“I was born in a flame. Mama said that everyone would know my name.
I’m the best you’ve ever had. When you think I’m burning out I never
am.” Fireball, Pitbull (feat. John Ryan)
So, I recently started reading Shut Up and Dance with Me by @wittyy-name and @wolfpainters and I just. Sora’s art is gorgeous and Witty’s writing is amazing, and they both inspired me to start drawing again. I’m working on drawing all of my favorite dances from the fic including their audition dance and Keith dancing to Anaconda because that was inspired!
Anyway, these are so much fun to do. These poses are from this video, but I listened to Fireball the whole time (because that is Lance’s theme song I stg). Drawing Lance is such a joy, I love him so much and the dances they chose for him are so much fun to draw.
If you feel that you don’t have enough reasons to want to punch Mogami in the face, go read @phantomrose96‘s A Breach of Trust. If you already want to punch Mogami in the face, then good, go read it anyway.
A Wondrous State by hetrez - 1.7k / G Beautiful little piece about Andrew spooning Neil and fighting to be okay with it. <3
Baltimore Blues by SpangleBangle - 17k / E A rewrite of what happened during Baltimore from Andrew’s POV. The beeeeeeessst one of these types out there. Just read everything Spangle writes, do yourself that favour.
high school au, enemies to lovers SUMMARY: It’s Louis’ senior year, and he’s dead set on doing it right. However, along with his pair of cleats, a healthy dose of sarcasm and his ridiculous best friend, he’s also got a complicated family, a terrifyingly uncertain future, and a mortal enemy making his life just that much worse. Mortal enemies “with benefits” was not exactly the plan.
Or: The one where Louis and Harry definitely aren’t friends, and football is everything.
Very-very messy illustration for the last chapter of “floating, sinking” by @shu-of-the-wind, because I am bad in commenting and I just want to say thank you for this wonderfull masterpiece. I was reading it for weeks and waiting for the new chapter like it’s my birthday.
Read it if you haven’t - it is the best fix-it fic I’ve seen.
“one small kiss, pulling away for an instant, then devouring each other”
AN: You know what this one seems perfect for? Undercover dating, aka a trope I live for xD
Thanks for the prompt, Madina <3
Nesta wasn’t prepared for this.
barely a brush of Cassian’s firm lips against her own, accompanied by a
hint of his scent hitting her nostrils and a calloused curve of his
hand cupping her jaw.
It’s barely a brush but Nesta knows she’s in trouble, knows that she shouldn’t clutch at his jacket so tightly and her breath shouldn’t get caught in her throat like that, as if they’re kissing for the very first time and she’s slightly surprised by how good it feels, not when they’re supposed to have been dating for good few weeks now.
At least that’s the story.
Goddamn undercover work. Definitely not her thing. All that acting and subtlety and people skills it requires - not her cup of tea.
Nesta knows computers. Understands computers. Codes and algorithms and research that - bless the internet gods - don’t require actual human interaction.
That whole undercover business, on the other hand, is a freaking mess, that’s what it is - and worst of all, Nesta knew it would be and still went for it.
When, months after having gone completely AWOL, Feyre came back home with a new boyfriend at her side (and two suspicious-looking men at his side) and asked for her and Elain’s help, Nesta should’ve said no.
Alas, she was too pragmatic to refuse the promise of financial security for her sister as well as herself. Not after their useless father had gambled away the last of her mother’s inheritance money.
So naturally, when Feyre and Rhysand divulged details of their insane plan to steal away “Book of Breathings” - long-lost painting that had just found its way into the private collection of Kingston Hybern, Norwegian billionaire, Nesta could only sigh deeply and grit out her assent.
All while ignoring one of Rhysand’s oversized friends and his watchful gaze fixed on her at all times.
Cassian. Cassian was his name as she later learnt. Few days after that, she also found out exactly how hard his nose was when it collided with her fist (very hard and not at all good for her knuckles - you played yourself, Nesta).
And then, Feyre dropped the undercover bomb. As in her - Nesta - and him - Cassian - going undercover as a dating functioning couple of consenting adults to get access and do recon of Hybern’s Spanish villa where the painting was kept.
Her - a young spoiled heiress. Him - her current flavour of the month.
Did she mention they would have to pretend to - oh shocker! - like each other?
Feyre certainly hadn’t thought this through.
Although right about now - as they’re dancing at Hybern’s party, their mouths only inches away - Nesta realizes - with no small amount of chagrin - that’s it’s not that hard to pretend after all.
Her skin still tingles where his lips grazed hers, and she can’t help but pull away and look at his face, her eyes searching, inquiring.
What just happened?
Why did it feel so good?
Cassian seems as lost as she is but only for a slow excruciating moment. And then -
Something just clicks and they’re kissing again but this time…Oh, this time, it’s consuming and hungry and carnal - his tongue swirling along her teeth, her nails digging into his shirt, his thumbs pressing into her hipbones, drawing her closer.
I remember when I first got into this fandom and there was only one fanfic in the DEH tag on AO3….and I was the one that wrote it 😂 But look at us now! There are so many incredible writers in this fandom and I’m just so proud!!
“For so long he had not had a home. For so long he had just been lost, a nomad moving from purpose to purpose. And then she found him and she became it. She became the reason to fight, the reason to return every night, the reason to smile on the worst of days, the reason to become human again. She became his reason. She became his home.” Broken Nails and Vacant Alleys by supersillyanddorky06
I'm happy that I haven't seen posts like yours (about liking "problematic" stuff in fandom) when I was younger, because I'd probably keep reading gross stuff like it's just a fic. Do you really think young people reading, for example, pedophilia ffs aren't influenced and won't project anything to real life or you just lie to yourself to feel better about readng about gross things yourself? Yeah let's let 14 years old read romantic stories about teens and teachers, it's okay ...but anyways :)
Oh, nonnie, you’re barking up the wrong tree here.
First of all, most fanfiction comes with an appropriate age rating, and if there are fourteen year olds visiting a fanfiction archive like AO3 - which, by the way, comes with a general disclaimer in the TOS that informs reader that they are likely to encounter upsetting, offensive, or morally questionable content - or if there are fourteen year olds on tumblr, which is an unmoderated, semi-private blogging platform - it’s not my responsibility to “keep them safe” from anything that isn’t age-appropriate.
Second, I’m really very sorry that you didn’t read my post earlier, so it would have given you a bit of perspective, and made you realize that it’s perfectly okay to read all kinds of fucked-up fiction, as long as you are mature enough and capable of discerning between fiction and reality. And usually, even fourteen year olds are old enough to make that distinction. Or if they aren’t, it’s their parents’ responsibility to make sure they don’t encounter content that isn’t suited for them.
But seriously, nonnie, do you have any idea what kind of stuff I read when I was fourteen years old? Stuff that I could get in every book shop, unsupervised, uncensored, and without content warnings attached to it? Do you realize that published books come without any kind of age restriction? I’m inclined to laugh at you. I was a fourteen year old myself, and back then, no one even tried to put restrictions on me and my reading preferences. Goodness, our house was full of books of every genre and flavor, and no one bothered to even look at what kind of stuff I pulled from the shelf.
But, hey, if you want to start banning fiction, how about you start with the things that have a much bigger audience than niche fanfiction which is posted in fannish spaces like tumblr or at the AO3 (which, by the way, was made with the explicit purpose of hosting all kinds of fanfiction, especially the stuff that was banned elesewhere)?
If you are really so concerned about the influence that fiction has on younger people, I’d start here. That’s a literary classic romanticizing rape and incest among other disgusting things. Also this one, it’s full of violence, propagates rape culture and really toxic masculinity!
And let’s not even talk about contemporary novels! From Nabokov’s Lolita to Irving’s The Hotel New Hampshire, George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire to Effinger’s Marîd Audran series, published fiction is full of problematic stuff, and it’s all easily available for young people!! Shouldn’t you make it your quest to go out there and prevent that from happening?
But not, instead you’re in my askbox, wasting your time.
[…] or you just lie to yourself to feel better about readng about gross things yourself?
Oh, nonnie, I’m sorry, but this is pitiful. You’re talking to an adult, a sane, mentally stable and self-assured person, and your moral condemnation is pretty much meaningless to me. I’m not in any danger of conflating fiction and reality, and my conscience is perfectly clear when it comes to my support of fannish creativity and freedom of expression. :)
