in response to your question: yes it is

AU where the Justice League forms like usual, except Batman maintained his “totally a myth” status and has in fact been active for years before the JL forms. He’s very cautious about trusting them, but still joins, and the others sort of accepts that as long as they trust that Batman has a really hard time with trust, it will all work out in its own weird way

Then, one day, in the middle of a JL mission, the League gets in a tight spot. Out of nowhere, this blue and black blur swoops in and saves everyone’s ass. Maybe breaking some shackles that were proving very difficult, maybe disarm a bomb that the League was just a hair’s breadth too slow to reach without help, but whatever happens, the shadowy figure pauses just long enough to say, “Hey, Batman, you know you there are these things called cellphones now and you can just call sometimes, it doesn’t have to be this dramatic?” and bounds away after shouting ‘let’s do brunch! Bring your new friends!’

Batman is mortified.

No one lets it go.

The entire rest of the mission, the whole League is asking so many questions. Who was that? Do you know him? How do you know him? What’s going on? I didn’t know there was a vigilante in this area?? They don’t let up until he talks.

“That was Nightwing.” Batman is mumbling. The JL forces him to bring them to the Brunch. Brunch happens to be in a run-down apartment on the edge of a bad neighborhood, at five in the morning, in costume. Nightwing introduces himself as Batman’s lovechild with justice.

“I did not realize Batman had a child,” Martian Manhunter says, calmly enough that no one’s sure if he’s accidentally plucking a really loud thought out of the air or if he’s trying to make a joke.

Nightwing stares for a moment falling over laughing. He doesn’t get up. Batman starts trying to apply anti-Joker venom but Nightwing just kicks him and laughs until he cries. He keeps trying to wipe his eyes and his mask keeps getting in the way, so he asks everyone to leave so he can please get a hold of himself

He is still laughing when they leave. Everyone is confused. Batman is furious.  Nightwing manages to breathe long enough to say, “We’re just so glad you’re socializing now, Batman.”

Superman turns to look at Batman very slowly. “…’we’?”

Pendulum 101

Alright, pals! Time to learn all about pendulum divination!

Strengths:
-Pendulums are best known for their ability to give quick yes/no answers! -Pendulums are don’t cost a lot of money and are easy to make.
-Pendulums are very easy to pick up and learn quickly… no extensive training needed!

Weaknesses:
-Pendulums require a steady hand, which some people struggle with.
-Pendulums don’t provide in-depth information, just surface-level answers.

How To Do It:
-First, set up a pendulum board. This can be a set board or cloth, or you can scribble it down on an index card. It’s traditionally two perpendicular lines, one for yes and one for no. Other things can be added as well! (Many people include a “Maybe,” “Rephrase the question,” add a circle of numbers or letters, even zodiac signs!)
-Grab your pendulum and “set” it to the board. (I usually do this by tapping each point on the board with the pendulum and saying, “yes, no, one, two,” whatever is appropriate.
-Give it a test run before asking the big questions. Ask it questions you already know, to make sure there isn’t anything interfering with the pendulum. Try to ask at least one yes and one no question!
-Ask your question out loud. Then wait. Eventually the pendulum will start swinging towards your answer!

How It Works:
There are a few different schools of thought, here. Some say your Higher Self guides the pendulum, others say that spirits do. Some say the pendulum itself has a consciousness! Other people attribute its movements to the ideomotor effect. Many skeptics will try to discredit it this way. My personal response? So what if it uses the effect? We all know your subconscious is wayyy smarter than your conscious, so you probably know the answer to your question deep in your gut, somewhere and just need to bring it to the surface. This idea only increases the validity of pendulum divination, in my eyes.

Tips:
-You don’t need a fancy crystal pendulum. Any weighted object on a string will do! This includes necklaces, keys on lanyards, a needle and thread, you get the idea.
-Pendulums are best used indoors in areas without drafts. These air movements could interfere with your reading!
-I find it better to weigh my yes/no questions as a positive affirmation. For example, “Jenny likes me.” The yes/no response here would be very clear, where as “Jenny doesn’t like me” raises questions. Is a “No” because the statement is incorrect, or no because she doesn’t like you? Affirmations also give you the added help of gut feeling. If you say, “Jenny likes me,” and your gut feeling makes it feel like a lie, that’s important information. (Remember your subconscious is smart!)
- If your pendulum is acting weird, try giving it a good cleanse! Sometimes they pick up “gunk” from extended use and get bogged down.
-Pendulums are very useful for contacting spirits! If you hold your pendulum still and call for a spirit, they can signal their presence by moving it. I prefer this over tarot because tarot always guarantees a response, whether a spirit is there or not. Pendulum, meanwhile, is better for confirming your answers are genuine.

So some of y’all don’t seem to understand how runes work...
  • This is not fortune telling. The runes cannot predict the future, they only tell you the present. Meanings are not absolute and may only be picking up on part of the present and the outcome if you continue present activities.
  • They try to help you understand the present situation and give suggestions as to what your next course of action could be. These suggestions are not absolute.
  • This is an evaluation process. Runes help your subconscious work out a problem, it is a very psychological process. Again, it is not fortune telling.
  • Each rune has multiple interpretations. It is your responsibility to explore each of these.
  • You will not always like what the runes suggest but that is not the fault of the rune caster.
  • Runes are for advice. They cannot tell you anything with absolute certainty.
  • Ask yes or no questions and 90% of the time you will get a big fat  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • The future is not fixed. What may have been true when you received your reading may not be true now. This could be because you did not do what the runes suggested.
  • The concepts explained in the runes are archaic. Understand that what was once true may not cleanly translate to the modern day.
  • Your future is up to you. All I can do as a reader is examine possible cause and effects of an action upon your future.

IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BE EDUCATED ON HOW THE RUNES WORK BEFORE REQUESTING A READING FROM A RUNE CASTER.

Beginner's Guide to Pendulums

⛤Okay, so I have been wanting to put out a post about pendulums based on how I was taught to use them by my aunt, a long-time pendulum diviner and dowser. This post is based solely on our traditions and beliefs. I am NOT telling anyone that this is the one and only way to work with pendulums. Please do what works for you. If these methods suit you, fantastic! If not, it’s okay. Alright, buckle your seat belts ‘cause here we go.

⛤So, you want to use a pendulum. Cool! First you have to get one. There are several ways to obtain a pendulum. You can buy one from a specialty shop (many new age and crystal shops sell them). You can buy one online from places like Etsy, Ebay, and other places. You can even make one. All you need is a string or chain and something to hang from it. It can be as simple as a needle stuck in a cork hanging from some thread (as my great grandmother did). You can also use a piece of jewelry, such as a necklace or a lanyard as a pendulum. Find, make or buy one that is suitable for you.

⛤Now that you have a pendulum, it’s time to clear/charge it. A very important step when using a pendulum is to cleanse it, especially if you bought one. A pendulum in a store, even an online store, has been touched by many people. People have probably touched it to look at it, shop employees have probably touched it when they were putting out to be bought. The seller from an online shop has certainly touched it. All of these people touching the pendulum that you just bought have left residual energies on it. These energies can affect the accuracy of the pendulum. So, you have to cleanse it. I recommend you cleanse your pendulum the same way you do any of your magickal tools. If it’s made from a crystal, you can cleanse it the same way you cleanse your crystals. If you don’t know how to cleanse your pendulum, I was taught to start with a prayer/incantation/chant. Write one that explains your intention just like you would to write a spell. Be specific in your writing. If you want to work with your spirit guides, say that. If you want to work with your higher self, say that. Be specific in the kind of spirits you want to work with. Do you want to work with ancestors? Spirit animals? Etc. If you want to work spirits aligned with light, be specific on the type of light. Anyway, after you have your prayer/incantation/chant written down, you can begin to cleanse your pendulum. The cleansing ritual/ceremony/process can be a elaborate as you deem fit. When I cleansed mine, I didn’t go very elaborate, but if you need to go for it. There are several ways you can use to cleanse your pendulum. 1st, smoke cleansing. Just as you would use sage to cleanse a room, you can use it to cleanse your pendulum. Light a bundle of dried sage, or sage incense. Pass your pendulum through the smoke and say your prayer/incantation/chant. Do this for as long as you think is necessary. 2nd, visualization. Hold your pendulum in your hand and visualize it being surrounded by a brilliant white light. Focus on the residual energies being driven away and cleansed from your pendulum. Say your prayer/incantation/chant while you do your visualization. I used this method to cleanse my pendulum. I visualized putting the pendulum in a stream of white light and letting the light flow over it like water, cleansing away the residual energies. 3rd, if your pendulum is made of crystal, any crystal cleansing techniques will work to cleanse it (i.e. burying it, putting it in running water, burying in salt, putting it with cleansing crystals, such as clear quartz and selenite, etc.). If you made your pendulum, you might not have to worry so much about cleansing and charging it because you made it and it’s already aligned with your energy. However, if you bought your pendulum, after you have cleansed it you need to charge it with your energy. You can do this by carrying it around with you in your pocket and asking small, mundane questions. (I’ll explain this more later)

⛤Now you have a cleansed and charged pendulum. What’s next? Well, you need to program it. By programming, I mean you need to establish how your pendulum will work for you. This includes deciding how you want your pendulum to move based on certain responses to your questions. Now, I have seen many posts and read several books that say that you are supposed to ask the pendulum to show you how it will move for yes, no, maybe, I don’t know, etc. I was taught that you shouldn’t do this because it opens you up for potentially dangerous situations and it sets the precedent that the pendulum or the spirits communicating through the pendulum are in control. I was taught that this is potentially dangerous. I was also taught that this is your experience on this plane of existence. Because of that, you should be in control and do what you are comfortable with. The pendulum is a tool and the spirits communicating through it are guides that can only offer advice. Anyway, you should be the one who decides how the pendulum will move according to the different responses. My pendulum moves in a clockwise circle for “yes”, a counter-clockwise circle for “no”, back and forward for “maybe”, side to side for “I don’t know”, and it stays still for “please rephrase the question.” You can program your pendulum however makes you feel comfortable and however you will remember the meaning of the movements best. After all, what’s the point in asking a question if you can’t understand the answer?

Going back to charging the pendulum. Programming it actually goes into charging it. The more you use your pendulum, the more it becomes aligned to your energy. When you first start using your pendulum, begin by asking it mundane questions. Start with things that don’t have a significant impact on your life, such as what should a I eat for dessert, what color shoes should I wear, should I buy this thing. Simple stuff like that gets you used to your pendulum and it helps you remember your programming for it better. It also helps your pendulum become aligned with your energy and makes the responses more accurate.

⛤Using a pendulum is a great way to get advice on decisions you’re indecisive about. It’s also a wonderful tool for communicating with your spirit guides and companions.

⛥As you get more accustomed to using your pendulum, you can do other things with it. You can create charts to help you get more in depth information. For example, you can make a time table to help organize your tasks for the day. You can make a list of activities to do and when you are bored or don’t know what to do next, ask your pendulum. My aunt did this a lot with her kids. They would want to go outside to play and she would want them to do homework. She would dowse (ask her pendulum) on it and whatever the pendulum said is usually* what they did. Additionally, you can use your pendulum for spirit work. You can make a letter board (like a ouija board) and communicate with spirits. You can also use pendulum for Reiki work, using it to find blockages in the chakras. The list goes on and on.

I put an * next to “usually” in my little anecdote because as I said earlier, this is your experience on this plane of existence. Your pendulum and the spirits communicating through it can only offer advice. You have the ability to either listen to what your pendulum advises or not. That being said, in my experience the pendulum is usually right.

⛤Anyway, I know that was a super long winded post about pendulums. I hope you find the information useful. If using pendulums is something you want to do, go for it! I absolutely LOVE mine and I am so happy I had someone in my life who could teach me about them!

Thank you and blessed be,

Anne Sage 🌻🌼

⛤Also: a good exercise to do with pendulums is to have two, one in each hand, and see if you can get them both to move in harmony with each other. This will show any weak energy flow in your body. It’s a good way to help build up that flow and make it stronger. I, personally, have to work on this with my right hand because it is significantly weaker than my left.

Also, warning. I started out thinking this would be cute and fluffy. It kind of turned a little angsty.

“…What? This is a joke, right?”

You stared at Ben, trying to mask your horror with denial.

Ben – for his part – looked sheepish. “We need to mend ties with the Isle, and compromise is the best way to do that.”

“So, if Uma asked you to release Chernabog from the Isle, you’d be totally for it?”

“No, of course not–”

You rolled your eyes. “No, of course. Just the guy that tried. To. Kill. You.”

“Things are different. Uma and Harry don’t have any power in Auradon, and it’s not like I’m totally defenceless,” Ben pointed out, nodding to his two huge bodyguards stationed at the door to his office.

You briefly glanced at them, before looking back at Ben. “Anyone else. You could have released anyone else. What about that Gil guy? He sounded harmless. Or some of her pirate groupies.”

“She wanted Harry,” Ben said simply, taking a sip of his tea. “She wouldn’t budge on that.”

You raised an eyebrow. “Wow. Great compromising there.”

Imagine: Dirty talk with Sam.

Sam x Reader

Warning: Smut, Masturbation, Dirty Talk

Hand to the short curly haired man upstairs, this hadn’t been planned. It started with a bit of fun, a small prank. Although now, at this new point in time, you couldn’t remember what possessed you to think of this, you had changed your name in Sam’s phone. It was suppose to be a minor inconvenience. One you could laugh off later. Instead of “Y/n” your name read “Destiny”. The joke was a lot funnier at two in the morning as you were rushing to think of something while Sam was in the bathroom. You returned to you separate motel room next door before he was done.

That’s where the real fun started.

A/N: Happy Angst Appreciation Day round three, it’s a day late, but life happens. Reader is Dean’s 17 year old daughter who has a twin brother named Robby.

You stood at the counter of the diner trying to decide if you should go back to the booth where your father, uncle, and twin brother sat, or if you’d have a better time alone at the counter. You’d gone up to ask for more napkins to clean up a spill that Robby, your twin had made. However glancing back you saw that they had waved down the waitress who your dad and brother were both flirting with.

With the roll of your eyes you took a seat at the counter; knowing you’d actually enjoy your meal if you weren’t near your father or brother.

You loved them both dearly and at one point your entire family was so close knit that your absence would have been noticed right away. However as you grew older the bond you shared with your twin and father began to disappear and once you started going on hunts with your dad and uncle, it all but vanished.

At first you told yourself that you were overreacting; that your father was just constantly worried about you, but as time went on you saw how close Robby and your dad still were, yet you remained on the outside.

It was something that your dad and brother both seemed oblivious to. Whenever you’d try to involve yourself in what they were doing they would send you away with some excuse as to why you couldn’t participate with them and soon you just stopped asking.

This never seemed to effect them, but it sure effected you.

Your father and Robby might not have seen what they were doing, but your Uncle Sam sure did. At first he tried to stick up for you, pointing out to Dean all the times it seemed that Robby and him would purposefully leave you out. Dean would deny it and after countless arguments with no change Sam stopped trying. Instead he became the figure in your life you so desperately wanted.

Still, there were times that Sam got sucked into whatever fun Robby and your dad were having; leaving you to be the outsider in your family again.

It was a role you learned to accept and gave up hope that it’d change.

A/N: ok you guys I am so sorry but I’m not gonna be able to post imagines for the next couple of days, I have a lot going on in school right now so I won’t be able to work on requests or anything.  so to make it up to you guys, I’m posting a short drabble that I wrote before I even created this blog.  So sorry again, hope you enjoy!

“Cliché,” he muttered under his breath, turning back to his laptop.

“Excuse me?” she demanded. He rolled his eyes as he continued typing. “Please, do explain.”

“Listen,” he starts, closing his laptop lid, “I’ve seen it. There’s at least one in every small town.”

“One what?”

“A tortured artist,” he proclaimed, doing sarcastic jazz hands. “You had a miserable childhood, guessing some daddy issues? Abandonment?”

“Dad and mom, actually, but do go on Sherlock Holmes,” she corrected, leaning back in her seat. He pursed his lips before continuing.

“Because your life is so sad you created an outlet for yourself, an anchor of sorts where you can channel all of your negative emotions. Lo and behold you just so happen to have a knack for art, and thus begins your journey as a tortured artist.” He finished with a small smirk as he imitated what she had done before and leaned back into his seat, crossing his arms.

“Very good,” she drawled, leaning against the table. “You got me spot on.” He nodded nonchalantly. “Although I must say this entire tangent was very hypocritical.”

“Hypocritical?” he questioned, also leaning in.

“Oh yes, you see you’re quite the cliché yourself. The tragic writer.”

“Tragic writer?” he mused, taking a bite of his sundae. “Explain, please.”

“You, too, had a rough childhood. Not abandonment like me, though. No, your family had money issues. Mommy was never around so daddy had to do all the work, and he wasn’t the most responsible and reliable parent. You’re the oldest, so you take it upon yourself to act as a parental figure for your younger siblings. However, you quickly learn that it is much too difficult for you, not even a legal adult yet, to take care of yourself and others. You come to the decision that your family is better off without you. One less mouth to feed, one less occupied bed, one less person to buy necessities for. You run away and take care of yourself. You try your hardest to find a job, and you eventually find one at some run-down place where it’s not busy enough for anyone to give a damn about your age. You work as hard as you can, saving up as much money as possible until finally you made enough. For months you’ve been dying to buy yourself a laptop, a place where you can create and store your writing. You buy it and immediately start writing, isolating yourself from the world and finding solace and comfort in your own writing, where you can play god over any character you create. This eventually turns you into quite the brooding guy, hence the sardonic humor and lack of close friends.” She finished her analysis with a smirk and sipped on her milkshake, eyebrows raised. His mouth was slightly agape.

“Just one sibling,” he mumbled.

“What was that?”

“I said,” he spoke up, “just one sibling. You said siblings. With an s. Plural. I just have one.” She shrugged, unbothered by his correction.

“I’m not Sherlock Holmes, Jughead.”

let’s hurt tonight

hello, this was loosely based on a request that i will put below, that scene is in here but it’s definitely not the main focus of the one shot, hope you like it!!

anonymous: hiii i was wondering if you could do something where harry is eating you out but your work calls and you have to answer while he keeps going down on you???

Heels in one hand, purse and phone in the other, you skipped down the stairs to where Harry was waiting, hands in his pockets.

He turned at the sound of your bare feet padding on the hardwood and a grin stretched across his face when his eyes landed on you. You still weren’t used to that look; his eyes flaming with desire as they made their way across your body. You would never admit aloud what that look did to you, but you were sure Harry knew anyway.

His eyes slowly made their way back up to yours, but darted traitorously to your mouth, “I like your lipstick.” Was all he said as he admired the redness of your mouth as it stretched into it’s own grin.

Southside Serpent

“So how long are you going to be acting like a complete brat?” He dictated, his body now pushing away from the fence and now standing in front of you. His body leaning into yours that pushes against the fence even more than before.

“Until you decide to leave me alone,” You state, head falling to the side as you do your best to look unfazed by how close he is, and how his cologne just makes you want to wrap your arms around him and push his body against yours so you can press your lips against his.

“Well that’s going to be shit luck for you because I’m never going to be leaving you alone.” He answers, lips tugging into a smirk as you feel yourself just completely cave in. The new found information that Luke won’t give up his tantalizing ways just to get you, has your mind in the gutter and the butterflies in your stomach just to buzz around more intensely then before.

A/N: inspired by the scene with kevin and the southside serpent, joaquin, from Riverdale

The sound of laughter and energetic conversations rattled off of your beige locker and flutters in your ears, along with the sound of sneakers smacking against the dirty hallway floors and the shutting of the exit doors being heard from where you are standing packing school work in your bag.

It was finally Friday and you’re buzzing with joy, you had nothing to do today but just to lay in bed and sleep. Not every day did you get a chance to take a nap after school, you always had something to do; go to your volleyball practices or go to your after school clubs and sometimes help tutor some of the kids on your street. You’re always busy and today you get the chance to finally rest.

So when you finally dropped your purple binder into your backpack and zipped it up a pleased sigh slipped out of your nose and into the energetic atmosphere, you let your hands tug away from your sliver zipper and close your locker before letting your body rest against it, the cool material causing your heated up body to chill for a moment.

“What are you doing?” You hear a voice ask, that causes your eyes to turn away from the white tiles and turn towards the voice. Samantha’s copper hair trailed down her shoulder and rested by her rip cage, her hazel eyes looking at you with question as one of her makeup filled eyebrows rose up on her forehead as her lips covered in a deep red colour was set in a straight line as she looked at you with curiosity.

“It’s finally Friday!” You sing, eyes closing for a moment as you let your head tilt against the locker and letting a smug smile tug on your lips. You watch as Samantha rolls her eyes before she leans against the locker next to yours, lips tugging into a smug smile a like yourself as her eyes glaze over with humor.

“So what?” She says, her cranberry lips moving as her words trail out of her mouth and smacks you in your face as you let your jaw drop and look at her with complete shock.

“So what! So what! Sam! I literally don’t have anything to do today. I don’t have volleyball, I don’t have any clubs to go to and I don’t have to tutor the kids on my street.” You say with excitement as a smug smile escapes your lips and a happy smile sets in place.

“God the kids on your streets are such brats.” Samantha grunts while rolling her eyes before shaking her head at you. “Anyways that’s not even the point, did you hear about what’s happening to The Twilight Drive-In?” She asks, both of her eyebrows rising up on her forehead as she stares at you questionably.

“No?” You state while shrugging your shoulders, head titling off of the locker and body turning to face Samantha as she rolls her eyes once again at your answer.

“How do you not know?” She questions, voice filled with aggravation as a laugh trails out of your mouth.

“You know if you continue to roll your eyes like that, they’re gonna get stuck.” You inquire, only making her roll her eyes again before taking her hand off of her blue denim jeans and rising it up to your cheek, her thumb running against your skin and caressing it.

“Please don’t be a smart ass.” She says, a fake smile on her deep lips as you watch her gold earrings dance around with her shaking head.

“Fine, then all be a dumbass.” You scoff, your body leaning off of your locker as you let your arms interlock with each other and rest along your chest.

Samantha pulled her hand away from your cheek and let her eyes flicker shut, her breath coming out heavy as you watched her lips silently count to ten before her eyes re-opened and look at you like she wanted to snap.

“Did your therapist tell you to do that whenever you’re annoyed?” You question, your right foot shifting away from your left foot which causes your hip to pop out as you look at Sam with amusement.

“Yes she actually did, now when you are done with your… irritating responses I would like to finish what I was about to say.” She says, her lips tugging into a smile as she lets her high heeled boots smack against the tile floor to an unknown beat.

“Continue, continue.” You say while tearing one of your hands away from your chest and flicking at her.

“As I was going to say, The Twilight Drive-In is shutting down so tonight is the last night to see a movie there and also make out with a hot guy in the backseat of his car like in Grease.” She beams, her pearly white teeth showing as her eyes glow with happiness and excitement which only causes you to groan and smack your head against your locker.

“Sam… I don’t wanna go!” You cry, a painful expression washing over your facial features as you look at her like you’re going to die.

“Why not?” She asked, voice annoyed as she looked at you like she wanted to kill you on the spot.

“Because it’s Friday! My only free day in this whole entire month! And also, you are most definitely going to find some guy to make out with and just neglect me.” You rush, eyes rolling as you look at her with bewilderment.

“That’s so false and you know that!” Samantha exaggerates while her jaw drops and her hands tug away from her sides to slide onto her hips.

You just let your eyes roll as you stare at her and shake your head, Samantha knows for a fact that she would do something like this so you decide not to even encourage the conversation even more, instead you let your head turn away from her gaze and look down the hallway where people continue to flutter out of to leave school.

It was blond hair and piercing blue eyes that had your heart hammering against your chest and eyes looking all over the place, your hands grew sweat between the cracks of your knuckles as you felt your whole entire face heat up just at the sight of him.

“Hey babe.” You say getting Grayson’s attention as he turns his head to look at you. “Hmm” He hums in response.

“How long do you think you could last without sex?” You ask him.

“2 weeks, maybe 3 weeks tops. Why?” Grayson questions.

“I think you can barely last a week.” You say with a smirk on your face.

For the past two weeks, you have been probing the library, scrounging for the book–or even something similar to it–to no avail. Now, whoever had it was at least two weeks overdue and the book was still not in your clutches.

In response, Madam Pince pulled out a thick file. “Magical Water Plants, Magical Water Plants,” she murmured as she flicked through the pages. “Here. Magical Water Plants of the Mediterranean by Hadrian Whittle. Checked out by a Sirius Black about four weeks ago.”

Your cursed under your breath. The answer was so obvious, you shouldn’t have been surprised. “Sirius Black,” you muttered, internally groaning. “Why him?”

Madam Pince, however, was paying you no mind. She mumbled endless incantations, vowing to maim Black to the very extent it would be allowed. You attempted to suppress a shiver at her uncensored words; Irma Pince took her books very seriously.

You shook your head, plastering a smile on your face. Within seconds, you smoothed down your robes and gathered the few textbooks you checked out. “Thank you so much, Madam Pince. I appreciate all your help!”

Without waiting for the librarian’s reply, you scurried out of the library, heading toward the Gryffindor Tower. As you approach the Fat Lady’s portrait, you saw a pair of boys pass by, the portrait swinging open.

“Remus! Peter!” you called, following them into the Gryffindor common room. They looked at you, then glanced back at each other with curious expressions. “You guys are friends with Sirius, correct?”

“Sadly, yes.” You shot Remus a glare as a playful grin spread across his face.

“Anyway,” you said pointedly, “do you mind telling me which dormitory is his? I need to talk to him.”

“We were just about to head up.” Peter nodded toward the stairs. “You can tag along.”

Remus gestured at the pile of textbooks in your hands. “Planning a study date, are you?”

You scoffed at the audacity of his idea. “Oh, please. You and I both know that studying with a jelly slug would be more beneficial.”

Remus laughed in response and you followed them both into the boys’ dormitories. Out of all the guys in Black’s little group, you found Remus Lupin to be the most bearable.

As you approached Sirius’ dormitory, you crinkled your nose, waiting for an unpleasant odor to hit you by surprise. To your luck, however, all seemed normal. But right as you placed a hand on the doorknob, it swung inward, leaving you to grasp nothing but air.

A permanently disheveled-looking James Potter came out of the room. His eyes glazed over you once he saw Remus and Peter.

“Wormtail,” James greeted, a jaunty grin on his face, “Moony. There you guys are!” His eyes fell on you. He looked you up and down, taking in the impatient tapping of your foot and the cautious tilt of your head. “And there’s a girl…”

“Y/N,” Remus coughed.

“Y/N!” James repeated, as if he knew your name all along, then paused. His eyebrows furrowed slightly before his eyes widened. “As in Y/N Y/L/N?”

You nodded. James smiled, a mischievous glint in his eye. Nothing good could possibly come out of that smile. “That’s me.”

James hummed. “Sirius’ Y/N, huh?”

“Excuse me? I’m no one’s anything.”

Behind you, you saw Remus shake his head as Peter grinned along.

“Of course you’re not,” Peter agreed, before focusing on James. “But did you know she’s here to see Padfoot?”

“Y/N is here to see Padfoot?” James all but hooted. He poked his head back in the dormitory. “Pads–you hear that? Your lady friend wants to see you.”

“Get stuffed, Potter,” you grumbled, attempting to hit him on the head with a copy of Encyclopedia of Toadstools. “And Sirius and I are hardly friends.”

The three boys looked at each other before exchanging nods and turning back to you. You knew nothing good could come out of those smiles on their faces.

“Well, Sirius is in the room if you need him,” said James. “We’ve got to go, but if you’re looking to form a harem, just yell and I’ll–”

Remus elbowed him in the side, shutting him up. “Don’t listen to him, Y/N, he’s an idiot.” James rubbed his side, sending Remus a crooked grin. “We’ll just be going now.”

You nodded, your lips pursed in confusion. You didn’t press for any questions, however, figuring you would only be left more perplexed. Spinning around, you entered the Marauders’ dormitory, looking for Sirius.

Soon enough, you found him on his bed, twirling his wand around his fingers as a Confronting the Faceless textbook was propped in front of him. You’ve never seen him look this relaxed.

You cleared your throat and dropped the stack of books at the foot of his bed. As his eyes met yours, he stopped playing with his wand and you folded your arms.

“Sirius Black,” you started, ready to scold him for not returning Magical Water Plants. “Are you aware of how long I’ve been waiting to get my hands on the only copy we have of Hadrian Whittle’s work?”

Sirius kicked his feet back and crossed his arms, mimicking your expression. “No. But I have the feeling you’re about to tell me.”

“I’ve been waiting for over two weeks.” You glared at him for mocking you. “And do you know how many weeks the book you checked out is overdue?”

“I don’t know, actually–”

“Two weeks!”

He didn’t bothering trying to keep the amused expression off his face. His grin, of course, only made you angrier.

“Don’t you dare laugh,” you threatened. “I’m already failing Herbology–only Merlin knows how I managed to moved onto the N.E.W.T. levels–and now the final essay is due in two days and I haven’t even started.”

Sirius quirked an eyebrow at you, sighing as he finally stood his arse off the bed. “Let me get this straight. You tracked me down just to yell at me?”

“I tracked you down to get the bloody book!” You pinched the bridge of your nose. “And I would very much appreciate you handing it over right about now.”

Shrugging, he walked over to the side of his bed, digging around to find the book. When he handed it over to you, you noticed a water stain and a torn cover. When Sirius saw your disdainful look, he sent you an innocent grin. “It was like that when I got it.”

Rolling your eyes, you gathered up all your textbooks and headed out of his dormitory. “Right. Well, thank you for finally returning it,” you called behind your back, trying not to sound sarcastic.

Before you made it to the door, however, you felt a hand grasp your forearm. “If you’re going to use that book to write Sprout’s essay, don’t bother. It’s absolutely useless.”

“What do you suppose I do then?” You whirled around to look at him.

Sirius took the books from your arms, carrying them for you despite your sounds of protest. “As common knowledge shows, you are shitty at Herbology whilst I am not.”

“Hey–”

“By yourself–and with this banal collection of textbooks–you would barely pass the essay.” He cocked his head to the side when you opened your mouth. However, you knew you couldn’t argue with that. “But with my help, I guarantee you’ll get an A.”

You scoffed. You wished that Sirius weren’t right, but his top grades, and your below average ones, proved otherwise. “You want to help me write an essay on some plants?”

“I’m all for helping a damsel in distress.” He paused, walking you out of the Gryffindor common room. “Just one small thing.”

“I should’ve known there was a catch.”

Sirius ignored your comment. “In exchange, you have to go on a date with me this Saturday.”

Once you reached the bottom of the tower, you took your textbooks from his hands. Did Sirius genuinely want to go on a date with you? You tried not to take it too close to heart, but it wasn’t everyday one of the most pined after guys of your year asked you out.

Still, you were skeptical.

“If we get an A on my Herbology essay, then maybe you’ll get that date.”

“We better start researching, then.” He ran his fingers through his hair, his hand momentarily covering his face. When Sirius turned to look back at you, you could have sworn you saw traces of red on his cheeks.

And that alone was enough incentive for you to want to get a good mark.

What even was this? I don’t know. Sucky, I’d say.

As of now, I’m sick of all this loveydovey crap. So my next imagine will either have infidelity…or death. Whichever I’m in the mood for.

And all the T E N S I O N

THE COCK TWITCH (lord have mercy am I into that or what)

How tightly he holds her

WATCHING HIS HAND MOVE DOWN THERE AND HE DOESN’T EVEN NOTICE FEYRE TURNING AROUND TO KISS HIM

Dudes who are vocal about how much their woman is turning them on like yes.

“When you lick me,” he said roughly, “I want to be alone— far away from everyone. Because when you lick me, Feyre,”… “I’m going to let myself roar loud enough to bring down a mountain.” I was instantly liquid again, and he laughed under his breath. “And when I lick you”… “I want you splayed out on a table like my own personal feast.” I whimpered. “I’ve had a long, long time to think about how and where I want you,” Rhys said onto the skin of my neck, his fingers sliding under the band of my pants, but stopping just beneath. Their home for the evening. “I have no intention of doing it all in one night. Or in a room where I can’t even fuck you against the wall.

“Y/N, do you know what this is?”

You paused, staring at the six that surrounded you. No. No you didn’t know what this was. In truth yo’d all began, right at the quarry. And you had no idea why. “No.” You muttered with a shake of your head; “no I don’t. What is this?”

“Y/N, we’re sorry.” Mike spoke up, stepping into your line of vision. There was a sinking feeling within you and you felt yourself at a loss on what to say. They’re sorry? Sorry for what? For leaving you? Abandoning you? Pretending like you didn’t exist for the past four years?

As silence carried on, everyone staring at you for a response, you felt your eyes water. They’d yet to answer your question on where Stan was, but you’d wait. You wanted to know why they were so sorry, why they’d done what they’d done. “You’re sorry.” You repeated finally, looking down at your feet. “You’re sorry?” The moment you’d been waiting for was finally coming true, and you didn’t understand why. It’d been so easy to leave you, Bill, Beverly, Ben, all of them, must have stopped talking to you for a reason.

“Y-Yes.” Bill replied, letting his hand fall on your shoulder.

You shook your head, your hands falling to cover your eyes and to hide the tears than begun to fall. You never expected this day to come, you never thought any of them would speak to you again, let alone apologize for everything. It was the one thing you’ve only ever wanted coming true and here you were hiding your face in your hands as you sobbed. Everything was becoming too much, it felt like this past week had gone by in a blur. “For what?”

“For leaving you when you needed us the most.” Ben answered you, and you felt the entirety of the group surround you. It was just like that day back then, when they’d saved you from Pennywise and hugged you like you were their entire world. You’d all been so close then, so bounded together that you felt like you could defeat anything. Here you were four years later, sobbing as they held you, again

Teaching Tip: Build Your Culture and Climate with Attendance Questions

Everyone knows that the social and emotional well-being of a child is just as important as their academic skills.  In fact, our district just put “Culture and Climate”  at the top of our teacher evaluations.  If a student doesn’t feel safe and loved in each classroom, they they aren’t going to learn. Period.

Sure, there many ways to build a positive culture in your classroom, such as standing outside your door while students are coming in, giving them opportunities to define the rules in your classroom, letting them choose their seats, going to their extra-curricular activities, giving them a survey, etc. However, one of the BEST ways (in my opinion), is to spend time really getting to know your students on Day 1 of the school year. That being said, you need to spend time getting to know them every. single. day. of. the. year!

For the first five or ten minutes, my class never started with silent reading or a writing prompt; it started with an attendance question.  Each day, I would ask a question (you can see my list below of questions), and I would take attendance by having each student answer the question.  My students told me they love this part of the class because it gives their brain time to transition from one class or subject to the next.  They also explained that this was a great way to get to learn about each other…who has similar answers, funny answers, and/or were extremely creative each time.  In middle school, you never know what answers you are going to get.  One year, I had a group of boys that somehow worked in a Morgan Freeman answer every single time.  Last year, a boy answered with something about curry each day.

So, what does this look like? Up in the front of my classroom, I have a podium with a “special stool,” and on that podium is my list of questions and a print out of student’s names.  For the first week, I tell the students my question, and I call on each student for their answer.  When everyone is done, I tell them my answer to the question.  (You’ll learn that if you give your answer first, you will have at least ten other students give that same answer.)  This is a great way to learn the names of students as well.  It is always my goal to learn every single name by the end of the week, even when I have 170 students.  There is no way I could do achieve this without doing the attendance question first.

At the end of the first week and for the rest of the year, I have a different student each day that does the attendance question.  Obviously, this would be more difficult if you teach students under third grade, but here is why I do it. The students LOVE sitting in the special chair up front with this responsibility (yes, even teenagers).  It also gives me time to sit at my desk for five minutes while I am doing the attendance on my computer at the same time (yay, a chance to sit down), or I am spending that time passing back papers and handling individual student needs.

Some of you may question whether you can give up those five or ten minutes of class.  My answer is yes!  When you build a positive culture and climate in your room, you are saving yourself time from discipline problems later on in the year. Maybe you have that one student that makes you want to poke your eye out, and then you learn that you both share a love of horses.  What better way than to connect with that student. I have also learned that the students start to feel like a family and become protective of each other, as long as you don’t allow negativity or snickering during the attendance questions.  I stress that there is never a wrong answer; every one gets to feel how they feel. Kids are vulnerable, and it’s important to set up that safe place for them. If you allow students to make fun of an answer, you are actually killing the positive culture in your room, and NOW you are wasting your time in the beginning of class.  Have you ever met a person who doesn’t like to share something about themselves? No, me neither.

This year, remember that the social/emotional part of a child is just as important as the subject that you are teaching.  You may find that students never want to leave the room during the attendance question.  There is a reason for that. Create that classroom where kids may pause before wanting to leave the room.

Feel free to use my list of questions.  At the end of the list, I also have “Would You Rather Questions” that I use when I have less time and only want a one-word answer.  This list is always a work in progress, so if you have questions that you think would be great to add, please let me know.  I almost have you covered with enough questions for the whole year, though.

Dealing with Warlocks: Do’s and Don’ts

DO:

1) Use stereotypes to your advantage

Most Warlocks think and act as though they know everything. The more you behave like a depraved, sociopathic murderer, the more a Warlock will feel that their preconceptions have been vindicated. You could probably use this for some benefit outside of comedic effect, but then you’d have to spend more time with them. Watching them squirm is usually worth it.

2) Act the strong, silent type

Don’t speak at all. Just stare through them. Makes them really uncomfortable, and less likely to start randomly talking about quarks. Also, it makes them think you’re paying attention when you’re not, which is useful, because listening to a Warlock lecture you on quarks is enough to put you to sleep. No one wants that.

3) Talk endlessly about your cloak, and how much better it is than their stupid robes

Pisses them off to no end, but we all know who’s got the superior wardrobe. Nothing says “hero” like a dashing cloak.

4) Offer to play the knife game with them

You know the one. They have a thing about fingers, though. And about not losing them. It’s good to instill a healthy dose of fear in your compatriots. The more they think that you’re willing to chop off your own fingers to beat them at something, the better.

The exception is Ikora. Don’t play the knife game with Ikora.

DON’T:

1) Be too nice

Some Warlocks are quite friendly. Others are even useful. Never let them know it.

2) Give straight answers

If you do, they start thinking they can tell you to do stuff. Never say “Yes” to anything. Preferable responses include:

  • Maybe
  • Could be
  • Might
  • Dunno
  • Huh
  • Whoops

3) Ask them a question unless you have a lot of free time

I saw a skeleton in the Cosmodrome once; had a sign hanging off its chest that said: “I asked a Warlock about quarks.”

4) Play the knife game with Ikora

Just don’t.
