if you have better art let me know

anonymous asked:

I'm not sure if you've been asked this before but, in your relationship, how did you let your partner know about how you like shipping and drawing hot guys kissing, etc...? And how did they react? I'm nervous about telling my girlfriend about the things I love.... (also I love you and your art and hope you feel better soon!!)

Aw thank you so much ❤️ well, we have been together for 6 years and living together for 5 and ½. I only started drawing malexmale or femxfem since.. well literally a year ago!

I never really said I was doing it… I just did it lol and I was super nervous and would try and hide it whenever he walked in the room. When it was finally discovered what I was drawing I said I was doing it for a friend! Which I was but also a bit for myself lol.

I remember he screamed a bit with laughter cuz he was like what is thiiissss?? I didn’t know you drew this??

Then to my surprise he would give me suggestions and teasingly say I should use his body as a model… wait.. or was he serious.. lol this guy

I was shocked, honestly, that he was so accepting…

I think it all depends on your relationship and the other person on how to deal with it. But we never really sat down and “had a talk about it” cuz that would have been…. not us?

So in the end I drew it, he saw it, and was cool with it 👌🏻 now he gives me horribly funny suggestions

Soulmate Skin Writing! Coolest. Idea. Ever!:

Word by Word by @cobrilee (1/1 | 11,843 | Teen)

The first time Derek sees the words, he’s had a really shitty day. Laura was on his case again, all in the name of sisterly love, of course, and Cora was wielding her usual acerbic wit like a rapier. He’d gotten to the scene of a shooting too late and the victim had died before Derek could call for an ambulance. His Camaro had gotten a flat and while he was attempting to change the tire on the side of the road, someone drove by and sent a wave of muddy water arcing, drenching him, and he was cold, muddy, and miserable.

Then, as he was sliding into the front seat after toweling off as best as he could, he felt something prickling on his arm and glanced down. Shaky, thin lines began appearing, little by little, and he could do no more than stare as the infamous phrase formed on his arm.

Are you 18?

Let me know in your personalisation request, and I’m sure we can work something out. Guy’s gotta have that dollar to buy curly fries.”

It’s Laura’s 30th birthday and Derek sucks at buying gifts. Then he stumbles across ‘Full Moon Jewellery’, an Etsy store run by an art student who has strange ideas about nutrition, and whose enthusiasm for his new commission is actually kind of adorable.

just a little project I’ve been cooking up. GHOSTBUSTERS TAROT!!

it’s all very colorful and themed around art deco. not sure if I’d ever use these once I print them out, but regardless, they’re a fun exploration of conceptual stuff, so it could be a great portfolio project. let me know if the text is kinda unreadable to you because I have a lot of art deco fonts I can use for this.

3 down, 19 to go.

oh also, does anyone know of a good website where I can get this custom deck made and printed for a reasonable price?

EDIT: I changed the font! it looks much better now. also I finished Patty’s card so I added that. these are way too fun to make.

White women’s opinion of black women & a brother’s response Please take a moment and read this. Pretty Deep!

It seems that an article was written to Sister 2 Sister magazine by a Caucasian woman who requested a response from black men. I’m so glad she got what she asked for (and more) !!!

Dear Jamie:
I’m sorry but I would like to challenge some of your Black male readers. I am a White female who is engaged to a Black male-good-looking, educated and loving. I just don’t understand a lot of Black female’s attitudes about our relationship. My man decided he wanted me because the pickings amongst Black women were slim to none. As he said they were either too fat, too loud, too mean, too argumentative, too needy, too materialistic or carrying too much excess baggage. Before I became engaged, whenever I went out I was constantly approached by Black men, willing to wine and dine me and give me the world. If Black women are so up in arms about us being with their men, why don’t they look at themselves and make some changes. I am tired of the dirty looks I get and snide remarks when we’re out in public. I would like to hear from some Black men about why we are so appealing and coveted by them. Bryant Gumbel just left his wife of 26 years for one of us Charles Barkley, Scottie Pippen, the model Tyson Beckford, Montell Williams, Quincy Jones, James Earl Jones, Harry Belafonte, Sydney Poitier, Kofi Anan, Cuba Gooding Jr., Don Cornelius, Berry Gordy, Billy Blanks, Larry Fishburne, Wesley Snipes… I could go on and on. But, right now, I’m a little angry and that is why I wrote this so hurriedly. Don’t be mad with us White women because so many of your men want us. Get your acts together and learn from us and we may lead you to treat your men better. If I’m wrong, Black men, let me know.

Disgusted White Girl, Somewhere in VA.

RESPONSE

Dear Jamie:
I would like to respond to the letter written by A Disgusted White Girl. Let me start by saying that I am a 28-year old black man. I graduated from one of the most prestigious universities in Atlanta, Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management. I have a good job at a major corporation and have recently purchased a house. So, I consider myself to be among the ranks of successful black men. I will not use my precious time to slander white people. I just want to set the record straight of why black men date white women. Back in the day, one of the biggest reasons why black men dated white women was because they were considered easy. The black girls in my neighborhood were raised in the church. They were very strict about when they lost their virginity and who they lost it to. Because of our impatience to wait, brothers would look for someone who would give it up easy without too much hassle. So, they turned to the white girls. Nowadays, in my opinion, a lot of brothers date white women because they are docile and easy to control. A lot of black men, because of insecurities, fears, and overall weaknesses, have become intimidated by the strength of our black women. We are afraid that our woman will be more successful than us, make more money than us, drive nicer cars and own bigger houses.

Because of this fear, many black men look for a more docile woman. Someone we can control. I have talked to numerous black men and they continuously comment on how easy it is to control and walk over their white women. I just want to set the record straight. I want A Disgusted White Girl to know that not all successful black men date white women. Brothers like Ahmad Rashad, Denzel Washington, Michael Jordan, Morris Chestnut, Will Smith, Blair Underwood, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Samuel L. Jackson, and Chris Rock all married strong black women And, to flip the script, there are numerous white men, in and out of the spot light, who openly or secretly desire black women over white women. Ted Danson, Robert DeNiro, and David Bowie to name a few. I just don’t want a disgusted white girl to be misinformed Stop thinking that because you are white that you are some type of goddess. Remember, when black Egyptian Queens like Hatsepshut and Nitorcris were ruling Dynasties and armies of men in Egypt, you were over in the caves of Europe eating raw meat and beating each other over the head with clubs.

Read your history! It was the black woman that taught you how to cook and season your food. It was the black woman that taught you how to raise your children. It was black women who were breast feeding and raising your babies during slavery. It is the black woman that had to endure watching their fathers, husbands, and children beaten, killed, and thrown in jail. Black women were born with two strikes against them: being black and being a woman. And, through all this, Still They Rise! It is because of the black women’s strength, elegance, power, love and beauty that I could> never> date anyone except my black Queen. It is not just the outer beauty that captivates and draws me to them. It is not the fact that they come in all shapes, sizes, colors and shades that I love them. Their inner beauty is what I find most appealing about black women. Their strong spirit, loving and nurturing souls, their integrity, their ability to overcome great obstacles, their willingness to stand for what they believe in, and their determination to succeed and reach their highest potential while enduring great pain and suffering is why I have fallen in love with black women. I honestly believe that your anger is geared more toward jealousy and envy more so than snotty looks. If this were not so, then why do you continuously go to tanning salons to darken your skin? If you are so proud to be white, then why don’t you just be happy with your pale skin? Why do you continue to inject your lips, hips, and breasts with unnatural and dangerous substances so you can look fuller and more voluptuous? I think that your anger is really a result of you wanting to have what the black woman has.

BOTTOM LINE:
If I were looking for a docile woman, someone I can walk over and control, I would give you a call. But, unfortunately, I am looking for a Virtuous Woman. Someone that can be a good wife and mother to my children. Someone who can be my best friend and understands my struggles. I am looking for a soul mate. I am looking for a sister and; unfortunately, you do not and CANNOT fit the bill. No offense taken, none given.

Signed, Black Royalty

Convention Spending Tracker
Sheet1 Table, Badge, Flight, Hotel, Printing, Misc., Misc., Total Expense, Amount Made, Total, Profit,

I posted this to Twitter earlier this week and it kind of blew up, but I want to post it here too. Just a little something I use to help myself keep track of spending during convention season, made into a rainbow because why not make more things rainbow?

Whether you’re tabling or just attending for fun, conventions can get expensive - especially when you include travel costs! I’ve used this sheet for about three years now, and helps me make decisions for future conventions. Sometimes it turns out I did better at a con than I thought I did! Or maybe I didn’t do so great compared to last year and need to think about coming back again. Oh, and everything listed are purchases that you get e-mail reminders about, so if you can’t remember the cost of a table or flight, it’s probably somewhere in your e-mail. I try to fill mine out as I buy flights and order prints, but sometimes I’m digging up old e-mails after the con is over.

Some things worth considering that are not on this sheet: food costs, gas if you drive to cons, baggage fees, and shipping if you ship your supplies in advance. Please feel free to download and edit this sheet as you see fit for your own needs! I hope it helps. And let me know if you have any questions, I’m happy to answer them!

EDIT: HOLY SMOKES, lenalibrarian on Twitter took my convention spending tracker and made it 100x better!!

–> SMART CONVENTION SPENDING TRACKER <– (original link edited too!)

It now calculates your costs and total profits AUTOMATICALLY!! Which is super useful for someone who’s terrible with numbers like me. I just finished importing all my 2017 convention spending so far, and this smart sheet caught a few mistakes already. I’ll be using this sheet for years to come, thank you lenalibrarian!!

Hello there, just a message to let you know why I have been very inactive.
I wanted to create something for the last few months but i’ve been and I’m still stuck in a really toxic relationship where the person in question is constantly putting me down and I’ve never felt this low in my entire life. Until I get better and until I gather my courage to get out of this situation there will be no art for the moment I’m really sorry.

candos  asked:

Your art makes me swoon, I hope I can achieve some sort of galant elegance as your own art portrays at some point! Reading through your posts and answers helped me quite a lot. I love art and I want to pursue it, though a lot of the time I have the urge to give up. So thank you for your kind, wise, and supportive words on like subjects! Have a wonderful day!

That is so nice : )  I love to see messages like this and I’m really glad my words were able to help someone.  It’s always hard to know when you write them out if you’ve said the right things hah.  Sorry it took my so long to respond to this, my message box is a mess.

Everyone has good and bad days with art.  I have even had bad years.  When creating work and being excited about art is hard, it becomes a matter of making it a habit to do and knowing that someday it won’t be so hard anymore because deep down you love making art, even if that’s not so clear right now.  I’ve been talking about this very thing with a lot of my other artist friends recently, and for many of us, we just started drawing when we were young and loved it, but never really thought about it beyond that it was fun.  As we grew up and began seriously thinking about art as a career and about our futures and our place in this world, making art for us began to change.  And for some of us, that change was the end of our love affair with art.  For the rest of us, we had to struggle to try and understand what art means to us now, as adults, and to redefine what it is we get from making it.  For each person the answer is different.  I’ve met some who have solidified for themselves the innocence and fun that art used to bring to them.  For them art is about brightening their life and the lives of those around them.  I know others who use art as a medium to understand the world and to create discussion about what it all means and to challenge the way things are.  For me art is about being a student of the beauty and complexity of creation and humanity and sharing the things that excite me.  The idea that there are powerful rules to aesthetic which create harmony and appeal and that they can and should be broken in order to propel an idea is fascinating to me.  But for each artist, the answer to what art means to us is already within us.  It comes from the seed of the love of art which we discovered in ourselves and then planted at the beginning of our artistic journeys.  I know from experience the growing pains of that seed can hurt.  Shying away from it can be easy because sticking with it seems so hard.  Even answering the question of what art means to you won’t always completely quiet those urges to give up and do something else.  But I often have to ask myself if shying away would really be better.  If letting that part of me die would be what I really wanted at the end of the day.  For me, the answer is no.  My passion and apprehensions still vary from day to day.  But at least I know where I stand and I know that one day I want to see that seed I started with become a mighty tree.  I wish you luck on your own journey to be the best artist you can be!

anonymous asked:

How would you feel about someone getting one of your drawings as a tattoo?

I have been seeing a lot of interest in getting my art as a tattoo, so I’m going to use this ask as like, My Standard Response to Any Tattoo-Related Enquiries

GENERALLY:
I don’t mind if you use my art as a tattoo.
It would be nice though if you could

1) let me know which art you’re using. Two reasons: A) I might have a better version of the artwork and B) there are some pieces of art that CANNOT be tattooed. See below.
2) tip me (http://paypal.me/reimena), since I made the effort to draw something that you felt had some connection to you, personal or aesthetic enough that inspired you to get it as a tattoo. It’s only fair (but optional, it’s your conscience).
3) show me a pic after you get the tattoo! This is for fun.

The only things I ask you not to tattoo are ocs or anything related to The World in Deeper Inspection, and commissions (because they are either private commissions, which means it’s someone’s pet/character/face, or professional commissions). This can be avoided if you ask me first, to confirm.

Tattoos are Personal and a Big Investment so both of us gotta do this right.

INTERESTINGLY:
Even better, I DO TATTOO COMMISSIONS.
If you’d like something (a Familiar-style piece tailored to your animal/flowers/symbols? Wanted to customise an already-existing Familiar piece with a different flower? A pet portrait? Anything different at all you think might be good in my style?), feel free to send me an email: reimenayee@gmail.com

I am happy to draw any theme or whatever, we can discuss this along with the pricing (which will differ depending on the complexity of the piece). Prepare something above $50 USD for a tattoo commission.
