in high rez

So I’m working on a new post about Earthsea covers (and on some asks) and i found the best cover of all time. look at this majesty. look at it. I responded to some ask the other day that I couldn’t possibly do a five favorite covers post, well here it is, 1-5. like, look at that shit. that is a HUMAN-SIZED FALCON with SHAPELY DUDE LEGS in BRIGHT GREEN TIGHTS facing down A MAN DRESSED LIKE A VALENTINES DAY-THEMED JESTER while his friend walks in on the situation and decides that what he’s going to put up with today is Not This. THIS IS A REAL COVER. MULTIPLE PROFESSIONAL SOMEONES HAD TO BE LIKE ‘YEAH. THIS IS THE SCENE THAT’LL SELL THIS BOOK.’ I’M IN LOVE.

We need to talk about 1) the heart detailing on the pants 2) whatever the FUCK is happening with blue man’s pants which……. turn into gladiator sandals?? and he’s wearing light blue knee high socks under then???? 3) the bird has better legs than i do 4) the raven casually watching all of this:

Sombra: Misunderstood and Underused

Hey, everyone! One more Overwatch meta post for today.

I think Sombra is one of the most underused and misused heroes in Overwatch. She’s often seen as a throw pick, but why?

Because, simply put, her skill ceiling is high as hell.

In fact, I’d put the skill you need with her on par with what you need to be a good Genji. The stigma surrounding using her competitively stems from the learning curve that resulted when she first released. People were trying to figure her out, couldn’t use her properly, and subsequently called her broken.

But now, she’s an EXTREMELY viable pick. I think she’s almost necessary on attack on Eichenwald, King’s Row, and certain CP maps.

Why? Because she excels at two things: hunting down healers (except for sym) and AREA CONTROL. She absolutely directly controls the other team’s ability to heal.

Ana and Zenyatta are easy fodder for her gun at close range (and if you master invisibility, you should always be at close range), and once Mercy’s hacked, she’s done too. Sym and Lucio can be a bit more troublesome (just don’t engage with Sym tbh) but she’s not a healer, so. Whatev.

She also shreds tanks if played right. She disables all healing, meaning she’s anti-hog and anti-bastion, and of course, she’s anti- rein.

(I can only speak for low diamond rn but, like, the way I play her? I’m ALWAYS using her abilities as soon as they cool down. Invisibility is a mobility tool.)

And don’t get me started on EMP. It is one of THE MOST powerful ultimates in a game.

She’s STRONG against these heroes once a hack is confirmed:
D.Va (she is 100% a hard D.Va counter)
Reaper (she removes their sustainability)

She’s EVENLY MATCHED with these heroes (even with a hack confirmed)
Soldier: 76

She’s WEAK against:
McCree (assuming he’s got good aim)
Symmetra (auto aim)
Winston (though she can keep him from jumping around when ulting)
Pharah (unless she’s close)

Not to mention, a quick EMP will stop High Noon, Death Blossom, Rez, or Justice. And you can theoretically get EMP in back to back team-fights.

She’s not a front line, either. You should never engage in a teamfight in a straightforward fashion– always hit that back line.

So, tl:dr, Sombra is a very high skill cap hero that has an unfair bad rep in competitive play. With a Zarya, she’s practically necessary imo. She requires a high level of team communication to be effective, too, so keep that in mind.

Hey guys! I had some of my friends ask me to make them a little guide on how I’ve been making bells in ACNL since I’m paying off so many of my characters houses.

I make all of my bells from beetle hunting and fin fishing on the tropical island! I prefer to hunt alone, that way I can hog all the goods to myself, hehe.

  • First step? Clean up your island!

If you’re going to be using the island as a bell gathering spot like me you’ll need to take away all of the flowers, shrubs, and extra trees. Yes, even the ones on the grass - I know there a couple of high ticket beetles that rez there but I don’t think it’s worth it for quick bell hunting since so many other 2k ones show up. Better to keep the minimum of 6k with Goliath beetles.

I leave 6 palm trees in total along the sides of the island. This way I can actually start from the bottom and look ahead to see what beetles have rezed on the next trees without scaring them away! So handy, especially if you have trouble with the skittish Golden Stags.

  • Second step, scare away those pests!

Now that your island is cleaned up you’ll have a lot less random encounters of bugs to deal with. But that doesn’t get rid of all of them. You’ll still deal with Tiger Beetles, Wharf Roaches, and Hermit Crabs. If these are showing up it’s taking away changes for tree beetles to rez! So do your best to scare them away, I like to slap my net on the ground. Usually sends them running. Also remember to scare away extra fish shadows too so you have a chance to see a fin fish!

I always wait to start bell hunting until 7pm. This way no grasshoppers or locusts are spawning any more. If you want to wait even later with your night owl ordinance that’s great too! Tiger Beetles stop spawning at 11pm so more chances to get palm tree beetles. :D

  • Third step, go in circles until the goal is met.

I like to start going straight down the map. This way I can automatically scare away any roaches or tiger beetles chilling there. ALWAYS START FROM THE BOTTOM! This way you can see your beetles before you scare them! I like taking my island in a figure 8 motion so I can see the whole island and check the water for any finned fish.

And after all that just fill up your drop box inventory with as much as you can get and get those sweet, sweet bells!

***Please take note! This is just how I personally practice to get bells, there all are all sorts of methods to try out - so feel free to reference it and change whatever you like to make it a better bell gathering experience for you!

Just little thoughts of a Mercy main in comp… "I am a Mercy / I play at nite / And when the noon / Is fucking high / Tho I should rez / I really can't / It's not my fault / They killed me ded" (Spontaneous composition, pixels on screen; 15-05-2017, 2:33 am)

thank you for this

Speaking of Phantom of the Opera remixes…

Kevin Caldwell’s amv is like, ten years old or older now, and seeing a high-rez version of this is AWESOME.

Very early Deus Ex: Invisible War screenshots, from when the game still looked good. I didn’t think any survived!

Story time: The art director for this game did an amazing job. The game had huge maps, colorful high-rez textures, dynamic lighting, and tons of detail. But then he had to leave Ion Storm and at the same time, this became a console game. The new guy is also amazingly talented, but he was lumped with a super pretty game that the systems simply couldn’t handle. So everything had to be cut down. I’ve dubbed this the Great Cut. After the Great Cut, the game kinda looked like turd in comparison to what it used to, and to other games coming out at the same time (HL2).

These screenshots were thus taken relatively early in development, and show how grandiose the levels looked. F

So I guess Man Chong has been added, huh? It’s about damn time.

I think Man Chong is a stellar choice. He joined Cao Cao pretty early on and was extremely influential. Not only was he a key policy maker, he was also an important tactical adviser and a general in a lot of major battles seen in DW, including Fan, Shiting, and Hefei (the 234 battle often serving as the capstone of the Wu story). I think he’s one of the best choices they could have made.

I have no opinions on his weapon because I don’t even know what “shooting blade spear” is supposed to mean. I guess I’m picturing something like a speargun. The image isn’t high rez so I can’t get a good look at it.

I approve of his design. I think it’s fitting for a man who was a civil administrator, a tactician, and a frontline general. Man Chong could basically do anything. And I’m a sucker for long coats.

With Man Chong and Cheng Pu, it seems that DW9 is going to follow the usual pattern: make a few good choices for Wei and Wu and all the worst ones possible for Shu. Maybe this means we’ll finally get Chen Tai?

On the whole: I’m pleased.
