A Moment Before Noon

As the sun rose over an open field
I basked in the glory of existence.
For once, there was nothing to make me yield.

Below spruce and black locust trees I kneeled,
in medative action of repentance
as the sun rose over an open field.

Foliage provided a fragile shield,
of which there was unspoken acceptance.
For once, there was nothing to make me yield.

From nature, there was nothing to conceal,
illumination had no consequence
as the sun rose over an open field.

I silently hoped all of this was real,
if not, i wished to live in ignorance.
For once, there was nothing to make me yield.

Here, to simply live is to become healed
of any wound or ill rememberance.
As the sun rose over an open field,
for once, there was nothing to make me yield.

How to mulitask like a supermodel.

Between day jobs, side hustles, and brunch dates, there’s a lot of juggling that goes into balancing a modern woman’s life. Thankfully, the brains behind Wander Beauty made a line for us in mind—and we couldn’t be more excited. “We only create luxurious multitaskers that will save you time and keep you looking gorgeous on-the-go,” explains Lindsay Ellingson, cofounder and creative director of the brand. We caught up with the supermodel-turned-entrepreneur to talk beauty tips, eyebrow woes, and wanderlust. KELLEY HOFFMAN, REPORTING BY JESSICA VELEZ

What inspired you to start your own beauty line?

“I started my modeling career in Paris over ten years ago. The first backstage beauty trick I learned was how to illuminate my complexion. It was so easy to do and the ultimate beauty enhancer.  That’s when my passion for beauty sparked! For years I traveled the world testing formulas, different application techniques, and avidly followed trends on the runways in each city. After trying and testing everything, I realized something was missing. Like me, women are busier than ever, and I noticed our products weren’t keeping up. We started Wander Beauty to create internationally inspired, skincare-infused formulas that work double duty and help you downsize your makeup bag.”

Who is the Wander girl?

“Style savvy, constantly on-the-go, keeps her hands free with colorful crossbody bags and has a serious case of wanderlust.”

Can you share your favorite application tip or trick for a Wander Beauty product?

“As cofounder and creative director, I spend a lot of time focusing on creating innovative products that simplify your beauty routine yet keep it super versatile and fun. Our new Wanderout Dual Lipstick does exactly that and comes in four matte shade pairings. I personally curated them and tested each shade on a wide range of skin tones. On one side is a beautiful neutral for day, and on the other is a bright pop of color that’s perfect for a night out with friends. I love to create a petal pout by applying the bright shade all over my lips, and then I layer the neutral shade in the center of my lips, and press together.”

What are your personal favorite Wander products—and why?

“All of our products are daily must-have essentials for me, but I especially love our Flash Focus Hydrating Foundation Stick. It’s my secret to flawless, radiant skin. It’s infused with coconut oil and leaves my skin looking smooth.  The buildable coverage is great for women like me who want one product that does it all! On my days off I use it as a spot corrector, and then build up to full coverage foundation when I have a meeting or an event. My absolute favorite product is our new Wanderout Dual Lipstick. It’s infused with lip-loving ingredients from eight different countries, including mango seed butter from India, sunflower oil from France, and marula oil from South Africa. Our four sets of dual lipsticks are the perfect pairings no matter what your plans may be!”

How has your modeling experience inspired Wander products?

“I draw inspiration from many aspects of my career and travels for all of our products. I’ve worked with the most talented beauty experts all over the world, it was the best beauty school one could have. We launched Wander Beauty with just one hero product, our On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator. Our Coral Rose Blush was inspired by a picture I had taken of a mesmerizing sunset in St. Tropez while our Nude Glow Illuminator was inspired by my very first fashion show in Paris where I learned to illuminate my complexion with highlighter.”

What’s your go-to beauty tip when traveling?

“I always travel with our On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator. I often fly the red eye and have to go to work straight away in the morning. Adding our Nude Glow Illuminator to my cheekbones not only hydrates my skin, but adds a beautiful sheen that makes me look much more fresh and awake. A subtle pop of color to my cheeks with our cream blush never hurts either! It’s the easiest way for anyone to fake a more youthful appearance.”

What’s a beauty fail you’ve experience while traveling, and is there a Wander product that would fix that for you now?

“I’m a girl who needs eight hours of sleep at night, yet I have never been able to sleep on planes. No matter how much water I drink, I end up with a dull complexion and very tired eyes. Luckily, I have a great trick for concealing dark circles: I swipe our Catch the Light Highlighter under my eyes, and then conceal over that with our Flash Focus Foundation. It instantly illuminates and conceals that area, and gives the illusion of an instant lift.”

Since you’ve traveled the world, is there a foreign beauty product or technique that has inspired any of the Wander products?

“For years, one of my biggest insecurities has been the shape of my eyebrows.  They were waxed and then over plucked when I was in middle school and have yet to completely grow back. I searched everywhere for the perfect product to fix my shape. It wasn’t until I traveled to Japan that an artist showed me how to correctly fill in my sparse areas and thicken my brows. It was a game changer for me! That experience inspired me to create our Frame Your Face Brow Pencil, with an ultra fine tip that actually mimics the shape of hair for a much more natural look.”

What’s a good tip when it comes to packing beauty for a long trip?

“I love to pack multitaskers that can be used to create endless day and evening looks. Our products are great for travel because they can be worn sheer for day and then built up for nighttime. Less is more when traveling and it’s great to have products that can change with you throughout your day with no fuss, mess, or bulky makeup bag in site. I love our Liquid Eyeshadows and Love Lock Lip Gel because I can apply a sheer wash of color, or really dial up the drama with a metallic smoky eye and classic red lip!”

We all aspire to roll out of bed and emerge from a restful slumber with glowing skin, flushed cheeks, bright eyes, and rosy lips—but there’s a fine line between no makeup and a no-makeup makeup look. Unfortunately, our first-thing-in-the-morning face can sometimes be more frightening than flawless. Enter the answer to our prayers: Perricone MD’s new No Makeup Skincare collection, a seven-piece lineup of subtle perfectors for the face, cheeks, lips, and lashes. These makeup-skin-care hybrids immediately conceal imperfections while providing long-term benefits with powerful skin-care ingredients to restore skin’s youthful glow. We examined the innovative line that leaves you bare, but better. RENEE TRILIVAS

WHY TRY IT: Fake a perfect complexion with this undetectable two-in-one base. Packed with antiagers, such as firming neuropeptides and color-correcting vitamin C ester, this velvet-finish fluid covers flaws while helping to address them.
HOW TO APPLY IT: Shake the bottle before dispensing three to four drops into your hand, then use your fingertips to dot, press, and blend the serum over the face.
TIP: Warm up your foundation shade with a drop of No Bronzer Bronzer, or add more to deepen the hue. Use the palm of your hand as a mixing palette.

WHY TRY IT: This pigmented treatment provides weightless coverage and a dewy finish with a blend of broad-spectrum, mineral-based SPF; antioxidant-rich alpha lipoic acid to help minimize the look of fine lines; and vitamin C ester to optically diffuse red, yellow, and blue undertones.
HOW TO APPLY IT: Shake well before evenly applying two to three drops over the entire face.
TIP: Create a custom color specifically suited to your skintone by blending two foundation hues.

WHY TRY IT: Disguise flaws with this supercharged concealer: It locks in moisture with hyaluronic acid while microcirculatory agents help reduce the appearance of dark circles.
HOW TO APPLY IT: Dot the concealer along the lower contours of the undereye area and blend outward. For a shadow base, pat the concealer on the lids with your ring finger.
TIP: Try using the concealer to illuminate the high planes of the face—the inner corners of the eyes, between the brows, along the bridge of the nose, and on the tops of the cheekbones—for a sculpted radiance.

WHY TRY IT: Get a healthy glow and a contoured complexion without creating sun damage. This breathable bronzer instantly revives the skin with adaptable color that mimics natural melanocytes, the cells that give skin its natural tone. Bonus: With SPF 30, it helps protect against future environmental damage.
HOW TO APPLY IT: Shake well; dispense one to two drops on your fingertips; rub together; and gently pat onto your forehead, nose, chin, and under the cheekbones where the sun naturally hits the face.
TIP: Dab the bronzer along your jawline, and blend down your neck for a defined effect.

WHY TRY IT: This self-adjusting blush imparts a potent pop of luminous color and helps lift and tone cheeks with firming antiagers.
HOW TO APPLY IT: Blend one to three dots on the apples of the cheeks, smoothing the pigment with your fingertips upward toward the hairline.
TIP: Prep lips for color by patting two drops of blush onto the mouth for an understated, stained look.

WHY TRY IT: With hyaluronic spheres and vitamin E, this solid-serum lipstick nurtures, moisturizes, and smooths dry lips while adding a lively hint of color.
HOW TO APPLY IT: Swipe this tinted treatment over lips for a sheer wash of blushing color. Toss it in your bag to reapply throughout the day to condition lips and amp up your natural color.
: For a bolder look, layer on this buttery lipstick until you reach your desired saturation.

WHY TRY IT: Get fuller, longer lashes with this fringe-boosting mascara. Its biotin-rich formula nurtures lashes and helps promote hair growth. Plus, the dual-faced brush lifts, lengthens, and volumizes lashes in one sweep.
HOW TO APPLY IT: Wiggle the short bristles at the roots to build thickness, then rotate the brush so the firm, longer bristles comb through the lashes for a wide-eyed look.
TIP: Get defined doll eyes by skimming the short bristles over the lower lashes.

OVER HYPED: YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch.

This product is a cult favourite and raved about by some of the best makeup artists in the world, but I myself didn’t like it. Touche Eclat is designed as a highlighter that provides a small amount of coverage. For me  this product doesn’t give enough coverage to be used as a concealer and doesn’t have enough shimmer or light reflecting properties to give a nice highlight. For the price I think there are so many better products out there and if you are after a radiance enhancing product or a good coverage concealer I’d give this product a miss. I love: Stila All Over Liquid Luminizer (for highlighting) and NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer as light reflecting concealer.

Futuristic Grunge or Mythical Goddess?

Possibly one of my favourite looks!

On my face I started with theBalm tinted moisturiser in Light. Really good product to have, gives you a really nice tone to your face and leaves it ready for concealer.

I used Maybelline illuminating concealer, under my eyes, in the corners of my eyes and around my nose.

Then I used my Laura Mercier contouring kit, shade #1 under my cheek bones and the highlighter on my cheek bones.

I then set it all with Illamasqua translucent powder

Lottie looked stunning today in her most recent Instagram picture. Let’s learn how to recreate this look!

  • First apply foundation starting from the center of your face and blending it out. Make sure to use a foundation with a dewy finish.
  • Next, apply a luminescent powder or cream to the tops of your cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead.
  • With an illuminating concealer, blend it under your eyes and lightly on top of the luminescent powder you already placed. Gently blend these products together with a beauty sponge or your fingers.
  • Set all of this with a pressed powder.
  • Then, take a powered bronzer and contour your face by applying it to the hollows of your cheeks, down the sides of your nose, and around the hairline of your forehead with special emphasis on your temples.
  • With a rose pink blush, swipe it over the apples of your cheeks and blend it backwards slightly following your cheekbone.
  • Now onto the eyes. Take a medium matte brown and blend that into your crease with windshield wiper motions
  • With a champagne color shadow, place that into the inner corner of your eye blending it to the middle of the lid.
  • Starting where you left off with the champagne color, take a taupe color and blend that to the end of your eye into the matte brown color from the crease.
  • Make a mixture of the taupe and brown place under your lash line to give kind of a smoky effect.
  • Lottie doesn’t wear a lot of eyeliner but, use a little bit of a black liner of your choice on the outer 1/3 of the top lid.
  • Curl your lashes.
  • Apply lengthening mascara to your top and bottom lashes. Use liberally.
  • Apply a volumizing mascara to your top lashes only.
  • Finally, use a light pink lip stick to put over your lips. To get her great pout, use a baby doll pink lip color over the light pink lip stick.

Let me know how this worked out for you! xx
