I’m going to publish this because I want more people to know and read this book, hope you don’t mind! :)
We Need to Talk About Kevin is a book a fictional school massacre. It’s written from the perspective of the killer’s mother and the narration takes the form of letters. In these letters, she details her relationship with her husband well before and leading up to their son’s conception, followed by the events of Kevin’s life up to the school massacre, and her thoughts concerning their relationship.
Idk for me any summary will ever be able to describe this book. Kevin is basically a psychopath. He’s evil since he’s a little boy and all you want to do is understand his mind, but you can’t. The book will make you think of the possibility that Eva’s ambivalence toward maternity may have influenced Kevin’s development, but you don’t know. You know something is going to happen, but the fucking awesome part is the whole waiting for it, watching the kid getting creepier. You saw it coming the whole time, you know what he did, what he’s going to do, but you have to “see” it.
But this book isn’t for everyone, isn’t for every mind. Some people think it’s boring, but for me it’ll be boring only if you are not able to understand. It’s not a easy-read. You need to have maturity enough to understand what you just finished reading.
