Phenology- the study of cyclic and seasonal natural phenomena, especially in relation to climate and plant and animal life (from Oxford Dictionary).

Because of the climate change the patterns of many phenological activities in animals and plants are changing. Earlier spring means earlier snowmelt and earlier blossoming of flowers. While this may not seem a bad thing, it may well have some dramatic effects because not all organisms adapt to phenological changes at the same rate. For example, the snowshoe hares have white fur in winter and grey in summer to camouflage themselves against predators. With the snow melting earlier, however, the white fur makes hares particularly easy to spot in a muddy spring environment for the predators, causing a fast decline in hare population.
