A few shots from inside The Evanston Inn. Built in 1897, the Inn has stood boarded up since I moved here a couple of years ago. I’ve spent quite a bit of time daydreaming about living in the vacant building as a squatter, getting high and singing at the top of my lungs while riding my bike through the halls from crooked room to crooked room.
Over the last few weeks the Inn has been fenced off and work on renovation has begun. I talked with the Project Manager last week and he agreed to let me in to roam around and take photos. The place is a total gauntlet, it was hard to make sense of with the hour or so I had there.
The Historical Society protects anything over a hundred years old, so the original building will stay and get a complete makeover. I think they’re going to turn it into condominiums.
