and Carrie are pretty much just writing dialogue by this point. so if Jaune gets the spot light here and there and has a greater importance to the plot as the series goes along, that was Monty’s vision from the get go. and miles has said that him and the rest of the team want to honor Montys vision so badly because they were all friends and respected Monty so much. Miles wouldn’t put more significance of Jaune simply for his own benefit, he respects Monty too much to do that to him

2. Jaune is stealing team RWBY spotlight and overshadowing Rubys storyline

ok when i see posts like this it makes me think that they didn’t watch the first 2 seasons because Jaune has always been super important/hinted at having significant importance of some kind. we meet Jaune in the first episode, a full episode before we even see Weiss or Blake, and he is named a full episode before we learn what Blake’s name is. in ep2 we learn about how his sword is a hand-me-down from a great-great-great grandfather who fought in the great war. this mention along with the statue at vale and the world of remnant video hints that Jaune might be a direct descendant of the king of vale who stopped the great war as he has the same sword. in ep6 Pyrrha comments about how Jaune has a lot of aura, which coming from someone has experienced as her means something. we also see his cut heal which could have been a hint to his semblance we see now in season 5. in ep7 it seems that Ozpin is perfectly aware that Jaune is a total newbie yet doesn’t intervene as it looks like he may know something the rest of us don’t. the same Ozpin who then made Jaune, a completely inexperienced fighter, as the leader of team JNPR. if the immortal Ozpin sees something that important in Jaune that even Jaune doesn’t see maybe we should listen. Jaune is an important character to the plot always has been. althought this may not have been obvious with him being the comedic character the first 2 seasons there were still points that hinted at it. if anything Jaunes storyline reminds me of Sokka from atla in where he starts off as a character the annoying comedy relief character, and where he ends up as the intelligent, capable leader and fighter.

Jaune isnt stealing or overshadowing ruby’s storyline, if anything they’re meant to parallel each other, they are both the “chosen ones” of their own storylines, both were put into leaderships positions despite their inexperiences/age, both have talked to each other about how they feel about their leadership positions and responsibility.

3. Jaunes storylines undermines the other female characters like Pyrrha and now Weiss

while alright i wont deny this one in its entirety i do think people take this one a little too seriously. i mean yes did jaune take over pyrrhas character a bit? yes. was her loss used as character development for jaune? yes. honestly if this were any other show this would have bothered me so much more, but because RWBY where the vast majority of the characters are female i don’t mind that much. so Jaune is torn up about Pyrrha, so is Ruby. Yang is torn up about her mom and Blake. Ren is torn up about his parents. fridging one female character isnt a huge deal when there are literally like 30 other female characters essential to the plot of the show. yeah its frustrating, but pyrrha was always meant to die that was Monty’s plan not Miles, Miles isnt making Jaune’s storyline about pyrrha’s loss because hes prioritizing this character it was Montys plan because he had plans for Jaune.

and about jaune saving weiss, i really dont understand why people are mad at him for this. his healing powers have been hinted at since season 1. and hes been over his crush for weiss for almost 2 season now. cinder could have hurt anyone in that room and jaune would have reacted the same way. i believe the reason it was weiss is because shes the only characters of the team rwby who isnt tied to a villain (ruby/cinder &roman torchwick, blake/adam, yang/adam &mercury and emerald). if anything this resolves Jaune’s guilt storyline around pyrrha because the same thing happened and he was able to save someone this time. the last time this happened he was useless and powerless to do anything and that it would be the reason that someone died. it was his greatest fear come true. and this time he stopped it from happening. he has redeemed himself in his own eyes. so all the people who were upset about pyrrha’s death being used to further his character in season 4 should rejoice because its over now.

Before the beginning of times in the Norse cosmos, there were but two worlds and a yawning void in between. The world of ice, Niflheim, stretching to the North and the world of flame, Muspelheim, in the South which was guarded by the fire giant Surt with his flaming sword. These worlds were parted by a giant void called Ginnungagap. Twelve rivers that came from a cauldron called Hvergelmir were pouring down this slope into blackness. One day Surt was wielding his flaming sword and sparks of fire reached to Niflheim. The freezing cold and the sparks of his sword collided and exploded. Out of it came the primeval frost giant Ymir and with him a giant cow named Audhumla (the nourisher). Ymir was fed from her milk and out of his sweat emerged other giants – one of them Thrudgelmir. Audhumla fed herself by licking the salty ice of Niflheim. After some time, the shape of a man appeared through the ice where she licked. This man was the first one of the gods, Buri (the producer). He is the father of Bor. Bor took the giantess Bestla for his wife and fathered the first of the Æsir: Odin, Vili and Ve.

The ice giant Thrudgelmir, who has always been hateful towards the gods, evil in nature, fought a lengthy war with the three brothers. When they saw that none would win this war they sneaked up to the primeval Ymir and killed him in his sleep. His blood drowned all his kin but one couple of giants who then fled to Jotunheim, which can be translated to the home of the giants.

From Ymir’s body the gods then shaped the world of men – Midgard. His blood became the rivers and seas, his flesh the lands and soil, his bones were made the mountains and his skull the sky.

There are countless of versions to be found of the creation of the world of men in the Norse cosmos. For a long time, the Vikings did not have a literary tradition; the mythology has been carried on in their culture as songs and poems from generation to generation. Changes of form and content are therefore inevitable. The traditions of the old Norse myths have been written down much later even after Christianisation.

anonymous asked:

Hi, so I'm a bit behind on what's going on, and would like to get educated on the matter. I've tried googling it, but nothing gives me a straight forward answer. What is Unite The Right, and what were they rallying for in Charlottesville? What do they have to do with white supremacist and neo-nazis? And what's all this talk about war with North Korea? I know that it may be a bit annoying to explain it all, I just want to get more informed and involved in everything. Thanks!

1. North Korea has been advancing their missile program and has been making threats about said missiles being able to reach American cities. Multiple nations have placed sanctions on NK to prevent them from continuing their program, but it hasn’t been working. The other day Trump threatened NK with “fire and fury the world has never seen before”. Basically he threatened a country with nuclear war, which is certainly not the way to deal with a nation like NK.

2. The Unite the Right rally was a group of white supremacists (nazis) who got together to march through the streets of Charlottesville with torches and rifles to complain that white people were being “oppressed”. These displays have mostly been because statues of confederate icons around Virginia are being taken down because they are a monument to the men who fought to keep slaves and because its 2017 and that sort of thing wasn’t supposed to be an issue anymore (clearly that’s not the case). Anyway these people were met by anti-nazi, anti-white supremacy protesters who were peacefully enacting their right to do so via the 1st amendment. The violence that broke out was that a car drove through a crowd of people and killed 1 and injured 19. There were other fights and violent acts that occurred with the anti-nazi protestors being attacked as well that injured others.

hope that helps.

Bayverse!anon again I'm a bit disappointed in both fandom and film makers that the tragedies shown in the movies are not being discussed more in depth. I have nobody who cares enough about the franchise to discuss anything except the "explosions", but that's why I appreciate your insight. There was something about the movies that left me with a weird feeling. You put it into words when you explained that the Transformers are facing extinction. Having seen TLK recently, I noticed that P ½

P 2/2 Optimus and Megatron’s actions can be seen from different perspectives. No doubt Optimus is the better person of the two. However, if I was a Transformer there is a chance I could side with Megatron especially after AoE. During the last fight in against Quintessa one of my thoughts was: if I was a Transformer desperate and angry enough I would probably let her? This is what makes the theme of extinction so interesting. It has no solution. And at the end of the film nobody is really fine.

Hm, I’ve heard similar arguments for Megatron, including Tyran Megatron. However, I find it is an error in judgment for a variety of reasons beyond the “Well, Megatron is the worst.”

Cool motive, still genocide

Uhm hello but do you all honestly believe that every single person who interacts with Darren or has any kind of association eg. Starkid, Mia, his team ect anybody who isn’t Chris bloody Colfer is causing Darren harm and have control over his life and career decisions? Honestly, if you guys actually supported Darren, you’d RESPECT his ability to be an ADULT MAN and make his own choices in what he does and who he chooses to LOVE, collaborate and trust in his career and entrepreneurial ventures.

Anon, I have nothing but the upmost respect for D and I am fully aware that he is a grown adult.

However, he is a grown adult in a extremely unforgiving environment. Hollywood is NOT LGBT+ friendly and has been repressing actors for years.  And you can’t deny it, Kev/in just came out and he was closeted by the same people who closeted D.

Further he is bound by legally binding contracts that are controlling his situation.  If he had the power, trust me he would be working with different people and telling the world his truth.

To be honest, I have more respect for D (and C as well) than I do for most adults. He is one of the bravest humans I have ever watched and he is incredibly strong. I don’t even think he realizes just how strong he is. He has been tortured and traumatized for over seven years all because he wanted to share his talent with the world.  And despite that, he has fought valiantly the entire time. Yes, he has lost a lot of battles, but he has won a great deal.

And better he is going to win the war. I have no doubt about that.  All of the strength and the energy he has put into winning is going to result in a resounding victory.

But you know how you don’t respect him?  By blatantly ignoring the manner in which he has been talking to you for years and showing you how unhappy he is in his public relationship.  Because if you read my blog, you are fully aware of all of the issues and of the manner in which he has tried to scream to the world about who he is and who he loves.

What is wrong with SasuSaku

Submission by shadowwhowalks, it’s really good, read it.

Here, I shall attempt to describe what is fundamentally wrong with SasuSaku and the reason it represents an unhealthy and emotionally destructive relationship that lacks development and undermines individual characters in Canon. I am aware that with good development and characterization, it could’ve more than reasonably flown off. However, Kishimoto’s sub-bar writing in the last arcs created such an abomination of a canon relationship often referred to as SasuSaku (Naruhina’s Canon development isn’t much better, but that is an other topic). I don’t dislike any character individually, however together, they brought the worst out of each other; if that is not something negative or unhealthy, I don’t know what is.

I didn’t really make Sakura out to be a “heroine”, my point of view had been that if a somewhat dislikeable character was introduced, I wondered if it would become interesting… I created Naruto and created Sasuke, the last one was Sakura. But I think she’s a cheerful, good character. The type that wants to be leader and is energetic and, in front of Sasuke, childlike. That is what I decided was the way of the keyword Sakura. -Kishimoto**_ _

** SJ: Which of your three students would make the best ninja instructor? Kakashi: I think it would be Sakura. She has flaws in her personality, like stalking Sasuke. […]

In front of Sasuke, her personality changes but his apathy is constant.

[referring to inner Sakura] _A strong ‘other Sakura’! In front of Sasuke, the difference between their actions make it impossible for them to be the same two people. Is this a part of her charm? _-Sakura’s entry, Data book 2

Sakura begins the story as a scared, helpless ninja who learns to toughen up and is eventually trained by the Tsunade in medicine ninjutsu and combat probably surpassing her after the war. She has one of the best chakra control in the ninja world, with physical and mental strength to match. Unfortunately, she returns to the same meek stuttering fangirl at the beginning of the series when Sasuke is involved.

Sasuke starts off as a quiet, mysterious character with a traumatic past which has made him reclusive and angry. He had much more opportunity to open up to Sakura in part 1 since they went on missions together, fought together, and functioned as teammates, but he still wouldn’t talk indepth about himself or his weaknesses, but would often ignore her. However, understandable defensiveness in part 1, even if it is sometimes irrational, turns into willful neglect and aggression in part 2.

The problem isn’t ‘abuse’ since the ninja world is violent and Sasuke wasn’t exactly sane for a significant part of the manga. It is that their interaction brought the worst out of each other personality and emotion wise. And the problem is that none of the issues between them was ever addressed nor resolved. One curt and unexplained ‘yeah, sorry’, and a timeskip doesn’t cut it. As if that one word makes up for the complete disregard of Sakura’s life and safety, or the hurtful words he gave her, or him undermining her hard work (the basis of her character growth).

Do you know any good AU's where Harry and Draco get tied together (mind or physical)? I love your blog btw

Hey, Anon! Thank you for the ask and for saying that you love my blog, especially since it’s pretty much been BWB (blog, what blog?) for me lately. Sorry it took me so long to respond to your ask, but hopefully these stories make up for it. I’ve seen a lot of other people rec this trope, so I tried to include a few stories that aren’t mentioned as often. <3 I imagine that most people are already familiar with Bond, a fandom classic by AnnaFugazzi, but it felt wrong to leave it off this list since it’s sooo good.

Sasuke’s Movie Guide Profile

Because I’m still translating stuff from Retsu no Sho.

Uchiha Sasuke

The lone shinobi who carries the strongest doujutsu

Possessing the powerful doujutsu “sharingan,” Sasuke is the final survivor of the Uchiha clan, and Naruto’s rival. He abandoned the village and became an avenger, but he fought together with Naruto in the Fourth Shinobi World War. After that, he settled things with Naruto and left on a journey. Having experienced numerous battles and awakening the “mangekyou sharingan” and the “rinnegan,” he has mastered genjutsu unparalleled in power.

A “Susano’o” endowed with absolute power manifests by means of his two doujutsu.

His heart was taken by vengeance towards Konoha, which took his respected and beloved older brother away from him.

Carrying on his brother’s sentiments, he fights alongside Naruto in the final battle.

Kusanagi Sword

Since his time with Orochimaru, he has carried his often-used katana in his sash. Sasuke channels the raiton jutsu “chidori” into this katana and uses it. When he does this, its sharpness can cut in half defensive opponents, katana and all.

The kusanagi sword with its sharpness increased by raiton. With a slashing attack that made defense useless, he chased after Naruto.

Sharingan and Rinnegan

The “Mangekyou Sharingan” in his right eye is a transplant from his older brother Itachi. It can invoke genjutsu unparalleled in power. The “Rinnegan” in his left eye has the ability to switch his position with that of another person.

By inheriting the power of the Rikudou Sennin, Sasuke obtained the two ultimate doujutsu.

Art of Sasuke

Cloak: Sasuke’s travel attire is a cloak that completely covers his upper body. His face is usually covered by the hood.

Bandages: Without wrist protectors or shin guards, he is equipped with bandages on his wrists and ankles. With no protective gear whatsoever, he continues his journey with a more casual style than before.

Alright so I don’t get why people gotta divide issues like these as “good” or “evil”. Everyone has been debating about Rose’s character since Bismuth and I wanna lay my piece so here it is: Rurouni Kenshin.

Now if anyone knows Rurouni Kenshin, it’s about Kenshin Himura, the sweetest goof to grace Meiji Era Japan.

He is cute, he is kind, he does not ever want to kill, and he wants to resolve everything in peace as much as he possibly can.

He also was a war veteran in the revolution who paved the path to victory in deaths of many enemy troops.

Kenshin Himura killed many, and when the war ended, he took up a sword that could not kill and swore an oath that he’d never take another life for as long as he lived.

And now we have Rose Quartz

Rose Quartz is incredibly similar to Kenshin, when you think about it. Both strong, both kind, both adorable and quirky, and both fought a revolution in hopes of a new world. Kenshin and Rose both fought wars for peace.

And, according to the latest episode, Rose Quartz has “shattered” Pink Diamond. which to gems is basically killing them. So, like Kenshin, Rose has taken a life in battle during a war.

Now the situations seem to be a bit different here: Kenshin continued to fight and kill until the war was done. He took up his Reverse Blade Sword after the war was over.

Rose, as evident by Bismuth, was against shattering gems by at least the middle of the war against Homeworld. Her weapon, like Kenshin, could only stop a gem, but could not kill them, and when given the choice to have a weapon that could easily shatter a gem, she refused, like Kenshin refused to use any other weapon in a fight.

So, from context, it can mean one of two things: Pink Diamond was her first and only kill, or Rose’s kills are limited to only a number much smaller than an average war (especially considering the grand wipe out of Crystal Gems during the war).

Whether Pink Diamond was shattered or not is even still debatable, because the truth of the matter is, we only have a second hand story from Rubies that claimed they saw her do it, and for all we know, Homeworld could believe Pink Diamond was shattered and in truth could be elsewhere (bubbled, actually Lion, etc), but for the sake of the information, we’re going to assume the information is accurate and Rose Quartz did shatter Pink Diamond somewhere along the revolution, which gives Rose and Kenshin another thing in common: they both made questionable decisions in their life.

But now, here is the part that I don’t get: Kenshin, by canon, has slaughtered hundreds over the years he spent in the war, and has spent much of his story trying to leave behind the image of the man-slayer he had to be for the war, and yet no one has ever questioned if Kenshin Himura was good or bad. The majority saw him as the hero, despite making questionable decisions and even debating if he had to break his vow not to kill.

And then we go back to Rose Quartz.

Maybe there is some bias because Kenshin was the main character of the show where Rose Quartz canonly does not exist in the world anymore and we only see glimpse of her from Greg’s flashbacks and from the mouths of the gems who knew her, and maybe it’s also because Steven Universe is a children’s show where it couldn’t be as generally violent as the more mature audience Rurouni Kenshin, but from what I see, Rose Quartz seemed to make a lot of the same decisions Kenshin made, between fighting in a rebellion, doing whatever dirty work had to be done, and then deciding that after it was done, they never wanted to do it again. In fact, because Rose’s weapon couldn’t destroy a gem, she decided to not shatter again before the war even ended, where Kenshin finished the war before he made his oath. So what I don’t understand is why we question the morality of one and not the other?

I get this is a really long over analyze of a children’s show, but the point I wanted to make was that when it comes to characters that have depth and aren’t “Captain Save The World and The Kittens” heroes vs “I Step On Ladybugs For Pleasure” villains, then there are going to be blends of gray. Different shades, yeah, but part of being alive is being a shade. I didn’t like the mentality of having to choose if Bismuth or Rose was the bad guy, because neither of them had terrible intentions. Bismuth wanted to end the war and save her allies, and Rose didn’t want to shatter gems, even enemies. And that’s the beauty of the conflict; the whole situation was a matter of gray, and no one can even say which one was wrong or right. Rose didn’t use it, and despite winning the war, lost virtually her entire army. Bismuth could have saved them, but at the same time, would have resorted to using Homeworld’s tactics and shattering an incredible amount of gems. Both had their reasons, and both had their convictions, and neither one of them were evil for it.

Now, with the Pink Diamond situation, more posts about Rose being wicked keep surfacing, I don’t like the idea of branding a character who has made questionable decisions, especially in a war, evil. Rose didn’t harm innocents, she harmed their tyrannical leader, but her character is questioned because she shattered her instead of handling it without violence. But she killed maybe one gem, and Kenshin killed squadrons, but Kenshin’s character was never questioned by fans if he was good or bad, even when he questioned it himself.

I love Kenshin, I love Rose, I love Bismuth, and I love any character who had ever made a questionable decision, and I would hate to see those characters diminish because we feel the need to brand them as bad unless they remained utterly paciest their entire story and never have them come to a point where they may not always know what was the good or bad decision and having to trust their own gut on what they felt was the best thing to do. I want so many more characters like this and I can’t wait to see what tomorrow’s newest episode will tell us.

If you had the chance to write for the new Zelda TV show (I'd DIE of happiness if you got that opportunity, by the way), how do you think you'd write the show?

All right, so, sorry this took so long.  I got carried away.  It’s super long and I didn’t even finish everything I wanted to cover, but hey.  Better posted than wasting away in my drafts, right?!  I can add to it later.

So, without further adieu:

Three unlikely allies are caught in the affairs of kings and churches as they search for the one thing that can save the world…or destroy it

We Happy Few 11x22

The title of the episode comes from Shakespeare’s play Henry V and his famous “St Crispin’s Day speech” to the troops before battle against the French, of which part reproduced here:

“This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.”

Henry V is a play which has been understood by some critics as an anti-war play and by others as a glorification of war. In other words, it is a text with a dual meaning (as of course, given its prominent subtextual elements, is Supernatural, much of the time).

This metatextual reference (if we take the anti-war reading) speaks to the fact that Chuck’s fight with Amara is clearly, in many respects, unjust.

God’s rag-tag army consists of a bunch of angels reluctantly recruited by Cas (I’m surprised they hopped on board at all, given God couldn’t even bring himself to ask in person) the erstwhile King of Hell (Crowley), his Mum Rowena and her witchy friends, Lucifer in the vessel of Castiel, and the Winchester Bros. It’s hardly a “happy” few (in any sense of the word) and the cause is not really ever so noble, given God’s original sin (his mistreatment of his sister).

Henry V’s speech, incidentally, takes place on the day dedicated to two Christian saints, St. Crispin and St. Crispian. They were, allegedly, twin brothers, murdered because of their Christian faith by the Roman emperor around 3 AD (before Rome converted to Christianity).

Chuck/ God actually describes himself and Amara as “Yin and Yang” (which we might see as twins of light and dark).

In other words, the God-twins (Chuck and Amara) must (both) die.

To be honest, there are potential synergies which this season has really bungled in the myth-arc. We might have seen Sam and Dean as reflections, in microcosm, of Chuck and Amara (one “chosen” to be Lucifer’s vessel and one Michael’s) but instead we have Dean as the “firewall” between light and dark, a sort of Vitruvian man (the epitome of the human ideal). I personally dislike Dean as “the chosen one”. I’ve always preferred to see his heroism as that of everyman.

However, returning to the title of the ep, Berens might have been making another metatextual reference, to Buffy 5x22 The Gift, in which Giles and Spike (deliberately mis)quote the St Crispin’s days speech before the big show-down with Glory (with whom there are Amara parallels - both being pissed off female Gods). “We happy few,” quoth Giles,  “We band of buggered,” replies Spike.

Of course, in The Gift, Buffy sacrifices herself to save her sister (and the world).

So (despite my issues with the tone and pacing of the ep in many respects) Beren’s title provides us with some fruitful metatextual resonances - God’s unjust war, the God-twins must die, and a sibling saviour sacrifice (which indeed Sam offers) and isn’t that eternally the way with the Winchesters?
