Hey, although I am german, I would like to hear your explanation for the translation of self-conscious and self-confident. And uhmmm… I agree, I can’t think of an adjective that really works as a fitting translation for self-conscious. Online dictionaries suggest translations like “befangen”, “gehemmt”, “verlegen”, etc. And these are certainly all parts of feeling self-conscious and are related to it, but they don’t transfer this focus on oneself…

We would probably have to use at least a few sentences to really describe the feeling of “self-consciousness” in German.
