in which i can only dream

Okay but can we just sit down and talk about all that Lin-Manuel Miranda has done at his age? He has:

- written not just one but TWO Broadway musicals(which is a feat in its own)

- came so close to getting a PEGOT this year(which I know he’s gonna get real soon. The Oscars deserve him, not the other way around.)

- composed and wrote a song for a Disney movie that has a plot commendable in its own, which, by the way, completely deserved to win said Oscar

- Is starring in the next Mary Poppins, which is a Disney movie, so now he is not only living out his lifelong dream two times over BUT is getting to star in it

- Penned music for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. If you can get Star Wars nerds to like something, you know it’s good.

- He is a really hecking good multi tasker. Even though he was in college, he was still starring in a musical that he created, and then flash forward a couple years or so and he is doing tv shows and all sorts of mania while writing a musical, then flash forward another couple of years or so and he’s starring in the freaking thing, which is still taking the world by storm now

- He rejuvenated the younger population’s love for theatre. The arts were at a slow decline, then he shoved Hamilton in our faces and lo behold, a new wave of theatre nerds began to walk the earth

- He gives a voice for those who were quickly losing it or didn’t really have it to begin with. With In the Heights, he showed everyone that the stereotypes associated with his culture were the complete opposite, and showcased Washington Heights in a way that nobody else would have ever been able to. In Hamilton, he took the whole “I only know this guy because he’s on the ten dollar bill and I think he was the president once???” thing and blew it out of the freaking water. If you would’ve asked people in early 2015 who he was, you’d get about what’d you expect, but ask literally anyone you see now and chances are they’ll know who he is (whether it be because they like the musical or hate it because everyone they know likes it, it still has the same effect)

- He! Has! Inspired! So many people!!!!!!!! Whether it be because of a Disney movie, or a play, or his commitment to what he does, or literally anything I haven’t listed (I left out a lot, this man has essentially done anything and everything), when it all comes down to it, he is so freaking inspiring and talented! I can’t even begin to list the number of people I know that he has had an impact on, and I know there are tens of thousands of people out there who view him the same way.

- So yeah, he’s done all of this and more, and is only 37. But thirty seven is kinda old, you may ask? Get back with me when you reach that age with a list of your achievements and let’s see who amounts to more.

So, I decided to make this post for you guys and I hope you find these tips as helpful as I did :)

1. Never compare yourself to others, but really, NEVER do it.

From my personal experience, I can tell you there’s nothing more destructive than comparing yourself to another person. Every single one of us unique and has their own amazing skills. Maybe one of your friends aces Physics class but you rule when it comes to Chemistry class or a foreign language. Also never let anyone make you feel like you’re not awesome because you are. As Eleanor Roosevelt would say “No one can make feel inferior without your consent.” So don’t let them and wWhat you do, do it for you.

2. See what you’re missing and do it.

If you pay attention and make fantastic notes, but still you don’t reach your desired goal and you know you can do better, check what is missing. Maybe is studying for the exam. Maybe is handing in the homework. Maybe it can be related to a poor sleep or nutrition. You gotta identify what is wrong and do something to change it.

3. Sit up front.

Again, I have experienced this and when I sit in the back I completely lose my focus and immediately start to talk with my friends and doodling on the back of my notebook. Look for the seats right in the front, you’ll be able to pay more attention to what the teacher/lecturer is saying and you’ll be more likely to get done your work fast.

4. Time management.

As a big procrastinator, I can tell you that not having a schedule or not planning your tasks can be really harmful to your grades. I know sometimes Season 4 of Sherlock sound more fun than Spanish reading but you need to prioritize. Make a list, from the most important task to the least, that way if you do not complete everything, you will have ready the most essential duties. Be strong and work hard, then relax.

5. Eat well and sleep well.

As I wrote in one of the past points, sleep and food can be a really influent factor in your school performance. If you only eat junk food and sleep four hours, you’ll be more likely to fall asleep in class or even to suffer a lack of focus and energy because of not nurturing your body properly. I know sometimes homework takes more time that we expected to get done but if it’s not school work or something really important, you should try not to stay awake (even more if your reason to lose hours of precious sleep is to be scrolling down Instagram or Tumblr, which can be done next day). Eat your veggies and get 8-hour sweet dreams.

6. Stay hydrated.

Drink at least 2 liters of water per day. It increases energy and relieves fatigue, promotes weight loss, flushes out toxins and will get you closer to the perfect skin we all want.

7. Pray

Personally, this has been really important to me, especially when it comes to a big exam or a contest. Praying always gives me peace and makes me feel more confident. I invite you to try it, you’ll see the difference. Also, studies have demonstrated that prayer helps you to have more self-control and makes you less vulnerable to the negative physical health effects associated with stress.

8. Pretend that you’ll have to teach the material you are learning, that way you’ll pay more attention and be more likely to memorize it fast.

Always do your best and remember that good thing take time.

The Domestic Garden Witch: Gardening Without Plants!

So maybe you’re a college witch with limited space and money, limited to the one window in your dorm. Or, maybe you’re a witch without extensive backyard space who wants to start up a magical garden. Perhaps you’re a kitchen witch who wants the freshest herbs right at her fingertips.

For many witches, having a garden seems to be a bit of a no-brainer. After all, plants and magic go hand-in-hand. Plus, when thinking of a witch, it’s hard not to think of a cottage in the woods with a little vegetable garden out front. Unfortunately for the majority of us, our cottage in the woods is a tiny flat, and our garden out front is a windowsill with limited space.

This is when it comes time to embrace your craftiness and bring your garden indoors! Not only does it place your garden in a convenient location, it also allows you to freshen the air, recycle what would otherwise harm the earth, and embrace your witchy green thumb!

Sand and Meditation

Something that often does not cross an individual’s mind when they hear the word “garden” is the thought of a garden without plants, especially where witches are concerned. After all, witches are sometimes known for the sheer amount of herbs and plants they collect (hell, my boyfriend sometimes criticizes the quantity of herbs I have - not my practice, mind you, just the fact that I have over thirty varieties of herbs in large quantities in my witchy drawers). But gardens take all sorts of shapes and sizes, including that of the zen garden, Japanese rock garden, or meditation garden.

Unlike planted gardens, these are minimalist creations designed to help induce meditative thought and relaxation through the use of flowing patterns and stone placement which often are likened to mountains or islands rising up from the sea. They are generally designed as large features which are raked into different patterns each day, but are easily adaptable for the small amount of room our domestic garden witch might have!

Creating Your Garden

As with any indoor garden, perhaps the first thing to look into is the type of container in which you’d like to keep it. In this case, a dish that is wider than it is tall is recommended. Choose either rounded shapes or rectangular shaped dishes that are shallow yet deep enough to hold sand.

Fill this dish with sand - white is traditional, though colored sands can be found in local craft stores or dollar stores - until it is about half full. Select visually appealing stones and set them on the sand.

With a utensil, trace ripples into the sand - flowing lines reminiscent of water are traditional.

If you feel that you want a bit of plant life, small air plants are definitely helpful. Remember to design your garden based on simplicity. Use natural themes and variations in your design to provide an aesthetic that you find appealing.

Tools of the Rock Garden

Typically when you think of a desktop zen garden, you might envision one of the little kits that you can get as a novelty gift at Barnes and Noble. In these kits, there is of course a couple of little rakes - one for smoothing out the sand and one for providing the patterns.

We’re witches on a budget, though, so let’s take a different approach - one similar to what’s pictured above. While it is completely reasonable to use a fork or a pen to make the patterns, you can take bamboo skewers or chopsticks and turn them into rakes using wire. Using these, you can smooth out the sand and rake patterns into it each day or as often as the whim takes you.

How Can I Witch This?

Unlike all of the gardens I’ve written about thus far, this is a garden whose only maintenance depends upon what you need from a meditative standpoint. Its design is not only decorative, but spiritually functional. If you’re a witch who is still fairly closeted and can’t have an altar, gardens such as these make for excellent substitutions, as they can form a sort of sacred space in which you can meditate and focus your intent.

If you’re a crystal witch, these sand gardens are a dream come true! Instead of placing stones, arrange your grids in the sand and use the rake or skewer to draw patterns in the sand to help focus the energy of the stones in your grid!

Draw sigils in the sand based on your intent and either wipe them away with the rake, or incorporate those sigils into the design of the ripples!

Sands come in various colors and grades. Play around with options for your sand! For cleansing, use a fine black sand. For empowerment, use a fiery orange or red. For healing, use white or light blue! The possibilities are near endless!

Of course, I can’t leave out my fellow kitchen witches! Salt is a key feature of the kitchen witch’s lifestyle. So much so, in fact, that in some circles it is believed that it is bad luck to run out of salt. For this reason, you can replace the sand with salt! This has a couple of benefits: first, it’s inexpensive. Second, it acts as a constant cleanser - much like a quartz cluster or a rod of selenite. When the salt has become to crusty to rake into appealing patterns, it has done its work! Dispose of the old salt and replace it with a new batch! (Do not pour the salt outside! This is harmful to the environment! Instead, find a safer way to dispose of the salt - I usually use the salt to clean out my mortar and pestle, then dissolve it in the sink to drain away).

If you use salt in place of sand, you can take the crystal grid concept a step further! Place the crystals in your “salt garden” and rake as you would if it were sand. This provides a way to cleanse your crystals in a way that is also visually appealing!

Consider different ways to make this plant-less garden a magical addition to the dorm or coffee table!

And may your harvests always be bountiful!
Blessed Be! )O(

Love Sick // Arctic Monkeys Songs for the Venus Signs

Did it for The 1975, now enjoy the Arctic Monkeys version! Taken from my favorite albums, “AM” and “Suck It and See.”

Aries venus: She’s Thunderstorms

I’ve been feeling foolish
You should try it
She came and substituted
The peace and quiet
For acrobatic blood.

Taurus venus: Fireside

There’s all those places we used to go
And I suspect you already know
But that place on memory lane you liked still looks the same
But something about it’s changed.

Gemini venus: The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala

Just when things are getting complicated in the eye of the storm
She flicks a red-hot revelation off the tip of her tongue
It does a dozen somersaults and it leaves you supercharged
Makes me wanna blow her candles out just to see if you glow in the dark.

Cancer venus: I Wanna Be Yours

If you like your coffee hot
Let me be your coffee pot
You call the shots babe
I just wanna be yours.

Leo venus: Knee Socks

And you were sitting in the corner with the coats all piled high
And I thought you might be mine
In a small world on an exceptionally rainy Tuesday night
In the right place and time.

Virgo venus: Love Is A Laserquest

Now I can’t think of air without thinking of you
I doubt that comes as a surprise
And I can’t think of anything to dream about
I can’t find anywhere to hide.

Libra venus: No. 1 Party Anthem

She’s a certified mind blower knowing full well that I don’t
I may suggest there’s somewhere from which I might know her
Just to get the ball to roll
Drunken monologues, confused because
It’s not like I’m falling in love I just want you to do me no good.

Scorpio venus: Suck It and See

Your love is like a studded leather headlock
Your kiss, it could put creases in the rain
You’re rarer than a can of dandelion and burdock
And those other girls are just Postmix lemonade.

Sagittarius venus: Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?

Now it’s three in the morning,
And I’m trying to change your mind,
Left you multiple missed calls
And to my message you reply.
Why’d you only call me when you’re high?

Capricorn venus: Do I Wanna Know?

I dreamt about you nearly every night this week
How many secrets can you keep?
‘Cause there’s this tune I found that makes me think of you somehow
When I play it on repeat
Until I fall asleep.

Aquarius venus: Reckless Serenade

Illuminations
On a rainy day
When she walks her footsteps sing
A reckless serenade.

Pisces venus: Arabella

Arabella’s got a seventies head
But she’s a modern lover
It’s an exploration, she’s made of outer space
And her lips are like the galaxy’s edge
And her kiss the colour of a constellation falling into place.

reasons why futurama is so great and is so important to so many of us

  • philip j fry is our protagonist. he is mentally ill and pansexual (both of which are canon). we watch him develop from an irresponsible “loser” who has nothing to a semi-responsible man with an entire family in the form of the planet express crew. he isn’t a typical science fiction male hero - he always has to be saved, he messes everything up, he hardly does his job, but his saving grace is the fact that he is kind. and fry’s kindness is what endears everyone on the show to him. he is the most important person in the universe even though his mind constantly tells him that he’s a nothing who has no one. (this message has helped me through so many difficult times). also, the beauty in a mentally ill queer character getting the happiest of endings imaginable puts futurama leagues ahead of every other show ever.
  • turanga leela. EVERYTHING about her. she’s a disabled orphan who grew up bullied and literally had to go through everything alone. when we meet her, time and time again, she chooses her own destiny. the first episode starts with her quitting her boring job to be the best space pilot in the galaxy. leela is the strongest person on the show and is the closest thing to a superhero that the show has. she’s an intersectional feminist, stands up for the rights of minorities and animals. hell, she literally leads a revolution to get the mutants equal rights. one other thing that i want to note is that the animators wanted her nose smaller bc they didn’t think female characters should have big noses, but legend matt groening fought to keep it the size it was.
  • matt groening also specifically created the character of amy wong to break the stereotype that only men can do slapstick. amy continuously breaks stereotypes. she’s a genius and has a phd, but she’s also ditzy. she’s promiscuous, she’s a party girl. her parents are emotionally abusive and she deals with an eating disorder. she’s also an asian woman who’s a lead character!! what other mainstream cartoon has done that?
  • hermes conrad could’ve been the stereotypical token black character who only comes in once in a while to say “sassy” lines but he’s not. he’s a proud jamaican who’s a proud bureaucrat, a former olympic champion, and an amazing husband and father. and then we see the beautiful story of how he saved bender as a baby and it just makes you love him anymore.
  • this last point isn’t about the characters, but about one of the most clear main messages of the show, which fry says in bender’s big score: “i want what’ll make you happy, not what’ll make me happy.” not only does it destroy the nice guy trope in that instance, but it’s used in so many other great situations. bender giving up a relationship with his son so that his son can achieve his dreams, leela’s parents giving up a life with her so that she can have a better life. unconditional selfless love is presented to us time and time again and it’s such an important message
I love your silence. It is so wise. It listens. It invites warmth. I love your loneliness. It is brave. It makes the universe want to protect you. You have the loneliness that all true heroes have, a loneliness that is a deep sea, within which the fishes of mystery dwell. I love your quest. It is noble. It has greatness in it. Only one who is born under a blessed star would set sail across the billowing waves and the wild squalls, because of a dream. I love your dream. It is magical. Only those who truly love and who are truly strong can sustain their lives as a dream. You dwell in your own enchantment. Life throws stones at you, but your love and your dream change those stones into the flowers of discovery. Even if you lose, or are defeated by things, your triumph will always be exemplary. And if no one knows it, then there are places that do. People like you enrich the dreams of the world, and it is dreams that create history. People like you are the unknowing transformers of things, protected by your own fairy-tale, by love.
—  Ben Okri, Astonishing the Gods
Finders Keepers

A little context - i am part of a group of a Goliath, an elf, a dwarf and a half elf (me). I tended to keep everyone in check, as I’ve played with this group of people before and they’ve done some rather….odd things. I left for about 5 minutes to search the rest of a war camp for survivors.

DM: After Liberating the prisoners of the war camp, Goliath, you start to look through everything, see what missing and forgotten possessions you can find, you find some things of value but the very last thing you find is a small bundle of cloth, you go to leave it but then it starts kicking and crying

Goliath: (Without a second of hesitation) I’ve always wanted to be a dad

Dwarf: Look. Buddy. I’m all about finders keepers when it comes to loot, i really am. but you can’t keep the child.

Goliath: but-

Dwarf: we’re planning on fighting a dragon in a few weeks! you really think we can keep a baby? it’s parents are probably right here.

Goliath: Fine. I hold the baby up lion king style and yell “DOES THIS BELONG TO ANYONE?!”

DM: Everyone immediately looks to you as you shout, holding this baby which now up close looks to be a half orc child. As everyone looks, nobody owns up to the child belonging to them.

Elf: Looks like you get to have your dream to being a dad after all

dwarf: don’t encourage this!

The Goliath not only kept the baby, but it’s a re-occurring character in our story, the Goliath learnt to write so that he’d be able to write is half orc daughter letters from where ever we go, when we’re out adventuring it stays with the Goliath best friend, a halfling and her gnome girlfriend.

and last but not least:

My interpretation of the MOON signs

(You could probs relate your sun if you want maybe even your rising)

Aries: they take up your life: being loud, leaving mess on the stairs, creating arguments out of thin air and always filling the void with their drama. Very self-centred but oblivious to it so I’ll let it be. Problems they hav always someone else’s fault. Very loving and cuddly and express passion easily. Never stick to hobbies after announcing that its there biggest passion n cant survive without it. Though, they don’t wait around for things to be handed to them - they are always up to something interesting. Independent.

Taurus: they are great to spill your words upon and never flinch when u say something deep or shocking so it makes u chill af cause they are…Most of the time…they can get angered when things aren’t as it should as they are very stubborn. don’t like people who aren’t committed to friendship or plans/dreams and dont like people who dont give their stuff back. Seemed to hav cows eyes: very deep n dreamy and long eyelashes -often brown eyes that i know of or watery blue eyes. lov food or other luxuries.

Gemini: childlike, like everything light hearted and humorous. there has to always be words to fill up the quiet spaces otherwise they start to get agitated. Dont like boring people and will blatantly walk off or something. Nervouusss people. Tapping all the time. When they’re in a goood mood they’re goofy but can become detached and cold and become a bit of a smart arse. Like knowing their shit.

Cancer: homely people. Warm and loving to fault as they are always let down by others who do not give the same warmth and pure emotions back. I think they could probably guilt trip u many times. emotions are not hidden which is good and bad because shots are firedddd and their words filled venom when there really cheesed off. Like lots of nice things. also love cute fluffy animals. Love their family to be always near - protective can become smothering. Talk about the ‘good old days’ 24/7.

Leo: why are you so posey and dramatic? They like to tell a tall tale - love to add bits to the truth to make it more exciting - which is actually interesting to hear tbh so good job :) they love to be centre of attention obvs. Also hold their heads high and always seem taller than actually are. Full of exuberance. & they often believe in their abilities so they achieve good grades and r smarttt!

Virgo: lovs when people do little silly things for them because they like when people are as detail orientated as them. expect too much of people becaus they do too much for others. Nervous but lowkey cause their earthiness sort of makes it hum in the background. Has potential to be shady. I love their organisation, chills me the f out. Some reason i feel they be really good at ASMR videos because of their voice & movements. and they r actually quite talkative but its usually nothing too intellectual or snobbish just good natter. Bites their nails!

Libra: i dont get them. They dont make an imposing impression on me as they’re delicate and not too in ya face. Loves knitted jumpers and wearing light colours Ive noticed. Sweet n gentle. Probs could get away with murder. Gets really into things like a celeb or tv series for a while. Has fan blogs probably. like to talk about things such as kpop, clothes, items in their neat pencil case and make up. Idkkk

Scorpio: protectivveee. Intense. Passionate about theirs hobbies and interests. Can become lost in their own intellectual, abstract world forgetting what is truly important until they realise and become regretful and then hold many unresolved grudges. They are e m o t i o n a l but try to hide it - constantly simmering and on the verge of erupting. Though they are quite interested in their own passion - they’ll hype u up about yours and talk for hours about theirs and your own dreams. Abstract knowledge that seems to appear out of no where when they speak -unconventionally smart.

Sagittarius: want to escape reality. Someone i used to know would read a lot of books - probs erotic - she also used her work as escapism? her husband wouldn’t take her on holiday:( another i know comes across very cool and full of knowledge and like to says corny things like ‘you might as well live your life to the fullest because you’ve only got one’. acts like a philosopher. Has gooood taste in music. knows everyone and can keep good relationships with all of them.

Capricorn: thinks they’re are funny af but peeps often laugh at their jokes cause they’re just a bit shit. Tries to come across cool 😎looking for a for job but isn’t working out lol. Wants fame n fortune. they love to talk deep and intellectual without getting too personal. probably quite lovey dovey but it is buried deep inside them. likes to keep it light by listening to music or watching the telly otherwise there thoughts overwhelm them. ( i hav cap moon so might look like a different viewpoint to the others moon signs)

Aquarius: loves to make a point that they are different lol. Intellectual af cause they really smart. Can talk for hours on end but still likes down time. they are the world’s friend but they only let a few know the real them (if thats is actually the real them ). Quirky sense of humour. Hav big dreams and most likely succeed in pursuing them. they are very open about weird stories and experiences they hav had which is fun to hear. will hav something to say about every topic on earth - love to share an opinion.

Pisces: too kind for their own good. They know your weaknesses/insecurities from first time you meet. i think they have melancholy spells which they find themselves in a trance - i catch them staring blankly quite a lot. Love to ask if you’re okay. Mooody. Let down by humanity. Very chatty and has of cool things to say. Music may rule their life - musically talented in one case ik (probs used as escapism). Can be burdened with very unsettling thoughts of not being good enough; making sure they keep there reputation for being the nice guy which means getting pushed about

rated T, 2.3k also on AO3 here

It’s four am and the diner is quiet. Derek finishes wiping down a table; life as usual, he’s alone, he’s at work, everything goes on as it does. He refills coffee for the two tired-looking truckers sitting at the counter and goes back to refilling the salt shakers.

The last time Cora was home, she’d asked if he and Laura ever considered selling the place. “Doesn’t do much business,” she said, trying to be gentle. Say it was okay to let go. But she’d only been a baby when the accident happened that took their parents; she didn’t have memories growing up here the way Derek and Laura did, playing hide-and-seek under the counters, watching their dad bake pies and their mom fill coffee, listening to travelers talk about their lives on the road.

Hale’s is fifty miles from the nearest town in either direction, a blink-and-miss-it diner still stuck in the ‘50s, right off the Pacific Coast Highway. The little town of Beacon Hills is an hour away, so almost all the patrons are travellers, people looking for respite from the road, on their way up to the redwoods or heading down to San Francisco and Los Angeles. There’s a little wall of autographs from famous people who’ve dined here; cowboys and starlets and authors and people Derek’s parents took a shine to. The diner is a historic landmark, not to mention it’s always been home to Derek.

So Laura manages the day shift and Derek does the night. It works out well; he doesn’t have to interact with people much. He and Laura were homeschooled until high school, and Derek had found Beacon Hills High School overwhelming with its crowds.

The radio starts a new song; it’s one of Derek’s favorites. He doesn’t remember the name of the artist, but it makes Derek feel alive. The song lyrics aren’t particularly sensual, but the man’s voice is— Derek shudders, feeling his blood run hot under his skin, and he imagines the warm touch of someone pulling him close, embracing him, kissing him—

“Can I take this coffee to go?”

“Oh. Sure,” Derek says, pouring the trucker’s coffee into a plastic cup.

They leave him a decent tip and are off, the bell jingling as they go.

Derek sighs, watching the moonlight dance across the ocean in the distance. He listens to the rustling of the trees, and occasionally a car will drive past the diner, lights blaring.

He turns off the radio and hums the song to himself as he sweeps up.

There’s longing here, of a love long lost, and Derek is lost to the song, to the memories it drags up.

Nothing but the sound of waves crashing on the shore, the white hot sun burning just beyond Derek’s closed eyes. He can feel the warm body next to him stir awake, and then fingers carding through his hair.

“Derek… hey. You awake?”

“Nope,” Derek says, and he can already picture it: Stiles leaning over him, his hair still wet, eyes bright with laughter.

SNK ENDING THEORY

The recent chapter got me wondering how SNK is going to end. While it looked like a deceptively straightforward chapter it made me realise something very big.

So we know that in one generation there are a total of nine shifters each with a power of one particular Titan. The way to pass on the power is to either get eaten or die after living the shortened life span of 13 years after which the co-ordinate (a bond that connects all Eldians) will pick a seemingly random Eldian to inherit the powers.

This got me thinking; What if a titan shifter eats another shifter? Will they get the power of two Titans?

Now we know for the fact that this is in fact possible.
Grisha (the attack titan) ate Frieda Reiss and gained her powers which in turn was passed on to Eren when he ate Grisha.

Thus reducing the number of titan shifters from nine to eight with the power of two Titans with Eren.

Now here is how I think it will end.

One shifter will have to eat all the rest, thus gaining the power of all nine shifters. Eren seems like the most likely candidate because he possesses the powers of the co-ordinate which means that if they find a way to kill him in a way that snaps the bond of the co-ordinate to the Eldian’s then he can put a stop the Titan curse and prevent it from passing on to others as he’ll die possessing the power of all nine titans.

By doing this the co-ordinate will snap thus freeing all Eldian’s of the curse making them unable to turn into Titans. This will also subsequently mean that all the mindless Titans will revert back to humans as they will also lose the ability to become Titans in the first place without the co-ordinate tying them together.

It will solve the Marley and Eldia crisis too as the Eldians no longer possess a threat to Marley without the Titan genes thus putting a stop to the discrimination and separation.

Now if this is true we have to consider a few things.

1)Eren WILL die.
I think this is inevitable no matter what the end is because Eren has never been the AND then he lived happily ever after character. Sacrificing himself for the sake of saving humanity and quite literally ending all Titans while doing so is the thing that fits him perfectly.

2)Eren will have to eat Armin.
This is the worst part of this theory but also the thing that makes me positive that this theory maybe quite true.

For the life of me I couldn’t figure out why Armin became a shifter. It’s utterly out of place for his character and I just can’t see him fitting into the category of the other Titan shifters such as Annie, Eren, Ymir, etc because he’s a strategist over everything else and definitely not a fighter like the rest.

But then again what better way of tearing the readers hearts out than making Eren eat Armin and truly weigh the cost of saving humanity, a goal that he’s been so set for since the beginning. It’s the only thing that will make him waver, we saw how he and Mikasa were willing to go to whatever lengths to save him and the fact that they fought so hard to keep him alive only for this end makes it a whole lot more crueler yet fitting of the entire them of SNK. Armin I feel is the kind to readily accept it and sacrifice himself just like he did during the battle in shiganshina.

A lot of people think that since Armin is the narrator he’ll be alive by the end of it. I personally think this story has no narrator but is simply being read out from Armin’s journal which he was seen writing in 88.

3)Mikasa will be the last one standing.
No matter which way I look at it this is probably the most sound theory of all. It’s not only because of the dream panel we had in chapter one where Eren saw Mikasa saying goodbye but it’s because there is no other way her ending can go.

A cruel and beautiful ending just like her character.

While she’ll be alive to see the world freed from Titans it will be only after both Eren and Armin have been cruelly snatched away from her leaving her all alone but yet giving her the opportunity to be her own person.

This is an end that will show character development and with her saying goodbye to Eren when he’s about to die will mark her development into someone who can stand on her own now thus fulfilling what Isayama had said in his interview of them having a bittersweet ending where Mikasa will become her own person and stand on her own two feet without depending on Eren.

I think this is how SNK is going to end but God I hope I’m wrong. I won’t be handle any of this.

anonymous asked:

do you think SU's character inconsistency is objectively a bad thing? i don't really even notice it when i'm watching the episodes, and i like the fact that every boarder has a different style! i like seeing everybody's slightly different interpretations of the characters.

I am not qualified in animation to judge whether something is “objectively” bad or not.

But I do know that something very important in animation is silhouette. The shape of the character has to be distinct, so it could be recognizable in every environment, light level or context. When the shape of a character is inconsistent, it can’t achieve this as well. This is especially important in SU where there’re multiples of most gems, who have similar designs and color schemes to the main character. Without distinct silhouettes, it could become rather confusing who is who.

And about noticeability, I don’t notice the off-modelness of SU most of the time either. But it is noticeable when compared to other shows. I’m gonna use AT again because its model consistency is very good.

Here is Finn’s normal self.

And here is Finn inside a trippy dream sequence.

The ears on his hat are longer. Which gives off a weird uncanny feeling, Like something is slightly off. Here Finn is drawn slightly off model on purpose to give off a certain atmosphere. But it can only work because Finn is usually so on-model and consistent that when he’s not, it’s noticeable.

SU with its inconsistent animation can’t really achieve the effect that intentionally going off model does, since its character’s proportions are always “off”.

So in conclusion, even though SU’s character inconsistency isn’t “objectively bad”, I do think it limits the show and the things the creators can do with their characters more than it gives them any freedom.

To any artists, especially those who are young or new to art, please know that realism isn’t the end all be all of art.

I was on Instagram and I saw a post about this and there were people trying to argue that realism is superior by nature and cartoon/anime style is easy by nature. Yeah…screw that shit.

Having your own opinion about which is better or easy or requires more skill is one thing. Saying that realism is inherently better than cartoon work is just ignorant.

Imagine being like 13 and watching a show like Sailor Moon and thinking “I wanna do something like that” only to have a bunch of people tell you “you can do that, but you’ll never be as good as someone who draws realism.” Talk about dream crushing.

As someone who does both, I can tell you that realism and cartoonism have their pros and cons. Personally I prefer cartoonism, but I find realism MUCH easier. There’s no one true rule to all this, it all just comes down to each artist’s personal preference.

Remember:

-Speed doesn’t equal quality. Just because realism often takes a while, doesn’t mean it’s better than a cartoon. You can spend hours on a realistic portrait and it can still turn out like shit. It’s also very possible for an artist to spend a long while on a cartoon drawing. (I don’t even know why people kept bringing up the speed thing, because it makes no sense)

-A good cartoon style is not easy. There’s a reason why every random fuck on the street who draws a cartoon isn’t working for Disney, and that’s because there’s more to a cartoony style than just ‘draw some random person with big eyes and a small body’ or whatever. If you can see that Sailor Moon and Princess Jasmine wouldn’t look right in the same picture, then you can understand that every single cartoon/anime style has rules that must be conformed to for the drawing to be cohesive. That’s not something you can just pick up as a beginner. It takes time and hard work.

IDK how to end this, so I’ll just say again that realism is not the end all be all of art. Don’t be that one asshole who tries to say that realism and cartoonism aren’t equal, or that one asshole who puts down artists for what they draw or how they choose to draw it. There’s no one good way to do art, it’s all down to taste.

Why Phichit is my Favorite Character

In honor of reaching 500 followers, I decided it was about time I made a post that shows that this blog is actually what it sounds like. This is going to be a long ride full of incoherent rambling, so hold on tight. Yes I am listening to Shall We Skate and Terra Incognita on repeat while writing this

Lets start from the beginning. The first time we see Phichit, we see him for only a few seconds, where he only says one line of dialogue, ¨Yuuri!¨, which was preceded by a giggle. We don’t see him again for the rest of the episode, or the next. Or the next. There is nothing that you can glean from this character at first glance.

But that was the moment I fell in love with the character that is Phichit Chulanont.

See, It wasn’t his first official appearance that made me fall in love with him. The reason I liked this character so much was because I understood he was close to Yuuri and cared about him. Now, for those of you who don’t know, I became invested in Yuri!!! on ICE because of Yuuri and the premise + figure skating. Not victuuri, although that was wonderful because!!! Representation!!! I was just glad there was a main character I, and many others, could deeply relate to. But this post isn’t about Yuuri. Its about Phichit. And because I could see he cared for Yuuri, I got interested.

So I watched the scene again to figure out what I could. And here is what I was able to come up with.

He lives in Thailand, but has just arrived home after being somewhere else, or is leaving. More likely the former. He is cheerful, and invested somewhat in social media. He is close friends with Yuuri, or at least acquainted, and is likely a figure skater.

I looked him up after that, and my love only grew.

Also, we had this picture in the ending

God I love him

The next time we see Phichit, we see him in a video call with Yuuri in episode 4. His first appearances are all very Yuuri-centered.

But boy did this scene deliver a BIG LOAD of information.

I had been right about quite a few things from my first guesses about Phichit. He just arrived back in Thailand and likes social media, as seen by the literal touchscreen gloves and multiple IG posts. He is also very close with Yuuri. VERY CLOSE. I damn near cried over how comfortable and happy Yuuri became when he was talking with Phichit. And how comfortable PHICHIT looked when he was talking to Yuuri.

They had clearly been friends for a long time, Yuuri even knew phrases in Phichits native language, and I have no doubts that Phichit knows phrases in Japanese.

This sort of familiarity and calm interaction is something we only really see Yuuri take part in when he is with his family, +the Nishigori’s, at least at the beginning of the series.

When Yuuri starts talking about composer girl, Phichit is able to immediately understand what Yuuri needs without even having to hear Yuuri say it. That is the kind of friendship some can only dream of.

We already know Phichit is a wonderful, reliable friend from less than a minute of interaction. Less than a minute. I counted. I have seen dozens of shows where it takes multiple WHOLE EPISODES to understand the relationship between two characters, but with Yuri on Ice it takes less than a minute. This is a result of good writing and good, rounded characters.

Which leads to my next topic of discussion.

Phichit is such a well-rounded character holy shit

There are no lingering doubts about Phichit’s character. There isn’t a scene where you are left wondering, “Why did Phichit do this” or “What is Phichit thinking” because we know, at least in my case. As long as you understand Phichit as a character you can understand the motivations behind his actions.

Episode 6 is a beautiful Phichitfest and I was having a good ol’ time.

Now, for reference, episode 6 is when I really got into Yuri on Ice as a show. Characters I didn’t really like were starting to have more appeal, like Viktor, and characters I loved got better, somehow.

Bonus points for fashion goddamn

HE CALLS CELESTINO CIAO CIAO. CIAO CIAO. HE IS SO PRECIOUS

His constant need to document everything on social media is also much appreciated.

also this

Captain of the #victuuri ship honestly same Phichit

So,as I’m watching this episode I’m just waiting and thinking

when do i get to see Phichit skate?? when??

I find out Phichit skates first and Im !!!!

then he skates.

AND BOY DOES HE EVER FUCKING SKATE

Phichit steps out onto that rink in his princely attire and I am gone then and there.

Shall We Skate? is such a masterpiece and I LOVE IT

You can say what you want about Phichit, but if you cant see how much Phichit adores skating through his performance than you clearly haven’t watched the series.

I have a record of crying every time I watch Phichit skate when I watched the episodes he was in for the first time. Every time. This one is no exception.

The fact that the audience is shown to get very caught up in Phichit’s performance made me so happy? These people, who are all there to support the more popular skaters, are getting caught up in the dance of a skater who hadn’t even been on their radar.

After his skate was done, he was still RIDICULOUSLY PROUD AND SUPPORTIVE OF HIS FELLOW SKATERS EVEN IF THEY SCORED HIGHER THAN HIM

JUST

LOOK AT HIM

HES SO PROUD!!

what a good friend fukc i love him

What I wouldn’t give to have a friend like Phichit

Ok.

Terra Incognita.

me too ciao ciao

This performance showed how much you can glean from a person while watching them skate. And yes. I cried.

Just.

His motivation for skating is so fucking clear.

He wants to make his country proud.

And he does.

The audience is rooting for Phichit, he gets the crowd hyped up and he delivers.

He worked his ass off for this performance and it pays off

He nails all of his components and scores higher than he ever has

He is so confident that hes won and he WINS

HE FUCKING WINS

HE BEATS YUURI AND CHRIS AND LEO ALL OF WHOM WERE MAJOR CONTENDERS FOR THE GRAND PRIX

HE WINS HIS FIRST GOLD MEDAL

AND AFTER THE ROSTELECOM CUP BECOMES THE FIRST THAI SKATER TO ADVANCE TO THE GRAND PRIX FINAL

HE??? IS SO GOOD

And that’s why it made me so mad when he lost the Grand Prix Final.

Sixth. Place.

I love the other skaters. I really do. But JJ did not deserve a bronze medal. He was way over scored and should have gotten last place. Phichit scored about as high as the previous years third place winner. JJ.

His Shall We Skate made me hella emotional and sob along with him at the end. He is SUCH A GOOD SKATER.

I never cried as hard during the entirety of YOI as I did during Phichit’s Terra Incognita performance. He was so happy to just be performing. Even after he messed up one jump he continued to smile.

That is what makes a performer.

Phichit entertains the audience. He holds their attention and gets them hyped up and on the edge of their seats.

He has fun while he skates and just genuinely loves his sport.

This gif sums it up pretty well

and I may be really salty about his loss but i am SO PROUD OF HIM

I am going to quote something I said when I first made this blog.

“Just by qualifying for the Grand Prix Finals, Phichit won. He may not have won a medal, but he achieved not only one of his dreams, skating “Shall We Skate” in a major competition, but also made history by becoming the first Thai skater to compete in the Grand Prix Finals. WE should all be extremely proud of him, and hopefully watch him continue to made his dreams reality in the next season!”

I stand by this statement fully and wholeheartedly. Yes, Phichit deserved to be placed higher, and yes, it was completely unfair. But lets be proud of what he did achieve, and appreciate him for the amazing character he is.

tldr; Phichit is a wonderful character and I love him. Thanks for 500 followers!

• The Mirror •

It seems to make me return to the place, poignantly dear to my heart, where my grandfathers house used to be in which l was born 40 years ago right on the dinner table. Each time I try to enter it, something prevents me from doing that. I see this dream again and again. And when I see those walls made of logs and the dark entrance, even in my dream I become aware that I’m only dreaming it. And the overwhelming joy is clouded by anticipation of awakening. At times something happens and I stop dreaming of the house and the pine trees of my childhood around it. Then I get depressed. And I can’t wait to see this dream in which I’ll be a child again and feel happy again because everything will still be ahead, everything will be possible…

First woman to officially run Boston Marathon finishes race again at 70
Fifty years after becoming the first woman to officially finish the Boston Marathon, Kathrine Switzer has done it again.
By ABC News

Fifty years after becoming the first woman to officially finish the Boston Marathon, Kathrine Switzer has done it again.

“I’m exhilarated,” she told ABC News after finishing the 26.2-mile race on Monday. “All the way along the route, people had heard my story, saw my bib, and they were holding signs up that read ‘261 Fearless’ and 'Go, Kathrine!’ They were screaming and going crazy. It was amazing, especially the little girls who were there with their moms. They were just jumping up and down.”

Behind pioneering female runner’s return to Boston Marathon 50 years later

Switzer, 70, crossed the finish line with an unofficial time of 4:44:31, just 24 minutes slower than her time as a 20-year-old. She said it has always been her dream to return to the streets of Boston after making history there in 1967.

“It’s just an enormous sense of gratitude for the city of Boston, the streets of Boston, which changed my life and helped pave the way for what is nothing less than a social revolution in women’s running,” she said. “When I crossed the finish line — to celebrate 50 years of looking back and seeing the huge progress and changes that have been made — I can only say that I’m extremely grateful for the experience.”

Switzer signed up for the 1967 Boston Marathon, which until that point was predominantly run by men, as K.V. Switzer. While women were not officially barred from the course, people did not believe women were capable of running such a distance. A woman previously ran the race without a bib number. Race officials did not know that Switzer was running until she entered the second mile of the race. That’s when race official Jock Semple ran up behind her and tried to rip off her bib in order to disqualify her. She was able to break free of his grasp, and her boyfriend shoved him to the ground. She kept running, becoming a symbol of girl power in sports.

Switzer said she was thinking of Semple, who later became her friend, as she passed that spot in the race today. Semple died in 1988.

“I just blew him a big kiss. I said, 'There you go, Jock,’” she said. “This was the guy who, for better or worse, changed my life. As it turned out, it was for better. At the time, it was a terrible experience, but in the fullness of time, it was the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Switzer donned her original bib number, 261, for the 2017 race. This time around, she was accompanied by 125 runners raising money for her charity, 261 Fearless, which helps empower women and girls through running. After she crossed the finish line, the Boston Athletic Association retired her bib number.

Having fought sexism when she ran Boston the first time, she said she already knows the next boundary she has to break through: ageism.

“People are saying about old people in sports what they used to say about women — 'You shouldn’t push yourself, you’re too weak, you’re too fragile, you might break, don’t push it,’” Switzer said. “I don’t think there’s any limit for aging, and I think this is the next new frontier.”

Kenyan policewoman Edna Kiplagat wins Boston Marathon in unofficial time of 2 hours, 21 minutes, 53 seconds

After finishing the race, she said, she wanted a “cup of coffee and a piece of chocolate.” She plans to celebrate with a Boston-brewed draft beer over dinner with her husband and friends tonight. She said she has no intention of making this her last marathon: She hopes to compete in the New York Marathon in the future.

Her goal is for her story to inspire women of all ages to be active, strong and confident in themselves, she said. For her, that strength was on display down to the smallest detail.

“I had a choice of what to wear today — capris or shorts. At 70, my legs are not gorgeous like they were when I was 28. And I said, 'I’m wearing the shorts,’” Switzer said. “I’ve got 70-year-old legs, and they deserve to look gnarly. But I don’t care, because I just want to run and run well.”

While You Were Sleeping

“You ever get bored, Cas?”  Dean asks one evening.  “While I’m sleeping, I mean.”

“Angels do not experience boredom, Dean,” Cas replies, not looking up from his novel – he’s taken quite a shine to literature these days, even if most of them are cheap romance novels with shirtless men on the covers.  “At least, not the way you do.”

At present, they’re lying in bed together, Dean in his favorite dead guy robe and Cas in his fuzzy bumble bee pajamas.

Dean had shown them to him as a joke, recalling offhandedly his former fascination with the insects.  That had been when he was crazy, however, and he’d incorrectly assumed Cas had gotten over his hobby as an amateur bee keeper.

Needless to say, he was wrong.

At present, Cas doesn’t seem to feel inclined to elaborate on the statement, and Dean doesn’t feel inclined to probe further.  Cas once stood for four hours on the same spot, after all – it makes sense that he wouldn’t balk at a few hours of quiet time.

“Alright, well why don’t you put Abs McAbington away for a bit,” he suggests, gesturing resentfully to the clothing-impaired gentleman on the over of Cas’s current novel, My Rich Vampire Sugar Daddy.  “Us mere mortals’ve gotta get some sleep around here.”

Cas cocks his head, squinting apprasingly at him.  “Are you...jealous, Dean?”

Dean scoffs, arms folding defensively.  “No.

“You needn’t worry, Dean:  the man is only a poorly retouched photo rendition,” Cas deadpans, patting his hand consolatorily.  “I could cover him up with a small rag if he upsets you, or perhaps use a sharpie to give him some more appropriate attire.”

Dean scowls.  It’s getting harder and harder to tell whether or not Cas is joking these days, though he swears he’s trolling him at least ninety percent of the time.

“Alright, smartass,” he huffs.  “Just turn out the light and let me get some sleep, will ya?”

Dean’s suspicions are confirmed as a faint smile tugs at Cas’s lips.  “Very well, Dean,” he says, as he does as he is bid.  The light  turns off with a pleasing click, enveloping Dean in soothing darkness.  “Goodnight,” he adds.  Though of course, he isn’t going to sleep.

He never does.

The next time the subject arises, it’s shortly after light’s out.

“You ever miss sleeping?”  Dean asks.

At present, Cas is lying snuggled up to Dean with his back to him – sometimes, he enjoys the comfort of being the “little spoon.”

“Perhaps I would have enjoyed it, under other circumstances,” he admits.  “But predominantly, the only time I spent sleeping was in homeless shelters and abandoned vehicles.  It was a lonely time for me, which I would vastly like to forget.”  He shakes his head, frowning.  “I do not miss it.”

“Well, don’t you at least miss dreaming?”  Dean asks, thinking about his favorite dreamland haunts, fishing by the peer of his favorite lake.  “I mean, even in the bad times, dreams can be nice.”

Cas shakes his head.  “Dreaming was also unpleasant,” he says candidly.  “I frequently had nightmares – of Naomi, of my dying brethren, of…of you telling me to leave.”  He pauses, swallowing wetly.  “Even my fondest dreams only served to remind me of how much I missed you.”

Dean says nothing, but he pulls him closer in his arms, nuzzling into the back of his neck.  “So sorry I hurt you, baby,” he murmurs, kissing him softly behind the shell of his ear.

“You know I forgive you, Dean.  You were only doing what you thought was best.”  Cas says this without hesitation, and Dean can tell he means it.

Dean sighs.  At first, he was relieved when Cas didn’t hold it against him, but he’d be lying if he said there weren’t times when he almost wished he would.  When he wished he’d get angry with him, snap at him just once, so the issue wouldn’t be left feeling so damn unresolved.

But he never does, and Dean is left waiting for a consequence that will apparently never come.  And consequently, neither will absolution.

Dean smiles wryly into the dark nest of hair.  Who knew unconditional love could be such a burden?

Weeks later, Dean blinks open his eyes to the rustle of paper.  It’s pitch dark in his bedroom, but the clock blinks 3:30 AM.

“…Cas?”

“Yes, Dean.”

“What’re you doin’?”

“I’m reading,” Cas replies simply, as though this were in any way normal behavior.  “Priests and Forbidden Passion.  It’s quite engaging, if occasionally blasphemous.”

Dean sits up, propping himself on his elbows.  “Ar you kiddin’ me, Cas?  It’s black as Satan’s asshole in here!”

“Satan’s asshole is not black, Dean,” Cas corrects him, calmly turning a page.  “And angels can see in the dark.”

Of course they could.

“…Well, is there any way you can stop for now?” he grumbles, rubbing his eyes blearily.  “It’s kinda distracting, and I need my four hours, so…”

Cas sighs.  “Certainly, Dean.”

Dean waits patiently as Cas sets the book on their bedside table and lies back down beside him.

“Cas?”

“Yes, Dean.”

“…What do you usually do while I’m sleeping?” he asks.  “When you’re not reading your religious smut, that is.”

“It’s erotic literature, Dean,” Cas corrects.

Dean snorts.  “Yeah.  If that’s what you call literature, so’s Busty Asian Beauties.”

It’s too dark to see, but he can feel Cas glower at him.  “…And to answer your question,”  he patiently continues. “Predominantly, I watch over you: I count your freckles, watch your eyes twitch beneath their lids.  Listen to you as you talk in your sleep.”

“Oh, shut your face,”  Dean scoffs.  “I don’t talk in my sleep, man.”

“I can assure you, you do,” says Cas gravely.  “It’s quite entertaining, at times:  I never knew you felt so passionately about protecting rabbits.”

Dean opens his mouth to protest, but Cas continues, “Moreover, I protect you:  I keep the nightmares from your mind, give you pleasant dreams when needed.  Keep your mind and soul safe while your body is resting, and protect all facets of you from harm.  I watch over you,” he reiterates.

Dean blinks.  He had noticed that his nightmares had severely decreased over the past year or so, but he’d never noticed the correlation between the start of his and Cas’s relationship and the time they stopped.  God, he was an idiot.

“You, uh…sure I’m worth all that trouble, Cas?”  he chuckles, though he’s only half joking.

He can’t see, but he can feel Cas’s eyes on him, the adoration of his gaze almost palpable.  “You always are.”

Dean smiles softly to himself.  Staring into the blackened room, it occurs to him how much he used to be afraid of the dark:  after hell, it took him years to fall asleep comfortably without the lights on.  Or else, a good amount of alcohol.

Now, he always knows he’s safe with his angel next to him.

He wishes he could convey to Cas how grateful he is to have him there, how much his presence has influenced his life.  But then, communication never was his strong suit.

Instead, he reaches out, feeling around for Cas’s hand and intertwining his fingers in his own.  He smiles, feeling utterly content as he lets his eyes flutter closed.

“Goodnight, angel,” he murmurs.

“Goodnight, Dean.”

(this is my first masterpost sorry if it’s bad) A bullet journal has a lot of uses. A planner, homework reminders, to-do lists- but understandably, some pages could use a little of inspiration. And what better inspiration than from artists? Even without a bullet journal, quotes can be a great thing to decorate journals, your room, etcetera. So, I’ve compiled a list of quotes (some aren’t very motivational) by some of your favorite artists!
