Ruby hates the idea of going to Harry’s wedding. She hates the idea of dressing up and seeing friends she hasn’t spoken to in years, acting like they still have things in common.
Niall is the “friend” on the top of Ruby’s hope I never see again list. Or, well, that is until she sees him for the first time in six years and his laugh is possibly less torturous than it was when they were cramped together in the lunch room of their high school.
A reunion fic including the perfect ex boyfriend, his annoying best friend, and a steady flow of alcohol.
In 24 hours I’ve encountered two very scary dog experiences. 😥 Including a big fight at the dog park this afternoon (Warwick wasn’t involved, thank god) but ugh. My heart. The dog was injured but she’s okay. I don’t know what I’d do if something happened to this little loaf.
That being said, you can expect a dog-related design coming to the shop later this summer. It’s in the works and I’m really excited about it. All you dog parents, be ready. 😘🐶 This ones specifically for you.
Terrible day anon, and that is extremely generous... I know creativity isn't a faucet. But if some Hansy lightening bolt struck you, I could not would not complain.
The thing Harry hated most about Pansy Parkinson was the way she pushed her hair back when she was reading. She’d been coming into the same coffee shop he liked for three weeks, always ordering the same thing, always sitting in the broken down green arm chair by the window with the spider plant. She’d kick her shoes off, tuck one foot under her, and read her book for an hour, then leave. And the whole time she shoved her hair back behind one ear only to have it fall forward again. She’d do it over and over again for the whole hour and he kept seeing the motion out of the corner of his eye and it distracted him.
He was supposed to be reviewing a long series of dull regulations. There were rules for Aurors - so many rules - and most of them hadn’t been updated since 1479. In 1479 some poor sucker had been asked to review them all, and had.
Apparently it was his turn to be the sucker.
He hated it.
He didn’t like fighting dark wizards. The idea had seemed noble when he’d been fifteen but now he thought he might have changed his mind and being asked to read through pages and pages of this garbage and make suggestions for changes wasn’t making the job any more appealing. He’d taken to abandoning the Ministry offices to work here where the coffee was better because there was no way any human being could read through this stuff without coffee. He’d asked Hermione for help and she’d laughed at him - actually laughed - and told him no friendship was great enough to take that on.
And he’d been doing fine until Pansy had starting appearing. Every little shove of her hair distracted him, and then he’d realize he’d been staring at her cute nose and her perfect lips and her smart little skirts for ten minutes and he’d force his eyes back to the parchment in front of him.
Then she’d push that hair back again.
He finally couldn’t stand it and on a Monday at 2:37 in the afternoon he shoved his hand in her face with the elastic hair tie he’d taken from the table where Hermione had left it when she’d gone up to Ron’s room the night before. “If you tied that mess back you’d stop having to play with it,” he said.
She looked slowly up from her book and met his eyes for so long he began to squirm under that gaze. “Potter,” she said at last. She plucked the elastic from his fingers, placed it between the pages of her book, and closed the cover with a snap. “What’s it to you?”
“You’re bothering me,” he said, realizing how stupid that sounded as soon as the words left his lips.
“So?” she asked.
He had to bluster on now. He’d trapped himself. “I have to read this,” he said. He had the day’s pages in his other hand. They were confidential. He couldn’t just go about leaving them on coffee shop tables. “I can’t focus with you around.”
She shrugged. “So stay in your office,” she said.
“I hate my office.” Sometimes you only hear the truth when you say it out loud, and all the ways he’s resented this work, and all the ways being an Auror was a letdown, and all the ways he didn’t want to ever have to fight a Dark wizard again crystalized in that one sentence and he sank down into the hard, wooden chair directly opposite her and said again, “I hate it.”
The spider plant brushed against his cheek and he batted it away with annoyance. Pansy reached over and took the pages out of his hand and skimmed them. “You read through this on purpose?” she asked.
“It’s my job,” he said helplessly.
“So quit,” she said. “You’re rich aren’t you?”
Harry nodded, though he still felt poor. He still felt like the kid wearing ill-fitting hand-me-downs and he suspected he always would. Her face softened for a moment and he wondered bitterly which of the ‘Poor Harry’ unauthorized biographies she’d read. They ranged from sentimental to salacious and none of them did more than flirt with the truth but most liked to dwell on the horrific Muggle parenting he’d endured. Abuse sold.
She slipped her book down into her bag, put her foot back into her shoe, and stood up. “Good,” she said. “Since you’re rich you can afford to take me to dinner.”
“It’s the middle of the afternoon,” Harry said. “I have to go back to - “
“Ugh,” she said. “You do not. Are you taking me on a date or not?”
Harry decided he was. He most emphatically was. And he did. The Ministry sent three owls demanding the classified and confidential files back and one Howler denouncing him for quitting after they’d made a special accommodation for a man with no N.E.W.T.s Pansy sent one back.
He watched her write it.
She kept shoving her hair back behind one ear and he thought how much he loved that absent-minded gesture.
Text from bestie: Hey! Tour’s actually gone longer than expected but I got mum to drop off an apartment key so the place is all yours for a few days…
Unbelievable. You came all the way to Edinburgh from (y/hometown) to see you friend dancing in a local company. This is fine. you said to yourself walking down the street. At least you finally get to meet this boyfriend of his when he gets back. You dropped your things off at the apartment and decided to hit the town, the day was young after all.
You grumbled as you walked down the street when you crashed on the cobbled streets, leaflets suddenly flying everywhere.
“Oh my god I’m so sorry!” You apologized to the tall figure you collided with as you picked up the falling papers
“No worries, here take one” Your eyes met hazel as you were handed a leaflet. Damn. You thought as you took in the boy in front of you. He was a tall boy with brown hair and the cutest freckles you’d ever seen, he wore a hoodie and jeans and stood with another boy with a camera.
“So what’s Eclipsed?” you asked, suddenly very interested.
“My dad’s a comedian, he’s doing a show for Fringe at the voodoo rooms” The boy smiled at you as he pointed down the street and you wanted the attention of tall dark and handsome so badly now.
“I like to laugh.” You said with a smirk.
“Then you should definitely check it out.” He continued to smile
“That depends, are you going to be there” You replied slyly
“Only if you are, darling.” Two could play at this game.
“Well stranger give me your phone” He raised his eyebrow as he obeyed. You punched your number into the phone and texted yourself a wink emoji.
“My name’s Sam by the way!” he called as you began to walk away
“(y/n)” you replied “Text me where to find you, I’ll see you tonight.” you said over your shoulder as you continued down the street.
You spent an hour agonizing over what to wear that night, you settled on a wool trench style coat over black jeans and a floral shirt with your favorite heeled boots. As you finished your makeup you heard your phone ping
Text from Sam: Meet me at the bar darling ;)
When you enter the venue you see Sam waiting for you; dark jeans, white shirt with a bomber jacket sitting patiently with a beer in his hand. Ugh he looks even better than this afternoon… You ordered your drink and the two of you started to chat. You leaned in with interest as he spoke of his dreams of being an actor, his wonderful and large family, his sweet dog and everything in between. Likewise, he couldn’t take his eyes off you as you spoke about your dreams for your career, your little sister and the amazing friend that had brought you to Edinburgh. You continued to laugh and joke with Sam till the lights dimmed and the show started. The show was amazing, it had the entire crowd in stitches but you were too distracted by the Holland in front of you to focus on the one on stage.
“So, want to go backstage and meet the legend himself?” Sam asked you as the show ended
“It’s a little soon the meet the family don’t you think?” You joked
“You’re worth it, love” He replied with a wink as he took your hand and led you back. As you entered the backstage area you were halted by a large crowd. You pulled Sam back towards the door.
“I’d hate to get in the way of the adoring fans, I’m sure I’ll get to meet him some other time.” You let go of his hand as you slipped out the way you came.
“At least let me show you around town” Sam insisted, not wanting to let you go yet. You complied as he took your hand again, leading you down the busy street. You marveled at the traditional architecture and charismatic street performers as you strolled hand in hand. He bought you hot chocolate as you wished you’d forgotten a jacket to get his green one resting on your shoulders. His arm made it’s way around your waist as he walked you back to the apartment and you invited him upstairs.
Once the door closed lips found lips, his hands found a home on your body, one resting on your hip and the other was on your back pulling you closer into him as if your bodies would meld together if only he could get close enough. You had an arm slung around his neck with a hand in his hair while the other was grasping his shoulder with the same goal as his. The two of you stumbled through the apartment towards your room.
Another door shut, another set of kisses, another desperate cry for each other. You kissed his jawline and his neck, resting your lips there when you started to tug at each other’s clothes. Everything but the bare essentials were off when you snapped out of the intoxication that was Sam Holland.
“What is it, love?”
“We’re drunk we can’t…”
“Right, I’ll.. um.. I’ll go” You grabbed his arm, your grasp firm
“I didn’t say you had to leave, stay a while?”
“For you? Anything.” You pulled him down and under the covers, his arms wrapped around you as you were nuzzled into the crook of his neck. “By the way” he mumbled “Welcome to Edinburgh”
A/N: I hope this isn’t completely horrible. Warning: Gross cold stuff but nothing too bad. It’s one little line.
True to his word, you received a text from Luke later that afternoon.
Just checking on my patient. Feeling any better?
That chicken soup was delicious. I am feeling a little better, still coughing though. 😷 Thanks again, Luke!
You’re welcome, Y/N. Let me know if I can do anything else for you. Now I’m going to let you rest.
You smiled and put your phone back on the table. You couldn’t believe how sweet your neighbor was. Not only did he go get the medicine you, a complete stranger, had asked for, but he also brought you soup. You had to think of a way to repay him once you were feeling better. Hopefully that would be in the next few days. You had been sick for three days now and enough was enough. You decided to try to clean up a bit since you were feeling a little better. You took your dirty dishes into the kitchen and washed them, leaving them to dry. You went back to the living room and picked up all the trash you’d accumulated while sick.
You couldn’t believe just that little bit made you tired, but it did. You decided to take a nice bath then head to bed. Maybe tomorrow you’d feel better.
Thank goodness you worked from home. Somehow the next day you just felt drained. Oh and there that cough is, still persistent as ever. You guessed another day of rest was in store for you. Maybe you could rest this morning and in the afternoon you’d actually feel like doing some work. You were an online proofreader. It may sound boring, but you actually loved it. You’ve always been one to nitpick everything you read. You once read a book that had so many grammatical errors, you weren’t sure how you ever finished it. You were ready to get a pen and start correcting the book. Your job paid well enough, and you didn’t have to venture out into the world everyday.
You lay in bed a little longer, then decided to get up and get some breakfast. Oatmeal sounded pretty good right now. Your throat was sore from all of the coughing, and oatmeal would hopefully soothe it. Maybe some hot tea with honey would be good too. You chuckled remembering the time you had a cough as a teenager, and your father gave you honey mixed with whiskey. Hell, if this cough didn’t go away soon, you might try that no matter how horrible you remember it tasting.
You had just settled onto the couch with your breakfast when your phone dinged.
How is my patient this morning?
Smiling, you replied:
A little better. Going to take it easy this morning, then maybe work some this afternoon. If this cough would just go away. Ugh!
Sorry you’re still coughing. Take it easy. Don’t try to do too much too soon. I’m at work, but let me know if I can bring you anything later.
Oh my gosh. Was this man for real? What a sweetie!
Thanks Dr. Luke. I promise to rest. Have a good day at work.
Luke chuckled and shook his head at Y/N last text, catching the attention of his teammate, the real doctor around here.
“What’s so funny, Luke?” Spencer asked, glancing at his friend.
“Oh, nothing. Just a text from my neighbor. She’s sick, and I was just checking on her. She’s got a cough that won’t go away. Any suggestions?”
Reid raised his eyebrows, then replied, “Well, if she doesn’t have a humidifier, you might suggest one to her. A humidifier moisturizes the air, which helps keep your mouth and throat moist and less irritated. It can also help loosen secretions in your throat and lungs, so they are easier to cough up.”
Luke wrinkled his nose at that last bit but said, “Thanks, brother. Maybe I’ll stop on the way home after work and get her one. I don’t think she has one. I didn’t notice one yesterday.”
Reid raised his eyebrows again but didn’t say anything just nodded. He glanced over to see JJ looking interested in the conversation as well. She raised her eyebrows at Spencer then went back to work.
Other than still coughing, you were actually feeling better that afternoon so you decided to do some work. You were sitting on the couch with your laptop, glasses perched on your nose, when you heard a knock at the door. You couldn’t help hoping it was your neighbor.
Sure enough when you opened the door, there Luke stood, with a box under his arm. He grinned and said, “How’s the patient? I brought you something I hope will help you.”
You smiled back and waved him into your apartment. “You know, you barely know me, Luke. You shouldn’t be spending your money on me.”
“Seriously, Y/N, it’s nothing. I was telling a friend at work about your cough, and he suggested one of these. It’s a humidifier, and I will not make you hear the reasons exactly as he said, just know it should help your cough,” he said with another one of those beautiful smiles.
You laughed, then coughed, and took the box from him. “Thanks, Luke. You are like my guardian angel. Do you want to come in for a minute? Help me figure this thing out?”
He nodded and followed you into the kitchen. Together you figured it out, it wasn’t rocket science after all. You got the humidifier going and asked if Luke wanted to order some takeout with you. He said he needed to take care of Roxy but maybe some other time. You were disappointed but understood. You had owned a pet before; they need their special time with their owner. You wished him a good evening and showed him out the door.
Later that evening, your phone dinged. You smiled seeing it was from Luke.
Sorry I didn’t stay for dinner. We will definitely have to get together later this week.
No problem. Give Roxy a hug from me and thank her for letting me borrow you. 😊
So I woke up from a nap and thought of some scribbling. Just now getting to posting it. Kind of did a similar thing with a few little short one-shots I made a while back but oh well. Now we have SonAmy :D
There was a strange glow to the small hedgehog hut. The late afternoon sun was dripping in through the half-closed drapes and the open window pushed open those drapes even further with a soothing ocean breeze. Flickies in the nearby trees were singing happily and the waves crashed in the background.
Rusty eyes creaked open as the natural air infiltrated the lungs. The blue blur gazed through still hazy eyes as he slowly stirred out of slumber. He looked down next to him to see his lovely pink hedgehog still sleeping. Her head poised on his shoulder and her left hand resting on his slowly rising and sinking chest, a slight grip on his light chest fluff. He gave a snug pull to draw her in closer. Her left ear gave out a quick few twitches.
It hadn’t been long since he and Amy started going out and for only a few times now they found themselves sharing a hammock for a quick afternoon snooze. Sonic’s eyes were beginning to clear as he let out the most obnoxious yawn. His mouth snapped shut and for a moment another familiar scent was drawn into his nostrils, mixed in with the natural air of the island. There was no description for it other than a three-lettered name but it was one of the sweetest scents in the world. He let out a smile and took a deep inhale to breathe it in.
Suddenly, a small few beep resonated from his wrist. He looked down for a moment, then let it limply fall to dangle off the side of the hammock. He didn’t want to get up. He used his left arm that was wrapped around the still sleeping hedgehog and gave her a gentle shake.
“Amy….” He whispered. “Hey, Amy….” His shaking only slightly intensified just enough to arouse her. “Amy, wake up.” Her eyes blinked a few times before remaining at a constant squint. Slowly she began to move. She let out a small groan as she began to rub her eyes to ease the waking process. Sonic kept his eyes trained on her and couldn’t believe how cute she was through the whole thing. “It’s time to go. We’re meeting everyone at Meh Burger remember?”
“Yeah, I remember.” She said a bit drowsy. She rolled to the side, giving Sonic a bit more freedom, and the two slowly fell out of the hammock onto their feet. She raised her hand up to her mouth and yawned. “Alright.” She said as she looked at him and smiled. He returned with the same smile. “Let’s get going.”
It was late in the evening when I got a text from my classmate Jimin. He was an odd one id have to say but maybe it was because we had just started talking to each other. I’m sure he’ll open up soon but I’ll admit he is gorgeous and I may have thought of him pressing me against the wall a few times during class and don’t even get me started with his music.
Of course! Thank you for this I fell in love with this ship as I wrote they;re so cute im dying
Blake sometimes marveled at the way Ruby’s body fit with hers. Like right now, as they cuddled on the couch, Ruby’s head resting perfectly against Blake’s chest, nestled against her like the two of them were pieces of a puzzle, two halves of a whole.
They were doing nothing in particular- Ruby was paging through some weapons blog or other on her scroll, while Blake read her book. To outsiders it probably seemed simple and unromantic- boring, even- but it was one of Blake’s favourite ways of spending time with Ruby. Not doing anything, not trying to impress her or sweep her off her feet, just being together. Reading a book on a sunny morning while Ruby did her own thing beside her.
Unfortunately, Blake’s feeling of contentment was squashed when she made the mistake of glancing up at the clock on the wall. Ugh. Morning had given way to afternoon far too quickly, and Ruby had a staff meeting in less than an hour. “Rubes,” she mumbled reluctantly, “you have to get going.”
Ruby made a sound of acknowledgement that might have been assent or complaint. She didn’t look away from her scroll.
Blake sighed. She didn’t want Ruby to miss her meeting, as dull and pointless as it might have been. But she most definitely did not want to move. “You’re going to be late if we don’t get up,” she said, making no attempts to get off the couch.
Ruby groaned, setting down her scroll. “You know, I could just not go.”
Blake considered. It had been far too long since both she and Ruby had gotten a day off, and Ruby had been away so much lately with her work. But… “What would you do about your meeting? It doesn’t seem fair to just stand them up. I don’t want you getting in trouble.” As much as she hated to disagree with Ruby’s truly wonderful idea, it had to be done.
Ruby shrugged, picking up her scroll. “I’ll call in and tell them that I have worked a stupid number of hours this week and my entire body hurts and if they make me go sit in a stupid meeting for four hours instead of being at home with my loving girlfriend I will use Crescent Rose on them.”
What Ruby actually said on the phone was that she was recovering from injuries from overseeing a student mission. By the time she hung up, she was grinning triumphantly. “There. No boring meetings for me today!”
Blake rolled her eyes, but she couldn’t suppress a smile. She knew Ruby couldn’t- and wouldn’t- make this a regular thing, and who was she to complain about a few extra hours with her favourite person?
Ruby placed a quick kiss on Blake’s nose.‘“What were we doing again?”
“Pretty much nothing.”
“Perfect.” Ruby settled back onto the couch, slotting into place against the curve of Blake’s body.
Okay. It has been 6 freaking months since I last posted a fic. I have lots, but I never finish them. Like this is a serious issue ya know? And school literally wants me dead. BUT! PROMPTS ARE STILL OPEN!Love you all!
By the way, credits to the beta @moonontheluna! She was amazing on beta-ing the fic!
I woke up to the sound of some music playing loudly, only for someone to lower to a quieter volume. Was Dan awake? I opened my eyes to squint at the bright light of Dan’s computer from the desk. Dan was coughing while typing something on the computer.
“Dan?” I mumbled sleepily.
“Hey babe,” he turned around.
“Dan, what are you doing?” I asked.
“It’s a surprise. Happy Anniversary.” He yawned and rubbed his eyes.
“Come to bed Dan.”
“Mmmno I have to finish this,” he said before coughing and sniffling.
“Are you ill? You’ve been coughing a lot lately.”
“You need to come to bed now.”
“But Phil, I need to finish this,” Dan whined.
I got up slowly and hugged him from behind.
“Babe, you can finish that tomorrow. It’s….. 5 am,” I said, checking the clock.
“Can I at least bring my computer to bed?”
“Only for a few minutes.”
Dan grabbed his laptop and carried it with him to bed. I sat next to him and he continued his working (which he didn’t let me see). I grabbed my phone to keep myself occupied.
I answered a few messages and checked my Twitter, and when I turned, I found Dan fast asleep against the head of the bed, his head moved to the side.
He looked so cute that I wanted to take a picture of him. I needed to have him laying more comfortably in order to avoid back pain, but I didn’t want him to wake up. I grabbed some blankets and placed them on him. Rubbing his back, I shifted the pillow under his head and moved the computer to the floor.
“Happy anniversary bear,” I said with a grin.
I woke up to a pounding headache and a stuffed nose.
“Phiiiil,” I mumbled. He must have covered me with a blanket since I felt warm, almost unbearably, and it appeared to be noon as the sun was shining brightly through the windows.
“Good morning bear! Happy phanniversary!” Phil greeted with gentle kisses all over my face.
“Phil, I’m sick!” I chuckled.
“Doesn’t matter. You’re finally up.”
“Wha-” I paused to yawn. “What time is it?”
“Two in the afternoon.”
“Ugh,” I groaned and pushed myself up, trying to get into a sitting position, but ended up falling back down to the bed.
“Oh bear,” he sighed. “What were you trying to do?”
“I was going to get up and make us pancakes.”
“I already ate. Plus, I made you cupcakes!”
“Thank you, but I’m not hungry.”
“I understand. So how are you-”
I interrupted Phil with a coughing fit the groaned. “It was better when I was asleep.”
“It wasn’t because I missed you,” he pouted.
“Aww Phil,” I said, then yawned.
“I think you need to sleep a bit more” he said while rubbing my aching chest.
“I want to, but we should to go to Manchester. We’ve done it every year.”
“Dan, you’re ill, we can’t go today.”
“No buts. We can have a lazy day and I’ll cuddle you all day until you’re better,” he said with a grin.
I sighed, giving in. “Thank you. I love you”
“I love you more.”
After making some lunch and helping Dan take some medicine, I ran out to the market to get tissues and more cold medicine. When I came back, I found a sleepy Dan scrolling through Tumblr.
“Hey, wanna cuddle and watch movies?”
“Huh?” he mumbled, his eyes drooping.
“Wanna watch movies and cuddle?”
“Yeah” he said, breaking off to cough.
“Do you want to watch movies in our bedroom?”
“I think I’d rather stay here.”
I nodded, heading back to our room to grab some supplies. I brought the duvet and I placed it over him while he rubbed his eyes.
We decided to watch Free! Eternal Summer, but I knew that Dan was going to fall asleep at any time.
“Dan, if you want to sleep that’s okay.”
“I’m fine, just a bit drowsy”
I gave him a kiss on his forehead, not completely believing him, and he yawned. He gently placing his head on my shoulder.
“Wanna open your gift?” I asked suddenly with a grin.
“Gift?” He smiled excitedly, looking slightly more awake.
“Here,” I turned and grabbed the box that I had on the floor.
“Aww, thanks babe!” Dan hugged me. He opened the box and took the gift out. It was a pooh bear onesie and a Piglet plush with some Pooh dvds.
He was so excited that he decided to put his onesie on, which was a bit small for him. He got back in the couch and yawned, more tired than excited now.
We continued watching the show, Dan’s eyes almost completely shut at this point.
“Dan, go to sleep”
“I’m fine Phil. Plus, I want to enjoy my anniversary with you,” he mumbled, placing his head on my shoulder.
I couldn’t tell exactly when his breathing slowed down enough to
promise unconsciousness, but at some point I tried whispering his name to see if he was awake
Nothing. No response. Dan’s head turns a little to the side, but his lips don’t twitch and his eyes stay closed.
“I love you spork” I smiled as I brushed his hair with my fingers, him finally sleeping peacefully.
