immortality of the soul

Look how the floor of heaven

Is thick inlaid with patens of bright gold.

There’s not the smallest orb which thou behold'st

But in his motion like an angel sings,

Still choiring to the young-eyed cherubins.

Such harmony is in immortal souls,

But whilst this muddy vesture of decay

Doth grossly close it in, we cannot hear it.

Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice, Act V, Scene I

How do you kill a God?

Aphrodite laughs, head tossed back with stars in her hair, ‘We are immortal. We are ageless. We will never die.’

How do you kill a God?

Hera sighs, ‘You rob them of love and loyalty. They will be alone and unhappy, and eternity will seem like a punishment, but it is not death.’

How do you kill a God?

Zeus declares, rather confidently, ‘You deny them their power. Poseidon nods his head in agreement. ‘They will be weak and defeated, perhaps even chopped up into pieces, but it is not death.’

How do you kill a God?

Apollo closes his eyes. ‘You strip them of their senses. Their eyes, and they cease to see. Their ears, and they are rendered silent. They will be in the dark, conscious and cut off for millennium, but it is not death.’

How do you kill a God?

Hades whispers, though still his voice carries, ‘With another God. An immortal for an immortal. Era for an Era. A celestial being to strip another’s soul. He pauses, the rest are silent. ‘A God for a God.’

The most hilarious thing about the Crystal Kingdom arc is Kravitz talking about bounties and how the boys have the biggest ones he’s ever seen, as if he works 9/5 for rent money.

Like, my dude, you’re dead. You live on a plane primarily inhabited by swirling, immortal souls. The most material thing on it is a jail. You work for a goddess. Kravitz has a body, but evidence suggests that it’s more for show than anything, seeing how he can also inhabit robots or work through crystalline monsters.

What is he getting paid in, afterlife brownie points? Raven feathers? Pats on the head from his godly boss? Or is he just trying to keep up his three century long Employee of the Month streak?

Self Love & Protection Recipe

Apples are associated with love, fidelity, fertility, marriage, beauty, vanity, wisdom, the soul, the afterlife and immortality. They are an evocative symbol of Christianity but also serve many other purposes to secular and Pagan witches.

Cinnamon and cinnamon oil can be used in love and protection spells.

This simple, delicious recipe can be made quickly and used to top oatmeal, fill small pies, or it can just be eaten plain!

- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup sugar
- 4 apples, sliced and cored (peel if preferred)
- 2 tbs. ground cinnamon

Combine all ingredients except apples in a large saucepan or pot.
Stir clockwise to infuse the mixture with positive energy! While I stir, I like to say my intent out loud a few times (”I will love myself and I am safe!”).
Once butter is melted, add apples and cook on medium 5-10 minutes or until apples are tender and soft,

Important Things to Remember about Van Hohenheim:

  • He was born as a slave and manipulated into being involved in the genocide of his own race, then forced to live with the burden of having an immortal body filled with the crying souls of the thousands of people who had died.
  • He devoted at least a couple of centuries conversing with over 500,000 souls, getting to know each and every one of them, befriending them, and cooperating with them.
  • Hohenheim did not leave his children alone. He left them in the (more than capable) hands of Trisha, where he knew they would be raised well. He trusted that Trisha would be able to explain his absence to Ed & Al without revealing the truth about his body. He couldn’t have anticipated her death, and as he was travelling the entire country he had no way of keeping in contact with Trisha to check that she and their sons were doing ok (this is assuming the Elrics didn’t have a telephone).
  • Hohenheim had difficulty interacting with people, even his own family. He would probably have a very hard time writing letters back home, or talking to Trisha on the phone. He more than likely thought it best to keep his distance 100% until he could return home for fear of ruining any of his relationships with his family.
  • Hohenheim was immortal and had already lived for hundreds of years. A year or two probably wouldn’t have seemed like a long time to somebody with such a huge lifespan. Hohenheim likely still pictured his sons as young children, even after 10 years of not seeing them.
  • When Hohenheim returned to Resembool he expected to be greeted by the love of his life and his two young boys standing at the doorway to his family home. Instead he found a pile of burnt rubble, Trisha’s grave, Edward’s automail, and Alphonse’s empty body.
  • He completely blamed himself for Ed and Al’s attempt at human transmutation and subsequent injuries. He understood that they were lonely, grieving children and in his eyes the fault was all down to him and - taboo or not - the brothers had not done anything wrong.
  • Despite being the most powerful character in the FMA universe, Hohenheim was a pacifist and did not fight or injure a single person in the whole series.
  • He always put everyone else before himself.
  • The things which made him happiest in the whole world were all to do with his children. Alphonse trusting him, Ed and Al helping him on the promised day, Ed calling him Dad for the first time, getting to shake Al’s hand after recovering his body… his whole life revolved around his sons as soon as he met up with them again. He was willing to sacrifice himself for Ed and Al’s sake.
  • He died happy because he was so proud of Ed and Al and he knew that they had made incredible friends who would look after them for the rest of their lives.
  • Without him everyone would be dead.
  • All he wanted was a normal life.
  • Van Hohenheim was not a bad person.
  • Van Hohenheim was not a bad father.

  • He is romantically cheesy as hell
  • He wears glasses just so he looks slightly different to Father
  • He used to fly into an Ed-like rage whenever anyone called him unintelligent
  • The first thing he said to Alphonse after reuniting with him was, “My vintage armor!!”
  • One of the first things he said to Edward after reuniting with him was, “we have the same hairstyle”.

Honestly, the thing about jojo is that it starts kinda normal, and each new bizarre thing it introduces seems so logical in context; you don’t even realize how weird it is until you look up and realized you’ve gone from watching two kids fighting for daddy’s approval, to watching a 70 year old old man helping his grandson cheat at MLB 2k 1989 to save the immortal soul of his best friend while simultaneously searching for the surviving one of those aforementioned kids, who’s now a sexy evil vampire that stops time and has stolen his rivals body.

Coraline Theories

-The Other World is at the bottom of the well. The well and the portal behind the little door are extremely similar in appearance.

-The Beldam is a witch who made herself immortal by using children’s souls. She was there probably before the town was founded. The reason she has a spider motif is because she acts like one, creating a web to attract and trap her prey. Her monster form is the result of her overuse of black magic, she’s not human anymore.

-The Cat lived at the same time as the Beldam, and tried to save the ghost kids like he did with Coraline. They’re both connected to the Other World, which is why he can travel there.

-The key is basically the Beldam’s magic wand. It ties the real world and the Other World together. That’s why there’s only one.

-The Beldam made dolls as a hobby or for a living, before she began stealing souls. This is why everyone in her world has button eyes, they’re all just living dolls she’s created. It’s also why her true form looks like a spider made out of sewing needles, and why she can only copy things in the real world. Sewing buttons onto a child’s eyes is making them another of her dolls, her property.

-The reason the Other Father and Other Wybie rebel is because they’re simply following their orders. The Other Father was made to love Coraline, and the Other Wybie to be her friend. The Other neighbors were made just to entertain her, not care about her.

this poor man got cursed with immortality in a way that was highly traumatizing, and yet he refused to get angry at the souls making him immortal, because he recognized they had no say in this situation either. so instead he talks to them, even though the number in the hundreds of thousands, and treats them like people, and keeps their memory going.

Van Hohenheim is too damn pure and good and i’m extremely emotional

The military bromance. They always got each other’s back in the battlefield. They always stay together and protect each other. Even though their friendship ends up in sadness but it’s really amazing to see them sacrificing themselves for each other till the end.

They share a mysterious conflicted fate yet fate brought them to live together as housemates.
